True Temper Elevate Shaft Review

More in reviews:.

Ocean Point Golf Course

50 Words or Less

The True Temper Elevate shaft seeks to counteract the strong lofts and low spin properties of today’s iron heads.

Introduction

As OEMs continue to push the limits of sanity with iron lofts, golfers are left to wonder, “Can I hold a green with a 7I anymore?”

Enter the True Temper Elevate, an iron shaft designed to boost launch and spin to optimal level for distance and stopping power.

One of the key technologies in the Elevate Tour shafts is VSS – Vibration Suppression System .  True Temper claims that this dampens 56%   of the vibration of the shot (71% in Elevate 95) without suppressing feedback.  Call it placebo effect if you will, but I did feel like the Elevate had a cleaner impact sensation than other shafts.

During the swing, the Elevate Tour felt very stable but smoother than Dynamic Gold .  The Elevate Tour actually felt similar to my gamer, the KBS C-Taper Lite .  In comparing the two, I found the Elevate Tour to be slightly smoother and more active.

Performance

The similarities to the C-Taper Lite continued when I got on the launch monitor.  The Elevate Tour produced numbers that were nearly identical to the C-Taper Lite, which made it a perfect fit for me.  My shots launched on a consistent trajectory with just enough spin to hold a green.

Don’t be scared off by the name .  In my testing, I did not hit a single shot that ballooned or had any kind of unexpected result.  Players with the skill will be able to shape shots both ways and control trajectory.  This is not a soft, high launching shaft, merely one that is not as stout as Dynamic Gold.

There are two versions of the Elevate shaft .  The Elevate Tour, which I tested, is heavier and comes in three flexes.  The X-Flex weighs 122 grams, stiff weighs 117 grams, and regular flex is 112 grams.  The Elevate 95 is lighter and available in two flexes – stiff is 98 grams, regular is 96 grams.

Per True Temper, the Elevate 95 provides higher launch and higher spin and is best for players with a “Deliberate” tempo.

If you’re tired of watching your iron shots skitter across the green instead of sticking next to the pin, consider the True Temper Elevate shafts.  Players coming from stout, low launching shafts, will enjoy the stable feel while benefitting from the higher launch angles and slightly elevated spin.

You making the switch?

' src=

Not at the moment. For as little golf as I play, I try to limit my changes. That said, the Elevate will be high on my list whenever I have a new set of irons built.

' src=

It was either these or the CTL’s for me. Funny they reminded you of them. I’m staying over 100g and I’m worried the E95 will balloon so I stuck with KBS.

' src=

Looking to get fitted with the elevate 95 but iam not sure what club head…Ive tried a ping,Callaway…any thoughts

Why make the decision in advance? Work with a fitter, test them all, buy what works best.

' src=

I just Got the Callaway apex pro iron with these shafts….. absolutely amazing! Smooth players iron with forgiveness! Check em out

' src=

Hi Eric, Curious what level of player you are. I’m considering the Apex v the Apex Pro.

' src=

Got elevate 95r in my ping 430, love the feel. I am 72 but still get my 7iron 160, but now it tends to stick much better and my tempo is easy to replicate.

' src=

PXG has a major sale going on. Hope you are still in the market I ordered them less than a thousand 4-PW

Thanks so much for the info

' src=

How might this shaft compare to Modus 105 in stiff, my gamer the past 5 years or so?

Similar weight, Nippon is smoother IMO, and the 105 might launch a little lower.

' src=

Thanks Matt! I really enjoyed your reviews.

How would you compare Ping 210 irons and PXG 0311 P Gen 2 irons ?

I’m 63, 3 handicap.

Those are pretty comparable irons…except that the PXG costs two or three times as much.

' src=

any comps with the xp 95 or 105?

I have to go really light to get my launch and spin up even with a driver ss of over 100

I didn’t test head to head, but my sense is that the XP is higher launching and spinning.

' src=

How does the elevate 95 compare to the Nippon 950GH? Thank you.

I didn’t test the 95 gram version of the Elevate.

' src=

I play the Apex 21 with the Elevate 95 reg. Distance is short and pull to the left, with these I hit the 7 iron 140 yards with a deliberatetempo. I’m 64 yrs. Will the Elevate stiff help?

The only way to know for certain is to test them in a fitting. That said, you’re missing short, that indicates a mishit or poor club selection, neither of which is going to be fixed with a stiffer shaft.

' src=

What is a deliberate tempo?

It’s just a way of describing someone with a smoother swing, someone who doesn’t aggressively force the club out of transition.

' src=

Matt, how does tour elevate stiff compare to Modus 120 stiff? Thank you.

The Modus is smoother, to me. The profile and performance are similar.

' src=

Forgive my ignorance, I’m wondering if there’s a correlation between shaft feel and tempo? More specifically, do smoother feeling shafts tend to fit players with a smoother, more deliberate & even swing tempo? P.S. Thanks for another excellent review!

With the caveat that we’re painting with a broad brush, yes, I think that smoother or more active shafts generally work better for players who have smoother transitions.

' src=

I’ve enjoyed these shafts since I’ve gotten them. I’m simply debating if it’s worth it to go from Stiff to Regular flex? My irons don’t miss to the right, I like my launch, high and straight, some baby draws. Just peace of mind I’m looking for haha.

Hi Matt, Enjoy your honest reviews. I”m a 3-4 Handicap. Would you recommend Apex or P790’s? I currently play Callaway Rogue w/ stock Adila Graphite 65g. Love the distance but want more consistency. Thanks

Both of those are expensive sets. I would recommend a fitting before spending all that money.

' src=

Bought new set if cobra king tour mim irons. Have c taper reg shafts. These feel heavy and stiff to me. Loosing distance and height. I think I need to change shafts to a more friendly reg flex than the c taper. I am 65 with driver ss of around 98 to 102. I have an aggressive transition but not a digger. Would these shafts work or any suggestions. Also worried about swing weight with a shaft change, but I know c taper r, feels like a stiff to me. Help?

My best advice is to get fit. The C-Taper is a very stout, heavy shaft, so there are loads of options that will be lighter and easier to swing. You can buy-and-try, but that’s ultimately going to cost a lot more and be a lot more frustrating than working with an expert. Regarding swing weight, any good builder can “neutralize” the effect of the shaft change and get your set to the swing weight you want.

So I’ve hit both the 95 S & R and the Tour R and found them similar. The Tour S was a little too stiff for me. I asked you earlier what the definition of deliberate was and you said something about a smooth tempo. The Mizuno optimizer put me in an R flex and in the 90-110 g weight range with a 75 mph 7 iron swing. C Taper Lite was my top rec. So it’s pretty darn accurate. So my question is why wouldn’t you designate the Tour R for a deliberate type swing?

I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at here. Where did I say that the Tour R would be inappropriate for a deliberate swing?

' src=

Sorry, it was a long day. All Im trying to ask is if you feel the Tour R, and maybe the S, could be categorized as suitable for deliberate swing types as well as the 95 series. Thanks again

Absolutely. If you’ve read much of this site, you’ve probably gathered that I put limited stock in the overly broad rules such as “Shafts like ____ are only for ____ golfers.” It always comes down to individual fit, and any fitter has seen plenty of examples that break all the rules.

' src=

Matt, How would the elevate 95 stiff compare to the KBS Tour 90’s? I’ve decided on the Apex 19 forged, but unfortunately I didn’t test the Elevate when I hit them. Thank you

I haven’t reviewed the KBS Tour 90, so I couldn’t give you a good comparison.

' src=

How would u compare the 105 tour x flex Elevate shaft compared to the 105 Nippon x flex. Weight and trajectory and is elevate shaft softer?

Are you referring to the Modus 105 from Nippon?

' src=

How would you compare the Elevate tour x-stiff to the DG 120 x100.

I have a complete review of the DG 120 here: https://pluggedingolf.com/dynamic-gold-120-shaft-review/

' src=

Hi Matt. Also interested in the comparisson bertween DG120 and TTElevate Tour as they are basically the same weight. I read your review of the 120s which is great but it does not answer the question. I have played DGs which I loved but getting older and not able to get all the juice from them anymore however that weight range around 120gr is still my favorite. Thanks

What is your question that the review of the 120s does not answer?

' src=

How is this VSS technology different from their previous SensiCore technology? It seems pretty much identical. Perhaps change in materials.

SensiCore is an insert that goes into the shaft. VSS is part of the design of the shaft itself.

' src=

Hey Matt. Did the regular flex in this tour shaft feel somewhat stable. It’s 112 grams. I play Project X lz 5.5 Looking for something I can grow into with a new set I’m getting and dont want to change clubs for a while. I usually dont change irons for 8-10years. I know you will say test them out first and I will. I’m 47 and I have ankylosing spondylitis. My driver went ss went from 120 to 105 and has been pretty devastating. In about a 12 Year span. I do yoga and I haven’t quit playing but I probably will. This may be my last set. Sorry to go off on a tangent but it has devastated me and I live in pain. I’ll go test them just wanted your opinion.

I didn’t test the regular, so, unfortunately, I can’t offer any opinions on that.

' src=

I have the tour r.. 7 iron swing low 80s. Feels great. A tad light for me at 112g when i transition too quickly so i need to figure out if i should use lead tape or something.

OK I guess I read that wrong. I thought you tried all 3 Tour flexes. I hit them tonight. I’m going Tour stiff soft stepped. Thanks Matt.

I hit the regular flex in a fitting last week and really liked it. Not sure of weight. I currently play Modus 105 in stiff and I think this new shaft performed better. I’m 63, up to a 4 handicap and battling back issues. I also hit Steel Fiber 95 grams in regular and very similar Track Man numbers

' src=

How do these compare to the Project X lz’s? Both seem to be going after the same goal in creating higher launch to add more “stopping power” when trying to hold greens.

I have limited experience with the LZ, but my impression is that the LZ is more active than the Elevate. Overall, I would agree that they’re similar shafts.

' src=

Do you know how these compare to the KBS Max?

I don’t have much experience with the MAX, but I believe the MAX is much lighter.

Thanks for the quick response. According to the stats on the manufacturer pages the KBS Max is 102g. The Elevate tour is 112g and the Elevate 95 is 96g. I probably should have been more specific as I am primarily interested in launch and spin. I had a fitting and got put in the KBS Max with a Big Bertha head. After looking on the Callaway website at all the different shaft options I am concerned that the fitter only had me swing 2 shafts. One steel (KBS Max) and one graphite (not sure which). I definitely hit the steel more consistent than the graphite and like the heavier club feel as well.

If you’re not confident in the fit, you should definitely go back and try more options or at least try those same options again. I haven’t tested the Max and Elevate head to head, so I can’t give you any information about their comparative performance.

' src=

I have heard that club fitters are finding that the Elevate shaft is playing a little softer and they are fitting players that may play a regular flex into the stiff flex. Have you found this to be the case??

I haven’t talked to the fitters I know about the Elevate specifically since I wrote this review. Based on the way it felt to me, I could see that as a possibility, but I don’t know it to be the case.

' src=

Matt Loaded question here, but first time asking! I have a background in the game which I won’t bore you with. However, I have a somewhat specific, yet general question: Hit the Elevate 95 stiff(Callaway Version) in a x-forged from a fitting cart. Loved it! Purchased a used 3 iron Apex iron with the Elevate 95 and hit it well!! I just ordered the Elevate 95 Tours which are tapers vs the Callaway Elevate parallels. My question; in your testing of shafts, have you found a significant difference between parallel and taper of a similar model shafts??? Wanting to put the Elevate Tour 95 in a combo set of x forged 18 and MB’s. I’m 60 years old and still shoot par or better, having played professionally eons ago!!

Great question, and one we may explore in a future Golf Myths Unplugged. At the moment, however, I don’t have any data from which to form an opinion about taper vs. parallel tipped shaft. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

' src=

Hi Matt, I am in the process of switching irons, played old Tommy Armour’s in stiff for the last 20+ years. And now i think it’s time to change those old trusty iron for something modern…i was fitted for Apex Combo w/ the Elevate 95 stiff, but without having played with them yet (swinging in the garage), i find them a little whippy, which worries me a bit. I am 52, play off of a 8 hdc , (club speed of about 95-98 mph) but don’t drive the ball that well…iron hitting is good. I want a club that will last me a few years. Can you provide any insight? Thx

If you were fitted into the Apex/Elevate combo by a good fitter, I would trust that fitting unless I saw a substantial amount of data on the course that said the irons didn’t work.

' src=

whats the difference between the Elevate 95 and the XP 95? Are they the same but just a newer model or are there differences?

There is a full review of the XP here: https://pluggedingolf.com/true-temper-xp-105-iron-shaft-review/

They are similar, but the Elevate has a new shock absorption technology.

' src=

Does the 95 Elevate balloon the ball into the wind?

Not if it’s well-fit to the player swinging it.

' src=

Can you tip these shafts without losing the characteristics?

I haven’t tested them after tipping so I can say for sure. Generally, tipping leaves you with the same shaft but stiffer.

' src=

Have you compared the elevate stuff 120g with dynamic gold S300

No, I tested the Elevate in X-flex.

' src=

Hi Matt, what’s your 7 iron club head speed. Mine is 83mph, would the elevate x flex be okay to use or would you need more club head speed. Thanks in advance.

Choosing the right flex goes beyond swing speed. I think 83 MPH for an Elevate X could be correct depending depending on your tempo and what you need in terms of ball flight.

' src=

I was so pleased that you reviewed these shafts back when you did, because they ended up on my “Matt Recommends” list (you’re inspiring me to get out and try more and more gear, but it’s beginning to cost me pal). I did end up moving to the Elevate 95 shafts after much hemming and hawing about graphite vs steel, lighter shaft vs heavier, et cetera, etc. I primarily needed some more club head speed, but also needed some reduced vibration – without compromising accuracy and feel. I definitely hit the steel shafts with greater consistency with much better feel, but the graphite felt better on the joints. Yes, I could practice less, and play fewer rounds, but meh…that’s just not happening.

I really wanted the graphite shafts to work, but the fitter said, it was all too obvious I was trying to make my swing match the shaft…nope…not a good strategy, he was right. I was starting to lose faith, when I remembered your review about the Elevate 95, and he lit up, found one on the racks, installed it on the club head and BINGO! I’ve been playing it now for a couple months and I’ve been so impressed, my scores have stayed nice and steady and my comfort and confidence with these shafts is only growing.

Coming from the Nippon 105 Tour and KBS Tour 105, I thought I would be disappointed with this transition, but the only thing I had to acclimate to was greater distance – anywhere from about 5-10 yards difference depending on the club, and less aching in the joints after practice and playing. I’m still working out the yardage as I play, but it’s getting more and more clear what these shafts can do. The accuracy is still there, and the ball flight is just gorgeous, no spinning up, no ballooning, just a mid to mid-high arc that keeps putting the ball right where I’m aiming. I can still work the ball, but I’ve taken on a new approach to simply going for the center of the green and putting for birdie instead of trying to work so much. Yeah, ok, I still have to put a little spin on it from time to time for effect and certainly in windy conditions I will play the right spin. And, the nice thing is, when I do want to go after it and step on it for a little juice, it still doesn’t spin up like some other softer shafts did.

Most noticeable, however, is the Elevate 95’s ability to dampen the vibrations – that’s a huge plus for a 60 something y.o. who still loves to practice hours on end. Also, for the record, I do have a smooth tempo and quiet transition in my swing, so I can’t speak for the golfer who swings more violently – but then again, that’s why I liked the Nippon and KBS so much. They loaded up nicely with my swing type, as does this shaft.

Matt, as always, thanks again for all your reviews. I have come to rely on your insights and they’ve all paid off, or maybe more accurately, paid out. Cheers; Jay

' src=

Hi Jay, I am in exactly the same position as you , I playEd the modus 105 in stiff for the last 4 yrs, but have always been on the cusp of reg/ stiff. When swapping to the 95 elevate did the flex stay the same ?, I could also do with the distance increase at 61 thus going from mizuno sc 18 to Callaway apex forged 19, thanks Keith

' src=

Matt, Can you tell me a shaft that would compare to the Memphis 10 UNIFLEX SHAFTS CALLAWAY irons, looking at buying new clubs and I live the MEMPHIS 10 SHAFT , is there a shaft out there today that compared to that shaft?? Thanks

I’m not sure what current shaft best compares. My advice would be to take your current clubs to a fitter and try a lot of different iron shafts until you find the one that feels and performs the way that you want.

' src=

Hi i just bought callaway mavrik iron set online they came with the true temper shafts now on the listing it said stiff so i figured they were coming with the 98 gram shaft but now that i have received them i got the 96 gram shaft regular….. so my question is will there be a big difference ? i dont feel like going through the whole process of returning them. But do you guys think is there a big difference ? thxs

The weight difference isn’t big, but the difference in flex might be meaningful to you. If I were in your shoes, I would return them and get what I ordered.

Ty Matt , It’s exactly what i did today. Thxs again !! Happy Holidays

' src=

Hey matt, i currently have 2019 m2’s with the stuff flex reax steel shafts. Im going with the new apex 21’s which have the true temper elevate 95 regular flex shafts. Is this too big of a drop off in terms of shaftvweight and flex? I currently hit my 7 iron 175 with my m2’s

I don’t know the weight of the Reax off hand, but I’d guess they’re in the same ~100 gram range as the Elevate 95.

' src=

What is your swing speed? Since the X- flex was the right shaft stiffness.

~110 MPH with a driver.

' src=

How similar would these be to the old True Temper DG High Launch?

Unfortunately I don’t know much about the DG High Launch, so I can’t compare.

' src=

How would you compare the Elevate tour to NP PRO 950gh NEO with the same flex ? on feel? what type of player should use the NEO and or Elevate. ? Are they similar? Which one would be easy to control? Which one would you recommend?

I would recommend that everyone get a fitting before buying new clubs. The Elevate Tour and NEO are similar in weight, though the NEO is noticeably lighter. In terms of profile, again, same ballpark broadly speaking, but the NEO is smoother and more active.

Thank you it’s just my set comes with elevate and I have a set of np 950 gh neo at home just to get an opinion about the feel difference.

' src=

I went to a fitter and they recommended the tour shaft…problem is I don’t want to pay what they’re asking…I can get king cobra forged tec irons in the 95 shaft…is there much of a difference?

I never recommend going against the fitter’s recommendation. While it’s possible that you won’t find a substantial difference between the two shafts, you might find it’s completely different for you.

' src=

I have just been fit for these shafts in some PXG 0211’s. I’m also looking at some vokey wedges and wondered if you could recommend a a shaft that is close to these as they aren’t available custom fit from titliest.

I never endorse going against a fitter’s recommendation. I understand that the right shaft might cost more in the short term, but I will always argue that well fit clubs are the best value.

' src=

I played the 95 for a dozen rounds and I loved them. They go high, don’t balloon at all and like the review says, they bite by the holes and I was playing a few elevated greens that were a little dry. I’m getting these or the 85s in my next set. I might even put them in my X14s which I adore and still play with alot. They could used a little higher flight and extra spin.

' src=

How would you compare the VSS Tour 122 gram x stiff shaft to the S300 . I’ve been told that the VSS Tour X Stiff 122 gram is actually not as firm in the tip section as a S300. I was fitted in the VSS tour x stiff in my PXG 0311P irons and had been playing the S300 prior in my Bridgestone tour forged. . Thanks

I haven’t hit them head to head, but my guess is that the Elevate in X is probably a bit softer in the tip than the S300.

' src=

Hi Matt, I am trying to order new irons and tested the Apex21 but can’t remember the shaft stiffness when I did as sim time was limited due to covid restrictions. Now I can’t even get in there at all to test one out. Given a generally moderate and relaxed tempo would you say its safer to go into a REG or A STIFF flex? In other words if I have to choose one blindly then the safer bet is…. Im 37 and 190lbs and often told I have a very relaxed and chill swing. Thanks for your time.

Your description leads me toward saying regular, but I’ll ask this: how would you prefer to be wrong? Would you rather have a shaft that’s too stiff or too soft?

' src=

Hi, I went to get fitted, tried so many clubs and shafts, in the end the only clubs that I could hit constantly was the Mavrik pro with the elevate r-flex 95 shaft. Wow, amazing shaft height and stoping power with 7 iron. I was averaging around 160 yard carry. and was like hitting through butter.. you have to go and test these shafts. Best I have ever hit the ball.

' src=

I am 81 and still use apex pro 19 irons with the elevate tour 115 reg shaft. I have tried a Mizuno club with a 90 gram graphite shaft and they feel as heavy as lead. I think swing weight is still important. Gary Player used to say D0 swing weight is heavy enough for we amateurs.

Swing weight is definitely important for players at all levels. However, I think Gary Player is horribly mistaken to lump all amateurs into one group. There are as many higher handicap players who can benefit from heavier swing weights as lighter ones.

' src=

How does the Elavate 95 compare to the Steelfiber 95cw for launch and feel?

I don’t have any experience with Steelfiber, but we have some reviews here: https://pluggedingolf.com/?s=steelfiber

' src=

Hi Matt, how would you compare the Elevate 95 Stiff vs the Elevate Tour in Stiff? Can you describe how both of them compare regarding feeling and ball flight? I currently play with project x 5.5, which one of these would you think feel more similar to the project x?

The only Elevate that I’ve reviewed it the Elevate Tour X-flex, shown in this review, so I can’t give you a knowledgeable comparison between the shafts you referenced. If you’re looking for a new shaft that will feel similar to your PX, my suggestion would be to get a fitting and try a variety of things to find what feels similar to you.

' src=

Hi Matt, I am considering the Elevate XP 95 for my 14 year old son. He plays off a 4 handicap, with about 74 mph with a 7 iron (140 carry). I am also considering the Nippon 950 GH or 950 Neo as well as I have read so many great things about these shafts. Do you think there is a real big difference? As the new Ping i210’s would come with the Elevate shaft included and the Nippon would be an upcharge. Thanks for your help!

My recommendation is always to get a fitting. I think the shafts you’re comparing are significantly different in feel, but others may not notice it. The performance difference is noticeable to me, for others it won’t be. The only way to know is to try them.

' src=

My son has the 2021 P790s with the Elevate shafts in stiff ! He’s complaining that the shafts r pitting ( going rusty) . I’ve looked at them and agreed that it’s not acceptable! They r only 3 months old , cost a fortune and he keeps them inside the house ! Why r they going rusty ??

I can’t speak to the cause, but I’d suggest contacting True Temper. I would hope they would make this right for you.

' src=

Matt I have a set of PXG 0311XP with True Temper Elevate 95 R flex. I have had the set 11 months. I have had the shaft in my 9 iron & 8 iron brake about 3 inch below the grip. Have you heard about anyone else having there shaft brake?

I haven’t. That’s very unusual to have two shafts break in the same spot.

' src=

Matt I’m considering P790 irons with Elevate 96 regular shafts. Is there much difference in flex between E95 and E96 reg shafts? Also do E96 have VSS? I’m 72 with a similar slow swing speed, handicap 15 and looking for more distance now.. the E95 shafts sound appropriate for me but the P790 deal has E96s. I know you will say “get fitted” but it’s difficult to find a fitter near me with P790s in stock.

I’m not familiar with the differences between the E95 and E96. Where do you live? There are Club Champions almost everywhere, and they all have the P790 to fit with.

' src=

I’m glad I found this shaft! It’s a great upgrade from my old one.

' src=

Enjoyed your article. My iron set is Callaway Rouge ST Pros. Irons have the Elevate 95 MPH Regular Flex. But I am replacing a lost 7 iron with same shaft but Stiff flex (was a reasonable price preowned). How muck of a difference should I expect. I am a 10 handicap. Thanks

Unfortunately, it’s impossible for me to say. Some people can switch flexes and barely notice. Others think it’s night and day. I hope that for you it’s the former.

Got new ping430 with 95R elevate very happy with the feel and weight. Swing speed is about 80 but ball speed is much higher. This works for me!!

' src=

I have a set of TA6 irons that I love and the club faces are in great shape. These clubs came with the True Temper Action Lite regular shafts. I am thinking about changing to the Elevate 95 Regular flex. Would you recommend this and will I see a difference in weight?

I’m not that familiar with the Action Lite, so I don’t know their weight. As to changing shafts in general, I don’t recommend it without a fitting first as you won’t know for certain what the results will be.

True Temper Elevate Tour Shaft Review

True temper elevate tour shaft.

These days players everywhere are screaming for low launch and low spin shafts all over the place.  The truth is, these low spin iron shafts out there can be good for distance, but most amateurs, and even plenty of Tour players, really need a bit more spin.  In fact, True Temper received enough feedback on Tour that players needed something to give them a little more launch and better angles of descent.  True Temper’s response was the mid-weight Elevate Tour steel shaft.  This shaft is designed to have a more mid trajectory with medium spin that should be just enough of a bump for good ball strikers that don’t want to live in the low/low world.  The Elevate Tour also features True Temper’s Vibration Suppression System (VSS) which “dampens” shaft vibration while still maintaining critical shot feedback in the hands.

Feel 12

How Does it Feel?

True Temper makes a simple, yet GREAT, point on the Elevate Tour page.

“Your swing tempo isn’t just your swing speed but also your swing pace. Consider how you pull the club back, how long it hangs in the air and how quickly you swing through the ball. Swing tempo helps indicate how the club is loaded and how the club will react through impact.”

Yes, yes, and more yes.  Tempo was the most apparent requirement for me with the Elevate Tour shaft both in feel and performance.  The Elevate Tour is geared toward a more moderate swing tempo, whereas my tempo is typically on the more aggressive side.  When I made more aggressive swings, I could feel an early release in the mid section of the shaft.  You know that infamous “squibbly” feeling that bewilders you at impact, you’ve been there.  Then I would make a smoother swing (probably how I should be swinging anyway…) and it would be a totally different experience.  With a smoother swing tempo, the Elevate Tour was stable and had a really nice “snap” through the ball at impact.   It was a significant night and day difference in feel between tempos.

Let’s talk about True Temper’s Vibration Suppression System (VSS Pro) technology real quick.  Normally when I see things like this, especially in steel shafts, I roll my eyes.  My experience with any sort of dampening system is that they either don’t work or make the club feel dead.  Tip of the cap to True Temper, their VSS works.  I tested the Elevated Tour in Callaway Apex MB iron heads which aren’t super forgiving.  Trust me – they’ll let your hands know when you hit a bad one.  Out on the course I hit plenty of thin, fat, and off-center shots.  While the feedback was still there, the lack of sting in my hands was impressive.

Performance 5

On-Course Performance

For this performance section, let’s assume I’m referring to the smooth-tempo swings I mentioned in the Feel section.  Those were the swings where I experienced the most worthwhile, optimal, and telling results.  The medium launch and spin profile of the True Temper Elevate Tour is pretty dead accurate.  My stock shot was somewhere between piercing and rising which worked out nicely.  I’d put the spin level at a nice “comfortable” spin rate.  What do I mean by “comfortable” spin rate?  I felt the ball had enough spin to hold greens and manipulate shapes, but was low enough to maintain control and prevent ballooning.  In short, the balance of spin and launch was just right for a good ball striker looking for a little extra bump compared to the usual Tour-calibur iron shafts .

Should you need to call on the Elevate Tour to get the ball higher in the air, it’s pretty easy to do.  Likewise, it’s also easy to put more spin on your shot to get some extra bite – especially with short irons.  With the longer irons, I wouldn’t say shots were stopping dead on the greens, but I had much softer landings which paid off by way of a few nice GIRs on longer approaches.  (And maybe an eagle putt or two that didn’t make it all the way to the cup, as usual…)

True Temper Elevate Tour 8

Final Thoughts – True Temper Elevate Tour Shaft

The key to success with the True Temper Elevate Tour is going to come down to the right swing tempo.  Following my testing, I firmly believe that.  A nice and easy, more moderate swing tempo will result in a strong flight that has a little extra lift to it.  This will pay off in more carry yards, but also in softer landings on the greens.  Remember, a more moderate tempo doesn’t mean you don’t have club speed.  You can still have a fast swing speed.  It’s all in how you load, transition, and deliver the club to the ball.  In terms of the entire True Temper lineup, I think the Elevate Tour is one of the more user-friendly high-performance shafts that will be a welcome addition to us mortals .

Hey Bill… I have the same swing type as you and still looking for a higher launching, higher spinning shaft for the small firm greens I play. Is there any solution for us? The XP 115? The Elevate Tour at the heaviest available weight? Very interested in any thoughts you have.

' src=

In what sense do you have the same swing type? I think your questions can only really be answered with any type of accuracy with fitting and testing. What works for me a certain way could be totally different for you and how you physically respond to the shaft.

' src=

I’m 66 yrs old. Playing with the Elevate 115 VSS pro S flex. I’m noticing I’m not getting the same distance from my irons as I use to when I first got the about 18months ago. i.e. was hitting my 7iron about 160/165 now losing about 10yards. Should I change from stiff to regular to get back my distance. I love the weight of the 115 and would go back to Elevate shaft cause the feel amazing!

Have you noticed a change in ball flight, or is it just distance loss throughout the set? Let’s start there.

' src=

I’m looking at a 105.

The Elevate range have been consigned to the “retired” catalogue according to the TT website.

The Elevate 95 VSS & VSS Pro look as though they have been replaced by the DG 95 VSS & Pro.

What has happened to the 105?

All I can see is DG 105 and a DG 105 Tour Issue in the catalogue. This would suggest that TT have removed the VSS insert tech.

Is this what is to be assumed?

Strangely I have recently trialled a TM P770 7 iron head that has been screwed onto a trial cart shaft that has DG 105 VSS Pro labels and decals all over it, when it is apparent that this shaft actually doesn’t exist.

I’m not totally sure on the ins and outs in everything you posted, but a True Temper Elevate product line still exists on their website here .

As far as your P770 example, I would imagine it’s a case of having some of the older options from previous product lines still in it that hasn’t been fully updated.

' src=

How does this compare to Dynamic Gold 120 ?

That’s a tough one. It’s been awhile since I’ve hit the DG 120 and haven’t really swung the Elevate in awhile so I can’t A/B them too well. In theory, I’d you’re going to get a nicer feel with cleaner feedback in the Elevate.

' src=

You stated these shafts performed best with a smooth tempo swing. I tend to be fast and (at my age) won’t change that. With that info, which one of these shafts do you suggest? I am a 6/7 Hdcp and have Apex 16’s w S300 shafts. Thx

Fast tempo and aggressive tempo are different things. That said, it’s pretty tough to blindly make a suggestion on either of these without you actually testing them. I would say the s300 will play more rigid if that’s what you’re looking for.

Hi Bill, I was fitted into the Tour Elevate stiff shafts which are 117 grams on the cobra forged Tec. I didn’t buy from them as they were double the retail price. The only elevate that cobra offers is 95 grams and I’d like to get a similar weight to what I hit in the fitting because it gave me pretty consistent contact. Do you know what would be a similar shaft to the Elevate that I was swinging in my fitting? Cobra has several other options from KBS, Nippon, Project X and TT Dynamic Gold

Not really, sort of an apples to oranges situation you’re looking at there. Personally, I feel like if you lined up all those shafts for me, each one feels and performs quite a bit differently. Without actually testing them, it’s going to be a shot in the dark how they respond in your hands, especially after specifically fitting to a shaft that you know if your target.

If you’re going down the path of blind choosing an alternative from their list, your best bet is to look up the various specs on all of them and choose which one compares the closest on paper.

Just my two cents.

Model Breakdown

True Temper offers two models of Elevate iron shafts: the Elevate Tour and the Elevate 95.

Elevate Tour

The Elevate Tour is a heavier shaft that is designed for golfers with higher swing speeds. It provides a stable feel and consistent performance, with a focus on distance and control.

The Elevate 95 is a lighter shaft that is designed for golfers with slower swing speeds. It provides a softer feel and higher launch, with a focus on accuracy and forgiveness.

Both the Elevate Tour and Elevate 95 shafts feature True Temper’s Vibration Suppression System (VSS). VSS is a proprietary technology that dampens vibrations at impact, which can help to reduce golfer fatigue and improve feel.

The Elevate Tour also features a mid-bend point, which promotes a smooth and consistent swing. The Elevate 95 has a slightly softer tip section, which helps to create a higher launch and more spin.

Here is a table of the key specs for the Elevate Tour and Elevate 95 shafts:

Pros & Cons

  • Smooth and consistent feel
  • Good balance of distance and control
  • Vibration dampening technology
  • Available in a variety of flexes to fit different golfers
  • Can be too stiff for golfers with slower swing speeds
  • Can be too light for golfers with higher swing speeds

Actual Player/User Comments

The Elevate Tour shafts are a good choice for golfers with higher swing speeds, while the Elevate 95 shafts are a good choice for golfers with slower swing speeds.

True Temper Elevate Tour Shaft Review

True Temper Elevate Tour Shaft Review

By DanSueltz November 1st, 2018

True Temper is complementing its lighter weight steel shaft offerings with a 115 gram steel shaft that offers a mid to mid-high ball flight and mid spin for better stopping action on the green.  This shaft also incorporates True Temper's VSS Pro (Vibration Suppression System) for a 56% reduction in vibration versus standard steel shafts.  Here is our True Temper Elevate Tour shaft review:

Get a free online fitting now to see which  shaft best fits your swing.

Static tests:.

The Elevate Tour VSS shafts are taper tip (.355") that come in discrete lengths from 37-41".  The shafts are offered in typical True Temper flex designations of R300, S300 and X100, with weight ranges from 112 to 122 grams.  Shaft consistency and quality (flex, torque, weight, and balance point) ranked over 91% which is very high for a lightweight steel shaft.  Tip consistency is very similar between each flex meaning the ball flight should be very similar regardless of if you are playing R300, S300 or X100.  From a flex perspective, these shafts will play slightly soft to flex, so you will need to hard-step the R300 and S300 to get to the flex you are used to in say a Dynamic Gold S300.  This is pretty typical of lighter weight steel shafts.

Player Tests:

Our tests always put shafts in our players hands that match their fitting recommendations from our Fitting Wizard or BGF Fitting System.   That way our comparisons are valid in terms of launch, spin and dispersion versus other shafts.  All tests were done with either a Mizuno JPX-919 Tour or PXG 0311 6 iron.

Launch:  True to spec, these are a mid launch shaft.  Testing showed about one degree higher launch than a Dynamic Gold 120 and similar launch to an OBAN CT 115 and KBS $ Taper in similar flex.

Spin:   Again, spin is only a couple hundred rpms higher than either the OBAN CT 115 or KBS $ Taper.  Consistent with what we expected.

Dispersion:   Because we test with shafts that are frequency matched and swing weight to the test player, shot dispersion is not dramatically affected.  That being said, the Elevate Tour had a 1 yard tighter shot dispersion which is not statistically meaningful in our opinion.

Feel:  Now we get to the "soft" side of a fitting...feel.  To a person, our testers agreed that the Elevate Tour shafts with the VSS Pro technology felt the best of all of the other steel shafts tested.  What this tells us is that if you are a player that may have some tendonitis issues and are considering swapping out to graphite, you should at least test out the Elevate Tour shafts first.

Overall:   We think this shaft will be a great alternative to heavy graphite shafts as the shaft launches higher than most in this weight category and has great feel.  For those players that struggle getting the ball in the air with today's low lofted irons or hybrids, this will be a good option!

True Temper Elevate iron shafts provide player-friendly response to club and ball low-spin technologies

Elevate 95 copy.jpg

The True Temper Elevate iron shafts come as a followup to the ongoing quest of club and ball technologies to reduce spin in the pursuit of more distance. It’s just not in the way you think it might be.

No, rather than more efforts to reduce spin that seem to permeate the game today, the Elevate looks to help modern irons with their low-spin technologies and stronger lofts launch shots higher with more spin—and help modern golfers as a result. There’s an obvious logic at work here: Unlike drivers, iron shots need spin so shots don’t bounce and roll significantly after they land.

The Elevate comes in two versions: a lightweight Elevate 95 (in two flexes at 106- and 108-gram weights), which is also the stock shaft on the new Callaway Apex irons ; and a more mid-weight, better player shaft, the Elevate Tour (in R, S and X- flexes at 112-122-gram weights).

Elevate Tour copy.jpg

“This low-spin equipment trend is great for distance, but for a lot of amateur golfers and even some tour players, more carry and spin is actually needed,” said True Temper’s Keenan Phillips. “In fact, Elevate Tour came in direct response to feedback from tour players telling our reps that they were needing a shaft to help create proper launch and descent angles while still maintaining a mid-weight design.”

Both Elevate iron shafts also incorporate True Temper’s internal shock absorption mechanism. Called VSS, a strip of foam winds around the inside of the upper portion of the shaft. On the Elevate 95, the VSS insert reduces 71 percent of vibration for a softer feel, while the VSS Pro insert on the Elevate Tour reduces 56 percent of vibration to provide better players with the optimized feel they prefer.

The Elevate shafts ($60) are available through authorized True Temper Performance Fitting Centers.

True Temper Elevate 105 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight

True Temper Elevate 105 Shaft

The whole marketing angle of the True Temper Elevate series of shafts is to sort of disrupt the growing trend of strong-lofted irons.

And honestly, I’m reluctant to call it a marketing angle after testing the True Temper Elevate Tour for myself. It is a really nice shaft that performs as advertised.

But the True Temper Elevate Tour is heavier than the True Temper Elevate 105. After testing the Tour version, I really wanted to see what the lighter version had to offer.

So read on as I tell you about my test experience with the True Temper Elevate 105.

True Temper Elevate 105 Shaft Overview

First of all, the feel of this shaft is surprisingly smooth.

At a 105g weight class, I was half-expecting the action to be way too much for my swing.

But it wasn’t. Instead, the action was smooth, controlled and seemed to transfer energy efficiently into the ball.

One of the things I really liked about the feel of this shaft is that it seems to produce a nice snap upon impact.

The snappy feeling is the culmination of the faster club head speed and the efficient energy transfer.

But despite the fast club head speed, I never lost control of this shaft.

That all being said, I described the feel of the True Temper Elevate Tour as reactive and I would say the same of the True Temper Elevate 105.

The feel really depends on how you load up on the shaft – especially with this lighter version. But even if you take a really controlled swing, you can still feel the activity in this shaft.

So don’t mistake this as a shaft that can be manipulated to feel dead or lifeless.

The looks of this shaft are nothing to write home about. The True Temper Elevate 105 bears a classic polished steel finish with a stepped design.

There is a band in the middle of the shaft that contains all the branding and specs.

Why is the True Temper Elevate 105 So Popular?

True Temper Elevate 105 Shaft1

The True Temper Elevate 105 tends to be a hit among moderate swing speed players because you don’t have to work too hard to load the shaft.

It is naturally active and it would probably help slower swingers get their swing speeds up a bit.

How Does the True Temper Elevate 105 Perform?

My main point of contention with the True Temper Elevate Tour shaft was that I had to slow my tempo down in order to get the best feel and performance out of it.

That need was exacerbated with the True Temper Elevate 105. But I knew that going into my test session so I brought along another tester with a slower swing speed.

For me, the True Temper Elevate 105 was producing high-arcing shots that never ballooned out of control; but were well higher than what was optimal for my swing speed.

For my testing partner (83 MPH average swing speed) the True Temper Elevate 105 felt just right. The launch was high and his carry distance was above his average.

The spin rates that the True Temper Elevate 105 was producing for me really caused me to slow down my tempo lest my ball go flying into the woods.

I was able to smooth out my swing to a point where I was finding the middle of the fairway; but it took quite a bit of effort.

On the other hand, my testing partner was able to shape his shots at will and had no problems with dispersion.

In fact, he was getting tighter dispersion than I was on most shots.

True Temper Elevate 105 Shaft Specs

What flexes are available what swing speeds do they suit.

Regular flex might be good for 75-80 MPH swingers.

Stiff was good for my testing partner who swings between 81 and 85 MPH. I did best with stiff flex which is good for 86-95 MPH swingers.

What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?

The 106g and 107g versions should cover players in the 75-85 MPH swing speed range.

The 109g version may work better for players in the 86-95 MPH range.

Why is it So Good?

The True Temper Elevate 105 is a good shaft for slower swing speed players because the spin and launch properties are enough for vast workability; but not enough so that it’s easy to lose control of the ball.

True Temper Elevate 105 First Impressions

True Temper Elevate 105 Shaft2

My first thought was that the True Temper Elevate 105 felt really smooth and very fast.

Loading the shaft was really easy and I suspect it would also be easy for slower swing speed players.

Key Features & Performance

The True Temper Elevate 105 comes with the Vibration Suppression System which smoothes out harsh vibrations on mis-hits for a cleaner overall feel.

True Temper Elevate 105 Irons Review

It was very easy to get high-arcing shots even from the long irons.

The True Temper Elevate 105 really prefers a smooth tempo though.

True Temper Elevate 105 Wedges Review

Both my testing partner and I were experiencing excellent stopping power in the wedges.

We were both able to add more spin at will for a little extra bite or keep it moderate.

True Temper Elevate 105 Pros & Cons

  • Clean feel at impact
  • Easily loaded
  • High launch
  • Great for moderate tempos
  • Not good for aggressive tempos

True Temper Elevate 105 Shaft2

Overall Score: 95/100

Who Should Buy it?

There’s no doubt in my mind on this one: the True Temper Elevate 105 is absolutely for sub 90 MPH swingers with deliberate tempos.

If you are a part of this category of players, you will enjoy tight dispersion with ready workability from the True Temper Elevate 105 shaft.

The True Temper Elevate 105 also has ample stopping power for long approaches.

Hello all,

Does anyone have any information to compare these shafts or have played both and what was your experience?

I understand they are similar in weight and both are designed to be higher   launching for their weight category but I cannot find them both together on any shaft charts and I do not know the torque or profiles in any detail or which plays   stiffer.

Any feedback or experiences with them welcome.

Thank   you

Tour-V Stiff will play consideribly stiffer than Eevate Tour in stiff. For example if you are gonna compare the Tour-V in terms of overall stiffness, you would have to compare it to the True Temper Elevate Tour 120X (which the Tour-V is still stiffer overall).  From my experience fitting with the Tour-V, it seems to fit individuals have quick tempos, who are steeper and have excess spin. The Elevate is better for more moderate tempos who struggle with delivering enough loft at impact or in other words who struggle to provide enough launch angle, peak height, and decent angle for their ball speed.

Two totally different profiles for different types of golfers.

Hope this helps,

I could be wrong, but I was assuming the “v” meant “versus” not as in Tour V.  The regular KBS Tour seems like a good comparable to the Elevate Tour.

Oh man, now I see. Answer is still similar. KBS Tour is about 5g heavier, has a higher balance point. The KBS Tour S is significantly stiffer than the Elevate Tour. You will definitely feel less "kick" in the down swing to stiffer midsection. I would expect the KBS Tour to have a lower trajectory due to a higher tip stiffness. My source is a golfshaft database from a major oem and software subscription. However, you still want to test and swing the shafts. How a golfer swings (speed, tempo, setup, and swing mechanics) as well as their miss tendencies will determine what shaft is a better fit.

Yes sorry that was my bad it was Kbs Tour Stiff and TT Elevate Tour Stiff as the comparison.  Thank you for the feedback its very helpful as I previously had the Kbs tour Stiff and was hoping elevate tour Stiff would be softer as a set of irons I'm thinking of going for have the elevates in them.

When I tried them the elevates definitely played softer and launched higher.  While I don't think anyone would call KBS tour harsh, the elevates are another level of smooth if that's your thing.

Skipperation

Elevates definitely felt very smooth and easy to swing so they give the sensation of playing soft to flex but saying that they still feel very stable, don't seem to generate excessive amounts of spin and provide a pretty boring but mid-high flight. I've started playing them in my long irons and have been very impressed. For reference I play soft stepped X100 pw-7 and then soft stepped Elevate Tour X 6-4. My Elevates feel wise are probably closer to a lighter version of an S300 in terms of flex/feel but seem to have better dispersion and a more penetrating higher flight.

Only had a brief experience with KBS Tour and would say the KBS might feel stiffer due to its butt stiffness and being counterbalanced would probably amplify this. Mid to tip I'd expect them to be similar, though for a higher launching shaft the Elevates felt very stable, probably more so than the KBS Tours in my brief experience. The Elevates are definitely worth trying if looking for a mid-high launching shaft.

Elevate in x is a dream shaft for all stiff / x in between golfers. It does feel softer then most stiff shafts but it works

Im not sure how you can make such a blanket statement about it being a dream shaft for all stiff/x golfers.  I just finished my fitting for a new set of irons on Friday, and the 2 worst shafts for me were the Elevate and the Modus (hit in 120, 130 and 125 grams).  In each of these cases, the dispersion on the shots were just too big.  I ended up getting fit for the LBS Tour V in X flex.  I am by no way an X flex swing speed, but for me and my swing, it was about finding a shaft stable enough for my quick tempo and transition.

I would suggest, if you have the ability to......go get a proper fit.  I did my first full proper fit for a new set of irons and couldnt be happier.  I ended up ordering through my fitter (ended up costing about 200 more) but i wanted these irons TO MY SPEC.  I have ordered direct from a sales rep twice before, and ended up with clubs that were too light, or too short, or in 1 case, incorrect lofted (PW was 2 degrees from the 9 iron loft).

Played KBS Tour for a while and picked up a set with the Elevate Tour just recently.  Im closer to X Stiff speed wise but have a pretty smooth tempo so usually stick with Stiff flex.  For me, the KBS are smooth, mid penetrating flight, tight dispersion with a little stiffer feel throughout than the elevate.  The Elevate are super smooth, peak flight is higher, still good dispersion with the big difference being a distinguishable kick through the ball and better overall balance.

I could see having issues with the Elevate if you have an aggressive transition.

Thanks for the feedback and comments on experiences with these shafts everyone.

I have been previously been fit for project x 6.0 and kbs tour Stiff, the project x at my golf club and kbs at American golf in the UK.  Admittedly the fit at my golf club was 4 years ago and the Kbs about 18 months to 2 years ago but I never got on with either, almost as if smashing a 7 iron off a matt for an hour with a launch monitor was nothing like my experiences on the course esoecially 6 iron up.  A while back I bought a cheap second hand club with DGR300 (the classic heavier DG) and I found that a lot easier to hit and control with better dispersion and flight control albeit slight distance loss (could have been the head also) so good to hear the elevate is slightly softer than kbs but in a similar weight range, I may give it a try on course.

It's almost as if I'm the kind of person who wants to be ported into the future... A time mayve where we have a gadget fixed to our clubs which track every shot.

For example during lockdown I purchased a sc300 launch monitor to hit into my garden net, no idea how accurate the LM is but with a 7 iron I range from 75 to 83 mph swing speed, that may put me in a reg or stiff depending on shot, but in the future maybe we will have a gadget that tracks all our shots on course then we will realise that we hit most iron shots one way, say easy 7 Irons into greens, we could look at the stats and see oh that nice feeling smooth shot I hit into the 6th last weekend is what I'm looking for and use the stats on that to get fit into the optimum shaft, I find it hard to transfer range findings to all the on course variables.

Finally, I’ve found a forum topic I feel confident I can comment on as I’ve played both shafts, albeit neither for extended lengths of time.  KBS tour- feel amazing. One of the more responsive steel shafts for my swing that I’ve experienced. That being said, always felt I had to give it the nuts to make it work. Plays stiffer to a soft transition than the flex warrants. If I had to guess (which I am-heavily!), the counter-balance aspect of the shaft has more to do with that than the cpm or flex. It seemed like the more speed I tried to put into it at the top, the more consistent the results.  Tour elevate- smooth, smooth, smooth. Think lazy. It’s equally as difficult to swing 85% as it is to go balls-out, but the 85% swing at that smoother transition shot the ball out at a lower, less spinny trajectory.  It jumped carry 7-8 yards for me, which cost me 8th place in my club championship because there was a bit of whiskey flu going on second  day. I am fully realistic in my character flaws impacting my scoring ability.  Still, a bit of an eye-opener at the time.    Synopsis: If anyone has ever commented that you seem like you are barely putting effort into your swing, lean towards the tour elevates.

caveat: aformentioned character flaws are heavily influencing my posting of this at the moment. Incorrectly assumed a litre of Crown Royal was too much to kill before I fly back home tomorrow.

Gonna raise this thread up again .. got fit into elevate 115S . I was thinking of soft stepping one but sounds like maybe I shouldn’t and there already play a touch softer ?

Driver swing speed hovers near 100 if that matters , not sure my 6 iron speed 😁

  • 2 weeks later...

@mandelbloom I'm guessing you're referring to the newer model which is the Elevate ETS 115s. Swing speed is only one metric, but generally speaking you are correct.

Elevate 115 ETS is slightly overall stiffer, specifically in the tip/tip-mid section of the shaft.

Both are classified has mid-high trajory shafts.

For me the KBS Tours are a mid flight shaft and the Elevates are a mid high shaft.  Elevates may feel softer in flex than the Tours.

Thanks got them finally! Left them as is .. they are just fine not too stiff at all !

I like KBS in general and the Tour is one of my favorite shafts. I find the 120 stiff does feel pretty stiff to me, but that I’ll bet that is mainly because I like a little lighter weight. (110-115g seems to be my sweet spot.)

So I go with the Regular flex 110g and there is no difference in dispersion. According to Hireko charts, the 6 iron taper tip CPM is 322 on the Tour 120 and 306 on the 110, so these are not soft shafts. They have a bend profile that works well for me. Love the feel of them. The ideal fit for me would likely be the 110g regs hard-stepped twice.

Have played the Elevates in Tour stiff and regular (HSx2) and they’re excellent. Definitely easy to get in the air. Feel very smooth. The VSS works. But I have tested many times and I am a half-club longer with KBS. I generate plenty of spin.

Had a fitting today.

currently play p760s x100s fitting day ‘fit’

was fit into srixon zx7s with elevate tour in the stiff.  a little surprised as I sit around 89-91 chs with the 6 iron and I am in the middle of a swing change from draw pattere to fade. But I have unfortunately drilled in a low ball flight now as a recovering spinny slicer. Now a serial snap hooker.

flight was noticeably improved with the fit.  My old send tend to come out flat and lower spin with a descent angle of around 30/35. Was high 40’s pushing 50° with the new fit.

I trust the fitter but my ego still thinks me to be X (if I’m being totally honest). I always thought I had an aggressive transition and I’ve worked on making this better but I didn’t think I’d changed it that much to warrant a fairly radical shaft change.

I do appreciate that the zx7s are low launch and low spin for a once piece iron.

hearing all this chat about them playing even softer than the DG equivalent isn’t helping. I did enjoy the livelier feel of the shaft.

I know this is a month old now, but I wanted to comment that I had an outdoor PXG fitting the other day and was fit into Elevate Tour Stiff. We started in X based on speed, but the lighter weight clearly was a better fit. I had been previously fit into C-Taper Lite X (115g) and #2 was Project X LZ 6.0 (120g) so this makes sense.

It surprised me, but the stiff never felt loose. If I order I may hardstep them just for a little peace of mind, and I may go softstepped X for PW and GW because I've ben really happy with LZ's in my wedges and I think that would be most comparable. Also because by the time I get to wedge shafts I obviously can't hardstep the stiffs.

That's probably almost all in my head, but I had the same concerns as you and it makes sense to mitigate that.

Ended up reshafting with fujikura pro graphite 115x soft stepped. Couldn’t be happier with the switch!

The True Temper Elevate Tour was designed with the input of Tour pros who wanted more spin from their iron shafts. These are tour-weighted shafts with unique launch properties.
