One of the best ways to experience this amazing city and its wonderful sights is of course from the water while cruising down the beautiful canals.

We offer Amsterdam boat tours and canal cruises on a modern, small open boat. Guaranteed small groups as we take a max of 12 guests per tour. The boat is quiet due to it’s eco friendly electric engine, which lets us silently glide through the canals. We also have a fridge on board, well stocked with water, soft drinks, beer and wine. Blankets are available to keep you cozy and warm when it turns cooler.

We love our city and are passionate about explaining the growth of Amsterdam and its history.

Captain Attila is a great guide. He is able to share his extensive knowledge of Amsterdam's history, canals, buildings and personalities in such an engaging, interesting and fun way for all the family. My wife, three sons and I had such a great time - so thank you Attila! The boat is also ideal - electric and comfortable, so you can get up close and into the really interesting and narrower canals too. My family and I strongly recommend Attila and Amsterdam Boat Adventures over the bigger, less personal (and potentially cheaper) boats that ply the canals, where bored faces stare out of the windows at you.

This was an excellent boat ride. We did the evening tour. There were only ten of us on the boat and our guide was wonderful. It was really relaxing and definitely the best boat ride we took of all the ones we did in Europe. I HIGHLY recommend this company.

Jamie was a fantastic captain and guide, steering us safely through the canals. We were a party of 4 plus our little dog and were joined by 7 other people,. The boat is quiet and very comfortable, with blankets available if you’re feeling chilly. Drinks are available at a very reasonable price too. The information and stories we heard from Captain Jamie were great, just the right amount of information, not one bit boring and really interesting and the time just flew by! I can highly recommend this boat tour to everyone!!

We had last visited Amsterdam in 2019 and twice greatly enjoyed our small tours through the canals with Jamie. When we returned this June I made it a priority to see if ABA was still in business and was happy to see that they are. The boat is small but comfortable, and the tour is a friendly, informative, funny, and charming view of Amsterdam through its canals. Capt. Jamie and crew are excellent and safe boaters. Beer, wine, and soft drinks are available on board at very affordable prices. The embarkation point is around the corner from the Hermitage Museum (where other, larger boat tours depart). ABA is the perfect size (maximum 12) and vibe for a relaxing but educational slow cruise, day or sunset. Very highly recommend it!

Chill, a small group, a comfortable boat and a great captain. We learned some interesting history, navigated some tight hidden canals you'd never see from the street or in a large tour boat, and had a great time with those aboard. Captain Callum answered our questions and really provided a cool atmosphere. There are drinks on board if you want them. It was a really friendly experience.

We had a wonderful time with captain Bente. She was very knowledgeable and friendly, and our family party of twelve - six adults and six kids aged from 17 to 1 had a wonderful time exploring the canals. You can bring your own snacks and drinks, the boat was very comfortable and clean, and the price reasonable. Highly recommend!

So I got the nickname Jack or Skipper Jack Amsterdam. That last part I got because of my knowledge of the city.

I was born and raised in this beautiful city, Amsterdam.

I have seen a lot of places in the world. But nothing feels so much like home as this city. The friendly and open-minded people of Amsterdam will immediately give you that great feeling of home.

Canal cruise review

We tried in February 2024 a one-hour Lovers canal cruise ourselves. We departed from Prins Hendrikkade 25 which is next to Central Station. The staff aboard was friendly and helpful. We received a free audio tour that was available in 19 languages . Although we know a lot about Amsterdam ourselves we still heard many new fun facts. In the map above you can see some of the picture locations we passed by. This is just a handful of some of the great picture locations . You can keep your camera on the table in the boat because you will have a new great picture moment almost every minute. The temperature inside of the boat is pleasant since there are electrical heaters near your seats. The chairs are not too big, and you will sit at the table with 3 chairs on each side. If your body weight is above average we recommend you to take this boat in low hours so you probably have more space. Or to consider a boat that’s a bit more spacious with the seatings.

Good to know that there is a toilet on board, and it would be highly appreciated if you tip the captain and the crew some change. Overall we liked the trip, and the hour flew by.

Serene, relaxing, invigorating.

Great people, good service, decently priced. A cruise you can’t and shouldn’t miss when in Amsterdam. Beautiful boats with exceptionally smooth ride and good ongoing commentary in most of the major languages. Enjoyed it. Worth it. Highly recommended. Closing note: Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Buy with other attraction ticket, particularly  Heineken   Experience  (just opposite them) to maximise saving money and time

Perfect way to view Amsterdam!

This is a great way to see Amsterdam. Such a different view from the canals and there are so many beautiful boat homes to see along the way. Highly recommend. Also very nice on a rainy day to see the city but stay warm and dry! Headsets to explain the tour as you go were easy to understand!

Lovely cruise

This cruise was well worth the money. We were on boat for an hour and a half. We went in an evening trip which was beautiful with all the lights. We got to see parts of Amsterdam we had missed, but will definitely be returning so we can go and visit these also. Boat was lovely and warm and drinks were reasonably priced. Staff very friendly.

Stephan and Pochani have always had a love for history and the Amsterdam canals. Their love of the water led them to purchase a canal slope 10 years ago and thus, sparked their passion for leading tours of the canals. They made time between work, raising two young children, and volunteering in the city to bring their friends and family on evening dinner cruises, day cruises, and Summer evening swims. It wasn’t long after that they founded Sloepen Amsterdam Canal Tours and began their journey of sharing their love of Amsterdam with tourists and locals!

In 2018, they decided to offer their Boat Amsterdam tours on Airbnb Experiences and soon after became the #3 Dutch experience in the Netherlands. Five-star reviews and word of mouth soon spread, and Sloepen became busier than ever. This led to the ambitious purchase of another small boat company in 2019, to increase their fleet size and offer more tours. Included in this purchase was a gorgeous 1930s Saloon boat, the Britannia II. Sloepen was relaunched as Amsterdam Boat Trips and the rest is history!
