Adventure Photo Tours

Over the years, Harry Fisch has led and organized small, carefully designed, exclusive photo tours to exotic destinations. Our expeditions are exciting, passionate, and fun. Photography is our excuse to explore different worlds, to discover realities other than our own, and to see what happens behind the scenes and beyond what a normal traveler sees and experiences. Travelers of all levels and ages, novices, and experienced photographers, join our trips with a focus on travel photography and people. This is not a sightseeing tour in which a photographer has been included.

Who's Harry Fisch

Harry Fisch is a travel photographer who founded Nomad Photo Expeditions in 2011. The Winner of the 2012 World National Geographic photo contest in the Places Category and later disqualified due to editing-out a plastic bag (read the post (read the post How I won and lost the National Geographic contest in less than one second" ).

finalist in the Sony 2012 World Photo Awards, two Jury Awards in 2014 in the Grand Prix de la Découverte, 2019 two IPA Professional Awards of Merit, 2019 finalist in the Travel Photographer of the Year. In 2020 he has been awarded a Bronze in the professional category on the MIFA (Moscow International Foto Awards), 2020 finalist at the IPA as well as two honorable mentions. 2021 was the year for a 1st price (Gold) in the Fine-Art category of the prestigious PX3 (Prix de la Photographie de Paris) as well as a honorable mention. In 2022 The Tokyo International Foto Prizes (TIFA) made an official selection of 3 of his series and awarded two additional series with Honorable Mentions. In 2022 he won LENS CULTURE (Critic's Choice) award and CRITICAL MASS award

Harry Fisch's work has been published in various prestigious web photography sites such as Lens Culture, Maptia, Ephotozine, to name a few. He contributes to International Photography Magazines as SLR Lounge, Lightstalking, Digital Photography school, Extraordinary Vision Magazine, (USA), Photography Week, Digital World (UK), Fotógrafo Digital(Spain), and several other.

His interest in the photography of localities and cultural realities has seen him travel through the "Golden Triangle" area between Laos, Burma and Thailand, the camel fair of Pushkar in India, visiting the famous temples of Bagan in Myanmar or spending days in the lost salt mines in the desert of the Kutch. Mongolia, Cuba, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Senegal, Japan, are just an example of the destinations - more than 50 countries - that Harry Fisch has documented and later included on many itinerary of his photo tours.

Harry Fisch designs the photographic tours from the human perspective; looking for different locations, sometimes a nearby residence, or attending an event, accepting an invitation that can make contact between the traveler and the people the photographer more real and personal.

After years of traveling, has come to the conclusion that technique and vision are indispensable tools, but that empathy, curiosity, pleasure through personal relationships are the determinants which enable photography to transmit so much more than a post card.

Who's Roberto Pazzi

“Photography makes me look at the world like a child. That reminds me that the simplest things are also the most important ones….” Simple moments and images describing the wonderful miracle of life. Every single face is like a book of the life of someone where every wrinkle is telling a story of that book. Behind every human being there are stories made of emotions, scents, lives, rumors, memories, voices, tired hands, wet eyes, smiles."

  • A Great Experience

  • Accommodations
  • Needed Skills

Incredible destinations, great locations within the destinations, interesting subjects and places, the best photographic support and a positive day to day atmosphere. All this together with nice lodging and food. Most of our trips are Photo Tours, and a few Workshops. On a photo tour we spend about 80%of our photo time taking photos, and about 20% on analyzing them and honing our vision.

Far less academic than a photography workshop, these trips take place in remote areas that are beautiful and certainly intense, and you start in hands on from the get-go. A professional photographers will give you advice on the technical aspects of photography as needed, but above all, about the environment of the shooting: the way to approach the subject, the preparation, the equipment. Spontaneous lessons will alternate between set photo sessions,, analysis of photographic techniques and photo reviewing.

We put together small groups, between 6 and 10 people at the most, which we keep small in order to fit in all of the special interests of each participant. A friendly and less aggressive integration between the traveler and the locations we visit. The size of the group does matter. Sharing knowledge with people going on photo trips has to be done personally. On one hand, a big group just can’t make “intimate” photos and on the other, the leading photographer can’t devote enough attention to the individual traveler-photographer within a large group.

With plenty of time to discuss technical problems, creative doubts, or any other personal matters that may arise. Some are concerned with technique, others with how to approach human subjects, and almost all of them with their personal approach to the artistic element of photography.

Beyond the destination itself we look at the most interesting themes and subjects in each location. You need to know what is authentic or of genuine photographic interest and what isn’t, and you need, of course, a solid connection to the locals.

Years of investment in local research, looking for interesting places to visit, struggling to create the proper contacts, handpicking hotels.  We are all passionate about photography, and want our clients to share that. We approach this challenge by creating opportunities to catch everything at its best; people interacting until we hit the perfect, most natural and real scene.

Only after years of photographic experience on the ground do you get to know a locale’s special feeling, out of the way places, and how to make ties with the people who live there as well as with their reality.

Our priority, when choosing accommodation, is to give you proximity to the desired photographic location and contact with local people. All in comfort! 4 stars hotels, boutique hotels and occasionally 5 stars. We stay at well-placed hotels that allow us to reach the area of photography in a short time, and have good amenities, such as that have private bathrooms, air conditioning and/or fans.

We share our destinations with passionate beginners as well as advanced amateurs and, occasionally, with a “pro”. Much of the style of the tutoring on our trips is focused on the analysis of the work needed to create a picture: what can be relevant to a scene, how to establish the plot of the photograph, how to guide the eye of the viewer, create a rhythm and a direction for the photograph.

Photo tours are always a different experience, an opportunity to see the world through a new point of view. Photography trips are unforgettable as we have the chance to visit other cultures and collect images able to tell stories by themselves. At Nomad Photo Expeditions, we organize photography travel tours around the world, a unique kind of travel to boost your photographic skills while you explore the other face of the world.

All our travel photography experiences are prepared to connect and share with locals, approaching their lives , these are adventure photo tours so we work to be part of that culture for a few days. During these days you can take pictures around discovering people, landscape and details to understand the history of the land.

Photography expeditions are the best excuse to approach to other philosophies and values, expand your knowledge and keep an extraordinary memory.

Nomad photography is centred in photo expeditions along a territory, where travellers can take images which relate the particular character of the place. We organize different photography adventure events around the world. These are our best photo tours.

China is a country full of contrasts, in this tour we visit Beijin and the southern zone of this unreachable country, where we can live with local tribes full of folklore and traditions. This expedition photo tour starts in Beijing, the capital of China, where we visit the main points of interest like the Temple of the sky and the night market of Dong Hua Men. The rest of the trip will be a unique possibility to discover this country through their typical tribes.

Cuba is a place with its own taste. In this photo tours you can experience a photographic engagement with the island, visiting hidden locations that you cannot visit with typical travel agencies. Some of the best photographers in the history have chosen Cuba as the perfect landscape for their works, the reason is very simple, Cuba offers a paradise where the time stands still and people live the island as a huge party.

Ethiopia represents all the ethnicities and traditions of Africa. This is a very uncommon photo tour to know ancient cultures and take pictures close to the locals. The South Omo tribes. Landscapes in the centre of Africa are outstanding, the savannah and all the creatures that survive in this place are ready for you, to represent all the beauty of this place of the world which is the origin of the human being. We visit Lalibela, in the north of the country, to know local tribes and live their traditions with them.

Varanasi is the oldest inhabited city in the world, many times we visit this place in our photographic tour as well as Jaipur, Jodhpur or Udaipur in the north of India. On many of our tours we end in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. We love India, so we have another option based in a travel to Mumbai and other cities in the south part of the country, where you can assist to different elephant festivals and take some of the best pictures of your life.

Naadam is a traditional festival located in Mongolia where foreign people can learn the depth of the Mongolian folklore. Another good excuse to choose this photographic tour is the eagle training experience, where locals train all the eagles as hunting assistants. Come with us to this special experience in the hearth of Asia.

Marrakech, Essaouira, Merzouga…, this North African country has dozens of reasons to visit it, and we prepare each year a complete photo tour visiting some of the most attractive cities of Morocco. As part of the experience, we enjoy different activities exploring the desert with great hotels as well as camps in Jaima, the local accommodation for nomads, for a night. Morocco is full of charm and we visit the less known part of this country.

We visit Peru to enjoy Inti Raymi, the Sun Festival, but we discover other treasures kept in this country like the Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. One of the best parts of this adventure photo tour is spend time with Aymaras, a tribe that lives in different zones of Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Peru is tradition, is food, music and popular art, if you are looking for a place with a singular character come with us to Peru.

If you want to improve your photography skills with an expert guide just choose one of our programs for amateur photographers of all levels. You will learn tips while exploring some of the most beautiful places around the world. Contact us for more information.

Train Trips - Travel was revolutionized with the implementation of the railroad, allowing people to travel in what was then a rapid pace from destination to destination. Today this ideal has been flipped on its head, and train travel is a leisurely paced excursion allowing time to relax and appreciate the slower meandering through beautiful countrysides. National Geographic train trips cover the classics, such as the Trans-Siberian railway and the Rocky Mountain railroad. Accommodations are comfortable, around a premium level, with options to upgrade.

Active Expeditions - For those who enjoy a bit more of an adrenaline pumping and active travel experience, National Geographic also has trips for you. These trips feature multiple active outings, such as kayaking, hiking, and caving. Expect to explore the outdoors covering unique natural phenomena and gaining insight into how and why the landscape has been shaped the way it has. These trips also feature cultural insights, just to a lesser extent.

Launched in 1999, National Geographic Expeditions now operates hundreds of trips each year, spanning all seven continents and more than 60 destinations.

Since its founding in 1888, the Society has developed incredible resources—from its network of experts, contacts, and Society-sponsored researchers all over the globe, to the top-tier editorial staff of National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler magazines, and the books, maps, and film and television divisions. Photo workshops are led by a National Geographic photographer and include instruction and daily photo shoots. Students in our community service programs live in a village and work with community members on a variety of service projects. On each expedition and field workshop, students get involved in a unique, hands-on project that allows them to delve deeper into a specific topic—such as photography, wildlife and conservation, filmmaking, or archaeology—and further engage with the places they visit.

Nat Geo Day Tour: La Geria, Vineyards that Sprouted from Fire

Lanzarote - Nat Geo Day Tour: La Geria, Vineyards that Sprouted from Fire

When Timanfaya's six long years of eruptions ceased in 1736, the farmers of La Geria believed their fertile lands were lost forever under a thick layer of ash. But the local families needed to make the land productive again, and through sheer hard work and determination, they succeeded in creating the vineyards of La Geria. You'll start off with a scenic walk, following trails through private vineyards belonging to the family-owned bodega of Nacho Romero, opened exclusively for National Geographic travellers. As you soak up the unique character of these landscapes where vineyards are surrounded by volcanoes, the owner will explain how the layer of volcanic ash, known locally as ‘picón,' has shaped their cultivation methods, which are unique in the world. If you are lucky enough to find them ripe, you might even get to pick grapes straight from the vine as you hear Nacho or his wife Luisa, both winemakers, talk about the characteristics of volcanic wine. Back at the bodega after the walk, you'll be able to sample one of the artisanal wines that Nacho and Luisa make in their home winery. Next, you'll head to Bodega La Geria – another important component of the ecological wine making movement. The winemaker himself will show you around the bodega. Find out the secrets of the hollows, called ‘zocos' which shelter the vines from the wind, and discover the different varieties of grapes that thrive in Lanzarote's volcanic terroir. To finish, savour a tasting of one of the estate's renowned wines with local cheese and crackers.

Lanzarote - Nat Geo Day Tour: Volcanic Beauty of Lanzarote, Photography Tour

Become a visual storyteller under the guidance of your National Geographic-trained photography guide. You'll pick up invaluable insights on capturing the perfect shot, be it in terms of composition, lighting, or narrative. After introducing the competitive element of the day, your guide will take you to Timanfaya National Park, and the first vantage point – on top of a volcano. Timanfaya's lunar landscapes were formed hundreds of years ago, when a series of volcanic eruptions covered a quarter of the island in lava. Think rugged lava fields, brooding volcanic cones, and swathes of charcoal-grey ash. Travelling on to the fishing village of El Golfo, you will find a jumble of traditional buildings and bright boats which contrast with the black sand beach and the unusual green lake. It's a perfect location for capturing contrasting color. Then, it's time to discover the ancient salt flats of Salinas de Janubio, another landscape saturated with drama and stark appeal. This area is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and an important bird sanctuary - a paradise for your shutterbug instincts. With a specialist photographer at your side, you'll gain new skills and fresh inspiration, plus a collection of captivating images. As the day concludes on the terrace at Salinas de Janubio, unwind over a glass of wine or beer and a light snack, while your photography guide reviews the day's photos. The best image of the day gets crowned the winning shot, an exciting ending to an enriching photographic journey.

Photographer Isn’t About Photography at All

Don't be fooled, National Geographic's new series Photographer isn't about analyzing images. Talk of lighting, depth of field, and good angles is minimal. Instead, it's an examination of what compels a person to do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot. They “work hard to the point of death,” says fashion photographer Campbell Addy, and Photographer aims to illustrate why.

The docuseries, which premieres this week on National Geographic, Disney+ , and Hulu , features six episodes, each one an hour-long journey into one photographer's process as they work on a particular project. Having been a WIRED photo editor for some 20 years, I've hired many photographers, and still there were secrets I didn't know about the deep strife of many shoots.

Generally, when people think of NatGeo, they imagine documentary footage of wildlife in jungles and the Australian Outback. Photographer has some of that traditional NatGeo style, but instead of tigers or marsupials the camera is trained on the photographers themselves. It’s about watching the photographer hunt—as Krystle Wright does while chasing tornadoes—or avoid prey, like Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier do while capturing big oil rigs.

Each episode starts with a specific assignment and then goes deeper into the personal lives of the photographer. Mental health is a frequent topic. Love, too: love of family, the ocean, the thrill. Love for that exact moment when they know they got the shot, a feeling I’ve experienced vicariously often. Photographer ’s mission, really, isn’t to show you beautiful photos; it’s to show you what it took to get them.

Insecurity also prevails. So does obsession with getting it perfect. They have a vision from the start. “Is it good enough?” asks Addy in reference to the results of any of his assignments.

NatGeo’s new show also goes deep on just how wrong a photoshoot can go. In science photographer Anand Varma’s episode, he struggles with a time lapse of a hatching chick. Addy finds himself contending with his first solo exhibition. Despite this, they both emphasize they must get their client—usually someone, like me, sitting comfortably distant from the hassles—what they want.

There are so many similarities in these episodes, even though the genres of each photographer vary, from war to wildlife to celebrity portraits. These artists want perfection, and not just for their client but for their own sense of self, so they can move on to the next project in peace.

Dan Winters, who is a WIRED contributor, makes photographs for everything from celebrity profiles to reportage; he even dabbles in illustration. Like the other Photographer photographers, he has a process. A specific one that leads to success, every time. Prior to this series, I had no idea he was not alone in his obsessive and meticulous tinkering on photo shoots.

Image may contain Wristwatch Photography Accessories Glasses Adult Person Clothing Hat Face Head and Bracelet

Winters is the perfect photographer to be featured in one of these episodes, which all go a step beyond uncovering their subjects’ methods. There’s a very tender moment between him and his son, Dylan, 30, who feels hurt about being the center of his father’s photography his entire life. It made me wonder about my own daughter and having her be the subject of my photographs, from birth through yesterday. Does she feel the same way that Dylan does? One day I may get my answer the way Winters does.

Muhammed Muheisen risks his life in the deep hell of war and has won a Pulitzer Prize for his bravery—but at what cost? “To be known, you had to stand in the middle of the fire,” Muheisen says. There is so much emotion and self-awareness along his journey. At one point, while capturing images of conflicts in the Middle East, he says he saw the “color” of the people who were not fighting, but surviving war. “I want to share these colors with the world,” he says.

A photographer’s hunger for engineering the ultimate shot is insatiable. You don’t have to be an artist to appreciate the process. It resonates with everyone. Even Krystle Wright, an adventure photographer, says she used to say yes to everything. As she grew as a photographer and attempted to balance her personal life with that of someone who constantly has a camera in her hand, she notes that you “don’t have to say yes to everything.” Sometimes the work says yes to you.

A Month in the Life of Reindeer Herders

About this time of year, professional reindeer herders and tourists alike get together to celebrate Reindeer Herders’ Day across the Yamal region of Russia. Lasso throwing, sled racing, and reindeer meat eating abound.

a Nenet herder holding up a lasso made of cow skin

Photographer Dmitry Tkachuk, who was born and still lives in Tyumen’, Russia, wanted to do a story on the event, so he traveled to one in Nadym. While he was there he met the Nenets, who are nomadic herders in northern Arctic Russia. He wanted to know more about their lives following reindeer on the tundra, so he asked them if he could come along.

a darkened chum at night, seen from inside

They agreed. Tkachuk traveled with the Nenets through the Gulf of Ob to the village of Yar-Sale on the Yamal Peninsula. Their way of life isn’t easily observed—the region they inhabit is extremely remote. When Tkachuk was with them, he said the nearest settlement was almost a hundred miles away.

Nenet women and a baby inside a chum

In Nenet culture, herding is traditionally a man’s job, but Tkachuk was more impressed by the women. “They carry all the household responsibilities,” he says. “They put up tents and disassemble them, they cook, they collect wood, they split wood, they burn it, and they make all the clothes.”

“This is a very hard way of life,” he says. The Nenets endure temperatures as cold as minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit at nighttime, and they’re basically in a permanent state of exercise—between constantly rebuilding their chums (rawhide tents), keeping warm, and herding reindeer.

a Nenet child bundled up in traditional clothing and standing outside a chum

The cold was hard on Tkachuk, but his hosts shared their deerskin clothes with him—hide is one of the only materials that can withstand the extreme temperatures. It’s so insulated that he says walking a hundred feet or so in it is enough to get warmed up. And when a short walk isn’t enough, there’s always work. At one point, he says, “I was so cold that in order to warm up I had to go catch reindeer and put harnesses on them.”

a warmly dressed Nenet bending over a small lit stove

His camera didn’t handle the cold as well as he did. He had to take special care that his breath didn’t create ice on the LCD screen, and when he entered a chum he had to remove the batteries and warm the camera over the wood stove to prevent condensation from forming on it.

Tkachuk traveled with the Nenets for a month, learning the rhythms of their routine. “I wore their national dress, harnessed deer, roamed, didn’t bathe, and ate raw meat. I did everything as the Nenets do.” In the end, he said his favorite part of the experience was something that can’t really be pinned down. “I better understood their freedom.”

Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin Play Matchmakers With Nat Geo Series Pairing Doc Filmmakers With Photographers

Anand Varma

After making their first narrative feature “Nyad,” which debuted last year and earned Oscar nominations for the film’s stars Annette Bening and Jodie Foster, Academy Award winning directors Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi (“Free Solo”) are returning to their documentary roots with “Photographer.”

To bring each of the National Geographic photographers’ stories to life, showrunners Chin and Vasarhelyi hired six veteran documentary filmmakers: Marshall Curry (“Racing Dreams”), Crystal Kayiza (“Rest Stop”), Sam Pollard (“MLK/FBI”), Kristi Jacobson (“Solitary”) Rita Baghdadi (“Sirens”) and Pagan Harleman (“The Trade”), who was also served as the series’ showrunner/executive producer.

“We were really trying to pair world class documentary filmmakers with world class photographers and see what would happen,” says Chin. “We gave the filmmakers some space to look at which photographers would resonate or which stories resonated with them the most. But in a lot of ways we thought that intersecting these two great creatives together from the filmmaking side and from the photography side would be a really cool experiment.”

Chin and Vasarhelyi directed the series’ first episode about acclaimed ocean photographers and partners Nicklen and Mittermeier. The episode demonstrates how the photog duo aims to raise awareness through their art and nonprofit organization, SeaLegacy. Chin and Vasarhelyi follow Nicklen and Mittermeier as they travel by boat to the Bahamas to take on oil drilling and document the recently discovered seagrass beds there.

In the series’ second episode,  the focus is on Varma’s devotion to developing innovative techniques to create intimate, dramatic and surprising images of nature. Curry chose to follow Varma due the photographer’s decision to look away “from the obvious thing.”

“I love pictures of elephants, war footage and movie stars and that charismatic stuff as much as the next person,” says Curry. “But there’s something about that worldview of somebody who just says, ‘That’s not what I’m focusing on. I’m going to focus on a frog.’ I loved that about Anand — his, ‘Hey, there’s something amazing here if you will just sit quietly with me and look at this tidal pool.’ It’s something you would normally just walk right past because it’s not the big ocean. It’s not the blue whale. Instead it’s like a little tongue sticking up out of a barnacle in a tidal pool. That was beautiful and extraordinary and it makes you feel things.”

In the series’ fifth episode, Jacobson chronicles Wright, who after a decade of traveling the world and shooting extreme sports stunts, experiences an unexpected medical emergency that forces her to slow down and reevaluate her life. Jacobson captures Wright as she re-enters the industry to chase tornados in the American southwest and create images in Moab, Utah. Viewers witness Wright’s struggle to balance her ambition to create innovative works with her newly discovered desire to nurture herself and have a true home.

Nat Geo “sent me some information about Krystal, and then when we got into the Zoom meeting I was like, ‘Do you really want me to tell her story?,'” Jacobson recalls. “This isn’t what I do in terms of the extreme sports piece of it. That conversation was the beginning of this incredible journey and collaboration in which they said to me, ‘We want you to bring who you are and what matters to you, and how you tell stories to this series. Specifically this woman Krystal rather than someone who is experienced in filming the Arctic or climbing and extreme adventure environments.’ I hadn’t really thought of it that way.”

Chin and Vasarhelyi contacted Jacobson two years ago about directing the episode. The idea behind the docuseries immediately interested her.

“Art is messy, but I think that we all share, both the photographers and the filmmakers, a belief in its power,” says Jacobson. “Its power to affect real change whether that is how you are defining yourself or being your authentic self and showing people the way.”

In an age where anyone can take a picture or film whatever they want on their phones, “Photographer” was made in part to remind people what photography can really be.

With this series, “we were really trying to touch on and bring to life just how many different forms photography can take on,” says Vasarhelyi. “We wanted to show the breadth and diversity of photography and of photographers.”

Tyumen Restaurant-Museum "Chum": informative and tasty

Travel tips for ural.

Why do people like to travel? When traveling, all problems are forgotten, and instead, new vivid impressions appear. These notions consist of acquaintance with a different culture, history, and, of course, local cuisine . If you find yourself in Tyumen , you can get it all in one place - in the unique Tyumen Restaurant-Museum "Chum" . Here, you will be told about the life of the indigenous peoples of the Tyumen North and fed with traditional dishes of the national cuisine of the Nenets and Khanty . Thus, your lunch experience will be both  informative and tasty .

Oil in vitro, shaman's tambourine and making wishes

You will see a fragment of the tundra vegetation as soon as you cross the threshold of the restaurant-museum - moss, reindeer moss, juniper . The life of oil workers and geologists during the development of the natural resources of the northern territories of Western Siberia is presented in a separate exposition . Oil industry workers present real oil in vitro. They brought a flask of oil from a new field.

A special place for making wishes is also here, designed by a specially requested shaman . For many years, regular visitors to "Chum" have been taking advantage of this opportunity and claim that their wishes come true. By the way, an authentic shaman's tambourine can be seen in the hall.

There are a great number of exhibits collected by employees on expeditions to Yamal - sleds , oars, fishing and hunting equipment , household and clothing items, and even musical instruments . Besides, some of the guests left gifts, such as a huge boar head and a stuffed lynx . Visitors enjoy taking pictures with the latter.

You will certainly be interested in the story of a deer team . It turns out that the main one of the three is the left deer. The leader is raised from infancy - this is a very valuable deer. The heart of the restaurant-museum is the chum (sort of a house), built in accordance with all the rules. In the north , women usually make chum because men are occupied with deer.

Impressive exotic of northern cuisine

© Tyumen Restaurant-Museum "Chum"/ Nikolai Yuzhanin

The main components of the national cuisine of the northern peoples are meat , fish,  and berries . Much of what is eaten in camps seems  exotic to the urban man. For example, to compensate for the lack of vitamins, the Nenets drink the blood of a freshly killed deer and eat its raw liver . But there are also less intense dishes that have won the hearts and stomachs of foreigners.

Stroganinas  are  thin slices of frozen fish or meat , like chips. P e ople of different nationalities enjoy Stroganina from muksun or nelma. Khanty and Nenets usually eat stroganina with macalo - a mixture of salt and pepper. Meat is eaten with lingonberry sauce . In the restaurant-museum "Chum," you will be served stroganina on a block of ice so that a piece melts in your mouth and not on a plate.

Northern peoples have always procured fish for the future. In winter there were no problems - the whole Yamal is one large refrigerator, but in the short northern summer, salted or dried fish needs to be well stored. A very few people today will refuse a piece of salted nelma or some Sosvinian herrings .

With the formation of factories where hunters and fishermen could exchange their prey for the necessary goods, the menu of the Nenets and Khanty became more diverse as flour appeared. Women began to bake fritters , adding grated caviar or deer blood to the dough. In the Restaurant-Museum "Chum", national fritters made from unleavened dough are prepared with completely acceptable additives - temyan, pike caviar, bird cherry flour, or pine nuts .

Khanty and Nenets have always been wonderful hunters. The restaurant's menu contains meat of wild animals and birds . Boar or goose ? Maybe a stewed bear ? The choice is yours! By visiting this restaurant-museum , you will not only learn a lot of interesting things about the life of the peoples of the North  but also make sure that the harsh northern nature can become the source of the most vivid gastronomic impressions . You will remember this visit to the Tyumen Restaurant-Museum "Chum" as informative and tasty .
