World Golf Tour: Three ways to approach this mobile golf simulation

World Golf Tour: Three ways to approach this mobile golf simulation

What suits your golf game best?

World Golf Tour (WGT) is one of the more realistic golf games out there on any platform. That's not a promotion either, the way they use satellite images of real-world courses and implement them into the game is always remarkable. And this has been a signature aspect of the game for a long time now.

The game has been out since 2008 and has remained a staple among golf games on PC and mobile. Some of the courses the game features include legendary real-world courses like the Old Course at St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, and Merion.

Gameplay is realistic in WGT while also featuring fun little quirks (such golf ball effects after you hit shots). It's a game that is really suited for folks who are really into the sport of golf. That said, it offers enough simplicity to be fun for the non-golf gamer too. Here are a few ways you can approach the game style-wise.

The Yardage/Wind Reader

world golf tour tutorials

It's usually a pretty good idea to read yardages in WGT before your shots, especially on approach shots. That said, it's not totally necessary. Sometimes, you can just view your target briefly and swing away. But there are many players (especially those who play on the European eTour ) who use yardages to their competitive advantage.

Many times, players will club down or up based on the combination of the distance they have to work with, and where the wind is blowing. The wind aspect is about as important as the yardage because you'd need to adjust yourself accordingly to where the wind is heading.

Yardage can also be highly critical off the tee. Many courses may present you with a unique fairway design that could have you thinking about how you want to approach your power. Do you want to play it safe and go with something like a 3-wood or long iron? Or do you pull out the big, thick sword known as your driver and crush down the fairway and hope that you're not in the rough or bunker?

The choice is yours, but one style to play in the game is the yardage/wind reader. In short, you're being your own caddy out there.

The Putting Machine

OK, so you're into being"good" at all areas of your virtual golf game, right? But perhaps you're the type of player who wants to become a "master" at putting. Putting may arguably be the most important aspect of the sport of golf. It's the scoring skill, the one that puts the ball in the hole 90% of the time.

Putting in WGT requires you to read the greens like in real golf (there's no putt preview feature). the best thing you can do is read the beads, and see which direction they're going and how fast or slow. This will give you an excellent idea of where to set yourself up.

And this is what the players who put emphasis on putting do. They read the greens masterfully and drill those putts. A good putt can bail you out if you were having trouble on a hole and can also lead you to a great score of course. Are you a lord of the flat stick?

The Escape Master

This is not an area that is focused on as you never want to find yourself in these positions in the first place, but you do have players in WGT who are great at escaping trouble. I'm talking the icky stuff: bunkers, the rough, etc. It requires an extra bit of skill to hit some great shots here.

You'll need to definitely tweak around with which club you want to use, especially coming out of the fairway rough (also known as the second cut). In bunkers, you'll more than likely use a wedge, probably a sand wedge. From there in the sand, you can splash the ball out with a good flop shot if you're greenside.

From the rough or fairway bunker, you'll just need to use a long iron (5, 4, 3, or 2 iron) and see how close you can get to the green, depending on the hole's layout. So although you avoid these gross situations, you'll have the ability to make something spectacular happen if you want to practice it.

7 tips for attending your first pro golf tournament

I f you like the idea of going to live sporting events but hate the pace, noise and crush of the crowd, let me suggest buying passes to a golf tournament. As someone who's been to virtually every type of game or competition you can imagine—from NBA games to WrestleMania to NASCAR races to world-class tennis tournaments — I can tell you the experience of going to a pro golf event is something completely different. It's peaceful in a way that no other major sporting event is and allows you to have almost complete control over your experience.

If you've thought about buying tickets to a PGA Tour or LPGA Tour event but aren't quite sure what to expect, read on for a beginner's guide to attending a golf tournament, with tips to make the whole thing feel less intimidating.

1. Try an LPGA Tour event first

Like most women's sports organizations, the LPGA Tour has seen its profile grow in recent years. The women's tour now has events across the country and attending these makes a great entry points for newcomers to live golf. Prices are often far cheaper than the PGA Tour and the crowds are almost always a bit smaller (and less annoying), making it far easier to get up close to the players and have a good view of the action. The level of play on the LPGA Tour is outstanding—I promise you will still see shots you could never dream of pulling off. So far, it remains untouched by the competitive fracturing seen in men's golf  recently, meaning you'll see all the world's best players at nearly every event.

2. Buy the cheapest passes that let you roam

When you look up tickets to a golf tournament, you'll likely see a bunch of options. Most events have a few designated seating areas around high-profile holes or even ones that are covered and air-conditioned with free food and drinks being served while you watch the action below. Personally, I recommend skipping these pricier options and buying the cheapest passes you can find that allow you to freely roam the course.

What makes going to a golf tournament different from almost all other sporting events is the autonomy you have with such a pass. If you want to follow a single golfer you like from hole to hole across their entire round, you can do it. If you want to post up at one particularly challenging green and watch the entire field try to hit it all day, go for it. If you simply want to walk around freely, watch shots when you can and otherwise admire the stunning landscaping and manicure work done by an elite grounds crew — which I fully recommend doing — make it happen.

General admission passes to pro golf tournaments often give you the only chance you'll ever have to walk around an elite (often private) golf course at your leisure.

3. Don't be picky about the day

Golf tournaments almost always happen over the course of five consecutive days. Wednesday, typically, is a day of practice rounds. Then each golfer plays four competitive rounds, one each day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Barring a weather suspension, Sunday will always be the final round. The winner is the player with the lowest total score when each of their four rounds are added together.

This means Sundays are often the most expensive days to attend because they carry the most pressure for the players, but there are benefits to going earlier in the week. For instance, if you go on Thursday or Friday, you'll get to see the most golfers in action. This is because the field of competitors is cut down after the first two rounds, leaving only those that meet a certain threshold eligible to play on Saturday and Sunday. So, if you look over the field of players and have a certain golfer you want to watch, Thursday and Friday are the only days you're  guaranteed to see them in action. (Even Tiger Woods misses the cut sometimes, disappointing a lot of Saturday/Sunday ticketholders.)

If you couldn't care less about the actual competitive aspect, grab passes for Wednesdays practice rounds. This is when you'll see the course in its best shape and the players at their most relaxed. Plus, the crowds are often much smaller on practice days, making it far easier to watch the high-profile holes and walk around in peace.

4. Don't sweat the time

While most sporting events require you to show up a specific time, fight through a crowd to find your seat and watch until the final buzzer, golf tournaments don't run that way. Most people look at the scheduled tee times that are posted on the event's website — and often handed to you in a printout when you arrive at the course — and base their arrival time on when a certain golfer is teeing off for the day, but I've had great luck with just showing up whenever.

Opening times vary depending on the course and event but you can typically show up as early as 7 a.m. and the day's first set of players will tee off at 8 a.m., with new groups following every 10-15 minutes. Play will continue until the final group wraps up, which can be as late as 6-7 p.m., depending on the pace of play. That gives you a roughly 10-hour window to show up and enjoy the competition at your leisure. This freedom what really makes going to a golf tournament fun, especially for the casual admirer.

5. Come prepared

You don't need to know the difference between a birdie and an eagle to enjoy a golf tournament, but you do need to come to the course prepared for a day of walking in the sun. Wear your most comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen, a hat, an umbrella for shade and pack some snacks to keep your energy up. Golf courses are massive places and walking across one during a tournament means some serious steps and when you throw in the fact that most tournaments happen during hot, sunny weather, it can be easy to get worn out in a hurry.

You'll find concessions dotted along the course and often plenty of places to sit near the clubhouse if you need a break.

6. Don't bring little kids

I'm offering this advice from personal experience. When my son was 4 years old, he loved watching golf on TV with me and playing with me at the driving range and our local pitch-and-putt course. So, I decided to take him with me to the LPGA Queen City Championship in Cincinnati, a smaller tournament with affordable passes. He lasted all of about 90 minutes before lying in the grass and forcing me to carry him around on an 80-degree day. Thankfully, my wife was nearby and came to get him while I hung out for a few more hours and had a much better time.

You know your kids better than anyone but I think asking any kid younger than possibly 10 to enjoy a full day at a golf tournament is testing the limits of human possibility. I've seen plenty of teenagers and older kids engaged and having a great time at these events, so maybe wait a few years to take them along.

7. Dress the part

While most sporting events invite you to show up in a jersey and jeans, or even full-body paint, golf tournaments require a bit more dressing up. The fashion I've usually seen a golf tournaments could be described as sporty and casual: lots of polo shirts, skorts and athletic dresses paired with Hokas . I've also seen plenty of people wearing a T-shirt and a nice pair of shorts, which is totally fine. I'm far from the sharpest dresser and haven't felt out of place at a golf tournament (but have absolutely felt that way at tennis tournaments, which invite a whole other level of fashion and display of wealth from the spectators).

Expert Picks: Valspar Championship

How it works: Each week, our experts from PGATOUR.COM will make their selections in PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf. Each lineup consists of four starters and two bench players that can be rotated after each round. Adding to the challenge is that every golfer can be used only three times per each of four Segments.

Aside from the experts below, Golfbet Insider Rob Bolton breaks down the field at the Valspar Championship in this week's edition of Power Rankings .

Betting picks

WILL GRAY (Lead, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Keegan Bradley (+4000) – Going back to the well with Bradley, one of my picks at Bay Hill who always starts quickly at Innisbrook Resort. Should’ve won here in 2021.
  • Longshot: Kevin Yu (+10000) – Consistently strong off the tee this year, which you need at Innisbrook. When the other parts of the game have clicked, it’s netted him top-10 results.
  • Top 10: Doug Ghim (+400) – He’s still in search of his first TOUR win but has cobbled together five straight top-20 finishes, including a T16 result last week at TPC Sawgrass.
  • Head-to-Head (H2H): Adam Hadwin (-110) over Beau Hossler – The former Valspar champ should rebound from last week’s club toss/missed cut. This is more of a fade of Hossler, who has missed the cut in four of five trips to Innisbrook.

BEN EVERILL (Senior writer, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Sam Burns (+1100) – If you only get one winner option Burns is the man to take at Innisbrook until he proves otherwise. Two wins and a T6 last three years here and showed glimpses of great at TPC Sawgrass.
  • Top 10: Nick Taylor (+300) – I went close to plumping for Taylor as my outright but let’s just pick up some quick units here instead. T10 last year and one of the best putters on TOUR this season so far.
  • Longshot: Adam Schenk (+6600) – Runner-up here last time out he certainly knows how to get around this joint. Finally showed some recent form with a top-20 last week at TPC Sawgrass.
  • H2H: Doug Ghim (-140) over Sepp Straka – I was hoping Ghim would fit into the longshot bracket but at +4000 he’s under that mark (but still worth an outright look). No worse than T16 his last five starts… he’s potentially building to something big.

CHRIS BREECE (Senior Content Manager, Golfbet)

  • Winner: Sam Burns (+1100) – I’m not going to overthink this. Way too good here every here. He’s been trending upwards. A few bad holes derailed him from being in contention at THE PLAYERS.
  • Top 10: Nick Taylor (+300) – He’s been in the mix almost every week in 2024, including Thursday/Friday at TPC Sawgrass. He was T10 here last here.
  • Longshot: Matt NeSmith (+10000) – His two finishes here have been T3/T21. Had two good rounds at TPC Sawgrass last week for a T26.
  • H2H: Justin Thomas (-125) over Brian Harman – I’m banking on the mental exhaustion from Harman after a close call last week.

MATT DELVECCHIO (Social Content Manager, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Nick Taylor (+3500) – There’s so much to like about Taylor and his game so far this year. Was in the mix for a bit at THE PLAYERS. Nothing worse than a T39 finish since his playoff win at the WM Phoenix Open. Combo that with the fact that he likes Innisbrook (T10 last year), it seems to me all signs pointing in the right direction for Taylor.
  • Top 10: Brian Harman (+200) – He’s been putting up some really low numbers lately and I see no reason to think that will stop this week. T5 here in 2022. I considered Harman for outright as he looks like he’s ready to win but I’ll settle for a safer pick with a top-10 finish.
  • Longshot: Brendon Todd (+6600) – Todd has been very hit or miss this season. He has the game that I think will allow him to maneuver around Innisbrook and get him within striking distance for a run at the win come Sunday.
  • H2H: Nick Taylor (-120) over Eric Cole – Going back to the well with the double down on one player. Taylor aside, Eric Cole’s game has been in a bad place as of late, with two missed cuts in his last four events. With that being said he’s also a boom or bust candiate (T21 at Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, T10 at The Genesis Invitational). I’ll bet on the bust this week.

DP World tour

Twenty-eight-year-old Swede Jesper Svensson won his maiden DP World Tour title in Singapore by matching the course record and prevailing in a three-hole-playoff.

He shot a 9-under 63 at Laguna National Golf Resort Club to climb the leaderboard to 17-under, where Kiradech Aphibarnrat also finished after 72 holes.

Svensson birdied the 17th and 18th holes to grab the clubhouse lead, while Aphibarnrat made an eagle later to tie.

Then, in the playoff, both birdied the first playoff hole—the par-5 18th—and then exchanged a pair of pars the second time around.

The third time was the charm for Svensson, a DP World Tour rookie. Aphibarnrat air-mailed his third shot into the 18th and thus settled for bogey while the Swede two-putted for par and the victory.

“It’s been a long journey,” Svensson said after the win per the DP World Tour.

Jesper Svensson, DP World Tour, Porsche Singapore Classic

“To win on my first season out here, I couldn’t have dreamt of it. It’s always been a dream to be a winner on the DP World Tour and to achieve it feels amazing.”

The Swede turned professional in the summer of 2019 and joined the Nordic Golf League, two levels below the DP World Tour in European professional golf. After winning the season finale in 2020, he was promoted to the Challenge Tour, the DP World Tour’s equivalent of the Korn Ferry Tour .

He continued to rise up the rankings, finishing 36th at the end of the 2021 Challenge Tour season, which afforded him some playing opportunities on the DP World Tour the following year.

But his first win on the Challenge Tour did not come until May 2023, when he finished one stroke ahead of Branden Stone at the B-NL Challenge Trophy in Holland.

That, coupled with two runner-up finishes late in the year, helped Svensson finish 5th in the Challenge Tour rankings, elevating him to the DP World Tour for 2024. He has since finished runner-up twice, at the Investec South African Open in December and, most recently, at the Bahrain Championship.

“Combined with Challenge Tour last year and the beginning of this season, I’ve had five second-place spots in the last year,” Svensson added.

Jesper Svensson, DP World Tour, Porsche Singapore Classic

“I really wanted to come out on top here.”

Svensson began his final round five shots off the lead, but quickly made up ground with birdies at the 1st and 2nd. He followed those up with an eagle at the par-5 3rd. Two more birdies at the 6th and 8th holes ensued, the latter being a chip-in.

He then dropped two shots at the 9th and 10th holes, bringing him back to 11-under for the championship.

Yet, Svensson bounced back with birdies on the 12th and 13th, which gave him a one-shot lead.

A shot worthy of any champion ⭐️ #PorscheSingaporeClassic pic.twitter.com/apNudYeFkl — DP World Tour (@DPWorldTour) March 24, 2024

Then, he hit the shot of the day at the par-5 14th, reaching the green in two as his ball settled eight feet away from the pin. He then poured it in for eagle, and suddenly, Svensson held a three-shot lead.

“On 14, we were thinking about laying up,” Svensson said.

“We both said, ‘No, we’re not finishing second again,’ and it was the best shot of the week.”

The move paid off, as Svensson bogeyed the 15th but finished birdie-birdie to shoot 63. But he needed extra holes to get that first victory, and luckily for him, he prevailed.

Other players in contention included Matthieu Pavon , who finished fifth, and Paul Casey of LIV Golf , who finished solo sixth. Shane Lowry also played, tying for 29th.

A Moscow Free Walking Tour of the Iconic Red Square

Updated March 10th, 2020

This post might contain affiliate links. That means I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, if you buy through my site. I appreciate your support of my site.

No visit to Moscow, Russia is complete unless you take a walk around the famous Red Square and see the iconic sights of the city. One of the best ways to see all the famous landmarks in Moscow and learn a little something about them too is on a free Moscow walking tour through the Red Square.

Continue reading for a sneak peek at what you will see on your free tour in Moscow and for tips on both the tour and visiting the sights. Make sure to save some time during your trip to go inside of the magnificent buildings because you will not be going in the buildings during the tour.

The State Historical Museum

Moscow State Historical Museum

The Moscow free walking tour begins at the Marshal Zhukov monument in front of the State Historical Museum . You can’t miss this massive red building. The museum’s interior is almost as spectacular as the artifacts you can see within. Read my post dedicated to the museum here to find out more on what you can see and tips for visiting. Admission is free with the Moscow City Pass .

The Kremlin

The Moscow Kremlin

Behind the walls of the Kremlin lie the working offices of Russian’s government and president. When visiting the Kremlin you can see the Armory Chamber, Cathedral Square, the Patriach’s Palace and many more cathedrals. You definitely want to buy tickets ahead of time so you avoid the long-lines. You can get free admission with the Moscow City Pass . It’s also worth it to take a guided tour if you don’t speak Russian so you have more of an understanding of what you are seeing.

St. Basil’s Cathedral

Moscow's St. Basil's Cathedral

If asked to conquer up an image of Moscow, St. Basil’s Cathedral might just be the most likely image you picture. The cathedral has a museum that you can visit at a later time. You can buy tickets at the ticket kiosk outside the cathedral or receive free admission with the Moscow City Pass .

Moskva River

Moskva River

Next up on the tour is the Moskva River which runs through the center of Moscow. A cruise on the Moskva River is a great way to see the city from a different perspective.

GUM Shopping Mall

Who would think a mall would be one of Moscow’s most well-known attractions? GUM shopping mall across from the Kremlin makes up one of the four sides of the Red Square. The stores might be a bit too pricey for shopping, but the gorgeous interior is worth a visit. If that doesn’t convince you, the mall has some of the best ice cream! GUM is the only building you go inside during the free walking tour. There are pay bathrooms you can use while you have a few minutes of free time.

Kazan Cathedral

Moscow Kazan Cathedral

Located on the northeast corner of the Red Square, the Kazan Cathedral is another impressive dome-shaped building in Moscow that is also an active place of worship. Entering the cathedral is allowed, but remember to be respectful if people are worshipping.

Bolshoi Theater

Moscow Bolshoi Theater

Contrary to the previous buildings, the Bolshoi Theater isn’t along one of the four sides of the Red Square. Located a few minutes away, the theater is one of the best theaters in the world. Make sure to come back for a guided tour of the inside or make reservations far ahead of time to attend a ballet or opera.

Alexander Gardens

Moscow Alexander Gardens

The tour ends near the Alexander Gardens , a free public park located along the western Kremlin walls. The garden’s green lawns, sculptures and water fountains offer a nice place to take a stroll or relax a bit after some busy sightseeing.

Moscow Red Square

You can visit all these sites on your own, but the best part of doing the Moscow free tour is that you learn more information and have the potential to meet new people!

During my tour I started to talk to a woman from Malaysia and she invited me to join her and her friends for a Russian meal afterwards. It’s these little impromptu meetings and opportunities that I love most about traveling and add more to the sightseeing experience. While I was a little hesitant about going to the tour myself I told myself it would be a great opportunity to possibly meet new people. I love when things work out like that!

If you have already seen the iconic sights of the Red Square and are looking for other things to do in Moscow check out my What to Do in Moscow post that gives more off-the beaten track things to do in Moscow!

Moscow Free Walking Tour Visiting Information

Moscow Free Walking Tours

How to Get There

The Moscow Free Walking Tour begins at the Marshal Zhukov monument in front of the State Historical Museum (a large red building). The website shows a map with the exact meeting point.

To get to the red square area you can take the blue 3 metro line to the Ploshchad Revolyutsii stop, or the green 2 line to the Teatralnaya station or the red 1 line to the Okhotny Ryad station. For more on how to use the metro read my Moscow Metro Guide .

Tours every day at 10:30am – 1pm in English

If you need a toilet before the start of the tour the Okhotny Ryad and GUM shopping malls are both close to the start of the tour. You will need to pay to use the toilets. There is a quick break mid-way through the tour at the GUM shopping mall where you can use the toilet if needed.

During the mid-way break in the tour you can buy some ice cream at the GUM shopping mall. There aren’t many other options or time for anything else. After the tour there are a lot of restaurants in the area. There are a couple of Varenichnaya №1 locations nearby if you would like some authentic Russian food. Their speciality is Russian dumplings. Another classic choice nearby is Grand Cafe Dr. Jhivago. While you can try traditional Russian foods like borscht and Olivier Salad, you may need a reservation. GUM has several restaurants, including a couple of buffets upstairs.

Recommendations

While I would start off your visit to Moscow with a tour of the Red Square, make sure to come back to each place to tour the inside. If you are visiting several sights consider buying the Moscow City Pass  to save money on admissions.

Other Tour Options

Another company  Moscow Free Tour  does a similar free walking tour in the Red Square. Check the site for the details on the starting point and times. If you prefer a private paid tour with a hotel pick-up and a visit to St. Basil’s Cathedral included check out this tour . For a private paid tour with a hotel pick-up and a visit to the Kremlin included you may want to take this tour or this one . Even if you don’t typically take tours, I would recommend taking tours as much as possible in Moscow. Many people do not speak English and most information is not in English either.

Where to Stay in Moscow

Find somewhere to stay in Moscow near the Red Square so you are convenient to all the sights!

I’m a huge fan of taking free walking tours whenever my husband and I travel. We learn more about the history from the local’s perspective. Your walking tour in Moscow looks fun. The St. Basil’s Cathedral is beautiful and would love to see it. Thanks for sharing the must-see places in Moscow!

I’m a big fan of free walking tours too! I completely agree that you get a good perspective and introduction to the history of the city.

I would love to take the walking tour to get a good coverage of the area! The tip about paying for the bathrooms is great. That’s something I didn’t realize when I went to Europe for the first time from the US.

I always find it annoying paying for bathrooms in Europe!

I visited Moscow in June this year for the World Cup and I loved it. St. Basil’s Cathedral was the highlight for me, it’s such an impressive piece of architecture. I would’ve liked to visit more of Russia but maybe next time!

I really enjoyed Moscow during the World Cup too. The city was much livelier than usual!

' src=

I have been to St. Petersburg but never to Moscow. I think that these kind of tours are very useful to gather many information but I second your suggestion to visit the palaces inside as they have stunning interior decor and art treasures.

Yes, I think both going on tours and getting an overview and touring the inside of places are good to do.

St. Basil’s cathedral is definitely a beautiful place to visit. I would also love to stroll by the Alexander gardens and maybe spend some time in the shopping mall call mom maybe visit the theater, also I would love to visit Kremlin and the State Historical Museum. That’s a great list you have managed to provide here.

' src=

Never been to Russia, but the country’s history and culture has always fascinated me. Great list of things to do in Moscow’s Red Square. Kremlin is definitely on top of my list!

Russia does have a fascinating history and culture!

The architecture here always looks so beautiful. I would love to go to Russia. Some helpful tips here that would really help me navigate a future trip. I love the Russian ballet so a trip to the theater would be a must for me.

Masters 2024 predictions, odds, picks, props: Golf insider picks Sam Burns at Augusta National

Golf insider patrick mcdonald has revealed his 2024 masters picks, pga best bets and props for augusta national.

rory-mcilroy-usatsi-pga-tour.jpg

Rory McIlroy will try to become the sixth golfer in history to win the career grand slam when the 2024 Masters begins on Thursday, April 11. McIlroy missed the cut last season after shooting a 5-over 77 in the second round, his highest single-round score since the third round of the 2016 Masters. Jon Rahm won the green jacket when he shot 3-under in the final round, getting past Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson. Rahm will try to become the first back-to-back winner at Augusta National since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002 when the Masters 2024 tees off.

McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler are the 17-2 co-favorites in the 2024 Masters odds, while Rahm is 19-2 on the PGA odds board. Should you back any of the favorites with your 2024 Masters predictions? Before locking in any 2024 Masters picks or golf predictions, you need to see what proven golf betting expert Patrick McDonald has to say , considering his recent track record.

McDonald joined CBS Sports as a golf writer in 2022 after stops at NBC Sports and RyderCup.com. Covering the sport from a broader perspective, McDonald still likes to dip his toes into the betting pools on a weekly basis between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and more. Featured weekly on the Early Wedge, he has given out numerous winners already in 2024, including Jake Knapp (50-1) at the Mexico Open.

Now, McDonald has focused his attention on the 2024 Masters field and has locked in his best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. You can see only see them at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Masters expert picks

One stunning prediction from McDonald: He is high on Sam Burns, even though he is a 55-1 longshot. Burns has established himself as one of the top players on the PGA Tour since he joined in 2019 following a successful collegiate career at LSU. He won three times during the 2021-22 season, taking home titles at the Valspar Championship, Sanderson Farms Championship and Charles Schwab Challenge.

Burns made his Ryder Cup debut in 2023 after representing America in the 2022 Presidents Cup, so he has continued to progress in his career. The next step for Burns will be winning a major championship, as he has not finished better than 20th in a major so far in his career. However, he cracked the top 30 at the Masters last year, and McDonald expects him to make a run at a green jacket at Augusta National.

"Burns has made significant strides off the tee blending his distance with new-found accuracy," McDonald told SportsLine. "Also reliable on the greens, his chances to win the Masters will stem from whether his iron play is good enough across 72 holes."  See who else to back here .

How to make 2024 Masters picks, bets

McDonald is also jumping on an underdog who's had plenty of success at Augusta National but is still listed at nearly 100-1 to win it all.  You can only see his 2024 Masters picks at SportsLine .

So, which players should you target or avoid for the 2024 Masters, and which proven golfer in the Masters 2024 field could bring a monster payday of almost 100-1? Check out the odds below then visit SportsLine to see Patrick McDonald's top picks for the Masters 2024, all from the expert who has been red-hot on his PGA Tour picks this season  and find out.

Davis Love III enthused about golf's young stars

The Debrief: 2024 Porsche Singapore Classic

Jesper Svensson claimed his maiden win as Kiradech Aphibarnrat continues to take the positives, and the Green Room provides plenty of insight into the emotions of a professional golfer. Here's what you need to know from the Porsche Singapore Classic.

Svensson claims maiden victory

Jesper Svensson  won his first DP World Tour title with a play-off victory over Kiradech Aphibarnrat at the  Porsche Singapore Classic .

The Swede matched the course record with a closing 63 at Laguna National Golf Resort Club to get to 17 under but extra holes were required as Aphibarnrat eagled the last in a 64.

Both men made a birdie on the first trip up the last and then exchanged a pair of pars before Aphibarnrat went over the back and made a bogey, leaving Svensson two putts for a par and victory on their third trip back to 18.

Svensson may have turned professional nearly five years ago, winning on the Nordic Golf League in 2020, but his big breakthrough came last year with his victory at the B-NL Challenge Trophy on the European Challenge Tour. Having earned his Tour card through his fifth place finish on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, Svensson is now the latest first-time winner on just his 14th start on the DP World Tour.

"It's been a lot of good golf so it was nice to finally come out on top," he said. "It's very hard to win so it's really nice.

"It's been a long journey. To win on my first season out here, I couldn't have dreamt of it. It's always been a dream to be a winner on the DP World Tour and to achieve it feels amazing.

First event of the Asian Swing

After an exciting first event of the Asian Swing, Jesper Svensson tops the rankings and moved into third place in the 2024 Race to Dubai.

With plenty on offer during this swing, including automatic qualification into the 'Back 9' events and a $200,000 bonus, there is a lot to play for over the next four events. So what's up next?

After Singapore, the DP World Tour will head to New Delhi for the Hero Indian Open. A one-week break then follows, before the world’s best golfers descend on Augusta National Golf Club for the first Major of the year.

The Tour then visits South Korea and Japan for the second editions of the Korea Championship and ISPS HANDA – CHAMPIONSHIP respectively, before a Swing Champion is crowned after the Volvo China Open, which is returning to the schedule for the first time since 2019. The second Major of the year, the subsequent U.S. PGA Championship, will immediately follow, but while points accrued in the Major Championships will count on the Race to Dubai Rankings, they will not count in the Swing Rankings.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat proud as he continues good run of form

Having held a share of the leaderboard after the opening round, Kiradech Aphibarnrat produced a second eight-under 64 on Sunday to set the target on the final day, capped with an eagle at the last.

Speaking of that incredible finish, Aphibarnrat explained that he had almost had the exact same shot a year ago at the Singha Open.

"Back in the beginning of last year I had the same shot in the local event and I hit it absolutely perfect, landed like 230 yards,£ he said.

"That shot kind of jump in my head, I hit that shot into like two feet and I talked to my caddie and said we are going to hit the same shot. Same club, same pin situation the same. I did absolutely perfect to leave myself 15- 20 feet to hole eagle to tie the lead."

The four-time DP World Tour has been openly candid about his struggles over the past few years, particularly surrounding his time in America, but has recently regained some confidence thanks to an impressive few weeks - finishing in a tie for 13th, 23rd and 14th in a mix of DP World Tour and Asian Tour events ahead of his runner-up in Singapore.

The 34-year-old, who earned his Tour card for a second consecutive year at DP World Tour Qualifying School in November, was incredibly positive about his feelings after the play-off, and admitted these past few weeks have reignited feelings of excitement and nerves in his game.

"I know I didn't make the job done, but I just try everything I could out there. What a fantastic finish. But Jesper is playing great golf, his drives the last three holes of (the) play-offs, it's insane.

"I'm just enjoying every second here. I'm very proud of the way I'm playing. I hang myself in there, and like I'm saying I do everything I could to put me in a good position. The result didn't go my way but I do everything I can do.

"It feels good. I never have this excited nerves for the last three or four years. It's so good to get back to where I was, and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year. I'm going to try harder and harder until I get the win again."

Margot Robbie portrayed as Barbie lying on a pink surface surrounded by different shoes

This Barbie loves to score a great deal.

If you couldn’t get enough of Margot Robbie’s Barbie-inspired looks — from Pink and Fabulous Barbie to her final outing as Superstar Barbie — as she promoted the film last year, this new book is for you. “Barbie: The World Tour” has been on shelves for less than a week, but thanks to the Amazon Big Spring Sale , the price has basically dropped every day since; it currently sits at a whopping 44% off.

Amazon's Big Spring Sale is HERE!

“Barbie: The World Tour” is a book of fashion photography written by Robbie herself with stylist Andrew Mukamal; the duo worked with photographer Craig McDean to shoot all of the looks — ones we saw, like Schiaparelli’s Solo in the Spotlight Barbie from the Los Angeles premiere, and ones not yet seen due to the SAG strike .

The book is said to show all of the outfits exactly as they were envisioned and curated, down to accessories like the SteamLine luggage she paired with a casual Barbie look at the airport .

A Solo in the Spotlight Barbie doll dressed in a black gown, resembling Margot Robbie

In total, “Barbie: The World Tour” features 160 pages of colorful photography, text by Robbie and Mukamal, handwritten contributions from some of the designers themselves, a foreword by former British Vogue editor-in-cheif Edward Enninful, and an afterword by the director of “Barbie,” Greta Gerwig.

If you’re looking for a coffee table book to bring a pop of bright Barbieland color to your living room, we recommend shopping this great deal now — the Big Spring Sale ends tomorrow, March 25.

If, once you’re done reading, you’re in the mood to rewatch “Barbie,” you can stream last year’s billion-dollar hit on Max or Prime Video .
