8 Most Charming Places in Tanzania
Found along the coast of East Africa is the great nation of Tanzania . Not the most well-known country in Africa, Tanzania has quietly become one of the upstart places in Africa, boasting a burgeoning and booming tourism industry. Known for its breathtaking landscape, white sand beaches, and vibrant culture, Tanzania is surely to make a good first impression.
Ruaha National Park
Ruaha National Park is the largest nature reserve in Tanzania. In 2008, it merged with the neighboring Usangu Game Reserve, now covering more than 20,000km². There are campsites located all over the park, which make for perfect vantage points from which to see the wildlife up close.
Going on a safari here is like no other. There are endless ways to explore the park, all with a warm and helpful guide to help along the way. Most of these safaris are done from the safety of a car, whereas others are conducted on boats. The animals that you will see and the people that you will meet are going to create memories that last a lifetime.
Mahale Mountains National Park
Another one of Tanzania's stellar national parks, the Mahale Mountains, is located along the tranquil shores of Lake Tanganyika in eastern Tanzania. Initially created to protect a large segment of Tanzania's chimpanzee population, the park has become a world-class tourist destination.
The Greystone Mahale Camp is particularly stunning. This one-of-a-kind lodge is the perfect place to go on a romantic getaway with your significant other. There are, of course, plenty of guided tours inland to observe and occasionally interact with the various groups of chimpanzees that call the park home.
Nyerere National Park
Located on in Eastern Tanzania, the Nyerere National Park transports its guests into the thick of the African savannah . Guests can enjoy this park any way they want. There are traditional safaris, boat safaris, and even the option to survey the park from a hot air balloon.
Tours into the bush are also available. This allows guests to observe the wildlife up close and personal. It also gives visitors the chance to visit some of the remote villages that are located within the park. The locals here are famous for their warm demeanor and hospitality .
Mafia Island
Despite its name having a somewhat foreboding name, Mafia Island couldn't be further removed from any semblance of violence or organized crime. Located along the east coast of Tanzania, Mafia Island's pristine beaches and crystal blue water are nothing short of magical.
Mafia Island's beaches are a hotspot for nesting turtles, and its shallow waters teem with marine life. For those daring enough, the best months to spot whale sharks are from October to February. Even if aquatic life is not to your taste, the laid-back and peaceful nature of the island is enough to make this a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Mount Kilimanjaro
Sitting along its northern border with Kenya is Mount Kilimanjaro , the largest mountain in Africa. Sitting at roughly 5,895 meters (19,340 feet) tall, Kilimanjaro looms over the vast plains of the African savannah.
Climbing to the summit of the mountain is no easy feat, but reaching the top is certainly worth it. For those who have no interest in hiking up Kilimanjaro, there is a fantastic national park available. The park offers tons of tours led by accommodating and friendly guides.
Lake Manyara National Park
Found in the north of Tanzania, Lake Manyara National Park is another great destination for those wanting to get a closer look at the spectacular African wildlife. There are numerous tours available that grant visitors the chance to observe herds of elephants , curious giraffes, and even lion pride.
Aside from the traditional methods of looking at wildlife, there is also a tree-top canopy walk in some places. This gives the park's guests a new and unique way of viewing different kinds of primates and exotic birds. It is a great place to take friends and family.
Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera . The surrounding area is teeming with wildlife and is the perfect place to go if you want to experience a more traditional safari. The land is home to all the stable animals one would expect, along with the semi-nomadic Maasai nomads who still live and hunt in the area.
There are dozens of high-end resorts guests have to choose from. If staying at a resort is not to your liking, then there are various campsites set up throughout the park that all come with a surprising amount of comfort despite being in the middle of the wilderness. The staff who work at these accommodations are more than happy to help and assist wherever they are needed.
The Zanzibar Archipelago is located off the east coast of Tanzania. There is a lot to do in Zanzibar, and it has quietly become one of the most prominent tourist destinations in Tanzania. Whether you are looking for a relaxing time at the beach or want to explore the city itself, there is something here for everyone.
The Nakupenda Beach Nature Reserve is a great place to visit, especially for wadding in the warm turquoise blue water and shallow sandbank that the island is famous for. The old quarter of Zanzibar is another great attraction. Filled with a rich history and Arabian-infused architecture and culture, the city of Zanzibar is one of the more unique places in Africa. Its charm and energy are apparent the moment you arrive.
Discover Tanzania’s Hidden Charms
Tanzania is one of the best-kept secrets of Africa. Home to an endless amount of attractions and entertainment, it is no wonder more people are deciding to come and visit every year. No matter if you want to explore the county's wildlife or take a relaxing vacation on the beach, Tanzania has all of its bases covered.

Understand [ edit ]
Donetsk has a population of around a million people, making it the fifth largest city in the country . Donetsk is the unofficial capital of Donets Basin ( Donbass ) region , the most industrialized part of the country, and as with the surrounding region, it is mostly populated by ethnic Russians, who consistently favour pro-Russian candidates in the elections.
The swift development of Donetsk began in 1869 due to John Hughes, a Welsh businessman, who started to exploit the coal mines on what was then the southern reaches of the Russian Empire, and established the local steel industry , founding "Yuzovka" (Hughes' village) . It was renamed "Stalino" and greatly expanded during the Soviet period.
World War II shook the city hard, leaving it not much more than mounds of rubbles. After the war, the city was extensively rebuilt, losing its original layout and architecture reminiscent of British towns. After Stalin's death, it was as well renamed Donetsk.
Donetsk's Donbass Arena was one of the venues for UEFA Euro 2012 , the only European football championship that took place in Eastern Europe so far, which was jointly hosted by Poland and Ukraine.
Climate [ edit ]
Lying on the Eurasian steppe inland from the sea, Donetsk has a typical continental climate : While temperatures lower than -30°C (-25°F) were recorded, a more realistic expectation from winter lows (Oct–May) would be -7°C (19°F). Summers , on the other hand, can go up as much as 38°C (100°F), although expecting around 27°C (81°F) would be more typical.
While spring and summer months (May–Jul) are statistically the wettest, rains are more or less evenly distributed throughout the year. But an average year sees about 492 mm (19.37 inches) of precipition anyway, which is about half of what is typical for oceanic climates common in northwestern Europe .
Get in [ edit ]
Donetsk International airport was destroyed in the war in 2014.
By car [ edit ]
The drive from Kyiv can be 6-8 hours depending on how fast you drive, how many stops you make, etc.
Get around [ edit ]
Public transportation [ edit ]
Public transportation is cheap but can be crowded. Be prepared to stand up most of the time, and you may have to make waves when you want to get out. There are four main types: the trolleybus, bus, tram and minibuses ( marshrutki ) . Trams and buses will get you just about anywhere in the city for a fixed price for as long as you want to be on the tram or bus. Tickets are to be bought from the conductor, which is on board of every tram and bus. At the central market there is one of the many depots. These forms of transport stop at every stop on the route.
Semi-public transportation (minibuses) [ edit ]
The minibuses (singular marshrutka , plural marshrutki ) operated by non-municipal companies can be found throughout the city. They are like the buses, but faster, smaller, and they stop on request. If you are on board you must yell to the driver that you want out at the next stop, and if you are waiting for one, you must flag it down. Depending on the driver, these can get very crowded.
Taxi [ edit ]
Most tourists find the taxi to be their best option. Taxi cabs are on every corner and they are relatively cheap.
There are numerous dispatch taxi services. For example, 381-0000 or 0-67. Keep your eyes open for more numbers, usually printed on the side of the cab in large font.
Also, on the first ride in the taxi, ask the driver if he would like to drive you around on a regular basis. Usually, they will be delighted to do so and give you their ID number for dispatch ( pozivnoi ) or their cell phone so you can call him directly. That way, you can have a chauffeur for the time of your stay.

Choosing your next vacation isn’t just about where you visit, but where you stay.
To help travelers book the vacation possible, Tripadvisor , one of the biggest online travel agencies, revealed its 2024 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards — including the list of the world’s best hotels .
The list ranks destinations that received a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over the past year — out of 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieved the milestone.
New York City is still one of the top tourist destinations in the world, so it’s no shock that three of the top stays in the US are right here in Manhattan: The Luma Hotel in Times Square, The Bryant Park Hotel and Casablanca Hotel by Library Hotel Collection, also in Times Square.
But although many people agree NYC is the greatest city in the world, none of its hotels made the list for the best stays on a global scale.
The top hotel in the world is the Hotel Colline de France in Brazil, according to Tripadvisor.
The luxurious stay was highly rated for its “sophistication and comfort” shown through its glamorous rooms and luscious spa.
The live piano music played at breakfast and complimentary sparkling wine were also nice touches.
“The hotel’s sensational design and warm atmosphere make it a unique choice for an elegant, yet cozy, getaway,” Tripadvisor said.

The pet-friendly hotel stands out with its beautiful view of the ocean and eco-friendly but slick design — its proximity to the Santa Monica Pier also helps to attract guests.
Travelers also raved about the variety of food options, including the in-room breakfast options and the poolside bar.
“A stylish atmosphere and attention to detail ensure a fab stay for you and your furry friend,” Tripadvisor said.

38 Places in the US Every American Should Visit
Posted: June 20, 2023 | Last updated: June 20, 2023
Every traveler has a bucket list of places to see in this life. Beyond these shores, it might be Stratford-on-Avon in England for those with a literary bent; Normandy for those honoring the sacrifice of American soldiers who came ashore in northern France to liberate Europe from the Nazis and never came home; or the Coliseum in Rome for civil engineers marveling at ancient Roman ingenuity.
There are plenty of places here in the United States. that are well worth visiting, too, of course - many of them unique in the world.
24/7 Tempo has compiled a list of places in the U.S. every American should visit. These places of interest run the gamut from national parks to museums to sites where Americans can reflect on the ongoing struggle for freedom and liberty. We assembled our list from sources such as the National Park Service , Britannica , Battlefields.org , the Washington DC , PBS , and the official travel sites for various states. This is by no means a comprehensive list - rather a catalog of some of the destinations we consider to be uniquely American.
You’d expect to see places such as Ellis Island, Gettysburg, the Grand Canyon, and the Statue of Liberty on such a list. But it’s so worth checking out destinations like Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, the world’s biggest cave system; the Doo-Wop architecture of the Wildwoods Shore Resort Historic District in New Jersey; and the mesmerizing accomplishment of the Ford Rouge River car assembly line in Michigan, founded by Henry Ford. ( Check these classic images of motels with a vintage vibe .)
It will be cheaper for Americans to be on the road again to visit these places this summer. The average U.S. gas price was $3.56 as of June 15, almost $1.50 less than $5.03 recorded on June 16, 2022, according to the fuel-saving website GasBuddy - whose 2023 Summer Travel Survey reports that 64% of Americans are planning to take a summer road trip this year, up from 58% in 2022. ( To keep you company, consider America’s favorite road trip songs .)

How to watch the 2024 NFL draft
April may be the domain of Major League Baseball's return and the beginning of the NBA and NHL playoffs, but the NFL gets a starring role when it holds its annual draft.
It's the moment when teams select players from college in the hopes of finding ones who can turn them into Super Bowl hopefuls (looking at you, Chicago Bears) or keep them as title contenders (that's you, Kansas City Chiefs).
The 2024 NFL draft will be held from April 25-27. Read on for more details on the event.
Where does the draft take place?
This year's edition of the draft will be held in Detroit in the downtown area surrounding Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza.
When is this year's draft?
This year's draft will take place over three days.
Round 1 is slated for April 25 at 8 p.m. ET, while the second and third rounds are scheduled for April 26 at 7 p.m. ET. Rounds 4 through 7 will be April 27 at 12 p.m.
How can I watch this year's draft?
The draft will be available to watch on NFL Network, NFL+, ABC, ESPN and ESPN Deportes. You can also stream it on the ABC app, ESPN app and ESPN Deportes app.
What should we expect from this year's draft?
USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy as the most outstanding college player following the 2022 season, is expected to go No. 1 overall , to the Chicago Bears.
Quarterback is a popular position to use with the top pick. Last year, Bryce Young, from the University of Alabama, went No. 1 to the Carolina Panthers. Since the 2000 draft, quarterbacks have been selected with the No. 1 pick 17 times.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who won the Heisman Trophy this past season, should also go high. North Carolina's Drake Maye, Michigan's J.J. McCarthy, Oregon's Bo Nix and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. are other high-profile quarterbacks who could go early this year.

In the opening stage, spectrum was there working on TVs. Place looks good. The server was super nice and attentive. Food was good. We all enjoyed our meals. Looking forward to a return visit!
Slow service but they just opened so somewhat excusable. Oysters weren't sucked appropriately. They were left attached to the adductor so you had to dig at the muscle with a fork, ruining the oyster. For an oyster spot this is pretty inexcusable. Oysters were low quality, green, murky, and still dirty. Crackers were stale. Cocktail sauce wasn't terrible but the horseradish topping was watery. The bartender was also seen cleaning out the dirty ice chest cooler with a shop vac. She went outside to dump the murky water.m, wiped her hands on her pants and went right back to serving food and pouring drinks.
