De’Vondre Campbell Takes Shot At Green Bay Staff
It seems De’Vondre Campbell has joined the ever growing list of disgruntled former Green Bay Packers.
“Someone is about to get a great football player that’s been badly misused,” Campbell posted on his social media shortly after being released from the team and his 5 year $50 million dollar deal.
His latest words come just a few months after his last outburst is which he seemingly accused the organization of not showing him the same respect he had shown them.
“Not going out my way anymore and I’m not playing through injuries anymore cause when s*** goes wrong they always use it against you.” Campbell said on social. “I’m treating everyone accordingly and giving them the same energy they giving me. Focus on yourself and your mental 59 you owe it to yourself.” Immediately following that incident, Campbell was inactive in weeks 16 and 17 and then sparsely used in the playoffs.
As Campbell assumes his new role with the San Francisco 49ers there are two ways fans can view Campbell’s recent words.
One, this is just another player who, perhaps justifiably, is taking issue with the business side of football. And when it comes to that side, the Packers are usually on the harsher end of the spectrum. Aaron Rodgers , Davante Adams , Aaron Jones , and many others have all received some version of similar treatment on their way out the door. Even the most diehard Packers fans can admit that the organization is a little rough around the edges as its formerly important players leave. But that’s football. The Packers gave him a big deal, he was often inured and underperformed…story over.
Or two, Campbell has an extra amount of validity in his criticisms. When talking about his misuse he’s likely discussing the same villain that every Packers fan his fumed about over the last few years, Joe Barry.
While it’s true that Campbell had had a pretty unremarkable career leading up to his arrival in Green Bay, much of that he attributed to not being allowed to focus on a sole position with any of his previous teams. After his all-pro season in 2021, he told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic that he owed most of his success to that opportunity. “I was like, the only way I will come is if you let me do this and only this. I don’t want play SAM, MIKE and WILL … I had one job responsibility here that allowed me to excel week-in and week-out rather than going into a game plan where you’re playing three or four different positions,” he told Schneidman.
It appears as Barry was struggling to find a way to call his defense that opportunity changed.
You could easily look at it and say that Green Bay made Campbell who he was, but his new situation in San Francisco will tell the real tale. If his play resumes to a high level it will be another pile of blame to heap on Joe Barry’s already overfilled failure wagon.
Perhaps the real takeaway here should be that it’s time to start holding Matt Lafleur more accountable for his coaching staff. This is a team that is poised to be potentially very special over the next few seasons, and if Jeff Hafley or any other coach on the roster isn’t getting the most out of his players, and it becomes as apparent as it was with Joe Barry, we shouldn’t have to wait multiple years for the head coach to finally make a decision.
The Packers' First Steps In Free Agency Have Clarified Their Draft Strategy
Fans and pundits can spin up as many mock drafts as they like, but until free agency happens, the mock drafts are mostly guesswork. With the start […]

New Photograph of Kate Middleton and Her Children Recalled by Major Picture Agencies
The photograph was just released this morning by Kensington Palace.
Update 3/11/2024:
Original: When Kensington Palace released a photograph of Kate Middleton and her three children this morning it was clearly intended to send a positive message about her recovery following weeks out of the spotlight.
However, within 12 hours, mystery surrounded the new image as major picture agencies took the astonishing step of recalling it, with one claiming it appears to have been manipulated.
Picture agencies Associated Press, Associated Foreign Press, Reuters and Getty have all made the image of Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Princess Louis unavailable. The agencies have cited an "editorial issue" and "post-publication review" amongst the reasons. Agency Associated Press issued the most detailed description, saying that "at closer inspection it appears that the source has manipulated the image. No replacement will be sent." All of the agency kill notifications were posted online by ITV's Royal Editor Chris Ship.
The astonishing and unprecedented move came after hours of speculation online that the image had been photoshopped. One of the issues most pointed out was that Princess Charlotte's left sleeve appeared out of line with her hand.
Kensington Palace has not commented on the furor, but the image remains live on their social channels where they released it at 9 a.m. along with a personal message from Kate. The picture is the first time that she has been seen officially since undergoing abdominal surgery on January 16. Last week, a paparazzi picture showed her in a car alongside her mother Carole.
Social media has gone into overdrive in recent weeks when it comes to speculation on Kate as she recovers from major surgery . This evening it was very clear that this latest development has made things worse as people took to X to discuss the recalling of the images.
Journalist Catherine Mayer, who has written a book on Prince Charles, posted, "Extraordinary how everything the royal comms team does to dampen speculation increases it." And royal reporter Richard Palmer described it as a "real controversy."
Town & Country Contributing Editor Victoria Murphy has reported on the British Royal Family since 2010. She has interviewed Prince Harry and has travelled the world covering several royal tours. She is a frequent contributor to Good Morning America. Victoria authored Town & Country book The Queen: A Life in Pictures , released in 2021.

Where is Princess Kate? Timeline of what to know about the royal amid surgery, photo drama
Princess Kate is raising royal questions about personal health and privacy.
The Princess of Wales first fueled rumors surrounding her royal role in January, when the palace announced she underwent abdominal surgery. At the time, she asked for privacy about her health and expressed through the palace that she was "unlikely" to return to work until after the Easter holiday in late March.
Conspiracy theories and internet speculation have complicated Princess Kate's pause from public life as the media and royal onlookers fuel more conversations about one of the family's most popular members. Here's what we know about Princess Kate's whereabouts, from her last public appearance to her controversial Mother's Day photo .
Christmas Day 2023: Last seen during holiday services with fellow royal family members
Princess Kate last official appearance in her royal duties occurred during the family's annual Christmas services at St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham in Norfolk, England, where she appeared in a chic all blue outfit with husband Prince William and their children, Prince George , 10; Princess Charlotte , 8; and Prince Louis , 5. Other star royal family members made appearances with King Charles III , Queen Camilla and Duchess of York Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson .

Jan. 17, 2024: Kensington Palace announces 'successful' surgery
On Jan. 17, Kensington Palace announced that Kate underwent a "successful" surgery on Jan. 16 and was expected to remain hospitalized for 10 to 14 days.
Kate asked for privacy amid her recovery. "She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private," the palace said .
"Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter," according to the statement, which falls on the calendar this year on Sunday, March 31.
Late January 2024: Princess Kate returns home for recovery
The Princess of Wales , 42, returned to the royal's home in Windsor to continue her abdominal surgery recovery. "She is making good progress," Kensington Palace said in a statement at the time.
"The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided," the statement continued. "The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."
Late February: Kensington Palace pushes back against speculation surrounding Princess of Wales
After fiery speculation about Princess Kate 's public absence reached a fever pitch, Kensington Palace stepped in to squash the theories.
Catherine, Princess of Wales , is "doing well," a spokesperson for the royal told People and ABC News in a statement. "We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant," the statement continued.
March 10, 2024: Princess of Wales marks first official return to Instagram
In the first official photo released since the Princess of Wales' abdominal surgery announcement in January, the family thanked their supporters on their Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account.
"Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day," the caption read , in celebration of the U.K. holiday. In the photo snapped by Prince William , 41, Kate was seated in a chair as the three couple's children were embraced by their mother.
March 11, 2024: Princess Kate apologizes for 'editing' photo, agencies remove picture for 'manipulation'
One day after posting the Mother's Day portrait, Princess Kate apologized after the photo was removed from use by several major photo agencies.
Several major photo agencies pulled an image of the Princess of Wales that she shared on Instagram Sunday . The Associated Press, AFP and Reuters issued kill notifications shortly after the family photo was published — showing Kate seated on a chair and surrounded by her children, Prince George , 10, Princess Charlotte , 8, and Prince Louis , 5 — due to "manipulation."

In a Monday morning post from the Prince and Princess of Wales accounts on X, the princess apologized and said the confusion over the photo was due to her editing.
"Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing," the post reads. "I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C."

Kathy Hilton 's finally giving insight into her family's feud with Mauricio Umansky ... accusing Kyle Richards ' estranged husband of shadiness when he left their family biz to launch his own.
The Hilton matriarch spilled it all during Wednesday's 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' reunion ... where she claimed her brother-in-law exited Hilton & Hyland -- her husband Rick Hilton 's real estate biz -- with only a day's notice, and poached their staff too.
As Kathy put it, Rick had no problem with Mauricio leaving to do his own thing -- but only asked that he not take any employees with him ... a request she claims he ignored!
All was not hunky dory in the aftermath ... with Kathy even admitting that things were "funky" between herself and Kyle for some time.
It appears the Hilton family is far more willing to share their truth amid Kyle's separation from The Agency founder.
Remember, Paris Hilton came to her dad's defense after Mauricio attempted to paint a different picture about his fallout with the Hiltons in a teaser clip for Netflix's season 2 of "Buying Beverly Hills."
Mauricio Umansky reveals — for the first time — what led to the Hilton feud and the creation of The Agency. Buying Beverly Hills Season 2 premieres March 22 pic.twitter.com/zSd3PUw3mp — Netflix (@netflix) March 12, 2024 @netflix
While Mauricio claimed he "got kind of f***ed by Hilton & Hyland" ... Paris hit back on Instagram Tuesday -- accusing her uncle of using her family's name to plug his reality TV career.
She torched him for going public with a private family matter, and added ... "It is enough already."
Despite her separation from Mauricio, Kyle still seems to be in her estranged hubby's corner. During the reunion, Kyle defended Mauricio for taking some Hilton & Hyland staffers when he bolted ... before shutting down the topic altogether.
The Hiltons might forgive, but they're not forgetting when it comes to Mauricio.

UTC staff recommends $252,000 fine for CenturyLink over long wait times, lack of documents
M ar. 14—Staff at the Washington state Utilities and Transportation Commission have announced proposed fines against CenturyLink over violations regarding response times and providing documentation to the UTC.
UTC staff recommend fining CenturyLink $252,000 for the violations. CenturyLink is part of Lumen Technologies and is the largest local telephone company in Washington.
According to the release, UTC staff found through an investigation that the communications company violated commission rules by not connecting customers with a live representative within 60 seconds from the time the caller asked to speak to a live representative.
CenturyLink committed nine violations of this rule from March 2022 to November 2022, according to the release.
Staff also found the company failed to provide documentation the UTC requested within 10 business days of the request. Staff found CenturyLink committed 234 of these violations from March 2023 to February 2024.
UTC staff discovered the violations after receiving several complaints from CenturyLink customers, according to the release.
Staff are asking the commission to assess CenturyLink a penalty of $1,000 for each violation of documentation requests, as well as $1,000 per violation of customer service response times, which equals the total amount of $252,000.
The three-member UTC will consider its staff's recommendation at a prehearing conference to establish a schedule to review the complaint on April 8.

Middle East latest: Explosion in Red Sea near Yemen; Biden backs US leader who said Netanyahu must go
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations has said a vessel has reported an explosion 65 nautical miles west of Yemen's Hodeidah. Meanwhile, Joe Biden has backed the US Senate leader who said the Israeli PM was an obstacle to peace and must go.

We'll be back soon with all the latest updates on the Israel-Hamas war.
The families of hostages in Gaza have been marching in Tel Aviv today to call on the Israeli government to agree to a ceasefire deal.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been criticised by the families for prolonging the war instead of negotiating a deal.
Further to reports we brought you earlier of an incident 65 nautical miles west of Yemen's Hodeidah (see post at 8.48pm) we are now receiving more information.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has said the master of a merchant vessel reported an explosion a distance off the vessel's starboard beam.
"There is no damage to the vessel and the crew are reported safe. The vessel is continuing to its next port of call," UKMTO added in an advisory note.
Months of Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have disrupted global shipping, forcing firms to re-route to longer and more expensive journeys around southern Africa, and stoked fears that the Israel-Hamas war could spread to destabilise the wider Middle East.
The US and Britain have carried out strikes against Houthi targets in response to the attacks on shipping.
Back to the offloading of aid in Gaza now and the World Central Kitchen has shared a video of cargo being offloaded.
The US-based aid organisation said almost 200 tonnes of rice, flour, proteins and more "arrived by sea earlier today".
It has said a second vessel is preparing to set sail from Cyprus with "hundreds more tonnes of food".
The UK Maritime Trade Operations has said it has received a report of an incident 65 nautical miles west of Yemen's Hodeidah.
Authorities are investigating the incident, the UKMTO said.
Today we have been reporting on Israel's approval of a potential ground operation on the Gaza city of Rafah.
But global allies and critics alike have urged Benjamin Netanyahu to hold off attacking Rafah, for fear of mass civilian casualties.
Looking at the move, our military analyst Sean Bell has said the region is "packed" and "dense".
"How an earth you can do a military operation and differentiate between where Hamas are, where the civilians are and even where the hostages are? It would be a nightmare," he said.
"And if they were to do airstrikes, which has been part of what the IDF have been using, it would have devastating consequences for the people on the ground."
You can watch Bell's full analysis here...
The White House has expressed cautious optimism about a proposal from Hamas on a Gaza ceasefire-for-hostages deal.
The proposal has been presented to mediators and the US and includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, 100 of whom are serving live sentences.
White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said the proposal was "certainly within the bounds in broad brush strokes... of the deal we've been working on now for several months".
"We're cautiously optimistic that things are moving in the right direction but that doesn't mean that it's done," Mr Kirby said.
After Israel approved plans for a Rafah military operation, our Middle East correspondent Alistair Bunkall has said it is unlikely that a operation will happen imminently.
He said the Israelis have "always been clear" about their military operation in Rafah and argued they need to do that in order to dismantle Hamas's infrastructure and gain a victory.
"They have never wavered from that," he said.
"The Israeli military have been drawing up plans about how that would work and how they would evacuate the people who are now in Rafah."
But Bunkall noted this is "not going to be a simple task".
He added: "It may be a credible plan in America's eyes but it will be difficult to implement.
"I think it will take time so I don't think we are looking at an imminent ground invasion of Rafah."
He went on to say the announcement of a ground operation in Rafah was Israel's way of showing "they are going to keep military pressure up".
As detailed here earlier, reports in Israel suggest Benjamin Netanyahu has approved plans for military operation in Rafah, where more than one million people in Gaza have fled after being previously ordered to do so by Israeli authorities.
The plan would reportedly include people being evacuated from Rafah itself, despite large swathes of the enclave having been devastated by Israeli bombardments.
While Germany has been largely supportive of Israel throughout its military operations since 7 October, it's foreign minister issued a warning following the latest reported development.
"A large-scale offensive in Rafah cannot be justified," Annalena Baerbock said.
"Over a million people have sought refuge there and have nowhere to go.
"We need a humanitarian ceasefire now, so that the dying ends and the hostages are finally released."
It comes after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Washington had not yet seen a clear and implementable plan for how civilians would be protected in the event of an Israeli offensive in Rafah.
The IDF has issued an update on the aid ship from Cyprus, which in the last few hours arrived in Gaza.
They said the ship contained 130 pallets of humanitarian equipment and 115 tonnes of food and water, which were transferred to 12 World Central Kitchen trucks and accompanied by IDF naval and ground forces.
"The vessels and goods underwent comprehensive security inspection," the IDF added.
They also emphasised that "the delivery of humanitarian aid does not affect the maritime blockade".

United Airlines Boeing plane loses external panel in flight
FAA investigating loss of panel before Boeing 737-800 landed safely in Oregon
The US Federal Aviation Administration is investigating how a United Airlines Boeing 737-800 lost an external panel before landing safely in Oregon.
United flight 433 landed at Medford airport at about 1.45pm on Friday carrying 139 passengers and six crew after departing from San Francisco, the FAA and airline said.
The FAA said a post-landing airline inspection of the 25-year-old plane revealed a missing panel. United said it would also investigate. It said no emergency had been declared because there was no indication of the damage during flight.
“We’ll conduct a thorough examination of the plane and perform all the needed repairs before it returns to service,” the airline said.
Boeing did not comment, directing questions to United Airlines.
FAA records show the plane was built in late 1998. The Rogue Valley Times posted a photo of the plane with the missing panel. Traffic was briefly halted at the airport to search for it.
US flight incidents are getting more attention after a door plug blew off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 in mid-air . Boeing has been under heavy regulatory scrutiny since the 5 January incident, with investigations under way into the company’s safety and quality standards in its production process.
Last week a United Airlines-operated Boeing 737 MAX rolled off the runway in Houston, prompting investigations; and a United-operated Boeing 777-200 bound for Japan lost a tyre after takeoff from San Francisco and was diverted to Los Angeles where it landed safely.
A United Boeing 737 bound for Florida from Houston on 4 March returned to the airport shortly after takeoff because the engine had taken in plastic bubble wrap that was on the airfield before departure. Social media posts showed flames coming out of the engine.

Justin Fields traded to Steelers live updates: Reaction as Bears deal QB, latest NFL free agency news
14 New Updates
Bears trading Justin Fields to Steelers: Source
The Chicago Bears have traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers , a league source confirmed. The Bears will recieve a 2025 sixth-round pick that goes to a fourth-round pick based on playing time, a team source confirmed.
Pittsburgh will now enter 2024 with Fields and Russell Wilson as its quarterbacks.
Chicago holds the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and is expected to draft a quarterback.
The news comes a day after the Steelers traded quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles as part of a pick swap.
More to come.

How the Kenny Pickett era fizzled in Pittsburgh
Kenny Pickett was all smiles outside the visitors locker room at Lumen Field on Dec. 31st in Seattle as he posed for a photo with hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
It was some game, really. The Steelers had just beaten the Seahawks, 30-23. Pittsburgh ran its winning streak to two games to keep its faint postseason hopes alive. But as Najee Harris went Beast Mode with Marshawn Lynch in attendance, Pickett was a mere spectator that day.
Though Pickett was 27 days removed from a TightRope procedure — which typically comes with a four-week recovery window — on his injured ankle, coach Mike Tomlin had decided to ride the hot hand by starting Mason Rudolph for a second consecutive week. Pickett watched from the sideline in street clothes. Reports emerged that Pickett had refused to dress as the backup, which he later denied. (Tomlin would continue to start Rudolph in the season finale and later in the first round of the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills.)
As it turned out, that quiet benching for the New Year’s Eve game became the first indication that the Steelers were charting a new path at quarterback.
On Friday, shortly after introducing Russell Wilson as the newest Steeler, the team profoundly shook up its quarterback room and eliminated any speculation about who would start Week 1. In a surprise move, general manager Omar Khan dealt Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a modest return. The Steelers gave up a fourth-round pick (No. 120) and Pickett in exchange for a third-round pick (No. 98) and a pair of 2025 seventh-round picks. It illustrated how much Pickett’s stock had fallen: from the 20th pick in 2022 to a mid-round pick swap in 2024.

Lessons learned from Aaron Donald, greatness personified
I remember this like it happened just yesterday.
It was my first week of Los Angeles Rams practice in 2020 — really, a first week back for many after COVID-19 lockdowns, but for me it also was my first real week on the beat.
Of course I wanted to see Aaron Donald in person. He was already a legend many times over who was whispered about in awed tones in other NFL buildings I’d covered. I had already heard plenty of gripes about how long it took to game plan for him. A coach tipped me off: Spend your first days watching him practice. If I did that, I’d understand everything there was to know about Aaron, and so too what the Rams were all about.
So I stood behind the hit sled as defensive line drills began. He was smaller than I thought — mythological beings usually are, when you meet them — and as he took his stance in the lead spot of the drilling line, I held my phone up and started to record. Thud. Thud. Donald didn’t hit the sled, that’s not the right way to describe it. He assessed its physics with fluid, assertive movements. In his hands, the sled wasn’t a sled. It was a tool, and also it was doomed.
Suddenly, he flicked his arms and wrists to swipe across the pad and he burst to the side of the drill. Watching my video later, I laughed. He moved too fast, my camera pan was too slow.
I did learn what I needed to know about Donald while watching practice that day, and every single day for the next four seasons.
He announced his retirement Friday morning, a bittersweet moment because he is at peace with his choice and we are selfish.

Broncos add LB Cody Barton
(Photo: Getty Images)
The Broncos are signing veteran linebacker Cody Barton, his agent announced in a social media post.
Barton, who is signing a one-year deal, last season played for the Washington Commanders. His four seasons before that were spent playing with the Seattle Seahawks, who selected him in the third round of the 2019 draft out of the University of Utah.
Barton, 27, was a rotational player during his first three seasons with the Seahawks, but he started 11 of the 17 games he played in 2022 and finished with a career-high 136 tackles. He followed that up with 121 tackles last season for the Commanders. He has been highly durable in his career, playing in 78 of a possible 82 games.
Barton could step into the starting role next to Alex Singleton. That job was vacated by Josey Jewell, who signed a three-year contract with the Panthers as an unrestricted free agent this week. The Broncos also re-signed Jonas Griffith, who missed all of last season due to injury, but started eight games in 2022.
What adding Mike Vrabel means for Browns’ coaching staff
Let’s not jump to any conclusions or plan for any emergency news conferences. Finally, what for a long time was an ever-changing Cleveland Browns organization has found a level of success and stability.
Still, the Browns’ hire of former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel to a consultant’s role is surprising — and worth further examination. Is this the Browns just trying to make themselves better via an avenue that was unexpected for all parties? It’s nothing deeper than that, right? The Browns wouldn’t undercut two-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski in plain sight, would they?
Why Chargers traded Keenan Allen
Keenan Allen is on his way to Chicago, and the Los Angeles Chargers have now firmly navigated through their precarious salary cap situation.
After months of speculation about the Chargers’ big-four veterans contracts — Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, Mike Williams and Allen — we have our answer, at least initially, on who is staying, who is going and at what price.
The Chargers cut Williams on Wednesday, saving $20 million in cap space. Mack and Bosa both agreed to restructured contracts, according to league sources. Mack agreed to his ahead of the new league year Wednesday. Bosa agreed to his Thursday ahead of a roster-bonus deadline. As part of those restructures, Mack took a $4.25 million pay cut, and Bosa took a $7 million pay cut, according to NFL Network. Mack’s restructure saves the Chargers $12.92 million in space, according to figures from Over the Cap. Bosa’s restructure will end up saving the Chargers around $11 million in cap space, based on the NFL Network report.
And then came Allen. The Chargers traded one of the best players in franchise history to the Chicago Bears for a fourth-round pick late Thursday night. According to league sources, the Chargers approached Allen about taking a pay cut, and he refused. The structure of the proposed pay cut was similar to the adjustments Bosa and Mack agreed to — slash some salary before restructuring the deal by converting part of the new total salary into a signing bonus. That would have allowed the Chargers to use bonus proration over two years to clear space. The Chargers and Allen could not come to terms, and that is when trade talks picked up, according to a league source. The trade saves the Chargers an additional $23.1 million in space.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — A few of the Bears free-agent additions met the media Friday at Halas Hall, including one of Keenan Allen’s teammates with the Chargers who also came to Chicago.
“He got a lot of years in the tank. That’s what people don’t understand,” linebacker Amen Obongbemiga said about Allen. “They might look at his age and question him but, nah, he’s got the juice. He’s going to bring some special moments to the city of Chicago. They are going to love him. I’m excited. I couldn’t hold my smile in when I saw the news. I was just so like, I couldn’t believe I’d be joining up with him again. It’s just one of those dudes you play with and you’re excited you play with and you want to be glad and you want to say that I played with Keenan Allen. He’s that type of player.”
Obongbemiga also knows what Gerald Everett, the Bears’ new No. 2 tight end, can mean for the passing game.
“He’s always going to get you some YAC,” he said. “… Even when you’re down, even when things aren’t going your way, you just him the ball and Gerald’s going to get you some plays to get everybody fired up.”
Center Coleman Shelton reunites with Shane Waldron after spending two seasons with him on the Rams. Shelton, who worked his way up to being a starter last season, said this scheme was part of his draw to Chicago.
“I've always liked how you can stretch a defense. It looks complex but it feels simple to the offense,” he said. “There's a bunch of different things that come off of certain formations and you can always just fall back on your rules.”
If the Bears have a rookie starting quarterback, and if Shelton is the starting center, that will be an important relationship.
“Just being a veteran, being an older guy helps,” he said. “Going into my seventh season, been around a similar offense, had my fair share of time from however you want to look at it — being on the practice squad to being a backup to working my way up to being a starter these past couple years. I feel like I have experience and I've been around a little bit.”
Cowboys releasing WR Michael Gallup, LB Leighton Vander Esch
The Dallas Cowboys no longer have anyone left on their roster from their 2018 draft class. The team announced Friday that they have released WR Michael Gallup and LB Leighton Vander Esch.
Gallup, a third-round pick in 2018, was designated a post-June 1 cut, which saves Dallas $9.5 million against this year’s salary cap but will count $8.7 million in 2025.
The Cowboys signed Gallup to a five-year, $57.5 million extension in March of 2022, two months after he suffered a torn ACL and MCL. The hope was that he’d recover and perform like the team’s No. 2 wide receiver. But that never happened. Gallup continued to fall on the depth chart. Currently, Dallas’ top three wide receivers are CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert. The Cowboys also think highly of WRs KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Brooks.
Vander Esch, Dallas’ first-round pick in 2018, missed 12 games last season with a neck injury. His release was a failed physical designation. Vander Esch had a Pro Bowl rookie season but was never able to repeat that outstanding year. Dallas signed veteran LB Eric Kendricks on Friday. He’s expected to fill Vander Esch’s role as a quarterback of the Cowboys’ defense this upcoming season.
How Josh Sweat’s signing impacts Eagles’ roster
General manager Howie Roseman’s strategy to organize the defensive line’s perimeter is closer to reaching its conclusion. This all began a month ago when the Eagles made it clear that Josh Sweat and Haason Reddick were both on the trading block. That effectively allowed the Eagles to gauge the market as they weighed how they’d approach two edge rushers who were entering the final years of their contracts.
It’s clear that Reddick, who is entering his age 30 season, is the most likely to be traded. His $21.8 million cap hit is scheduled to be the highest for Philadelphia in 2024. If they trade Reddick before June 1, another team could take on Reddick’s contract, and the Eagles would have $1.2 million in cap savings in 2024, according to Over the Cap.
Philadelphia, which drafted Nolan Smith No. 30 overall in 2023, added to its surplus at the position by signing former New York Jets edge rusher Bryce Huff to a three-year, $51.1 million deal in free agency. Huff, 25, showed promise in a breakout season last year with 10 sacks and 10 tackles for loss, which the Eagles hope will help preserve the effectiveness of their pass rush while also resetting the clock of their collective age at the position.

Panthers land safety Jordan Fuller
Panthers have their safety. It’s a one-year deal for Jordan Fuller, according to a league source.

New Packers Xavier McKinney, Josh Jacobs talk Jordan Love’s influence
Aaron Rodgers once said Green Bay was a free-agent destination primarily because guys wanted to play with him. He likely wasn’t wrong.
Based on what Josh Jacobs and McKinney said Friday, it seems as if in-season ability wasn’t the only thing Rodgers transferred to his heir. Don’t get it twisted: money will always have a significant pull. But what Jordan Love did in his first full season as the starting quarterback appears to have made waves around the league.
“I was telling people when we were scouting, when we were playing them last year, I seen him make some throws a lot of people can’t do,” Jacobs said. “Running backwards on one foot and slinging it on a dime. That kind of got me excited when I just started thinking about, watching film on him, and just to see the way he throws the ball effortlessly and the grit he plays with. I’m very excited to play with him.
“To have a guy so young and playing as well as he has and a guy that’s going to be around for a long time, it’s fun to have something stable and know what you’re going to get out of a guy week in and week out, so that’s very exciting for me.”
McKinney and his former team, the Giants, made Love have one of his worst games last season. In fact, McKinney recovered Love’s crucial fumble in the middle of the second quarter with Green Bay on the edge of the red zone in an eventual 24-22 Giants win. Even so, the 24-year-old safety said Love was a “big factor” in his decision to join the Packers after the Giants didn’t tag him.
“It’s a competitive league and you need an elite quarterback to be able to even have a chance,” McKinney said. “I believe that he is an elite quarterback. Obviously, I played against him and I watched him play and I think he’s really good and the sky’s the limit for him. I know he’s a great leader — I’ve heard great things about him — so it’s going to be real fun being a part of this team and being able to go to work with these guys every day.”

How the Giants ended with Devin Singletary at RB
(Photo: USA Today)
The swift pace of the running back market was surprising, with Saquon Barkley and others securing lucrative deals on the first day of free agency. The Athletic ’s Dianna Russini reported the Giants were interested in former Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard, who agreed to a three-year, $21.75 million contract with $10.5 million guaranteed with the Tennessee Titans in the first hour of free agency.
The Giants didn’t waste any time pivoting to Devin Singletary, who agreed to a three-year, $16.5 million contract with $9.5 million guaranteed shortly after Barkley left for Philadelphia. It’s not a surprise the Giants were drawn to Singletary, who was a third-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2019 when Schoen was Buffalo’s assistant GM and Giants coach Brian Daboll was offensive coordinator.
Singletary’s $5.5 million average salary is slightly higher than other backs in his tier. Austin Ekeler signed a two-year, $8.4 million contract with $4.2 million guaranteed with the Washington Commanders. Another former Bills running back, Zack Moss, signed a two-year, $8 million contract with $3 million guaranteed with the Cleveland Browns. Gus Edwards signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with $3.4 million guaranteed with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Giants clearly valued Singletary higher than those backs. Time will tell if they could have gotten better value with another option.

Running back A.J. Dillon is officially back with the Packers after passing a physical and signing a new deal on Friday. Quarterback Jordan Love's reaction shows his approval for the Quadfather's return as he will team up with new signing Josh Jacobs in Green Bay's backfield.
Who is the Cowboys' No. 3 WR?
Assuming Michael Gallup is not a part of the team’s future, whether his departure comes via trade, immediate or a post-June 1 cut, the Cowboys need to figure out what the plan is behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. At the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Stephen Jones mentioned Jalen Tolbert as having a “real breakout year,” which is a rather generous way to describe a 22-catch, 268-yard, two-touchdown 17-game season.
There’s no question that Tolbert was improved in his second year following a rough rookie season, but a lot of that had to do with special teams contributions and a sheltered role on offense. The optimism for Tolbert’s future is understandable given his trajectory but No. 3 receiver isn’t a throwaway depth position anymore, and certainly not in the Cowboys’ offense. If Dallas feels Tolbert is the answer, that’s fine but some added depth can’t hurt. Jalen Brooks (six catches, 64 yards as a rookie in 2023) would be next in line behind Tolbert.
If tight end Jake Ferguson continues to ascend, he may be the most viable second or third receiving option behind Lamb and Cooks. He’s earned Dak Prescott’s trust and the two have shown strong chemistry, particularly in the middle of the field.
Worrying about receiver may seem unnecessary given the roster’s bigger holes but the Cowboys are a passing offense with a highly compensated quarterback. The offense will function through the air, and there needs to be enough playmakers to make it happen.
Cowboys free-agency questions: How can run game improve? Is Jalen Tolbert the No. 3 WR?
More reaction from Aaron Donald’s retirement pours in, including from a longtime teammate in Andrew Whitworth.
