South America Tours & Holidays
Colourful, candid and everything in-between. South America beats to the rhythm of an infectious, eternal drum.
It’s the sequined heat of Carnival and a cool breeze blowing across the Andes, a fiery Argentine tango and the soft silence of an Ecuadorian cloud forest. You taste it in the crackle of slow-cooked barbecue and the tang of a good pisco sour. About the only thing the continent lacks is monotony. From the rocky slopes of Galapagos to the dawn-lit ruins of Machu Picchu , South America is effervescent with sights, sounds and salsa. Now, pass the empanadas and let's talk adventure.

Frequently asked questions, when is the best time to visit machu picchu.
Between April and October is the dry season, with the historic landmark becoming more crowded during the months of June and August. The hottest weather here also corresponds with the wet season – November to March. It’s worth noting that while Machu Picchu is open throughout the year, the Inca Trail is closed during February due to intense rainfall. Additionally, please keep in mind that the Inca Trail is restricted to 500 visitors per day – make a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment.
What language is spoken in Brazil?
The people of Brazil speak Brazilian Portuguese. While many phrases and words are similar to that of European Portuguese, you will find that there can be drastic differences in pronunciation and meaning when it comes to Brazilian Portuguese. We’d recommend bringing a phrasebook specific to Brazil for your convenience.
What’s the official currency of Chile?
The Chilean currency is the peso, which is divided into 100 centavos. You may hear locals informally refer to banknotes by the name of whoever is featured on them, such as an arturo for Arturo Prat on the 10,000 peso note, and a gabriela for the 5,000 peso note.
Lively cities dancing to the beat of a Samba drum, impeccable cuisine, ancient ruins and a hugely varied melting pot of historic culture and traditions – South America has something to offer everybody.
Why you’ll love South America…
• Climbing the volcanic rock formations of the Atacama Desert • Trekking the famous Inca Trail • Exploring the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu • Witnessing the force of Iguazu Falls • Enjoying succulent steaks in Buenos Aires • Marvelling at the blue hues of the Grey Lake glaciers • Dancing the night away at one of Rio’s samba schools • Observing the enigmatic Nazca Lines • Discovering the rustic villages of the Sacred Valley • Riding a cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain • Gazing up at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue • Watching the beautiful people on Copacabana Beach
Did you know?
• There’s a painting of the Last Supper in the Peruvian Cathedral Basilica depicting Jesus and his disciples dining on roast guinea pig • An underground river has been discovered 13,000 feet beneath the Earth’s surface, underneath the Amazon River • In 1946, 50 beavers were introduced to Tierra del Fuego by the Argentinian government to help create a fur industry. Today their numbers have soared to over 100,000, and they have destroyed 16 million hectares of forests.

Great park to have on the itinerary. Just enough time to see the highlights and some extras. Guide was great as well as the crew. A nice part of the trip. Hiking was good as well as the camping location. The full camp at Pahoe is great and so is the staff. The park is amazing. Our guide throughout the trip was excellent. A professional when he needed to be on the trip and a fun companion well we could all relax.

How Farming Fights Food Insecurity & Climate Change

We had such an amazing time! What a place! Everything worked like clockwork - every single flight, transfer, pick up , trip etc which is quite something considering how many trips and how travelling we did. Guides - we spent the most time with Julio who was fantastic. He just knows everything. I ask a lot of questions and we had some great chats. He didn't rush us with anything at all. Was really glad he took us on the first snorkel, and it being just the three of us, as I'd never done it before and he just let us take our time and we never felt pressured. We didn't spend as much time with the other two guides due to the itinerary but they were also great. They really couldn’t do enough for us. High points very hard to say - probably snorkelling but we loved the kayaking in Isabela, both the giant tortoise trips, spa on the last day, just chilling on the beach in Isabela watching the iguanas No low points. The group trips were more rushed and the guides were more under pressure to stick to the itinerary but not a problem, just the nature of it. The kayaking in Santa Cruz was a little rushed because our flight was a bit late. If I would do anything differently I would possibly not have done the kayaking in Santa Cruz and just seen more of the town and enjoyed the lovely hotel as we just had the afternoon and evening Accommodation in Quito, Santa Cruz and Isabela - all fantastic. Would go back to them all. The breakfasts in Quito and Santa Cruz hotels were very special - they just brought you samples of traditional, local fruit, juices and hot dishes. Meals at a farm as part of the volcano walk and at a pizza place in Isabel were excellent. Picked the trip as always my ultimate bucket list trip, and Andean Trails after doing some research on Google and due to the initial enquiries being dealt with very well. Thanks again for an amazing itinerary and excellent organisation.
Helen Skinner (UK), Galapagos Land Tour: Santa Cruz and Isabela, Jan 2023
We all had a great holiday and want to thank you and your company very much for making it all possible. All of the guides were great, very knowledgeable and we never had to wait around for anyone to pick us up - everything ran like clockwork, which considering the number of events/hotels and movements we had in our itinerary, was amazing.
Our favourite place in Ecuador was Mindo and our lodge accommodation there- what a great place and so nice to have it all to ourselves! The staff were very welcoming and the food was great and very plentiful!! I'm surprised I only put on 1/2 a pound throughout the holiday, considering all of the food we ate!
Our favourite place overall has to be Galapagos but as that was the reason for the whole holiday, it wasn't surprising - just to be so close to the various different animals was amazing and our favourite activity has to be snorkelling with the sea lions and turtles, I can't believe how close they came to us, it was truly a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed the time on Angelito and it was definitely right to finish the holiday off that way.
Thank you so much for all the time you've spent making sure that we had the holiday of a lifetime, we really do appreciate it and I'm glad we finally got there after all the Covid issues.
I've already recommended you to 2 different people who may be interested in going to Galapagos and certainly if we decide to do another South American holiday as a group, we'll definitely be back in touch having now had 2 successful and memorable holidays with you!

Machu Picchu, Rio de Janeiro, the Atacama Desert, Iguaçu Falls, Salar de Uyuni, the Amazon – South America’s list of big-name attractions is staggering. Travel to misty peaks, glistening glaciers and dense rainforests; and meet inquisitive sea lions, photo-bombing llamas and incredibly sociable people. After one visit to South America, you’ll be hooked – speak to anyone who’s been here and they’ll tell you all about their plans for a return trip.
South America : Places to go
Discover awe-inspiring natural landscapes, ancient wonders, lively cities and unique wildlife on holidays to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador & the Galapagos and Peru.
Buenos Aires is South America’s larger-than-life gateway city and it’s a great place to immerse yourself in local life. In Mendoza’s vineyards, the rich, bold reds are a perfect match for the country’s succulent steak, while in the far south, Los Glaciares National Park is an icy wilderness. On the Argentinian side of Iguazú Falls, you’ll get the closest view of the thundering waters.
Bolivia’s landscapes are nothing short of extraordinary. Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat and a trip to its dazzling white surface feels more like standing on clouds than on Earth. It’s a stark contrast to the dense Amazon rainforest and towering peaks of the Andes. The Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca is also home to more than 150 Inca settlements.
In vibrant Rio, scale the lofty heights of Mount Corcovado to be greeted by the open arms of Christ the Redeemer, find your samba rhythm, and kick back on the beach in Copacabana or Ipanema. Then glide down the mighty Amazon, seek out wildlife in the vast tropical wetlands of the Pantanal or feel the spray of mighty Iguazú Falls.
From the rust-red Atacama Desert in the north – one of the driest places on Earth – to shimmering ice fields in the south, Chile’s landscapes cover a huge spectrum. In the shadow of the Andes, the country’s cosmopolitan capital, Santiago, has become one of the best-loved spots in South America. For added adventure, journey off the west coast to see the mysterious Moai statues on Easter Island.
Colombia has some of the most interesting cities in South America. Bogotá is the country’s high-altitude, high-octane capital; Medellín is a colourful gritty-turned-hipster city with a thriving art scene and plenty of green space, and Cartagena is a coastal colonial-era gem. Away from the cities, rolling hills are home to coffee farms and underrated beaches dot the Caribbean coast.
Straddling the Equator (‘Ecuador’ means ‘Equator’ in Spanish), this small South American country is home to charming UNESCO-listed cities and incredible wildlife. Explore Quito’s Old Town with its cobbled streets, crumbling churches and colonial-era buildings, and visit the ‘Avenue of Volcanoes’ in Cotopaxi National Park. Offshore, cruise the Galapagos to get up close with sea lions, blue-footed boobies, giant tortoises and sun-bathing iguanas.
Whether you trek the multi-day Inca Trail or arrive in luxury on the Belmond-operated Hiram Bingham train, no trip to Peru is complete without a visit to legendary Machu Picchu. You’ll never forget the moment the morning mist clears to reveal the ruins of this mysterious ‘Lost City of the Incas’. Visit Cusco’s archaeological sites and striking churches, and head to Lima for great art, architecture and fusion food.

South America Escorted Tours & Guided Holidays
Escorted tours & guided holidays to south america.
Our guided & escorted tours to South America are nothing short of spectacular. From the Amazon Rainforest to the Andes; samba to salsa, there’s so much about this fascinating continent to be enthralled by. Here’s where you’ll find the mighty Iguazu Falls , on the border of Argentina and Brazil; one of the planet’s most awe-inspiring sights, they make up the largest waterfall system in the world. Now that, surely, is something worth seeing? If you consider yourself a culture and heritage buff, South America has more than enough to keep you entertained; for example, the ‘lost city’ of Machu Picchu is a highlight of any trip to Peru, featuring temples and terraces and amazing views into the lush green Urubamba Valley thousands of feet below. Then there's Chile's scenic wonders, from touring Santiago City to looking out for pink flamingos at Chaxa Lagoon. Wherever you see yourself in touring in Latin America, get ready for the time of your life with a Travelsphere guided tour.
South America holidays cater for travellers of all tastes. Home to some of the most stunning scenery in the world, this is the place to be if you want to fill your photo album with incredible snapshots showcasing both the beauty and raw power of nature. As the ultimate adventure for nature-lovers, island hopping around the Galapagos is a real once-in-a-lifetime experience, although we must admit a cruise through the stunning Sumidero Canyon is also difficult to beat. And of course, if you happen to be a fan of dynamic atmospheres, you really can’t miss the ‘greatest party on earth’ – the spectacular Rio Carnival Winner's Parade . Go on South America tours with Travelsphere and get ready for the time of your life!

Destinations in South America
Argentina is a country like no other. As famous for its tantalising tango music as it is for its beef cattle, escorted tours to Argentina are a great way to discover all this diverse land has to offer. If you love landscapes, Argentina is the place for you; with terrain encompassing the Andes mountains, glacial lakes and vast Pampas grassland, there’s plenty for the avid nature lover to enjoy.
Breath-taking is the only way to describe Brazil. As one of the world’s biggest countries, achieving the right balance between relaxing and exploring can be a challenge here, which is why Brazil touring holidays from Travelsphere are undoubtedly the best way of experiencing a thrilling adventure in this extraordinary part of our planet.
Galapagos Islands
Encompassing Amazon jungle, Andean highlands and the wildlife-rich Galápagos Islands, there is so much Ecuador (and Galapagos!) sightseeing to do with Travelsphere. A good place to begin exploring this stunning South American country is Quito, the capital, known for its largely intact Spanish colonial centre and UNESCO-listed Old Town.
Stretching along South America's western edge, Chile is a long, narrow country; with around 4,300km of Pacific Ocean coastline, nature here is on a colossal scale. Home to the driest desert on Earth as well as vast glacial fields, you’ll feel at home whatever your favourite season. The sheer diversity of landscapes in Chile is astonishing; you’ll encounter parched dunes and fertile valleys as often as you will mighty volcanoes, ancient forests and massive fjords.
Peru is pretty impressive, even if we do say so ourselves. Home to the ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu high in the Andes mountains, it’s easy to feel close to nature here. Peru is a complex country; a mix of sacred sites belonging to ancient civilisations and well-preserved colonial architecture, you really get a sense of heritage everywhere you go.

Travelling to South America at any time of year is a fascinating experience. From Venezuela down to Bolivia including Brazil, the region is really a 'year round' destination, with certain rainy periods in Peru around January-February which can cause heavy mudslides (Explore don't run trips during this time), and in Brazil from December to March, where the Pantanal and the Amazon are particularly wet. July and August are often peak times for people visiting the Galapagos Islands or planning to hike the Inca Trail, due to the Summer holidays, and Easter Celebrations can also be very busy times to visit most countries, but often worthwhile to see the colourful festivities. However, travel from March to November is very rewarding throughout.
The only exception would be in Patagonia , where they enjoy summer during our winter months, and to make the most of its rugged scenery it would be essential to book a holiday to Patagonia between November and March.
What many people don't know about Latin America is that it is a paradise for food lovers. Traditional South American dishes such as Andean ceviche found in Peru, Ecuador and even up into Central America, are becoming much more well-known in the UK. Ceviche is a delicious dish typically made from seafood cured in citrus juices and spiced with chilli, and served with the most traditional Andean staples of 'choclo', or corn, potatoes or plantain.
Travelling down the Andes towards Argentina, we get into beef country. Argentinian wines and steak are a perfect combination, and on Explore tours through Patagonia and Argentina's northwest , we get the chance to sample some of the best beef in the world.
All of this is washed down with a wide array of good local beer and regional spirits – cachaça from Brazil, pisco sours in Chile and Peru, chuflay from Bolivia or Argentina’s famous Malbec wine.
Food is a hugely important part of the culture of any place, and a trip to Latin America with Explore gives us a great chance to learn about their traditions while also sampling some of the local delicacies.

We had an excellent experience with Hi Argentina! Cristian, Belen and team were always available and so flexible with all our queries. The trip itself was excellent and the team were in constant communication before and during our trip. We were able to tailor the trip to our own tastes (ie replacing long bus journeys with quicker plane trips), it was like our very own personalised tour. Thank you Cristian, Belen and team - we had a wonderful time! We definitely recommend this tour with Hi Argentina, you won't be disappointed!

Exploring South America - 13 days
This was an incredible lifetime tour that we really enjoyed. The accommodation in some of the stays was quite poor relative to the lifetime experience that this was. In Machu Picchu the hotel we stayed in had a long power cut when we arrived and then a further long one later in the evening.

Bolivia is my favorite country in South America thanks to Gonzalo and Intrepid Travel! Gonzalo our guide showed the best and brightest the country had to offer. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There is so much more to this country than just the salt flats!!! I was one of ten people on this trip so it was great to have such a small group which made it feel less like a 'tour.' Intrepid has consistently showed me the smallest group size out of any other company i've traveled with which i really appreciate!

Reviews of Small Group tours to South America
I really really enjoyed my trip. Met lots of wonderful people including our exceptional guide, Ilsen and had SO many amazing experiences!! I will definitely be booking with G Adventures again! It really does take all the stress out of travelling and I especially enjoyed having a local guide who taught us so much about the cultures of the countries we were in!
If this is your first time in Peru, this tour is definitely recommended. Sights are amazing, planning and timing are smooth, which is not an easy job considering the extend and logistics in Peru. My Machu Picchu guide Nohemi was exceptionally competent. The tour company Waman adventures is also quite attentive to the specifics of trip.

Middle East latest: 'Systematic and intentional rape' carried out by Hamas, report finds; 'suspicious activity' detected off Yemen
The Association of Rape Crisis Centres in Israel says it has found evidence of Hamas fighters carrying out "systematic and intentional" rape and sexual abuse during the 7 October attacks. Listen to a Daily podcast on the IDF's potential offensive in Rafah as you scroll.

The UK's maritime authority says it has received reports of an explosion and a flash 40 nautical miles off the coast of Yemen's port city of Hodeidah.
Vessels and crew in the vicinity were reported safe, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) added in its advisory note.
Hodeidah, controlled by the Houthi group, is on the coast of the southern Red Sea.
Switzerland has announced it will ban Hamas after the group's attacks in Israel last year.
The ban aims to punish Hamas for the October attacks as well as prevent the group using Switzerland as a safe haven, and makes entry bans or expulsions easier to sort.
The Swiss government said under the new legislation Hamas and "cover or successor organisations" as well as organisations or groups that act on its behalf or in its name would be banned.
Swiss anti-money laundering authorities will also have greater access to information from other countries in a bid to stop terrorist financing.
Two Swiss nationals were among the 1,200 people killed on 7 October when Hamas gunmen launched a cross-border incursion into Israel.
These images show new Houthi recruits in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa protesting against the US, UK and Israel.
Recruits can be seen brandishing guns and waving Yemeni and Palestinian flags, with some walking over the flags of the UK and Israel.
The rebel group, which take over the city in 2014, has vowed to continue to strike British, American and Israeli-flagged or linked vessels in the Red Sea in retaliation for the war in Gaza.
MPs in the Commons are debating a Scottish National Party proposal to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
There will be a vote on the issue this evening.
You can follow all the developments in our dedicated Politics Hub:
The Association of Rape Crisis Centres in Israel says it has found evidence of Hamas fighters carrying out "systematic and intentional" rape and sexual abuse during the 7 October attacks.
In a newly released report, the association said "in some cases, rape was conducted in front of an audience, such as partners, family, or friends, to increase the pain and humiliation for all present".
The report did not specify the number of cases it had documented or identify any victims, even anonymously.
The report's authors claim to have based their research on confidential and public interviews with officials, emergency workers and media reports.
Orit Sulitzeanu, the executive director of the association, said researchers also relied on "confidential sources", but did not say whether authors had spoken to victims directly.
According to the report, the sexual and gender-based violence occurred in four main places - the Nova music festival, communities near the Gaza border, Israeli military bases that were overrun by Hamas and places where hostages were held in Gaza.
Hamas has rejected allegations that its gunmen committed sexual assault.
An Israeli reservist previously told Sky News there was a "systematic genital mutilation" of women as multiple victims were shot in the crotch, breasts and head on that day.
A separate investigation by the Associated Press also found that sexual assault was part of the attacks that day.
The Israeli report has been submitted to the United Nations.
Hamid Abu Ar'ar, who was born in Gaza, has been given permanent residency status in Israel after saving lives during the 7 October Hamas attacks.
The father of nine reportedly put himself in the line of fire to save IDF soldiers during a Hamas ambush.
He made the sacrifice after seeing his wife Fatima killed in front of him by Hamas militants.
Mr Abu Ar'ar did not previously have permanent status in Israel because he was born in Gaza.
Interior minister Moshe Arbel said he made the decision to issue permanent status because "aside from the uncompromising war on terror, we must strengthen those who show loyalty and choose life".
The Israeli High Court of Justice has rejected a petition for it to order national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir be removed from office.
The petition had argued Mr Ben-Gvir's appointment was unreasonable due to his past criminal convictions for incitement to racism and supporting a terror organisation.
The 12th of Heshvan tolerance organisation, together with several individuals, criticised Mr Ben-Gvir's role in maintaining the rule of law and public order while having these past convictions.
But Justice Isaac Amit said that although the minister's appointment was problematic it was not "unreasonable in the extreme".
He added the considerable time since Mr Ben-Gvir was convicted, his relative youth at the time and the fact that he told the court he has since "changed his ways" mitigate against ordering him removed from office.
More now on the strikes in Damascus, Syria.
Iran's semi-official Student News Network has said an alleged Israeli strike on a residential building in the city did not kill any Iranian nationals or advisers.
Several Israeli missiles struck the Kafr Soussa district earlier, Syrian state media said.
Iranian cultural centres are in the neighbourhood, as well as a large complex used by security agencies.
Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack, which killed two people.
A short while ago we gave you updates on the ongoing hearing at the International Court of Justice over Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.
The case was brought by 52 countries which argue Israel should withdraw.
Richard Visek, from the US State Department, offered a different viewpoint just now at the hearing.
He said the ICJ should not find Israel is legally obligated to withdraw from occupied territories immediately.
A call for withdrawal should take into account Israel's "very real security needs", he said.
Earlier we brought you reports of a potential Israeli strike on the Syrian capital Damascus.
We're now hearing at least one more large blast was heard in the city this afternoon local time, according to a Reuters witness and local media.
The witness said the force of the blast shook windows of homes in the capital.
Local Syrian outlet Sham FM said several explosions were heard in the capital.

In the nation’s first federal gender-based hate crime trial, prosecutors allege the defendant wanted to silence the deceased trans woman
During opening statements, a U.S. assistant attorney portrayed Daqua Lameek Ritter as someone working vigilantly to avoid the ridicule he'd face if his secret relationship with the trans woman was exposed.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The first federal trial over a hate crime based on gender identity began Tuesday in South Carolina, where a man faces charges that he killed a Black transgender woman and then fled to New York.
The U.S. Department of Justice alleges that in August 2019, Daqua Lameek Ritter lured the woman — who is referred to as Dime Doe in court documents — into driving to a sparsely populated rural county in South Carolina. Ritter then shot her three times in the head with a .22 caliber handgun after they reached an isolated area near his uncle’s home, according to Ben Garner, an assistant U.S. attorney for the district of South Carolina.
In recent years there has been a surge in attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. For decades, transgender women of color have faced disproportionately high rates of violence and hate crimes, according to the Department of Homeland Security . In 2022, the number of gender identity-based hate crimes reported by the FBI increased by 37% compared to the previous year.
And until 2009, federal hate crime laws did not account for offenses motivated by the victim’s sexual orientation or gender identity. The first conviction involving a victim targeted for their gender identity came in 2017. A Mississippi man received a 49-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal after he admitted to killing a 17-year-old transgender woman.
But Tuesday marks the first time that such a case has ever been brought to trial, according to Brook Andrews, an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of South Carolina. Never before has a federal jury decided whether to convict and further punish someone for a crime based on the victim’s gender identity.
During opening arguments, Garner portrayed Ritter as someone working vigilantly to avoid the ridicule he’d face if his secret relationship was exposed. They’d met during his teenage years when he traveled from his grandmother’s Brooklyn home to visit family property in Allendale, South Carolina. The two had been close friends, according to the defense, and were related through Ritter’s aunt and the woman’s uncle.
But Ritter became “enraged” when he learned that one of Doe’s friends knew about their sexual relationship, according to Garner. Ritter threatened to beat her for sharing that information with anyone — something he had repeatedly instructed her not to do, Garner said.
The government has said that Ritter’s girlfriend learned about the affair between Ritter and Doe in the month before the killing. Prosecutors believe the revelation, which they say prompted Ritter’s girlfriend to hurl a homophobic slur, made Ritter “extremely upset.”
Garner cited text messages purporting to show that Ritter complained to Doe about the mockery less than one week before her death.
“He killed her to silence her,” Garner told the jury.
They say that Ritter lied about his whereabouts in an interview with state police later that day. A “nervous” Ritter walked to his uncle’s house about half a mile away from the crime scene and asked for a ride home, according to Garner. Prosecutors say that Ritter enlisted others to help burn his clothes, hide the weapon and mislead police about his location on the day of the murder.
Ritter is said to have been splitting time between South Carolina, where he had a job and driver’s license, and New York, where he lived with family and was eventually arrested.

Government lawyers plan to present witness testimony about Ritter’s location and text messages with the woman, in which he allegedly persuaded her to take the ride. Evidence includes video footage taken at a traffic stop around 3 p.m. on the day of Doe’s death that shows Ritter’s “distinctive” left wrist tattoo, but not his face, in the passenger seat of her car.
Other evidence includes DNA from the woman’s car and testimony from multiple people who say that Ritter privately confessed to them about the fatal shooting.
Ritter’s lawyers have emphasized that the trial is not about their sexual relationship, but whether Ritter killed Doe. Lindsey Vann, one of the defense attorneys, argued Tuesday that no physical evidence points to Ritter as the perpetrator. Notably, Vann said the State Law Enforcement Division never processed a gunshot residue test that Ritter voluntarily took the day of the killing.
The defense has said it is no surprise that Ritter might have been linked to Doe’s car, considering their intimate ties. Further, Vann said the traffic stop footage could have been taken as early as three hours before her death.
The defense added that witnesses’ claims regarding the disposal of evidence are inconsistent. Vann said Ritter’s friends have given conflicting interviews about details like the alleged burning of Ritter’s clothes while facing the threat of federal prosecution if they failed to cooperate.
Any lies that Ritter told investigators were the result of his deep-seated fear of being considered a suspect and adding more fuel to the local gossip about the relationship, Vann said.
Prosecutors don’t plan to seek the death penalty, but Ritter could receive multiple life sentences if convicted by a jury. In addition to the hate crimes charge, Ritter faces two other counts that he committed murder with a firearm and misled investigators.
