[2023 GUIDE] How to Start a Travel Instagram – 8 Tips from a Travel Influencer

*POST SUMMARY: How do you use Instagram for travel ? Tips from a travel influencer who has worked with international tourism boards and luxury hotels – read below!

Starting a travel Instagram has opened my opportunities for travel influencers to travel the world while making money online . But the question still remains, do travel Instagram pages still make money in 2022? The answer is YES! Who would’ve thought like ten years ago that a platform like Instagram could eventually lead people to pursue their passion, such as traveling while earning a full-time income ? The content creators, who have some of the best travel pages on Instagram , generate their income mostly from tourism and brand sponsored content. Today, tourism boards hire Influencers with a trendsetting travel Instagram accounts to promote their country’s tourism spots.

According to a  National Geographic  report, travel influencers provide an incredible amount of investment when it comes to promoting tourism.  As a result, influencers with a big following and an aspirational travel Instagram pages get hired sometimes on a monthly basis, raking in full-time income while traveling the world. It’s a lifestyle that every aspiring digital nomad wants to achieve.  Considering the opportunities in the travel Instagram space, every wanderluster wants to emulate travel influencers who get to pay a lot of money and travel for free.  Unfortunately, many fail to realize that becoming an ‘influencer’ and having a trendsetting travel Instagram page takes a lot of work and requires a certain level of professionalism to turn this passion into a full-time career through Instagram.

In this article, I will give eight simple tips to help position yourself to become a travel influencer and turn your Instagram into a full-time career.

How to Become an Influencer on Instagram? Find Your Travel Instagram Niche

travel account bio

If you’ve ever wondered how to become a travel influencer , your travel Instagram needs to hone and focus on a specific niche to establish yourself as a thought leader and an authority in that subject.  Traveling is a huge niche with so many sub-niches you can focus on. The different types of travel niches are adventure travel, luxury travel, health and wellness travel, gastro tourism, themed cruises, tropical/island travel, hiking, winter destinations, and so on. Picking one (or if you can blend a couple of other sub-niches through your content), can help you establish authority over the subject.

An example of a travel Instagrammer in the adventure sub-niche would be posting content related to exploring mostly wild, outdoor, and exotic locations that requires a bit of adrenaline. The images and videos in adventure travel give a high focus on non-touristy places, destinations that are still unknown to the masses. Trolltunga, the now popular site in Norway, reported an increase in their tourism from 500 to 40,000 between 2009 and 2014. The spike in tourism credits the rise of Instagram between this period.  Another example of a sub-niche in the travel niche is luxury travel. To be regarded as a go-to influencer in this sub-niche, your travel Instagram would have to be filled with luxury travel content. Examples would be pictures or videos flying in first class, or staying in luxury hotels, or traveling in style that people aspire to achieve someday.

Build Your Instagram Brand

how to start a travel instagram

Digital branding is key to helping your travel Instagram page stand out from the many other successful travel influencers. Many creative travel influencers have spectacular content through their stunning travel photography and inspirational videos. With the number of travel influencers out there today, you need something more than great content to stand out. With that said, digital branding gives you that extra edge to compete with other travel Instagrammers vying for travel campaigns via Instagram sponsorship .  Building a digital brand is part of a travel influencer becoming an aspiration and inspiration.

Perhaps loyalty is the most significant advantage and benefit of creating an aspiring and inspiring digital brand. When you have a loyal following, they are more likely to engage and interact with your content, which is critical if you want to grow the followers of your travel Instagram page. A way to create an inspiring and aspiring brand for your travel Instagram page is to post visually striking images or videos consistently. If your content doesn’t capture your followers’ attention, they will just scroll past your post and be buried among the rest.  Another strategy to create an Instagram brand is through your voice. Do your captions tell a meaningful story that engages your audience to think, and inspire them to join the conversation? We spend quite a lot of time ensuring that our captions on each of our posts reflect our brand and represent our voice.

Take Great Photos

how to become an influencer on instagram

Instagram is a visual platform, so it should not be a surprise that taking great photos is a massive part of becoming a travel influencer. But don’t think you need to be a professional photographer to create visually striking imagery to inspire your followers about your travels. It’s about knowing the simple tips and tricks of creating a beautiful image and finding your style of photography. Once again, being a travel influencer doesn’t require you to invest money to study photography. However, it does require you to study the basic rules of photography and find a style that works for you. For example, every travel influencer I know is familiar with the rule of thirds, where the basic idea is NOT to place your subject and focus on the center of the image.

Another photography basics are lighting, where travel influencers mostly shoot during a specific time of day (mostly in the early morning) to have the softest lighting possible.  Apart from learning the basics of photography , many travel influencers use Presets to improve their pictures. These days, it’s pretty rare for a travel influencer not to have a preset of their own that they sell so that you can easily copy their feed. If you prefer not to spend money on presets, you can still improve your pictures by knowing some tips and tricks on how to improve  Instagram filters .  Lastly, taking exceptional photos also doesn’t mean having the fanciest and most expensive equipment. For us, we do use a professional camera that helps us create some of our best content. However, there are also moments where a picture looks just as great as using an iPhone.

Take Great Videos

Mastering Videos is another medium that travel Instagrammers need to master. We especially like to take videos on our travels and make it a point to post on our feed. Videos allow us to capture our experience on our travels better than images can. Editing is one of the necessary skills in creating a powerful Instagram travel video. Great editing would quickly tell a story and draw your viewers to keep watching the video. Focus using some of your best shots on the first five to ten seconds of your video to ensure you captivate your audience’s attention.  Consider using video editing apps such as Adobe Premiere Pro , or edit videos directly on your phone with apps such as Videorama . Both of these editing apps are user friendly and easy to follow and master.

After you’ve mastered the editing portion, the next step is selecting the right music that goes along well with your travel videos.  Some of the equipment to use to build our Instagram travel pages are drones, a professional camera, and an iPhone. We especially love drone shots because it allows us to capture certain angles that would otherwise be impossible. Professional cameras can capture quality videos as well and are high on the ground level. Lastly, iPhones are also excellent quality for capturing videos for stories.

Travel Instagram Stories

how to become a travel influencer

Instagram stories are, without a doubt, one of the platform’s popular outlet.  Considering that editing photos and videos take time, posting on Instagram stories about your travels allows you to give a preview of what’s to come. For us, we rarely post our content on our feed immediately following our travels. The amount of time it takes to edit a video and photograph just takes too long.

As a result, content creators use Instagram stories to share their content immediately. The posts are typically instantaneous and don’t require editing effort. Instagram stories also allow their followers to get an instant glimpse of their travels, and allow content creators to document everything that is happening during their travels and share them with their followers. It’s fun and a great way to interact with your followers. Instagram stories are such a powerful medium to take your travel Instagram to the next level because it allows you to go off-brand. Regardless of being a travel influencer, posting content not related to travel is entirely acceptable and won’t be seen as ‘weird.’ Posting content not related to your niche allows you to show off a little bit about yourself and other things that your followers can relate to.

Use Hashtags

Travel Instagrammers who get hired for paid travel campaigns, the use of hashtags in almost always part of the deal of the job. It means that for every post we make about the travel campaign, we have to use that specific hashtag related to that campaign.  Using hashtags can make a difference in getting your content discovered and ultimately land on the explorer page. The hashtag allows Instagram to identify people who are not following you but may be interested in your topic. In other words, you could be gaining a lot more followers if you use hashtags correctly.  So use hashtags effectively, whether on your feed posts or stories, chances are your content will reach a new audience you’ve never had before!

Collaborate with Other Travel Influencers

travel instagram niche

Part of the job of travel Instagrammers is to network off Instagram.  Not many realize that part of the hustle is to meet other travel Instagrammers and collaborate on creating content. They tend to tag each other on stories and on static posts, which creates an opportunity to be introduced to a brand new set of audiences and grow their accounts.  For us, the best part of meeting other travel Instagrammers is getting an opportunity to be invited to other travel campaigns. If a travel campaign is looking for 15 other content creators, you can potentially get an invite your new travel Instagrammer friend endorses you to be part of the campaign.  Collaborating with other travel influencers also allows you to learn from each other. There are so many creative strategies and knowledge that influencers can share with each other – from little tricks on taking pictures, or how to edit videos, or possibly learning the business side of having a travel Instagram page – networking with other influencers is a crucial part of their growth in the business.

Starting a Travel Instagram Hub Account

Many might be surprised to know that you can still start a travel Instagram account even if you don’t have a lot of personal travel content to post.  You might have just said ‘How?!’ Many Instagram travel pages are created to repost other travel content creators. It’s a curated travel page where they repost other travel pictures or videos while giving credit to the original poster. It’s a great strategy to build your travel content and followers in the beginning if you don’t have a lot of travel-related content to post yet.  Some of the Instagram accounts that are travel hub accounts that you should check out our @theglobewanderer , @welivetoexplore , @beautifuldestinations , and @earthpix to name a few.  The travel hub accounts mentioned amassed followers in the millions, and followed by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, both in the US and abroad.

Final Word To Start Your Travel Instagram

There you have it!  Traveling while getting paid is possible with Instagram. It’s a dream that many wanderlusters aspire to have given the freedom to pursue your passion for traveling while getting paid to do it.  It’s totally doable, but it seriously takes a lot of hustle, consistency, and dedication to achieve the lifestyle of traveling the world while getting paid.  It’s also important to add that a certain level of professionalism is required to achieve success in the business. Besides creating content, travel influencers have to become business savvy and know how to pitch and negotiate when it comes to paid Instagram sponsorships – it’s all part of the game!

2. Highlight Your Specializations

If you have specific areas or destinations that you specialize in, make sure to mention them in your bio. This will help you attract clients who are looking for expertise in those areas and increase your chances of securing bookings.

Example: “I specialize in luxury travel experiences, with a focus on tropical destinations such as Bali, Maldives, and the Caribbean. My extensive network of contacts allows me to curate unforgettable experiences, from private villa rentals to exclusive yacht charters.”

Example: “Donna and John Smith, one of my recent clients, had this to say about their experience working with me: ‘Sarah’s attention to detail and insider knowledge made our honeymoon trip to Italy truly unforgettable. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless and exceeded our expectations.'”

7. Personalize Your Bio

Make your bio more relatable by sharing a bit about your personal interests and hobbies. This will help potential clients connect with you on a more personal level, creating a sense of trust and rapport.

The 22 Best Instagram Travel Accounts To Inspire You

instagram travel accounts to follow

Instagram is simple, it’s visual and it creates a quick emotional impact! It’s also a great way to discover new places around the world. No wonder I’m always seeking the best Instagram travel accounts to follow!

Even though I despise the direction Instagram is going, with self-proclaimed influencers spreading like wildfire ( beautypreneurs is a thing now…) I confess I do spend a significant amount of time there .

Sometimes double tapping cat videos. Sometimes stalking my friends. But I’m especially interested in new travel inspiration. And now I’m sharing them with you (the travel content, not the cats).

Best Instagram Travel Accounts to Follow >>

For this list, I tried to avoid hollow influencers who only use travel as a way of getting new backdrops for their own photos. The world needs valuable content, interesting things to learn and see and especially people who truly love to travel.

With no particular order, these are my favorite Instagram travel bloggers to feed your wanderlust (list updated May 2019). They are travel bloggers, Youtube stars, journalists or simple amateurs sharing real, honest, and interesting content.

Let’s get inspired!

1 @paulodelvalle

Paulo’s was one of the first accounts I followed in Instagram. He’s a Brazilian travel photographer, but mostly a storyteller. His amazing photos in the most varied landscapes inspired me to follow my own wanderlust dream.

Estou muito impressionado com a beleza dos templos e santuários japoneses. Cada um mais bonito que o outro! 😍 I’m really impressed with the beauty of the japanese temples and shrines. Each one prettier than the other! 😍 Tokyo, Japan. 🇯🇵 w/ @marlonduque A post shared by Paulo del Valle (@paulodelvalle) on Jan 3, 2016 at 6:11am PST

2 @youngadventuress

View this post on Instagram It was so normal in Myanmar to pass groups of young monks or nuns on the street or in temples….I even got cut off in traffic by monks on motor scooters! On my last night in Mandalay, I had just left the Sandamuni Pagoda when I came across these young Buddhist nuns draped in pink. I climbed Mandalay Hill into the sunset and who knows where they ended up. It is amazing how such disparate lives can pass in a flash…and how we smile at each other in our shared humanity. Instagram highlights

On Instagram, there is a helpful feature called “Highlights” which lets users gather and display their most captivating and significant stories. Unlike regular stories that vanish after 24 hours, highlights stay permanently featured on a user’s profile, just below the bio section.

These highlights serve as an organized way to categorize and present your story content. Each highlight appears as a circular icon that can be personalized with a cover image and title, making it effortless for your followers to explore your archived stories.

Travel agencies can take advantage of highlights to curate themed collections of their travel content. For example, they can create highlights for various destinations, travel tips, customer testimonials, or exclusive offers.

  • Story Organization: Instagram Highlights provide an aesthetically pleasing method for organizing your content, presenting a polished and organized view for your followers. By categorizing your stories based on destinations, travel tips, customer testimonials, or promotional offers, you can simplify the process of finding relevant information for users.
  • Highlight Agency Expertise: Using highlights allows you to demonstrate your agency’s expertise as well as services by sharing valuable insights about your travel offerings and experiences. This helps establish trust and credibility with your followers.
  • User Engagement: By crafting captivating and educational highlights, you can entice your audience to delve deeper into your profile. This not only boosts user engagement but also amplifies the likelihood of them taking desired actions such as making travel reservations or subscribing to your newsletter.

When it comes to travel agencies, showcasing your unique identity and theme can be achieved through thoughtfully designed highlight covers. Consider using captivating images of iconic landmarks, breathtaking landscapes, or even incorporating your agency’s logo as cover images. To set a highlight cover on Instagram, follow these steps:

  • Access the desired highlight from your Instagram profile.
  • In the lower right corner, tap “More.”

  • Choose “Edit cover.”
  • To pick an image from your camera roll, tap the photo icon at the screen’s bottom.
  • Select the new highlight cover from your camera roll.
  • Tap “Done” to save the changes.

Creating captivating and inspiring Instagram highlights for travel agencies requires a combination of organization as well as creativity. By curating engaging content and organizing it into well-structured highlights, you can captivate your audience and evoke a sense of wanderlust.

A captivating and informative profile can be created by showcasing exclusive behind-the-scenes moments, sharing content created by users, as well as providing valuable travel advice and information.

By utilizing tools such as Predis AI, you can easily create unique brand templates for your highlight covers. This guarantees a consistent and visually appealing look for your Instagram profile. The Travel Agent Bio: How to Create an Authentic About Page (With Examples!)

Updated December 8, 2023

One website page causes travel agents more anxiety than any other. Many of us sit, staring at that blinking cursor, at a loss for what to write.

It's not a sales page.

It's not a destination page.

It's the About page.

We can talk all day about why we love travel, why you should love travel, our favorite destinations, and the resorts that delight our clients.

But that elusive travel agent bio? Most of us freeze up when it comes to that page on our website.

So let's change that. Let's make writing our about pages as easy as talking to a friend.

What is an "About" page?

Your "About" page is more than a digital business card or an autobiography squeezed into a page. It needs to contain your travel agent bio, but it's also more than that.

Think of it as the pilot's announcement telling an airline passenger who's flying the plane.

As someone who used to hate flying (I know, right? And I work in travel!), there have been times that I've felt anxious, but the pilot has one of those voices that reassures me, even if I can't really say why.

That's what a well-crafted "About" page does. It tells your website visitors that they're in capable hands.

With the right words, it can be a page that pulses with personality and whispers about distant wonders while showcasing the fantastic travel advisor you are.

Unfortunately, many travel agent bios are about as thrilling as reading the safety card on a plane. They do nothing for your travel agent marketing efforts. They may even turn off the potential clients you're hoping to attract!

Why an authentic "About" page matters

The travel industry thrives on trust. That means your "About" page does more than just let people know you exist. It should also build connections that span locations and time zones.

An authentic travel agent bio and well-crafted "About" page can take a potential client from window-shopper to paying customer. It helps them feel connected, confident in your ability to serve their needs, and excited to work with you.

It's also often the second-most visited page on your website after your homepage, so it's hugely important.

So, how do you create this masterpiece of a website page that does all this heavy lifting? It's actually quite simple.

Components of an authentic "About" page

A blond woman with glasses is sitting at a desk creating travel agent bio ideas. She has a mac laptop sitting open in front of here, and she's holding a cup of tea. Next to her is a small vase of flowers, and a bookcase sits along the wall behind her. She's wearing a red sweater over a grey shirt. The office is all in colors of light peach and white.

A hard-sell "About" page is about as much fun to read as an appliance user's manual. But a well-crafted page is a delight. It can be fun, witty, and unexpected while still communicating that you're the travel agent your ideal client is looking for.

Here are a few things your "About" page can include:

Your travel agent bio and stories

Share those personal stories. That childhood memory that sparked your love for the world. What are the things that help make you relatable to the type of client you want to work with?

Real experiences

Did an amazing travel experience shape you in an unexpected way? Or did a lousy experience planning a trip, or someone else's bad experience, make you decide to become a travel advisor? How did those things change how you look at the work you do?

Adding examples of what you've done for other clients to your travel agent bio helps build credibility and trust, two vital parts of engaging with a new potential client!

Why you love what you do

Let the joy you feel for what you do seep into your written words. Show someone that arranging travel doesn't feel like work to you - it's something you love.

Steps for building an authentic "About" page

Step 1: your travel agent bio is about you, but needs to speak to your client.

Your "About" page needs to be centered around what your client needs and wants to know.

What about you makes you a good fit for their needs? (give examples!)

What stories can you share to help them feel reassured that you understand them?

What questions do they have about you or your services that you can quickly answer as part of the page?

The more you keep your customer's needs in mind as you write your "About" page, the better it will serve them.

> Start here if you need to figure out who your ideal customer is.

Step 2: Decide on the structure for your page

An "About" page doesn't have to have a bunch of paragraphs. In fact, it shouldn't.

Paragraphs can be exhausting in our TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter-focused soundbite world. Your text should be skimmable and easy to read because, let's face it, most people aren't reading every word of anything.

You can choose from several structures, including the basic, the FAQ, and the "10 things I hate about you" (shoutout to the '90s teens!). There's even a combo platter option for those of us who can't decide on just one!

Want some great travel agent bio samples? Check out the CIRE Travel About page .

The Basic Bio

You want to answer the basic questions a potential client has. Who you are, what you do, where you do it, and why you do it. Make each of those a section heading, like "Who I work with" and "Why I plan cruises."

An about page structured this way is simple for a potential client to skim through, pull out the information they need, and quickly decide if you're the travel agent they want to work with.

Keep your answers simple, and use words your client would know and use.

Don't say "We work with luxury travel suppliers to create the bespoke vacation you've been dreaming of."

Because no potential client has ever thought "I should go online and look for a travel agent who can help me create a bespoke vacation with a luxury travel supplier."

Instead, they've thought things like "Oh my gosh, I still haven't started planning that trip and need to do that," and "I love Suzie's Instagram. She always goes to fun places and makes everyone jealous. I wish I could do that."

Speak to those needs and desires with sentences like "We make it easy to plan that picture-perfect vacation you've wanted" and "Have an Instagram feed that makes all your friends jealous."

Adapt this strategy to use the words your ideal client would relate to, and your website becomes magic.

You can find great, simple travel agent bio examples on the Embark Beyond website.

Help people get to know you better and feel a connection with a conversational, FAQ-style page. Answer those burning (and not so burning) questions that tell people who you are, why you do what you do, and whether or not they're a good fit for your services.

Questions like "Do you plan more than one trip at a time?" or "What are your favorite destinations?"

Make it feel like a conversation. It's a perfect way to showcase your natural personality and conversation style.

What questions would a friend ask, and how would you answer them? Brainstorm a bit, and then get them written down. Voila, you have a great start to an "About" page!

Ten things I hate love about…

Think of this as random facts, but with intention. Do you love Italy but hate pasta? There's an unexpected but fascinating fact about you!

You could include things like a favorite food, a skill that most people don't know about, or a travel quirk that you have.

A section on your travel bio with ten things you love about your work is also great. Let potential customers know more about what you do and why you enjoy it.

The Combo Platter

This format is for those of us who can't settle on just one structure. For example, check out my About page .

It's the Basic (what I do, who it's for, and why you'd want to work with me) and the 10 Things. Some are related to travel. Others aren't, but they give a snapshot of my writing style and help potential clients decide if they want to work with me.

Step 3: Remember the CTA!

Every page on your website, including your "About" page, must have a call-to-action, or CTA.

The last thing you want is for someone to read your "About" page and think, "Yes! They seem awesome and I want to work with them!" and then have to search for what to do next.

That's a great way to lose a potential client, so make it easy for them. Include their next step right there while browsing your page.

> How to create a great CTA

The Bottom Line

A well-crafted "About" page injects authenticity into your marketing, puts a human face on your travel business, and invites potential clients to join you on an exciting journey to explore the world.

By using the words that speak directly to your ideal client and making sure your About page resonates with them, you help create a connection between you and your potential clients.

How to Utilize Instagram for your Travel Agency

' src=

With over 1 billion monthly users , Instagram has become an increasingly popular social media platform, especially among businesses. From features such as Story and Story Highlights, all the way to Shoppable posts, Instagram has changed the playing field for many small businesses. In fact, 60%  of users have sought out and discovered new products just by utilizing this mobile app.

For travel agencies, Instagram has proven to be a powerful visual platform. Seeing is believing, and that couldn’t be any more accurate than it is with the travel industry! With this platform, users are able to create stimulating and breathtaking visuals that give viewers their very own taste of that experience. 84% of millennials  and 73% of non-millennials are more likely to plan a trip based on someone else’s photos!

Now that you know WHY you should use Instagram, here is HOW you should do it!

Starting an Instagram account for your travel agency

1. creating your account, what’s in your bio.

First, make sure your account is a business account. By doing this, your profile allows customers to contact and locate you directly! You can also create targeted ads with this feature. Instagram just recently released a new account type exclusively for influencers called the Creator profile. See if the creator profile is best for you here .

Next, you’ll want to create a short snippet of what your business does. Yonder Travel Insurance does a great job at using a short, but concise statement!

How to Utilize Instagram for Your Travel Agency

Your bio section is the first thing a customer will see when they click on your profile, so you’ll want to choose wisely what you say about yourself. Take it a step further and add a link in your bio. You can use your website or if you’re registered with Later, you can utilize their “ Link in Bio ” feature. With this option, you have the ability for each individual photo to have a specific link.

How to Utilize Instagram for Your Travel Agency

2. How to sell travel

Check out how Chelsea Martin of Strong Travel, utilizes Instagram to promote her travel business: https://www.instagram.com/passporttofriday/

On Instagram, you’ll find many niches ranging from health and fitness, all the way to family and parenting. As a travel agency, you’ll want to identify your specific niche , whether that be:

  • Backpacking
  • Family Travel
  • Sustainable Travel, etc.

Chelsea Martin does an excellent job of promoting her own travel business, specializing in honeymoon and bespoke luxury travels. A great way she showcases and sells travel is through her stories highlight, exhibiting a different country or city. At large, selling travel is reviewing and recommending places to stay and eat, as well as ways to get around, different products or airlines.

How to Utilize Instagram for Your Travel Agency

3. Creating an aesthetic

This is the fun part! As a brand, you want to make sure you’ve identified the look and feel you want to communicate. Are your brand colors clean and sleek, or are they more earthy and warm? It doesn’t hurt to look at other profiles for some inspiration .

When it comes to photos, if you have your own–feel free to use as much as possible! However, if not, you can use free stock photos websites, such as Unsplash , Pexels , or Pixabay . You don’t have to give credit and you are free to edit the photos any way you like. Another option is to use UGC or User Generated Content. This option still gets you access to incredible photos, however, be sure to give credit to the original owners.

It can often be difficult to find photos that are all the same. However, this is when filters and presets come in handy! Photo editing apps, such as VSCO , not only have great filters and features, but also allow you to create presets you can use continuously. This way you are always making sure your photos have the same aesthetics and appear visually coordinated!

4. Frequency of posts/when to post

Once you visually plan your content, you can actually start posting. Schedulers, such as Later , allow you to create a calendar (even for multiple accounts), schedule content ahead of time and plan according to upcoming holidays or events! You can even find useful information on the best times  to post.

More importantly, you’ll want to understand the demographics of your audience, as that determines how frequently you should post. The key is to post enough to engage your followers and to be consistent, but not so much that you bore your followers or worse, cause them to unfollow you.

5. Engaging the audience

With over 500 million  people watching Instagram stories, there’s a high chance your stories will be viewed as well. The trick is to use stories to engage with your followers. The first step is to get creative with your stories content. Calpak does an exceptional job at designing highlights that engage. For example, check out the launch of their Kaya Backpack. If you want to take it one step further, you can use template apps such as Over . Over gives you many templates and fonts to choose from. The possibilities are endless!

How to Utilize Instagram for Your Travel Agency

Learn how to implement stickers into your stories! This is a great way to start conversations, encourage your followers to share their opinions or questions or to take part in quizzes. Use the poll sticker to learn what your followers like and dislike as well as what they would like to see more of in your Instagram stories. Apart from increasing engagement, the quiz sticker is helpful in educating followers about your brand or services. Feel free to share as many fun facts about yourself or your brand as much as possible!

Using hashtags in stories and feed posts can boost organic engagement. Did you know a post with at least one hashtag generates an average 12.6% more engagement  than posts without a hashtag? To achieve the best results, you’ll want to make sure the hashtags are relevant to the content of the post. A more narrow, specific hashtag will increase your chances of being found in search results, whereas generic hashtags will only lose your content among the many others.

6. Using influencers

Your customers are your influencers! Don’t neglect the value of a customer posting about their vacation and tagging you.

Every customer is a potential influencer, so never neglect the value of them posting about their trips and mentioning you. Influencers range all the way from nano and micro to macro-influencers. It all depends on the size of the following. However, keep in mind that macro-influencers do not necessarily mean more engagement or a higher ROI. In fact, it’s better to work with micro-influencers  who are in your niche.

When working with influencers, they will either charge per post or exchange it for a service you provide. When doing this, they get to experience your tours first hand and in return talk about it through their posts! What’s even better is that most people are more willing to try something out if their favorite influencer has already done so or just simply talks about it!

Influencers are already talking to your audience, so what better than to partner with them? For a fraction of what it costs for traditional marketing, you still gain access to your customers and your brand is introduced through an authentic and trusted source. When your product is featured or mentioned by an influencer, it looks more like a recommendation from a friend, rather than a celebrity endorsement. This makes all the difference as a small travel agency trying to establish yourself within the industry!

7. Call to action

Gif stickers  are a fun way to add a personal touch to Instagram stories. Did you know they can also generate a call to action (CTA)? Using Gif stickers is a great way to get your point across without sounding too pushy. Stickers such as, “Swipe Up, Tap Here, and Learn More” can all be used to enhance your stories. Keep in mind that although you can use these stickers, they will not link to a website until your account has reached over 10,000 followers.

How to Utilize Instagram for Your Travel Agency

Until you reach 10,000 followers, another useful feature is “Link in bio,” as already mentioned. As a travel agency, you aren’t necessarily selling a product–more so a service, so shoppable posts are not something you’ll be investing your time into. However, with a link in bio option, you still have the opportunity to link your posts to a site–whether to a blog post or to different company’s site. Ultimately, the goal with CTAs is to make them as easy and as obvious as possible to your followers! Show them you value their time. If you’re having trouble identifying your CTAs or determining if it will attract your audience, ask yourself if the CTA would intrigue you enough to click.

8. Using Analytics

See how implementing these steps have made a difference for your Instagram account! Since your account is a business profile, you can access Instagram Analytics . You can find this by clicking the right-hand side of your profile page.

How to Utilize Instagram for Your Travel Agency

Insights are broken down into three categories: Content, Activity, and Audience. With each feature, you can see a breakdown of your Instagram performance, such as new followers, profile views, impressions, reach, etc.! You can also check out the demographics of your followers, such as gender, age, location, and activity time peaks.

*Keep in mind that these demographics are  only available after reaching 100 followers*

You can also use Instagram Analytics to analyze your story posts! Similar to feed posts, you’ll need to click the three bars on the right-hand side of your profile page, and “Insights” again. Next, you’ll want to go under the “Content” tab and you’ll then be able to view data specifically for your stories. Another option is to go in your stories tab and just swipe up. This is what it will look like.

How to Utilize Instagram for Your Travel Agency

Understanding these insights can be influential in driving sales and traffic to your site and increasing engagement or followers! You learn what content your followers enjoy seeing as well as when they are most active. However, using Instagram analytics is more than just finding the best performing photos, stories, or videos. It is truly understanding how you can use key Instagram metrics to develop a successful content strategy for your business.

We get that marketing yourself can be a difficult and time-consuming task, but it doesn’t have to be now that you know the in’s and out’s of Instagram Marketing!

15 affordable places to travel in 2024, ranked in a new report.

Want to take an affordable vacation in 2024? You’ve come to the right place. Although travel costs are on the rise this year ( up 3.1% ), it’s still possible to save money in 2024—if you know where to go.

A new travel report from the U.K.’s Post Office —a British-based mail and financial services company — has just unveiled some of the most budget-friendly destinations for 2024. And although the annual report is aimed at U.K. travelers, it’s a helpful list for Americans, too.

By analyzing currency strengths, local prices and essential tourist expenses in 40 popular vacation destinations around the globe, the Holiday Money Report 2024 highlights some of the cheapest places to travel. The report ranks the destinations based on a barometer that takes the local price of eight tourist essentials into consideration—including coffee, beer, cola, wine, water, sunscreen, insect repellent and a three-course meal. And while the report doesn’t include factors like hotels and airfare, it helps give a good sense of where your dollars will stretch the furthest.

This is the 18th year that the Post Office has done this report. And the good news: Prices have fallen since last year in 25 spots on the list. (A note that the original report included prices in pounds sterling, which have been converted into dollars here, using the exchange rate on the date of publication of 1.26.)

An aerial view of Hoi An, Vietnam, the most affordable destination to travel in 2024, according to a ... [+] new report.

Leading the list as the cheapest place to travel right now is Hoi An, Vietnam. According to the Post Office report, a total estimated cost of just $64.51 a day for the travel essentials makes this charming gem the ultimate bang-for-your-buck destination that won’t break the bank. Located on the central coast of Vietnam, Hoi An entices visitors with its UNESCO -recognized Ancient Town, a picturesque spot where lantern-lit streets lead to quaint shops and street food stalls. It is also convenient to stunning white-sand beaches—some of the most beautiful in Asia .

Best High-Yield Savings Accounts Of 2024

Best 5% interest savings accounts of 2024.

Following closely behind in the second spot is Cape Town, South Africa, where an outlay of $68.48 a day for the essentials promises an unforgettable experience against the backdrop of Table Mountain and pristine coastlines. Here, you can dive into the vibrant culture and indulge in world-class dining (a three-course meal for two people averages less than $44.140) without denting your travel fund.

The coastline of Mombasa, Kenya, with a pair of camels on Diani Beach.

Mombasa, Kenya takes the third spot on the list. This beachfront destination on the east coast of Africa beckons with its white-sand shores, vibrant markets and rich Swahili heritage, offering an immersive experience for travelers seeking both relaxation and cultural exploration.

In a surprising twist, Tokyo, Japan—a bustling metropolis where tradition meets modernity—secures the fourth spot on the list. According to the Post Office, just $74.43 a day is needed for essential tourist purchases. Helping drive this ranking was the cost of a glass of wine (an average of only $4.56) and a bottle of water (averaging 77¢).

The cliffs of the Algarve overlooking the Atlantic Ocean above the Benagil cave in Lagoa, Portug.a

Rounding out the top five is the Algarve in Portugal, which combines culture, history and natural beauty at a fraction of the cost compared to previous years. With its sun-drenched beaches, charming villages and delectable seafood, the Algarve offers an idyllic escape for travelers seeking an affordable yet enriching getaway.

How To Create A Great Instagram Bio: 7 Steps

1. add a searchable keyword on your instagram name field and username.

The first step to optimizing your Instagram bio is to add a searchable keyword on the name field and the username.

Ideally, whenever users type a keyword or a name on the Instagram search field, the app populates results based on your username to determine the most relevant search results.

Search results are matched by text. Using an Instagram username or profile name that’s related to the content of your posts is your best bet for showing up in relevant searches.

For example, if you are an artist, you may want to include your job title along with your full name on the username or the name field. That way, people searching for you or your services on Instagram can find your account easily.

Notice how Asiko , a professional artist, uses the name field to include his occupation for clarity.

That way, when you search for an artist or use their name, you can find their account easily.

article

If you want to change your Instagram username or name, follow these easy steps:

Step 1: Go to your profile on Instagram

Step 2: Tap or click edit profile

Step 3: Enter the right name and username

Step 4: Hit the submit button or click save, depending on the device you are using.

2. Highlight Your Skills & Target Audience

When Instagram users search you and find your profile, the next thing they will do is check out your bio to make sure they are viewing the right account.

Therefore, a good Instagram bio communicates what your business does and even mentions your target audience.

Having a 150 character count limit for your bio can feel a little tight, so this is your chance to explain to your audience why and how they should get in touch or shop from your brand.

Here are key tips to help you highlight your skills and explain to them what you do.

  • Try to keep your expression simple
  • Use a single thread or theme to link your expressions together
  • Choose readily understandable terms / avoid jargon and acronyms
  • Focus on benefits , not features

For example, Ericka , who Is a social media marketer and an Instagram expert, includes a clear description of what her business entails at the beginning of her bio.

She mentions: “I coach brands on how to use IG to attract, connect + convert their followers”.

article

Right after reading this description, her audience gets a glimpse of the types of services offered and what her content is going to look like.

3. Include Relevant Keywords On Your Instagram Bio

While adding keywords on your username and name field makes you discoverable, the Instagram bio is also a great place to add keywords you want to rank for.

Typically, using keywords on your Instagram may not directly help you become more discoverable on the app, but will give your account more focus and connect you with like-minded followers.

When describing your business on the Instagram bio section, include secondary and primary keywords:

Primary keywords are the main words describing your business. For example, for a landscaping expert, “gardener” might be the primary keyword.

Secondary keywords are those that add a bit more detail to the primary keywords and are more related to the searcher's intent. In our example, secondary keyword can be “gardener near me.”

Adding primary and secondary keywords to your Instagram bio enables your audience to feel more connected to your brand.

Here are a few tips to guide you when choosing relevant keywords:

  • Refer to Google Autocomplete : when you type an inquiry into the Google search bar, Google autocompletes the inquiry based on the most popular phrases people used in that context.
  • Look for Synonyms and Semantics : try looking for other ways of describing the keywords you have entered.
  • Google Keyword Planner : The free keyword research tool tells you the average search volume and how competitive the keyword is.
  • Use paid keyword research tools : SEMrush, Moz, and Ahrefs are examples of paid keyword research tools to give you insights into your Instagram bio keywords.

4. Add a Link to Your Instagram Profile

The simplest approach of adding a link to your Instagram is displaying it in your profile.

Unlike links placed on Instagram comments and posts, a link on your Instagram bio will be hyperlinked. That means whenever Instagram users tap on the link, they will go straight to your website.

When you create an Instagram post, include a call to action that tells visitors to check out your profile for the relevant link to your e-commerce store or website.

Alternatively, you can use a service like Linkin. bio , which turns your whole Instagram feed into a clickable landing page and drives traffic to your website.

When you add links to any Instagram posts your Instagram audience will be directed to the right content or products on your website.

For example, Barbara Corcoran , a real estate professional uses linktree.com to add a link to her business unusual podcast.

That way, she can drive traffic to her podcast effectively.

5. Add Your Contact Information

Adding contact information on your Instagram bio means Instagram users can contact you directly. It is an excellent means of developing your brand and Instagram business opportunities.

You can add your phone number, email address, or address to the physical location. This way, anyone who wants to know more about your brand can get in touch with you conveniently.

For example, Décor Finity , supplier of household items includes a phone number of their Instagram bio information.

7. Add a Relevant Profile Picture

The final step in the process of optimizing your Instagram bio is choosing a relevant profile picture.

The obvious choice for this would be your brand logo as appears on your website, marketing materials, or other social media platforms.

Adding an identifiable picture makes it easy for your target audience to recognize you.

It also helps to raise brand awareness by making sure it is constantly visible within your niche on Instagram.

A great Instagram bio creates a great first impression and reflects what your brand offers in the first instance.

When creating the Instagram bio for travelers , explain who you are and what you offer your audience. You can do this easily by including keywords on the username and name field.

Include keywords on your bio description, and add a link to your website or blog, to drive Instagram users to your profile.

Do not forget to include your contact address, so that your users can get in touch easily.
