  • Sam Can Picard or any of the people on Star Trek change 2D to 3D with their brain? I can. started about 15 years ago. Some strange things but my brain fixed any problems. I was watching a football game on TV and all of a sudden it was in 3D. I said that is 3D and since then 3D TV all the time. Images in magazines newspapers etc. There is nothing like seeing a painting on TV and I see the subject in 3D not like being there however. Need stereo cameras for that. A doctor told me it has happened to others for a short time. I just keep going. I do have one medical problem with it. I get hairline objects in my vision. Usually takes 30 min. to clear up. I just hope they keep going away. I revealed this before in comments on another site and I was asked if I was an alien. Nope. I am just like you . Maybe I have a gene that you don't have. As far as I know I am the only one. Anybody else have this ability? Please respond. Yes it is great to have this ability. Any smarter? W ell I did figure out a couple of years ago that DOD could have had SRB ICBM before WW2 if some smart guy had thought of it. So 13 years after the conversion. I guess I am still a slow thinker. Believe it or not. I am enjoying 3D TV. Why have not the Star Trek writers used this? They did not think of it? Reply
  • Sam I watched. You did not say anything about decapitation. You should have warned me. Why don't you show that clip? Fortunately only 2 to go in the story. I was going to watch the other one, but I forgot how much violence and cussing. So I will not watch that either. I will cancel. Reply

The first episode of Star Trek: Picard’s final season is free to watch on YouTube

You can decide if the show is worth the paramount+ subscription..

If you read Engadget regularly, you probably know how we feel about the final season of Star Trek: Picard . In short, it’s not worth your time . But if you must see the show for yourself, or can’t resist the chance to see the Enterprise-D crew one last time , Paramount is offering a free way to watch the first episode of season three. Provided you live in the US, you can catch “The Next Generation” (no, not that Next Generation ) on YouTube for a limited time ( via Gizmodo ). And if you don't live in the US, you can probably find a way to transport yourself for an hour, can't you?

The debut episode sees Jean-Luc Picard return from retirement (yet again) after his friend and former first officer Will Riker receives a warning from Dr. Beverly Crusher. Engadget Senior Editor Daniel Cooper had the chance to watch the first six episodes of season three before it began streaming earlier this month on Paramount+ . In his view, the final season is dull and joyless, with a plot that is far too obvious. But don't let that stop you from making your own decision.

Star Trek: Picard’s pilot is available free on YouTube and Pluto TV

Nick Woodard

For a limited time, CBS has made the pilot episode for Star Tr ek: Picard available for free on YouTube.

The series’ primary home is CBS All Access , the streaming video service launched by ViacomCBS. The second episode arrived on the app Wednesday, and CBS is making the first episode freely available on YouTube serves as an opportunity for viewers to check the series out before deciding if they want to subscribe to yet another streamer.

  • Star Trek: Picard season 3’s ending, explained
  • 5 TV shows coming in February you need to watch
  • YouTube TV now available in 5.1 surround sound on Amazon Fire TV devices

Pluto TV , a free, ad-sported streaming video service, will also repeatedly stream the first episode of  Picard  on a 24-hour marathon on Thursday, Jan. 30, then every evening at 8 p.m. ET on Pluto TV’s Sci-Fi channel through February 5. Pluto TV is owned by ViacomCBS, so the partnership makes sense.

CBS has not said whether it plans to make additional episodes of the series available for free in the future, nor has it specified how long “available for a limited time” actually will be for the pilot.

That subscription for CBS All Access, by the way, will run $6 per month for an ad-supported version and $10 for ad-free content on the service, which first launched back in October 2014.

The series , which has Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as USS Enterprise Captain Jean-Luc Picard, has so far gotten solid reviews from critics. It centers around Picard, who at the outset of the pilot has retreated to a quiet life on his vineyard some 14 years after his retirement from Starfleet. Picard is soon sought out by a young woman, Dahj (Isa Briones), and a new mission comes to the forefront.

It’s seen as an important series for the CBS streaming service, especially considering the ever-increasing competition in the streaming landscape.

CBS hasn’t officially released its total number of subscribers, reports suggest the number could be somewhere between four and five million. Those prospective numbers are rivaled by statistics from companies like Netflix (158 million subscriptions), Hulu (28.5) and even Disney+ , which reportedly earn 10 million subscribers within 24 hours of launching.

Star Trek: Picard has already been renewed for a second season, set to premiere in 2021. Another Star Trek series, Star Trek: Discovery , is reportedly returning for a third season.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will explore the cosmos with the original captain of the Enterprise, Christopher Pike, this spring. However, the prequel series apparently has plans for Pike's successor as well. Via Deadline, Paul Wesley has signed on for season two as a younger version of James T. Kirk. William Shatner's Captain Kirk was one of the icons of the original Star Trek. For the reboot films, Chris Pine has assumed the role of Kirk in three movies to date.

Wesley previously headlined The Vampire Diaries for eight seasons as Stefan Salvatore. More recently, he appeared in Tell Me A Story and the Shudder original film History of Evil. Wesley has expanded his career to directing, helming episodes of Shadowhunters, Legacies, and Roswell, New Mexico.

For the first time in 20 years, Whoopi Goldberg is back in the Star Trek universe. In the new trailer for Star Trek: Picard season 2, Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard faces a time-bending problem. But there's no one better-suited to give him advice than his old friend, Guinan (Goldberg). And while the future of humanity and the Federation may be at stake, Guinan tells Picard that the "answers are not in the stars. And they never have been."

The trailer also seems to indicate that John de Lancie's Q was not responsible for the incident that put Picard and his crew into a new timeline. However, Q is definitely taking advantage of the chaos to put Picard through another test. The nearly omnipotent being hasn't appeared to Picard since the final episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. And Q always relishes his mind games, because the trial of humanity never ends.

Paramount+ is more than just the streaming home for every new Star Trek series. However, there's a lot of Star Trek on the horizon for fans to enjoy, and Paramount+ isn't wasting any time lining up even more for years to come. The streaming service has formally renewed Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Star Trek: Lower Decks for new seasons.

The flagship series, Star Trek: Discovery, is currently on a midseason hiatus. The fourth season of Discovery will resume on Thursday, February 10. With the renewal in hand, Discovery's fifth season will likely begin filming later this year.

The pilot episode of the new Star Trek: Picard series, which streams on CBS All Access, is available to view for free right now on YouTube , which we first learned about via Slashfilm . The intro credits say the episode is free “for a limited time,” so if you want to see Patrick Stewart reprise his role as the Starfleet captain from The Next Generation without shelling out for All Access, hit the link soon.

The new show “plays surprisingly well for people who have not seen a moment of  Star Trek  as well as longtime fans,” says a review from The Verge , which also suggests Picard hasn’t quite found its footing yet:

The good news is that even three episodes into a ten-episode season,  Picard  is still very much gearing up, and there’s still plenty of room for the show to surprise viewers and choose the more difficult, complicated answers to the questions it poses.

Picard is set 18 years after the film Star Trek: Nemesis , which was the last time we saw the crew from TNG , and opens with Jean-Luc Picard enjoying retirement at his vineyard in France. He gets drawn back into action after he’s approached by a young woman seeking his help. The series will see the return of several members of TNG ’s cast, including Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), Data (Brent Spiner), as well as Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) from Star Trek: Voyager .

What Is the Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Release Date?

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 is set to premiere on Thursday, March 3, 2022, and will run for 10 episodes. After the premiere, the remaining episodes will release weekly on the same day.

Where Is Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Streaming?

Paramount+ is the only possible option to watch Star Trek: Picard in the United States. Luckily, the streaming service is extremely reasonably priced. The base plan has advertisements but is only five dollars a month, and they have several offers as of February 2022 that include 25% off for students.

Just in case you don’t have Paramount+ or do not live in the United States, the new episodes will also be released on Amazon Prime Video with a 24-hour delay across more than 200 countries worldwide. In Canada, the streaming service Crave will be also available for streaming Picard .

Watch the Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Trailer

Paramount+ has released a handful of trailers over the last few months giving us some variety in events that we can observe. These trailers give some insight into the upcoming season of Star Trek: Picard . Although COVID-19 did cause production delays, this allowed for numerous trailers to be revealed over time. The first teaser trailer dropped on April 5, 2021, and has a short runtime of 1:04. The full trailer dropped on January 21, 2022, with a run time of almost 2 minutes. In this trailer, we see Q telling Picard that the route they are taking is the "road not taken" and features most of the characters we are aware of so far.

Who Are the Main Cast Members of Star Trek: Picard?

The famous Sir Patrick Stewart will be returning as the titular character, Jean-Luc Picard. He will be joined by previous season regulars Alison Pill as Dr. Agnes Jurati, Santiago Cabrera as Cristóbal Ríos, Isa Briones as Soji, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker, and Evan Evagora as Elnor. Additionally, Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine will be moving up to a season regular for this next season. Several old faces are also returning in the form of John de Lancie as Q and Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan.

Finally, we have a new face returning as the arch-nemesis of a free Universe. Annie Wersching will be playing the Borg Queen for the first time and is the last of the characters that we are certain will appear in Star Trek: Picard Season 2. That being said, we can always hope for some unexpected familiar faces to show up.

Official Plot Summary of Star Trek: Picard

"Season two of Star Trek: Picard takes the legendary Jean-Luc Picard and his crew on a bold and exciting new journey: into the past. Picard must enlist friends both old and new to confront the perils of 21st century Earth in a desperate race against time to save the galaxy’s future – and face the ultimate trial from one of his greatest foes."

This clearly sets up the plot of the show, with several more possible time shifts in the making. With some of the greatest and most powerful enemies in the Star Trek Universe, this season is sure to be quite impactful. Importantly this season has a lot of possibilities for shifting across time and space. Most experts and analysts who have looked over the trailers have identified at least 3 different timelines. The original timeline is the one where we last saw the cast at the end of Season 1, but there is also a dark timeline, and then there is the 21st century on Earth. With Star Trek returning to our own time and even some cars, it certainly is an interesting time for Star Trek .

Where Can You Watch Other Star Trek Favorites?

The older shows such as Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and others all stream on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Paramount+, and DirecTV. The newer shows such as Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Picard are all exclusively available on Paramount+.

Some of the Star Trek movies are not available on Paramount+. The original series movies and the Next Generation movies are all on Amazon Prime, Hulu, DirecTV, and Epix just like the other shows, but the Kelvin timeline shows are more particular. Star Trek is on IMDb TV for streaming, Star Trek: Into Darkness is on FX Now, and Star Trek: Beyond is on Amazon Prime, Hulu, DirecTV, and Epix. There is a myriad of other ways to access your favorite content, but most of them have to be paid for individually.

Who Are the Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Showrunners?

The showrunners for the new season of Picard include Terry Matalas and Akiva Goldsman . Terry Matalas is famous for his early work on shows such as Voyager and Enterprise, as well as 12 Monkeys and MacGyver. Some fans are pleased with his coming to the project as they were not completely satisfied with the ending of the first season. Additionally, having more experienced hands with Star Trek experience is helpful in promoting more internally consistent lore. The other main showrunner, Akiva Goldsman, is famous for his work on shows such as Batman & Robin , A Beautiful Mind , and Star Trek: Discovery. He was also the primary writer for the first season of Picard , and he has a response to some of the criticisms faced by the first season.

He said that this season would “Figure out the end earlier. If you're going to do a serialized show, you have the whole story before you start shooting. It's more like a movie in that way — you better know the end of your third act before you start filming your first scene.”

We can see evidence of this in the more solidified narrative arcs seen in the trailers, and with a seemly more focused cast on a specific topic.

What is Star Trek: Picard?

star trek picard

In case you haven’t heard about the series, Star Trek: Picard is the seventh live-action Star Trek TV series. Sir Patrick Stewart plays Jean-Luc Picard once again, but this time the show takes place in the year 2399. That’s on the cusp of the 25th century. More importantly, it’s nearly 20 years after Stewart played Picard in the movie Star Trek: Nemesis.

The first episode, Remembrance, shows Picard seemingly enjoying his retirement from Starfleet, tending to his family’s vineyard in France. However, appearances are deceiving. We quickly learn that Picard fought and lost an internal battle with Starfleet 10 years prior to the series. More importantly, we encounter a mysterious girl who comes to Picard for help. The first season will show Picard trying to solve the mystery of this girl, along with his own inner demons.

Along the way, we will see other Star Trek: The Next Generation actors reprise their roles. That will include Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, and even Brent Spiner as Data. We will even see Star Trek: Voyager star Jeri Ryan return as Seven of Nine.

Where and when can I watch the series?

If you like this first episode, you may want to stick around and watch the entire first season. Star Trek: Picard is currently live on CBS All Access in the US. It’s available for $5.99 a month with ads, or for $59.99 for an annual subscription. There’s a higher-price tier that gets rid of the ads for $9.99 a month, or $99.99 for an annual subscription. New episodes drop every Thursday (the second episode is available to stream right now). You can sign up for a seven day free trial at the link below.

In Canada, new episodes are shown on Thursday on Canada’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel, and can be streamed the next day on the Crave service. Internationally, new episodes drop every Friday on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries.

Star Trek Picard: Season 4 Not Happening, But There's Room For A Spin-Off

S tar Trek: Picard is one of those shows where things only really started falling into place in the later seasons. So if you made it to the last episode of season 3, you're probably wondering how things are looking for Star Trek: Picard season 4 and if there are plans to continue the show. Sadly, that's not the case, but it looks like there is some room for spin-offs .

Star Trek: Picard Won't Continue With Season 4, But The Crew Could Return In A Possible Spin-Off

In 2020, Akiva Goldsman, co-creator of Star Trek: Picard, stated that the series was intended to be a three-season show. They initially kept the door open for a fourth season, but only if CBS, Patrick Stewart, and the world wanted it, and that apparently wasn't the case... As we all know by now, the show finally ended with season 3 in April 2023.

However, the story still has tremendous potential to unfold further, suggesting that there's room for more even after the current run. It also seems like several cast members would be open to a Star Trek based future project, be it a movie or another series.

In fact, showrunner Terry Matalas already proposed the spin-off Star Trek: Legacy in which Seven Of Nine would become captain of the newly rechristened USS Enterprise-G and Jean-Luc Picard's son, Ensign Jack Crusher would meet Q. Sadly there are currently no plans from Paramount+ to actually develop Star Trek: Legacy.

Additionally, Patrick Stewart has always been pretty vocal about wanting one more movie to conclude the Story of Picard. As mentioned in several interviews, he would like to make a final movie directed by Jonathan Frakes, however, Paramount+ didn't show any interest in this idea so far as well.

As sad as it is, at the moment it doesn't look like Star Trek Picard will be continued any time soon. And while we hate to admit it, the longer Paramount+ isn't acting on any of the proposals, the less likely any potential spin-off or movie gets since the cast members are all very busy and aren't getting any younger...
