Bangkok City Tour Reviews

1. private bangkok city tour full day.

  • Duration: 8 hours
  • Departure:  Hotel pickup and drop-off included
  • Departure Time: 9:00 AM
  • Includes:  Entrance fees, bottled water, lunch, professional guides

Picture this: you’ve just landed in Bangkok and you’re overwhelmed by all of the business and interesting sites of the city. You figure you’ll head to your hotel, but where do you even start to come up with a plan after that?

Well, the Private Bangkok City Tour Full Day will answer all those questions for you. Make sure you have on some comfortable clothing and shoes, and meet your tour guide in the lobby.

Your first stop of the day is at the legendary Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit), which houses a nearly 6-ton golden, 700-year-old sculpture of Buddha. Learn about the story behind it, and how it’s become incredibly famous around the world.

Afterward, take a leisurely stroll around Bangkok’s Chinatown, with colorful alleyways leading past amazing Chinese temples, the famous Yaowarat Road, and of course, the scent of tasty street food wafting through the air.

If you want to grab some unique souvenirs, you’ll find plenty of cool choices here – from collectible musical instruments to tech toys. Stop by and smell the roses as the Pak KhlongTalat (Flower Market), where you’ll see more flowers than you thought possible.

Be prepared to visit the most sacred Buddhist temple in the country next: the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Your guide will tell you how it was started in 1782, and why it’s currently the city’s biggest tourist attraction and a must-see from Buddhists around the world.

We hope you aren’t tired of temples yet, because you still have to see the Temple of Dawn and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha!

More Information & Tour Booking

100% refund for cancellations within 24 hours of tour experience, 2. private bangkok city tour full day with the grand palace.

  • Departure: Hotel pickup and drop-off available
  • Includes: Private tour, tour guides, lunch at local restaurant

This next tour draws quite a few similarities to the first one, both in time and content. However, we appreciated that this tour seemed to focus a bit more on the “local” side of things, seamlessly combining top tourist sites with local hangouts.

If you’d like to get a better idea of what it’s like for locals, check out the Private Bangkok City Tour Full Day with The Grand Palace !

Start off by being picked up from your hotel or other accommodations, and head out first thing to the Temple of the Golden Buddha. As the largest golden Buddha in the world, you can imagine that this place gets packed pretty early so it’s important to arrive before the crowds start to form.

Follow the impressive visit up with Bangkok’s Chinatown, which is full of its own set of wonders: unique electronics, antiques, clothing, home items, and so much more.

Even if you aren’t into flowers, you’re sure to find the Pak Khlong Talat (Flower Market) as interesting as we did. You’ll find everything from the most common flowers like roses and orchids, to some rarities that are new to you.

You can purchase most in packs of either 50 or 100, but at such a relatively affordable price, why not? If you have time, you may also luck out and snag a boat ride through the canals!

You’ll be doing a lot of walking around, but you’ll have the chance to refuel at a local restaurant with the rest of your group. We found the guides to be foodies themselves, with tons of knowledge and enthusiasm over local dishes!

They’ll even tailor the experience if you decide you’d like to experience more than just the included lunch at a local restaurant – perhaps dessert or drinks to follow it up?

3. Private Three Temples Bangkok City Tour

  • Duration: 3 to 4 hours
  • Departure Time: 9:00 AM & 2:00 PM
  • Includes: Air-conditioned vehicle, professional guide, all entrance fees

We get that not everyone has the availability to take on an 8-hour tour. If you’re on a rather tight schedule but would still like to see some of the most incredible Thai temples, this next tour is perfect for you.

The Private Three Temples Bangkok City Tour (SHA Plus)  is perfect for first-time visitors, taking you through local markets and neighborhoods to incredibly popular tourist attractions.

We felt that this tour wasn’t simply a transaction in which you pay someone to lead you around. Rather, it felt like an old friend who was glad to see us, was taking us to their favorite spots and sharing all of the beauty and history behind each one.

Oh, and we really appreciated how the guides were so helpful, always offering to take photos for us at each site and offering recommendations we can try later on in our trip.

Just like with the other two tours, you’ll first arrive at the Wat Trimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha) and learn how it was at one point covered with a layer of stucco and colored glass to try and conceal its true identity (for almost 200 years!).

When relocated in 1955, during the move, the plaster chipped a bit, one of the people helping out spotted a glimmer of gold and the rest is history. Then, take an educational drive through Chinatown and Indian town as your guide offers interesting historical and cultural commentary throughout.

Arrive at the Flower Market and take some time to explore before heading over to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, which holds an absolutely enormous gold Buddha!

One of the highlights was crossing the Chao Phraya River by boat to experience the Temple of Dawn, sitting right on the west bank and overlooking the water. It’s easily one of the most visually striking landmarks in the city, and that’s saying a lot!

4. Private Half-Day Bangkok City Tour with The Grand Palace

  • Duration: 5 hours
  • Departure: Hotel pickup and drop-off included
  • Includes: English speaking guide at the time of sightseeing, Transport by air-conditioned private car

With a private, air-conditioned vehicle to drive you around, it’s one of the most efficient and comfortable ways to explore!

After being picked up from your hotel by your guide, you’ll head first to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha: a bastion of the Buddhist faith. This is a pretty enormous site, but it still gets busy so arriving early will let you escape most (if not all) of the crowds.

Continue to The Grand Palace, where King Rama I to King Rama V of the Rattanokosin Kingdom actually resided at one place.

The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is up next (inside the temple still), which is said to give legitimacy to the king and protection to the entirety of Thailand. The picture sits in an ordination hall, which is quite impressive in itself, with paintings everywhere!

Afterward, you’ll go a more low-key route to the Amulet Market, where you’ll be able to browse through tons of different amulets and Buddha statues (with many souvenirs made carefully by hand).

We can’t leave out the Temple of Dawn, as it’s simply one of the most fascinating landmarks in the entire continent and featured on innumerable postcards, in movies, etcetera. Rising up over 80 meters over the river, it’s one of just a few with a view like this.

5. Private Full Day Bangkok City Tour

  • Duration: 9 hours
  • Departure Time: 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM
  • Includes: Entrance fees, bottled water, private transportation, professional guides

Maybe you have all the time in the world, and you’re on the hunt for a more comprehensive tour that will really take you through all the ins-and-outs of Bangkok.

The Private Full Day Bangkok City Tour  is an excellent choice, with a personal driver and guide who will take you by private vehicle around to some of the most enthralling locations in the city.

As this is a VIP-style experience, it’ll be designed around just what you and your group want to do and your specific interests!

Just like with all the others, you’ll be picked up in the morning from your hotel (start time is a bit flexible, depending on your group and availability) and head out to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, first.

The opulent temple is phenomenal, and make sure you learn about how it was reestablished in the late 1700s by King Rama 1 and some seriously interesting stories and anecdotes along the way!

The Grand Palace is next, which truly lives up to its name, seeing as it was home to the Thai King and Royal Court! Next, make your way to the Golden Buddha, dating back over 700 years to the Sukhothai kingdom.

Learn all about how they managed to disguise it in a way to protect it from an opposing military force before heading to the gorgeous Temple of Dawn. It’s probably the most notable of all in terms of visual aesthetics, transforming Bangkok’s skyline into something out of a movie.

After, enjoy a relaxing and beautiful lunch along the Chao Phraya River and Canal, where you’ll cruise along leisurely as you take in the amazing structures along the banks.

It’s the perfect way to continue the tour, displaying the city’s diversity and how it really does have everything to offer!

Why You Should do a Guided Tour of Bangkok

  • A guide will navigate the city : Bangkok can be overwhelming, especially if you’re not used to big cities. A guide will know their way around and can help you get your bearings. They will also help you figure out the best way to get from point A to point B. In Bangkok, that’s not always an easy thing! There are several ways to get around, like tuk-tuks, taxis or public transportation.
  • A guide will give you insider info : A guide can give you all sorts of interesting facts and stories about the city that you might not know otherwise. For example, did you know that Bangkok has a network of canals, or khlongs, that were once used for transportation? Or that the city’s official name is one of the longest in the world, with 169 characters? A guide can also help you understand the local customs and culture. This especially helpful if you’re visiting for the first time.
  • A guide can take you off the beaten path : While there are plenty of must-see sights in Bangkok, there are also lots of hidden gems that many tourists don’t know about. A good guide can show you some of the city’s lesser-known sights. Be that a hidden temple, a street food market that’s popular with locals, or an unusual museum. They will also help you avoid the crowds and find the best times to visit popular attractions.
  • A guide can help you communicate with the locals : One my favorite things about traveling is meeting new people and learning about their customs. A guide will help you  by introducing you to local artisans, shopkeepers or families. They will also help you learn a few words of Thai, which can go a long way in making connections with locals.
  • A guide can help you stay safe : Bangkok is generally a safe city, however there are a few things you need to watch out for. Pickpockets are very common and you need to be on the watch for them. A tour guide will help you stay aware of your surroundings and avoid any problems. They can also help you navigate cultural norms like, when it’s appropriate to remove your shoes or cover your shoulders.

People Also Ask About Bangkok City Tour Package

What are the different ticket options.

There are two different ticket options. The first ticket is meant for the morning tour, which starts at 7.30 am and ends at 12.30 pm, whereas, the second ticket option is for the evening tour, which begins at 11.45 am to goes up to 5.00 pm. Based on the traffic condition and time availability, tourists can choose either one of the options and enjoy all the distinguished temples and attractions at ease. Travellers, mostly go for the evening tour, as it provides ideal weather to traverse across all the places and exploit it to the core.

Will we stop at Wat Pho?

Yes. You will be visiting the Wat Pho, also called as Temple of Reclining Buddha. After visiting the scenic locations of Chinatown and flower market, you will be headed to the Wat Pho temple. Interestingly, Wat Pho is one among the six temples in Thailand, having the highest grade of first class Royal temples. The temple is equally popular for its complex boasted with the largest collection of Buddha images, and the enormous gold plated Reclining Buddha image (46 meters long). Thus, one can witness the age-old traditions and rituals, practiced since ancient times. In addition, it gives one a pleasant atmosphere to relax and meditate.

Will we get a chance to explore Wat Trimit?

Yes, of course. In this Bangkok city & temples tour, one cannot afford to miss the Wat Trimit temple, which is widely known as Golden Buddha amongst local tourists. The temple is officially called as Phra Phuttha Maha Suwana Patimakon and located in the temple of Wat Traimit, Bangkok. This historically significant temple features a glided exterior, exhibitions & a massive golden statue of Buddha. Here, the Golden Buddha is depicting the gracious Sukhothai style that is very much in favour of today’s world. Please note that the guests are required to cover up while entering the temple, otherwise they will not be allowed inside.

Will we also see the Golden Mountain?

Yes. You will also explore the Golden Mountain, which carries a big part in the overall itinerary. The place has an 80 Meter tall “Golden Mount”, and a huge glide stupa on top of it. It was previously recognized as the highest point in Bangkok. One can reach the stupa on top of the Golden Mount only by climbing 318 steps. As we know, Wat Saket “The temple of the Golden Mount” is located at the outskirts of the old Rathanakosin island area, and it dates back to the mighty Ayutthaya Empire. There is also a complex dedicated for Buddhist scriptures, which is worth seeing.

Why is Chinatown in Bangkok so famous?

Chinatown in Bangkok is so famous for having a perfect blend of traditional and new-age ambiance. Here, one can spot several ancient Buddhist temples on one side, and experience the bustling crowd of the city on the other side. The place is exceptionally active, enthusiastic, and vogue at night. One can enjoy the nightlife in Chinatown like anything and get the best respite of it. Yaowarat is a must-visit place at night, where you can get chic street food at the lowest prices. Tourists from other countries, usually, spend their leisure time in Chinatown minimum one time and return with lots of ever-lasting memories.

Will we see the Wat Benchamabopit?

Yes. You will see the Wat Benchamabopit, also called as the marble temple. If you want to know the architectural brilliance of Thailand, you should come to Wat Benchamabopit and get to know the unparallel ability of those sculptures. It is mainly famous for its main chapel built in white Carara Italian marble to house a replica of Thailand’s Buddha image, Phra Phuttachinarat. Also, it reveals the mixture of European and Thai style of architecture. The place offers painting classes and creativity development classes for beginners, which mostly attracts the children and brings out their inner talents.

Is there transport facility?

Yes. There is a transport facility offered for tourists on request. Once you’ve opted for the pickup and drop off service, you need to give your contact information and hotel address to the tour operator. It helps them to arrange a vehicle suitably and make sure that tourists are having a safe and secure ride. Since there are two different timings, the transport facility is served for each separately. Please note, that the transfer service is provided for hotels, located in Bangkok. If your hotel doesn’t come in the close vicinity, you need to find an alternative mode of transport.

Why is Bangkok City & Temples Tour so famous?

Unlike other tours, Bangkok City & Temples Tour is one-of-a-kind. It takes you to a contemporary place, where you can witness some major attractions like the Golden Buddha, Wat Benchamabopit, Wat Pho, and many more, at the same time you can sightsee the city, including the City Pillar Shrine, National Museum, the Parliament, etc. This entire journey is ideal for temple lovers and explorers, who’d like to learn the art and culture of Thailand, depicted in different forms. Moreover, there will be an English speaking guide, telling you the intriguing information about Bangkok, mythological stories, and other interesting facts.

What should we carry for this tour?

When it comes to visiting temples, it is highly essential to wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. If you don’t have a sleeved shirt, you can bring some other cloth just in case, to wrap around you. Since the temple authorities follow the strict dress code, it is mandatory to cover up the body. The second important thing is your identity card. It not only helps you during verification but also gets you discount at some places. Next is the camera to capture the most alluring monuments and its vibrant artworks. At last, you can bring sunscreen, a cooler, and a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the journey.

Will there be an English speaking guide?

Yes. We have dedicated an English speaking guide for this tour. In order to bridge the communication gap between tourists and the local community, the management has taken this much-needed initiative. Considering the magnificent temples and city attractions, it is necessary to accommodate a tour guide, who could share the great history of Bangkok and its legacy.

An alternative private tour to explore bustling Bangkok the fun way using a variety of local transports (tuk-tuk, sky train, subway, water-taxi).  First you go to the city's largest fresh market located in Khlong Toey district.  You will find all kinds of raw materials for cooking (fruits, vegetables, spices, meat, seafood, live chickens, etc) at this 24-hour market.   Its busiest time is usually early morning when sellers from all over the city flock here to acquire goods for their shops that open in the morning.

Then, we visit Jim Thompson House, a Traditional Thai style teak house that is now a museum showing the production of silk and the development of silk business in Thailand.  The house was once owned by an American who promoted Thai silk business to the international level.  Nearby we will take you to a rarely visited old silk factory that has been producing and selling silk products until today.

Before lunch, the tour takes you up the 344 steps of the Golden Mount to Wat Saket where you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of old Bangkok.

We then enjoy a delicious freshly cooked Thai lunch at a good local restaurant.

Later on, we take you to Wat Traimit, a prominent temple in the Chinatown area.  Its image hall houses the world's largest Buddha image made of pure gold.   This solid sitting Buddha is approximately 3 meters tall and weighs 5.5 tons.   The Buddha is estimated to be more than 700 years old and it has the features used by the Sukhothai school of art.

We then explore Chinatown where you can stroll down the streets and small alleys lined with local markets, shop houses, colonial buildings, and several temples.

You can personalize your tour on the booking form , you can select to replace Khlong Toey market with:

  • The colorful Flower & Vegetable market.
  • Wat Arun (temple of dawn), one of Bangkok's best know landmarks on the riverside.
  • Wat Pho (reclining Buddha temple), one of the most impressive temples in Thailand.

This tour can be organised with luxury minivan if more comfort is required, a tuktuk ride can still be done. Minivan is also recommended for families with small children, and groups of 5 or more participants. Please contact us via the question form to request a personalized tour by minivan.

9 reviews for Bangkok Explorer tour

Sam & Neale – March 4, 2024

Our guide, Air was fantastic. She was really knowledgeable about all the locations we visited and was so easy to chat to throughout the day. The Bangkok Explorer tour was just the right amount of time for us (8:30am – 3:30pm). Air collected us at the hotel and made sure we got back on time. We found the tour invaluable, a lot of the extra things experienced we simply would have missed out on when visiting the locations alone, especially the temples.

1st timer from Hawaii – February 9, 2024

The whole tour on our first day was just amazing. Miss Air was a pleasant guide. She was very active with us, which made the whole first timer experience so great. She was so informative about every destination we had. We had such a great time with her as much as the tour.

Brenda & Bill – February 7, 2024

Ms. Air did a fantastic job as our tour guide! She was friendly, patient (we had a ton of questions), knowledgeable and a delight to spend the day with while touring Bangkok! I would highly recommend using her for future visitors to Bangkok.

JC – December 25, 2022

Our tour was great. Air was amazing and took us through the back streets of Chinatown to see how people actually live, and away from the tourist areas. We got a feel for the culture and everyday life. We visited several temples, the market, the Jim Thompson house, and learned so much. It was fun interacting with locals. We never felt rushed and Air was so accommodating and helpful for my mother who had mobility issues. We will absolutely use BKK on future tours and recommend them to all our friends.

Mathias – September 14, 2019

Awesome and super interesting tour. Loved the refreshments and the lunch place we ate. Wonderful! Ms. Raht was a gem. She explained so many things with detail, took time for our needs, showed and let us taste so many delicious things. Great and fun tour guide.

Brett – July 16, 2019

Excellent tour for the price. Tour guide Petch was outstanding.

D & B – February 9, 2019

Marisa met us promptly as scheduled, and went over the plan for the day. She really wanted to know what we were interested in and what mattered to us. She was very knowledgeable and very personable. We loved her from the beginning! We wanted a tour that would take us off the beaten path, as we were good with the Bangkok travel system, and could make our own way to the major sites and spend as much time there as we wanted. So, off we went to the Klong Toei Market and spent a good amount of time there. Marisa will extremely knowledgeable about all the food on offer, and we tried a crazy number of things. Our day was busy and filled with non-stop adventures as we travelled via taxi, tuk tuk, boat and subway. We were feeling a little ‘templed out’ so Marisa suggested another market for us. Narrow, winding back streets filled with a whole new array of unknown food, and again, we tried a good amount of it. Some delicious and some not so much, but all part of a very authentic experience! Our lunch break was again off the beaten path and not something we would have had the opportunity to try unless we were with a local. And it was fabulous. Grilled chicken wrapped in pandan leaves was fantastic! Then onto the next set of adventure in the afternoon, and by the time we said goodbye around 4PM, we were thoroughly and utterly exhausted, but elated. It was a brilliant day, and BKK and Marisa delivered on everything they promised, and more. It was absolutely perfect. Thank you so much Marisa for helping make our time in Bangkok as fabulous as it was! And thank you for the tips on some other local restaurants to try and things to do. And you know that the next time we’re in Bangkok we’ll be calling BKK Tours and booking you again for another amazing experience.

Rob – February 8, 2018

Great tour and Air was just the best. Very friendly and knowledgeable. More like a friend than tour guide. Great mix of transport, excellent insight in the streets of Bangkok, good food.

Brad J – October 24, 2017

Best way to see Bangkok! Ms Oi was an awesome guide. Her English was excellent and she felt like a friend from the very beginning. I travel a lot, and have taken many tours in my life. She is quite literally the best tour guide I have ever had. Bangkok is a difficult city for people who do not speak Thai. This tour should be required to help foreigners navigate the best sites in the city. I would strongly recommend this tour for anyone who likes Bangkok, but needs to see more. Even if you have been to these sites before, go with a local guide. They will tell you so much more than you can read about in a guide book.
