10 travel memberships that are worth the money

Leila Najafi

November 11, 2021 // By Leila Najafi

The Salon at PS

We live in a subscription-obsessed world and there’s a subscription for everything you can imagine, from razors to clothing and even hot sauces. Travel memberships are on the rise, providing new ways to ease some of the stress that comes with traveling these days and help make the journey more seamless.

Whether you’re willing to pay a premium for exclusive travel experiences that provide a little more privacy or you're more budget-conscious and want to find the best travel deals, there’s a membership for every type of traveler. Here are 10 travel memberships that are worth considering.

Wheels Up King Air 350i on runway

Wheels Up offers private jet charter memberships so travelers can access a fleet of aircrafts, including a King Air 350i, an 8-passenger Citation Excel/XLS, and one of the fastest aircrafts, the Citation X. Wheels Up uses a dynamic pricing model offering competitive rates, so members can book flights on-demand with the flexibility to pay as they go.

Additional m embership benefits include invites to signature events, President’s Circle status with Hertz, a complimentary trial of Inspirato Club subscription for 12 months (Core members only), certain perks at select Waldorf Astoria hotels across North America, a partnership with Delta SkyMiles, dedicated partnership rates with Porsche and more.

Membership cost: Three membership options are available – Connect, Core and Business. The Connect membership requires a one-time initiation fee of $2,995 and annual dues of $2,495 which begin on year two. The Core membership has an initiation fee of $17,500 and annual dues of $8,500 which begin on year two. The Business membership requires an initiation fee of $29,500 and $14,500 for subsequent years and includes up to six lead passengers.

A private suite at PS at LAX

Getting through airport security lines can be a drag, especially during holiday weekends and a pandemic that has increased the demand for more seclusion when traveling. PS (formerly known as Private Suite) is designed for first and business class travelers who are seeking privacy and convenience, allowing them to bypass LAX altogether.

Travelers check into a private terminal where they can relax in a fully-stocked luxury private suite that includes complimentary in-suite meals catered by h.wood Group , as well as additional services upon request such as in-suite massages, manicures and detailing services for personal cars. PS also provides a designated on-site TSA and Customs agent for expedited screening.

Upon boarding, travelers are transported across the tarmac directly to their aircraft in a BMW 7 Series sedan. Earlier this year, the Salon at PS launched, which features a new full-service lounge at the terminal for travelers who want the same benefits of PS but seek a more social experience.

Membership cost: Annual membership costs $4,500, which gives members access to a preferred rate of $3,250 for a one-way Suite experience for up to four travelers. The Salon is available to members and non-members for $695 per use per person.

Vail Grand View Great Room

Inspirato is a subscription-based luxury travel service that gives members exclusive access to over 150,000 luxury vacation homes and resorts around the world that are staffed by Inspirato. There are two membership types: Inspirato Club and Inspirato Pass. The former gives you access to the luxury residences and hotels around the world, on-site concierge and daily housekeeping with additional benefits such as late check-in and check-out, room upgrades, spa credits and more. However, members also pay nightly room rates.

With the Inspirato Pass, you automatically get the benefits of Inspirato Club plus nightly rates are already factored into the price of membership, so you can book as many vacations as possible in one month with one active reservation at a time. There is also no long-term commitment, so you can cancel the membership at any time.

Membership cost: Inspirato Club membership is $600/month plus a $600 enrollment fee and you pay nightly rates as you go. Inspirato Pass is a flat rate of $2,500/month which includes all hotel stays.

Scott’s Cheap Flights

Scott and Brian

A membership to Scott’s Cheap Flights includes flight deals and “Mistake Fares” accidentally published by airlines sent straight to your inbox. The team scours the internet for the lowest published airfare rates to popular destinations and shares them with members.

Subscribers can also track deals from a specific airport close to home or destinations of interest. A membership to Scott’s Cheap Flights is best for travelers who have flexibility on the destination and dates and are willing to fly based on low airfare rates. Flight deals don’t last long so you’ll have to act fast.

Membership cost: There are three membership tiers including Limited which is free, Premium costs $49/year and Elite $199/year.

PRIOR was started by a former travel editor who saw a gap in the market for travelers wanting a more immersive experience during their vacation. A team of experienced travel editors and local tastemakers on the ground design itineraries for curious travelers.

A PRIOR WORLD membership includes access to curated destination guides, unique local experiences in cities around the world, pre-planned group trips led by experts and for an additional fee, the team can create a custom itinerary based on your interests.

If you're a frequent traveler, PRIOR BESPOKE might be the membership better suited for you. For a flat fee per year, members get unlimited trip planning by their expert team of travel editors and membership managers.

Membership cost: PRIOR WORLD membership costs $249 per annum. PRIOR BESPOKE is $5,000 per annum.

Priority Pass

The Club MCO Lounge at Orlando International Airport, accessible via Priority Pass

Airport terminals may have come a long way in the last decade, but killing time for a three-hour layover in a crowded airport isn’t exactly on anyone’s list of things to do, especially on vacation. Trade the busy terminals for private lounge access with Priority Pass and enjoy guaranteed Wi-Fi and snacks.

Members of Priority Pass receive access to over 1,300 airport lounges globally, including several airline lounges such as Virgin Atlantic, Air France and Turkish Airlines. Several credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, American Express Platinum and Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express offer free Priority Pass memberships as part of their member benefits.

Membership cost: Choose from three membership tiers which start at $99/year for the Standard membership plus $32 per visit and go up to $429/year for the Prestige membership which includes unlimited lounge visits.

CLEAR touchless identification

TSA Pre-Check and Global Entry are services that allow travelers to expedite the security screening process upon departure and arrival. With CLEAR Plus, enrolled members get escorted to the front of the security line once they’ve been verified using facial recognition or fingerprint scans, so they no longer have to verify identification at security. However, for expedited clearance through security screenings, TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry are still required.

CLEAR uses biometric identifiers to create a unique ID assigned to each member that is used for verification at stations across airports, stadiums and other major venues nationwide.

Membership cost: A CLEAR Plus membership is $179 per year. American Express Platinum Card Members receive a $179 statement credit and United MileagePlus members receive a discounted membership rate.

Well Traveled

Well Traveled Lists

Well Traveled is a members-only social and booking platform that allows members to connect with friends to find and share travel recommendations. The community-driven platform is intended to make travel planning easier by allowing you to follow people in your network that you trust, in addition to other like-minded travelers who share similar budgets and travel preferences.

Members can also take advantage of the personalized booking service that includes perks like exclusive rates, room upgrades, food & beverage credits, complimentary breakfast and more. Currently, membership is invite-only but you can also apply to be considered.

Membership cost: $150 per year.

Travel + Leisure Club

T+L Club login

Travel + Leisure Club is a new travel subscription service offered by Travel + Leisure Group. Members can pay a monthly fee for access to preferred pricing on curated itineraries and an average of 25% savings on hotels, resorts, car rentals and activities that are listed on Travel + Leisure GO, the online travel booking site. Plus, members get a subscription to the glossy print magazine.

Members also get access to a personal concierge that can assist with travel planning, scoring tickets to sold-out events, making dinner reservations and more.

Membership cost: Travel + Leisure Club is currently offering an introductory rate of $9.95/month.

Exclusive Resorts

Lake Tahoe Northstar Mountainside Treehouse

Designed for families who value privacy, Exclusive Resorts is a small community of members (only 150 new members accepted each year) that get access to over 350 luxury residences around the world including the Amalfi Coast, Barcelona, Deer Valley, Kaua’i, Los Cabos, St. Barts and more.

Guests enjoy a more personalized experience with a dedicated on-site team who can assist with pre-trip planning details such as stocking the fridge with your favorite snacks, booking a massage or private chef, and housekeeping services.

Membership cost: There is a one-time, non-refundable initiation fee of $150,000 for a 10-year membership. Annual dues are $1,395/night and members travel 15-30 nights per year.

These Private Travel Clubs Are Exclusive — and Affordable

If unrivaled access and seamless planning sound like your style, perhaps it’s time to sign up for a private travel group.

travel club hotel

Andria Gutierrez is a marketing executive in Lake Tahoe, California, who loves to travel — but doesn't love the time suck of researching vacations. "When I was younger, I planned all my own trips," she says. "But now that I own a business, I just don't have the spare hours anymore."

That's why she recently joined Allcall , which offers personalized itineraries and exclusive deals to members. She's already taken three Allcall trips, including a multi-state ski trip and a vacation in Baja California, Mexico. "The team is incredibly helpful and responsive," Gutierrez says. "They make the planning process so efficient."

While some established outfits like Exclusive Resorts and Wheels Up have catered to the ultra-wealthy for years, a number of new clubs are opening their doors. One reason is, of course, a new obsession with safety.

"Health has become the paramount concern of our members," says Melissa Biggs Bradley, founder of Indagare , which plans and books trips for its members. "We have a ton of information on COVID protocols, and the team takes care of understanding those, even as they change all the time."

There are other factors at play. "I'd traveled independently for decades," says Suzy Kellems Dominik, an artist from New York City. But hearing about an opportunity to visit Modena, Italy, with acclaimed chef Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana was enough to convince her to join Prior , a company that started in 2019.

"What's so interesting is that they have this access," Kellems Dominik says. "It's intellectual and emotional travel — the imagination is just endless — and they curated a group of very interesting people who were all like-minded around food."

That ability to open doors is also drawing travelers who don't normally think of themselves as joiners. Around half of all millennials are now considering signing up for some form of travel club, according to one industry survey, outpacing the interest from Gen Xers and baby boomers. Even Exclusive Resorts, which charges an extra hefty fee per day for trips on top of the cost of membership, has seen a surge of interest from young families. In 2020, the company notched its best December in nine years, despite the pandemic.

So which of these clubs is right for you? It all depends on what you're looking for — and how much you're ready to invest.

For Upscale Private Stays

Exclusive Resorts has a portfolio of over 400 vacation homes, plus members-only cruises and expeditions. Inspirato has the keys to villas in over 180 locations; members can also jump aboard cruises arranged by the company. A more affordable choice is Koala , which allows travelers to book one-off stays in timeshares all over the globe.

For a Like-Minded Community

El Camino began as a small-group-trip operator focused on helping women to travel to new places, but has since unveiled El Camino Travel Clubhouse, a platform that allows members to participate in virtual events and chats about upcoming trips. Manifest , which debuted in August 2020, has chapters in cities across the United States. "We create a social aspect, with people getting to know each other outside of just traveling together," founder Jeff Potter says.

For Feel-good Trips

The upstart wellness website and app MyLifeWell went live in 2020 with virtual fitness classes and a selection of workout gear. Now it connects subscribers with travel advisors who specialize in booking wellness retreats at Canyon Ranch properties, among others.

For the Commitment-phobic

The high cost of clubs has historically been a barrier to signing up. But in the spring of 2020, Prior lowered its price tag in an effort to draw together a more diverse group of adventurers. "I don't want a club in the sense of shutting people out," founder David Prior says. Travel + Leisure Co. launched its own affordable subscription club, promising preferential rates and insider experiences around the world.

A version of this story first appeared in the June 2020 issue of Travel + Leisure under the headline Join the Club.

Your complete guide to Club 1 Hotels — including free Gold Rewards subscription for TPG readers

Ashley Onadele

Since we write about travel basically every single day here at TPG, we're often asked which is the best website to use if you want to save money on hotel bookings. The truth is, there isn't one "best" site. There are different answers for different situations: Do you have access to Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts perks ? Do you need to earn/use elite status perks ? How far in advance are you booking? Is it last minute? Where are you going? Which credit cards do you have? Are you sure you aren't using points or free night certificates?

In short, there simply isn't one, single hotel booking site for all situations — but there are a few sites that we recommend checking to quickly get a handle on the best prices.

One of the hotel booking sites we've utilized as a resource for the last few years is Club 1 Hotels . Club 1 Hotels offers access to wholesale rates at more than 1.5 million hotels around the world, and the site can offer as much as 60% off published prices. And to sweeten the deal even more, the company has its own loyalty points program to add to the mix — along with a special offer for a free, one-year Gold Rewards subscription, just for TPG readers who join through this link .

Let's dive into Club 1 Hotels to see how the site may fit into your post-pandemic travel plans.

How Club 1 Hotels offers discounts on hotels

Club 1 Hotels is a leading travel company with the world's largest collection of members-only wholesale hotel rates and direct contracts that are not available to the public. This allows the site to offer its users steeper discounts than other online travel agency sites in certain situations.

While the only way to see what's available is to check for yourself, at times we've found Club 1 Hotels to have the lowest available price at some of the Hyatt all-inclusive properties, including the Hyatt Ziva Cancun — which comes highly recommended from TPG's Summer Hull .

In doing a quick search for values on Club 1 Hotels, we found a good deal on the Ritz-Carlton, Cancun . Checking dates in July, the Club 1 Hotels price for an ocean view room with two beds was $236.23 per night versus Ritz-Carlton's own member rate of $490 per night for the same room. That's a pretty steep discount if you're just looking for a great price without the perks of Marriott status or the opportunity to earn Bonvoy points .

travel club hotel

What does a subscription cost?

Club 1 Hotels has recently removed its previous paid membership requirement, so now anyone can easily register and access savings — all while still earning ClubONE loyalty points. But if you'd like to earn more points and utilize other features such as concierge service and airport lounge subscription, you have the following options to upgrade your membership:

  • $149 per year Annual Concierge Service Subscription: In addition to a personalized concierge service, users can also choose either 5% back in ClubONE points on every hotel booking or the Best Rate Guarantee on every hotel booking, all year.
  • $149 per year Gold Loyalty Subscription: Users will earn 5 ClubONE points for every $1 USD spent on hotels, resorts and car rental bookings — and TPG readers can sign-up for a one-year Gold membership at this link .
  • $199 per year Platinum Loyalty Subscription: Users will earn 10 ClubONE points for every $1 USD spent on hotels, resort and car rental bookings.
  • $79 per year Airport Lounge Subscription upgrade : Users who choose to upgrade to an airport lounge subscription will have access to over 1,200 lounges in 500 cities across 140 countries. This category of upgrade also comes with a $30 credit for large-luggage shipping worldwide from LuggageFree.

Note that we currently have a special offer just for TPG Readers to receive a complimentary Gold-level subscription when registering for a new account. Existing members can use this link to receive the complimentary upgrade.

If you decide not to get a paid subscription, you will still earn 2 ClubONE loyalty points for every $1 USD spent — which can be used for future bookings on the site.

travel club hotel

For those who like Disney like, know that Club 1 Hotels even has access to Disney World Resorts — and yes, they are sometimes cheaper via Club 1 Hotels than booking through Disney. We haven't personally booked a Disney Resort through Club 1 Hotels, so we can't speak to the process of linking the booking to your My Disney Experience, but it is worth checking to see if you might be able to save a few dollars on your next Disney Resort booking. Plus, Club 1 Hotels offers discounts on Disney theme park tickets, attractions and more.

Related: 11 changes to expect at Disney World in 2021

There are booking fees when using Club 1 Hotels, so be sure you're comparing apples to apples by looking at the all-in prices at checkout from different sites.

Look for non-points luxury resorts, home rentals and rental cars

If you have your heart set on a hotel/resort stay at a property that isn't part of a points program, Club 1 Hotels could be your conduit to savings. For example, you'll find properties from high-end hoteliers like Aman, Four Seasons, Belmond, Mandarin Oriental, Six Senses , Shangri-La and others.

travel club hotel

Club 1 also has a database of over 175,000 serviced apartments, homes, villas and other residences in some of the world's most popular destinations. Depending on your travel plans, this could be a great alternative to other vacation-rental sites.

Finally, if you're in the market for a rental car , sort options from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, Sixt and others.

Related: 11 common rental car mistakes — and how to avoid them

When to skip Club 1 Hotels

There are certainly times and reasons to not use Club 1 Hotels. For example, if you need to earn credit toward elite status or want to utilize the perks of existing hotel elite status, that's not the time to use the site. In those cases, book directly with the hotel chain .

There are also times when Club 1 Hotels won't have the hotel you want, or it will cost more than booking directly (though they do have a Best Rate Guarantee — which we'll get to in a minute).

Nevertheless, it always makes sense to investigate the booking options for your travel dates to see if Club 1 Hotels will fit your plans.

Club 1 Hotels Best Rate Guarantee

While no site always has the best rates, Club 1 Hotels does have a Best Rate Guarantee . If you spot a lower rate at the same hotel with the same room type (refundable and non-refundable) up to one day prior to arrival, Club 1 Hotels will beat that rate with the following discounts:

  • $10 per night savings at 3-star hotels up to $20
  • $15 per night savings at 4-star hotels up to $45
  • $20 per night savings at 5-star hotels up to $60 or up to $100 on reservations of $900+

To make a Best Rate Guarantee claim, email [email protected], and they state they will confirm your booking the same day.

Finally, it's worth noting that the Club 1 Hotels website is better than it was a few years ago. We can definitely see that they've made a lot of improvements and added some new features to enhance the user experience.

Bottom line

Finding the best deals in travel is about having lots of different tools at your disposal. One of those tools is having a list of websites to check when you need to book a hotel with cash, and in out mind, Club 1 Hotels should be on the list of sites to check ( here are some other tools ). They aren't a one-size-fits-all solution, but with a free one-year Gold Rewards subscription, they are certainly worth a look.

Best Hotel Executive Club Lounges In Bangkok

Best Hotel Executive Club Lounges In Bangkok

This article reviews Bangkok hotels with the best club or executive lounges. By reviewing each of these club lounges, we conclude which hotel club lounge comes in at the top and which hotel we would select as having the best club lounge in Bangkok.

Luxury hotels in Bangkok include the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, The St. Regis Bangkok, The Peninsula Bangkok, The Siam, The Park Hyatt Bangkok, and the Four Seasons Bangkok At Chao Phraya River . See which ones feature club lounges below, but don’t worry if your preferred hotel doesn’t have a club lounge.

Book via our luxury travel concierge , and you will get all our free VIP benefits, including free breakfast and your usual loyalty points and status benefits at any luxury hotel in Bangkok.

I have compiled a list below containing the club lounges available across luxury hotels in Bangkok. I list the lounges in Bangkok that I consider the best at the top. I will be reviewing each of these hotel club lounges in detail so that you know what you will get if you book a room with club lounge access or get upgraded to a club lounge for free because of your loyalty status.

1. Atheene Hotel, A Luxury Collection of Hotel

Atheene Hotel is a member of the Luxury Collection of Hotels, which is part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. The Royal Club Lounge (pictured above) sits joint first with the InterContinental as Bangkok’s best executive club lounge.

This lounge offers a club room and suite guests an exclusive enclave where they may enjoy a fresh cup of coffee or tea, check emails with complimentary High-Speed Internet Access, conduct a business meeting in the private boardroom, watch multiple flat-screen televisions, or relax over a glass of wine. A private meeting room with a long conference table, modern leather armchairs, and the latest audiovisual equipment is available on a complimentary basis for up to two hours.

Start your morning with a sampling from the delightful continental breakfast buffet. Enjoy a fresh cup of illy coffee or a soft drink during the day. A formal High Tea is served in the afternoon with finger sandwiches and pastries. Or wind down over hors d’oeuvres and drinks from the open bar during evening drinks.

2. InterContinental Bangkok

The InterContinental Bangkok has a Club Intercontinental executive lounge which is one of our favorite brands of club lounge. Just take a look at the Club InterContinental in London !

You really do get special treatment here. 48 hours before your expected arrival, the Club InterContinental manager will contact you to address any needs and preferences that you may have.

If you’ve booked a transfer from the airport, the InterContinental airport concierge will welcome you upon arrival. You’ll also be provided with a tablet pre-loaded with hotel and local information.

The Club InterContinental Lounge, on level 37, comprises separate areas for business discussion and relaxation, light dining, and drinks, all with outstanding views. A library of entertainment options is also available. Enjoy extensive breakfast options, table service, complimentary afternoon tea, and complimentary evening drinks and canapés. Club InterContinental hotel guests are welcome to invite a non-staying guest to join them for dining in the lounge at no additional charge. This is an unusual policy and extremely welcome for guests holding business meetings.

Club InterContinental rooms are also a step above the rest and offer extra space to relax and outstanding views. You’ll likewise enjoy benefits, including complimentary pressing service, Wi-Fi and local calls at no charge, and late check-out (subject to availability).

Club InterContinental guests traveling with children under 12 are invited to enjoy a happy hour at Balcony Lounge, which features a special family set-up.

3. Siam Kempinski Bangkok

This stylish club lounge at the Siam Kempinski Bangkok is located on the 17th floor and has a wonderful atmosphere with floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the skyline views. To gain access, you need to be staying on the Executive Floors.

This Kempinski Executive Lounge offers the ultimate facilities and services, making the trip ultra-special. Services include personalized check-in and check-out, secretarial services, complimentary food and beverages: breakfast, lunch snacks, afternoon tea, evening light meals, and selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Meeting rooms and a private computer station are available.

4. Shangri-La Bangkok

The Horizon Club lounge at Shangri-La Bangkok can be accessed by everyone who books a Horizon club room. As you would expect, this lounge offers hot and cold soft beverages all day, a superb, plus afternoon tea and evening cocktail hour which comes with light bites.

Horizon Club rooms are on the top floors of the Shangri-La Wing, which is the most modern wing of the hotel, and the lounge has enormous floor-to-ceiling windows. Seating is set up as lots of little rooms within one big room for privacy.

Book a river view room here to watch longtail boats and rice barges negotiate the Chao Praya River. The riverside pool is also really good at this hotel as it is right on the waterfront and is surrounded by plants and tropical trees.

5. Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel

The original Four Seasons Bangkok was rebranded as an Anantara hotel back in 2015. Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel & Spa contains 354 guestrooms, seven restaurants and bars, a spa, a gym, an outdoor swimming pool, a ballroom seating up to 550 and extensive meeting and event rooms and of course an executive club lounge that used to be at the top of its game but more recently looks a little dated.

The Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel is located in Rajadamri in the center of Bangkok and opened in 1978 as a Peninsula hotel. It was rebranded as Four Seasons in 2003 and then as Anantara in 2015. Along with the Atheene Hotel below, this hotel offers the two best executive club lounges across all the luxury hotels in Bangkok.

All luxury accommodations at Anantara Siam Bangkok were fully refurbished in 2017, so you can confidently experience a classy stay with elegant furnishings and signature Thai touches. Enjoy neighborhood views while relaxing by the window or soaking in your marble bathtub.

This property is renowned for its indigenous experiences: early-morning alms given by monks or Shopping Gurus, who take you on an exclusive, personalized excursion. The hotel offers world-class dining, including Royal Thai, Italian, Japanese, Steakhouse, and Aqua Bar. The Anantara Spa is where ancient remedies and modern techniques soothe the soul.

The comfy club lounge at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel tends to be a step above the best, in line with its luxury level. Guests of the hotel’s suite categories or Garden Terrace Rooms gain access to Kasara Executive privileges.

Described as “ideal for business travelers as well as leisure guests seeking extra luxuries”, the Kasara Executive Lounge at this Bangkok hotel features a variety of privileges, from express check-in and check-out to complimentary use of private meeting rooms.

The lounge also offers dining options, including a daily buffet breakfast at the Kasara Executive Lounge, a welcome refreshment upon arrival, a coffee/ tea with a wake-up call, pre-dinner canapés in the evening, along with evening drinks. For the rest of the day, all-day snacks and refreshments are available.

Additional club lounge features include complimentary use of one of three private meeting rooms for one hour per stay, two pieces of garment pressing per room per day, unlimited local telephone calls, no surcharge for credit card access calls, Hi-Speed in-room Wi-Fi, use of business center facilities from 6:00 am – 11:00 pm and access to an extensive library with the latest periodicals, newspapers, and reference materials.

6. Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

The Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok club level is also worth paying the upgrade cost. This hotel is well located near to Erawan, Central, and Paragon areas of Bangkok, which is useful, given that temperatures can quite easily reach a high of 38 degrees. However, the hotel is really large, so the service tends to be impersonal, reflecting on your overall experience at this hotel.

On the club level, you feel special again in their hotel-within-a-hotel environment. This lounge has a great view and is configured much like a restaurant, with many dining tables and chairs in booths. Rooms on the club level and the regular rooms are all of a decent standard, although club rooms tend to be larger. Whilst the lounge is not desperately stylish, it has been decorated in a standard Hyatt style, which is pleasing rather than mindblowing. You get a complimentary breakfast, which consists of plenty of fruit, smoked salmon, meats and cheeses, yogurts, juices, bread, muffins, and pastries, as well as cereals. There is also an omelet bar, salad bar, juice bar, and coffee station.

The Grand Club gets pretty crowded during the evening cocktails, so be sure to pop in early to get a nice seat. You get light canapés (not really sufficient for dinner) and some super little custardy, chocolatey desserts in glass cups. The personalized club level concierge in the lounge always bothers to recognize and greet guests, and it’s this kind of special treatment that will keep you coming back. The other super thing about this hotel is the beautiful pool with a large decked terrace and comfy padded wooden loungers, which offer the perfect place to relax and escape from frenetic Bangkok.

Whilst this is not the best club lounge in Bangkok, we feel that for the money, this hotel offers good value with a good quality lounge. Hence our placing this lounge in position 4. To be honest, there isn’t a great deal to choose between this lounge, the JW Marriott lounge, and the Sofitel lounge, so it’s worth working out which is the cheapest before making your final decision.

7. JW Marriott Bangkok

JW Marriott Bangkok club lounge is one of the best in Bangkok and is a great place to earn and redeem your Marriott Bonvoy points. The hotel is the first stop on Sukhumvit Rd, the center of the city near Soi 2. This JW Marriott is a big hotel located near Nana’s nightlife and crowds. The hotel is stylish, in a Marriot-way, with comfy beds and good blackout curtains. The club lounge can be found on the 16th floor, and the entrance is decorated with pretty flower arrangements – a nice touch. Inside, there is an open kitchen, lots of dark wood, a light marble floor, and an outdoor terrace to enjoy a meal outside or for smokers to have a cigarette (which is not ideal for non-smokers who want some fresh air).

Breakfast includes an array of bread, croissants, and bagels, with loads of fruit and cereals. A real-life chef cooks made-to-order omelets (which meats preheated eggs that you will get in other lounges).

JW Marriott Bangkok Executive Club Room

Each night, complimentary cocktails, including beer and wine, are available. A variety of hot food, as well as salads, cheeses, and desserts, are also available. Each night has a different theme of cuisine, e.g., Japanese with sushi. For each meal, you get more than two hot appetizers, and you’ll find options like fish cakes, sushi, and sliders. This food is more than enough to fill you up, so you don’t need to head out for an extra evening meal.

The JW offering is comparable to the Grand Hyatt Erawan above and the Sofitel Sukhumvit. Still, it offers a better location and more spacious rooms, though the JW Marriott is not as new as the Sofitel or the Hyatt, so it can look tatty in places.

Moscow Hotel & Travel Guide

Moscow, the entrancing capital of Russia, is a hub of science, culture, and education. Lingering monuments from the USSR era lend a fascinating glimpse into Russia's Soviet history, while remnants of its imperial past hearken back to the days of the tsars. Book yourself on one of many flights to Moscow , take your pick of the Moscow hotels, and prepare to be amazed by this dynamic and alluring city.

Out and About in Moscow

No trip to Moscow would be complete without a stop in the legendary Red Square. Gaze up at the candy-striped spires of St. Basil's Cathedral and stop by to take a picture of Lenin's Mausoleum. Visit the numerous museums and cathedrals within the red walls of the Kremlin, and even peek at the presidential palace. If you're in an artistic mood, the Tretyakov Gallery houses the finest collection of Russian art in the world, and the Bolshoi Theatre is renowned for its superlative ballet and opera. Even traveling between attractions and hotels in Moscow is an experience: The exceptionally beautiful and efficient metro is famous worldwide.

Eating and Drinking

You can find dining options for any budget along the Arbat, one of the most famous streets in the city. There are cuisines for any taste, but if it's traditional Russian food you're seeking, be sure to try some pelmeni (a type of dumpling), borscht (beet soup), or a shashlik (a Russian kebab). Blini, a sort of thin pancake, can be ordered with sweet or savory fillings and is a staple of the local cuisine. As for drinks, it isn't all vodka! Tea is one of the most common beverages, and you should also take the opportunity to try kvas, a fermented drink made from black or rye bread. Ready for your Russian adventure? Travelocity can help you find cheap hotels in Moscow and all the best Moscow vacation packages so you have more time to read up on all the great Russian literature before your trip.

11 Relaxing Hotels With In-Room Spas

<p>As travelers increasingly seek <a href="https://business.yougov.com/content/44712-travel-tourism-insights-roundup-2022-part-1">wellness</a> on their trips, hotels continue to elevate their spa facilities to offer everything from <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@visit/video/7179296973776899334?lang=en">immersive storm rooms</a> to <a href="https://www.kimptonblythswoodsquare.com/spa-glasgow/thermal-experience/">contrast bathing</a> (where guests alternate between hot and cold water). What the Lifestyle Suite at <a href="https://www.raffles.com/london/">Raffles London</a> lacks in spa facilities, it makes up for in wellness amenities. Light training equipment is provided in the room’s dedicated fitness and yoga space, as well as Normatec recovery boots, weighted blankets, and fragrance-activated technology which releases calming scents at night and energizing aromas in the morning. Guests of this wellness-oriented suite also get access to in-room Guerlain spa treatments, nutritional menus, and private training sessions. The suite is one of 120 guest rooms recently transformed by the late designer Thierry Despont. Located inside the Old War Building’s former state rooms, the spaces were once used as the offices of notable political figures like Sir Winston Churchill or as a <em>James Bond</em> filming site. The recently opened hotel—the first Raffles property in the UK—also offers restorative wellness experiences at the 27,000-square-foot <a href="https://www.raffles.com/london/guerlain-spa/">Guerlain Spa</a>.<p>Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest in design, decorating, celebrity style, shopping, and more.</p><a href="https://www.architecturaldigest.com/newsletter/subscribe?sourceCode=msnsend">Sign Up Now</a>

After 20 years of using contrast bathing to relieve muscle tension as a dancer at the National Ballet of Canada, Brett van Sickle was inspired to create a wellness boutique inn with in-room spas. Each of <a href="https://www.thehighacre.com/">the High Acre’</a>s four guest rooms has its own infrared sauna, hammam, and large soaker tubs for ice baths. Rooms also come with a massage gun, essential oil diffuser, LED face mask, and private meditations recorded by Sickle’s partner, a meditation teacher, for a complete self-catered spa experience.<p>Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest in design, decorating, celebrity style, shopping, and more.</p><a href="https://www.architecturaldigest.com/newsletter/subscribe?sourceCode=msnsend">Sign Up Now</a>

Built in 1918 as a residence for immigrant employees of Kohler’s first factories, <a href="https://www.destinationkohler.com/lodging/the-american-club/the-american-club-rooms-and-suites">the American Club</a> doubles as a showroom for the plumbing company’s latest innovations in hydrotherapy. Few rooms exemplify this better than the Eau de Vie Suite, which offers a custom shower with a digital thermostatic valve to control the temperature and turn the shower into a steam room. With water that flows over the sides of the tub and chromatherapy (color light therapy), the bathtub turned infinity pool is a full hydrotherapy experience. A four-paneled glass fireplace separates the bathroom from the suite’s canopy bed. Bath lovers will want to visit <a href="https://www.destinationkohler.com/well-being/kohler-water-spa">Kohler Waters Spa</a>, where they can have an immersive bath treatment like the Acoustic Bath, in which vibrations from the tub synchronize with the body’s heartbeats to calm the nervous system.<p>Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest in design, decorating, celebrity style, shopping, and more.</p><a href="https://www.architecturaldigest.com/newsletter/subscribe?sourceCode=msnsend">Sign Up Now</a>

  • Wells Fargo recently announced new travel partners, increasing the value of Wells Fargo Rewards.

Insider Today

Wells Fargo recently announced a brand-new Autograph Rewards Points Transfer program, introducing five airlines and one hotel chain as its inaugural transfer partners.

Cardholders who have Wells Fargo-branded credit cards that earn cash or points will be able to share, pool, and transfer their rewards across accounts and with travel partners on April 4, 2024.

Here's what we know so far about the brand-new transfer partners.

Wells Fargo Partners: The Basics

Wells Fargo has six transfer partners: Five airline frequent flyer programs and one hotel program.

Wells Fargo Rewards will transfer at a 1:1 ratio to all of the airline loyalty programs: 1,000 Wells Fargo points will be 1,000 airline miles.

Rewards transfer at a 1:2 ratio to the Choice Privileges hotel program: 1,000 Wells Fargo points will become 2,000 Choice Privileges points.

Rewards from the new Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Visa® Card and the legacy Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card will be eligible for the Points Transfer program, according to Wells Fargo. Cardholders of the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card and the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card should also be able to convert cash rewards by transferring them to travel partners.

Wells Fargo Points Transfer Airline Partners

Aer lingus aerclub.

Aer Lingus is the flagship airline of Ireland, and offers generous rates for economy and premium class travel to Europe. The airline's award chart includes one-way economy flights for as few as 16,250 Avios.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue

The Flying Blue loyalty program is jointly shared by Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and allows award travelers to find some great sweet spots for travel around the world. Flying Blue fans can often find transatlantic sale fares that require as little as 15,000 points one way in economy.

avianca lifemiles

Avianca is a Colombian airline, and lifemiles are extremely valuable for booking reasonably priced award flights to and from Latin America. Avianca is part of the Star Alliance airline network, which includes United Airlines. This means you can also use lifemiles to book flights for domestic travel within the U.S. at very low rates.

British Airways Executive Club

British Airways is part of the Oneworld alliance, which includes American Airlines. The ability to transfer Wells Fargo points to British Airways unlocks your access to this giant network of airlines, which includes 14 carriers serving dozens of countries and territories. British Airways charges pricy fuel surcharges and fees, so this loyalty program isn't your best bet for long-haul travel. But you can find some good deals if you convert points to British Airways Avios, then redeem them on partner award flights for low-cost travel to Hawaii and Europe.

Iberia Plus

Iberia is Spain's flagship airline, and the Iberia Plus program frequently offers great deals to and from Europe during low-peak travel times, such as the winter months before and after December.

Wells Fargo Points Transfer Hotel Partners

Choice privileges .

The Choice Hotels brand encompasses more than 7,500 properties worldwide. Wells Fargo points transfer at a 1:2 ratio to Choice Privileges, so remember to double the number of points you can transfer to your hotel account when tallying up your credit card rewards.

Wells Fargo Transfer Partner Frequently Asked Questions

As of March 2024, Wells Fargo has six travel partners that will accept Wells Fargo rewards as airline miles or hotel points. Eligible cardholders can transfer points to Choice Privileges, Aer Lingus AerClub, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, avianca lifemiles, British Airways Executive Club, and Iberia Plus starting April 4, 2024.

Wells Fargo Rewards can be redeemed as cash back, issued as a statement credit to offset your credit card balance, or transferred to travel partners beginning April 2024.

Business Insider values Wells Fargo Rewards points at 1.3 cents apiece on average, with a low threshold of 1 cent apiece and a high threshold of 1.6 cents apiece. Thus, 20,000 Wells Fargo Rewards points would be worth $260 on average.

This hawaii hotel is trying to bring some modern-day culture to waikiki.

Mahina & Sun's is located adjacent to the hotel's infamous "Wish You Were Here" pool, which has made ... [+] the rounds on social media.

Many hotels in Hawaii are intensely focused on bringing more traditional Hawaiian culture to their properties. But one Waikiki hotel is focusing on a different kind of culture - one that represents the present, not the past.

You can tell that The Surfjack Hotel on Lewers Street is different from its corporate counterpoints in Waikiki just by walking inside its front entrance.

The boutique property shines with distinct personality and color, its front desk located adjacent to its pool, or Swim Club, as its called.

But dive in, and the story gets more interesting.

One evening, after a long day of guiding a group around the island, I meet up with an old friend at Mahina & Sun’s , the Surfjack’s pool-side bar and restaurant.

Perusing the drink menu, I’m surprised both by what I see - martinis, barrel-aged negronis, piscola, aquafaba - and also by what I don’t see. I make a comment to our server that I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a drink menu in this neighborhood that didn’t include a classic mai tai.

Google Makes Another Surprise New Offer To Pixel 8 Buyers

Another look basketball star jeremy lin suspended over blood treatment, exactly when to see the worm moon eclipse set up america s total solar eclipse.

“That’s by design,” he tells me.

Turns out the server is Christian Taibi , the “Executive Bar Czar” of the restaurant. We start to chat a little bit, and he tells me he’s from New York City originally. Big change, I say, do you miss it?

“Only when I’m hungry,” he says.

It was an odd comment for a man that works in the heart of Waikiki, where one can walk to dozens of restaurants in a matter of minutes.

'Bar Czar' Christian Taibi is tired of the generic offerings most visitors find in Waikiki.

Upon further prodding, Taibi says that while it is easy to find a restaurant in Waikiki, it’s difficult to find one that isn’t latching on to some kind of status quo, some eras past idea of what tourists want to eat, drink, and experience when coming to Hawaii. Think blue-colored cocktails, or a cheeseburger in paradise.

“When we looked around at our community [of Waikiki], there seemed to be a void – not many spots were considering the little details as much, [things like the] lights, music, atmosphere, cocktails, or even the food,” Taibi said.

“When I dug deeper, I felt that not much was organic. Concepts weren’t created by the local talent and talented bartenders existed, but weren’t utilized. Why was this? My thought was that there were different agendas at play not focused on creating culture, and instead focused on beach front experiences holding on to the status quo,” he said.

Mahina & Sun's offerings a trendy, modern take on the classic Hawaiian tiki setting.

In other words, not many places had “heart,” he said. And so when he came to work for the Surfjack and Mahina & Sun’s, he and his team had strong convictions of wanting to create something different - something that showed Waikiki could evolve past the preferences of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

That’s not to say they are doing away with Hawaiian traditions entirely. Rather, the idea is to mold them into something that honors the tradition, but doesn’t get lost in it. The Coconut Pork Shoulder Luau, for example, spices up a traditionally bland dish by adding coconut, tomato, onions, and other house-made accoutrements.

The Mahina Family Feast is a family-style option that serves a whole fish alongside house-made sides like sesame bok choy, cucumber ume salad, pickles and rice - once again, a modern way of featuring a traditional Hawaiian meal.

There are also more adventurous options, like the a’u crudo, the local name for Blue Marlin - a fish you don’t typically see on local menus.

“We take pride in moving these Hawaiian culinary traditions forward by presenting a dish that not only respects its roots, but also evolves for the palates of tomorrow,” Taibi said.

The Mahina Family Feast is a modern take on a throwback Hawaiian meal, where families would gather ... [+] around whole fish caught fresh from the sea.

The cocktail menu is where even someone who has been around the block in Waikiki will really see the difference.

The Kahiko cocktail is “a New York Old Fashioned that embarked on a one-way trip to Hawaii,” stirring local whiskey, cinnamon syrup, and tiki bitters over a coconut water ice cube. And the “deconstructed” martini menu is truly something unique.

The Surfjack’s quest to bring some modern-day culture to Waikiki also entails a loaded programming and event calendar , including live nightly music, themed dance parties, markets, and penthouse events (affordable at just $10 for guests and $25 for non-guests).

All take place around the lobby adjacent pool, or Swim Club. During these events, locals and visitors come to enjoy the type of vibe you might find in trendy cities on the mainland, but not so much in Waikiki.

All align closely with Taibi’s vision for “offerings that sing Hawaiian songs on a New York microphone.”

If you don’t stay at the Surfjack, stop by for a meal - or at least a drink - and ask for Taibi. He won’t be shy about sharing his story, and you will, in turn, see if not a different side of Waikiki, then at least an honest, passionate project that clearly comes from the heart.
