What does the police package do for the excursion? does it add any go fast?
Never heard of the Police package.Do you have a link?

Pretty sure the Police CV's had lower rear ends also to aid off the line.

I have an 05 EX cop truck.. rubber matting.. plug ins.. no over head trip computer. Front/ rear heated Lariat leather seats. No rear seat... back doors are.. well.. Windows dont roll down but they power lock with the fob or driver/passenger lock switch. Rear wind vent.. was removed and covered with some trupe of equipment they were using. V10 runs great.. I'm 6'1" and its still taller than me. Not sure they lowered the rear.

The 2018 Ford Expedition just became a cop car
Americans will have a new set of headlights to watch for in their rearview mirrors now that Ford has announced that its largest SUV offering, the 2018 Expedition, has been tapped for police duty. Officially titled the 2018 Expedition Special Service Vehicle, Ford thinks police forces will find much to love from the new aluminum-bodied SUV, which offers a generous amount of space for cargo and various patrolling tools.
The offering comes at a time when forces across the country are switching to crossovers and SUVs for the added utility provided compared to a traditional police cruiser. The Expedition Special Service Vehicle comes equipped to handle utility duties in spades. The regular 40/20/40 front seats are replaced with 40/blank/40 seats, allowing police departments to customize the added up-front space to their liking. The rear seats are also swapped out for a vinyl bench, and vinyl flooring replaces traditional carpeting for easy cleaning.

Putting a patrol shoe into the accelerator will reveal Ford's latest 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine paired with the automaker's new 10-speed automatic transmission. To the joy of officers, the gear selector is mounted on the steering column—again, to free up floor space. Start-stop technology is also present to aid in efficiency. Ford has added an electronic limited-slip differential as well, while a high-output 240-amp alternator replaces the stock unit to meet the demands faced with excessive idling.
But, wait, there's more.
2018 Ford F-150 Pursuit
A Ford F-150 Special Service Vehicle full-size pickup truck will join the Expedition as another potential addition to police fleets. Available with a 5.0-liter V-8 or the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 found in the Expedition SSV, the F-150 SSV may not offer the most practical solution for police, but it fills a niche where towing capability is necessary. Fleets may also order the F-150 SSV in SuperCrew and SuperCab configurations, with either 4x4 or 4x2 drivetrains.
The Expedition SSV challenges a longtime favorite in the police patrol vehicle space: the Chevrolet Tahoe PPV , which earned its lights in 2015. Unlike the Expedition, the Tahoe comes with a good 'ol fashioned 5.3-liter V-8 engine under the hood. Neither, of course, are as utterly outrageous as Nissan's GT-R Police Pursuit . Thankfully, the GT-R is just for show, or lawbreaking speed demons would have a real problem on their hands.

Ford’s Police Vehicle Tour Begins in August
Ford is hosting a nationwide ride-and-drive tour with the all-new 2021 F-150 Police Responder and the Police Interceptor Utility. The tour begins in August and stops in 17 major cities.
“Get a product deep-dive into the all-new 2021 F-150 Police Responder, the only pursuit-rated pickup on the market, now upgraded with an improved top speed of 120 mph, enhanced performance and capability, and additional officer-inspired content,” according to Greg Ebel, police brand marketing manager for Ford. “You will also receive a dynamic drive experience in the game-changing Police Interceptor Utility — the first-ever, pursuit-rated hybrid police SUV. It offers the potential for significant fuel cost savings without any performance tradeoffs and additional purpose-built police features and innovative technologies.”
Attendees will be able to drive three PIU powertrains — the standard hybrid as well as an available 3.3L V6 direct-injection FFV and an available 3L EcoBoost V6.

HD Truck-Based 2025 Ford Excursion SUV is Almost Here

The comeback of the largest SUV ever is always a hot topic. There are rumors ever since the Excursion was discontinued in 2006. Sometimes those speculations were louder, such as now. The 2025 Ford Excursion will be based on the refreshed Super Duty truck lineup. This is something unique since most other truck-based SUVs are taking platforms from half-ton models. This time, a heavy-duty vehicle underpins the SUV.
Ford updated the Super Duty lineup. You will find F-250, F-350 and F-450 models there. The 2025 Ford Excursion is going to be based on the Series 2 truck. It makes the SUV unique since it won’t have any competition. No other carmaker ever tried this combo. What’s more interesting, we get no signals from other companies about their plans to build an HD SUV. The Excursion will have a clear path to all the interested buyers.
Rumors about the big rig sparked again when Ford introduced a 7.3-liter V8 engine. So-called Godzilla can suit perfectly into the Excursion’s powertrain room.
2025 Ford Excursion Best Engine Options
As a heavy-duty SUV, the 2025 Ford Excursion is going to need a lot of power. That is why only V8 engines are eligible options. Ford is ready for this challenge. They have plenty of eight-cylinder mills so the Blue Oval doesn’t have to consider a 5.0-liter unit.
To find inspiration, all we need to do is to check the drivetrain lineup of the F-250 truck . The base solution is a big 6.8-liter mill with 405 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. Experts assume Ford won’t offer it. Instead, the Godzilla will lay under the hood. It is a 7.3-liter V8 mill recently launched, and it produces 435 horsepower. That would be more than enough, even for the heavy-duty SUV.
Nevertheless, the best power source would be a turbodiesel. A 6.7-liter Powerstroke unit can do up to 1,200 hp. However, the F-250 truck is not exploiting the maximum potential. The SUV will probably get significantly less, since it doesn’t require high-end towing capacity numbers. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission to handle 450 hp. The drivetrain can do 500 hp on the high-output version of the F-350 and F-450 trucks.
There were no similar vehicles in the past, besides the old Excursion. If Ford launches the new heavy-duty SUV, it can trigger other carmakers to do the same. For example, Ram Ramcharger is one of the options. General Motors is not introducing its model, but they have a suitable platform for Silverado 2500 and 3500 models. Even Toyota is considering a heavy-duty truck, which can be soon converted to an SUV if American models start rolling.
Tremor, King Ranch, Raptor
There will be plenty of options available for the new SUV. The company is going to start like for most of the big rigs – either with the XL or the XLT trim level. The mid-range offer includes Platinum and probably some light off-road package. Above that are premium options with the King Ranch, Limited, or even the Raptor model. The off-road package is possible for the SUV, but there are slim chances of this to happen. Of course, some unique grade is also a good way to draw more attention.
2025 Ford Excursion Release Date and Conclusion
Since the prototypes are not on the streets, the heavy-duty SUV is definitely not going to be the 2024 YM. Engineers and designers have extra time to create the perfect build for the following season. When the creation is close to the end, Ford will start advertising the SUV. Expect it in the second half of 2024.
