what to do in puerto del carmen lanzarote activities visit

This opinion is completely independent , based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.

1. Enjoy Playa Grande, the main beach

Playa Grande

Playa Grande is definitely one of Lanzarote’s most popular beaches, and the largest in the town center. We love its kilometer-long shoreline of golden sand and its depth, where everyone can find a little space. What’s more, its orientation is perfect for admiring the mountains of southern Lanzarote, the oldest part of the island.

On the beach you’ll find sun loungers, pedal boat and paddle rentals, showers… and anything else you might need. And along the square is the main avenue, with its many restaurants and stores.

2. Dolphin-watching boat trip

bravo tours lanzarote puerto del carmen

Our favorite activity was the dolphin-watching trip . We were very lucky and had a dazzling show! Of course, there’s no guarantee of seeing dolphins or whales, but in any case you’ll enjoy the beautiful views of the island, the pleasure of gliding over the water… And the excitement of looking off into the distance for a glimpse of a fin. And when you find them, it’s unforgettable!

Here’s our favorite tour to see them, in a comfortable boat where everyone has room to watch the dolphins: fast boat during the day – duration 1h30 with swimming: See details and availability

3. Swimming at Playa Chica, our favourite beach

Playa Chica

Playa Chica is our favorite beach in Puerto del Carmen. It’s a charming little cove, 60 m long. It is surrounded by a rocky barrier, creating a natural pool with calm waters. We found the sand very fine and the water quite transparent. She enchanted us. If you like snorkeling, this is also a great choice.

5. Stroll along the Paseo Maritimo

Paseo Maritimo in Puerto del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is a long town. And if you like walking with a view of the sea, there’s a magnificent path that runs along the entire coastline and beaches: the Paseo Maritimo. It’s really very pleasant, especially at sunrise. Along the way, in addition to the lovely views, you’ll be able to see some works of art and sculptures such as the Robalo.

6. Rancho Texas: zoo and water park

Rancho Texas - water park

Rancho Texas is a zoological and botanical park with a pool, kayak and waterslide section where you can cool off after admiring all the animals. The water park isn’t very big, but it’s an excellent combination for a great day out (see our comparison of Lanzarote’s water parks ).

7. Catamaran to Papagayo beaches

Catamaran in Papagayo

Lanzarote’s southwest coast is a must-see. You can get there by land, or take in the scenery from a catamaran, one of the best boat tours in Lanzarote . Papagayo and its neighboring golden sandy beaches are considered to be the best on Lanzarote and are one of the island’s main attractions. Their vast sandy expanses have remained largely untouched, with no paved roads leading to them. These beaches are located on the Macizo de los Ajaches, the island’s oldest territory, formed around 14 million years ago.

4h from Puerto del Carmen: Catamarans allow you to explore the entire south coast and perhaps catch a glimpse of dolphins. You can swim or kayak around the boat. See program and availability

OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Lanzarote

  • Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
  • A small car is all you need.
  • But you can also choose a larger one if you wish, as the parking spaces are rather large.
  • There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early .

8. Water sports: parasailing, jet skiing, paddle…

Parasailing in Puerto del Carmen

Duration: 10min flight Discover the pleasure of parasailing (parasailing), an activity we particularly enjoy, with the sensation of flying but less stress for take-off and landing. Enjoy exceptional views of Lanzarote and its volcanoes! Check availability and book your flight!

jet ski in Puerto del Carmen

If you prefer to stay on the water, you have other options too:

  • A jet-ski excursion for speed and views – see details and availability
  • A paddle outing to find your balance – see details and availability

9. Walk to Puerto Calero and return by boat

Puerto Calero

And finally, if you want to do a bit of walking, you can take the short, fairly flat hike between Puerto del Carmen and Puerto Calero. You’ll pass through town along the beaches, then through an undeveloped area before arriving at the Puerto Calero marina. Wear good shoes. You can return by water cab between Puerto Calero and Puerto del Carmen to enjoy the beautiful views from the sea (10min crossing). Buy your tickets.

And you can even continue on past Puerto Calero to the little village of Playa Quemada, where the views are even more beautiful! But there’s no boat back to Playa Quamada.

10. Submarine tour

Submarine in Lanzarote

Yellow submarine… Yellow submarine… We warn you, after this trick, you’ll have the song stuck in your head! This tour takes you a little way out of the harbor to discover the seabed. It’s pretty impressive to be underwater like that, knowing you’re not that deep… no stress! It’s an ideal activity for the whole family (except claustrophobics, of course). But the room is big enough, so we didn’t feel any anxiety.

The tour does not depart from the port of Puerto del Carmen, but from Puerto Calero . You can get there in 10 to 15 minutes by car, or take the boat-bus from the port of Puerto del Carmen.

Duration 1h. Places are limited! See availability and make reservations

11. Activities on land

Buggy in Lanzarote

If you’d like to explore off the beaten track with a few adrenaline-pumping moments thrown in, one of the most popular activities in Puerto del Carmen is a buggy trip. It’s all about having fun, taking to the dirt roads and discovering Lanzarote’s magnificent landscapes: volcanoes and cliffs.

Don’t forget to wear a bandana, cover your face and protect yourself from dust! Drivers must have a valid driver’s license

12. Enjoy Puerto del Carmen’s other beaches: Matagorda, Pocillos…

PLaya Matagorda

The first two beaches listed in this article are our favorites, but the city is quite long and you can find other beach options, with different styles:

  • Playa Matagorda and its northern section Playa de los Pocillos, very spacious but with slightly less fine sand.
  • The small cove of Playa El Baranquillo (at low tide)
  • The little cove in front of the Hotel Fariones
  • The small cove of Playa La Penita, hidden from the street

13. Minigolf and arcade games

minigolf in Puerto del Carmen

In Puerto del Carmen, you’ll also find two minigolfs:

  • Classic outdoor miniature golf: Forbidden Temple Park
  • and if it’s too hot (or even raining, although that’s not unusual…), there’s also an indoor miniature golf course with arcade games: Indoor Crazy Minigolf. Book your tickets now.

14 à 19. What to see around Puerto del Carmen

We strongly advise you to discover the whole island of Lanzarote. But, if you don’t want to do a lot of driving, check out places to see near Puerto del Carmen (less than 15min drive).

14. Las Grietas

bravo tours lanzarote puerto del carmen

Narrow canyons sculpted by the elements on the slopes of a volcano. A fascinating and easily accessible place, with several small canyons of different sizes to explore.

Driving time from Puerto del Carmen = 10min

15. La Geria

La Geria

One of the best things to do in Lanzarote is to discover the unique vineyards on the volcanic soil. They are mainly located in the center of the island between the volcanoes. It’s quite impressive to see these plants growing on the black soil when there’s nothing else around. La Geria is the best-known vineyard. You can taste and buy their wine, and admire the view from the parking lot!

Driving time from Puerto del Carmen = 15min

16. Montana Cuervo

Montana Cuervo

Our favourite volcano (and hike) in Lanzarote is Montana Cuervo. It’s one of the most popular, so we advise you to get there early. But it’s definitely worth it. The place is magnificent and you can even walk inside. Wear good shoes and protect yourself from the sun! Allow 1 to 2 hours, depending on the length of your visit and the number of photos you wish to take.

17. Montana Colorada

Montana Colorada

Just opposite Montana Cuervo, you can also take a tour of Montana Colorado, the colorful volcano with its huge volcanic bomb. Allow 1 hour for the tour. And, once again, wear good shoes and protect yourself from the sun!

18. Arrecife

Arrecife

Lanzarote’s capital is just south of Costa Teguise. It’s not a very touristy place, but there are still a few places to see. You can:

  • Tour the San Gines fishing port with touches of blue
  • Visit the historic church of San Gines
  • Admire the fort on the small island: Castillo de San Gabriel.

19. Playa Quemada

Playa Quemada

And on the other side of the world from the big city of Arrecife, you can choose to discover a small, isolated fishing village, with its white houses and magnificent views. Playa Quemada is really charming, and we recommend that you stop off at one of the little restaurants by the water!

20 and 21. Best excursions from Puerto del Carmen

20. timanfaya national park.

Timanfaya National Park

It’s a must-have. Timanfaya National Park is Lanzarote’s best excursion. It’s absolutely breathtaking! It’s a national park and you can’t walk around on your own. But even in a group, it’s fantastic to see the colors and power of the Earth.

Timanfaya National Park is located on the west coast of the island and consists entirely of volcanic soil. It’s protected. Next to the restaurant, you can see the water projected from the Earth and touch the hot rocks. After that, you board a bus to visit the park on the unique route they’ve created. This route offers fantastic panoramas of the many volcanic craters (formed mainly between 1730 and 1736), different types of lava and incredible colors.

  • Driving time from Puerto del Carmen = 30min
  • If you don’t want to drive, there are group excursions combined with other Lanzarote attractions: A little of everything in Lanzarote – see prices, photos and availability Los Hervideros – prices, pictures and availability With Tubes de laves – see prices, photos and availability
  • And much more – see the tours that include Timanfaya

21. Works by César Manrique

Cactus Garden

Lanzarote is also famous for being the home of architect and artist César Manrique. Above all, he liked to integrate architecture with the natural environment. It’s thanks to him that there are no major developments on the island and that it retains so much charm with all its little white houses.

One of our favorite places of his was the cactus garden, but there’s also a foundation, his house, the viewpoint over La Graciosa (Mirador del Rio) and Jamaeos del Aqua.

See the different tour options around Manrique’s works

Best things to do in Puerto del Carmen: other activities with or without children

Family bike.

bravo tours lanzarote puerto del carmen

We haven’t done any, but people seem to have a great time pedaling and exploring in groups. There are 2-seat and 4-seat versions. Who will be in charge?

Restaurants and nightlife

Restaurant Lani

The town is also full of restaurants. We preferred Playa Blanca’s gastronomic offerings, but you still have an excellent choice to find what you like. In the evening, you’ll also find plenty of bars with live music.

Gran Casino de Lanzarote

bravo tours lanzarote puerto del carmen

For something a little different, there’s also a small casino right in the heart of Puerto del Carmen. It’s called Gran Casino, although it’s quite small… you’ll find slot machines and a few gaming tables (blackjack, roulette, poker…).

And of course, if you like shopping, you’ll find plenty of boutiques of all styles (depending on the area).

playa grande puerto del carmen lanzarote

Since the resort is so big, it comes to no surprise that is has more than one beach.

The largest one is called Playa Grande and it has golden sand, clear water and an amazing view of the hills in Lanzarote.

The water here is usually calm, although it's an open beach, so it's ideal for swimming and relaxing, without worrying about the wind or big waves. There is also a section with sunbeds and umbrellas, so every type of visitor should be more than happy with this beach in Puerto del Carmen.

Behind Playa Grande, you have a long promenade, with beautiful views at sunset, which is the perfect place for long strolls along the ocean. On the other side of Avenida de Las Playas, you have a great number of bars, shops and restaurants, so you have plenty of choices for dinner and drinks.

playa chica best beach in puerto del carmen

As the name suggests, Playa Chica is a small lovely beach, located between Playa Grande and the Old Harbour.

It is sheltered by rocks, so the water is usually calm and ideal for swimming. If you want a change of scenery, come and spend the day at Playa Chica, which is a beach popular with locals as well as tourists. During the summer months, Playa Chica gets quite busy, so better come early if you want to catch a good spot near the sea.

rancho texas lanzarote

If you're looking for a day trip from Puerto del Carmen, Rancho Texas is the best option as it's close and easily accessible even if you don't have a rental car.

Rancho Texas is an animal park combined with a water park, so it provides an entire day of fun and activity for the entire family. It's situated only a few minutes away from Puerto del Carmen and you can spend a day looking at all the animals and the shows available like the ones with the Birds of Prey or the Sea Lions show.

You have lots of options, from the Biosfera Plaza Shopping Center to small shops with souvenirs, typical for most Spanish resorts.

At Biosfera Plaza Shopping Center you will find popular Spanish brands, like Zara, Bershka, Mango etc. Another large shop present in the resort is Fund Grube, ideal for cosmetics and perfumes since they always have some sort of promotion going on.

Pay attention when looking for souvenirs in the small shops, since many of them sell similar products, but the prices vary a lot. You will also find plenty of shops with alcohol and cigarettes at better prices than in the UK, Germany, or the EU in general.

If you're looking for a bigger shopping center with more brands and diversity we would advise you to hop on a bus and go to Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, which is only 20 minutes away from Puerto del Carmen.

Castillo san gabriel arrecife lanzarote

Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote and it is very close to Puerto del Carmen. You can get there by car or by bus, but you should know the city center is full of narrow streets and parking is sometimes hard to find.

The capital is not the prettiest city in the Canary Islands, we won't lie to you, but nonetheless, we enjoyed our visit and if you decide to go and see it for yourself we recommend you check out our list of things to do in Arrecife . Don't miss the area of Charco San Gines and also a walk to Castillo San Gabriel.

jetski lanzarote

Enjoy a jet ski activity with amazing views of the volcanic coastline of Lanzarote.

You can choose tours with a duration between 40, 60, or 120 minutes and the price is per jetski, so 2 people can go together.

This jet ski experience is one of the fun activities to try in Puerto del Carmen which is super popular with teenagers and adults alike since it's such a thrilling way of seeing Lanzarote's coastline.

  • Includes Life jackets, Wetsuit, Lockers, Guide
  • Ride a jetski along the coast of Lanzarote

This is a weekly market in Puerto del Carmen in Plaza del Varadero, with various stalls and stands, from food to craft items and even the usual fake bags and watches. It's not as big as Teguise Market , but it's a great way to spend a morning if you are staying in Puerto del Carmen.

walk puerto del carmen to puerto calero

Puerto Calero is just a short distance away from Puerto del Carmen and if you want to admire the beautiful views of the ocean you can walk along the coastline between the two places. The entire walk takes around 1 hour and you should wear comfortable shoes, as the path is sometimes rocky and slippery.

If you are tired and don't want to return on foot, you can opt for the bus or a taxi. In Puerto Calero, you will find a nice marina with some great restaurants and cafes.

  • 25-minute boat trip
  • Multiple daily departures
  • There a bar onboard (drinks not included in ticket price)

submarine lanzarote puerto del carmen

How about a dive to see the amazing marine life off the coast of Lanzarote?

You'll find this yellow submarine in Puerto Calero, which is easily accessible from Puerto del Carmen, as we've already explained before.

This is a favorite activity for the kids, but it's a nice experience for adults as well, especially if you're not a diver but you still want to see the ocean floor and fishes.

  • Duration 1 hour
  • Experience a 1-hour dive on board a real submarine, taking you 30 meters (100 foot) below the unexplored waters of Lanzarote

Puerto del Carmen is divided between the new area and the old town, but even if you are staying on the new side of town you should come and explore the Old Town Harbour. There are many good restaurants on this side of Puerto del Carmen and in the evenings it's a very lively place, with bars and clubs keeping the party alive until morning hours.

scuba diving lanzarote

What to do in Puerto del Carmen for adventurous holidaymakers: try scuba diving and discover the magic life of the ocean surrounding Lanzarote.

For the first dive, you'll descend to a maximum depth of just 6 metres until you gain confidence to be in the water. Depending on what your needs are, Matagorda may be the best fit for you to spend your holidays. You can easily walk from Puerto del Carmen to Matagorda, where there is a large and beautiful beach, ideal for families. In the evenings, it's not as noisy and busy as Puerto del Carmen, which may be what some people are looking for, but you still get good restaurants and bars to eat and have a pint.\

playa papagayo beach lanzarote

If you're looking for the most beautiful beaches in Lanzarote, then you needn't look further than Playas de Papagayo . Although located far away from any resort on the island, this collection of beaches are the pride and joy of Lanzarote and they are definitely worth a visit while you're on holiday here.

If you don't have a rental car or you simply don't want to drive all the way there, you can hop on a catamaran cruise, which also includes lunch and unlimited drinks and it's a fun way to see the beaches of Costa de Papagayo while stopping to swim and snorkel along the way.

This is the only open-air cinema in Lanzarote and it's on the rooftop of Biosfera Shopping Centre.

Since this is a popular resort in Lanzarote, there are lots of events all year round, from the Carnival of Puerto del Carmen in February/March, to the St. Patrick's Day party , the Ironman Lanzarote competition, Holi Lanzarote - the Hindu festival, Santa Parade before Christmas, the festivities for the Three Magic Kings (Los Reyes Magos) in January and many many more. This is a great way to enjoy the Spanish way of life, by participating in the various fiestas and celebrating all the cultures that live here together.

The great thing about Puerto del Carmen is that it's so diverse and there are so many bars and restaurants that you simply can't get bored. From the typical Spanish cuisine, to British food, Mexican, Irish pubs, Polish cuisine, Asian and even Caribbean, there are so many choices that everyone can find something to their taste.

This is the house where Jose Saramago has spent the last 18 years of his life and one can understand why he loved Lanzarote.

The house is open from Monday to Saturday and it's actually located in Tias. You can reach it by public transport using bus lines L-5 + L-19 + L-34 + L-60 and getting down at the Tias Centro stop.

Puerto del Carmen has a great location in Lanzarote, close to the airport and sort of in the middle of the island, which makes it great as a base if you want to explore. Besides the list above of things to do in Puerto del Carmen, you can venture out of town and take an island tour with one of the local companies, or if you have a rental car you can visit on your own.

The most popular day trips from Puerto del Carmen are:

  • Playa Blanca - visit the southernmost resort in Lanzarote, where you can go for a dive in the first underwater museum in Europe.
  • Costa Teguise - another popular resort, this time up north from Puerto del Carmen. Here you have the Aquapark, which is great, especially for kids.
  • Timanfaya National Park - this is the symbol of Lanzarote and you should definitely take the bus tour through the volcanoes.
  • La Geria - the wine country in Lanzarote, which is a great experience if you are a wine lover. The same tour that takes you to Timanfaya also includes a visit and wine-tasting experience at La Geria.

Lanzarote Tours FAQS

At OkLanzarote we offer you:

  • The best selection of tours and activities for guaranteed satisfaction.
  • Personalized treatment . Our Customer Service will be available every day of the year from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for any questions or incidents.
  • A leisure guide to Lanzarote when you book with us.
  • Best price guaranteed . You won’t find the same excursions for less.
  • Complete information on each excursion and the closest pick-up to your accommodation.
  • Guaranteed satisfaction as shown by our clients’ comments and evaluations.
  • More than 10 years of experience in the Canary Islands.

For the bus excursions, when making your reservation and entering the data of your accommodation or address, the closest pick-up place and time to your accommodation will appear automaticall y. A photo of the collection point and a map with directions on how to get to the collection point will appear on the reservation voucher.

We do not offer pick-ups at all hotels to speed up the pick-up time for all clients.

In the other excursions, once you make your reservation, we’ll contact you to provide you with the closest pick-up time and place to your accommodation.

In any case, in the Frequently Asked Questions of almost all the excursions, the pick-up and drop-off times appears depending on the area where you’re staying.

Reservations are always made online , neither by phone nor in person.

During the booking process we’ll tell you how much to pay, since in most cases, unless it’s a group of more than 4 people, a guarantee has to be paid when booking, and the rest can be paid in cash, at the meeting point.

There are basically two payment methods: 1.- Paypal and 2.- Credit or debit card.

If you want to guarantee a spot, book as far in advance as possible as we can fill all the places for the day you’re interested in at any time. Additionally, if you cancel as far in advance as possible, we will refund you for the amount paid as a guarantee.

Even though you can visit a large part of the monuments and emblematic places within Lanzarote on your own, we recommend excursions with guided tours for various reasons:

  • To avoid the long queues that form when entering some CACTs.
  • An official guide will give you all the information about the island and the places you visit and will answer any questions you may have. That way, you’ll get the most out of the tour.
  • You’ll travel in comfortable buses, always being able to admire the landscape.
  • In the Timanfaya National Park visit, even if you go by yourself, in addition to having to buy the park entrance ticket, you’ll have to pay to take the bus tour along the volcano highway. You can’t do it on your own.
  • We’ll pick you up and drop you off back at your accommodation or close to it.
  • You’ll be able to see more things in less time. The routes are planned to maximize our time and to visit the greatest number of places, while always having more than enough time to see them.

In addition to guided visits to the most impressive places in Lanzarote, we also offer excursions to La Graciosa, boat trips to Isla de Lobos and a day trip to Fuerteventura.

Children can do all the tours, but we have prepared a list of the best tours for families with children in Lanzarote .

Yes, please check the best tours available for cruise passengers here.

Here are the excursions you can do depending on the day of the week.

Day trips and excursions in Lanzarote

Enjoy the best Lanzarote excursions in Lanzarote. Check complete information of each tour with pictures, reviews, maps and details of the route. Book with the best price guaranteed and enjoy some of the most beautiful moments with our day trips.

Lanzarote is like a large theme park full of attractions that are worth visiting through the different organized excursions that we propose. In our tours, you will find the main places to see and visit in Lanzarote so that you make the most of your stay on the island.

For your convenience, all of the tours have pick-up points in the tourist centres of Costa Teguise , Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca , in addition to a pick-up point in the capital, Arrecife .

We have divided the excursions into three main categories: bus tours, boat trips and jeep excursions.

You can do the tours with children , alone, with your partner or with a group of friends.

The bus excursions are the most popular for comfortably getting to know the island’s most emblematic places. The tours take place in modern buses driven by expert drivers. The guides who accompany you are official guides who will illustrate the history, culture and stories of the landmarks throughout the trip.

The variety offered by these tours allows you to visit the most impressive places on the island in just a few days. Because most of our routes combine the different landmarks, we can divide the itineraries into three groups:

In the volcano tours ,we will visit Timanfaya National Park , the island’s great attraction and most-visited place. Most of Lanzarote’s volcanoes are concentrated here. On these tours, you can camel ride , go on a tour along the volcano road and see for yourself, through different experiments, why this park is also known as the Fire Mountains.

In the cave excursions , we will visit two magical places on the island, two volcanic tubes created by the Corona Volcano where art and nature have been combined: Los Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes.

You can also visit other works of Cesar Manrique in this unique island of the Canary Islands: the Jardín de cactus ( Cactus Garden ), el monumento al campesino (Monument to the Farmer), el Mirador del Río ( River Lookout), Lagomar, the house where Manrique lived (which is now the headquarters for the Cesar Manrique Foundation ).

On our bus tours through Lanzarote we will also see places as outstanding as the Green Lagoon, the Salinas de Janubio, Teguise, the Hervideros or La Geria.

Day trips from Lanzarote

We also offer the possibility of doing a day trip from Lanzarote to Fuerteventura in order to explore the most important places to the north of the island.

On the boat trips , you can choose the option that suits you best in terms of the environment, route, type of boat, schedule and location of departure. You can do boat trips to Papagayo Beach , a La Graciosa tour from Lanzarote , or a Lobos island tour to enjoy a spectacular sunset, see dolphins or do an aquatic activity like kayaking or snorkelling.

The Jeep safaris are ideal for getting to know the island and enjoying an adventure at the same time. On these Jeep routes, you can visit places that are difficult for other vehicles to access, such as those on dirt roads or that are very narrow and/or winding. Visiting Playa de Famara, Playa de Papagayo, or Santa Sport or walking inside a volcano can only be done on these Jeep tours.

In short, Lanzarote has many sites to discover and visit, impressive places that we make available to you with our different excursions so that you can enjoy them with the greatest guarantees, comfort and safety.

We only hope that upon finishing any of our tours, you return to your accommodations with the satisfaction of having enjoyed one of the best days of your stay in Lanzarote, full of unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

8 Best Beaches in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote

Home | Travel | Europe | Spain | Canary Islands | Lanzarote | 8 Best Beaches in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote

Puerto del Carmen is one of the main tourist hubs in Lanzarote, and one of my favorite towns on the island. With nearly five miles of incredible beaches in Puerto del Carmen , you can easily spend the day sunbathing, practicing watersports, and admiring the lovely scenery.

Several of the best beaches in Puerto del Carmen are in an area known as Grandes Playas , which consists of a series of fine sand beaches. Even outside of this area, there are other small coves and picturesque beaches you can’t miss.

Some of these beaches are among the best places to visit in Puerto del Carmen and offer convenient services and facilities for a comfortable beach day. To help you choose which Puerto del Carmen beach to visit, I’ll share my top recommendations with details about each.

1. Playa Grande, the most famous beach in Puerto del Carmen

Playa Grande , also known as Playa Blanca, is one of the best beaches in Puerto del Carmen , and the most popular one. It stretches over half a mile along the touristic center of town, and while it’s an urban beach, it boasts a beautiful environment with golden sand and calm waters.

Playa Grande, playa grande puerto del carmen

In fact, Playa Grande is considered one of the best beaches in Lanzarote , and its proximity to the Avenida de las Playas promenade means you’ll be close to all kinds of shops, bars, and restaurants. Not only that, but the beach has all the necessary services you need for your vacation, including sunbeds, umbrella rentals, toilets, showers, parking, and accessible ramps.

This beach in Puerto del Carmen is a great place for families as well as those who love watersports and aquatic activities like jet skiing and parasailing. If you’d like to do the latter activity, I recommend this tour , which lets you soar up to 200 feet in the air for panoramic views of the coast.

2. Playa Chica, the best beach in Puerto del Carmen for diving

Playa Chica is next to Playa Grande, and it’s another top beach in Puerto del Carmen that you should check out. What makes Playa Chica stand out is its contrasting golden sand and turquoise waters as well as the marine biodiversity along its coast.

The beach is just 200 feet long, but it’s a lovely place to sunbathe and swim in the clear waters. You can even find lava flows along the coast, making this a one-of-a-kind environment you can’t miss. Also, even though it’s a smaller beach, there are modern services that will help you fully enjoy your stay.

Playa Chica, playa chica puerto del carmen lanzarote

Of course, the crown jewel of this lava beach in Puerto del Carmen is the seabed, so don’t miss the chance to explore this underwater world. We decided to try scuba diving at Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote , and it was an impressive experience!

There are several diving centers in the area, so I recommend a scuba diving tour like this one . You’ll get all the equipment and training you need to take a 40-minute dive through the colorful waters of Playa Chica.

3. Playa de los Pocillos, one of the most beautiful Puerto del Carmen beaches

Playa de los Pocillos is a little over half a mile long and owes its name to the nearby community of Los Pocillos . In addition to its golden sand, the changes in the tide create small holes along the coastline, and these natural pools are popular among small children.

This makes Playa de los Pocillos one of the best beaches in Puerto del Carmen for families since kids can safely wade in the shallow waters. Moreover, the entire beach is surrounded by pretty gardens and palm trees, creating a paradisiacal atmosphere.

Although this is a windy beach, the waters remain calm, so you can enjoy a nice swim during your visit. Further out from the coast, you may even see windsurfers and kite-surfers practicing on the water.

With its crystal clear sea, golden sand, and proximity to several restaurants and bars, this beach at Puerto del Carmen is a must-see. There are even lifeguards, lounge chairs, umbrella rentals, and restrooms, plus it’s easy to get to. From Puerto del Carmen’s town center, it’s a 15-minute drive or bus ride.

4. Playa Matagorda, a quiet beach in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote

If you’re looking for a quiet beach at Puerto del Carmen , one of the best options is Playa Matagorda . With half a mile of fine sand and calm waters, it’s the ideal spot to rest, sunbathe, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance. While it’s a great place for chilling out, it’s a windy beach, so it’s popular with windsurfers.

Playa Matagorda, best beach in puerto del carmen

Playa Matagorda is connected to Guacimeta Beach , the last beach in Puerto del Carmen , so take advantage of your visit to walk around and see two tranquil beaches in one day.

Besides, getting to Playa Matagorda is easy since it only takes about 20 minutes to drive or take a bus from the city center.

5. Playa Pe ña Grande, the best Puerto del Carmen beach for families

Playa Peña Grande is another Puerto del Carmen beach that I recommend, especially for families with children. It’s a quiet beach that has all the services you need for a comfortable day on the beach.

Playa Peña Grande, playa grande puerto del carmen lanzarote

5. Playa Peña Grande, the best Puerto del Carmen beach for families

This small cove is only about 130 feet long, but it’s very beautiful thanks to its fine, golden sand and stone walls. Just a few feet away is the waterfront promenade and a garden area where you can have a picnic or let the little ones play.

Moreover, this is one of the beaches in Puerto del Carmen with sunbeds and other rentals, so you’ll have everything you need to relax on the Lanzarote coast. To get there, you can take public transportation or drive.

6. Playa Lima, a great beach in Puerto del Carmen for watersports

Playa Lima is another interesting beach in Puerto del Carmen right by Lanzarote Airport. Stretching about half a mile, its fine sand is the perfect spot to lay out a towel and watch the planes go by.

Playa Lima, beach at puerto del carmen

Despite its proximity to the airport, this is a quiet beach with few crowds, so you shouldn’t have any problems enjoying the calm waters. You may even see a plane flying overhead, just a few hundred feet above you.

Besides the planes, Playa Lima is a popular Puerto del Carmen beach for activities like windsurfing, so keep your eyes peeled for athletes practicing this sport in the distance. On land, there is a garden area, a playground, restrooms, and a parking lot, so you can drive here or take public transportation.

7. Los Fariones Beach, the first beach in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote

Hotel Fariones was the first resort to open in Puerto del Carmen and all of Lanzarote. Its opening sparked a tourist movement throughout the island, making Lanzarote and the Canary Islands a popular tourist destination.

Los Fariones Beach owes its name to this iconic hotel, although this Puerto del Carmen beach stands out on its own. It spans 200 feet and boasts calm, clear waters, golden sand, and a beautiful landscape. It’s also one of the quietest beaches in Puerto del Carmen despite being close to the town center.

Here, you’ll see the famous “ muellito ”, a small platform over the water that serves as a makeshift diving board. If you want to jump into the refreshing sea below, or just visit Los Fariones Beach, you must follow the signs along the old stone path. The route is a bit neglected and begins in Pila de la Barrilla , next to Playa Chica.

8. Playa El Barranquillo, another must-see beach in Puerto del Carmen

Finally, be sure to check out Playa El Barranquillo , a scenic and peaceful beach in Puerto del Carmen where you can escape from the crowded urban beaches near town. This beach has an extensive coastline stretching from Playa Grande to La Peñita Beach and contains several smaller coves.

Along with its fine golden sand and incredible natural environment, Playa El Barranquillo is close to shops, markets, and Avenida de las Playas, Puerto del Carmen’s commercial center. So, it gives you the best of both worlds: tranquility and seclusion as well as lively bars and restaurants.

Playa El Barranquillo, puerto del carmen to playa blanca

Personally, I think this is one of the best beaches in Puerto del Carmen because it’s naturally beautiful and often goes unnoticed by tourists. Here, you can see volcanic rock scattered in the sand, which adds a wild, rustic touch. One of my favorite parts of visiting this beach is watching the sunrise or sunset from the coast.

If you’re visiting with family, Playa El Barranquillo is a good option, although the sand can be rocky. There are restrooms and showers, but no lifeguards, so keep an eye on the kids.

Toro Bravo Restaurante Grill

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

My husband and I have just visited Torobravo twice and I cannot recommend this place enough. The food (pizza/ paella/meat) and pina coladas were delicious. We normally don't go to the same place twice as there is so much choice along the strip, but the... super friendly staff -( I think the guys name was Richard, he couldn't have looked after us any better) combined with the ambience, location, cleanliness, food, drink and value, we will definitely return each time we are in lanzarote! More

Firstly the waiters were excellent and very attentive. Secondly I was presented with the best at one stake I have ever tasted. Two huge steak were brought to me and I was asked which one I wanted. I chose one and it was cooked to... perfection. It will definitely be going to this restaurant again next time we go to lanzarote. I can’t praise this place enough. Also the food was good value for money. 19 euros fifty for a massive T bone steak with chips. The nearest we found was 24 euros for one half the size. Give it a visit you won’t be disappointed More

bravo tours lanzarote puerto del carmen

We had a lunch here during our first day in Lanzarote. The guy who served us was super friendly and kind. The food was delicious and portions were very generous. We had paella mixta, chicken fajitas and croquetas de jamon. It was such a great... welcome for us! More

bravo tours lanzarote puerto del carmen

After eating here before on our holiday and enjoying the meal we decided to try it again on our last night. We wanted to eat inside as it was a little chilly and we were a party of 12 so they put us in the... back room, by the kitchen. To say the service was chaotic would have been an understatement. The table was messy, table cloths thrown across and not smoothed out, we had to go and find some cheap paper napkins ourself from a pile near the bar area, no offer of bread rolls. We were forever trying to speak to the waiters as they rushed by to collect meals from the kitchen serving hatch. Everyone looked so stressed. None of the friendly customer service we had experienced in the past. The meals were ok, but I think we’ve learned a lesson that if you want a good experience from this restaurant, sit outside where everyone can see you, otherwise don’t bother!! The friendly customer service is all show!!! More

*The food was OK but the waiters don't have a clue about a good customer service. They were talking to each other shouting from one side of the restaurant to the other. Talking also about their customers. Taking advantage there were not Spanish spekers except... me. I had a very stressful dinner. If you speak Spanish or understand avoid to come here. More

Visited here on New year's eve. Our party of 4 enjoyed every minute. Food was outstanding and all the staff were very attentive and couldn't do anymore for you. Do yourself a favour and drop in for a bite to eat you wont be let... down More

Twice in a week we (nan, mum, daughter) visited this amazing, friendly, superb food restaurant. We were welcomed and looked after by Daniel and the team. Generous helpings of food and drinks, we highly recommend.

Super service making that meal a special for you. The Duck a L’Orange was lovely. I tried it as a change from the usual steak and it did not disappoint. Thankyou must go to the whole staff team.

Came for a lovely meal with my boyfriend and the staff made it that much better! Every member of staff was lovely and made the experience so enjoyable. The food was also amazing. Would definitely recommend. We are going back tonight it was that good!

Excellent food and nice restaurant but under staffed, the place was rammed and there was only 5 waiters to serve drinks and food. I'd definitely give it another go

My wife and I were heartily greeted outside and shown to a table and forgotten.the table had just been vacated and required laying up. This took a while, then when they came to take our order laid up the table. We had a starter and... had just finished when we saw our main course given a tour of the restaurant, we called to the waiter who had to place our meal on another table while he cleared us. Having finished our main and cleared we were not offered dessert or coffee, we were totally ignored and eventually rose to leave when we were approached to pay the bill. We complained about the treatment we received and the lack of service to the head waiter? Who agreed with our comments although totally embarrassed offered no apology and instead expected us to pay the full bill, which we stupidly did. This is the first review I have ever done, but if I stop one person being insulted it has been worthwhile. John W..England More

Service terrible, food even worse. Whole family spent 3 days in bed sick after eating there. Please avoid at all costs unless you need to lose some weight. I lost half a stone in 3 days!!!!!

So good we ate here twice. On the first evening I had a local fish as recommended by the waiter and I wasn't dissapointed, my wife had a pasta dish. The next evening we returned and both had the T bone steak which was perfectly... cooked and great quality. Staff great friendly and welcoming. We will return next time we are in PDC More

Looked very nice and popular so tried one evening. Modern surroundings and nice food and sangria. Sea bass was beautifully cooked albeit a tad too much oil for me. All in all a good restaurant worthy of trying.

Had a meal here on our last night on holiday - wish we had given it a try earlier in the week!! Excellent meal and customer service, the guy on street was NOT pushy at all, allowing us to look at the menu board at... our own leisure and only offered to answer any questions we had - really appreciated! The meal was very good quality and value, the customer service was also excellent, all the staff were very happy and willing to chat/joke. We didn't feel rushed at all and the waiting staff just left us alone. Just sorry we didn't try it sooner but will definitely return next time we are in PDC. Can recommend for quality, service and value. I overheard a couple on the next table ask for the "set menu" which I believe is a 3 course special?? We ordered off the main menu and was more than happy with our choice. More

Her vil du opleve at have alle feriefavoritter i én by: Strand, shopping og strålende arkitektur.

Vil du helt op i højderne?

Lad os give dig tre gode grunde her.

Buen provecho!
