Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo & Safari is home to over 1,700 animals and 229 species! A visit to the Giraffe Serengeti brings you close enough to one of the tallest mammals in the world. When the giraffe leans down to nibble out of your hand, they might steal a kiss from you instead! The Parakeet Encounter is on everyone’s favorite list! These colorful comical characters are sure to make everyone smile when they land on your hand, head or shoulder just to say “Hi”. Guests will have the opportunity to hand feed many of our animals “critter food.” This is zoo approved treats that can be purchased in the gift shop. Or you can purchase petting food pellets from our vending machines throughout the park. Don’t be surprised when many of our residents come looking for a hand-out! Critter food/ petting food pellets can be fed to goats, sheep, deer, camel and aoudads. Or buy trout pellets from the feed machines and toss into the pond and see the entire surface come alive with a frenzy of trout or koi. Guests can just sit and relax in this peaceful and tranquil area.

The fun begins as soon as you step foot through the zoo’s main entrance! Enjoy the awesome petting zoo. Get up close and learn about amazing animals at the outdoor amphitheater. Leopard and tigers, oh my! Come and see many rare and endangered animals featuring the new Snow Leopards.

Take a Tour of a Wildlife Safari Zoo in Central Pennsylvania

Guided safari tours in central pennsylvania.

The dry plains of Africa and the woodlands and forests of Australia have never felt closer thanks to the incredible safari tour at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. Like our other amazing attractions , the safari allows you and your family to see first-hand the various animals native to those lands and learn about their natural habitats. Discover more about our animal safari in Central Pennsylvania and all you can expect to see on your journey.

Guided Safari offered May thru October.

Self Drive-Thru Safari Available Only in April and November

Guests who wish to enjoy our safari tour from the comfort of their vehicles can do so with our self-drive-thru option.  VEHICLES WITH HARD DOORS AND HARD TOP ROOFS ONLY. Those interested in this experience should first read the Drive-Thru Rules to ensure their safety and the wellbeing of our animals. You will be required to sign a vehicle waiver prior to entering the safari fields.

The Drive-Thru Safari pre-season/post-season option is available on select weekends only in April and November, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost of admission is $9 per person for all ages three and older.

Please note: Only the Safari Tour Fields are open for the Drive-Thru option. Zoo exhibits are open from May 1st through October during the regular season.

Say Hello to Our Animals

One of the best parts about our safari zoo in Pennsylvania is all the different animals you may see. More than 400 animals roam the safari fields freely at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. You may meet curious critters that are just as interested in you as you are in them — it is common for animals to approach the tour bus and get close enough for guests to reach out and touch them. Interacting with these animals is sure to be an unforgettable and highly beneficial experience for your party.

Our New Safari Station

Dedicated to providing our guests with the best possible experience, we are happy to introduce our safari station. Built and launched in 2015, the safari station includes the following:

• A comfortable holding area large enough to fit guests as they wait for their turn to hop aboard the cruiser
• A snack shop where you can grab a drink, some food for the ride, and even feed to give the animals while on the tour
• Well-maintained restrooms for your convenience

Things to Keep in Mind for Your Next Safari Tour

To help guests get the most out of their animal safari in Pennsylvania, we encourage all to be mindful of when the tours begin. Rides go out right when the park opens, and guests are welcome to come early to avoid crowds or waiting in long lines. Our tours last around 45 minutes, providing plenty of time to take in the entire tour without tiring out the youngest in your group. The last tour departs our Safari Station one hour before closing.

Please be advised that we do not accept reservations for our tours as they are offered on a first come, first serve basis. However, even if you miss your preferred time, another is coming up shortly!

Animal Park Rules

Safety is our top priority—for both our guests and our animal friends. Please observe the following animal park rules so that you and others can have the most enjoyable time possible.

Calendar and Hours of Operation

The calendar below outlines our hours throughout the year. It is color-coded for quick reference. Our hours of operation change throughout the year, so please take them into consideration when planning your visit .

As part of our operations policy, the last ticket will be sold one hour before close on each day. However, we strongly recommend arriving at least 2 hours before close so that your party has the opportunity to see the entire park.

The tour bus schedule varies by season, but it will be posted on-site when you arrive. The park resources on this page can give you a general idea of when it is best to use the bus tours.

Severe Weather Policy

Snowy and icy conditions create dangerous driving conditions throughout the park. As such, we will close down the park if severe weather occurs or is expected. If there are days when the high does not reach 32 degrees, we may also close.

HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDELINES

While we will still sell tickets at our in-park ticket booth, you can purchase them online to expedite the entry process. Those with advance tickets may enter in a separate line. We encourage our guests to use the discounted online ticket options.  If online tickets are sold out for a particular day, you can still purchase tickets for that day in person at the park.

Hand sanitizer is available at every cash register and several other places in the park.

Tour Buses will operate at full capacity. Park staff cleans these regularly.

Dining rooms and birthday party rooms will operate at full capacity. Park staff cleans these areas regularly. Please be considerate of others and throw away all trash in appropriate trash cans.

Face coverings are optional for employees and guests alike.

We at Wild Animal Safari are invested in the health and well-being of all our employees and guests and are taking proactive steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We encourage the following: • Sending Any Employee Home That May Have Symptoms of Acute Respiratory Illness • Promoting Proper Hand Washing and Hygiene • Promoting Proper Coughing/Sneezing Etiquette • Disinfecting Frequently Touched Objects and Surfaces. • Buckets for Giraffe and/or Tortoise Lettuce are Thoroughly Disinfected After Each Use.

Experience all 3 areas of our park: Drive-Thru, Walk-Thru, and Museum of Prehistoric Life. We are the only Drive-Thru Safari Adventure in Illinois so don’t miss out! Drive your vehicle on our mile-long path exploring our animal sanctuary to see over 100 exotic animals including Bison, Water Buffalo, Zonkey and more right from the comfort of your car. Petting Zoo feed may be purchased for $1 per cup and you can watch our Pygmy Goats, Texas Doll Sheep, young Bison, Mini Micro Scottish Highland Cow, and Fallow Deer feed right from the palms of your hands! Behind The Scenes

For the ultimate up-close and personal animal experience, ride with our guide as we go off the beaten path and make a trail through the Drive-Thru in our UTV. Your guide will also take you through areas of the Walk-Thru as you meet and learn about the animals that live there. You will get to meet our Kangaroos and Muntjac up-close and personal. Arrive early so you will have a chance to visit the Petting Zoo and explore the Museum of Prehistoric Life on your own.
