Everything you need to know about travel MLMs

  • September 6, 2023
  • Pickles Travel Network

In the ever-evolving landscape of the travel industry, opportunities abound, and choices demand careful consideration. Among these choices, the concept of Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) emerges as a contender, promising avenues for income and growth.

In this comprehensive blog post, we will dissect the intricate workings of travel MLMs, shed light on their mechanisms within the travel sector, and ultimately, explore why steering clear of them in favor of a traditional host agency is a prudent choice.

Understanding Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)

Multi-Level Marketing , often referred to as network marketing, employs a unique business model where participants not only earn from their direct sales but also from the sales of the individuals they recruit into the network. The structure resembles a pyramid, with multiple tiers that cascade down, theoretically generating income for those at each level.

Here are 30 essential questions to consider to determine if you are working with a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) entity:

  • Is There an emphasis on recruitment?
  • Does the company place significant focus on recruiting new members rather than selling the actual product or service?
  • Are you encouraged to recruit others into the program as a core part of your role?
  • Are there membership fees?
  • Are you required to pay other upfront fees or purchase a starter kit to join the program?
  • Are there ongoing fees or minimum purchase requirements?
  • Is earning dependent on recruiting others?
  • Do you earn a significant portion of your income from the sales of those you recruit?
  • Are there different earning levels based on your recruitment success?
  • Is there a complex commission structure?
  • Does the compensation plan involve multi-tiered structures where you earn not just from your sales but also from the sales of your recruits — and then their recruits?
  • Are there complicated calculations or requirements to understand how you earn income?
  • Are earnings promised to be enormous quickly?
  • Are you presented with stories of individuals who have achieved substantial earnings within a short time frame?
  • Is there a strong emphasis on the potential for quick financial success?
  • Is the product or service secondary to recruitment?
  • Is the primary focus of discussions and training on recruiting new members, rather than on the features and benefits of the product or service being offered?
  • Is the product or service overshadowed by the earning potential from recruitment?
  • Is there a tiered ranking system?
  • Are there different ranks or levels within the organization, and is advancing in these ranks tied to recruitment and sales targets?
  • Are you encouraged to aim for higher ranks to unlock additional bonuses or benefits?
  • Are there limited products or services offered?
  • Does the company seem offended if you focus on the products or services that you are required to promote instead of focusing on recruiting?
  • Are these products or services often connected to the recruitment process?
  • Is there a high turnover rate among members?
  • Do you notice a pattern of members joining and leaving the program relatively quickly?
  • Is there a lack of long-term commitment among participants?
  • Is the company operating legally and ethically?
  • Have there been legal controversies or investigations involving the company’s business practices?
  • Are there concerns about the company’s reputation or ethical standing within the industry?

Remember, these questions are intended to help you critically evaluate a business opportunity and make an informed decision, even if the questions may seem repetitive. If you suspect you are dealing with an MLM, it is crucial to conduct thorough research, seek advice from trusted sources, and consider alternative options that align with your professional goals and values.

Travel MLMs in the Travel Industry

Within the travel sector, travel MLMs have gained attention as a potential avenue to monetize one’s passion for globetrotting. These entities promise agents the allure of flexibility, independence, and significant earnings. Agents often purchase travel packages, memberships, or exclusive deals to resell to their network. The agents earn a portion of the sales, and when they recruit others, they earn a slice from their recruits’ sales as well.

Why Caution is Essential

1. Risk of Pyramid Schemes:  Travel MLMs often resemble pyramid schemes in disguise. The emphasis on recruitment and building a network can sometimes overshadow the actual travel product being sold. Pyramid schemes, which are illegal in many countries, operate by recruiting members who invest money with the promise of future rewards primarily based on the recruitment of new members, rather than actual product sales.

2. Limited Focus on Genuine Travel Expertise:   In the world of travel MLMs, the priority may shift from becoming a knowledgeable travel professional to being a skilled recruiter. Authentic travel expertise often takes a back seat, which can be detrimental to your long-term career growth.

3. Hidden Costs and Earnings Hurdles:   Engaging with travel MLMs may entail upfront investments, including membership fees and purchase obligations. Additionally, the promised earnings may come with demanding sales quotas and stipulations that are hard to meet, often leading to unfulfilled financial expectations.

4. Sustainability and Ethics:    MLM structures can sometimes lead to an environment where aggressive recruitment takes precedence over delivering value to clients. The emphasis on recruitment can strain relationships and tarnish the genuine spirit of travel advisory.

Why Choose a Traditional Host Agency

Opting for a traditional host agency offers a robust alternative that ensures your success is anchored in genuine travel expertise and sustainable practices.  Here’s a quick comparison of the points made above between a host agency and a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) entity, highlighting their key differences:

Focus and Purpose

  • Host Agency:  Focuses primarily on providing support, resources, and tools to independent travel agents.  Aims to enhance agents’ travel expertise, client relationships, and business operations.  Success is measured by the quality of service, customer satisfaction, and agents’ ability to curate exceptional travel experiences.
  • MLM:  Emphasizes recruitment and building a network of members.  Often centers on selling products or services within the context of recruitment.  Success is often measured by the number of recruits and sales generated within the network.

Income Generation

  • Host Agency:  Agents earn commissions by booking travel arrangements for their clients.  Income is directly tied to the value of sales made and services rendered.  Agents focus on delivering excellent travel experiences to clients to build a loyal customer base.
  • MLM:   Members earn income from sales of products or services as well as from recruiting new members.  Earnings can be dependent on the success of recruits within their network.  Recruitment and building a large network become integral to maximizing income.

Training and Expertise

  • Host Agency:   Offers training programs, resources, and mentorship to enhance agents’ travel expertise.  Focuses on building agents’ knowledge about destinations, travel trends, and customer service.  Encourages agents to continuously educate themselves to provide exceptional service.
  • MLM:  Training often revolves around recruitment techniques and building a network.  May lack a comprehensive focus on developing deep travel expertise.  Training may prioritize recruitment skills over the actual products or services being offered.

Reputation and Ethics

  • Host Agency:   Established host agencies often have a reputable track record in the travel industry.  Emphasizes ethical practices, professional growth, and maintaining client trust.  Focuses on providing valuable travel advice and experiences to clients.
  • MLM:   MLMs can have varying reputations, with some facing criticism for resembling pyramid schemes.  Ethics can sometimes be compromised due to the heavy focus on recruitment.  The focus may shift from delivering genuine value to aggressive recruitment tactics.

Sustainable Growth

  • Host Agency:  Offers a stable platform for long-term growth in the travel industry.  Agents can build a loyal client base and develop lasting relationships.  Success is built on a foundation of expertise, quality service, and continuous improvement.
  • MLM:  MLM success may rely on continuously recruiting new members to maintain income.  High turnover rates among members can hinder sustainable growth.  Income can be inconsistent if recruitment efforts wane.

As you can conclude, a host agency provides a supportive environment for independent travel agents to grow their expertise and businesses while focusing on delivering valuable travel experiences to clients. On the other hand, MLMs often emphasize recruitment and building networks as primary income sources, which can sometimes overshadow the actual products or services being offered. Careful consideration and research are essential when deciding between these two models to ensure your chosen path aligns with your professional goals and values.

Traditional host agencies prioritize training, continuous learning, and providing the necessary tools to navigate the travel industry effectively.

In the labyrinth of choices that shape your travel career, the allure of travel MLMs might seem captivating, but a discerning eye reveals the complexities beneath the surface.

Choosing the path of a traditional host agency not only guarantees a solid foundation of knowledge but also promises ethical practices, professional growth, and the potential to build a rewarding and sustainable career. The world of travel is your oyster – make a choice that ensures your journey is marked by authenticity, expertise, and long-term success.

Eligible travel purchases do NOT include non-prepaid hotel bookings, scheduled flights and prepaid flight+hotel packages over the phone, vacation packages, car rentals, cruise, hotel group reservations or events, ticketing service, cancellation or other fees, interest charges, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents. To be eligible for the 5x Membership Rewards® points, you must both reserve and charge the travel purchase with the same eligible Business Platinum Card®. To modify a reservation you must cancel and rebook your reservation. You can cancel and rebook your reservation on AmexTravel.com or by calling a representative of AmexTravel.com at 1-800-297-2977. Cancellations are subject to hotel cancellation penalty policies. If hotel reservations are made or modified directly with the hotel provider, the reservation will not be eligible for this 5X Membership Rewards® point benefit. To be eligible to receive extra points, Card account(s) must not be cancelled or past due at the time of extra points fulfillment. If booking is cancelled, the extra points will be deducted from the Membership Rewards account. Extra points will be credited to the Membership Rewards account approximately 6-10 weeks after eligible purchases appear on the billing statement. Bonuses you may receive with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express may not be combined with this benefit. The benefits associated with the Additional Card(s) you choose may be different than the benefits associated with your basic Card.

To learn about the benefits associated with Additional Card(s) you choose, please call the number on the back of your Card. Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for additional points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn additional points if the merchant’s code is not included in an additional points category. You may not receive additional points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an additional points category. For example, you may not receive additional points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.

$189 CLEAR Plus Credit Basic Card Members can earn up to $189 in statement credits per calendar year when the Platinum Card® or Additional Cards on the Account are used to pay for an annual CLEAR Plus Membership. Enrollment in CLEAR Plus is required and is subject to CLEAR's terms and conditions. CLEAR Plus Memberships automatically renew each year unless canceled and CLEAR will charge the applicable Membership fee to the Card CLEAR has on file. American Express has no control over the application and/or approval process for CLEAR, and does not have access to any information provided to CLEAR by the Card Member or by CLEAR to the Card Member. American Express has no liability regarding the CLEAR program. If a Card Member's application is not approved by CLEAR, CLEAR will refund the charges. If the statement credit benefit has been applied before CLEAR refunds the charges, that statement credit will be reversed. Purchases by both the Basic Card Member and any Additional Card Members on the Card Account are eligible for statement credits. However, the total amount of statement credits for eligible purchases will not exceed $189 across all Cards on the Account per calendar year. For additional information on the CLEAR program, including information regarding Membership, eligibility, and for a list of participating locations, as well as the full terms and conditions of the program, please go to  www.clearme.com . The CLEAR program is subject to change, and American Express has no control over those changes. Please allow up to 6-8 weeks after a qualifying CLEAR transaction is charged to the Card Account for the statement credit to be posted to the Account. American Express relies on accurate transaction data to identify eligible CLEAR Plus purchases. If you do not see a credit for a qualifying purchase on your eligible Card after 8 weeks, please call the number on the back of your Card. Card Members remain responsible for timely payment of all CLEAR charges. If you are assigned a new Card number or have a Card number on file with CLEAR that is outdated (for example, if you replace your Card or if your Card has expired), you must update your Card information on file with CLEAR to help ensure that statement credits are received for eligible CLEAR Plus Membership fees. To be eligible for this benefit, the Card Account must not be cancelled or past due at the time of statement credit fulfillment. If a charge for an eligible purchase is included in a Pay Over Time feature balance on your Card Account, the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time feature balance. To receive the Global Entry statement credit of $100 or the TSA PreCheck statement credit of up to $85, Basic or Additional Card Members on the eligible Card Account must pay for the respective application fee through a TSA PreCheck official enrollment provider with their eligible Card. Basic Card Members are eligible to receive a statement credit every 4.5 years for the TSA PreCheck® application fee (when applying through a TSA official enrollment provider) and every 4 years for the Global Entry application fee, in each case when charged to the Basic Card or any eligible Additional Cards on the eligible Card Account. Basic Card Members will receive a statement credit for the first program (either Global Entry or TSA PreCheck) to which they or their eligible Additional Cards apply and pay for with their eligible Card regardless of whether they are approved for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. However, eligible Card Members can earn no more than one credit for up to $85 for TSA PreCheck or $100 credit for Global Entry (but not both programs), depending upon the program the Card Member first applies for, for an application fee charged to an eligible Card. American Express has no control over the application and/or approval process for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck, and does not have access to any information provided to the government by the Card Member or by the government to the Card Member. American Express has no liability regarding the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Programs. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) (for Global Entry) and U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) (for TSA PreCheck) charge an application fee to process each respective application regardless of whether the Card Member’s application is approved. The Department of Homeland Security may suspend acceptance of applications on any basis at its discretion. American Express will provide a statement credit for the application fee regardless of the decision made by CBP (for Global Entry) or TSA (for TSA PreCheck) but will not provide a statement credit for subsequent application fees charged to the same eligible Card within 4 years (for Global Entry) or 4.5 years (for TSA PreCheck), even if the original application is rejected.

Membership for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck is per person, and a separate application must be completed for each individual. TSA PreCheck application must be processed through a TSA official enrollment provider. Global Entry membership also includes access to the TSA PreCheck program with no additional application or fee required. The statement credit benefit applies to the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck programs only. Other program applications including, but not limited to, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST, and Privium are not eligible for the statement credit benefit.

Please allow up to 8 weeks after the qualifying Global Entry or TSA PreCheck transaction is charged to the eligible Card account for the statement credit to be posted to the Card account. American Express relies on accurate transaction data to identify eligible Global Entry and TSA PreCheck purchases. If you do not see a credit for a qualifying purchase on your eligible Card after 8 weeks, simply call the number on the back of your Card. Card Members are responsible for payment of all application charges until the statement credit posts to the Card Account. Statement credits may be reversed if an eligible purchase is returned/cancelled.

To be eligible for this benefit, the Card Account must not be cancelled and not past due at the time of statement credits fulfillment. If American Express, in it’s sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit, American Express will not have an obligation to provide statement credits and may reverse any statement credits provided to you. If a charge for an eligible purchase is included in a Pay Over Time feature balance on your Card Account, the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time feature balance. Instead, the statement credit may be applied to your Pay In Full balance. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card.

As the Solar Eclipse, also known as Surya Grahan, is set to take place on April 8, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a warning for flying ahead of this celestial event. In a press note, the US government civil aviation agency advised that aircraft should be prepared for possible delays, reroutes, and changes in departure schedules for all the domestic (Instrument Flight Rules) IFR flights. The FAA's website also listed the airports in the path of the upcoming Solar Eclipse that will be affected.

"The purpose of this notice is to inform airmen of the possible impacts to air traffic and airports along the eclipse path during the period April 7, 2024, 1000 UTC through April 10, 2024, 0400 UTC," the press note read.

"Aircraft should be prepared for potential airborne holding, reroutes, and/or Expect Departure Clearance Times (EDCTs) that may be issued for all domestic IFR arrivals and departures. Traffic Management Initiatives (TMIs) are possible," it added.

According to NASA , the April 8 Solar Eclipse, also known as the "Great North American Eclipse", will be visible in several countries, including the United States, Mexico and Canada. The eclipse will cross North America, creating a spectacle for observers. As a result, air traffic is expected to intensify, particularly between Texas and New England, as skygazers prepare to witness the rare event, the FAA said.

"There may be a higher traffic volume than normal anticipated at airports along the path of the eclipse. Traffic should anticipate delays during peak traffic periods. Parking may be limited - particularly at the smaller, uncontrolled airports," the aviation agency added.

Further, the agency recommended early planning and vigilance for both pilots and airports to mitigate potential challenges during this period. "Special security provisions may be in effect for this event, including, but not limited to, Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs), two-way radio communications, and discrete transponder requirements," it said.

Notably, the Solar Eclipse will not be visible in India. It will be visible in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Small parts of Tennessee and Michigan will also experience the eclipse. The eclipse will then move to Canada before exiting North America on the Atlantic coast. Hundreds of schools across the United States are set to close on April 8th due to a total solar eclipse.

Newfoundland’s Auditor-General probing province’s expensive travel nursing contracts

mpl travel agency

Emergency Department at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, in Moncton, N.B. in February, 2023. Daniel St Louis/Handout

Newfoundland and Labrador Auditor-General Denise Hanrahan said Friday that she will investigate contracts between private vendors and the province’s health sector, citing The Globe and Mail’s reporting on expensive travel nursing deals .

In an e-mail, Ms. Hanrahan’s office said she would conduct a performance audit of “health sector contracts.” The scope of the review was intentionally defined broadly to give auditors wide latitude, Ms. Hanrahan said in an interview.

Performance audits, also known as value-for-money audits, assess how programs are managed and focus on their costs, efficiency and effectiveness.

In explaining her decision to launch the audit, Ms. Hanrahan said she is aware of The Globe’s reporting, and of concerns raised by Newfoundland politicians and interest groups about these contracts. “It certainly seemed like a topic that would be a complement to us, going forward,” she said.

The announcement arrives in the midst of an uproar in Newfoundland about the cost of travel nurses, who are hired from out of province by private, for-profit agencies. Those agencies then provide the nurses to the public health system at marked-up prices. The travel nursing industry has thrived across the country since the start of the pandemic, as health officials have relied on private providers to supplement short-staffed hospitals and nursing homes.

The Globe reported last month that one private agency, Toronto-based Canadian Health Labs, had inked contracts with health authorities in Newfoundland and New Brunswick, and charged rates that in many cases worked out to more than $300 an hour per nurse. That is roughly six times as much as nurses earn in the public health care system.

Newfoundland, eager to shed dependency on expensive travel nurses, launches program for rural communities

CHL also charged health authorities for meals for its nurses, but The Globe’s investigation found no evidence that the money had been distributed to the company’s workers. The Globe obtained copies of CHL’s employment contracts, which specified that the nurses were responsible for paying for their own food. More than two dozen nurses said they had never received meal allowances from the company.

Based on invoices obtained through freedom of information requests, The Globe initially calculated that CHL had billed Newfoundland for $1.6-million in meal allowances. Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, the province’s health authority, confirmed to The Globe earlier this week that it had paid $2.12-million in these allowances as of December.

Ms. Hanrahan said it could be 12 to 18 months before a report on the audit is released. CHL’s current contract in the province, worth a maximum of $44.25-million, ends on April 30.

These nursing deals are already under scrutiny in Atlantic Canada. Late last month, Newfoundland Health Minister Tom Osborne asked the province’s Comptroller-General, who has oversight of the province’s finances, to review CHL’s contracts. The province’s Official Opposition has sent a letter to the RCMP, asking them to look into the contracts.

Earlier this month, New Brunswick Auditor-General Paul Martin announced a separate audit of travel-nursing arrangements in his province, where CHL has a contract worth as much as $93-million to supply nurses until 2026. It also has a $45-million deal to provide personal support workers there until May 31.

Yvette Coffey, president of the Registered Nurses’ Union of Newfoundland and Labrador, said her group had written several times to urge the Auditor-General to examine travel nursing. “There must be a full, open and transparent accounting for the money that the taxpayers of Newfoundland and Labrador spent on these private agencies,” Ms. Coffey said.

Newfoundland seeks answers after ‘shocking’ spending on temporary nurses

In a statement, Mr. Osborne, the Health Minister, said he is pleased that there will be an audit. He added that he had been in contact with Ms. Hanrahan about health care contracts.

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services said in a statement that it “values the work of the Auditor-General and will work collaboratively with the Office as the review is conducted.”

CHL has not responded to past requests from The Globe for it to explain why its nurses claim they didn’t receive money for meals, despite the payments from health authorities. In response to past questions about that and other aspects of its business, the company issued a four-paragraph statement stating that its rates are “fair and transparent” and that its prices “reflect the extraordinary logistical challenges of getting and keeping health care professionals in rural, remote and underserved communities.”

The Globe contacted CHL’s lawyer, William McDowell, for comment about Ms. Hanrahan’s decision. The company offered no response.

MLM Travel Companies: Unveiling Top Picks and Their Operations

Multi-level marketing (MLM) travel companies are businesses that operate within the travel industry using a specific marketing and distribution model.

These companies rely on individual representatives, or travel agents, to sell travel packages, accommodations, and other related services directly to consumers.

MLM travel companies offer their agents the opportunity to earn commissions not only on their own sales, but also on the sales made by the representatives they recruit into the organization, creating a multi-tiered structure of income potential.

In this article, we will look at every aspect of the world of MLM travel companies. Let’s get started!

Table of Contents

Key takeaways.

  • MLM travel companies rely on individual representatives to sell travel packages and services directly to consumers
  • These companies offer training, exclusive travel discounts, and incentives for reaching sales milestones.
  • Success in MLM travel companies requires dedication, network-building, and a passion for travel

What Are MLM Travel Companies?

Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) is a business model where companies sell their products or services through person-to-person sales.

As an independent distributor, you are selling directly to other people, which may be done through various channels, such as from your home, a customer’s home, or online.

The structure of the compensation plan in MLMs allows you to earn income not only from your own sales but also from the sales of those you recruit into the business, creating a network or downline of distributors.

Travel Industry and MLM

In the context of the travel industry, MLM companies operate by offering travel-related products and services, such as booking accommodations, flights, cruises, or vacation packages.

As a distributor for an MLM travel company, your primary responsibility is to promote and sell these travel services to your network and recruit new members to join the business.

By building a downline of other distributors and customers, you can earn commissions on their sales and bookings, in addition to your own.

As you explore opportunities in the MLM travel industry, it’s important to carefully evaluate each company and choose one with a solid reputation, competitive pricing, and sufficient support for their distributors.

Some of the best MLM travel companies have a track record of success, offer extensive training resources, and provide access to exclusive travel discounts and benefits for their members.

How do the MLM travel companies work?

How MLM Travel Companies Work

Let’s take a closer look at the recruitment process, commission structure, and travel rewards system.

Recruitment Process

In MLM travel companies, you join as an independent distributor, participant, or contractor. Your primary task is to recruit new members into the network. The more people you recruit, the more your network, or “downline,” grows.

It’s essential to understand that your success in an MLM travel company depends on your ability to build and manage your downline effectively.

Commission Structure

The commission structure in MLM travel companies is typically based on two ways of earning money:

  • Direct sales : You can earn commissions by selling travel products or services directly to retail customers who are not involved in the MLM. This can include selling travel packages, memberships, or discounts.
  • Recruitment commissions : You can also earn money by recruiting new distributors and receiving commissions based on their purchases and sales to retail customers. This means that as your downline grows, your potential for earning commissions increases, based on your recruits’ performance.

Remember that the actual commission rates and payment structure may vary from one MLM travel company to another.

Travel Discounts and Rewards

As a participant in an MLM travel company, you may have access to special discounts and rewards on travel service s like flights, hotels, and vacations. These discounts can be used for personal travel or can be offered to customers through your booking portal.

Additionally, some MLM travel companies offer incentives for reaching specific recruitment or sales milestones , such as free trips, upgraded memberships, or bonuses. These benefits and rewards are designed to motivate and reward distributors for their hard work and dedication to the MLM travel company.

Remember to thoroughly research prospective MLM travel companies to ensure they are reputable and well-established before joining. It’s essential to understand the ins and outs of the business model and weigh any potential benefits against the potential risks and downsides.

This will help you make an informed decision and set yourself up for the best possible experience in the MLM travel industry.

Pros and Cons of Joining MLM Travel Companies

Let’s now delve into the advantages and disadvantages of these companies with reference to earnings, work flexibility, and challenges to overcome in the MLM world.

Potential Earnings

Joining an MLM travel company can offer you an opportunity to earn potential income by selling travel-related products and services.

Your earnings directly depend on your performance in selling, as well as your ability to recruit and manage a team of other sellers. However, this potential income may not be substantial, as most MLM participants struggle to make a significant profit.

Flexibility and Entrepreneurship

One of the advantages of joining an MLM travel company is the flexibility it offers. You can work when you want, where you want.

This allows you to maintain a work-life balance and take charge of your schedule. Moreover, you have the chance to explore your entrepreneurial spirit by building your own network of travel sellers and guiding them toward success.

Challenges and Controversies

There are numerous challenges and controversies associated with MLM travel companies. Joining an MLM may seem like an attractive way to make money while traveling, but it’s essential to be aware of the potential downsides:

  • Lack of Support and Resources : Unlike traditional travel agencies, MLMs often focus on gaining members rather than providing you with the necessary support and resources to sell travel effectively.
  • Reputation in the Travel Industry : Many travel professionals do not view MLMs positively, which may hinder your success in establishing credibility and building a strong network.
  • Expenses : To succeed in an MLM, you may need to spend money on various costs such as meals, fuel, hotel accommodations, and more. These costs can add up and negatively impact your earnings.
  • Difficulty in Sales : Achieving consistent sales success in an MLM can be challenging, especially with travel products, as the emphasis is often on recruitment rather than product quality or value.

Keep these pros and cons in mind when considering joining an MLM travel company, and always conduct thorough research before making a decision.

Alternatives to MLM Travel Companies

So? What are the alternatives for earning in the travel industry for those who do not trust network marketing?

1. Traditional Travel Agencies

Traditional travel agencies still play an important role in the travel industry. Unlike MLM travel companies, they don’t require you to recruit others or sell products to friends and family.

As a travel agent in a traditional agency, you can use your knowledge and skills to help clients plan their perfect trips, providing personalized recommendations and handling all the travel arrangements.

You’ll earn a commission from travel suppliers based on the bookings you make, and your success will depend on your customer service skills and ability to build a loyal client base.

2. Online Travel Platforms

Online travel platforms can be a convenient option for those who prefer to manage their own travel bookings, while still offering a commission-based opportunity for those looking to work in the travel industry.

Websites like Expedia, Booking.com, and Airbnb provide complete control over searching, comparing, and booking flights, accommodations, car rentals, and experiences.

As an affiliate partner of online travel platforms, you can earn commissions for driving traffic and sales to their website. This can be done through blogging, social media, or creating your own travel booking site that leverages their technology.

Becoming an affiliate partner of online travel platforms typically doesn’t require any upfront investment or the need to join a complex network of recruiters and downlines.

You can focus on promoting travel bookings and engaging with your audience, without the pitfalls of MLM business models.

In understanding MLM travel companies, it’s crucial to know what they are and how they function. These companies use a multi-level marketing model to offer you travel-related products and services while providing an opportunity to earn income.

By becoming a part of their network, you can generate revenue through commissions, bonuses, and incentives based on your sales and the sales of those you recruit underneath you.

When choosing the best MLM travel company for you, it’s essential to research their credibility and track record.

Companies like iBuumerang and XStream Travel are other examples of reputable businesses that have generated interest in the MLM travel industry. However, keep in mind that not all MLM travel companies are equal, and there may be mixed success stories across the board.

As you consider joining an MLM travel company, be aware of the potential risks and challenges you might face, such as unrealistic income expectations or the possibility of joining an illegal pyramid scheme .

What are the top MLM travel companies?

There are several MLM travel companies out there, and it’s essential to choose the right one for you. Some of the top MLM travel companies include Evolution Travel, InteleTravel, and PlanNet Marketing. Research their history, success rate, and the income potential they offer before deciding which one suits your needs best.

How do MLM travel companies operate?

MLM travel companies work by recruiting independent distributors or agents who earn commissions on travel bookings and product sales. In addition to earning from their sales, agents can also receive compensation from the sales and recruitment of their downline. This multi-level structure is what allows for potential income growth as your network expands. Remember to evaluate the company’s business model and compensation plan thoroughly.

Can you do business with non-MLM travel agencies?

Yes, you can do business with many non-MLM travel agencies in the industry. These agencies typically focus on providing curated travel experiences and personalized services to clients, without the need for a network of independent distributors. If you prefer dealing with customers directly and have a passion for travel planning, working for a traditional travel agency might be a better fit for you.

What is the income potential for MLM travel agents?

The income potential for MLM travel agents varies greatly depending on the company, compensation plan, and the individual’s efforts in both sales and recruitment. It is essential to manage your expectations when joining an MLM travel company and remember that success often requires hard work and dedication. While some agents might earn a substantial income, others may find it challenging to make a profit.

Are MLM travel companies successful?

Success rates among MLM travel companies can vary, with some seeing significant growth and others struggling to maintain momentum. As an individual looking to join an MLM travel company, it’s crucial to research each company’s history and reputation thoroughly.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

By Claudia Looi 2 Comments

Komsomolskaya metro station

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.
