Thirty-five years since the release of their debut single and with a legacy spanning decades, The Brand New Heavies are back on tour with their greatest hits, Never Stop… The Best Of .
Pioneers of London’s burgeoning Acid Jazz scene of the early ‘90s, The Brand New Heavies took their love of sophisticated ‘70’s funk grooves, giving it a modern twist and enjoying substantial global success and an ongoing influence to this day.
As superfan Mark Ronson explains in his liner notes for Never Stop : “The Brand New Heavies and their pitch perfect jazz-funk revival were my musical coming out party. They were my introduction to all the incredible music I would spend the next 30 years of my life DJ’ing in clubs as well as triggering my desire to think outside of the basic-ass chords I knew on the guitar and piano.”
With platinum sales in the UK for the Top Ten albums Brother Sister (1994) and Shelter (1997), along with 15 UK Top 40 singles including ‘You are The Universe,’ ‘Midnight at the Oasis’ and ‘Sometimes,’ The Brand New Heavies’ formidable live band will be joined onstage for a very special show featuring players from the London Concert Orchestra.

Excellent evening. Fabulous music the band were really engaging and surpassed my expectations. I loved the venue I will definitely look for more acts there. Enjoyed food & drink in the bar downstairs beforehand.

I have wanted to see the BNH for a while now since I'd seen them touring.
My mate introduced me to their music when we were at college together years ago.
Thoroughly enjoyed the gig, a mix of greatest hits and songs off the new album. They played to the crowd brilliantly and fed off the positive vibe.
I am so glad we went and hope to get the chance to see them again.
Absolutely one of best shows I ever seen in my 35 yrs of concert going. N'Dea Davenport's homecoming to ATL. She killed it! No gimmicks, costume changes or light show, just the band and a stage. Buckhead Theater perfect quaint venue. Must see.

The Brand New Heavies announce ‘Never Stop… The Best Of’, UK tour dates
- By Connor Gotto
- June 14, 2023
The Brand New Heavies are celebrating 35 years since the release of their debut single with a new career retrospective.
Bringing together 21 tracks spanning more than three decades, ‘Never Stop… The Best Of’ celebrates the pioneers of London’s burgeoning Acid Jazz scene.
Formed in 1985 by guitarist Simon Bartholomew, bassist /keyboardist Andrew Levy, and drummer/vocalist Jason Kincaid, the band powered through the nineties with extraordinary vocalists and collaborators such as N’Dea Davenport, Siedah Garrett and Carleen Anderson.
They landed Top 10 albums with ‘Brother Sister’ (1994) and ‘Shelter’ (1997), along with 15 UK Top 40 singles, including originals like You are The Universe , Dream On Dreamer , and Sometimes , to canny covers of seventies classics such as Don’t Let It Go to Your Head , Midnight at the Oasis , and You’ve Got a Friend .
‘Never Stop….The Best Of’ includes all their UK hit singles, plus their US tracks Brother Sister , Mind Trips , You Can Do It , and Bonafied Funk , taken from their groundbreaking 1992 album, ‘Heavy Rhyme Experience Vol 1’, which set a blueprint for fusing hip-hop to live RnB grooves introduced The Pharcyde and Gang Starr to the world.
The CD version also includes an additional bonus disc of remixes from such titans of dance music as Masters At Work, Dimitri From Paris and Roger Sanchez, as well as a percolating new remix of Stay This Way by Bob Sinclar, out now.
Liner notes come courtesy of Mark Ronson, who explains: “The Brand New Heavies and their pitch perfect jazz-funk revival were my musical coming out party. They were my introduction to all the incredible music I would spend the next 30 years of my life DJ’ing in clubs as well as triggering my desire to think outside of the basic-ass chords I knew on the guitar and piano.”
‘Never Stop… The Best Of’ is out September 29 via London Records and available to pre-order now .
In support of the album, The Brand New Heavies will embark on a tour of the UK with three special concerts featuring strings from London Concert Orchestra.
Tickets will go on sale in July with a special pre-sale for fans who pre-order the album via the group’s official store .

Blackpool Tower launches live music weekender events held in historic ballroom
B lackpool Tower has announced a new series of live music events taking place inside its iconic ballroom. The first Blackpool Tower Live Weekender will be held from May 24 -26 and promises the ‘ultimate night out’.
The line-up for the inaugural event includes BBC Radio 2 DJs Gary Davies and Jo Whiley and The Brand New Heavies. Party-goers will be able to dance the night away inside the historic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, which has featured in everything from films to Strictly Come Dancing .
On Friday May 24, Gary Davies will bring his BBC Radio 2 show Sounds of the 80s to life, transporting you back in time with your favourite 80s anthems from artists such as Wham!, Queen, Prince, Madonna, Whitney, and more.
