The world hasn’t been the same since the Atlanta, US duo of Big Boi and Andre 3000 came together in 1992 and set about re-writing everything we thought we knew about Hip Hop.

Originally showcasing textbook Southern style on their debut album ‘Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik’ they soon began to show just how broad their influences were. They began to incorporate elements of funk, soul and electronic music on subsequent albums ‘ATLiens’ and ‘Aquemini’ and as their popularity grew it slowly became clear how unlike anything else this duo was.

They became known for their outrageous fashion and general, Funkadelic indebted aesthetic, a clear departure to what many had come to expect from Hip Hop and what many felt were tired “Gangsta” clichés. This all culminated in what has become their finest moment, the release of 2003’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”.

As well as spawning international mega-hit ‘Hey Ya’ the double album showed the increasingly fragmented personality of the act. ‘Speakerboxxx’ became Big Boi’s funky, ATL rap showcase whereas ‘The Love Below’ barely contained any Hip Hop, instead becoming Andre’s own personal RnB/Soul/Funk experiment.

The album sold millions worldwide however it gave clues to the divided nature of the duo’s makeup and in 2007 Outkast announced a Hiatus. The Hip Hop world felt a great sense of loss – the world needed Outkast to continually challenge the status quo and show them that anything is possible.

Thankfully in 2014 at Coachella festival, after years of hushed rumors, the dream came true for many and ‘Dre and Big Boi once again took to the stage. They have now been flying round the world playing a sold out tour and proving something we all worked out during their absence: There’s no one else quite like Outkast.

Live reviews

I literally thought my heart was going to explode. I was so freakin' excited to see Outkast live in concert. I have adored them for years. Their song "Hey Ya" will always hold a special place in my heart. Brings back awesome memories of my college days.

There were a sea of people, such a large crowd. But I was fifth row center and could see the entire stage without any issue. The guys came out in true rare form, which for Outkast is normal for them. We were already hyped up and we erupted in applause. I started to flail my arms around and dance and scream. Pretty certain I was transformed into a total teenage groupie that night!

"Rosa Parks", "Hey Ya", "Roses", "Ms. Jackson", "The Whole World"... Outkast took us back for a while before performing some of their newer stuff. They killed it. And the crowd was just awesome. I've attended other concerts where fear, shyness, or just an uppity attitude prevents people from getting up and really letting loose.

The Outkast fans are a group which supply a no-judgement zone. Everyone and I mean everyone was on their feet. Even saw an elderly woman at the show dancing the entire duration of the concert, even had her an Outkast t-shirt. I loved this concert so much. I just cannot say enough good about it. So hyped. Can't wait to see Outkast again!

OutKast's blend of gritty Southern soul, fluid raps, and the low-slung funk of their Organized Noize production crew epitomized the Atlanta wing of hip-hop's rising force, the Dirty South, during the mid to late '90s. Along with Goodie Mob, OutKast took Southern hip-hop in bold and innovative directions: less reliance on aggression, more positivity and melody, thicker arrangements, and intricate lyrics. After Dré and Big Boi hit number one on the rap charts with their first single, "Player's Ball," the duo embarked on a run of platinum albums spiked with several hit singles, enjoying numerous critical accolades in addition to their commercial success.

André Benjamin (Dré) and Antwan Patton (Big Boi) attended the same high school in the Atlanta borough of East Point, and several lyrical battles made each gain respect for the other's skills. They formed OutKast and were pursued by Organized Noize Productions, hitmakers for TLC and Xscape. Signed to Antonio "L.A." Reid and Babyface's local LaFace label just after high school, OutKast recorded and released "Player's Ball," then watched the single rise to number one on the rap chart. It slipped from the top spot only after six weeks, was certified gold, and created a buzz for a full-length release. That album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, hit the Top 20 in 1994 and was certified platinum by the end of the year. Dré and Big Boi also won Best New Rap Group of the Year at the 1995 Source Awards.

OutKast returned with a new album in 1996, releasing ATLiens that August; it hit number two and went platinum with help from the gold-selling single "Elevators (Me & You)" (number 12 pop, number one rap), as well as the Top 40 title track. Aquemini followed in 1998, also hitting number two and going double platinum. There were no huge hit singles this time around, but critics lavishly praised the album's unified, progressive vision, hailing it as a great leap forward and including it on many year-end polls. Unfortunately, in a somewhat bizarre turn of events, OutKast was sued over the album's lead single, "Rosa Parks," by none other than the civil rights pioneer herself, who claimed that the group had unlawfully appropriated her name to promote their music, also objecting to some of the song's language. The initial court decision dismissed the suit in late 1999. (The Supreme Court later allowed the lawsuit to proceed; the two parties eventually reached a settlement.)

Dré modified his name to André 3000 before the group issued its hotly anticipated fourth album, Stankonia, in late 2000. Riding the momentum of uniformly excellent reviews and the stellar singles "B.O.B." and "Ms. Jackson," Stankonia debuted at number two and went triple platinum in just a few months; meanwhile, "Ms. Jackson" became their first number one pop single the following February. Both of those major singles and most of the album material -- all but three contributions from Organized Noize, in fact -- were produced by a trio dubbed Earthtone III (aka André 3000, Big Boi, and David "Mr. DJ" Sheats).

2003's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, a double album, debuted at number one and spawned a pair of number one singles: the Dré-fronted "Hey Ya" and the Big Boi-fronted "The Way You Move." Speakerboxxx, more true to OutKast's past, could have been issued as a Big Boi solo album, while The Love Below, a diverse and playful affair, could have been an André 3000 release. Regardless of its dual nature, the set won the 2004 Grammy for Album of the Year. As breakup rumors continued to swirl, the duo returned with the feature film Idlewild -- a musical set in the Prohibition-era South -- and an extremely eclectic soundtrack billed as a proper OutKast album. Big Boi issued a solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty in 2010, while André 3000 produced and/or appeared on a series of tracks by the likes of John Legend ("Green Light"), Beyoncé ("Party"), Lloyd ("Dedication to My Ex [Miss That])," and Young Jeezy ("I Do").

2014 sees the duo return for the first time in years. They will be making a number of appearances across the festival circuit in the UK over the summer.

Andre 3000 Brings His Flute Album to Life at ‘New Blue Sun’ Tour’s Opening Night in Brooklyn: Concert Review

By Hillary Crosley Coker

Hillary Crosley Coker

Andre 3000

And that is the album be brought to the stage of Brooklyn’s Crown Hill Theater for the opening date of his tour in support of the album Monday night — resulting in one of the trippiest experiences a rap fan who’s never done ayahuasca could probably have.

Dre took the stage in near darkness, dressed in his trademark striped overalls, sneakers and woven beanie with a little ball on top. As the band oozed out the spacey chords of “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make A ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time,” fans in the packed venue clapped and cheered. Was Andre really the wind instrument devotee “New Blue Sun” presents? Perhaps he’d rap, just for his “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” devotees? Instead 3000 played his flutes, pulling from a gaggle in various lengths on the stage beside him, and pressed pedals to manipulate the sound. The audience let the music wash over them as lights glowed behind the four person-backing band — comprised of Carlos Nino, Nate Mercereau, Deantoni Parks and Surya Botofasina, who were joined later by two special guests.

“How many of y’all can say you turned into a panther one time? I can,” Andre said, with a laugh as the crowd joined his nervous giggles.

Down the aisle, a fan closed her eyes, perhaps to drift off into another world or nap quickly, while another, Emmy-nominated actor J. Alphonse Nicholson from “P Valley,” bobbed his head like he was blasting a brassy Trap track. Still another yelled out “Yeah!” at various ebbs.

Andre broke up the show with stories of meeting Nino in the fancy Los Angeles grocery store, Erewhon, describing his early melodies as “babies” and admitting that he never thought he’d be playing “fucking flutes.”

The performance didn’t really have a set list, the band wanted each performance to stand alone as they riffed on the “ New Blue Sun” tracks. The aural journey flowed into one song that mirrored the madness of the 1971 “ Willy Wonka” sleigh ride and then slowed down with melting orange lights. Sitar sounds and chimes mixed with ethereal keys and swirling yellow and green lights opened the next composition, before another song bubbled up with crickets and birds snickering. Andre spoke to the audience in a language he said he’d created — he said he and his late mother used to chat in it — and it is more about intent than words.

The final track was upbeat, like Dre was practicing his scales amid more animal noises and rising and falling synths. The theater was bathed in calming blue and green lights that gave way to orange, perhaps to wake the audience — because the performance was over.

For a guy who took a massive swing at Mesoamerican music and could’ve missed the mark, Andre received thunderous applause and a partial standing ovation. And for the fans that came to see their favorite rapper play a flute, 3000 thanked them and clarified that one isn’t ever too old to rap, he just hasn’t found an interesting way to say what he wants to say yet .

Maybe breaking the mold means trying something new and then doubling back to familiar ground? Time will tell. The “New Blue Sun” tour continues with residencies in five other cities before concluding in Los Angeles on March 5-9.

OutKast Announces 40-Date Festival Tour

outkast tour dates

OutKast is celebrating 20 years in music in a major way.

The rap duo will headline more than 40 music festival dates around the globe this spring and summer, the Atlanta rappers announced via their official website Monday (Jan. 13).

As previously reported, Big Boi and Andre 3000 will lead  this year's Coachella Music and Arts Festival launching April 11 over two consecutive weekends, followed by the Governors Ball, kicking off at New York's Randall's Island in June.

Additional show dates have yet to be announced.

"It's truly an honor to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do musk the way we choose," Big Boi said in an statement on the OutKast website. "Don't just think outside the box, know that there is no box. I'm looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski and to all the fans — stank you smelly much, this is for ya'll!"

Added Three Stacks, "And imagine all we wanted to do was rap! I am thankful to have been a part of a group that allowed me to explore anything that came to mind and have fun doing it. Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for their 20 years of supporting OutKast."

Given the number of tour dates, OutKast could be preparing fans for a new album, but have not unveiled plans to do so.   The Grammy-winning rap star's Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik  debut was released in April 1994, while their last studio album, Speakerboxx/ The Love Below dropped over a decade ago.

The Black Keys should have UGK and Outkast’s 2007 hit “Int’l Players Anthem” blast through every arena they take the stage on during their forthcoming tour — it would only be fitting. The band has announced the 2024 International Players tour in support of their forthcoming album Ohio Players , out Friday. The International Players tour will run for 31 dates, beginning in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Sept. 17 and wrapping in Detroit, Michigan, on Nov. 12. The Black Keys will make stops in Austin, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Toronto, Nashville, Louisville, New York, Baltimore, Chicago, and more. The band will also perform two hometown shows in Ohio.

General sale for the tour will begin on Friday, April 5 at 10 a.m. local time. Presales will run throughout the week through Live Nation and the official Black Keys website.

About Outkast

Outkast (stylized as OutKast ) were an American hip hop duo formed in 1992 in East Point, Georgia, consisting of Atlanta-based rappers André "3000" Benjamin (formerly known as Dré) and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton. Widely recognized for their intricate lyricism, memorable melodies and positive messages, OutKast is often regarded as one of the greatest and most influential hip hop duos of all time. The duo achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, helping to popularize Southern hip hop while experimenting with diverse genres such as funk, psychedelia, jazz, and techno.

Benjamin and Patton formed the group as high school students in 1992. Outkast released their debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik in 1994, which gained popularity after the single "Player's Ball" reached number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart. With successive releases including ATLiens (1996) and Aquemini (1998), the duo further developed their sound, experimenting with a variety of styles and achieving commercial success. In 2000, Outkast released the critically acclaimed Stankonia , which included the singles "Ms. Jackson" and "B.O.B."

In September 2003, the duo released the double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below , which featured the number one singles "Hey Ya!" and "The Way You Move." The album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America. Outkast next released the soundtrack for the 2006 musical film Idlewild , which they also starred in. In 2007, the duo went on hiatus and both members have since pursued solo careers. In 2014, Outkast reunited to celebrate their 20th anniversary by performing at more than 40 festivals worldwide, beginning at the Coachella Festival in April.

The duo is one of the most successful hip hop groups of all time, having received six Grammy Awards. Rolling Stone ranked them No. 7 on its list of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time. Between six studio albums and a greatest hits release, Outkast has sold over 25 million records. [ citation needed ] Meanwhile, they have garnered widespread critical acclaim, with publications such as Rolling Stone and Pitchfork Media listing albums such as Aquemini and Stankonia among the best of their era.

‘Margaux Simmons was like my Alice Coltrane’ … (L-R) Simmons and Idris Ackamoor.

‘The spirits of my ancestors empower me’: jazz great Idris Ackamoor on Afrofuturism, activism and André 3000

A musical seeker since childhood, the 73-year-old’s journeys have taken him from lessons with Cecil Taylor to a formative tour of Africa and now work with the Outkast star. He explains why he’s still chasing the next chapter

T he greatest music by spiritual jazz maestro and acclaimed saxophonist Idris Ackamoor suggests a swirling symbiosis between the living and the dead. Take his 2020 song When Will I See You Again?, in which his unfeigned croak of the words “we’ll all be fine” suggests that the “freak storms” of sudden loss will ultimately be replaced by rainbows. Or there’s the more chaotic and wordless Sheba’s Dance Part 2 from 1973. It sounds like Crosstown Traffic played by a revolutionary African tribe, and a flute whistles into the abyss like a shaman hoping to awaken lost ancient spirits. It makes sense that the first instrument the 73-year-old musician ever learned to play was something that carried a link to his ancestors.

“My grandma Mary used to do the laundry for a white family, and they had this old piano that no one ever played,” Ackamoor says, reflecting on a childhood spent largely on the south side of Chicago, where racial segregation was prominent. “The family donated it to my grandma and it was later handed down to me as a seven-year-old. I always have real reverence for my ancestors: whenever I play music, I try to connect to their spirits. I want them to empower me.”

Ackamoor’s music also suggests a dialogue between legacy and innovation. He is a figurehead of the Afrofuturism movement thanks to the way his music merges ancient African instrumentation with a sweaty Oakland funk sensibility to uncover fresh truths about race, lust, death, the environment and our future. Audiences don’t tend to forget about the explosive live shows he gives with his band the Pyramids. Ackamoor not only sings and plays, he tap dances too: DJ Gilles Peterson called their gigs “complete fire”. (Although Ackamoor remains vigorous, undisclosed health issues meant that a planned UK show and other dates were cancelled subsequent to this interview.)

Last year Ackamoor and the Pyramids released Afro Futuristic Dreams: created with a 14-piece band, it turned lyrics about racist policing and fatal chokeholds into galvanising, Fela Kuti-honouring dances of defiance on Police Dem, shifted the ritual of prayer into a bouncing 3am intergalactic groove on Thank You God, and offered up shapeshifting psychedelia on First Peoples. “It might just be my best album,” says Ackamoor, speaking over the phone from his home in San Francisco. “It really shows off me being a composer.”

The wedding of Idris Ackamoor and Margaux Simmons in Lake Ivanhoe, Wisconsin, 1973.

The album reaches back five decades to the techniques he learned on a formative tour of Africa in 1973. A mentee of pivotal jazz and blues musicians including Cecil Taylor, Clifford King and Jimmie Lunceford at Antioch College, Ackamoor found his sound during a “trip of a lifetime” touring the continent alongside fellow students Kimathi Asante and flautist Margaux Simmons. The trip cemented Ackamoor and Simmons’ budding romance, culminating in a new band called the Pyramids.

Playing in Ghana, in particular, transformed how Ackamoor looked at music. “We stayed there for three months, just engulfed by the serenity of Ghana,” Ackamoor says, still sounding giddy at the memory. “Going to northern Ghana was a spiritual journey and like moving back 500 years. We played with the king’s drummers in Tamale and we also played music in prayer circles with the Frafra people in Bolgatanga.” He also collected instruments on this trip, whether “the Ethiopian masenqo or the Nigerian goje, which is a one-string fiddle. I learned them all! The African music really felt like it was coming from another planet.”

When he returned to the US, the Pyramids sold albums including Lalibela and Birth / Speed / Merging out of car boots, having struggled to attract the attention of any labels despite growing word-of-mouth buzz from their live shows around Ohio. The music on these records was an obvious extension of the trip’s experiences. On Indigo Suite Part One, the muscular instrumentation sounds like lions groaning one second and war sirens the next; the multi-part Black Man and Woman of the Nile runs on heart-in-mouth drums and evokes a sweltering romance. Ackamoor pressed barely 1,000 copies of these albums apiece – refusing to “play the game”, as his modern label boss Quinton Scott has put it – but to those who were hip, the music felt like stepping into the future: their live shows inadvertently mirrored the communal carnival feel of Sun Ra’s performances, which Ackamoor wouldn’t personally experience until later.

By 1977 the Pyramids had split, fuelled by the breakdown of Ackamoor and Simmons’ relationship (although they have remained close friends and collaborators and share a daughter born in 1975) as well as each member’s desire to embrace new sounds outside the band dynamic. “Margaux Simmons was like my Alice Coltrane,” Ackamoor reflects. “She was my Jean Carne. Our partnership, which really started in Africa, has been through a lot of up and downs. But it’s beautiful that 50 years later, we can still play music together.”

Idris Ackamoor and the Pyramids performing at Le Guess Who festival in 2022.

The Pyramids were apart for 30 years, during which time Ackamoor’s legacy only grew. He continued to turn studies of his surroundings into unique compositions, releasing an Afro-fusion ode to Cuba’s distinctive pink housing. He also formed the Cultural Odyssey theatre collective alongside his partner Rhodessa Jones, which mentors working-class artists, and through the Medea Project which aims to support the artistry of women who have experienced the effects of incarceration and HIV/Aids.

In 2007, Ackamoor reunited the Pyramids, prompted by what he saw as the need to reaffirm jazz and soul’s African heritage. “That is one of the things Cecil [Taylor] taught me!” he says. “The timeline continuum. From the blues to New Orleans to Michael Jackson to Prince to rap music and its use of bass: all of this has its roots in Africa.” The band centred Afrofuturism in 2016’s We All Be Africans and 2018’s An Angel Fell, as well as Afro Futuristic Dreams. “If you look at the Dogon people in Africa, they were the first astrologers and located star systems before the scientists did,” says Ackamoor. “The Griots were chroniclers of African history and they channelled human behaviour. They were a musical vessel to commentate on what was happening in the world and they would transfer dark into light. That’s me, too.”

after newsletter promotion

Recently, André 3000 and jazz percussionist Carlos Niño drew on Ackamoor’s role in that lineage when they asked him to join the backing band for the Outkast star’s San Francisco show in support of his flute-based album, New Blue Sun. “It was one of the most inspirational things to be recognised,” says Ackamoor. “The start of a new chapter.” Ackamoor is also at work on a theatrical production that features spoken-word monologues by actor Danny Glover, as well as a new song called Now, which Ackamoor is so excited by that he starts spontaneously singing it down the phone: “Live your life, live your life now! / Stop all hate, stop all hate now! / Look into yourself and you will see / A temple that is pure and so holy.” He immediately relates them to “what is happening to Gaza right now – to quote Cornel West: the bestiality of human nature is being shown! My new songs are about finding peace and stopping all this hate.”

My favourite Idris Ackamoor song is Sunset , from 2018, which serves as both a celebration and eulogy for our natural world. Written while Ackamoor was dipping his toes in the water during a trip to Jamaica, every note is an attempt to channel the transcendence of a sunset’s glow. He took the moment as “a sign from the gods to save our world! I thought, we’ve got to save all this beauty for my granddaughter before it is too late. If you look around, there’s environmental signs everywhere. They’re like prayers to save our world. You just have to answer them.”

Ackamoor figured out the lessons that were worth heeding a long time ago. As our call winds down, he recalls a strict music teacher who would beat his fingers with a pencil if 12-year-old Ackamoor played the wrong notes in class. “Ever since that teacher did that, I’ve been revolting against the strict musical regiment,” he says. “For me, there’s no right way to play music. I will always keep my ears open. That’s how you stay young. The energy inside my music means I can live on for ever. I believe we’re all like stardust: we don’t die, we just start again.”

Missy Elliott announces tour with Ciara, Busta Rhymes and Timbaland — how to get tickets

Missy Elliott's first time headlining a tour will be with people who have been a part of her music since the beginning of her career.

The famed rapper announced her "Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience" tour on social media April 8 and shared that singer Ciara, rapper Busta Rhymes and producer Timbaland will be on the road with her. They have collaborated with Elliott on songs throughout her career.

"ATTENTION IT’S TIME," her caption read. The post was a video featuring Elliott, Ciara and Busta Rhymes in an intergalactic space as they try to figure out where they are. Elliott then calls who she refers to as Tim, most likely Timbaland, for help.

"These three icons come together to show you something you've never seen before," Elliott says in the video.

“'OUT OF THIS WORLD'TOUR across NORTH AMERICA!!!! With my family @ciara @bustarhymes & @timbaland This Spaceship will be Landing NEAR YOU RUN 4 COVER!" she added in the caption.

Elliott said in a press release announcing the news that she's in a season of firsts, even in this advanced stage of her career. She has released six albums and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. She also holds an honorary doctorate in music degree from Berklee College of Music.

“This is an incredible time in my life as I am experiencing so many milestone ‘firsts,’” she said. “Being the FIRST female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and now going out on my FIRST headline tour."

She said there's been fan interest in her going on tour for some time, but she waited until it felt right to her.

"Fans have been asking me to tour forever but I wanted to wait until I felt the time was right because I knew if I was ever going to do it, I had to do it big, and I had to do it with family! So get ready to be taken OUT OF THIS WORLD with me, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timbaland! We can’t wait to share this experience with the fans!" she said.

Missy Elliott Announces Dates For First-Ever Headlining Tour, Featuring Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Timbaland

More than three decades into her storied career, Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott is gearing up for her first-ever headlining tour. On Monday morning (April 8) the "Work It" rapper announced the dates for her Out of This World – The Missy Elliott Experience 2024 North American arena tour, which is slated to kick off on on July 4 in Vancouver at Rogers Arena, and include stops in Seattle, Oakland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Houston, Tampa, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn and Detroit before winding down on August 22 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.

The summer outing will feature support from Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Elliott's longtime musical partner producer Timbaland. The poster for the tour features Missy, Busta and Ciara dressed in Mad Max -style futuristic leather outfits standing in front of a giant space ship.

"This is an incredible time in my life as I am experiencing so many milestone ‘firsts.' Being the FIRST female Hip Hop artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and now going out on my FIRST headline tour," Elliott said in a statement about the 24-city tour co-produced by Live Nation and Elliott's longtime manager Mona Scott-Young. We can't wait to share this experience with the fans!"

In keeping with Elliott's legendarily out-there music videos, the tour announce was accompanied by a short teaser video helmed by another one of Missy's frequent collaborators, director Dave Meyers. "In 2024, these three icons come together to show you something you've never seen before," Elliott says in voiceover in the clip in which she, Busta and Ciara emerge from the spacecraft.

"Something not right," Elliott says at one point as the shoot is interrupted by confusion. "This is not Earth!" That leads to Busta busting out a paper celestial map only to discover that he took a "wrong turn" at Mars, a revelation that makes Ciara short of breath. Missy then calls Timbaland on her old school brick cell phone to complain about Busta's terrible sense of space direction.

In an additional statement about her client's first-ever headlining tour, Scott-Young said, "Missy has always been an iconic groundbreaker and continuously pushes herself to be bolder and go where she has never been before – and surprisingly, one of those places is headlining her own tour! For decades, fans and peers worldwide have clamored for Missy to tour and they're finally going to get what they've been asking for as she teams up with Ciara, Busta, and longtime partner-in-rhyme Timbaland, to deliver a start-to-finish, nonstop, high-octane, OUT OF THIS WORLD concert experience. This will be one for the books, so trust me, you don't want to miss it!"

Tickets for the tour will go on sale first through a Verizon presale that kicks off on Tuesday (April 9) beginning at 10 a.m. local time through Thursday (April 11) at 10 p.m. local time; click here for more details. Following additional presales throughout the week, the general onsale for the tour will begin on Friday (April 12) at 10 a.m. local time here .

Missy Elliott Is Going ‘Out Of This World’ For Her 2024 Tour With Busta Rhymes, Ciara, And Timbaland

Aaron Williams

It’s utterly bonkers to think that this is the case but, despite Missy Eliott ‘s status as one of the undisputed GOATs of the rap world, the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee has not had her own headlining tour in nearly two decades. That’s about to change, though, as the Virginia Beach legend has just announced her first-ever headlining tour, Out Of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience , which kicks off on Independence Day and will be supported by fellow groundbreaker Busta Rhymes (replacing his canceled Blockbusta Tour ), frequent collaborator Ciara , and of course, her longtime production partner Timbaland .

A presale for Verizon subscribers begins Tuesday, April 9, with additional presales throughout the week. The general sale starts on Friday, April 12, at 10 am local time. You can get more information at missy-elliott.com . See below for the full tour dates.
