Overall, our 8-day trip to Greece in September of 2023 was fantastic! Our trip started in Athens where we had excellent accommodations (including breakfast) and a great tour of the Acropolis, the museum, and the Temple of Poseidon. We arrived in Mykonos on Day 3 to find our hotel had moved to a different location on the island. The company accommodated us with a vehicle as the hotel was in a completely different part of the island. Thankfully someone in our group was willing to drive! The hotel was really nice and located within walking distance of shops/dining. Our final part of the trip was in Santorini. The tours in Santorini were amazing (afternoon/dinner/sunset cruise on a catamaran and a bus tour of the island with wine tasting)! However, the hotel accommodations we less than desirable in Santorini. Our room was very old and rundown. All transfers to/from the airports/ferries were excellent, as well! I would highly recommend utilizing Tourratdar for your upcoming holiday! They were accommodating and communicative throughout the entire process. Personally, in hindsight, we would've planned for 1 additional day in Athens and 1 additional day in Santorini.

Trip to Greece for 7 Days (Partially Guided)

Overall the trip was quite successful! The excursions and scheduled activities were all excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The island of Delos and the volcano/hot springs tours we especially wonderful, and our time spent on these activities was very well spent. The communication and planning of all these activities (itinerary, provided tickets and documents) was executed very well, and the team assisting with the trip was prompt and professional in their communication with us at all points of the trip. Our dedicated WhatsApp was such a valuable resource and we always felt like help was just a text away if there were any issues we knew our trip's team could help out with. However there was some issues surrounding transportation on and between the islands. The ferry services between the islands was unreliable and resulted in lost time or stress while traveling. Our ferry from Mykonos to Santorini was two hours late, and this resulted in losing much of the free time we had allocated for that day. Our ferry from Santorini to Athens arrived one hour late and almost caused us to miss our ticket window for our acropolis tour. Perhaps the only reason we made it was because of aggressively leaving the ship and being able-bodied enough to RUN uphill to the Parthenon. Overall, it should be assumed that these ferries will run late when scheduling future travel. Personally, we would have preferred the absolute earliest ferries off each island to ensure maximum time at the next destination, in exchange for more time to sleep in. The bus systems on both Mykonos and Santorini were very troublesome. There were no maps, time schedules were varied and often not timely, payment for bus rides was at the discretion of the driver or station, and overall felt very unorganized.This made it difficult to truly explore the islands because the method of doing so was stressful and difficult to navigate. The two of us have no issue walking most places, but given the hilly terrain and complete lack of sidewalks this did not feel like a valid option or at times felt dangerous. The hotel on Santorini was technically centrally located, but the lack of public transportation and terrain of the island more or less left us stranded. Our first night on Santorini was disappointing both because of our arrival time and location. Being centrally located on these islands is overall less of a benefit than being seaside and/or near known attractions (beaches being one of the main tourist attractions). We also wish we had one more day on Santorini for a wine tour because of the vibrant and unique wines on the island. More detail, advice, or factoring these into itineraries would have greatly improved our experience or this same trip for future customers.

Best of Athens, Mykonos & Santorini

All transfer services, ferry arrangements and excursions were very well organized, reliable and professionally handled. Very happy with that. We absolutely loved the Mykonian Kyma hotel in Mykonos which was part of our package. Aegean View in Kamari, Santorini did have a great view and location, but the hotel, especially after Kyma, was just OK. It has great potential, but definitely not 5 star and breakfast was downright awful. Brown Hotel in Athens was just OK. Great breakfast and room was clean and bathroom quite nice, but the room wasn’t tiny and dark. Location in Omonia was not dangerous at all and close walk to Monisteraki Square, but definitely seedy and LOUD. The agents were very responsive to questions before we left. I think the trip should be extended by a couple of days since so much time is lost traveling between locations. I also would consider ending in Santorini and flying home from there since an entire day was lost just traveling to Athens for flight the next day, and arrived in Athens too late to really do anything. Overall, we would recommend this trip with some tweaks, but we definitely were pleased with the services provided by the agencies and would recommend them.

Outstanding Service! Excellent communication throughout the process, from booking to final checkout. Even in the single instance when weather did not cooperate and forced to cancel a sailing activity, the team helped finding and booking a good alternative. Great hotels and highly professional local services. Perfect if you are looking for a fun, stress-free, fully organized vacation. Beats the crazy self-planning/booking/coordination hassle many times over.

We had to cancel our trip, and the team behind our trip was very helpful and very speedy in their responses. We received a full refund, and that will be used for our new trip.

We enjoyed the experience but there were definitely a few mishaps which needed to be resolved. Positives were the day tours booked in Santorini and Mykonos, absolutely great days which were highlights of our trip. Two out of three of our hotels were different to the ones listed - which was fine, but one was a 3 star in Athens which was a bit disappointing given the name of the tour referring to 4 star hotels. Both hotels in Santorini and Mykonos were beautiful though. We did have issues with transport not being booked for the day tour included in Athens, and had to reach out to rectify this. I think this tour could be improved with more active communication from tour radar and a more detailed itinerary so where knew where to be for transport and when it was booked. We had to ask for a taxi to be booked for our Athens tour as the meet up spot was a 45 minute walk away and this wasn’t communicated to us earlier, but then the taxi never showed up due to road works. I understand things happen but we were never told by your radar about this and had to rush last minute to catch the train to our location once we realised the taxi wasn’t going to show. We also had no information about how to get our ferry tickets and had to ask for instructions. I did get in touch with tour radar and let them know about our disappointments and they did send us a nice bottle of wine and fruit platter afterwards, and we appreciated the sentiment. Overall it was a good tour, but the communication could be improved :)

A passion turned into a profession. That’s my story. So simple and blissful as it sounds. When you grow up in a bilingual environment (mum German, dad Greek) and you spend your summers in your family-run fish tavern with visitors from around the world, you easily get the hospitality bug.

I am Maria-Eleni Sfaellou, a licensed tourist guide for Greece – expert on Mykonos & Delos. I speak Greek, English, German and Spanish. My university degree is in Translation and Foreign Languages which I obtained from the Ionian University, Corfu, Greece. Mykonos Food Walking Tour

Duration 3-3.5 hours.

If you are a passionate foodie and getting to know a place for you means savoring local dishes, then you are going to love this tour! The history and traditions of Mykonos will be brought to you through the local and Greek cuisine. We will discover all landmarks of Mykonos town, the famous Windmills, Little Venice and the big white Church of Paraportiani making five degustation stops along the way for sweet and savory treats.

There is nothing more memorable than experiencing Mykonos town like a local. The last stop of this Mykonos Food Walking Tour will be at “Yialos” , the Mykonos town waterfront, where in one of its restaurants you will enjoy a glass of Greek wine along with its “meze” plate.

Majestic Delos Island Ruins

Delos island is a small island just next to Mykonos and it’s one of the most important archeological sites of Greece. In fact it is a space beyond an archeological site – it’s an astounding open-air swimming museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This island is uninhabited and only the spirits of God Apollo and his sister Artemis seem to live there now. Afterall, it was their birthplace according to Greek mythology. Delos was a major political, religious and commercial centre more than 2,000 years before today and the ruins of this thriving ancient place can be visited today.

The marble Lions of Delos and other marble sculptures were once brought to the gods as gifts indicating that Delos was the epicenter of fancy religious celebrations practiced to honor the ancient Greeks goods of Light. Wonder with me through the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo, learn about the myths related to Delos, stroll on ancient streets and explore the Quarter of the Theatre, the best preserved part of the ancient city. Towards the end of its ancient life Delos was also a rich, tax-free port and the wealth once accumulated there is reflected in the remains of marvelous colonnaded mansions and colourful mosaic floors that once decorated the city’s houses. Learn about their every-day life and how ancient Greek houses looked like, how people lived and how they entertained themselves.

This visit is a trip back in time, it is a trip that will be indelibly etched in your memory. Delos is an unforgettable experience!

* Delos can be reached by ferry from Mykonos. There are morning and afternoon ferries. Usually in the afternoon it is less busy, especially when lots of cruiseships visit Mykonos in the morning. On these days it is highly recommended to visit Delos in the afternoon. The Delos ferries depart from Mykonos town, near the Town Hall. You can also reach Delos with your own private or chartered vessel and we can meet on Delos for the tour. The actual tour of the ruins is about 2 hours. It can be prolonged or condensed as per request.

Explore Mykonos Island Private Tour

The best way to discover Mykonos island is by being chauffeured around this whimsical place. Relax in the comfortable VIP van and let me show you the beauties of this island. We will keep you up from your hotel, yacht or cruiseship and will start our ride with some stunning views. From the Lighthouse “ Armenistis ” found on the North of the island. The neighboring islands – Tinos, Syros, Delos and Rheneia, Paros, Naxos – seem like glowing stars amidst the sparkling Aegean Sea from up there.

Leaving behind this villa-dotted area of the island, we will head to the south side of Mykonos which is protected from the winds, thus hosting the island’s most amazing beaches. We will take you to see some of the northern beaches and then we will continue driving through the very inland of Mykonos to get to the small village of Ano Mera . We will visit the 16th c. Greek Orthodox Monastery of “ Panagia Tourliani ” with its gilded, baroque-style Church. Ano Mera village is the only village of the island, thus making it great for taking in some laid-back island life. 

The tour finishes with a special route for amazing views of the entire island. If desired, we could also include a stop at the local cheese-producing unit for about one hour to sample 4 different Mykonian cheeses and the divine Mykonos Greek yoghurt.

* The island drive can be shortened to 2.5 hours in order to include also a walking tour of Mykonos town.

Visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site, the island of Delos. The huge extent of its ruined ancient city will leave you speechless! Ancient Greek gods, Apollo and Artemis, the gods of Light, was believed to have been born there…the island is virtually uninhabited and entirely declared a protected archeological area.

Ruins of marble temples, statues, offerings of people to the gods can be seen today on the site, but what is more impressive is the part of the city with its ancient houses and villas. Delos was a very rich and cosmopolitan city more than 2,000 years before today and it feautured sumptuously decorated residences once belonging to wealthy merchants, bankers and ship owners. Many of these were also decorated with mosaic floors. In this tour we will focus on the mosaics of Delos and explain the technique of this art. I will show you mosaics that are off-the-beaten track so that you can admire this classic and still so modern art.

Finishing our private tour on Delos, we will return to Mykonos in order to meet a mosaics’ artist who will show us how to cut stones and make our own mosaic creation . Hike to Fokos Beach & Swim

If vacation for you doesn’t mean that you have to stop being active, then let’s get together for this stimulating hiking tour . For those who love exploring with all their senses, this tour is going to be the most alternative way to explore the countryside of Mykonos. Our private vehicle will bring us to the village of Ano Mera , the only other settlement on Mykonos apart from Mykonos town, and we will head to Fokos beach walking through the Mykonian land.

Along the way you will see the endless dry-stone walls decorating the barren land, the old farmsteads, goats, horses, the red-domed Mykonian family chapels, the white cubic Cycladic houses and the Fokos Water Reservoir which often attracts migratory birds. The hike ends at one of the less touristic and unspoiled beaches of the northeast side of Mykonos, Fokos , where you will have about 1.5h to relax at the beach or swim in the azure blue waters .

At Fokos beach there is also a lovely tavern where you could have a bite or just refresh with a freddo cappuccino . Next to Fokos is the also secluded beach of Mersin i and, if you wish, you could explore that one, too. Our vehicle will come and pick us up from the beach for returning us back to the starting point.

Tinos is a surprisingly charming island found only 30 min. by ferry from Mykonos. The countryside of Tinos is dotted with about 60 tiny villages, terraced land, traditional dovecots, dry stone walls, marble quarries, green valleys, natural springs, Catholic monasteries and Orthodox churches. Its land grows mouth-watering tomatoes and artichokes that pair perfectly with a wide selection of locally made cheeses. Vineyards accent the rolling hills. Their wine is a bliss.

Pyrgos village is known as the marble village because of its marble quarries and the many famous Greek sculptors originating from that place. Today most of its areas, streets, benches, bus stops, balconies, door lintels are dressed with white marble. An amazing Museum dedicated to Marble Crafts is found in this location. The town of Tinos is mainly known for the Church of Panagia Megalochari , a pilgrimage place for the Greek Orthodox. It dates from 1823 and has a mind-blowing selection of “ tamata” , the silver offerings of people brought to the church in difficult moments of their lifes.

Does all this sound intriguing? Tinos is a great place for a day excursion from Mykonos. Especially at the beginning and the end of the season when the weather is not exactly ideal for the beach, Tinos is a great way to discover another Greek island, so close to Mykonos and so unexpectedly bewitching!

• On Delos island make sure you walk up to the Temple of Isis for astounding views of the entire ancient city. If you think you can make it, climb to the top of mount Kynthos .
• Mykonos is the island of the winds. Usually they blow from the north. In such case make sure you choose a beach at the south for your beach day. And don’t forget to bring something long-sleeved.
