Flatland Cavalry Does It Again With Masterful Fourth Studio Album ‘Wandering Star’

Flatland Cavalry does not miss, and their fourth studio album is no exception.  Wandering Star  marks the first project with their new label, Interscope Records, and Flatland worked with Dwight A. Baker on the album’s production.

With previously released singles “Last American Summer,” “Oughta See You (The Way I D0),” along with their most recent release featuring Kaitlin Butts,  “Mornings With You,”  this project highlights the dynamic sound of Flatland.

Reflecting on the finished album, frontman Cleto Cordero shares:

“Historically, all our albums have been named after a lyric that seems to most encapsulate the spirit and ethos of the project. Late one evening from my office in Nashville came the inspiration to name this record.

My wife, who is from Oklahoma, acquired a piece of embroidered folk art which hangs on the wall of my office of a native man posed with Eagle wings. The art piece is untitled, but I imagined the subject being named ‘Dancing Eagle.’

Then I imagined ‘what would be my name if it were given to me in the same spirit?’… and the two words ‘Wandering Star’ floated to the surface; which happens to be a lyric in “Spinnin’.”

Naming our fourth LP Wandering Star felt right as we have been wandering around all of creation the last ten years, truth-seeking and dream-chasing; aiming for the moon and at last it seems we’ve found ourselves finally floating amongst the stars.”

Across the thirteen tracks, listeners hear the group tell stories highlighting the highs, lows, and simple pleasures of life intertwined with catchy melodies intertwined with Texas and red dirt roots. The intentionality behind each song shines bright, highlighting the magic that is Flatland Cavalry.

This is an album that needs to be listened to front to back and then back to front again. Turn this all the way up.

Diddy seen on video pacing around miami airport after raids at both homes, diddy on video pacing around airport ... after two federal raids.

TMZ has the first video of Diddy after his homes were raided by the feds Monday -- and instead of being in handcuffs and on the ground ... the guy was kinda just walking around.

Check out this footage we obtained, which we shot around 3 PM PT Monday -- a couple hours after the raids at his homes got underway -- at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport ... where eyewitnesses tell us Diddy and some other people got stopped by the feds.

We're told this shows Diddy pacing around outside a Customs office there at the airport -- and as you can see ... he's not being detained, and he certainly doesn't seem to be in custody here. Instead, Diddy is just walking around all by his lonesome.

An eyewitness tells us Diddy was waiting on other people in his party here -- who were stopped and questioned by the feds as well during this whole ordeal -- but we haven't been able to confirm who was rolling with him yet.

All we know is he and his crew got stopped at Opa Locka, where we're told he appeared to be aboard a separate private jet ... and that's when Homeland Security rolled up.

While it might seem strange that Diddy wasn't cuffed, it actually tracks with what we've heard about his situation thus far -- namely, sources with direct knowledge tell us he is not under arrest at this point. And more importantly, he obviously isn't on the run either.

As we reported ... two separate raids in L.A. and Miami went down Monday -- where Homeland Security agents barreled through his homes and escorted some people out.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions, but it would appear law enforcement officials are probing federal crimes that have been alleged against Diddy of late in several lawsuits ... including alleged sex trafficking , all of which Diddy has denied again and again.

NBC News reports that federal officials have already spoken to three women and a man pertaining to claims of sex trafficking, among other allegations, and other interviews are supposedly scheduled to go down in the near future.

We've reached out to Diddy's camp ... so far, no word back.

KEJAA tours Mwea rice growing areas in exchange programme

The 3-day tour was sponsored by the embassy of japan for the benefit of kenyans who have studied in japan..

The visit comprised three phases: A visit to the KALRO Rice Research Laboratory, a field visit to rice fields and Thiba dam and a members’ seminar.

• KEJAA reported that its members had a chance to network and exchange their experiences with those in the organisation. 

The Kenya Japan Alumni Association (KEJAA) made a three-day tour to the KALRO Mwea and National Irrigation Authority (NIA).

According to the association, the tour was meant to promote exchanges between Kenyans who have visited Japan for study or training.

The Embassy of Japan sponsored the field tour of the Mwea rice-growing areas for the alumni association of the many Kenyans who have studied in Japan.

KEJAA said that the visit to the rice research laboratory helped the members appreciate the research facilities provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the centre.

During the seminar, presentations were made by three participants who informed the officials about the work that happens at the KALRO Mwea and National Irrigation Authority.

KEJAA reported that its members had a chance to network and exchange their experiences with those in the organisation.

The visit was hosted by a Kenya-Japan MEXT Scholarship Alumni Member Emily Gichuhi who is also a Senior Research Scientist at the Centers’ Rice Research Laboratory.

She guided the attendees through the steps involved in developing different types of rice through the process of rice breeding.

Among other things the members of KEJAA were taught included; some of the diseases that can affect rice in the fields and the history of the irrigation authority.

The Kenya Japan Alumni Association (KEJAA) was officially launched on November 26, 2010, in Nairobi. 

KEJAA is an umbrella organization bringing together all alumni organizations.

These are; The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA), ex-participants of the Alumni of KENYA (JEPAK), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and Ship of the World Youth (SWY).

Jhené Aiko is teasing a tour that should be nothing less than magical.

On Tuesday, the R&B songstress announced that she’ll be heading on an extensive arena tour this summer — and she’s bringing some exciting female artists on the road with her.

Two months after performing at Coachella, Aiko will head to Detroit to start her Magic Hour Tour, before stopping in cities such as Detroit, Orlando, San Francisco, and Portland. She’ll bring Coi Leray , Tink , Umi, and Kiana Ledé as “co-stars” on the road.

“We going on tour with the 🐐,” wrote Leray on Instagram reacting to the news.

“If you know me…you know what this means to me,” wrote Ledé on Instagram. “Thank you Jhené😭” “I am so excited!” added Umi.

“let’s try this again…” Aiko wrote on Instagram with a teaser for the album.

Tickets for the Magic Hour Tour go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time, while presale tickets available on Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time.
