Safari Download Manager on iOS, iPadOS

Let's continue the article by showing you how to set up Safari on iOS and iPadOS so you can make the most of the native Download Manager, which is another great video downloader iPhone app.

It's best to go through some basic setup steps with Safari's Download Manager to be able to get the most out of it.

Within Safari, the Downloads symbol appears next to the address bar in the top-right corner. However, unless a file is uploaded to the download queue, this icon is hidden by default.

Even if you've previously downloaded files, you may have noticed that the symbol disappears after some time.

There is a setting you must change if you need constant access to your download list items (Download History). The methods below will show you how to make the Downloads symbol always appear in Safari.

  • On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
  • Scroll down and select Safari from the drop-down menu.
  • Select Downloads from the "General" menu.
  • Select Manually from the Remove Download List Items menu.

You may also wish to modify the location of your downloads while you're here. Safari saves your downloads to the Downloads folder in iCloud Drive by default.

If you use Safari to download files regularly, you may be wasting space on iCloud, especially if you forget to clear temporary downloads. It is recommended that you modify your Downloads location outside of iCloud Drive to avoid this.

Set up Safaris Download Manager iPhone and iPad

To do so, (under the "General" section) open the Settings app and go to Safari > Downloads, then under the "Store Downloaded Files On" select the On My iPhone/iPad option section to save your downloads to your local Downloads folder.

You may also choose a custom place for your Downloads by going to "Other..." and selecting a relevant folder.

When you download a file in Safari after that, it will be saved to your device at the place you specify, and it will appear in Safari's Download List. The Downloads icon should remain visible next to the URL bar as long as you don't "Clear" the entire list.

To delete particular files from the Downloads list, open Safari, tap the Downloads icon, and instead of tapping "Clear," slide a specific item in the list from the right to show the Delete option, and then tap Delete.

The best streaming shows receive a lot of internet traffic but while some people watch videos online live, some prefer to download them to watch later. There are  repositories of free music out there but most people don’t know where to get them. As a result of the needs of these different kinds of people, we’ve listed below some of the best free video downloader apps for iPhone and iPad.

When you open a download link in Safari, you have two options.

  • A pop-up appears, giving you the option to "View" or "Download" the file, or both.
  • The link opens the material or media behind it in Safari.

In the first scenario, you can tap the Download button in the pop-up to begin the download.

In the second case, the sections following will show you how to obtain such files.

When you click on a download link, some files, including as PDFs and MP4s, may open straight in Safari instead of displaying the Download dialog. Follow these steps to download these files in Safari:

  • On the iPhone or iPad, open Safari and navigate to the web page with the download link.
  • The download link will open out and display more possibilities if you tap and hold it.
  • Scroll down the list of options until you find Download Linked File .

The file will be added to Safari's Downloads List (queue) and will begin to download.

If the "Download" pop-up doesn't appear when you tap and hold an embedded link in Safari, or if the "Download Linked File" option doesn't appear when you hit and hold a direct download link, here's what you can do.

  • For iPhone or iPad, open the link in Safari.
  • From the bottom of the screen, tap the Share icon.
  • Select Save to Files from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose a location for the file to be saved, then touch Save in the top right corner.
  • The file will be saved at the location you specify.

Safari will open the audio or video file in its built-in media player if the link is for an audio or video file. Tap the screen to show the player controls, then tap the 'X' to close the player. You should now be in the Safari window, with the media's URL displayed in the address bar. To get the file, go to Step #2 above.

You can use any suitable web media grabber, such as 9xBuddy, to parse the streaming URL and get the direct download link to the source video or audio file if you wish to download embedded films or audio via Safari.

As discussed in the previous sections, once you get the direct download link, you may download it in Safari just like any other file.

Resume Support: Other Features of Safari's Download Manager on iPhone and iPad: You can temporarily halt a download in Safari by tapping on the "X" next to the file, which switches to the "Resume" icon, if you browse the Downloads list (by clicking on the Download icon next to the URL bar) while downloading a file. By tapping on the "Resume" symbol, you can come back later and resume the download (if the server allows it). You may also check the status of current downloads in the Downloads list.

Background Downloads: You can switch to other apps and continue working while a download is in progress. The download should continue uninterrupted in the background. Background downloads in Safari on the iPhone and iPad, in comparison to third-party download managers, perform far more dependably in our experience.

As a result, Safari's built-in download manager for iOS and iPadOS can now handle and manage a variety of file downloads. However, if you want to look at additional third-party online downloader apps, the section below covers a number of them.

Best 3 iPad / iPhone Downloader Apps

Documents is one of the most popular file management apps for iOS, but it also works well as a file downloader, thanks to its native support for a wide range of file types for both viewing and downloading. You can organize, save, and browse your files without needing to export them to another program because it's a full-featured file management app.

Documents File Manager with Downloader

Additional capabilities of the Documents app include the ability to add different connections (WebDAV, SFTP, SMB, Dropbox, Google Drive, and so on), rename files, and set the download destination at the time of file download, among other things.

Documents is a 100% free app with no restrictions or advertisements. In our dedicated article, we go through the features of the multifunctional iOS file manager software.

Total Downloader is an iOS file and download manager that meets nearly all of the criteria for being a good download manager. It comes with a built-in browser that supports universal search and can download files in any format.

You can tap on a download link on a web page and pick whether to Download or Open (Navigate) it. Unlike many other downloader apps, which open the file immediately after hitting the download button, Total takes the logical approach of letting you pick what to do next.

The Downloads tab in the Transfers screen provides all active and inactive download tasks, along with the current download speed, size, and other information. You can Pause, Resume, or Cancel a particular download by tapping on it. Completed downloads display in the files tab, where you can play or view the file, or use the Open In option to export it to Photographs (for photos and videos only) or other apps.

Total's ability to gather embedded media URLs from specific streaming sites like Facebook, Vimeo, Instagram, and others is one of its most distinctive capabilities. However, it explicitly prohibits the grabbing feature from certain sites that primarily host original copyrighted content from artists/creators to avoid legal difficulties.

Total also offers some file management capabilities. It can open a variety of text, photo, music, video, document, and archive types, and it also integrates a number of cloud services, including Dropbox, OneDrive, and WebDAV. As a result, you may sync downloaded files directly with your choice cloud provider and even stream media files from the cloud.

Private browsing mode, bookmarks, and history management, user agent spoofing, PIN-protected files, and much more are some of the other significant features of Total.

Total's free version is ad-supported. With a $4.99 in-app purchase, you may remove advertisements and upgrade to the pro edition of the app.

The Files app (which is not to be confused with Apple's app of the same name) has a simple interface but is capable of handling any form of download link we throw at it. A web browser, a download manager, a section for downloaded files, and Settings are the four sections of the software.

The built-in web browser allows you to customize the default search engine, user agent (Mobile Safari or Firefox), and custom MIME types, which determine how the app handles various download links. You can use the browser's unified search bar to type a complete URL or a search query.

A Safari Bookmarklet is also accessible in Files, which allows you to move download links from the iOS Safari browser to the built-in Files browser, where you can download from the available links.

Even if a file type isn't supported for download, you can override the app's default behavior by adding it as a new MIME type. Alternatively, you can select Download Linked File As by tapping and holding the download link.

Note that if the download URL string is large, the tap & hold action options may not be fully visible, especially on small screens like the 4-inch iPhone. Instead, you must scroll through the list of possible options and choose your favourite option.

The Downloads tab displays all active downloads, as well as their speed and progress. You can either tap on the download and select Copy Address from the pop-up to acquire the source URL, or you can tap on the stop/resume button next to the download to control it.

With a built-in document viewer for PDF, DOC, XLS, PPT, TXT, HTML, and RTF file types, as well as the ability to extract ZIP and RAR archives, a photo viewer, and a media player, the app could also be used as a file manager.

The software has AirDrop/Share menu, iTunes File Sharing, FTP transfer, and other reasonable import and export options for transferring files with other apps and devices.

Files' free version allows you a restricted number of downloads and storage. You can remove the restriction by upgrading to the Pro version for $4.99 via in-app purchase.

Safari's Download Manager is the greatest overall experience when it comes to downloading files on your iPhone and iPad, especially with background downloads, because it is a native solution.

However, as previously mentioned, some third-party solutions have sophisticated capabilities such as automatic media grabbing, more protocol interfaces, improved download management choices, and so on.

Those have been plenty of options video downloader iPhone apps.

How-To Geek

How to download files using safari on your iphone or ipad.

Need to quickly download a file on your iPhone or iPad? Here's how you can do this using Safari or a third-party app.

Quick Links

How to download files using safari, how to the change default download location, alternative for ios 12 users: documents 5 by readdle.

In your work or personal life, you'll sometimes need to download a file on your iPhone or iPad. Using the new feature introduced in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, you can now do this directly in Safari. No third-party app needed!

Safari's download manager is a hidden new feature in the  iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 updates. If you're going about your day, browsing the web, you probably won't be aware of the feature. Instead, it comes up when you tap on a download link.

Go to a web page and find the link for a file you want to download. When you select it, you'll see a popup with the filename asking if you want to download it. Tap on the "Download" button.

The download will start, and you'll see a new "Downloads" button appear next to the address bar at the top of the browser. Tap on the button to reveal all current downloads. From here, you can monitor the progress of multiple downloads.

If you want to stop a download at any time, simply tap on the "X" button.

Once the download is finished, tap on the file to preview it. If you've downloaded a media file, image, or a PDF, you'll be able to see it in the preview window.

You can then share the file to any app. Tap on the "Share" button from the bottom-left corner.

Press the "Search" icon next to the filename in the Downloads section to open the file.

Once you open the file in the Files app, you can tap and hold on the file to reveal the menu.

From here, tap on "Delete" to delete the file.

By default, the downloaded files are saved to the Downloads folder in iCloud Drive in the Files app. This is a great option if you have a paid iCloud storage plan  because it allows your downloaded files to instantly sync across all your devices.

But if you're on the free, 5GB tier, you might not have space for storing large files.

Thankfully, you can change the default location to local storage. Open the "Settings" app and go to Safari > Downloads. If you can't find the browser on your phone, try using Apple's Spotlight search to locate it.

Here, switch the selection to "On My iPhone" or "On My iPad" depending on your device.

By default, Safari will pick the "Downloads" folder. You can change this by tapping on the "Other" option to select any folder from the local storage (or from a cloud storage option).

The new download manager in Safari is exclusive to iOS 13, iPadOS 13, and above. If you haven't updated to the latest OS (which you should), or if you're in a situation where you can't update, here's a workaround for you.

Try using the free Documents 5 app by Readdle . It's an all-in-one browser and file manager app.

Open the Documents 5 app and tap on the "Browser" button in the bottom-right corner to switch to the browser mode.

Now, navigate to the page with the download link and tap on it. From the next screen, select the folder where you want to download the file and tap on "Done."

The download will now start. You can tap on the "Downloads" tab to view all downloads.

Tap on the "Files" button from the bottom-left corner to switch to the file manager. From here, tap on the "Downloads" folder to see your downloaded file. You can tap on the download to preview it in the app. Tap on the "Menu" button to view options for opening the file in another app.

Introduction

Are you looking for a way to download videos while browsing Safari? Whether it’s a captivating documentary, a hilarious comedy sketch, or a mesmerizing music video, having the ability to download videos can be incredibly convenient. Unfortunately, Safari doesn’t come with a built-in video download feature. However, fear not! There is a way to download videos on Safari, and in this article, we’ll guide you through the step-by-step process.

Downloading videos can be useful for various reasons. You may want to watch a video offline, save it for future reference, or share it with others who might not have internet access. Whatever your reason may be, we’ve got you covered. So, grab your Mac or iOS device, and let’s dive into the world of video downloading on Safari!

In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to download videos on Safari, whether you’re using a Mac or an iOS device. We’ll cover how to enable the necessary menu, locate the video file, and save it to your desired location. By following these steps, you’ll have a video downloaded and ready to enjoy in no time.

Note that downloading videos from certain websites may infringe upon copyright laws and the terms of service of these sites. It’s essential to respect intellectual property rights and use this knowledge responsibly. Make sure you have permission or the right to download the video before proceeding.

Now that we have the legalities out of the way, let’s get started with the step-by-step instructions to download videos on Safari!

Step 1: Open Safari and navigate to the video

The first step in downloading a video on Safari is to open the browser and navigate to the webpage where the video is located. You can do this by simply launching Safari from your Mac or iOS device and typing the URL of the website into the address bar. Alternatively, you can search for the website or video using a search engine like Google.

Once you’ve arrived at the webpage containing the video you want to download, take a moment to ensure that the video is playing correctly. Play the video and make sure it’s fully loaded without any buffering issues. This step is important because we want to make sure we’re downloading the video in its best quality.

Ensure that the webpage you’re on allows video downloads and that you’re not violating any terms of service or copyright laws by downloading the video. It’s always a good idea to check the website’s terms and conditions or contact the website owner if you’re unsure about whether downloading the video is permitted.

Now that you have successfully opened Safari and navigated to the webpage containing the video, you’re ready to move on to the next step of the process. Let’s continue and enable the necessary menu that will help us download the video.

Step 2: Enable the Develop menu

Before we can move forward with the video downloading process, we need to enable the Develop menu in Safari. By default, this menu is hidden, so we’ll need to enable it through Safari’s preferences.

To enable the Develop menu, follow these steps:

  • Open Safari and go to the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  • Click on “Safari” and select “Preferences” from the drop-down menu.
  • In the Preferences window, click on the “Advanced” tab.
  • Check the box next to “Show Develop menu in menu bar”.

Once you’ve enabled the Develop menu, you’ll see it appear in the menu bar at the top of the screen. This menu contains a variety of developer tools that can be useful for various purposes, including video downloading.

Enabling the Develop menu gives you access to additional features and options that can enhance your browsing experience. In particular, it unlocks the ability to view and access page resources, which is integral to the video downloading process.

With the Develop menu now enabled, you’re ready to proceed to the next step of the video downloading process: opening the Develop menu and selecting “Show Page Resources”. Let’s move on to that step!

Step 3: Open the Develop menu and select “Show Page Resources”

Now that you have enabled the Develop menu in Safari, it’s time to open it and select the “Show Page Resources” option. This step will allow you to access the webpage’s resources, including the video file you want to download.

Here’s how you can open the Develop menu and select “Show Page Resources”:

  • Launch Safari and go to the webpage with the video you want to download.
  • Go to the menu bar at the top of the screen and click on “Develop”.
  • In the drop-down menu, select “Show Page Resources”.

When you select “Show Page Resources”, a new window or sidebar will appear, displaying a list of all the resources associated with the webpage. These resources include HTML files, CSS stylesheets, images, and, most importantly, video files.

Scroll through the list of resources and look for the video file you want to download. The video file may be in various formats such as .mp4, .mov, or .avi, depending on how the website has encoded it.

It’s worth mentioning that not all videos on a webpage may be easily identifiable in the resource list. Some websites may use different techniques to protect their videos or make them harder to download. In such cases, you may need to explore further or employ additional methods to locate the video file.

Once you have located the video file in the resource list, you’re ready to move on to the next step, which involves downloading the video file itself. Let’s proceed to step 4 and learn how to download the video!

Step 4: Locate the video file in the resource list

Now that you have opened the Develop menu and selected “Show Page Resources” in Safari, it’s time to locate the video file in the resource list. This step is crucial because it allows you to identify the specific video file you want to download.

Follow these steps to locate the video file in the resource list:

  • In the resource list, carefully scan through the files and look for entries that have video formats such as .mp4, .mov, .avi, or any other common video format.
  • Pay attention to the file sizes as well, as the video file is likely to have a larger size compared to other resources.
  • If the website has multiple videos, you can usually identify them based on their filenames or by looking for keywords related to the video content.
  • Once you have located the video file, take note of its location in the resource list, as you will need it in the next step to download the video.

Keep in mind that some websites may use obfuscated or coded filenames for the video files to make it more difficult to identify them. In such cases, you may need to rely on file sizes or additional information to determine the correct video file.

It’s also worth noting that not all videos on a webpage may be easily downloadable, as some websites may employ additional measures to prevent or restrict video downloads. In such cases, you may need to explore alternative methods or utilize specialized tools to download the video.

Once you have successfully located the video file in the resource list, you’re now ready for the next step, which involves downloading the video file onto your device. Let’s move on to step 5 and learn how to download the video!

Step 5: Download the video file

Now that you have located the video file in the resource list, it’s time to download the video onto your device. This step will allow you to save the video file locally, making it accessible for offline viewing or further use.

Follow these steps to download the video file:

  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the video file in the resource list. A context menu will appear.
  • In the context menu, select “Download” or “Download Linked File”. This action will initiate the download process.
  • A download progress bar or indicator may appear, showing the status of the video download. Wait for the download to complete.
  • Depending on your Safari settings, the downloaded video file may be saved automatically to your default downloads folder or prompt you to choose a location to save the file. If prompted, select the desired location to save the video file.

Once the video file has finished downloading, you will have successfully saved it onto your device. The time it takes to download the video will depend on various factors, such as the file size, your internet connection speed, and the server’s responsiveness.

It’s important to note that the downloaded video file will be in the same format and quality as it was on the website. If the video was in high definition or 4K resolution, the downloaded file will retain the same quality. However, keep in mind that the video’s quality is dependent on how it was encoded and uploaded to the website.

Now that you have successfully downloaded the video file, you can proceed to the final step, which involves saving the video file to your desired location. Let’s move on to step 6 and learn how to save the video file!

Step 6: Save the video file to your desired location

After successfully downloading the video file on Safari, you can now save it to your desired location. This step allows you to choose where you want the video file to be stored on your device for easy access and organization.

Follow these steps to save the video file to your desired location:

  • Locate the downloaded video file on your device. Depending on your settings, it may be saved automatically to your default downloads folder or the location you specified during the download process.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the video file to reveal a context menu.
  • In the context menu, select “Move” or “Copy”.
  • Navigate to the desired location or folder where you want to save the video file.
  • Click on “Move” or “Copy” to transfer the video file to the selected location.

By following these steps, you have now successfully saved the downloaded video file to your preferred location. This allows you to easily locate and access the video whenever you want to watch or share it.

It’s worth mentioning that you can also rename the video file if you want to give it a more descriptive or memorable name. This can help you identify the video easily in your file system.

Remember to choose a location that makes sense for your organizational preferences and ensures that the video file is easily accessible. You can save it to a specific folder, your desktop, or any other location that suits your needs.

Congratulations! You’ve completed the final step of the video downloading process on Safari. Now, you can enjoy your downloaded video at your convenience, whether it’s for entertainment, educational purposes, or any other personal use.

Congratulations! You have successfully learned how to download videos on Safari. By following the step-by-step guide provided in this article, you can now download your favorite videos and save them for offline viewing or sharing with others.

Remember to always respect the terms of service and copyright laws of the websites you visit. Make sure you have the legal right to download the videos and use them responsibly.

Enabling the Develop menu in Safari and accessing the page resources allows you to locate and download the video files directly from the website. By following the instructions, you can easily navigate through Safari’s menus and options to accomplish this.

Once you locate the video file in the resource list, downloading it is a straightforward process. Right-clicking on the video file and selecting “Download” initiates the download, and you can monitor the progress until the file is completely saved on your device.

Finally, saving the video file to your desired location ensures easy access and organization. You can choose the destination folder and even rename the file if necessary, making it easier to identify and locate in the future.

Now that you know how to download videos on Safari, you can enjoy your favorite content offline, share videos with friends, or keep them for reference. Whether you’re using a Mac or an iOS device, you can use these steps to download videos hassle-free.

[Tips]: Problems encountered when downloading videos in Safari

Downloading videos from the Internet is a big part of the internet experience; but often you cannot download videos directly from your Safari browser. Sure, you can opt to stream videos online, but streaming requires that you be connected to the internet all the times, which may not be realistic. Downloading videos is also a great solution when you have a slow internet connection that leads to long periods of video buffering. There are some common issues users face when downloading videos from the Safari browser directly such as:

Problem 1. Saves in the wrong format

When trying to save video files directly using Safari, the window brings up a "save as" option and once downloaded it becomes a .webarchive file as opposed to a .mp4 or .mov file as preferred.

Problem 2. Requires built-in-apps

Unlike other files you can probably download into built in apps like e-books, e-PUBs, and PDF files, videos don't usually download into in-built video apps when using Safari. This is especially a problem when using iOS.

Problem 3. It's not an obvious feature

It is possible to download by clicking on the "window" tab, followed by the "activity" tab and double-clicking the largest file. However this is not available in Safari 8.0 or other newer updates and it's not as immediately obvious to the user as a "download" tab.

Problem 4. More often than not, you can't download videos from Safari

Download videos directly from Safari may not be possible at all. You may require third party tools such as apps, some add-on's or converters to do it. As such, more often than not, it's not an good option.

Video DownloadHelper is an online video download addon that is exclusive for Mozilla Firefox. It can help you download videos from 1000 plus video sites, for totally free. It's extremely easy to download video with Video DownloadHelper plugin. When it detects videos on a web page, its icon will start rotating. Just click it to save your desired video to your computer. [Tips]: Troubleshooting on using DownloadHelper

Firefox Downloadhelper is an add-on that is useful for extracting web content. It is capable of detecting videos in your browser and it can be used to download videos onto your device. It is very helpful with the Firefox browser, but it is not available in other browsers like Safari. However, "Downloadhelper not working" is a common error and it can be very frustrating. Some issues with Downloadhelper include:

Problem 1. DownloadHelper does not work with YouTube

YouTube might sometimes block add-ons so you will no longer use DownloadHelper to capture YouTube videos but you need to get help from a third-party video downloader like iTube HD Video Downloader, which could download video with Youtube other other over 10000 sites.

Problem 2. Cannot disable DownloadHelper

You can go to the "Tools" tab and find "Add-ons". Then you can find the DownloadHelper in the Add-on list. Simply click "Disable and Uninstall" to disable it from your browser.

Problem 3. The Version of Firefox in Use

Sometimes with a new version of Firefox an older version of Downloadhelper is required for it to work. Similarly sometimes the Firefox version is too old for it to work with the version of Downloadhelper. The mismatch can be very frustrating.

Problem 4. Not Working with YouTube

YouTube is the most popular video sharing website with videos ranging from cat videos to science tutorials to the moon landing. So downloading videos from it is commonplace. Yet sometimes Downloadhelper will work for years and then suddenly stop working with YouTube due to compatibility issues with the website.

Problem 5. Troubleshooting may be too technical

Most internet users only have layman computer skills so when the need to troubleshoot Downloadhelper arises, they may only be able to do basic things like restarting their browser or updating the extension. Anything more complicated than that may leave them stumped.

Problem 6. Downloadhelper does not detect the video

Sometimes the video file is available on the browser but Downloadhelper does not detect the video and therefore doesn't offer the download option. Even with the latest versions of the browsers and the extensions, this could still happen.

Problem 7. Flash files may require conversion

When a file is in MPEG-4 format, once it's downloaded on an Apple device, you're set to watch it again offline. However if it's a Flash file you might need to convert it and when using Downloadhelper the conversion process is technical and may be difficult to execute. For more troubleshooting, go to DownloadHelper Not Working Fixed .

Conclusion:

Today we have discussed two solutions to download videos in Safari , one is iTube HD Video Downloader, the best DownloadHelper for Safari. Another is to download videos from Safari direcly. Besides, we also talked about the downloaderhelper for Firefox and the problems about it. Among them, we highly recommend iTube HD Video Downloader, which could download any video embedded in the page with one click from over 10,000 sites and solve all the problems encountered on using safari directly or safari add-ons to download videos.

Best Download Manager Apps for iOS

When we first published this article, Safari on the iPhone and iPad lacked download management capabilities, and the only way to manage downloads was to use a third-party app for it.

But lately, Apple introduced native file management on the iPhone and iPad with the Files app in 2017. Two years later, Safari got its Download Manager, letting users store and manage downloads via the Files app on iPhone and iPad.

Over time, there have been improvements to the native download manager in Safari, which has made it one of the best download managers for the iPhone and iPad. But even so, there are a few things you need to set up to get the most out of Safari’s Download Manager.

This article will explore how to use Safari’s Download Manager to its full potential, as well as some third-party apps for download management on iPhone and iPad.

Note: The criteria for considering an app as a decent download manager for iOS still remains the same as before. The app should primarily be able to download all file types, display download speed, provide resume support for in-progress downloads, etc. It should also allow you to export the downloaded files to other apps, and provide basic support for opening common photo, audio, video & document formats.

Copy   Safari Download Manager on iOS, iPadOS

Here, we’ll guide you to set up Safari on iOS and iPadOS, to get the most out of its Download Manager.

Copy   Set up your Download Manager

To get the most out of Safari’s Download Manager, it’s preferable to go through some basic setup.

The Downloads icon appears in the top-right corner within Safari, next to the address bar. But this icon is hidden by default unless a file is added to the download queue.

Safari Download Manager on iOS, iPadOS

Now, you might have noticed that the icon automatically disappears after some time, even if you’ve downloaded files in the past.

If you need access to your download list items (Download History) at all times, there is an option you need to modify. The following steps will guide you to always show the Downloads icon in Safari.

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Scroll down and tap on Safari .
  • Under the “General” section, tap on Downloads .
  • Tap on Remove Download List Items , and select Manually .

While you’re here, you may also want to change the location for your downloads. By default, Safari saves your downloads in the Downloads folder within iCloud Drive.

If you frequently download files using Safari, that could consume unnecessary storage on iCloud, especially if you forget to delete temporary downloads. To avoid such a situation, it’s recommended that you change your Downloads location outside of iCloud Drive.

Set up Safari's Download Manager - iPhone and iPad

To do so, go to the Settings app, and navigate to Safari >> Downloads (under “General” section), and choose the On My iPhone/iPad option under the “Store Downloaded Files On” section, to save your downloads to the local Downloads folder. Alternatively, you may choose a custom location for your Downloads, by selecting “Other…” and choosing the appropriate folder.

Thereafter, when you download a file in Safari, it will be saved to your device in the selected location, and the same will be available in Safari’s Download List. And, as long as you don’t “Clear” the entire list, the Downloads icon should remain visible next to the address bar.

Note: To clear individual items from the Downloads list, go to Safari, tap on the Downloads icon, and instead of tapping on “Clear”, slide a specific item in the list from the right to reveal the Delete option, and then tap on Delete .

If you open a download link in Safari, there are two possible outcomes.

  • You get a pop-up with the options to either “View” or “Download” the file, or both.
  • The content or media behind the link directly opens in Safari.

In the first scenario, you can tap on the Download button in the pop-up, which starts downloading the file.

In the second scenario, the below section(s) will guide you to download such files.

Copy   Download files instead of opening them in Safari

Download files instead of opening them in Safari

Some files, such as PDF, MP4, etc., may directly open in Safari when you click on a download link instead of showing the Download prompt. To download these files in Safari, do the following:

  • Open the web page containing the download link in Safari on the iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap and hold the download link to pop out and reveal additional options.
  • Scroll down through the associated options, and tap on Download Linked File .

The file will be added to the Downloads List (queue) in Safari and start downloading.

Copy   Download files when the “Download Linked File” option is not available

If opening a direct download link in Safari doesn’t provide the “Download” pop-up, or if the “Download Linked File” option doesn’t appear when you tap & hold an embedded link, here is what you can do to download these files using Safari.

Download files when the “Download Linked File” option is not available

  • Open the link in Safari for iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap on the Share icon from the bottom of the screen.
  • Scroll and select the Save to Files option.
  • Choose a preferred location to save the file, and tap on Save from the top right corner.

The file would be saved in the selected location.

Note: If the link is for an audio or video file, Safari will open it in its built-in media player. In this case, tap on the screen to reveal the player controls, and tap on the ‘X’ to close the player. Now you should be back in the Safari window, with the URL of the media available on the address bar. Proceed with Step #2 above to download the file.

Copy   Download Video from streaming sites in Safari on iPhone, iPad

If you want to download embedded videos or audio via Safari, you can use any suitable web media grabber, such as 9xBuddy , to parse the streaming link and get the direct download link to the source video or audio file.

Once you get the direct download link, you can download it in Safari just like any other file, as mentioned in the above sections. You may refer to this section of our dedicated article to learn how to do so.

Copy   Other Features of Safari’s Download Manager on iPhone and iPad

Resume Support: In Safari, if you access the Downloads list (by clicking on the Download icon next to the address bar) while downloading a file, you can pause a download temporarily by tapping on the “X” next to the file, and it changes to the “Resume” icon. You can come back later and resume the download again (if the server supports it) by tapping on the “Resume” icon. The Downloads list also allows you to view the progress of current downloads.

Background Downloads: Once a download starts, you may switch to other apps and continue working. The download should continue in the background without interruption. In our experience, background downloads in Safari on iPhone and iPad work much more reliably compared to background downloads on third-party download managers.

Hence, Safari’s built-in download manager on iOS and iPadOS is now powerful enough to handle and manage different types of file downloads. But if you still want to explore other third-party online downloader apps, the below section explores a few of them.

Copy   Third-party Download Manager apps for iPhone and iPad

Copy   documents – file manager with downloader.

Documents is one of the most popular file management apps on the iOS platform but also serves as a decent file downloader, especially because of its native support for a wide variety of file types both for viewing as well as for downloading. Being a full-fledged file management app, you can organize and store your files, and view them without having to export them to any other app.

Documents – File Manager with Downloader

Documents app provides additional features, including the option to add different connections (WebDAV, SFTP, SMB, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.), rename the file, and set the download location at the time of file download, etc.

Documents app  is completely free without any limitations or ads. You can learn more about the versatile iOS file manager app, in our dedicated article.

Copy   Total Downloader – Download Manager for iPhone, iPad

Total Downloader is a file and download manager for iOS that satisfies almost all of the criteria to be considered as a decent download manager. Its built-in browser supports universal search and can download any type of file format.

From a particular web page, you can tap on a download link, and choose between whether you want to Download or Open (Navigate) it. Unlike many other downloader apps which directly open the file on clicking on the download button, Total handles it smartly by letting you decide the subsequent action.

Total Downloader - iPhone Download Manager

The Downloads tab in the Transfers screen lists all the active and inactive download tasks, which includes the current speed of the download, size of the download, and other details. Tapping on a particular download will allow you to Pause, Resume or Cancel the download. Completed downloads appear in the files tab, from where you can play or open the file, or export it to Photos (for photos and videos only) or other apps using the Open In option.

One of the most unique features of Total is its ability to grab embedded media links from specific streaming sites, like Facebook, Vimeo, Instagram, etc. But to avoid legal issues, it explicitly disables the grabbing functionality from certain sites that primarily host original copyrighted content from artists/creators.

Total also has certain features of a file manager app. It supports the opening of common text, photo, audio, video, documents, and archive formats, also integrating a bunch of cloud services, including Dropbox Google Drive, OneDrive, and WebDAV services. Thus, you can directly sync the downloaded files with your preferred cloud service, and even stream media files from the cloud.

Some of the other notable features of Total include private browsing mode, bookmarks, and history management, user agent spoofing, PIN-protected folders, and much more.

The free version of Total is ad-supported. You can remove ads and upgrade to the pro version of the app with an in-app purchase of $4.99.

Copy   Files – Download Manager for iOS

Files app (not to be confused with Apple’s app of the same name) is quite simple in its look and feel, yet powerful to handle any type of download link we throw at it. The app has four sections, a web browser, a download manager, a section for the downloaded files, and Settings. The built-in web browser provides specific settings for the default search engine, user agent (Mobile Safari or Firefox), and custom MIME types that define how the app handles different types of download links. You can either type a complete URL or use a search phrase on the browser’s unified search bar.

Files - Download Manager App for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

Files also have a Safari Bookmarklet, which allows you to transfer download links from the iOS Safari browser to the Files’ built-in browser, where you can download from the available links. Even if a particular file type is not supported for download, you can manually define how the app handles it, by adding it as a new MIME type. Alternatively, you can tap & hold the download link and select Download Linked File As option.

Note: If the download URL string is long, the action choices for tap & hold may not be visible fully, especially on small screen devices, such as the 4-inch iPhone. You need to scroll through the list of available options and select the preferred one instead. The Downloads tab shows all the active downloads, along with their download speed and progress. You can tap on the download and select Copy Address from the pop-up to get its source URL or tap on the stop/resume button next to the download to control the operation as preferred.

The app could also serve as a file manager, with a built-in document viewer for PDF, DOC, XLS, PPT, TXT, HTML, and RTF file formats, ability to extract ZIP and RAR archives, photo viewer, and media player.

The app provides decent import and export options for exchanging files with other apps, and also with other devices, including AirDrop/Share menu, iTunes File Sharing, FTP transfer, etc.

The free version of Files provides for limited downloads and storage. To remove the limitation, you can upgrade to the Pro version via in-app purchase, for $4.99.

Being a native solution, Safari’s Download Manager provides the best overall experience when it comes to downloading files on your iPhone and iPad, especially with background downloads.

But as described above, a few of the third-party solutions offer some advanced features, such as automatic media grabbing, additional protocol integrations, better download management options, etc.

How to manage downloads in Safari on iPad

Manage your downloads in Safari like a pro. Here's how to get those downloads organized.

Safari on iPad

How to download a file in Safari

How to manage your downloads, how to view your downloaded files on ipad.

In the most recent versions of iPadOS, Apple is finally bringing desktop capabilities to Safari on the iPad. This is possible in part because the iPad is finally separating itself from the iPhone, and iPadOS brings about a ton of new functionalities, especially with Safari. One of the biggest new features in Safari is the ability to download and manage files from webpages.

Since Safari now has a desktop-class browsing experience on the iPad , it's actually possible to download files directly on your iPad. Whether it's zip folders, documents, videos, music, software restore files, or whatever suits your fancy, you can do it right on your iPad.

  • Launch Safari on your iPad.
  • Navigate to any webpage that contains the file you want to download.
  • Tap on the link to the file that you want to download. If the website has the Download option hidden under a menu, just tap on it until you find the download link .
  • Confirm whether you want to download the file by tapping on Download .
  • If you change your mind about the download, just tap on the "X" . Your download will begin downloading immediately if you chose to download it.

Like on the desktop, you can view and manage your current downloads right in Safari.

  • Tap on the Downloads button in the toolbar (it's the arrow pointing down inside a circle). This reveals a popover menu with your current downloads.
  • If a file is still downloading but you want to cancel it, just tap on the "X" .
  • If you want to resume the download, tap on the Resume button (looks like the refresh icon in Safari).
  • To view your file, tap on the magnifying glass to open up your Downloads folder in iCloud Drive.
  • This gets rid of any unfinished downloads as well, so be careful.
  • Any completed downloads will still remain in your Downloads folder in iCloud Drive.

After you download a file from Safari, you can quickly jump to it from the download manager by tapping on that magnifying glass icon. But if you want to view them manually after clearing out the list, you can do that too.

  • Launch Files on your iPad.
  • Tap on Browse .
  • Make sure to select iCloud Drive from the Locations side panel.
  • Locate the Downloads folder and tap it.
  • Tap on a file to view it.
  • If you want to share the file, tap on the Share button in the top right corner to bring up the Share Sheet .

Download like a pro

With this type of functionality, the best iPad feels ever more like a cross between a computer and a smartphone. This ability to download and manage files is quite MacBookish, but in its own iPad way. Once you have this mastered, you can manage downloads in Safari and keep them organized for a more streamlined experience.

Download any file on your iPhone or iPad with Safari Downloader+ tweak for Safari

video downloader for safari ipad

Safari is one of the most popular mobile web browser and thanks to the recent changes that were added to it with the release of iOS 7 it has got even better than ever before. While Safari is a great way to browse the internet on iPhone and iPad it lacks a major feature i.e. the ability to download files from the web. Same is true for any third party iOS browser since Apple does not allow iOS users to download files from the web.

However if your device is jailbroken then you don’t have to worry about Apple’s pointless restrictions. A new tweak called Safari Downloader+ is yet another hack for Safari that enables it to download stuff from the web. This tweak supports a wide range of file types and features that make it a must have for every iOS user.

The best thing about the Safari Downloader+ tweak is that it is fully integrated in the Safari browser so you can initiate downloads and manage them right from the Safari.app. Once downloaded you can export the files in your favorite third party applications such as Dropbox, VLC and iFile.

Safari Downloader+ is a two in one tweak that not only enables file downloading in Safari but also allows users to download videos from Youtube.

Some of the features of this download manager for Safari browser include simultaneous downloads, support for a wide range of file types and extensions, ability for users to control concurrent downloads, badge notifications showing how many downloads are in progress, ability to change browser’s UserAgent so the desktop version of the website can be viewed and more.

Safari Downloader+ is a universal tweak, which means you only have to purchase it once for both iPhone and iPad. It fully supports the newer 64-bit iOS devices and works on iOS 7 as well as iOS 6.

You can download it for $3.50. The price seems a bit excessive but if downloading stuff on your iPhone or iPad is important to you then its a small price to pay.

If you are looking for a free solution then try Safari Download Enabler tweak .

There is no safari downloader on india’s AppStore

this can only be installed using Cydia on jailbroken devices

Lol, this guy wrote his thoughtless comment 2 months ago – Don’t think he’ll ever read your reply today.

Looking at the time of your reply, bet you searched for an compatible Safari Download Tweak for iOS 8 too. I only saw a list where Chrome Downloader was listed under the compatible tweaks. Anybody knowing about Safari?

Last year (iOS 7) it was a two month wait until Safari Download Enabler came out. Luckily for free, but who knows when it gets updated. (Paid for Safari Download Manager in iOS 6, but the guy still hasn’t updated just for 7 – despite promises otherwise. Hope the Enabler Dev handles that different).

Would also consider buying Downloader+ for iOS 8. At least that would show the dev’s updating his tweaks (hate paying for tweaks which get abandoned for the next iOS version)

Hahahahaha, You are 100% correct! I am defiantly going to buy idownloader+ Once they allow us to buy tweaks on iOS 8

Hehheh, the timing was your tell 😉 Thx for your reply. Being able to DL through Safari is one of the coolest features after a JB 🙂

I’m using Downloads HD (or Downloads for iPad from the App Store) for now. Like last year until Enabler arrived. Works really fine but of course there’s no possibility to choose a Download Destination with this. Real hassle to always have to cut & paste the files to different directories but it still beats downloading through Safari alone where you don’t see any DL progress/speed and thus have no idea when this darn “Open With …” screen appears.

iDownloader? Thanks for the tip – Cydia buying is open again but can’t find any iDownloader. Only found a repo from a guy named iDownloader 😉

Is there a typo or did you mean the tweak mentioned in this article (Downloader+)? Afaik it’s not compatible with iOS 8 atm. Tried Download Enabler as some iOS 7 apps/tweaks also work with 8 (like iFile, iCleaner or Mobile Terminal) but alas Enabler isn’t one of them.

My mistake, it’s “Safari downloader+” THX for ur wishes have a nice week end two

Thanks mate 🙂

Did you end up buying it (if yes did it work)? Couldn’t even purchase it in Cydia if I wanted to (product not supported in your iOS version). Sucks that so many devs seem to lose interest in updating their apps after every new iOS release.

Best wishes

Yea so far this tweak and all similar ones are not working ! That’s very frustrating!!! Will let u know if they did

Thx. Same for me if I end up discovering something working

just searched, if you don’t know already Safari Downloader+ (the one named in the article) is finally iOS 8 compatible. The creator updated it, apparently he still needs to fix the “Import Media” feature, everything else should work fine. Will buy it now.

Good news is – especially considering the little higher price than similar not (yet?) compatible tweaks, apparently it’s also for Youtube DLs

Thx a lot I’ll buy it now ! Can’t wait

Wow fast reply 🙂

Just tried it out – Works fine. Little unused to that it’s an own app. The screen up in the article (with the DL speed) doesn’t appear for now, but browsing, DL location etc work well. Just no DL speed and progress at the moment but when the DL is finished shortly a little blue bar appears in the upper right screen … Lol

Sure those small things’ll get fixed too but all in all I’m happy finally a Safari DL tweak has arrived for iOS 8 😉

Where can I find the ios8 version.. What source ?

Just the normal Big Boss Repo in Cydia – But you need a jailbroken iPhone/iPad to be able to download/use it. (I take it from your question that you maybe haven’t – If that’s the case – and you are on any iOS version below iOS 8.1.1 – a Jailbreak is possible and not too hard. There a plenty of step-by-step tutorials out there but it’s basically just plugging your iDevice into your Computer, starting the downloaded Jailbreak Program for you iOS Version and wait a few minutes until it’s done. After that you’re able to customize your iDevice in pretty much any way you want (like with a downloading app for Safari). Before doing it however, read up a bit about it and decide if it’s for you.)

Uninstalled this again – Alas even though updated for iOS 8, the app made Safari constantly crash on my iPad Air. Hope it runs better for you.

If not I stumbled over an awesome alternative. There’s a browser in the App Store called iCab and it’s great! It has so many more features than Safari (much more search engines, better operability, settings for nearly everything). But best of all, it also has a very well implemented download function!

Besides only being half the price of the Downloader one never has to wait for (maybe-)updates of Cydia tweaks anymore – As it is an official App Store App and also works for non-jailbroken.

Can’t believe I haven’t discovered this app sooner. People always talk about Chrome or Dolphin in terms of alternative browsers. Of course, they’re free but with all the features and the awesome download function iCab’s more than worth its 2 bucks.

I prefer using safari, but thx a lot for the advice ill keep it in m y mind

i recently updated to iOS 8.1.2, had this tweak already purchased when i was on iOS 7 which was working relatively fine except for Safari crashing 6 times out of 10 and i thought upgrading might fix the problem but i’m now discovering that this cannot download ANY video types in Safari

How to Download a Video Stream in Safari

young chinese business people working with laptop

Being able to save streaming video for later viewing is a convenient feature when you don't always have an internet connection. If you're running a Mac computer, the video downloader in the Safari browser provides this capability. There are also third-party apps like Video Grabber that help you download video files to an Apple computer or mobile device.

Download Video from a Website with Safari

When you're viewing a web page in Safari on an Apple Mac computer, you can click on the link to any downloadable content to begin the download process. For items on the page without links, use Control-click on the item and then select Download Linked File . You can view a list of saved videos and other files by clicking on the Show Downloads button located at the upper right of the browser window (note that the Show Downloads button is only visible if files have been downloaded).

Video of the Day

When Show Downloads is clicked, the Downloads panel is displayed with a list of files that have been downloaded or are in the process of being downloaded. You can stop or pause a download in process by clicking on the Stop button displayed to the right of the file name. The Search button next to each file name in the list can be used to locate the physical storage location of the downloaded file on the computer.

Using Video Grabber

Video Grabber is a video download helper that claims to simplify video downloading on Mac computers. The web-based application is available at videograbber.net, where you can paste or type in the link to a video and press a button to begin downloading the video file to your computer. The link must be from a supported site and the video must be unprotected by encryption. There is also a premium version of the application that supports more sites and downloads encrypted videos.

Downloading to an iPhone or iPad

Although Safari is the default browser for the iPhone and iPad, there is no direct way to download videos on Apple mobile devices. Instead, there are apps that support video downloading, such as Documents by Readdle. The app's built-in web browser allows you to download videos to an internal storage area. You can view them from that location or move the video files to your camera roll so they can be accessed like other videos on your device.

Downloading Videos Safely and Legally

Most of the content available online for download is in the public domain, which means you can watch it for free. Video on websites like YouTube and Hulu are in the public domain and can be watched without piracy issues, but you may need to subscribe in order to download content. Sources for free downloadable videos without a subscription include iTunes, Google Play, Vimeo and the Amazon Prime Video Store.

Besides copyright issues, it's important to be aware of the possibility of inadvertently downloading malware to your phone or computer when you save an online video. Research websites that offer free video downloads and only use those that are reputable. It's also a good idea to run virus scanning software on downloaded files before opening them, or in the case of video files, viewing them.

How can I download videos straight from safari ??

Hello, I am using ipad with the latest ios version i.e., ios 10.0.2.

Please help me out how to download videos(any files mainly documents) straight from safari to view offline .

Many web sites are offering their videos to download videos or may be the other files even thogh the device have space we are not able to utilize that space as a media storage while all the other mobile platforms are providing.

Many users need to show some documents to the other people where the internet may not be available.

This thing mostly happens with the iphones even though they have the outstanding performance and 256 GB of data and if we need those documents offline we have to download some other applications such that we can transfer the documents from a mac or pc(through itunes). We know the devices support these type of documents but we need a way to access the files, documents, videos, etc., we need to depend on a mac or pc(through itunes) we need the devices independent of any other devices.

Is there a way to do so please help me out. So that it is easily accessible.

For videos, if the website allows downloading, the VLC app can download a video to the iOS device for later playback. If capturing the video requires a computer, VLC publishes itself as a website on the LAN and you can drag and drop videos onto it using a browser. That's simpler than using iTunes.

Hi. For documents, you can add them to the Safari reading list, or transfer them to another app, like GoodReader, for offline use. GoodReader can handle pdf, html, Microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, etc. I don't know about video.

Jan 18, 2017 3:04 AM in response to Diana.McCall

Yeah, I agree with you

But the thing is we have to copy the URL to download to VLC

Safari should be independent like the other apps it should be able to download all the files and sharing should be easy.

Jan 18, 2017 3:17 AM in response to King_Penguin

Yeah, its good but its of 300₹ in the Indian store

every one needs that easy access and sharing but not every one buys that application

Not only that no one needs to get the another application for just downloads and also we can't make the other applications as default we need on safari as by default

You can't into the Videos app (not sure about the TV app in the US, but I doubt it). Some apps have built-in browsers that allow you to download items directly into them e.g. GoodReader

The short answer is, you don't.

How I use my iPad

How i use my ipad: save images – a free safari image downloader [video].

Avatar for Jeff Benjamin

Unlike the desktop version of Safari, the iOS version lacks the handy inspector that allows you to access web pages resources like background images.  Save Images is a free iOS Safari extension that lets you quickly identify and save images from a web page. Watch our hands-on video walkthrough to see it in action.

Once you download Save Images from the App Store , you can enable and move its extension via the Safari share sheet. After landing on a web page with images that you wish to identify and save, simply tap the Save Images button in the share sheet.

Save Images will list all of the web page’s available images, including CSS background images. Users can then tap on an image and copy its URL, or save the image directly to the Photo Library.

You can configure the types of images that Save Images will identify via its preferences. Just open the Save Images app, and use the three available switches to customize the extension to your liking.

Because the iOS version of Safari lacks all of the handy developer-centric tools of the desktop version, extensions like Save Images are instrumental to my iPad workflow. You can download the utility free of charge from the App Store.

What do you think about Save Images? Do you have another way that you go about identifying and saving images from the web? Sound off in the comments with your thoughts.

Jailbreak news of the week: Dopamine and palera1n updates, SiriPlus, Sushi, TrollRecorder, & more…

One of the big things we do here at iDownloadBlog is keep up with the latest developments in the iPhone and iPad jailbreak communities so that our readers know about everything that may be possible with their hacked devices.

Weekly jailbreak news roundup.

We care about keeping our readers informed so much that we create detailed weekly roundups like this one that help fill in the cracks for people who might miss important news posts as they happen during the busy work week. That said, this roundup encompasses the week of Monday, March 4 th to Sunday, March 10 th .

Without any further ado, let’s dive right into what this past week brought us in terms of iPhone & iPad hacking and jailbreaking news.

Important stuff from this week

Dopamine updates.

Dopamine v2.0.10 update.

The Dopamine v2 semi-untethered jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16 received important updates this week that further enhance the tool’s stability.

You can learn about the latest updates to Dopamine below:

  • Dopamine v2.0.10 released

palera1n updates

Palera1n jailbreak.

The palera1n checkm8 bootrom exploit-based semi-tethered rootless jailbreak for arm64 devices (A8-A11) running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.x and iPadOS 17.x received important updates this past week to address stability.

You can learn more about what’s new in these updates below:

  • palera1n v2.0.0 beta 9.1

TrollStore updates

TrollStore banner image.

The TrollStore perma-signing utility received updates this past week that further improve the platform with bug fixes & stability improvements.

You can learn more about what’s new in the latest TrollStore releases below:

  • TrollStore v2.0.13 released

SiriPlus replaces Siri with ChatGPT or Google Gemini.

It’s no longer a question that iOS & iPadOS’ Siri voice assistant is being left in the dust by artificial intelligence. In fact, that may well explain why iOS & iPadOS 18 are expected to integrate more AI than any update before them.

But if you’re currently jailbroken and wish that you could have access to these powerful tools right now without any wait, then you’re in luck. SiriPlus is a new jailbreak tweak that replaces Siri with either ChatGPT or Gemini, whichever you prefer.

You can learn more about SiriPlus in our full review post .

TrollRecorder

Screenshots of the TrollRecorder application.

TrollRecorder is an impressive add-on for the TrollStore perma-signing utility that lets users record their incoming and outgoing phone calls without a jailbreak.

Most of the features of this app can be used for free, but by purchasing the full license for the app, you can unlock premium features that you’re definitely not going to want to miss out on.

You can find out more about TrollRecorder and what it can do in our full review post .

Fiona screenshot examples.

Fiona is a floating Tab Bar jailbreak tweak for iPhones running iOS 14 and later.

Not only does it make the Tab Bar appear to hover over the app’s user interface, but it lets you customize the floating Tab Bar’s colors, sizing, and behavior.

You can learn everything you need to know about Fiona in our full review post .

Genesis 4 banner.

Genesis 4 is an all-in-one jailbreak tweak for customizing almost any part of the iOS or iPadOS 15 or 16 mobile operating systems.

The tweak offers an extensive list of options that range from the Home Screen, to the Status Bar, to the Dock, and so on.

You can learn more about what’s possible with the Genesis 4 jailbreak tweak in our full review post .

MoreComplications

MoreComplicatioks adds more widget rows to the iOS 16 Lock Screen.

You can normally only have two large widgets or four small widgets on the iOS 16 Lock Screen, but the new MoreComplications jailbreak tweak removes that restriction.

Once installed, you can add more rows of widgets to the Lock Screen so that you can take better advantage of the application widgets you’ve downloaded from the App Store instead of compromising and choosing which ones to use and and which ones not to use.

You can learn more about MoreComplications and how it works in our full review post .

Sushi banner.

Sushi is a newly released Now Playing widget jailbreak tweak that gives you aesthetically pleasing music controls and information at a glance.

The tweak has been under development for some time, but it was officially time to release after adding support for the latest jailbreaks and rootless dynamics.

You can learn more about Sushi in our full review post .

AirPodsCompanion

AirPodsCompanion screenshot examples.

You can acquire improved access to changing listening modes via your AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, or certain Beats headphones with the help of the new AirPodsCompanion jailbreak tweak.

This tweak makes it easier to switch between Active Noise Cancellation mode, Adaptive Mode, or Transparency Mode with a new HUD interface, which can alternatively be configured to display Now Playing or headphone battery information.

You can learn more about AirPodsCompanion i n our full review post .

TrollSpeed screenshot examples.

TrollSpeed is a TrollStore add-on that displays the current download and upload speeds of your device in the Status Bar.

The add-on accomplishes this task without a jailbreak, and the UI displays system-wide, without the need to keep an app open.

You can find out more about TrollSpeed and how it works in our full review post .

TrollPad is a unique add-on that can trick your jailbroken iPhone into thinking that it’s running iPadOS.

In doing so, features that are normally locked down to iPad models, especially higher-end later models, can now be used on your pwned iPhone, such as Stage Manager, the grid-like App Switcher, the floating Dock with recently-used apps and the App Library icon, and more.

You can learn all about TrollPad and where you can get it from in our full review post .

No2Theft iOS 16

No2Theft banner.

No2Theft iOS 16 is a jailbreak tweak for pwned iOS 16 devices that can help make it easier to discover who made off with your jailbroken iPhone the moment you realize it was stolen.

With it, the iPhone can fire an alarm when it unexpectedly falls victim to a thief, such as when it becomes disconnected from its charger without your permission, or when the passcode gets entered incorrectly too many times. You can also capture an image with the device’s front-facing camera to hopefully discover who the perpetrator is.

You can learn more about No2Theft iOS 16 and why it’s a great jailbreak tweak in our full review post .

Mooner screenshot.

Mooner is a free alternative to the Lunar jailbreak tweak, giving users a redesigned Lock Screen on pwned iOS 15 and 16 devices.

Not only does it include a new font for the Lock Screen text, but it also lets you change the formatting for the date and time and change its positioning on the Lock Screen.

You can learn more about Mooner in our full review post .

Reveil screenshot examples.

Reveil is a system information and security analysis app that can show you important information about your device and also let you know about potential software modifications on your device.

Reveil is a modern SwiftUI-based reincarnation of unc0ver jailbreak lead developer pwn20wnd’s Unveil app.

You can learn more about Reveil in our full review post .

Ratings and Reviews

Works well for what it is, falls behind on features.

I love Luminar for desktop, but do not expect the same type of functionality from the IPad version. I don’t doubt that Skylum’s goal is to make the iPad version as feature rich as the desktop version; but for the subscription cost, it could definitely use more. This is especially considering Lightroom has been out for years on iPad, and is on par with desktop-version features. (But I hate adobe). So I look forward to seeing how Skylum adds features and hope that it can eventually replicate Neo. The three stars is for lack of core features such as color adjustment (hsl), Gradients, brushes, lens corrections, defringe, etc. I’ll be updating my review as features get added though. Love you , I know you guys are hard at work <3

Terrific first AI photo editor from Skylum

By far Skylum’s Luminar Neo for computer desktop removes the complexity of photo editing with sophisticated tools made simple. Luminar for IPad doesn’t replace the desktop version but includes some of the best and most used tools to enhance your photos. Best of all with one click you can send your edited version back to your Photos library where it will appear next to your original!

Developer Response ,
