A Guide To Thailand's Island Party Cruises

Take in the sights

With a string of gorgeous, paradisaical islands, stunning bays, cheap and delicious drinks and clear, cerulean water, Thailand’s a great place to go if you’re looking to kick back and relax in beautiful surroundings. However, if lying on the beach all day doesn’t sound particularly appealing, then a party cruise might be the right choice for you. Boats depart for the calm, inviting seas every day, filled with tourists with just one thing on their mind, and that’s to have a good time. Keen to join them? Here’s more about what to expect on Thailand’s party cruises.

A boozy affair.

With the sun shining, the water glistening and the boat full of fun-hungry, easy-going travelers, it’s only natural that alcohol consumption on a party cruise is high. More often than not, the price you pay for a ticket to a party cruise includes a free drink to sweeten the deal. For the more expensive tours, tickets often include an open bar, where alcohol is served on an all you can drink basis, either at a bar on the mainland prior and post you trip or on the boat itself. Whilst beer is easy and popular on these kinds of tours, this is Thailand after all — so expect buckets to feature on the menu too.

Enjoy a beer pre, during and post your cruise

Nobody should drink on an empty stomach – and the party cruises will have you covered in this respect. Whether it’s finger food on the boat or a buffet amongst the stunning surroundings of Maya Bay, food is often served on these tours and, whilst it might not be too adventurous or exciting — think fried rice and sliced watermelons and pineapples — they’ll do the job.

There’s no need to panic if you’re not into alcohol because that’s only one feature of these cruises. As well as the fun and the revelry on board, party cruises will also stop at various popular landmarks, combining a relaxed, social drinking experience with an engaging and in-depth tour. Party cruises around Phuket might take in various beaches and islands close to the mainland, whilst the boats in Koh Phi Phi will head to the typical Phi Phi tour hotspots of Pileh Bay, Monkey Beach and, of course, the unforgettable Maya Bay. Tour guides can speak English, helping to provide information about your destinations and turning your tour from average to unforgettable.

Activities and safety

Thought the party cruises were just a fun day of drinking and seeing the sights? Think again. Most party cruises offer a range of other activities to keep you busy and having the time of your life. From snorkeling in the clear sea to kayaking to nearby beaches, there’s no need to sit on the boat all day, though nor is there any obligation to take part in any activities or leave the boat to see the tour stops. It’s your trip, and you can enjoy it however you want to. Regardless of what you get up to, you can count on being well looked after by the tour guides who’ll be with you at all times. Well trained and sober, they’ll keep an eye on you and steer you away from potential harm, and will make sure that you’re in the right state of being to partake in any activities before you do so — because nobody wants one of the most memorable days of your holiday to be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Plenty of activities

Which party cruises are the best?

Phuket and Phi Phi are hotbeds for party cruises, with several fun companies to choose from. If you’re looking for a tour of the idyllic surroundings of Koh Phi Phi that’s a little different and features copious amounts of alcohol, then the Phi Phi Pirate Boat party is the one for you. Whilst many party boats are modern and clean, this tour uses an old-fashioned, pirate-style boat that certainly attracts attention from onlookers and is a unique, fun experience. Other boozy cruises around Phi Phi to enjoy are the Blanco Boat Party and Captain Bob’s Cruise , each with live music, activities such as kayaking and, of course, tonnes of alcohol. For something cut from a different cloth, the Hype Luxury Boat Club experience is a little more upmarket than some party boats, but with talented DJs performing on board and an extensive drinks menu, there’s still ample opportunity to cut loose and enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. Departing from Phuket, this stylish modern catamaran is not cheap, but tickets include a welcome cocktail and free food, such as sushi and tapas, so it’s well worth the entry price. A party cruise for the more discerning traveler.

Thailand, Bangkok Marble Temple

From Ancient Temples to Modern Towers

Thailand cruises.

Whether you're seeking paradise islands or contemplative temples, Thailand has it all.

Thailand is unique in Southeast Asia — it's the only country that never capitulated to a foreign power, so its culture and character remain distinctive and intact. You'll see it as you eat your way through varieties of spicy noodles at Bangkok's street food markets, take an hour for quiet contemplation in the temples of Chiang Mai or bask in the vibrant colors of Krabi and Phuket. Cruise to Thailand to explore stunning beaches like Kata Noi and Ya Nui near Phuket, glide down the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok in a traditional Thai boat, or adventure through the country's historic spots and see the Buddhas at the Grand Palace and the Wat Pho Temple.

LEAVE THE LAND BEHIND

No matter where your Thailand cruise calls, a beautiful beach isn't far away. Sun yourself on the beaches of Krabi, or head out on a boating expedition in Bangkok or Phuket. Either way, you'll fall in love with the turquoise waters of Thailand.

Thailand, Boats by Railey Beach

THAI TAXI TRIPS

Long-tail boats are more than just pretty things to photograph, though you'll surely be called to snap a few photos of them. As far as southern Thailand's seafarers are concerned, they're the original taxi. If you're up for a getaway, hop on one of these water taxis for a day trip from Krabi or Phuket to quiet islands like Koh Poda or party spots like Koh Phi Phi.

Thailand, Krabi Beach

BEACh-YA YOU WON'T WANT TO LEAVE

All of Thailand's beaches are amazing, but you're sure to notice some important differences. While the islands of the Andaman Sea (to the west and south of Phuket) feature dramatic cliffs and fluorescent waters, white sand and more muted shades of turquoise define the experience of swimming in the Gulf of Thailand south of Bangkok . No matter where you take a dip, though, you'll be in paradise.

Thailand, Scuba Diving Training

SEAS THE DAY

Thailand's Koh Tao island is one of the world's most affordable and enjoyable places to SCUBA dive or get certified. Don't have time for a course? You can get amazing underwater views when you snorkel, so be sure to bring your underwater camera.

Thailand, Bangkok Grand Palace

INLAND ADVENTURES

Thais are rightfully proud of their heritage, from the long-ruling Chakri dynasty to hundreds of years of Theravada Buddhism. From ancient culture to the pulse of modern Bangkok, you'll find a unique mix of the historic and the contemporary in Thailand with your cruise vacation.

Chicken Pad Thai

SAVOR THE FLAVOR

Thailand's street food scene boasts quick, delicious meals to fuel you as you adventure through the cities. Don't be afraid to dive into local delicacies during your vacation, or pair familiar favorites like Pad Thai noodles and green curry chicken with tangy  Som Tam  papaya salad or crispy  Khaaw Muu Grop  pork belly with rice.

Thailand, Monkey by a Buddhist Pagoda Ruins

MONKEY AROUND IN THAILAND

Thailand offers a ton of opportunities to responsibly get wild. Ethical establishments like the Gibbon Rehabilitation Center in Phuket allow visitors to honor nature as they observe it, and at Khao Yai National Park, a less-than-two-hour drive from Bangkok, you can see elephants roam the land before you raft below thundering waterfalls.

Thailand, Chiang Mai

CITY AND COUNTRY

While Thailand's temples give you a peek into ancient history, its cities offer more modern adventures. Explore award-winning shopping malls like Bangkok's Siam Paragon, or enjoy a panorama from the viewing deck of Baiyoke Sky Tower. To glimpse local culture, visit rice fields outside Chiang Mai or the villages of Phuket.

Thailand, Phang Bay Traditional Long Tail Boat

Start Your Southeast Asian Adventure in Thailand

While Krabi and Phuket have world-class beaches, you can find beautiful views all over Southeast Asia. Continue sailing southward toward Malaysia, where islands like Langkawi and Penang fuse amazing Andaman scenery with a mix of eclectic cultures. Southeast Asia is a wonderland for urban travelers, too. See the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi, explore ancient cities like Hong Kong or take advantage of world-class shopping, from Singapore's upmarket Orchard Road to the rough-and-tumble markets of Ho Chi Minh City.

Thailand, Phuket Islands

THE PHUKET PERARL

While Phuket is where many travelers arrive in Thailand, it is also the perfect start to a Southeast Asian journey. Take long-tail boat trips to Koh Phi Phi or Koh Khao Phing Kan (aka "James Bond Island"), or explore the inland part of the island, where you can walk the streets of old-town Phuket or enjoy a panorama from atop the aptly named "Big Buddha."

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam Ben Duoc Temple

STEP INTO SOUTHEAST ASIA

Thailand is both a cross-section of Southeast Asia and a gateway to the region. Cruise through the Andaman Sea to Malaysia, or sail into the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea to explore destinations like Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines . By adventuring through Southeast Asia, you're sure to see the region come alive.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO The Thai-Land of Paradise

Thailand is as much of a revelation for new Southeast Asia travelers as it is for those who are experienced in the region, and you can tailor your experience to your preferences — whether you're into nature trekking, beachside relaxation or urban exploring. Not impressed by the sprawling markets of Bangkok or the towering limestone cliffs of Krabi? Phuket's Old Town and Chiang Mai's Golden stupas should do the trick.

With their incredible hospitality, the Thai people embody the nation's nickname, the "Land of Smiles." Whether they greet you at your hotel with a friendly wai and bow or deliver you delicious local cuisine, Southeast Asia's most independent people are also its most welcoming.

Family Sailing in Antigua, St. John's, Antigua

5 Reasons Why Cruises Fit Any Family

Basic English is broadly spoken in areas of Thailand where tourists often visit, but learning some basic Thai will earn you many smiles.

Service of alcohol in Thailand is prohibited before 11 a.m. and between 2-5 p.m., so be sure to head to the bar at the right times.

To show respect for local customs, remove your shoes whenever entering a temple or a local person's home.

CUISINE HOW TO SAY "DELICIOUS" IN THAI

Thai can be a difficult language for non-natives, but you should definitely learn the word  aroi , which means "delicious." It'll be the perfect way to describe the indulgent cuisine of the area, full of bright spices, pungent fish sauce and tangy vinegar.

Pad Thai Traditional Noodles

WOK ThIS WAY

Whether you eat it with shrimp, pork or chicken, few Thai dishes are more satisfying than stir-fried noodles, also known as pad thai. Stop by one of the food stalls on Charoen Krung Road or another of Bangkok's popular street food spots, where pad thai is traditionally cooked up with tangy-sweet paste of tamarind, a tropical fruit.

Thai Green Curry with Chicken

Spicy, creamy green curry is even more delicious in Thailand than it is at home. The creamy coconut milk base of this comforting Thai classic is made with fragrant green chilies, lemongrass, ginger and garlic. Make sure to order rice, since the dish is served a la carte here.

Green Papaya Salad

PAPAYA PRIDE

There's no better way to get a taste of Thailand's northeast Isaan cuisine than som tam, a salad made with shredded green papaya, fresh tomatoes, dried shrimp, a squeeze of lime juice and as much or as little chili as you like.

Experience a party cruise on board our luxury catamaran during this half-day sunset tour from Phuket. Our vessel is like a VIP lounge club on the water and will take you to some of Southern Thailand’s most popular tropical islands. Mingle with like-minded travellers as you enjoy the party atmosphere in one of the world’s most beautiful corners.

While the DJ plays upbeat tunes, you can eat, drink and party on board as you sail between each of the islands. Our first stop is Coral Island where you’ll have time to swim and snorkel before feasting on a delicious buffet.

If you’re feeling active, you can participate in a range of additional water sports, such as jet-skiing, parasailing and banana boating. Please let us know ahead of time and we can book these for you!

Our next destination is Racha Yai Island where you’ll have more time to snorkel and swim or can opt to stroll along its white sandy beach. On return to Phuket, we’ll sail past Promthep Cape as the sun sets and (weather permitting) be treated to unforgettable views.

Between 11:00 and 11:30 am, it’s time to board your catamaran at the Chalong Pier where you will be welcomed with a cocktail and fresh towel. Find a comfortable seat on one of the day beds as we set sail for Coral Island, with a delicious buffet served onboard.

On arrival at Coral Island, you’ll have plenty of time (1.5 hours) to swim, snorkel and participate in a range of water activities before we continue to Racha Yai Island. During the journey, relax on one of the day beds while enjoying a drink and soaking up the party atmosphere.

Around 3:00 pm, we will arrive at Racha Yai Island for another swimming and snorkelling session. Alternatively, you may want to stretch your legs with a walk on the island’s idyllic, white sandy beach.

At 4:15 pm, we’ll begin sailing back to Chalong Pier while being treated to a magnificent sunset over Prompthep Cape. We’ll arrive back at the Chalong Pier around 6:30 pm where your luxury catamaran party cruise ends.

Please Note: The itinerary above is approximate only and may be modified without notice due to local weather and tide conditions.

From Racha island you make your way back to Phuket past Promthep Cap (Phukets very famous southern viewpoint) as the sun sets.

• PHI LAY LAGOON is nestled within Phi Phi Lay and is one of the hidden gems of the island. With aqua blue water and limestone cliffs surrounding all around, you’ll find it hard to better this scenery in Thailand.

• One of the most famous stops on our tour is MAYA BAY . Situated on the island Phi Phi Lay, most of you will have watched the film featuring Leonardo DiCaprio “The Beach” which was filmed on Maya Bay in 2000. At the moment Maya Beach is closed for an environmental recovery so we stop in the bay for a photo and enjoy the views but nobody is allowed on the beach.

Need to know

Frequently asked questions, transportation, about the trip, refund and cancellation policy, location on google maps, what to bring.

Below we have answered the most common questions regarding transport to Blanco and Koh Phi Phi.

We meet at Blanco Beach Bar at 12:45pm. It is located on Loh Dalum Bay, Koh Phi Phi.

Blanco Beach Bar is located on an island called Koh Phi Phi. When you arrive at Tonsai Pier, walk past McDonald’s and go straight to the other side of the island, about a 3 minute walk. Once you reach Loh Dalum Bay, turn right and walk along the beach for around 8 minutes. Blanco Beach Bar is just after the Ibiza Pool.

Koh Phi Phi is only accessible by ferry service. The 2 main places to get a ferry to Koh Phi Phi are Phuket and Krabi. Both places offer multiple times a day from 9am until 3pm. The journey takes 2 hours to get to the island. There are also ferry services from other nearby islands, Koh Lanta and Koh Yao.

You can buy ferry tickets at the pier before you board but that is generally more expensive. You are better off buying a ferry ticket from a travel agent or at your hotel.

The last ferry service to leave the island is at 3:30 pm. The only way to get off Koh Phi Phi after our Boat Party finishes at 7:00pm is by private speed boat. We can organize this for you if it is necessary but it will cost around 15,000 THB. So it’s not cheap.

Below we have answered the most common questions what happens on the boat party, cancellations etc.

The itinerary can vary depending on weather and tides. We stop at Monkey Beach, Viking Cave, Pi Leh Lagoon, Loh Samah Bay, Maya Bay Bay and Sunset Point.

We meet at Blanco Beach Bar at 12:45pm and depart at 1:30pm. We return around 7:00pm.

Blanco Beach Bar is also a party hostel. We also have three other smaller hostels called Blanco Central Hostel, Ocean Club and Rehab Hostel not far away. You can book directly on this website. In most of our locations we only offer dorm style rooms. If you are after private rooms have a look at Ocean Club or Blanco Central Hostel.

Yes we sell cheap drinks on the boat. We have Vodka, Rum, Chang and Leo beer for sale. As mixers we offer Sprite and Coke.

No that’s not possible. Our drinks are super affordable though.

Minimum age is 18 years old. No children allowed even if accompanied by parents.

We spend around 30-45 minutes in Maya Bay and will take a group picture before we head back to the boat.

Yes, free water is available at all times.

Yes we have a DJ who plays music throughout the day.

Yes we serve vegetarian fried rice and some fresh fruit.

We go out every day.

No, every day is busy and we recommended pre-booking online to avoid disappointment.

Yes most of the boat is covered.

Yes there are two western style toilets on the boat.

If the tour is cancelled due to bad weather you will receive a full refund. You will need to be at Blanco Beach Bar to collect the refund. It’s not often the tour is cancelled. Maybe less than 10 times a year.

We have a maximum capacity of 70 people.

That ‘s fine. Just email us at [email protected] the day before your booking and we will move your booking free of charge to any day you wish.

Yes we do. Please email [email protected] for more information.

Below you can find out what is advised to bring along on the boat.

We recommend not taking too much. The same you would take to the beach. Sunscreen, towel, swimwear and some money if you want to purchase drinks.

Learn about our refund and cancellation policy.

Your deposit is non-refundable. However you can change the date of your booking at any stage before 11am on the day of your booking by emailing us at [email protected], or seeing us in person at Blanco Beach Bar. After 11am on the day of your booking you cannot change your booking and your deposit will be lost.

Testimonials

It was fun meeting new people from different places and interacting with them. My friends and I enjoyed the boat party. Thank you, Blanco!

One of our best days in Asia. The snorkeling was great, the sights are amazing, and the fact that you do it all from a boat party with cool people makes it even better. The drink prices are very affordable but if you’d rather focus and the tour it’s fine. Just an amazing day.

  • Chao Phraya Princess Dinner Cruise

party cruise boat

the review might be a bit skewed as my expectations was that of a dinner + commentary on the sights along the river. how wrong i was. dinner was passable, and there was a lot of karaoke and singing inside the boat and outside there was more singing, dancing and partying essentially. so if crowds and loud music ain't really your thing, this is probably not the cruise for you. i suspect that our boat was the loudest on the river (i distinctly saw some other people on other boats eye this boat with envy) thanks to the boisterous energy of the lady dj, singer and the passengers. well, once you let go of that expectation of peace and quiet, and go with the flow, it can be quite fun. as they say, if you can't beat 'em - join 'em! oppa gungam style! (still i would rather spend more money elsewhere)

-We went on this because I really wanted to go down the river in the evening but we were actually very disappointed the highlight was the sights. - It was extremely unorganised getting on the boat and also being on the boat. - Please just ran to the buffet and grabbed like 2 or 3 plates of food which I thought was strange since it was there during the whole ride. - The food was a good selection but not very good. Had very nice fresh prawns but they didn't even bother to take the insides out of the prawn which maybe I am picky but that is disgusting! - I won't go on it again and if there is another way to go at night down the river do that istead because the food and the entertainment is not worth it.

Visited with family (5 person) on 5th December. Booked and paid via hotels2thailand website after obtaining info from review of fellow tripadvisor. Rate at official website is 1400baht whereas hotels2thailand is about 800baht (transport included from Bangkok city). VAT not included yet for both. Boarding and disembarkation at River City Shopping centre. We were seated at upper deck. International buffet dinner with varieties of food and sufficient to go 2nd, 3rd rounds. No need to rush. Food should be the same lover deck. Free flow of cold water, coffee & tea. There is a DJ up front entertaining us. Toilets at lower deck and very clean. Most of us were too busy eating and chatting to enjoy the view but will be able to do so on return journey. Boat will slow down at each interesting, brightly lighted tourist sites such Wat Arun, Wat Phra Kaew and Grand Palace.

wife and i was on a tour from china to thailand and our group went on a cruise on the river. it was great and dinner was served on the boat.. I will say the good was good and a lot of it. it was a hour an half cruise and we enjoyed it very much.. yes there is singing on the boat as there is music..also the crowds getting to the boats may send people away.. but over all we enjoyed it..we also had a set next to windows so we took a lot of pictures. this was paid thru our tour

Picked up from our hotel in a smart bus, after 1.25 hours we arrived at the dock, chaos, people everywhere, after a small delay the boat sailed in, it looked beautiful, our table was adjacent to the buffet court. I knew the evening was turning bad when the first wave of diners pushed their way to the buffet and almost took our table with them. We then queued for along time for luke warm food, the staff were efficient in serving water and clearing away the plates. The entertainment was very good, however the reason we went was for dinner and see the river, sadly the views from the boat were ok, but no way near as good as Hong Kong and insignificant when compared to Shanghai !! There were 8 people in our bus, and we all paid different prices, then the people on our table paid another price, there are booking agents and concierges who are profiteering on our bookings! My summary is a lot of hassle, poor food, average views and not cheap!

We were only in Bangkok for one night before flying home. We had spent time in the city before, so decided to try a dinner cruise. We particularly wanted to have live music, which is why we chose this one. Waiting to get on the boat was quite chaotic, there were crowds of people waiting for different boats, and the driver who took us to the pier had disappeared. The food was OK, it could have been warmer, but there was a good selection including desserts. Of course there was the usual greedy behaviour at the buffet. My husband saw someone scooping food into a plastic box, another person took a whole tray of food from the display and took it to their table. However the lovely views of Bangkok as we sailed along made us forget all the 'hassle'. We were on the upper deck, and were moved to a table at the side where we had a better view. Staff were very nice. The singer was good, while everyone ate she sang 'easy listening' type songs. Later she sang in Chinese for a table of people from China, then went on to Russian songs which encouraged lively dancing. This was a nice ending to our holiday.

5 Boat Parties in Thailand You Need to Know

It's The Ship, Holy Ship, Shipsomnia, Mad Decent Boat Party and Ultra Europe Boat Party - we have seen their after movies, and it seems the only thing that can possibly be better than partying, is partying on a boat. While Thailand does not have its own cruise festival (yet), there are some noteworthy boat party series that blaze a trail. We have compiled a list, in no particular order, of the 5 Boat Parties in Thailand you need to know.
