All that I have done

Challenging but fun; frustrating at times but very satisfying to complete each oneI I really enjoy this game. Sometimes the challenge gets to me, but I’ve discovered that if I keep trying, I can figure things out I am hooked. As a graduate of The University of Texas in Austin (the real UT) with an English major, I love words so playing this game gives me an opportunity to learn new ones, practice old ones, and just spend time using what few brain cells I have left. Love playing this more and more. It’s getting harder, but even though I get frustrated, I enjoy the challenges. 5/8/23. I can’t give it up. And I go from gold to bronze back to silver so I’m not the sharpest player, but the more I play the better I get. When I haven’t had time to play, I bottom out. Love this game. some weird words Enticing. Sometimes there are words that seem to have come out of nowhere and have no meaning. But I love to play I have learned some words that are so new they are not on the internet’s dictionary!YES! Addicted to playing this!

Great game but....

This is a truly fun game and I just noticed the dictionary which adds to the fun. There have been a few words that I thought were names and I wished I had found the dictionary sooner. I love getting credit for bonus words which make me work harder to find the “right” that they want you to find. However, only rated it four stars because the ads are overly frequent and obnoxiously long! I would buy the game but it’s ridiculously expensive. I will just put up with them until I tire of the game. But I will admit there hasn’t been a game that captured my interest like this one for quite some time. It is very addictive but again $50 a year is ludicrous for a game. I can put up with the ads for that price. Addendum: I’ve been playing this game since February now and got my husband on to it as well. He’s a bigger game but than I am. However, I’ve now had an ad lock up my game totally 2-3 times now which is very annoying and bothersome. I’ve been troubled the number of ads at times but aside from that they didn’t bother me. Until they lock up the game! This most recent one is the McLaren of Palm Beach ad. It’s a video that doesn’t play and I now can’t make it go away either!! So no more game! It’s infuriating to say the least. I’ve enjoyed the game but could make better use of my time if it’s going to keep locking up. What can I do?

Too frustrating

As an older adult I often look for new word games to keep the brain going, and the ad for this one seemed to have a different twist. i downloaded it, and just as with many apps before, the ad for the game is misleading because it does not play as advertised. I decided to try it anyway. Initially the game was okay, but then the ads began. Do not get me wrong...I get the ads and why they are used. You need money and it keeps the game free. We all have heard this before. But for a game that only costs a buck to clear the ads, you certainly use a lot of ads to cover that dollar. As a rule I do not pay for games unless I find it to be a classic, well designed, true to the game app. Once it is full of prizes and gimmicks, I am rarely interested. This game lost me with its ads interrupting me every other level and the prizes that constantly showed up. The ads often would not go away; just lead to yet another screen to watch and try to close. Sometimes I could not close out. I had to respond to screen to make it clear. This is not going to happen. The app is not as it was advertised, it has way too many ads to cover its cost, and it has too many gimmicks, prizes, and fluff. I just want a simple, challenging word game that plays as advertised. I can take the ads as long as they are incorporated responsibly. This one did not....so it has been deleted.

Review: Trip World DX (Nintendo Switch)

This is how to do nostalgia

Minimal Logo

The release of Atari 50 last year represented a change in mindset about how retro compilations are packaged up. I hope so, anyway. Including development documents, timelines, video interviews, and other materials made Atari 50 essential, even if those classics aren’t really your kind of games (as is the case for me). It was a true museum experience, and celebrating the heritage of video games in that way is key to their development as an art form. I’m delighted to say that Trip World DX is cut from the same cloth, and unlike Atari 50, this is my kind of game.

Trip World is a charming little 2D platformer from the Game Boy era. It’s vaguely reminiscent of Kirby, in the way that the little Chinchilla-inspired mascot hero, Yakopoo, bounces around and uses a range of abilities to pacify enemies.

As I wrote about the game when I reviewed it on its release to the 3DS Virtual Console : “Yakopoo has a cute little kick as his main attack, which is very limited in range and that limitation gives Trip World a reasonable challenge, especially in the boss battles. It’s easy enough to run through the levels by avoiding the regular enemies, but the boss battles are mandatory. Those bosses have a limited range of moves and attacks, but they are fast, and Yakopoo is quite weak.

A Screenshot from Trip World DX

“Then there’s the powerups, which are unnecessary but fun. Each of these turn Yakopoo, Kirby-style, into a different form, and give him a new ability. The ball is invulnerable and can jump really high. The flower allows Yakopoo to spit seeds at the enemy. If they hit, the enemy grows a flower on his head and is pacified for a while. Levels can be completed without these powerups, but they’re fun to play with.”

It’s going to be really familiar to Kirby fans, even if Yakopoo can’t inflate himself and fly around like the pink puffball. What distinguished Trip World from Kirby back then were the production values. This was a Sunsoft title, and it was Sunsoft at its best. Kirby was fine, but this game is gorgeous, with detailed backgrounds, exquisite animation, and a soundtrack that really pushed what the Game Boy was capable of. It’s only about an hour long from start to finish, only features four worlds, and it’s too difficult, but every second of it is a delight, and it is one of the more memorable Game Boy games.

It’s the only game in this “collection,” but the publisher, Limited Run Games, has one big bonus up its sleeve: a colour version for the first time! That’s where the “DX” in the title comes from. The developers have gone through the entire game and essentially created a Game Boy Color version of it for the first time. That colour adds even more charm and personality to the already vibrant experience, and is now the definitive way to play Trip World.

A screenshot from Trip World DX

And all of that is further enhanced by an incredibly comprehensive package of “museum” items to browse through. There are scans of the original manuals, never-before-seen design documents, art and more. There’s the entire soundtrack, and even some work in remixing it by a DJ, which is incredibly amusing (even if the DJ’s performance is a bit amateurish). Best of all, though, is a small library of video interviews with the producer, which goes surprisingly deep into the history and creation of the game. After wading through all of this material you come away with a much better understanding of and appreciation for the game than you did going in.

It might only be a single game, and that game might only be a single hour’s play long, but people who have a genuine love for the history of video games owe it to themselves to pick this up. Trip World DX works as a museum exhibit and charming little curiosity, and there are far worse things to do for an hour than this.

Trip World DX

Nintendo switch game boy color pc playstation 4 playstation 5, description.

  • In the classic Trip World, you take part in a globetrotting adventure through Trip World, a land filled with endearing creatures and mythical beings, as the bunny-like hero Yakopoo. A showstopper on its original handheld hardware, Trip World features some of the finest graphics and music ever heard in a video game in this form factor. The quality of its presentation is matched perfectly by the spot-on game mechanics and atmospheric level design that encourages the player to take part and enjoy the many sights of Trip World rather than rush through and beat it. Complimenting this fantastic re-release, Trip World DX includes a variety of features that provide never-before-seen content and context to what makes this game such an incredible release of its time, including a music player with remastered audio and arrangements, original design documents, cameo appearance designs, and video interviews.

Trip World is a platform game developed and published by Sunsoft for the Game Boy in 1992 . It was released exclusively in Japan and Europe, never seeing a release in other parts of the world.

The game is a traditional side-scrolling platformer starring the rabbit-like hero Yacopu (Yakopoo in Europe), who must venture through various Worlds (each consisting of a single, large stage rather than being divided into multiple ones) and defeat a boss at the end of each on his quest to recover the Maita Flower that was stolen by a mysterious figure. To get through the Worlds, Yacopu can change at will between three different forms, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as pick up power-ups that temporarily let him gain special abilities.

Trip World (トリップワールド) - Game Boy, 3DS Virtual Console (1992)

Players move across the screen, avoiding spike pits, jumping along collapsing platforms, and karate kicking enemies… Except the enemies don’t seem to fight back. Very few of them in fact cause any damage at all, with only the bosses posing a genuine threat. Apart from the harmless enemies, it’s all very standard. Yacopu can collect fruit items which imbue him with special powers: the ability to fire paralyzing seeds that sprout from the skulls of enemies; a bouncy ball power-up; and a third which allows him to attack with his tail. These powers are timed and soon wear off, but in some stages it’s possible to collect an additional power-up which, when combined with the first, grants something entirely new. The best of which causes Yacopu to sprout legs and gain the ability to fire instant-death projectiles.

Many sources try to emphasize a connection between Trip World and Sunsoft’s earlier Mr. Gimmick for the NES. This is unwarranted though. If there is a connection, it’s tenuous at best. Both games feature a cute styling, and they do have some similar visuals in places: the first stage of Gimmick! has some castle sprite-tiles which vaguely resemble the final level in Trip World , there’s a single instance of an enemy in Trip World which sort of resembles a bird in Gimmick! , and a couple of random enemies in Gimmick! also kind of resemble characters in Trip World .

Otherwise both games are functionally very different. Trip World features a distinct transformation mechanic, allowing the main character to switch between a fish and helicopter-type creature, while the hero of Gimmick can charge and shoot stars to attack enemies, along with rebounding them off walls and using them as makeshift platforms (easier said than done). Gimmick! is also maliciously difficult, even for a NES game, with some very slippery physics and painful platform locations, whereas outside of bosses there’s no challenge in Trip World at all. You don’t even need to play through the stages, since tapping the Select button at the title screen brings up a level-select menu. The two games were also developed by entirely different teams, with only Tomomi Sakai, designer on Gimmick! , being credited as “advisor” on Trip World . Toshihiko Narita meanwhile, chief designer on Trip World , is credited with special thanks on Gimmick! .

The problem is, Trip World barely qualifies as a “game”, at least in the traditional sense. There’s just not much gameplay to it. Which sounds harsh, and will be met with derision from collectors and GB enthusiasts, but the levels come across as being akin to tech demos. They look really nice as you walk through them, seeing the unique single-instance sprites and characters, but that’s it. You can kick the owl off the bridge in the first level, and watch the humorous animation as he falls down, but it serves little purpose, and is amusing only the first time you see it. The only challenge comes from the bosses, and even these are fairly easy apart from the last one. It’s quite possible to finish the entire game, seeing everything it has to offer, in a single hour-long sitting. A few players may get stuck on the last three bosses, fought back-to-back, but it’s not an insurmountable challenge.

A couple of levels, notably the last one, have multiple paths through them, but it doesn’t add much to what is an anemic experience. The multiple forms Yacopu can change into are never really needed, and even when you do use them, there’s no strategy to it. Yacopu can turn into a fish at will, even on land, without any penalty. So why not just allow his standard form to swim freely? The actual transforming doesn’t add anything apart from a few frames of animation. The entire game feels like it was started with the best of intentions, but development was suddenly cut short, forcing them to tie up the loose ends and put it out as is. It feels like a collection of fantastic but unfinished ideas. The fact there’s so little to Trip World isn’t even the problem, really, it’s the expectations placed on the game by being on all those “must play” lists, coupled with the high price of an original copy.

Rbudrick added on the LostLevels forum: “I had to go through some ass-busting trickery to get these things to dump right, including weights (coins) on the felt-tipped disk arm cleaner thingy in the drive and in some cases, hundreds of runs of the disk in FDSLoader, along with inventing my own calibration techniques for very finely tuning/refurbishing a FDS drive (figuring out with a micrometer the exact spacing of the disk head). In some cases, I think I had to tune the drive to NON-optimal settings to get certain blocks to read.”

Galaxy Fight

Both Yuuichi Ueda (chief director & programmer) and Toshihiko Narita (chief designer), would later work on Galaxy Fight , a 2D versus fighter, and it’s clear they had a soft spot for Yacopu, since he appears as a shape-shifting boss.

Game Boy Classic Trip World Getting Full Color Re-Release

  • April 19, 2023
  • Anthony Wallace

Trip World Limited Run Games

Very exciting news for fans of original Game Boy titles – one of the most incredible classics, Trip World , is getting a limited physical re-release.

Limited Run Games has worked with the original developers Sunsoft to create a brand new collector’s edition physical release.

And as if it weren’t amazing enough that this must-play title is back, Limited Run Games has also created a brand new fully colorized version: Trip World DX .

Trip World Game Boy

Game Boy enthusiasts will know Trip World as one of the most incredible platforming games created for the original DMG console.

The game never had a western release. So unless you lived in Japan, had a friend who shipped you a copy, or played it using emulation… you maybe never even heard of it.

But for those who knew about the magic of Trip World, this became one of the most rare and hard to find titles in an original cartridge.

The 1992 classic game can run you close to $300 for a real game cartridge and closer to $700 for a boxed copy.

Of course, there are knockoff versions available on Aliexpress. But most collectors are looking for the real thing.

Somehow, this classic title did not make our list of the best Gameboy games of all time . Which makes me strongly believe that this list needs an update, fellas!

I count Trip World in the top 10 of original Game Boy titles. And I absolutely cannot wait to replay it in full color.

Trip World Re-Release and DX

Coinciding with the announcement of the new Trip World physical release, Limited Run also dropped an amazing behind the scenes video on their Youtube channel:

As you can see, the team behind at Limited Run Games truly recognized the technical and artistic significance of Trip World on the Game Boy.

The huge undertaking of bringing color to this trippy world was masterfully executed by well known ROM hacker Iván Delgado aka Toruzz .

And the color palettes used for Trip World DX were developed by the original creator at Sunsoft, Yuichi Ueda.

Trip World Limited Run Games

I am glad that Limited Run Games could work directly with Yuichi Ueda. And that they could bring his true vision for the game to life.

This is the game he wanted to create in 1992 if he had the time and technology.

Trip World Limited Run Games

And yes, the new colorized DX game works on actual Game Boy consoles. And it will be released on actual Game Boy cartridges.

Trip World, and its main character Yakopoo , should be in the hall of fame of retro video games.

This is truly one of my favorite games to be released on the original Game Boy. And I am wildly excited to find out about a re-release.

Purchasing Information

Pre-orders open for the physical re-release of Trip World on April 28 th . And you absolutely positively wanna be ready to go if you wanna get your order in.

The game will be available in physical game cartridges for the monochrome Game Boy for $39.99usd .

The new full color version for the Game Boy Color also coming in at the same price of $39.99usd.

For those who just wanna play the game in digital form, it is also coming to PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC for $34.99usd in appropriate media formats.

Collector’s Editions will also be available for those who want to grab all of the special extras that have been created to celebrate Trip World.

That includes a Yakopoo plush, key chain, original soundtrack CD, poster and premium collector’s box and the game format of your choosing for $74.99usd .

Thank you so so much, Limited Run Games and Sunsoft, for bringing back one of the most incredible Game Boy titles of all time.

I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on Trip World.

Product Care

  • Shirts : Fangamer recommends that you wash your Fangamer apparel inside-out, with like colors, in cold water. Tumble dry low heat, no bleach, no ironing. If worn frequently, we also recommended washing on a gentle cycle.
  • Jackets & Hoodies : Wash and dry the same as shirts (inside-out, like colors, cold water, low heat), zipped up, along with other garments to reduce zipper pull damage. If your jacket has a custom zipper pull, consider taking it off before putting it in the wash.
  • Mugs : Fangamer's custom-made mugs are heavy duty, but if you want them to last a long time you may consider washing them by hand and avoid microwaving.
  • Patches : Fangamer patches and velcro comes with a temporary adhesive, but they recommend sewing the patch on once you're happy with its placement.

How to fast travel in Dragon's Dogma 2

Jump in the ox cart, because you’re too tele-poor to teleport

Dragon's Dogma 2 fast travel - Ox cart

  • Ferrystones and Portcrystals
  • Portable Portcrystals

In January, Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno made his personal opinions about easy fast travel commutes very clear . Players familiar with the original Dragon’s Dogma remember shilling out thousands of gold for Ferrystones in an expensive effort to give their feet a rest. Unsurprisingly, tracking down these mythical items—or paying top dollar for them—is still very much a thing in the sequel.

Sure, traveling by foot opens up opportunities to stumble on quests, find treasure or useful materials, or get absolutely smoked by a Griffin with zero warning because of your underleveled pawns . But sometimes, you’ve only got an hour to play before your dinner plans or bedtime and you’d like to get that annoying quest turned in pronto. Thankfully, Dragon’s Dogma 2 introduces a second form of fast travel—though calling it ‘fast’ is a bit of a misnomer.

Take a scenic ox cart ride

Using an ox cart is the cheapest and most common way to quickly travel from place to place in Dragon's Dogma 2. These bumbling vehicles connect all major settlements you’ve discovered. You first gain access to use a couple of ox carts freely upon your arrival in Vernworth, either to Melve via its north gate, or the Checkpoint Rest Town via the west gate.

You’ll sometimes see an ox cart rambling past as you’re out exploring. Feel free to jump in for a quick escape back to a safe settlement. If you want to summon an ox cart, you can find a bell near the gates to most towns, and interacting with them will pass the time until a cart is ready to leave.

Either chat with the driver or sit in the back to start your journey, which usually costs between one and three hundred gold, and then doze off at your leisure. You can’t choose where you go, either—this isn’t a fantastical Uber situation. The driver will let you know if you're lucky enough to reach your destination.

But not at night (and you might get attacked)

The inclusion of oxcarts as an added fast travel option is welcome, but they have their limitations. Ox carts don’t travel at night , and traveling via this new method isn’t instantaneous—it can take half a day or longer to reach your final destination. You can choose to take a snooze to pass some time, but if you’re trying to reach a timed quest, it’s possible that you won’t make it as quickly as you should.

To make things worse, ox carts are frequently attacked by monsters out in the world, and no, you can’t just sleep through a battle. You’ll need to disembark and slaughter your foes before getting back on track. If the beast is big and bad enough, it can destroy your ox cart entirely, forcing you to hoof it the rest of the way.

Go Ferrystone shopping and attune to Portcrystals

Many settlements in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have shiny purple beacons called Portcrystals . These are permanent fast travel points and must be activated before they can be used—simply approach one in order to unlock it.

Attuning to these crystals doesn’t mean you can open your map and start teleporting around willy-nilly. A one-time-use item called a Ferrystone is required to fast travel, and these rare and expensive items aren’t found in any large quantity until later in the game. Ferrystones come in handy when aiming to complete time-sensitive quests.

The easiest way to snag your first Ferrystone is at Philbert’s Sundries in Vernworth, though it’ll set you back a cool 10,000g. The good news, however, is that Philbert restocks his Ferrystone every three days , and this might be the case for other merchants with them, too. Finding a Seeker’s Token and turning it into the Vocation Guild in the city will also unlock one of these handy items.

Track down portable Portcrystals for luxury fast travel

The Cadillac of Dragon’s Dogma 2 fast travel comes in the form of portable Portcrystals . These extremely rare reusable items allow you to place a fast travel marker anywhere on your map, and these can be moved at any time. You can only place 10 at once, but finding that many may prove a formidable challenge anyway.

To help you begin your portable Portcrystal journey, chat with the elf, Glyndwr, hanging out near Roderick’s Smithy in Vernworth. Helping him will trigger a series of quests that leads you to a hidden elf village. Completing the lengthy chain earns you your very first Portcrystal. You can also get one via the main story for helping Captain Brant complete his quests.

Unfortunately, you’ll still need Ferrystones to make use of these beacons, but it’s something to aspire to if you’re after ease of movement, or have a quest that requires frequent revisits to the same location.

Given how much emphasis Itsuno and his team put on making the world alive and ever-evolving, using your own two legs the majority of the time seems like the best option for getting around. Convenience isn’t the name of this Capcom game.

‘Get Ready to Scream’: How to Be a Baseball Fan in South Korea

The country’s raucous fan culture will be on display when Major League Baseball opens its season in Seoul. Here’s how to cheer and what to eat.

Reporting from Seoul

In the United States, many Major League Baseball games feature long periods of calm, punctuated by cheering when there’s action on the field or the stadium organ plays a catchy tune.

But in South Korea, a baseball game is a sustained sensory overload. Each player has a fight song, and cheering squads — including drummers and dancers who stand on platforms near the dugouts facing the spectators — ensure that there is near-constant chanting. Imagine being at a ballpark where every player, even a rookie, gets the star treatment.

“You should get ready to scream,” said Kim Seongjun, 26, a fan who attended an exhibition game in Seoul over the weekend. “It’s fun to get on your feet and cheer.”

Also, the food is on another level. Think of the ballpark as a giant buffet of Korean street food.

All of this awaits the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres when they open the M.L.B. season in Seoul this week. Here’s a guide for visiting fans.

Get on your feet

trip world game

Step into any South Korean ballpark and you’ll be encouraged to get up and participate in cheering routines almost constantly from first pitch to last out. Fans typically watch their respective team’s cheering squad and repeat the chants, songs and dances performed by its cheerleaders, drummers and their leader, the “cheer master.”

The Korea Baseball Organization professionalized cheering squads in the early 2000s, partly to attract new fans. That has helped to make ballparks welcoming spaces in a country where many people work long hours and face immense societal pressures .

“Our huge cheering culture is part why baseball is such a popular sport here,” said Jung Jihoon, 22, who led the drum section for the Padres’ exhibition game on Sunday when they beat South Korea’s national team, 1-0.

Video player loading

“It’s fun to lose yourself in the atmosphere,” Jung said, as he sat with his drum sticks and bass drum in front of where the Padres cheerleaders danced.

To fully immerse, follow the cheer master’s lead. Among other duties, cheer masters write fight songs and chants, and shout them during games, even when their teams are losing badly.

When the Kiwoom Heroes played the Dodgers on Sunday, Kim Jung-suk, 39, the South Korean club’s cheer master, yelled, “Home run ball! Home run ball!” Fans repeated that while rhythmically hitting empty plastic bottles and toy baseball bats together.

Whenever a batter hit the ball, the crack of his bat turned the chanting into a roar.

“Game-wise, everyone might be interested in the Dodgers,” Kim said of the contest, in which the American team trounced his team 14-3 . “But in terms of cheering, the Kiwoom Heroes won’t be left behind.”

Learn the fight songs

trip world game

Customized fight songs are played whenever a player steps up to the plate. They typically feature the player’s name and a short melody.

Local fans can sing them by heart.

Kim Soowon, 38, who attended the Heroes game with her husband and children, said the team’s songs were so easy to learn that even her 2-year-old twins knew them.

“Here, baseball games are a great place for office workers to go after work to scream,” she said.

For this week’s games, cheer masters spent weeks crafting each M.L.B. player’s fight song, adapted from widely recognized melodies used by South Korean teams.

Fight songs are sung when a player steps up to the plate. Then, as he squares off against the opposing pitcher, the cheer master leads chants that call for hits — or, if the team is down, a home run to turn the game around.

“Ohtani infield! Ohtani infield!” fans chanted in Korean when the beloved Dodger Shohei Ohtani was batting during the exhibition game on Sunday. He struck out twice.

Feel free to dance

trip world game

A dance goes with each song. Don’t worry if you don’t know the moves. Each team has a troupe of cheerleaders demonstrating them.

“I love the energy that we send and receive when the fans follow our movements,” said Kim Hana, 25, a Heroes cheerleader. “We’ll help you learn all of the dances.”

The cheering, dancing and signing has attracted young fans to baseball who might otherwise find the sport boring. “In the age of YouTube and TikTok, it’s hard to sit through a three-hour game,” said Barney Yoo, the director of international operations at the K.B.O.

Video player loading

The rituals also strengthen the bond between the teams and their devoted crowds, said Bae Soohyun, 39, a cheerleader for South Korea’s national team on Sunday.

“It’s a ballpark experience that only South Korea can offer,” she said.

Eat something new

trip world game

Baseball here can be a full-on dining experience that features Korean staples like deep-fried spicy rice cakes, braised pig’s trotters and “chimaek,” Korean slang for the pairing of fried chicken and beer. Many fans carry multicourse meals to their seats, and some stadiums have barbecue zones for those who want to grill.

Each South Korean ballpark also serves its own specialty dishes. Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul is known for its spicy noodles in kimchi broth. In Suwon, south of the capital, fans rave about the dumplings and deep-fried whole chicken.

trip world game

And at Gocheok Sky Dome, where the M.L.B. season openers will be played, hundreds line up for crispy fried shrimp covered in a mayonnaise-based sauce. If you’re not afraid of spice, consider the “mala” sauce version for a tingly zing.

Stay for the end

There was some concern among officials planning this week’s games that all the chanting might bother non-Korean players. But the exhibition games over the weekend were more subdued than a usual Korean game. That might have been because fans were not fervently rooting for a particular outcome.

After the Dodgers played on Sunday, the team’s manager, Dave Roberts, told reporters that his players had not found the cheering distracting. On the contrary.

“The environment, the atmosphere was great,” he said.

One aspect of Korean fan culture will be comforting to the losers in the M.L.B. games. While American fans might dejectedly file out early if their team seems too far behind to win, fans here typically stay put until the last out.

Mass Uncopylocked | 35 free games and projects

I have been making experiences on the roblox platform resulting in millions of visits and robux over the course of a decade. As my time is coming to an end I wish for everyone to make their own fun with my creations and perhaps learn a thing or two while exploring my old code. Starting today my most developed games and projects will be uncopylocked and open sourced to everyone to use, whether for modding or just for scrap parts, for whatever purpose.

These experiences span over lots of genres and range from fully developed games with months of effort to side projects made in a single night. The majority of them are the latter but there’s no harm in giving them away apart from potential humiliation. Below is an organized list of all the uncopylocked experiences, just click on the hamburger menu next to the experience’s name to edit it in studio and download your own copy.

As much as I’d like this to be the most convenient source of assets there are a few caveats. Perhaps if this gets enough attention I’ll dedicate what time I have left to polish this source:

  • Sorry for the lack of pictures. Consider going through each game as a loot box with hidden gems here and there. Experiences under the full games category should be worth your time.
  • A lot of these experiences, especially the side projects, have broken scripts. If you need help with getting something working you can reach out to me and I might be able to help.
  • All assets in these experiences are either created by me or my friends, from the toolbox, or from public sources such as youtube tutorials. As these experiences span over many years it is near impossible for me to give credit for everything which isn’t mine. Stealing shouldn’t be a concern but if you really need me to track down the creator of an asset let me know and I’ll do my best.
  • Some of the older experiences (made back when I was a kid who didn’t know any better) may have viruses or other backdoors in them. Always be careful with taking assets, whether from here or anywhere else on the internet.

Stay up to date:, urban transformation.

  • Paris 2024 says its Olympic Games will be the greenest in the event’s history.
  • Plans include powering the Athlete’s Village with geothermal and solar energy and doubling the amount of plant-based food served at the event.
  • Food and other green choices can make a difference when they’re adopted collectively by large numbers of people, the World Economic Forum says in its latest Global Risks Report.

The 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer will set new standards in sustainability, the organizers promise. However, with 800 Olympic sporting events,15,000 athletes, 45,000 volunteers and 13 million meals, organizers understand the massive scale of their sustainability ambitions. In fact, they describe these ambitions as humanity’s “greatest challenge”.

Here's how the Paris games will prioritize sustainability -- and potentially create a model for other events like it to follow.

It can be tough to stay healthy when living in a big city. The Forum is responding through its Healthy Cities and Communities initiative by working to create innovative urban partnerships, which are helping residents find a renewed focus on their physical and mental health.

In 2020, the project continued to expand to new locations and has effectively helped communities impacted by COVID-19. Our work is continuing with concrete actions in 2021 where best practices and learnings from all partner cities will be shared, allowing other cities to replicate and scale.

In Jersey City, USA the Healthy Cities and Communities initiative is working with AeroFarms to deliver locally sourced vertically farmed greens to people in need. The initiative is also helping homeless people who are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

In Mumbai, India (home to more than 20 million people) the initiative is working with the local startup community and engaging them on multiple sanitation challenges.

What the Olympic Games are doing

The world’s most sustainable Olympic Games?

The games are being described as the greenest in Olympic history, with Paris 2024 pledging to halve the event’s carbon footprint compared to the average of previous Summer Games. Planning the "most sustainable" games will mean limiting emissions to around 1.75 million tonnes of CO2. Previous summer Olympics, which include Tokyo 2020, Rio 2016 and London 2012, have emitted an average of 3.5 million tonnes of CO2, the Paris 2024 Organising Committee says. Besting emissions from Tokyo's games will be particularly remarkable as that event did not have spectators thanks to COVID-19 restrictions. In addition to avoiding and reducing emissions, the Paris 2024 sustainability strategy will incorporate offsets, investing in environmental and social projects around the world.

Have you read?

Hosting the Olympics in the past has typically brought big spending on new venues. But 95% of Paris 2024 will be hosted in existing buildings or temporary infrastructure.

The Stade de France, which was originally built for the 1998 football World Cup, will host most events.

Only one new competition venue, the Aquatics Centre in Saint-Denis , is being built for the 2024 Olympic Games. It is solar-powered, uses natural bio-based building materials and is fitted out with recycled materials.

From renewable energy to recycled fishing nets

The Athletes' Village will also generate energy from sources like geothermal and solar power.

Athletes will sleep on mattresses made from recycled fishing nets and bed bases from reinforced cardboard, reports Luxembourg news channel RTL Today.

For biodiversity, rooftops have been built with enclosures and openings to house insects and birds. And almost 9,000 trees have been planted around the athletes’ village to attract different species.

The 2,800 Olympic apartments will be converted into homes after the games.

Sustainable travel and food choices at the 2024 Olympic Games

Other sustainable features of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games include 1,000km of cycle lanes and 200,000 new trees in the streets, reports The Guardian newspaper.

The Paris Tourist Office says 3,000 more pay-as-you-go bikes are being made available , and most Olympic venues are accessible by public transport. Around 15 million visitors are expected to visit Paris during the Olympics.

Paris 2024 has also pledged to double the amount of plant-based food it serves and halve the amount of single-use plastic used, to cut carbon emissions and reduce waste.

Why sustainable choices matter for the climate

Vegetarian diets and other low-carbon life choices, like sustainable travel, can make a difference when they’re adopted collectively by large numbers of people, the World Economic Forum says in its latest Global Risks Report 2024 .

Collective efforts like these can alter market dynamics and “move the dial on climate change mitigation,” the Forum adds. Businesses making sustainable and ethical choices are also critical to driving improvements worldwide, while collective action can help to prepare the world for global risks.

By 2034, environmental risks make up four of the top five risks identified in the report.

Global risks ranked by severity over the long term (10 years)

Extreme weather events and a critical change to Earth systems – such as a climate tipping point in global warming – are the top two risks. Biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse, and shortages in natural resources are also in the top four global risks.

“The actions of individual citizens, companies and countries – while perhaps insignificant on their own – can move the needle on global risk reduction if they reach a critical mass,” the Forum says.

Spider-Man 2's Popular Fast Travel System Was Almost Cut Because It 'Totally Broke Our Game'

Insomniac breaks down spider-man 2's fast travel challenges and how it solved them..

Kat Bailey Avatar

Spider-Man 2's fast travel system was one of its most popuar features when Insomniac's superhero blockbuster launched in late 2023. With a press of a button, players could zip to any part of the map nearly instantaneously , making it one of the best demonstrations of the PlayStation 5's power to date. But for all of its excellence, it might have missed the cut entirely.

Speaking at GDC 2024, Insomniac design director Josue Benavidez revealed the challenges the studio faced in designing Spider-Man 2's open world — challenges substantial enough that Insomniac considered scrapping the fast travel system entirely.

Insomniac considered cutting Spider-Man 2's fast travel system

"We were working on this new fast travel. It was one of my favorite new features. And it totally broke our game. Because the map was fully revealed, you could go anywhere," Benavidez explained.

Spider-Man 2 is not the first action-adventure game to have issues with fast travel. Modern games have found various ways to integrate the feature into their gameplay without sacrificing convenience, often by limiting its availability to camps and other safe locations. Jedi: Fallen Order famously omitted fast travel, but fan demand led Respawn to add it in for the sequel .

Spider-Man 2's problem, Benavidez said, was that players initimidated by its large open world would simply open the map, pick a waypoint, and go straight to their destination. This was frustrating to Insomniac, who wanted players to take the time to explore the environment they had created.

"It was so detrimental that we considered cutting [fast travel] or delaying its unlock until players had finished the game. I eventually decided that, no, the fast travel wasn’t wrong. The game was wrong," Benavidez said.

Insomniac responded by going back and rebuilding Spider-Man 2's open world gameplay loop virtually from scratch. Over the course of the session, Benavidez outlined how the development team wanted players to "engage with the gameplay as they encountered it," likening the challenge to delivering cake — simply going to the bakery and delivering cake is boring, but if players only have a general idea of where to find the cake, they may discover a coffee shop and other locations in the course of looking for it.

The biggest challenge, Benavidez said, was that Spider-Man could functionally fly, meaning that players could effectively skip encounters. While it was always possible to simply shoot Spider-Man down, Insomniac wanted to use that option sparingly, meaning it had to find ways to incentivize encounters and discovery.

To achieve this goal, Insomniac built up numerous systems, from new currencies, to a greater emphasis on landmarks. The district progression system was introduced in order to tie together all of the activities in a different area and give players a reason to stick around beyond finishing up collections. To keep players focused on the gameplay, Insomniac layered pop-up messages to keep players from checking the meaning of icons on the map.

Benavidez says that Insomniac's devs knew they were on to something early on during Spider-Man 2's usability tests. "We had a test where a player never opened their map. They just went to the top of a tall point and look outed," Benavidez said.

In the end, Insomniac didn't have to remove Spider-Man 2's fast travel, though the game does require players to level up a district in order to travel it to immediately. We wrote in our review , "Not making fast travel readily available is smart, and truthfully, I barely used it anyway as swinging and gliding around the city is so much more fun, even though the load times are nonexistent and the speedy, swooping camera effect of switching between Peter and Miles is very cool. Gliding is especially great for crossing long distances thanks to the numerous wind tunnels that carve their way through New York's seemingly endless grid of streets flanked by art deco architecture and modern mirror-like skyscrapers."

Spider-Man has since swung past 10 million units sold while earning numerous Game of the Year nominations. For more, check out the rest of the best games of 2023 .
