Get to know maldives.

The Maldives is a tropical paradise made up of 1192 colorful coral islands surrounded by the warm, Indian Ocean.

With the Maldives close to the equator, there’s plenty of sunshine all year, round with a consistent temperature of about 30°C to enjoy.

The best time to experience the inhabited and uninhabited islands of the Maldives is between December and March when your holiday is uninterrupted by rain. Rainy season is from May – October which brings showers that feed the green, lush and leafy vegetation which make Maldives the unspoiled retreat it is.

Scattered from the southern tip of India for hundreds of miles south and across the equator, the Maldives is a collection of tiny coral islands, all surrounded by warm, shallow, turquoise waters that teem with marine life.

There is very little here, but that is the beauty of it and your days will be filled with exploring the ocean, sleeping, sunbathing and eating amazing fusion cuisine. If this all gets too much, go for a walk around your island – this could waste an hour, go to the gym and build up your appetite, or head to the spa. After a few days of this demanding regime you will relax, you will start to walk more slowly and you will start to wander how you managed to fit anything more into your day. The Maldives is the antidote to a hectic city life.

The diving and snorkelling in the Maldives is incredible. In fact, you often don’t even need to snorkel – large colourful fish, rays, even reef sharks can often be seen off the beach or your hotel’s jetty. The water is so still and safe it is ideal for children or those who might be a little nervous at first, and yet the spectacular reef walls and deeper dive spots will also challenge the more adventurous.

The Maldives is wonderful for a honeymoon, for couples looking for R&R, but also for families. The beaches and water are very safe here, and the experienced hoteliers now provide brilliant facilities for younger guests.

Accommodation here varies enormously. The Maldives is well established on the tourist map these days, so you need to choose your island carefully to avoid a mass market holiday camp feel. There are dive islands, which tend to be lower cost and more lively and so attract groups of dive enthusiasts. Of the rest, there are a handful of four star islands, but most are five star and offer sumptuous bedrooms, glamorous spas and exquisite food and service.

Some islands offer all inclusive meal plans, others offer yoga and tennis, some are rustic and cool, some are all ‘bling’ and celebrity endorsed. If you don’t care to share, you can even hire your own island complete with a dive boat, butlers, and private chefs. We can help you choose the right island for you.

You will also have to face the biggest Maldives debate head on – whether to go for a beach villa or a water villa? Everyone has a favourite. The Maldives is the ultimate beach hang-out for those who like their creature comforts but still to feel sand between their toes. It is paradise for a week or two.

The hotel was great. Beach was stunning. Great for swimming; we were afraid of the sharks, luckily we didn’t encounter any while swimming. The over water villas are worth every penny. We took the semi water villa, it was better because it was closer to the restaurant and reception. However, little privacy since at lunch time people at the restaurant could see you swimming. Especially if you’re in semi water room number 131-134 However, still better than the beach villa. Beach villa looks nice and over look the sandy side of the beach which is perfect for swimming without any sharks. Semi water villas overlook a lot of reefs so you will see sharks and it is the best spot for snorkeling. I loved that they cleaned the room twice daily. Buffet was nice had a wide variety of food selection, not fancy tho but it’s what you paid for. We stayed 4 days and each day there were something new to the buffet not the same thing every day. If you’re honeymooners they will give you a complimentary candle light dinner. Which is so cute. I think the hotel needs to renovate their furniture and mattress as well

Nice resort ”

This my 10th times in Maldives I love to relax and snorkel a lot. Safari Island resort I saw a big crowd of fishes like these fishes around me. I saw a big shark near my room. Good to stay here and I will be back again.

We were happy to stay Safari Island. There are a big school of fish around us. I saw 2m long shark near my room. Room desing is very good. We will be back again.

Exceptional”

The water bungalows were incredibly spacious with beautiful views. We loved snorkeling to the reef right from our bungalow. I traveled with my 16 year old and 11 year old and they weren't bored at all with options of snorkeling, swimming in the lagoon or the pool. The laid back nature of the resort was perfect.

The Maldives is an extensive group of tropical atolls that lies in the Indian Ocean around 500 km (300 miles) south of the tip of India.

This independent republic is comprised of 1192 small coral islands, grouped into 26 circular atolls, of which 200 are inhabited by local people and a further 150 are utilised for tourism.

Although these islands are spread across around 100,000 square kilometres of ocean, the land surface only adds up to around 300 square kilometres. With a population of around 500,000 people (which doubled during the years 2000-2020), the Maldives is the ninth most densely populated country in the world. This seems quite counter-intuitive to the blissful isolation that can be experienced on so many of the more remote islands.

The people of the Maldives are classified as Indo-Aryan, with traces of Middle Eastern, South Asian, Austronesian and African genes within the population, reflecting the nation’s central position throughout thousands of years of maritime trade in the Indian Ocean. There’s also an expat community of around 150,000, largely comprised of people from Bangladesh and the Philippines, most of whom work in tourism. English is widely spoken as a second language.

The capital city of Malé is centrally located, a tightly-packed high-rise urbanisation, which is home to almost half of the population. The international airport is situated on the adjacent island of Hulhulé, which is the main point of entry for the vast majority of visitors.

The Maldives has been an independent Islamic state since around 1150 AD, punctuated by an extended period of British colonial ‘protection’ 1796-1965. The re-establishment of independence was followed by decades of political instability, but in recent times the governance has been much improved, providing a reasonably stable background for tourism.

The main political focus in recent years has been on the considerable environmental challenges faced by the islands, which are naturally very exposed to changes in sea levels (the average elevation is just 1.5 metres) and temperatures (having already experienced major coral bleaching events). The country’s leaders have been very vocal at international climate change summits and have themselves pioneered the move towards a carbon-neutral economy.

The economy of the Maldives has historically been dominated by fishing, but with tourism rapidly increasing over recent decades, now reaching around two million visitors per year, generating over 90% of government revenues.

The Maldives now contain around 150 tourist resorts, the majority of which are located on private islands, scattered throughout the various atolls and largely accessed by internal flights. Most of these are very large properties, with 50-300 accommodation units, more often than not spilling out from the their islands on networks of boardwalks which fan out into their coral lagoons.

These islands are renowned for offering the ultimate in tropical island luxury, with many of the resorts commanding absolutely eye-watering price tags. But there is also a good range of more modestly-priced options too.

The main activities are pure relaxation, fine dining, spa treatments, diving, snorkelling and sailing, with some modest cultural interaction in some areas.

Marine environment

The islands of the Maldives are rightly renowned for their epic marine environment, with habitats including deep ocean, shallow coast and reef ecosystems, with many high-current channels between the islands and shallow lagoons inside the atolls.

The endless coral reefs are home to 187 species of corals, 1100 species of fish, 5 species of sea turtles, 21 species of whales and dolphins, 400 species of molluscs, 83 species of echinoderms and over 300 species of crustaceans.

Among the many marine families represented are pufferfish, fusiliers, jackfish, lionfish, oriental sweetlips, reef sharks, groupers, eels, snappers, bannerfish, batfish, humphead wrasse, spotted eagle rays, scorpionfish, lobsters, nudibranches, angelfish, butterflyfish, squirrelfish, soldierfish, glassfish, surgeonfish, unicornfish, triggerfish, Napoleon wrasses, and barracudas.

The islands are perhaps best known for the fabulous opportunities that they offer for diver and snorkellers to swim with manta rays and whale sharks in particular.

The Maldives is widely recognised as being one of the best locations for diving in the world.

Although these islands do have some impressive coral reefs, it is the sheer abundance of pelagic marine life that really sets it apart, with epic encounters with manta rays and whale sharks topping the bill.

The best time of year for diving is generally consider to be during the Nov-May northeast monsoon, when typical conditions include low winds, calm seas and high visibilities.

If you are a really serious diver, then you may prefer to join a liveaboard boat, usually for around a week.

Most of our guests prefer to base themselves at one, two or even three different lodges and use them as bases from which to dive.

Many of the most exciting sites in the Maldives are drift dives, taking advantage of the currents that run through the channels between the islands that make up the periphery of the various atolls.

In these nutrient-rich environment you can expect to see Napoleon wrasses, parrotfish, snappers, fusiliers, jacks and sweetlips, whilst you explore the various caves, caverns and overhangs, where soft corals proliferate and there is a riot of colourful sponges, invertebrates and gorgonian fans.

Another type of dive site that is characteristic of the Maldives are pinnacles (known locally as thilas ), which rise from the seabed to just below the surface, acting like magnets for marine life. The walls of these outcrops kick nutrients up from the depths, to support the sponges and soft corals that cling to the flanks, creating an environment for a plethora of crustaceans and schools of resident fish.

The shallow lagoons , brightly illuminated by the sun's rays, are home to great numbers of fish, provide an ideal environment underwater photography. They also contain plenty of cleaning stations where wrasses and shrimps service the larger marine species.

Beyond the lagoons the blue waters are home to manta rays, eagle rays and a variety of sharks, including mighty whale sharks.

Bleaching events

The reefs of the Maldives have experienced very serious bleaching events, most notably in 1998 and 2017, when temporary increases in ocean water temperatures of up to 5C (9F) caused up to two thirds of all coral to die.

Since then, considerable efforts have been made to encourage coral regrowth, including an innovative technique in which the coral substrates are electrified to significantly increase the rate of reproduction.

The reefs appear to be quite resilient, returning to their former colourful glory, whilst the larger marine life seems to have remained largely unaffected throughout. If anything the pelagic species seem to be on the increase, perhaps as a result of increasingly strong conservation measures being taken by the government.

Seasonality

Although the Dec-May period is generally recognised as being the best time of year, in truth you really can dive the Maldives year round.

The Dec-May period experiences the northeast monsoon, when light breezes blow down from the Bay of Bengal. The seas are usually calm and the skies are almost always clear and blue.

At this time the visibility is usually best on the eastern side of the atolls (20-30 metres), less so on the western side as the waters pick up sediment and nutrients (15-20 metres). Reef sharks usually cluster at channel entrances on the eastern side of the atolls, whilst  plankton outflows draw manta rays to the western channel outlets. The currents in these channels tend to be strongest during this season.

A major exception to this rule is Hanifaru Bay on the eastern side of the Baa Atoll, a very famous snorkelling location, where hundreds of manta rays and dozens of whale sharks often gather during May-Dec, to take advantage of vast plankton blooms.

The Jun-Nov period experiences the southwest monsoon, when stronger breezes blow up from the Indian Ocean, bringing more cloud, heavier seas, cooler water and reduced visibiilty.

The current flow through the channels reverses, so we now generally find sharks to the west and manta rays to the east

Although there is still plenty of sunshine around during this season, surface swells can reach 1-2 metres, particularly during the Jun-Jul season, when rain falls on average for 3-4 hours per day.

The monsoon transitions  (when the winds shift direction) in late May and early December can also be quite unpredictable.

The various atolls of the Maldives are ranged across a vast area, measuring almost 1000 km (700 miles) from north to south.

The ocean conditions vary considerably over this range, with the north tending to have warmer waters, healthier reefs and a wider range of species, whilst southern areas tend to have more sharks.

Keep an eye out for special locations for manta rays and whale sharks in particular, as these might end up definining your trip.

1.0 : Central atolls

The central atolls, which lie either side of the capital and main international airport at Male, are the most accessible and most visited parts of the country ...

1.1 : North Male Atoll

Being closest to the main international airport, this area was one of the first to be explored by divers and contains a very long list of well-established dive sites. These include some breathtaking topography with dramatic rock faces, numerous caves, steep drop offs and precipitous overhangs. The marine life is prolific with sharks, manta rays, trevallys, black snappers, groupers, bannerfish, morays, squirrelfish, soldierfish and grubfish.

Many dive live-aboard boats focus on this area, since it is so easy to access.

There's an interesting range of resorts in the North Male Atoll, all of which are usually reached by motorboat and have good dive operations ...

1.2 : South Male

Set to the south of the main international airport, South Male Atoll features six main channels with prodigious marine life. Although the coral reefs are not the best, there are plenty of schools of fish and big pelagics like grey reef sharks, whitetips, eagle rays and manta rays. There is also an interesting Kuda Giri wreck which has been completely colonised by orange, yellow and red sponges and with myriad fish life inside and outside the structure.

Quite a few dive live-aboard boats focus on this area, since it is also easy to access.

1.3 : Ari Atoll

Set a fair distance to the west of Male, the Ari Atoll has a significantly more remote feel.

The atoll is encircled by so many islands, providing an endless choice of channels for superb drift dives.

The area is best known for whale sharks, with a large population usually resident year round and amenable to snorkellers. The best known spot is (predictably) known as Whale Shark Point, in the south end of the atoll.

On the north end of Ari Atoll, as well as the smaller neighbouring Rasdhoo Atoll, there are frequent sightings manta rays and hammerhead sharks.

A few dive live-aboard boats, those on longer itineraries, are drawn out to Ari Atoll by the whale sharks.

There's a reasonable range of resorts in the Ari Atoll, all of which are usually reached by seaplane and have good dive operations ...

Link :  Constance Halaveli Link : Constance Moofushi Link :  Conrad Rangali Resort Link : Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat

2.0 : Northern atolls

There are four main atolls lying to the north, namely  Baa , Lhaviyani , Noonu and Raa .

The most popular of these is Baa Atoll , which is protected as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. There are many great dive sites on the atoll, but the area is best known for Hanifaru Bay, a location where great numbers of manta rays and whale sharks feast on vast plankton blooms Mar-Dec and which is widely regarded as one of the best snorkelling spots on Earth.

A few dive live-aboard boats, those on longer itineraries, are drawn out to Baa Atoll by the manta rays.

There's an unusually strong range of resorts in the Baa Atoll, all of which are usually reached by seaplane and have good dive operations ...

Link :  Soneva Fushi Link : The Nautilus Maldives Link : Milaidhoo Island Link : Four Seasons Voavah Link : Four Seasons Landaa Giravaru

The other three main atolls in this area, Lhaviyani , Noonu and Raa , all feel a good deal more remote and have a huge range of fabulous dive sites, which you can expect to (more often than not) have to yourselves. The waters can also be a good deal warmer than further south.

Very few dive live-aboard boats head up this far north, only a few high-end specialist operations on longer itineraries. For our guests who want to explore this area by boat, we more often run a private charter out of one of the properties in the immediate vicinity, rather than travel out by boat all the way from Male.

These three atolls are home to some of the very best accommodation options in the Maldives, there are real sense that this is the place to be (especially if money is no object). They are all usually reached by seaplane and have good dive operations ...

Link : Kudadoo Link :  Soneva Jani Link : Velaa Private Island Link : Hurawalhi Link : Joali Link : Cheval Blanc Randheli

Further north, the atolls of  Haa Alifu  and Haa Dhaalu experience warmer waters and calmer weather for more of the year and are strong for diving Aug-May. Thereare some fantastically colourful reefs and species including leopard sharks, whitetip sharks, blacktip sharks, manta rays and giant trevallies.

However, these ares are much lesser-visited and don't have any recommend accommodation options, so can only usually be visited by private charter live-aboard boats (which we most commonly dousing a boat out of Kudadoo or Soneva Fushi).

3.0 Southern Atolls

There are four main atolls lying to the south, namely  Laamu , Meemu , Thaa and Vaavu .

These areas are appreciably more remote. The water down here is starting to get cooler (especially during the Jun-Nov southwest monsoon).

The theme of drift dives continues, with caves and caverns, populated by large schools of fish, sharks, rays, jacks and tunas. Sightings of whale sharks and hammerheads are also quite frequent.

Very few dive live-aboard boats head up this far south, only a few high-end specialist operations on longer itineraries.

These four atolls are also rather short on recommended accommodation. Our guest tend to include this area either in combination with a property in the north (to provide more variety in the diving) or because they are looking for a lower cost accommodation option. The resorts here are usually reached by seaplane and have good dive operations ...

Link : Como Maalifushi Link : Niyama Private Islands Link : Kandima Resort

Even further south lie the three remote (but still heavily populated) atolls of  Addu , Gaafu  and Foahmulah , which are renowned for their shark action, including more rarely seen species like thresher sharks, tiger sharks and oceanic whitetip sharks (year round at Foahmulah).

There is just one accommodation option this far south, which is reached by seaplane and has good dive operations ...

Link : Park Hyatt Hadahaa

The best time to visit the Maldives is generally considered to be during the Nov-Apr dry season, although conditions are relatively constant and it really is feasible to travel at any time of year.

This coastline is classified as having a tropical monsoon climate, with two clearly defined seasons ...

Nov-Apr : dry season

During the Nov-Apr dry season (northeastern monsoon) the daytime temperatures are marginally higher at around 31C/88F, whilst the nighttime low temperatures are around 26C/79F.

Rainfall is highly variable and relatively unpredictable, with Jan-Mar potentially dropping to around 75mm (3”) per month and the the shoulder reasons months of Nov-Dec and Apr potentially rising as high as 200mm (8”) per month.

Sunshine is typically up around 8 hours per day (around 70% of daylight hours).

This period is high season in the Maldives, so you need to book early to get accommodation in the best resorts and the prices are at their highest.

May-Oct : wet season

During the May-Oct wet season (southwest monsoon) the daytime temperatures are marginally lower at around 30C/86F, whilst the nighttime low temperatures are around 25C/77F.

Rainfall is typically quite high, at around 200mm (8”) per month, with more pronounced and frequent storms. The amount of precipitation varies considerably across the island group, with more southerly atolls typically receiving up to twice as much rainfall as the north.

Sunshine typically drops to around 6.5 hours per day (around 55%% of daylight hours).

The main downside during this period is the chance of high winds, blowing in from the southwest, especially centred on May, when the monsoon winds change direction. Of course this does also make it the best time for surfing and advanced wind-surfing.

This period is low season in the Maldives, so booking early should be less important and there should be some good value to be found at most resorts.

Getting there

The vast majority of visitors arrive into the Maldives through Velana International Airport, on the island of Hulhulé, which is adjacent to the capital Malé. The airport is widely connected to locations including India, Sri Lanka, Doha, Dubai, Singapore, Istanbul and major airports in Southeast Asia, as well as direct charter flights from Europe.

Gan Airport, on the southern atoll of Addu, also receives some direct international flights, notably charters from Milan in Italy.

The main way to travel between islands in the Maldives is by domestic flights. There are twelve airstrips on outlying atolls, the remainder being serviced by sea-planes, which land directly in the coral lagoons.

Shorter transfers are typically carried out by motorboats, connecting the various airports to the various island resorts.

For independent travellers and those with more time on their hands, there are also domestic ferry services and traditional vessels (dhonis) plying various routes.

Where to stay

The majority of visitors to the Maldives stay in just one resort, but it is more than possible to combine two or more resorts, if you fancy experiencing different styles of architecture and hospitality. It can also be a good idea if you are keen divers.

The best way to choose a lodge is usually to decide where in the price range you want to be, then run through the options, simply selecting the place that takes your fancy.

A few things to look out for are how many rooms a place has, how tightly they are packed onto their island and how far the island is from the main airport, the various centres of habitation and other lodges.

If you are primarily interested in diving, then please refer to the dedicated section above on advice where to stay.

We generally prefer to lean towards more remote islands with fewer rooms, although those options are often the more expensive ...

Morning snorkel to “Kudhi Boli’’ (Literally means small shells). It will take 1 and half hour maximum. It is very beautiful reef with a small strip, which emerges with low tide. This a where there used to be a small vegetated island 30 years back. Which has now eroded away like many others in the Maldives. Lunch will be served on board. After lunch we will cruise to Ambara for afternoon snorkel. The remainder of the day free to enjoy the beach and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters around the island Ambara Overnight Accommodation on Boat Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today we sail to south for a further 2-3 hours, crossing to Meemu Atoll. As with the rest of the journey, we are hardly ever out of sight of island (weather permiting) and we cruise very close to many of the islands. Meemu Atoll has 41 islands of which 9, inhabited island, 2 Resorts and 30 are uninhabited. Some of the inhabited ones grow yams, and all of them are almost totally depended on fishing & Tourism. Here more than anywhere, we are likely to experience the true Maldivian way of life. Shortly after entering the Atoll we arrive to Fenboa Finolhu, another beautiful uninhabited Island where we aim base ourselves for night, again plenty of time to enjoy the beach and snorkel among the reefs. This afternoon we will do a beach cleaning- Collecting plastic. The plastic you collect will be properly recycled through a local environmental nonprofit organization. 1 Million Tourist visits to Maldives annually, producing an average of 3.5kg of garbage each. This night a wonderful beach barbecue will be setup for you if the weather permits on Fenboa Finolhu. Overnight Accommodation on Boat Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Cruise to Dhiggaru, enjoiy Bodu Beru

After a relaxed start we head east to the inhabited island of Dhiggaru. Here we drop anchor outside the reef, a great area for snorkeling. Late afternoon is a good time to visit this lively village. We enjoy the laid-back pace and traditional way of life of its people; as with all the villages that we visit it is important to remember to dress respectfully and behave responsibly. When visiting a house or mosque, shoes must be removed. After dinner onboard you will be entertained Bodu Beru (Big Drum), the traditional folk music of the country. Overnight Accommodation on Boat Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Cruise back to Felidhe Atoll – Local Island Visit/Shopping

Today we head back to Felidhe Atoll and its administrative division includes two geographical Atoll. Felidhe Atoll and small egg-shaped Vattaru Reef, which has only one little islet. This is the least populated of the administrative centers with a population of about 1,601 people. An opportunity to wonder through the island Fulidhoo, every visit ashore presents the chance of having a new experience about the lives of the islanders. Time on your own to do more wondering or do your bit of contribution to the local communities. Buying a small souvenir shows your support and contribution toward local community. As tourism is the main source of income, local communities depend on. Overnight Accommodation on Boat Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Cruise back towards Male’ Atoll – Dolphin watching & Farewell dinner

This morning we cruise back towards South Male‘Atoll. Today we go in search of dolphin. Morning snorkel to Velaafaru falhu. Lunch will be served on board. After lunch we will cruise to Laguna Veli for afternoon snorkel. Spend the night anchorage at Laguna falhu. On arrival do not expect drums and fireworks, as the smiles, the refreshing towels and the drinks at the reception are more than enough. Anchored in the North Ari atoll and shaped like a curved Dhoni (Maldivian traditional boat), Safari Island is a magical place where water and sand lie in contrast to the exuberant green foliage. Even in the Maldives, an island so perfectly formed as Safari is rare. The resort is lush, with wide sandy beaches surrounding the emerald green and is home to one of the most colourful and lively house reef in the Maldives. The island is tiny and cozy, but beautiful, and you can easily walk around in a few minutes. You understand you are in Maldeves in every moment with beautiful sea and sand.

A thread of 15 Semi-Water Bungalows run on one tip of the island. The opposite end is a jetty leading to 39 Water Bungalows. The 30 Beach Bungalows are on the island part in exotic green vegetation including palm trees. All the 84 rooms come with sea view.

Safari Island, overwater restaurant

One side of the island is a clear lagoon and a corals on the other. Greenery has more of some bushes than palms and mangroves. Lagoon part faces the west and has more privacy but is full of dhonies and boats coming and going. Eastern part has more 'Maldivian look' with better beach but is crowded and bungalows have less privacy. There is a small swimming pool close to the restaurant. Also a small library at the reception.  DOWNLOAD RESORT MAP

There are two sides of the island with beach villas - the one where the jetty is and the east side. Its more quiet with sun in the morning up to around 3.30 pm. The jetty side is quite loud as all the small sea planes lands there, but you get sun most of a day and even beautifull sun set. The east side is very quite and I personally think, much much nicer. Every day at 5.30 on the jetty side you can see sharks feeding if you are bored.

As for the clientele, when we were staying there were people from China, Europeans, Americans, Russians, Thais and other Asians. All kind of tourists, families, friends, young and elder couples.

Safari Island, main swimming pool

Ari Atoll is 89km in length and 30km in width and has 105 islands and is administratively divided into two parts: North Atoll Ari and South Ari Atoll. South Ari Atoll, a Protected Marine Area, remains one of the best places in the world to see whale sharks, which are spotted year-round on the outer reef, while North Ari Atoll is famous for its hammerhead sharks, although these are far more elusive and require deep diving to see. Most of the islands are home for the  luxury resorts while others are uninhabited, the rest are inhabited by local residents. The main occupations of Ari Atoll are fishing, sailing, harvesting and processing of corals.  READ MORE

The resort is situated on the beach of Mushimasgali Island in the Maldives. At Velana International Airport (Malé) you'll be met by hotel staff and helpe aboard seaplane. Air Taxi Maldivian will take you from Malé directly to the Safari Island in approximately 20 minutes. The scenic seaplane transfer offers an unforgettable bird’s eye view en route to this Island resort in Maldives.

Dream hideaway, intimate and magical setting; choose from one of the 30 Maldivian types of thatched, detached Beach Bungalows, 15 Semi-Water Bungalows and 39 Water Bungalows. All types of accommodation have direct sea view so that‘s super nice. Best rooms are the Semi-Water Bungalows as these have full privacy, are all South/Southwest (enjoy the sun all day) and are in front of the main entries/exits for the house reef snorkeling.

Room Facilities:

Beach Bungalows (45 sqm) Hot & cold fresh water, Bathtub with separate shower, Air condition, mini fridge, Satellite TV with flat Screen, Hair Dryer, Telephone, Tea/ Coffee making facilities, Wc, Luxury bamboo furniture, Sun Chair, Bathroom amenities ( Bathrobe, Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower gel) Wi-Fi available at cost.

Semi Water Bungalows and Water Bungalows (45sqm): In Addition to the Beach bungalow facilities, Glass bottom table, Backdoor to the private sundeck, direct access to lagoon and land.

Safari Island

Beach Bungalows on the Reef Side are our first recommendation: because you can easy get to house reef, on this side is also the restaurant and the bar, it is not so windy and the beach is also very-very nice. The other side, Lagoon Side, it is windy, good for sports for example, but there are also the Dhoni Boats to see and much more "action and sea waves". There are some Beach Bungalows on this lagoon side, with a thin strip of sand (rooms 110-112).  SEE ROOM № MAP

On the reef side, starting from the restaurant, Beach Bungalows 129 and 130 are very close to the reception, the next ones (120-128) have more beach in front of the villas. There is also the chance bigger that chinese people will "camp" for some hours in front of you, because they mostly book Water Villas. The others 120-113 have more vegetation - that means more privacy.

The Rooms inside are nice, wood mostly, sure they have "some years" but when you find something "damaged" remember, we go wet inside and bring a lot of sand and that is sure not good. Twice per day will be cleaned, so they are really clean, most of the time. The guests like the large window, or rather the entire frontal wall of glass and the sea can be seen directly from the bed. TV, tea, safe, canopy bed. The bathroom has two sinks, separate shower and bath. A covered veranda with two massive deck chairs and your own sun beds on the beach. Bungalows have direct access to the beach, sand is fine as powder, the entrance to the water is very safe.

Safari Island

Semi-Water Bungalows get the best of both beach and over water. Bungalow has an entrance from the shore, and the sun terrace is located above the water with direct access to the blue lagoon. Right opposite the bungalows a few meters away is the house reef teeming with a fish life. Living spaces bathed in warm natural light, perched atop the turquoise lagoon. A full sea-facing wall opens out to the spacious over-water terrace and the expansive lagoon beyond. Some people recommend numbers from 140 to 147 but they are far away from restaurant. If you are too lazy when you are hungry the closest ones like 133 are just perfect. Two great different feelings.

The Overwater Bungalows are smaller than most in the Maldives, but still larger than typical hotel rooms elsewhere. Each stylish residence features a glass-bottom coffee table with direct views down into the lagoon below, plus steps down into the lagoon from the private sun deck. With custom-made rattan furniture, wood floors, these rooms have a real 'wow' factor. Here you’ll also be able to choose between sunset or sunrise views. The furniture, the bathroom is renewed and all is clean. Water Bungalows have the privacy and the view is exactly the same as the photos. Cleaning is good. No complaints.

The Island is surrounded by white powdery, sandy beaches and crystal clear water lagoon and house reef which is attractive for snorkeling and diving with attractive diving spots.

Although you will find beautiful beaches all over the island - yes you can spot also a sandbags on Safari like everywhere else. You must have in mind, the resort try the best to save their island and the beaches for their guests. It is nature, not man's fault. Mostly sandbags protect the island on the northern tip close to Beach Villa 113 and 110-112.

The house reef is just minutes from the shore. Safari Island Resort is one of the few islands having house reef so close to the island. Despite the closeness to the reef, the opposite side of the island have no reef and just clear blue waters if anyone is interested. The lagoon is ideal for watersports.

Safari Island

Dining and Wining

The resort has one restaurant and three bars. Shaded with a magnificent white marquee, the Lagoon restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves food with buffet style, including lively Theme Nights. The restaurant and bars are also set over-water so you‘ll always have spectacular ocean views.

Table and a waiter for each room is reserved. Always ready and clean. Most of the time good meat and chicken are serve by generous portions. Food quality is overall very good, in terms of variety, quantity and most importantly quality. There is almost every evening something new to eat and tasty. Buffets are very rich with 6-7 different stations (Curries, Meat, Vegetables, Very Nice Salads, Pasta Experience Cook, Special Meet Cook, Top Deserts). The prices for Beers (4.50$) and Drinks (8$+) are fair. The special food also can prepare on request. The staff is very gentleman and helpfull. Snacks in the afternoon are limited to couple of types of sandwiches, there should be more alternatives, like salad. At for wine, is dissapointment as only one red, one white and one rose by glass. You should not miss the scheduled meals as there is no other alternatives. No room service. Room refrigerator needs to be filled by your selves.

Sunday night dinner is Maldivian/Asian night with a themed menu and Soups, breads and desserts are homemade and the fresh, tropical fruits are delicious. The buffet lines also include live action, cooking station which the chefs prepare your food as your preference. A Selected A La Carte Menu is available in the Restaurant which is chargeable. Restaurant opening hours: Breakfast: 07.30 - 10:00; Lunch: 12:30 - 14:00 (every Friday lunch at 13:15 - 14:30) Dinner: 19:30 - 21:00

Twice daily the restaurant throws fish scraps into the ocean, which lured in fantastic sea life: massive rays, eels, larger sharks than the usual swimming around everywhere, and more.

Safari Island, main buffwt restaurant

Palm is overwater bar set next to the main restaurant. Floating in the turquoise lagoon is the island bar where guests may enjoy drinks and spend leisure time. Open from morning until the last guest leaves, the bar also has a happy hours. The coffee shop at the main bar also serves a range of coffee, light snacks or special meals which can be enjoyed in the spacious environment, serenaded by the sound of the waves and the ocean breeze. Palm Bar will have a large bar counter, area with seating inside and outside deck, over the lagoon, facing Seaview. The bar has live musik once every 2 weeks on Monday and saturday diving movie by diving center team.

The sundown bar set on a wooden deck with a view of the stunning lagoon turns into a splendid a fair at sundown when nature paints a different scene every dusk. The golden sun sinks beneath the horizon casting a multitude of orange, red and pink hues across the sky and there is no place better to enjoy the show that at sundown bar, accompanied with a drink or two

Pool Bar serves drinks and snacks. All Inclusive guests can enjoy their entitled drinks here. The bar also hosts crab race on every Tuesday night. Guests can choose their own crab from the bucket of crabs and place them in the racing track where you win FREE Beers if your crab crosses the line first.

House Reef Snorkeling

Snorkeling in the Maldives is a must and Safari's house reef offers one of the best snorkeling experience in this part of the country. The waters surrounding the island teem with brightly coloured fish and other marine life. The snorkeling is exciting and provide lots to explore and interact with. An easily accessible, the house reef is 7-8 meters distance from the beach and ideal for snorkeling and diving with live corals and many different kinds of sea creatures.

We have done snork every day for hours. No need to take additional tour, island is surrounded by corals. We have seen sea turtle, swam with sharks. If you stay at the resort at least 5 nights, you also receive a free(!), private(!) boat trip out to sea for even more amazing snorkeling.

Superb snorkelling can be done straight from the shore – from the jetty or via the cut-through by the overwater restaurant – and it’s worth booking one of the snorkelling trips to nearby thilas for the chance to spot manta rays or whale sharks. It takes a little longer to reach the best dive sites, but it’s recommended if you don’t mind the journey.

Scuba diving in Ari Atoll is relaxing, adventurous, sometimes challenging, and always stunning. After North Male, Ari (also known as Alifu) is considered the most visited atoll in Maldives, and this contributes to a high degree to the quality of diving. With white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, many divers rate Ari Atoll's sites to be the best in the country, and they also feature prominently on many Maldivian dive safari routes. Diving in Ari Atoll is not known for the brilliance of its corals. Rather, divers choose these waters for regular discovering pelagic species. Hammerhead sharks, mantas and other pelagics are more common around Ari Atoll, and even the mighty whale shark appears regularly, especially in marine reserves located in the southern part of the atoll.  READ MORE

The resort offers their guests a bespoke Island Vows services set on a secluded stretch of the beach of your choice. Safari Island, spa service

This resort hosts a whole range of reviews, some good and some less than ideal. Positive reviews detail a great staff that are consistently friendly, views that impress and great food. Negative reviews touch on difficult Wi-Fi, semi clean rooms and lack of a manager on-site to help answer questions and take care of concerns. It is important to keep in mind though that this resort is relatively new and complaints may be from kinks that will work themselves out over time.

Safari Island Maldives Travel Plan, Review & Guide

safari maldives

Safari Island Maldives is a fascinating place to enjoy some amazing days in the lap of nature. A specific travel plan is required to make a great tour of Safari Island Maldives. This article will give an overview of trips to Safari Island Maldives.

Water Villas on Safari Island stretch out over the calm waters of the turquoise lagoon. Sea turtles, eagle rays, a college of tropical fish, and even a number of blacktip sharks are frequently noticed patrolling the waters. Mushimasgali’s core is 0.7 kilometers away from Safari Island. Safari Island is 150 feet from the closest beach.

Safari Island Maldives Travel Plan, Review & Guide

The villas accommodate three companies, with further cribs accessible for sleepy infants.

Each villa on the resort options an open-air format, flat display screen televisions, mosquito netting, personal toilet, solar deck, and direct lagoon entry.

The onsite restaurant serves a mixture of Western, Asian, and European dishes. Excursions might be organized in order that the company might strive for sport fishing, snorkel with whale sharks, or going to an uninhabited island for a picnic lunch. Dealing with the beachfront in Mushimasgali, Safari Island has a restaurant and a bar. The resort options an outside swimming pool, health center, night leisure, and a 24-hour entrance desk. Visitor rooms are geared up with air-con, a flat-screen TV with satellite tv for pc channels, a fridge, a kettle, a bath, a hairdryer, and a wardrobe.

That includes a personal toilet with a shower and free toiletries, rooms on the resort additionally supply a sea view. At Safari Island, every room is supplied with a seating space. A continental breakfast is on the market day by day on lodging is one of the considerations for the trip to Safari Island Maldives. Safari Island affords a terrace. You possibly can play desk tennis and darts at the resort. The closest airport is Male Worldwide, 2.5 km from Safari Island, and the property affords a paid airport shuttle service.

Hydroplane tour

Switch to the island was on the hydroplane – among the best a part of our tour. Whereas flying we took the primary row and noticed the whole lot around.

After we arrived the lodge welcomed us with juice and punctiliously took care of anybody is one of the considerations for the trip to Safari Island Maldives.

The views of the island are superb. All the baggage is dealt with on to your bungalow so after you registered for the hydroplane – you needn’t care about the baggage – it is going to be at your bungalow without your dealing with it.

Though the lodge was 80% full (my guess), you’ll by no means see a crowd there. You’re feeling all over the place nearly alone: whereas laying on the balcony or in the pool; snorkeling; enjoying desk tennis; strolling on an island; or going on journeys.

safari maldives

The room service is completed twice a day and for us, it was completed when we have been on breakfast or dinner – thus, the “room boy” NEVER disturbed us once we slept or relaxed.

Additionally few instances we requested him to vary the solar umbrella which obtained damage as a consequence of wind.

The room boy modified it without drawbacks, which is one of the considerations for the trip to Safari Island Maldives.

Accommodation

We performed an investigation for the most effective bungalow to decide on a few weeks earlier than the journey to Safari Island Maldives.

And at last, we managed to search for one. Moreover, it’s nice that the lodge absolutely accepted our request for the Semi-Water bungalow.

Which we obtained – 144. That is the most effective bungalow among the many Semi-water ones, and could also be among the best amongst all of them: Seaside, Semi-water, Water.

It ought to be mentioned that the bungalow classes are completely different in costs, the most affordable one is Seaside, subsequent Semi-Water and eventually, the most costly one is Water.

Nonetheless, my private opinion is that a Water bungalow usually is not your best option there. They’re nearly identical between themselves, so you do not have to pick out the one you need.

However, the drawback of them lay within the lengthy solution to the home from the Restaurant or Reception.

The way in which comes over the bridge is uncovered by the solar. So if you wish to go to the seashore, it could take you many minutes’ journey underneath direct solar.

And thus the Semi-Water bungalow takes benefits providing you with an identical Water-entering from the balcony, similar time having a shut location to the Restaurant and the seashore.

We can not recommend any Water bungalow to pick out as we have been removed from them and by no means been around. Semi-Water is a really good alternative there: you might have each benefit of the Seaside and Water ones, however, nonetheless, a fantastic number of actual homes is required.

The 143, 144, and 145 have the closest location to reach the seashore on the opposite facet and the reef entrance is close to the Pleasure Dive.

Thus, they’re the most effective to select from. The bungalow 145 isn’t separated from the Pleasure Dive middle, thus, folks might even see you typically on the balcony. 144 and 143 are absolutely particular person and no one nearly by no means go to you there from water.

The seashore on the opposite facet is basically good because it goes deep to 3-5 meters very quickly and nearly nobody uses it – so you possibly can fill alone on the seashore too.

Btw, this sector of the seashore is deep and thus it’s used for the boats, nevertheless, the boats don’t journey right here usually, so you might freely swim there. Plus, no corals – you possibly can enter the water there with nude toes.

The numbers from 131 to 142 – usually are not instantly linked to the seashore on the opposite facet.

The 131 and 132 are positioned close to the seashore which is near the restaurant, however, it isn’t deep there, so it is not superb.

Extra, the drawback to the bungalows of 133-140 is that the corals there are actually close to the bungalow water exit, and the entrances to the reef are far.

As to conclude: the most effective ones amongst Semi-Water bungalows are 142-144. Additionally, you might even see the sundown from them if there aren’t any clouds.

The Seaside bungalows are the least expensive, however, they’re good as they’ve entry to the seashore instantly and the view out of the window is unbelievable.

The one drawback right here can also be the fantastic number of homes.

They’re grouped: 101-112 and 113-130. Those 101-112 go to the seashore which is close to the boat place. The number of corals there may be low and thus, you have to go to the opposite facet to work.

Plus, typically the odor there maybe not be good, as a consequence of boat engines. The opposite facet of the island is best – you might take any Bungalow.

The closest to the Spa middle 113, 114, and 115 have the most important space of your “private” seashore. The 123 and 124 have terrific views.

safari maldives

The 126-130 are the closest to the deep reef entrance. Be at liberty to browse the photographs to see the most effective view you need. Typically the seashore at the entrance isn’t so good e.g. 111,112,130, so pay attention to this.

Inside Bungalow

The bungalow has a really good design: having an extra path from the balcony onto your bath and the foot washbasin in the entrance the predominant entrance during Safari Island Maldives.

The furnishings inside are fabricated from bamboo which makes the whole lot really feel very comfy. The plumbing is nice. Typically in the evening instances, you might even see some ants within the bathe, however, “room boy” can assist with this.

The mattress of king measurement is nice and has a particular rack for evening studying or film watching which I cherished very a lot.

The air-con is new and is NOT directed to the mattress. The water and semi-water bungalow have a desk with clear glass – so you possibly can see the water beneath (mild is on the market for evening instances).

Nonetheless, the water-view deck isn’t so nice for a semi-water bungalow as the home is near the coast, however nonetheless a cool inside ingredient.

There have been about Four towels per individual within the closet: face, hand, bathtub, and seashore one. Mosquitoes have been uncommon inside.

The sunbeds with mattresses supplied on the balcony are very comfy. We used to put on them in the evening instances and watched the celebrities and sunset in Safari Island Maldives.

The reef at Safari island is nice and alive – you possibly can see right here nearly the whole lot you need. Besides the whale shark and Mantas.

Everything else is right here from turtles to reef sharks, lionfishes, morays, and so on in Safari Island Maldives.

There are some journeys to snorkeling places provided by the lodge, however, the ones who visited them, say – nothing completely different from the house reef.

Please, word of reef entrances – there usually are not a lot, the favored one is close to the restaurant, they feed sharks there around 16:30 to 17:00. Different ones are close to bungalow 144 and bungalow 128.

When you entered the deep reef utilizing the doorway – then you might journey alongside it to both facets you need in Safari Island Maldives.

We have been on HB there and we can say that it’s utterly sufficient to reside with no drawback in Safari Island Maldives.

The lunch goes around 13:00 for that point you aren’t getting hungry from breakfast should you take it around 9:00, so the lunch isn’t actually wanted.

As for drinks – day after day they give you 1 bottle of water per private in the morning, and for the dinner, you might convey it to the restaurant if you need it in Safari Island Maldives.

It’s possible you’ll order a 1.5L bottle on the dinner and depart it on the desk for subsequent dinners – this can be a nice choice. We used 1 bottle per 3-Four dinners.

The HB+ choice affords you drinks, however evaluating the worth of HB+ and the bottle of water, we determined to not go to HB+ as we do not drink alcohol.

The AI choice was out of our scope. Within the bungalow, you possibly can warm the water and get espresso or tea in Safari Island Maldives.

The breakfast has traditional stuff: oatmeal, eggs, bacon, beans, omelet, salads, fruits, milk, and jam. The juices provided for breakfast weren’t water-downed from focus as in European lodges, however from 1L packs so they tasted yummy.

The dinner affords a variety of stuff: from fish, pork ribs, meat steaks, hen, and pasta to sushi and wok. Desserts have been often the same, however, typically have been good in Safari Island Maldives.

Probably the most marvelous stuff is – Papaya!! It’s possible you’ll eat it each time you need it – for breakfast or dinner.

That is actually a good meal because it accommodates a lot of water so that you needn’t drink water a lot. Simply eat papaya as a substitute in Safari Island Maldives.

Any meal plate on the dinner began with papaya, then meat, fish, or dessert – irrespective of the. Papaya accommodates a particular enzyme – Papain which improves digestion (meat and so on).

So, if you have issues with the alimentary monitor – right here it is going to be okay. Additionally, on the final day, we purchased 2 full papayas on the bar to convey residence within the airplane.

safari maldives

One of the best a part of the Maldives’ climate is its fixed temperature. Round 30 degree Celsius in Safari Island Maldives.

Regardless of what’s going on – the clouds or rain or evening time – you exit the bungalow and it’s comfy.

You must know that in the Maldives there are all the time small clouds in the sky, nevertheless, it doesn’t suggest there isn’t a solar in Safari Island Maldives.

Nearly all the time. We arrived on 26 August and there was rain the night, however, the day and morning were sunny.

In three instances there was enormous rain overnight and evening: on the second, third, and final days in Safari Island Maldives.

We had a few days (1-2) the place clouds closed solar in the midday instances, nevertheless, it was nonetheless comfortable to swim.

The bungalow has cloaks for each of us, which we used to run for the dinner in the rain.

Some prefer to swim on a wet evening – it was significantly better to be in the water, than underneath the rain. Even if it is wet, the temperature remains to be okay.

First 5-6 days the night was cloudy, so we did not notice sundown or stars, however then the whole lot was modified in Safari Island Maldives.

And for the remainder 7 days, we noticed every day sundown and a phenomenal sky with stars from our balcony.

The Milky manner and many of the stars have been seen completely. It was very nice to put on the balcony and watch the celebrities, in such comfortable climate circumstances. We nearly go to sleep there.

Web now could be accessible on all locations of the island together with bungalows, however, it’s sluggish at prime instances. We recommend taking a Wi-Fi repeater with you to translate signs from the reception in Safari Island Maldives.

The employees are basically good and really nice. The gratuity is at your will, we handed some to the room boy throughout the trip and gave it on the finish on departure in Safari Island Maldives.

Similar to the restaurant man. The supervisor of the lodge helped loads and solved our drawback absolutely. He mentioned that the one factor he needed from us is to be happy in Safari Island Maldives.

Extra stuff

Some prefer the departure letter – within the night earlier than the departure day, the lodge administration sends you a letter with all of the details about your check-out and departure.

The letter is nice in the sense that a strict algorithm is supplied: baggage accumulates time out of your room, your breakfast time, your check-out time, and your departure time in Safari Island Maldives.

On the seashore close to our bungalow there aren’t a lot of night lights, which makes the evening even darker than traditional.

So be certain you are taking your masks and go into the water for 5-6 meters from the shore. Then begin to look underwater by shifting your fingers – you will notice the lights!! Nearly like magic!

The extra you progress fingers the extra lights you see.

Every 7 nights of your keep a Safari boat is obtainable for you – which you’ll use to journey anyplace you need: from the inhabited island to the native island or Manta level. The crew consists of three folks and a ship is available for you from 9am to 16pm.

Disadvantages

• Outdated furnishings • Not a lot of cleansing was completed within the room in Safari Island Maldives

In fact, extra disadvantages could possibly be recognized, however, the general expertise from this trip was fantastic.

Final thought

This place appears like a paradise, your private paradise. No disturbance of your soul and thoughts. Simply leisure and pondering of science! Exceeded expectations by each parameter. Thanks for reading about this marvelous place, the Safari Island Maldives.

Location, escursioni, cibo e comfort eccezionali. Ho apprezzato molto la possibilità di trascorrere una notte presso la struttura della stessa proprietà su Angaga Island. Nel tragitto ho potuto scoprire tratti di barriera corallina e sandbanks indimenticabili.

How guest reviews work

Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.

You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.

We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.

Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

  • Politically sensitive comments
  • Promotional content
  • Illegal activities
  • Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
  • Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
  • Spam and fake content
  • Animal cruelty
  • Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
  • Any violation of our review guidelines.

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Guidelines and standards for Reviews

These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.

Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

If you booked through us and want to leave a review, please sign in first.

Safari Island Resort and Spa – Maldives

safari maldives

The Safari Island Resort and Spa features a private beach, sand banks, and a small accessible reef. Guests here will also find 39 overwater bungalows along with 15 more Semi-Overwater Bungalows that are perched just on the edge of the island. The resort also has 30 beach bungalows, but it is still on the smaller side and only houses one restaurant, a coffee shop, and a bar.

The overwater bungalows here are smaller than most rooms in the Maldives, but they are still larger than typical hotel rooms elsewhere. Each room features a glass-bottom coffee table with direct views down into the lagoon below, plus steps down into the lagoon from the private sun deck. At launch the off season rates are among the most appealing in the Maldives, while the high season rates aren't quite as low.

WHAT THE REVIEWS SAY

This resort hosts a whole range of reviews, some good and some less than ideal. Positive reviews detail a great staff that are consistently friendly, views that impress and great food. Negative reviews touch on difficult Wi-Fi, semi clean rooms and lack of a manager on-site to help answer questions and take care of concerns. It is important to keep in mind though that this resort is newer and complaints may be from kinks that will work themselves out over time.
