La tour Bidouane
La tour Bidouane se situe en face du Grand Bé, construite en avancée par rapport au mur. Vous pouvez retrouver une table d’orientation sur le toit de la terrasse. Haute de 22,70 mètre et large de 13 mètres, ses murs mesurent 3 mètres d’épaisseur. La tour Bidouane sera désaffectée et démilitarisée en 1889.
En 1464 lors d’importants travaux sur les remparts, une première tour est construite, légèrement en retrait de celle visible actuellement. C’était une tour d’artillerie baptisé successivement tour Bidouet, tour des Champs-Vauverts, puis tour de la Cloche une cloche sonnait l’alarme en cas d’attaque ennemie). C’est lors des travaux en 1692 que la tour prend le nom de Bidouane. A cette occasion, elle est renforcée et sa plate-forme est équipée de cinq canons en fer. Un magasin en poudre, voûté, est installé au rez-de-chaussée, à l’épreuve des bombes.

A tower visit.
Located in the northwest of the city of Saint Malo, the Bidouane tower is one of the main towers of the ramparts of Malo. It's 23 meters high, and almost 15 meters wide, which makes it really impressive. In addition, it offers visitors a beautiful view of the surroundings: one side has Bon Secours beach, the murals, the Gran Ser and the tomb of Chateaubriand, and Fort National on the other. It was built in the fifteenth century, reformed over time, and was completed in the seventeenth century.

This tower is an old building in Saint-Malo, housing "Noguette", a bell used to signal curfew.
Former powder magazine of the 15th century, the Bidouane Tower is one of the oldest buildings still standing on the ramparts of Saint-Malo. Formerly called the Bell Tower, it housed "Noguette", a bell that rang at 10pm to signal the curfew and the release of 24 danes on the shore (it still rings today from the cathedral of Saint-Vincent). 23 meters high, its horseshoe-shaped plan is typical of the artillery towers of the time. From its upper platform, you can see the Grand Bé, the Cap Fréhel and the cathedral and its spire.

A Saint Malo (35), la Tour Bidouane se trouve au niveau des remparts, en angle du passage de la poudrière, à proximité de la Porte des Champs Vauverts ainsi que de la place et de la Maison du Québec. Haute d'une vingtaine de mètres pour une dizaine de diamètre, cette Tour est l'une des principales fortifiées de la ville.
Ancienne poudrière du XV e siècle, la Tour Bidouane est l'une des plus anciennes constructions encore debout des remparts de Saint-Malo. Anciennement appelée la Tour de la cloche, elle abritait "Noguette", une cloche qui sonnait à 22h pour signaler le couvre-feu et le lâcher des 24 dogues sur la grève (elle sonne toujours aujourd'hui depuis la cathédrale Saint-Vincent).
