Everything You Need to Know About Visiting Legoland Florida
Sharing is caring!
Florida isn’t all just Mickey Mouse, Disney Princesses and Harry Potter; it’s also home to the largest Legoland in the world. Legoland Florida sits on 150 acres and is an incredible day out for Lego lovers and kids!
In this article, I’m going to debunk everything there is to know about Legoland Florida, from the rides and hotels nearby to insider tips and discount tickets.
So, if you’re heading to Florida and are thinking about making the trip down to Winter Haven and immersing yourself in Lego, keep on reading!
Legoland sits on the old Cypress Gardens site, with the stunning botanical gardens still in situ. It is a purpose built theme park designed for kids aged 12 and under, with rides ranging from gentle to adventurous.
There are no upside down or super speedy rollercoasters like in other theme parks – it is however, a great theme park for those with younger family members.
Dotted around are lots of other activities too, like a rock climbing and tunnel wall, splash pads and numerous photo ops with giant Lego characters. Many of the popular rides have puzzles and boredom buster activities whilst you wait – making the time pass by quicker on busier days.
Attached to the park is Legoland Florida Water Park (an additional ticket is needed, more information below) which is a great way to end the day or cool off in the middle of a hot day. Next door, just a few steps away is the brand new Peppa Pig Theme Park.

When visiting Legoland Florida, it’s best to head online to their official website and input the dates you plan on visiting as the Legoland Florida park hours change weekly. Opening time remains the same at 10 am, but the park’s closing time varies from 5 pm – 7 pm.
Normal park hours are 10 am – 5 pm, but as I mentioned before, this varies.
Legoland Florida Tips
If it’s your first time visiting Legoland Florida, then here are some insider tips for Legoland Florida to help make your days at the park even more enjoyable!
- Download the Legoland app – The app shows you everything from ride wait times and height restrictions to a map that’ll help you navigate the park. There is so much to see
- Avoid wait times by heading to the farthest rides – Many people will start off with the rides closest as at the time that makes the most sense. However, if you head all the way to the back of the park and work your way backwards, you’ll hopefully beat the queues and manage to ride on all the rides you want that day.
- Look out for things to do besides the rides, like rock climbing!
- Bring your own food and drink – It’s no secret that amusement park food and drink is overpriced, but thankfully Legoland lets you bring your own! I recommended packing a cooler with snacks, sandwiches, drinks, and anything else you could possibly need and heading over to Cypress Gardens to sit in the shade and enjoy a quiet and budget-friendly lunch.
- Bring a spare pair of clothes – As there is a splash area in Legoland, it’s best to pack an extra pair of clothes or a swimsuit as trust me, your little ones will want to be a part of all the fun!
- Bring a Lego figure to trade! with the Legoland staff aka Model citizens!
- Be prepared for LOTS of the Lego sets at the Big Shop – they have an amazing selection! Arrange for parcels to be sent to the entrance to pick up on your way out.
- You can hire stroller if needed – single or double.
How to Get to Legoland Florida from Disney, Universal, and International Drive
Legoland, Florida, is roughly a 45-minute drive away from Disney, Universal, and International Drive. As many people begin their holidays in these areas, I thought I should highlight how to get to Winter Haven and Legoland, Florida.
From Orlando to Legoland, Florida:
- Take I-4 WEST to exit 55 (US Hwy 27 South)
- Turn right off U.S. Highway 27 at State Road 540/Cypress Gardens Boulevard.
- The Legoland Park is four miles on the left.
Parking at Legoland Florida
If you’re taking your own car to Legoland, Florida, I highly recommend purchasing a parking voucher before arriving at the park as you can save more money. Ride-shares can be around $45 one way from Orlando to Legoland.
Guests have the choice of Regular or Preferred Parking, with the Preferred Parking being closer to the Legoland gates. Online there is roughly a $17 difference between the two with cars at $25 and Preferred parking $40, but you can find out more about parking prices and purchasing a voucher here .
The parking for Legoland opens 30 minutes prior to the park’s scheduled opening time, so it’s best to get there early for one of the better spots.
Rides and Attractions in Legoland Florida
Legoland Florida is broken down into 14 fun-coloured themed areas, and each area has its own set of rides, shows, and attractions.
These areas are: Duplo Valley, Beginning, Heartlake City, Fun Town, The Lego Movie World, Miniland USA, Lego Ninjago World, Lego Kingdoms, Land of Adventure, Lego City, Imagination Zone, Cypress Gardens, Lego Technic and Legoland Water Park.
I thought it was important to break the best rides at Legoland Florida, including their height requirements, so you’ll know exactly what your little ones can go on.
Duplo Valley
Prepaid schoolhouse.
Duplo Valley was made for the tiny ones of the family, and in the Prepaid Schoolhouse, you’ll find a variety of soft play equipment, a touchscreen area so they can practice numbers and letters, and a stage for entertainment.
Inside the schoolhouse is also a baby care centre with changing rooms, nursing stations, and a microwave. An incredible addition is the “quiet room” where guests on the autism spectrum can take a break from the overstimulation of the park with noise-cancelling headphones, weighted blankets, and Lego building tables.
Splash and Play
Make sure you pack their swimsuits, as once they get a look at the splash and play area, they won’t want to leave. The soft squishy deck and larger than life farm animals are accompanied by water spouts and interactive water elements that are the ideal cool-down area when the sun is at its hottest.
Specifically designed for guests under the age of two, this Tot Spot has small slides, a colourful playhouse and a secured play area so even the babies can enjoy their day out at Legoland.
Your kids can ride around the cornfields and help the farmers plough their crops all while searching for missing farm animals in the Duplo tractors.
Height Requirements:
- Handheld infants are not permitted
- Guests 42” and above can ride unaccompanied
- Guests under 42” need a responsible chaperone over the age of 14
The train is the final instalment to Duplo Valley, and guests can jump in their own carriage to explore the Lego countryside themed scenery, passing through fishing holes, campgrounds, and farms.

The Imagination Zone is an area where kids can build their own Lego models with the thousands upon thousands of Lego bricks available. The space is kitted out with floor-to-ceiling graphics, colourful furnishings, and my personal favourite, air-conditioning.

Kids can put their muscles to the test at the Kid Power Towers. Guests have to work in pairs to hoist themselves up the tower to witness the beautiful view of Lake Eloise. Once they make it to the top, they’ll then “free-fall” down to the bottom (don’t worry, it isn’t a fast drop!)
Height Requirements:

A great starter coaster for the thrill-seekers of the family is the wooden Coastersaurus that curves and dips through a prehistoric jungle. The ride soars past animated life-sized Lego brick dinosaurs, and it’s definitely a must-do when visiting Legoland.
- Minimum height requirement of 42”

Pharaoh’s Revenge
An excellent space to blow off some steam and cool down is the Pharaoh’s Revenge indoor climbing area, where kids can crawl through tunnels, slide down slides, and swing around on ropes.

Even the youngest drivers can be like their older siblings and pass their test on the miniature oval Ford Jr. Driving course.

Help is needed over at the Rescue Academy. Young firefighters and policemen/women can race to put out the fire with water guns stationed out the back of their fire truck or police vehicle.
- Guests below 48” need a chaperone over the age of 14
Toddlers can cool down in the indoor airconditioned aeroplane themed play area, which truly makes you feel like you’re in a airport plane hanger.
Lego Kingdoms
The Dragon is an indoor/outdoor dragon-themed coaster that zooms through the enchanted Legoland Florida Resort castle and out into the sky. Similarly to the Flying School in Lego City, The Dragon doesn’t have any big drops, so it is suitable for young thrill-seeking children who are over 40” tall.
- Minimum height requirement of 40”
- Guests between 40” and 48” need a chaperone over the age of 14
- Guests must be able to transfer to the ride themselves
The Forestman’s Hideout
The Forestman’s Hideout is an outdoor play area made from wood where kids can run, climb, slide, and just be kids.

Small riders will love climbing aboard the wooden train that is powered by Merlin’s magic. As you whirl around the magical wizard, the train will slowly move up and down on the tracks.

- Guests between 36” and 48” need a chaperone over the age of 14
The Great Lego Race
The Great Lego Race is one of the more thrilling rides at Legoland, and kids over 42” can buckle into the car-themed coaster and experience the big drop as well as some twists and turns. No upside down bits though!
- Minimum height requirement of 42” but must ride with a chaperone
- Guests over 48” can ride unaccompanied
- Guests must be able to transfer to the ride with assistance from a member of their party
The Beginning
Rebuild the world.
Kids can let their imagination run free in Planet Legoland, where they can build, unbuild, and then rebuild anything they want!
The Lego Movie World
Battle of bricksburg.
On the Battle of Bricksburg ride, you WILL get wet, so pack a spare change of clothes for this one. You’re challenged to defend Bricksburg by spraying evil alien invaders with water cannons. But watch out; guests on the sidelines will also be helping or spraying you too.

Miniland USA
Mainland USA is Legoland’s most iconic area where guests can stroll around, taking in all the incredible Lego sculptures from the Kennedy Space Center to New York City, Washington D.C. and Las Vegas. Interact with a car race by turning a wheel and seeing if your racer comes first or just look at all the detail of these iconic cities and buildings.
Shows at Legoland Florida
The fun doesn’t stop at just rides. Legoland Florida also has 4D shows and a stunt show for guests to enjoy when visiting the park.
Brickbeard’s Waterport Show
Kids love stunt shows, and they won’t be disappointed with the Brickbeard’s Watersport Show in the Pirate’s Cove. Guests can watch as pirates perform tricks on wakeboards, skis, flyboards, and so much more!
The show comes equipped with high speeds, music, and gravity-defying stunts, making it a great resting and entertainment spot that the whole family will enjoy. There is a clearly marked splash zone in which the characters delights in making sure you get drenched!
4D Theatre Shows
If the sun has reached its highest, I highly recommend heading into one of the 4D theatre shows in Legoland’s largest 4D theatre.
They currently play four shows at different points of the day: Lego City 4D, The Lego Movie 4D, Lego NINJAGO, and Lego Mythica.
Meet and Greets
Look out for various meet and greet characters at select spots around the theme park!
Dining at Legoland Florida
Legoland Florida has lots of quick service restaurants and kiosks. Not all kiosks are open unless the park is really busy. The only sit down service restaurant is Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet. Alternatively, bring a picnic!
Legoland Water Park
Did you know that Legoland Florida also has a water park? It makes an excellent addition to your visit to Legoland or as a separate activity completely on its own!
The water park is jam-packed with water slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river equipped with floating supersized Lego bricks.

Legoland Florida Discount Tickets
Legoland one day tickets start from $84.99 IF you purchase far enough in advance. Otherwise the same ticket is from $127+ direct from Legoland. As with many tourist attractions, purchasing your Legoland tickets online is cheaper than if you were to purchase them at the parks at the gate. There are also many ticket companies that offer discount tickets; one notable mention is the GoOrlando GoCity Card.
The GoOrlando card comes in an All-Inclusive or an Explorer Pass giving you 2, 3 or 5 days of discounted tickets to some of Orlando’s top attractions. Legoland Park Florida is included in the ticket and if you enjoy combining activities, you can end up saving a ton of money.
The three-day pass, for example, is $199. But, during these three days, you can jam-pack as many of the included attractions into your day and only pay the initial $199. It’s a pretty good deal if you’re busy bodies on holiday! For more information you can head over to the GoCity Website and see what other local attractions it includes.
Alternatively, you can even save money on the Legoland Florida Website. General admission at the gate is $109.99, and online, you’ll save $15, only having to pay $94.99 for guests over the age of 2.
Is Legoland Florida Worth It?
Compared to other theme parks this is good value although still an expensive day out. If you purchase a GoCity Card, or something similar, then yes, you can bring the price down. There is no doubt that Lego fans will enjoy the immersive areas, building Lego models, and riding the Lego-inspired rides. Rides have less queues and you can easily get around most rides on an off peak day.
Although Legoland Florida has a few bigger rides, there aren’t many that older children and adults will find enjoyable. It is specifically catered for 12 and under and it does that brilliantly. Other theme parks, such as Disney World and Universal Studios, are more catered for the entire family, so the decision of whether Legoland Florida is worth it ultimately comes down to you and your family preferences.
Can you do Legoland in a day?
Yes, absolutely, if you choose a week day not in the holidays – although you might prefer a two day ticket or combo ticket to also include the waterpark and Peppa Pig Theme Park if you have preschoolers.

Top Rides for Kids at LEGOLAND Florida (plus best options for toddlers and babies!)
Save this post for later
Going on vacation with kids is both exciting and… well… not totally like a vacation. There’s things to plan, itineraries to check on, and some research that needs to happen to make the vacation as smooth as can be!
At LEGOLAND Florida, most all of the rides are geared towards the 2-12 age range (but I do think adults can enjoy several of the options). However, there are ‘better’ rides for kids and some that I think you can skip.
If you are going for the weekend, between the shows, the rides, the other parks… you should be able to get everything in! But if this is a one day trip, make sure to save the lists below to hit the best rides and save the other ones for a different time. (and if it’s a one day trip, be *sure* to view the crowd calendar before hand)
a LEGOLAND vacation does take some research so check out the LEGOLAND Florida Planning Guide.

Based on wait times, the most popular ride at LEGOLAND Florida for younger children is The Boating School, and for older children is CoasterSaurus.
It’s possible to do all of the rides in one day with a skip the line option from LEGOLAND. If you are looking for a more cost effective approach, learn more about a Budget Friendly LEGOLAND Orlando Experience.

You can use the LEGOLAND app to select your favorite rides you want to do, or you can make an old fashion list. There’s a lot of fun tips for making this vacation extra special, and you can read about it in the top hacks for a LEGOLAND vacation
Are the rides worth it for the kids?
Some people online have compared these rides to fair/popup amusement types carnival rides. That is the furthest thing from the truth.
For one, I’ve never been scared that the rides were going to fall apart on me while riding. For two, they are much larger and more themed than carnival rides.
I would say that the new sesame street area in seaworld IS very carnival like. Legoland simply isn’t the case!
Just wanted to clarify as I know some people are curious if LEGOLAND is even worth it … but it’s definitely a theme park with some pretty decent options. If you’d like to see what else there is to do besides rides, check out the Can’t Miss LEGOLAND list.
Best rides for Babies and Toddlers
Headed to LEGOLAND with the littlest ones is still very fun! My youngest has enjoyed LEGOLAND so much, especially as the DUPLO valley is designed for the younger ones. For rides, enjoy the Duplo Train and Duplo Tractor (plus check out the indoor play area and baby changing stations inside the schoolhouse!)
This area does get alittle crowded, so be sure to look over the LEGOLAND crowd calendar.
Things to consider when planning rides:
Not all of the rides are open all of the time. For example, the Grand Carousel often opens first (depending on hours) as they sometimes have the back section of the park open an hour later.
Weather is also a factor when choosing the rides, as outdoor rides don’t operate when it rains or there is a threat of lightning. In those instances, you would want to head to the inside shows (but prepare for longer lines!).
Most people head to shows, shopping or indoor rides in the rain. I prefer to head to the resort to get some food and let the kids play on the inside play areas there (you can visit without being a guest too!)

Legoland Florida: Ride List, History, Facts and More Information
Destinations, family travel.
Legoland Florida is a theme park for kids twelve and younger. Most rides are tailored to younger kids. However, you would be so surprised about some of the rides.
The best age is around 9 years old, which my oldest was at the time of our visit. My 3 year old also had a blast, but wasn’t able to do all the rides. Which was fine by him. My favorite part of all was the art. Lego’s art isn’t something I have ever paid any real attention to, but it’s so unavoidable when visiting the park. And, truthfully, I don’t know why they don’t get the same recognition as some of today’s top artists. Characters are always a welcome joy, no matter the age.
There are several different areas of the park, if you want, you can map out the ones you want to visit the most and hit them first. This way, your kids aren’t too tired by the time they get there. And if they are too tired, they can miss the ones that weren’t top priorities for them.

History of Lego Bricks
This is the fun part. How did it all start?
The Lego Group began in the carpentry workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen , in Billund, Denmark.
In 1916, Christiansen purchased a woodworking shop in Billund but it burned down in 1924, so he constructed a larger one.
In 1932, Ole Kirk’s shop started making wooden toys.
The business wasn’t great but in the mid-1930s, the yo-yo toy fad gave him a brief period of increased activity.
In 1934, Ole Kirk held a contest amongst his staff to name the company. He was considering two names: “Legio” (with the implication of a “Legion of toys”) and “Lego”, a self-made contraction from the Danish phrase leg godt, meaning “play well.” He later discovered that “Lego” can be loosely interpreted as “I put together” or “I assemble” in Latin, so they adopted it.
After World War II, plastics became available in Denmark. This allowed Lego to purchase a plastic injection molding machine in 1947.
The traditional date for the first Lego blocks is 1947. It consisted of a truck that could be taken apart and re-assembled.
In 1949, the Lego Group began producing bricks, manufactured from cellulose acetate in the spirit of traditional wooden blocks that could be stacked upon one another but could be “locked” together. They had several round “studs” on top, and a hollow rectangular bottom. They would stick together, but not so tightly that they could not be pulled apart.
In 1953, the bricks were given a new name: Lego Mursten, or “Lego Bricks.”
The product wasn’t well received by customers. They weren’t versatile and people preferred metal or wooden toys.
Ole Kirk Christiansen died in 1958. A man named Godfred took the lead of the company.
Another warehouse fire struck the Lego Group in 1960, consuming most of the company’s inventory of wooden toys. By that time, sales had improved and there was no need to continue manufacturing wooden toys, so they stopped.
In 1961, Lego wished to expand sales to North America so they allowed Samsonite to begin producing and selling Lego products in the United States and Canada.
Between 1961 and 62 the first lego wheels started being sold.
The famous Lego train system, was first released in 1966.
On June 1968, the first Legoland Park opened.
In 1969, the Duplo system went on sale. These are much larger LEGO bricks, targeted to younger kids, that are still compatible with the regular ones.
In 1971 LEGO tried to reach girls by manufacturing dollhouses and furniture pieces.
The expansion continued on 1972 when ships that actually floated were released into the market.
The famous expert builder sets for older people started being released in 1977.
“Lego Family” sets became their best sellers during the late 70’s.
In 1985 the Lego Group’s educational division produced the Technic Computer Control, which was an educational system whereby Technic robots, trucks, and other motorized models could be controlled with a computer.
In August 1988, 38 children from 17 different countries took part in the first Lego World Cup building contest.
Two Guinness records were set in 1992 using Lego products: A castle made from 400,000 Lego bricks, and measuring 4.45 meters by 5.22 meters, was built on Swedish television, and a Lego railway line 545 meters in length, with three locomotives, was constructed.
During the 90’s they also started selling sets inspired by popular movies.
Fun Facts About Lego
It is one of the oldest plastic toys in the world.
Teachers started LEGOs during the 60’s and haven’t stopped.
In 2000 the British Association of Toy Retailers named LEGO the “Toy of the Century”
In 2002, LEGO sued the Chinese makers of “Coko Bricks” because the resembled LEGO bricks. Coko had to apologize and stop making them.
An average of 80 pieces of LEGO have been produced for every human on the planet.
Not even Bridgestone or Goodyear produce as many rubber wheels as LEGO.
The tallest LEGO tower was 94 feet high.
LEGO also moved into video games. There are currently over 50 of them.
The largest commercial LEGO set is that of the Taj Mahal.
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the inception of the brand LEGO, an animated short film titled ‘ The LEGO Story ‘ was made by Lani Pixels.
What is waiting for you at Legoland in Florida?
You can literally spend the whole day just enjoying the creations here in Legoland. From Pirates to cities, Miniland is truly my favorite thing to see while there . Pirates were a huge theme while we were visiting. And the waterskiing show about pirates was a huge hit for my kids. You can find here a roller coaster too. Don’t be fooled by this roller coaster – it will scare you to death .
I love it when my boys can enjoy some rides together. There are tons of interactive places to visit as well. To build anything from car races to Star Wars to much more. Driver’s school – yeah, my 3 year old was driving all on his own, and loving it. A lego safari, how fun is this.

Legoland Florida Rides List
We’ll start with the baby rides. There are several that are for younger kids only
However the concept was fun
The Helicopter ride – great for kids of all ages
And even better when both my boys can go on together
Lessons – Classes
Driving Lessons – there are two sections for driving lessons – one for kids 3 – 6 and one for 6- 12. The line for my oldest boy was too long so we just enjoyed my baby. It was like driving a real car. There was no track, the kids had to maneuver and negotiate themselves.
And every driving student gets a drivers license
Boat Classes – The boats were really hard to maneuver – it was like riding a real boat
This was great for all ages
Safari Trek – This is for my baby – it was like being at a real safari with the most amazing animals
Of course driving is the most important part
legoland safari trek
Now for the really fun part – The roller coaster
My son went on this coaster over five times. And finally he begged me to join him.
It was death defying – at least that’s how I felt. It rocked my world!
And as you can see, my little adrenaline junkie had a field day

Beetle Bounce - This is one of the best rides in the Legoland theme park for my family. Launch 15 feet in the air and bounce down in a family friendly ride that you'll want to go on over and over and over. Minimum height requirements: 36 inches.
Coast Guard Academy - Lego themed boats are ready for you to cruise through the water ride. Another great way to cool down during a hot day. Minimum Height Requirement: 34 inches. If the rider is 34-48 inches needs to be accompanied by a 14-year-old at minimum.
Coastersaurus - Ride through the jungle full of dinosaurs on this old school wooden roller coaster. This ride is a great time for younger children. While a tad bumpier of a roller coaster than the others since its wooden its still super fun! Minimum rider height requirement is 42 inches.
DUPLO Tractor - Even if your children are not toddlers, stop by the DUPLO Tractor. My older children thought this was fun and cute and rode multiple times. This cute tractor ride goes through a farm, fields, and around animals. The interactive animal sounds are so cute. Minimum height requirement of 42 inches to ride alone. Children under 42 need a responsible rider to hop in the back with them. Older siblings are perfect for helping younger children on this ride.

Complete the driving safely and be rewarded with a driver's license! No minimum height requirement, just age based.
Kid Power Towers - This interactive ride was so much fun to work together to pull yourself to the top of the tower. Be sure to get your muscles ready because the view from the top is AWESOME! Then let go and free fall down to the bottom to do it again on one of my favorite interactive rides. Minimum Rider Height
Lego Ninjago The Ride - This was a family favorite ride together nestled in Lego Ninjago world. Grab your laser gun and get focused to shoot fireballs at villians as you navigate through this 3D ride. Its smooth and fun and interactive for any family member. There are NO height requirements but children under 48 inches need someone who is 48 inches tall and over 14 to ride with them.
12. Lost Kingdom Adventure - This ride is similar to the Lego Ninjago ride feel but welcomes riders as small as 30 inches. Riders use laser guns to shoot at mummies and skeletons and track your points for a friendly challenge on this Legoland Florida ride.

14. Mia's Riding Adventure - Thrill riders and speed lovers need to hop in line for this Legoland ride in the Legoland Friends section. Riders 40 inches - 52 inches need someone 52 inches or above to accompany them on this ride at Legoland theme park.
23. Unikitty's Disco Drop - This is one of my favorite rides at Legoland. Bright colors and fun disco music lift you high to see Lego Movie world from above! Its smooth and easy to ride and a must do.
Fast Track Pass at Legoland Florida? Is It Worth It?
The Fast Track pass is worth it if you are visiting during high traffic visit times to Legoland theme park such as summer or spring break when the lines get pretty long. If you are visiting during an off season time like we have during both visits (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS) then you do not need them! We did not wait in line for ANY RIDE during any trip to Legoland when we went during the week during non peak visits in the winter.
Fast Track costs 69.99 per person per day. It does NOT work at Peppa Pig Theme Park or Legoland Water Park. The Fast Pass only works on 3 rides.
Legoland Florida f eatures more than 50 rides, attractions, and shows. These include a mix of family-friendly rides, roller coasters, water attractions, and interactive experiences, all themed around the iconic LEGO bricks. Please keep in mind that rides undergo maintenance and renovation, and this number may vary at times.
Keep in mind that the Legoland Water Park and Peppa Pig Theme Park have their own rides too! If you are looking for information about tickets, cost, rides and attractions in those portions of the Legoland experience in Florida, you can find my in-depth reviews on those as well.
