Yerevan Free Walking Tours

Welcome to the first independent free walking tour in Yerevan, Armenia! we’ve been doing this for the 5th year now. YES! The first in the Caucasus Region !

Our Main Tour covers almost all points of interest in the small center of Yerevan ( Pokr Kentron ; the circle on the map), plus detailed info about history, art, cuisine, architecture, cultural and night life, etc. It takes you to back alleys and hidden places as well, lasting around 3 hrs and covering almost 4.5 km . We meet at 4 pm ( 16:00 ) by the entrance to the History Museum on Republic Square.

For the time being, the tour is in English .

We finish the tour in a local bar or restaurant, answer your questions and give you a free copy of Backpackers’ Map of Yerevan and  insider info on where/how to go to other sites and do things in Armenia. Guests can stay longer in the bar for drinks or food if they want to.

As with all free walking tours around the world, it works on tip ping the guide. The travelers don’t pay up ahead and it’s up to them to appreciate the tour and decide how much to give at the end.

We do Alternative Yerevan, Soviet Yerevan and Yerevan Markets walking paid tours. In the summer we do Night Yerevan walking tour and ‘Kenats’ Pub Crawl Yerevan too. Contact us for details.

10th ANNIVERSARY Welcome to the 1st free walking tour in Yerevan! Almost ten years of experience. Our Main Tour is the original first free walking tour of Yerevan. The concept and the itinerary were created by us almost ten years ago and are updated regularly. It covers around 20 points of interest in the small center of Yerevan (Pokr Kentron; the circle on the map), plus detailed info about history, art, food’n’drinks, architecture, religion, language, culture, nightlife, etc. It takes you to the main sites (Republic Square, Northern Ave, Aznavour Square, Opera, Cascades, etc.) as well as to 19th Century typical backyards and hidden places of old Yerevan, telling you the secrets and interesting stories about our 2805-year-young-city. We show you the houses of the descendants of royalty, aristocracy, and the big merchants of Armenia and the South Caucasus. We go to a hip, artsy neighborhood. We give you directions on where to eat, drink, and party in the city. This is a 3-hour walking, standing & talking tour, not suitable for children under 10 and the elderly.

Are you visiting Yerevan and aren't sure where to start? We've got it covered! On our free walking tour of Yerevan, you'll explore the history and main monuments of Armenia's capital. 

At the indicated time, we'll meet in Republic Square . From here, we'll set off on a walking tour to explore the main monuments in Armenia's capital. Let's go!

To begin, our free walking tour of Yerevan will take us to the Congress of Armenia and the  Vernissage open-air market . Here, we'll see all kinds of Armenian handicrafts, from handbags and dolls to rugs and pottery.

Next, we'll visit the Cultural Genocide Park . This site was constructed in remembrance of the destruction caused by Azerbaijan between 1990 and 2003.

Afterwards, we'll stroll through  Andrei Sakharov Square and visit Abovyan Street , the oldest street in Yerevan. Our tour will then take us to the Opera House . From the outside, we'll admire sculptures of some of Armenia's most famous figures, such as  Hovhannes Tumanya , and discuss some fascinating local history.

The last stop on our free tour will be the Cascade , a colossal fountain full of stairs through which the water flows. After 3.5 hours of touring, we'll say our goodbyes next to the Cascade.

On this free tour, we're unable to accept bookings for more than  6 people . If you're in a larger group, we recommend booking a private tour of Yerevan .
