7 Day Southwest National Parks Grand Canyon Camping Tour
This has been one of the best travel of our life. The landscapes are all breathtaking and all the activities are extraordinary. The only negative point is that this is a lot to do in 7 days and we would have like to spend more time in each national park.
- 5% deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.
7 day Southwest National Parks Grand Canyon Tour
Amazing tour! I can’t say enough about this company. We had a fantastic tour guide, amazing fun group, great weather- all around best experience of my life. Really professional tour company- highly highly highly recommended.
Alaska Kenai & Denali Adventure
was very good, MS. RACHEL DE GENNAO BEST OF THE BEST WOMAN. SHE EXELLENT ORGANIZER, SHE HAVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ALASKA, SHE IS VERY FRIENDLY AND BEAUTIFUL GIRL. I BE GLAD HAVE DAUGHTER LIKE SHE. STEVE VEPRIK. ,

Mighty 5 From Las Vegas
We had a fantastic time. The scenery is incredible of course. The guide was charming, thoughtful, knowledgable and an excellent driver. the accommodation exceeded our expectations. We were lucky to have a great group of people. The trip was really well organized.
Wild Western USA
Great tour, but Intrepid should have definitely declared it as a youth tour. If you're older than 25 you're an oldie let alone being in your 30ies, 40ies or older. Nevertheless the organizing was good, you got a lot of freedom though being a guided tour and you get variety of different impressions ranging from crowded cities to total nature.
- In-depth Cultural
Vegas to San Fran
Hiking Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite
Hard working and efficient CEO. Camping sites were ok - facilities not working well. Stated iteniary changes - hiking options (unavoidable) and drop off at end of tour (would have been helpful to know sooner). Beautiful area to experience - some hikes too difficult for me unfortunately. I will look more closely at the rating in the future.
Majestic Alaska (10 Days)
This was the best tour I’ve EVER been on. From the people to the places, it was a wonderful adventure. Trafalgar’s Alaska staff may have ruined me for all other tour companies.
- €100 deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.
Best of the Canyonlands (7 Days)
Great. Our guide Stephen was excellent

Yellowstone / Grand Teton 4 Day / 3 Night Wildlife Adventure
This trip was completely worth the time and money spent! We had the pleasure of having two guides: Gannon and Rachel, and they could not have been nicer people. Informative, enlightening, funny, interesting -- they just couldn't have been any better. The scenery in Grand Teton and Yellowstone was magnificent, and we saw plenty of wildlife, up close and at a distance. Hotels were pleasant, and the meals were good. I would recommend this trip to anyone who hasn't traveled to the western United States.
- Coach / Bus
American Parks Trail (Classic, End Denver, 9 Days)
The Tour Director and driver were first class, keeping us both very amused, and very safe. Some of the downsides were due to the weather, at times, which nothing could be done about, so we got on with it. Some of the main downs were due to my naivety, in thinking some facilities (like cash paying taxis from SLC airport; I persuaded a friendly Uber driver to accept cash!) were what I was used to, and that I wouldn't have to re-enter security when changing planes from LHR to SLC, at PHX, even though I was on a connecting, booked, flight, and my baggage had already been labelled for both airports appropriately, at LHR. Altogether, a very good, and memorable holiday, where I visited some parts of the Parks that I visited before, but saw many more, and different sights in them.
Spectacular Alaska!
I enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to see Alaska.
Nature's Best: Alaska
Our Tour guide, Wayne, was fantastic! He went above and beyond; to make sure we were comfortable on the bus and on the tours! He also got us as close as he could when there were animal sightings! Lane, our driver, was also an excellent driver; and he kept us safe on the narrow and winding Mountain roads! Hats off to these two!
American Parks Trail (Classic, End Rapid City, 9 Days)
Reviews of usa tours for seniors.
We thoroughly enjoyed the 7-day tour of the US southwest . We love the destinations included in the tour, every place we visited is on our bucket list. I wanted to pinch myself every day that I visited those iconic and beautiful places as shown in my photos below. We enjoyed all the extra, optional experiences that were suggested by the tour guide. They added more fun to the tour. The Hummer tour in Moab, Utah was one of the optional experiences and it was a blast! Not only it’s fun, you get to see the amazing scenery during the sunset. One previous review mentioned he or she was forced to participate in the Navajo taco dinner in Monument Valley. That comment is not true. You have a choice not to do that and the guide can make a different arrangement for you. The optional Navajo taco dinner is one of the highlights of the tour that we will remember for a long time. It would be a shame not to have this cultural experience when you get to meet Navajo people when you are in the Navajo Nation! Our tour guide, John did a fantastic job. He was full of enthusiasm and energy. He kept the tour well organized and always provided information we needed. We highly recommend the tour.
Outstanding tour and tour guide. The trip was well organized, with half of the guests camping and half of the guests lodging. John, our tour guide, kept us informed and entertained us during the entire trip. Only criticism is that we had the same lunch just about every day. Highly recommend.
Everything was great organized, our CEO Megan was so kind and well prepared.

How to use your AARP discount on travel
When AARP — the 38-million-strong organization for people over 50 — starts contacting you about becoming a member, you may freak out. My first reaction was, "I am not that old."
But after I got over my initial consternation, I realized that becoming an AARP member might open up a treasure trove of travel savings for me, including some that are always available and others that come and go periodically.
And it's a small investment: Either pay $12 a year for a multiyear membership with automatic renewal or $16 if you rejoin annually.
"One of the strengths of the AARP program is it's always on and always available," said Matthew Phillips, director of travel for the membership organization. "Another strength is there's the AARP discount and AARP member rate, and you also get those awards points with the programs you are enrolled in."
Members have access to discounts and member-specific deals at more than 10 hotel chains and their brands. There are also exclusive AARP deals for Avis Budget Group car rentals and through a cobranded AARP Travel Center powered by the Expedia portal.
Here are all the ways that you can use AARP discounts on travel, including a few you might not know about.
AARP travel deals
Hotel stays.
Hotel savings for AARP members are between 5% and 10% off the best available rate. Some hotels offer additional perks, too, such as a late checkout at 2 p.m., when available. The ongoing travel discounts are clearly spelled out on the AARP travel benefits website .
Members can click through to the AARP Expedia booking portal or link directly to the booking sites of select providers.
With an AARP membership, you can score discounts for brands in the portfolios of companies such as Hilton and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts . Wyndham, for example, offers up to 10% off, plus a late checkout when available. When you click on the AARP rate during the booking process, you should be able to see the terms, conditions and benefits.
The savings are 5% or more off stays at Best Western Hotels & Resorts and up to 10% off Choice Hotels , whether booked through the AARP Expedia portal or directly with the brands. AARP members also save 10% on stays with budget brands Motel 6 and Red Roof Inn.
At some point during the booking process, you may be asked for your AARP membership number. In some cases, you will need to show your membership card at check-in at the hotel.
Airline tickets
This may come as a surprise, but AARP has a long-standing relationship with British Airways .
The deal is for $65 off World Traveller (standard economy) and World Traveller Plus (premium economy) fares, as well as $200 off Club World (business class) fares. The discount does not apply to basic economy fares.
The savings offer applies to round-trip transatlantic tickets purchased online. Connections to more than 130 destinations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa are available.
With the offer, you can collect British Airways Executive Club Avios based on the fare booked.
Car rentals
AARP's car rental partnership with Avis and Budget gives members discounts of up to 30% on base-rate rentals when you pay in advance. Other perks from the Avis and Budget brands include an upgrade on a booking for a compact through full-size car, based on availability, and you can add an additional driver at no cost. There's also a 5%-off deal on Payless rentals.
As with hotels, you may need to show your membership card at the car rental counter.
Other AARP deals
Through the Expedia portal, AARP members booking cruises have access to whatever sale fares are being offered, plus an onboard spending credit of up to $100 you can use for drinks, massages or other purchases on the ship, according to Phillips. Featured cruise companies include Princess Cruises and Holland America Line .
AARP members booking vacation packages with flights and hotels or rental cars on the Expedia portal receive the bonus of a $50 prepaid Visa card.
Three escorted and guided tour companies — Collette, Grand European Travel and Vacations By Rail — also offer discounts to AARP members.
Additionally, there's a discount on airport parking — 12% with ParkRideFly — available at nearly 40 airports throughout the U.S. Popular locations include New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Midway International Airport (MDW).
Exclusive AARP offers
In addition to the anytime deals, there are other targeted sales of travel products. For example, if a car rental company is having a sale open to the general public on SUVs, there may be an added offer exclusive to AARP members.
Plus, AARP members receive the organization's magazine and printed bulletin, both of which include some travel content, and can sign up for various newsletters like "Hot Deals," which has limited-time offers in a number of areas, such as dining and insurance products — and sometimes travel.
How to become an AARP member
While AARP is focused on people over 50, there is no minimum age to join. Anyone of any age can take advantage of the travel offers and the discounts on a lot of other products.
AARP provides access to 200-plus benefits, according to the company. While most are available to any member, products that are age-restricted by vendors, such as certain insurance products, are only available to members who are at least 50 years old.
A catch for anyone younger than 50 is that everything AARP does is geared and heavily marketed toward those age 50 and up. As such, you'll get pitches that may be irrelevant to your age group.
If you decide to enroll, it's fast and easy to sign up on the AARP website .
Bottom line
Is an AARP membership worth It?
The low cost of joining AARP makes it a good bet for all ages, even if you only take advantage of the travel discounts. You'll get an immediate return on your $16 membership investment with just one car rental or hotel stay.
In addition to multiple travel benefits, including hotel, car rental and airline discounts, you can take advantage of dining discounts at over a half-dozen brands — why not save 10% off your oysters, steak and truffle fries at McCormick & Schmick's?
Ultimately, for a small annual investment, your wallet will thank you.

What travelers are saying
"We joined the Intrepid “Real Italy Food Tour” and enjoyed it thoroughly. Our tour guide, Micol, was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of good information. It seems Micol knew many of the staff of the venues we visited, including the pasta making class we attended. Our group of 11 travelers was extremely compatible, which greatly added to the fun and enjoyment."

"Best vacation so far!! Loved everything, especially highly professional team, that organised the whole trip super safe and on a highest level, the crew that does the cleaning and provides the food literally 24/7, the expedition team was super and the program, lectures, communication - everything couldn’t be better. I miss the cruise! And the best part of course the wild nature, animals. It’s a pity there are strict rules nowadays due to the flu and we couldn’t get closer, but it’s the right thing to protect the nature. Will be back for sure!"

"I have been to Tanzania one other time so I am confident in saying that based on my two experiences, Lights on Africa by FAR EXCEEDED my known expectations. Just WOW, from the minute I arrived to the minute I left, well I did not want to leave. Peniel greeted my Group and made us feel so welcomed. The accommodations were SO fantastic, including the food :) but I must say that my Driver; Ray made my trip incredibly memorable. His many years of working in tourism contributed to the wealth of knowledge Ray has for the hidden trails in each park! Not just main roads but what tree is known for lions. Where the likelihood of seeing a Cheetah and where to find them! Ray knows the terrain of each park, has fantastic knowledge of ALL the animals including birds. We were the same 6 people in his Jeep the entire time, we asked a LOT of questions. Every one was answered thoughtfully, and gave us a sense of 'all knowing' and his mechanical ability!!!!! The terrain is oftentimes deep mud, sandy, water, very rugged and touch but Ray knew which way to steer and how to mitigate our ride, not to mention being the AWESOME DRIVER he is, he always (ALWAYS) stopped to help pull another driver out. I cannot say enough kind words or express gratitude to everyone at Lights on Africa, I felt like I was leaving family when the last wave was waved. I can only look forward to a third time to your beautiful country and know who I will be using; LIGHTS ON AFRICA. Thank you, thank you, thank you Kate"

"I recently returned from the Costa Rican wildlife safari. I was a bit concerned with Covid however every place was extremely clean and had places for you to wash your hands before you even walked in. This was a trip I was actually supposed to go on in 2020 however it was postponed, waiting so long the expectations were high. I was definitely not disappointed! Patricia our guide was absolutely wonderful, extremely knowledgeable and cater to our every need. I would highly recommend this vacation. Also everyone that I met in the community was extremely gracious and kind. The majority of these people work on tourism and unfortunately in the last year have not had any. Booking this trip would not only be an amazing adventure for you but it would also be amazing for the people in the community"

Great Dog Breeds for Grownups: A Guide to Choosing a Pup to Match Your Personality
Whether you’re a homebody or traveling in retirement, there’s a good canine companion for you.
Jennifer Ortiz,
Dogs are cute, cuddly and good for your physical and mental health . They bring companionship, boost your daily step count and time outside, and can get you interacting with other dog lovers, says Lorraine Rhoads, director of health and safety at Dogtopia, a provider of dog day care, boarding and grooming services throughout North America.
For the 11.1 percent of adults 65 and older living alone, or for those who just would like a fur baby to have around , getting a dog may be a good idea. But there are many lifestyle factors to consider before jumping into dog ownership with both feet (and all paws).

Rhoads says the financial commitment (food, vet visits, grooming), time commitment (longevity, walks, playtime, vet visits) and both the human’s and the dog’s energy levels are important to keep top of mind.
“I think that you have to match the personality of the pet to the personality of the person. I think that’s first and foremost,” says Dr. Carol Osborne, a veterinarian at Chagrin Falls Veterinary Center & Pet Clinic in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Just like humans, every pup has its own unique personality, but there are generalities that can be made about different breeds. The American Kennel Club recognizes 201 different breeds and divides them among seven categories based on the function they were bred to perform, says Jerry Klein, AKC’s chief veterinary officer. For example, sporting dogs are typically athletic and love to play, while hounds are focused, stubborn and loyal, and herding dogs love having a job to do, expands Klein. Whatever your lifestyle and abilities look like at 50 and older – whether you’re planning to travel extensively in retirement or want to spend your golden years with your toes in the sand – there’s a breed or a mix of breeds that would suit your preferences. Here’s a guide to matching your personality to a pup.
For the homebody
If you’re more of an indoorsy grownup who values time spent at home – say, snuggling with a book or watching a movie on the couch – Rhoads suggests a cocker spaniel. She describes cocker spaniels as naturally gentle and sweet (but they do have long coats that require regular grooming). The Cavalier King Charles spaniel is also a good option, she says; they are a toy breed that can range from small to medium size, and they have fewer grooming needs than the cocker spaniel. Rhoads says they require low exercise and are “happy to cuddle for a big portion of the day.”
Osborne recommends other dogs with shorter coats: French bulldogs or Boston terriers. If you live in a climate that can get hot, be sure to keep in mind that flat-faced breeds (like pugs and bulldogs, including French bulldogs) can have compromised respiratory systems, which means they may encounter breathing issues in the heat.
For the outdoorsy grownup
If you like to hike, go on long walks, tend to your garden and spend as much time outside as you can, Osborne recommends any of the retriever types – golden retrievers or Labradors. Rhoads concurs but also would add greyhounds to the mix.
Within those breeds, you’ll find varying energy levels, but all three breeds love spending time outdoors. While Rhoads admits that a greyhound may seem counterintuitive for a grownup “because you think they’re just going to be runners, and some of them maybe have a tendency to have a high prey drive,” she says they are also gentle, affectionate dogs that are the perfect garden companion.

For retirees who love to travel
For the jet-setters who want an adaptable (portable) companion, Rhoads recommends smaller dogs who are well-trained, friendly and social (you may encounter fellow travelers who want to pet them).
“If travel is definitely on the list of your lifestyle, I would consider smaller breeds that are just easier for you to pick up and go,” says Rhoads, adding that more hotels are becoming dog-friendly , but both hotels and airlines may have restrictions on pet size.

Osborne says most dogs are willing to do anything and everything they can to please their owner – even when traveling – so most dogs are fine to travel with you. But there are some breeds that will be particularly difficult on the road — especially “nervous, high-strung breeds” like vizslas, salukis and some sighthounds.
The city fashionista
If you’ve downsized your home, perhaps in the city, Rhoads suggests shih tzus, Maltese and bichon frises. All three breeds are small and have low energy that won’t require a lot of play within a small home. But do note that all three have frequent grooming needs.
Osborne says poodles are also very popular among the fashionable set over 50 “because they’re big and stylish” (but they also require a lot of grooming). While standard poodles are high energy, their smaller counterparts, toy poodles, are just as stylish and have lower energy — and a better fit for a small space. The experts say these polished pooches need a lot of regular grooming and upkeep; and as with any high-fashion item, you’ll want to consider the cost.
For snowbirds
For retirees fleeing frigid temperatures, Osborne recommends short-coated breeds. “The Labrador retriever is appealing to just about anyone, anywhere,” she says, adding that they have medium exercise requirements and love the water, as do golden retrievers.
While bulldogs and other short-legged, short-coated dogs are generally great choices for older adults, Osborne says it’s important to note that breeds with short legs aren’t naturally swimmers — and hotter climates might be difficult on their breathing if they’re outside for too long.

Other factors to consider
Dog coats and climate : “In general, when it comes to cost, the bigger the pet and the longer the hair, the more it’s going to cost,” says Osborne about grooming costs. It’s important to consider a dog’s coat and where you live.
For example, she says, “If you live in Alaska, you wouldn’t want to get a Mexican hairless – the little guy would be freezing all the time. If you live in Florida, a hot, humid climate, especially by water, you wouldn’t want to get a husky or a malamute. A breed that has long hair doesn’t do well with heat and humidity, and doesn’t care for the water.”
Age — an older dog can be a great fit for grownups: Osborne says adopting a senior dog (age 7 and older) may be a great move for older adults, since puppies may be a lot of work. She says senior dogs, many of which are surrendered to shelters and rescues “for the wrong reasons,” are typically already house-trained, spayed or neutered, and have many of the vaccines that are necessary to get as a puppy.
“You’d be surprised how many of these older dogs in shelters … it’s kind of like they know that you gave them a second chance,” says Osborne. “In many cases, those can be just the best dogs you could even ask for.”
Commitment is long term: Osborne says that grownups should also consider that a dog is a lifelong commitment. A dog’s lifespan varies by breed and size; smaller dogs can live to around 15 or more years, while larger dogs live up to 13, according to Klein. Much like humans, dogs are highly social creatures and shouldn’t be left alone for long periods of time, says Rhoads.
“If you find that there’s time in your life and space in your life, bringing a dog into that is so recommended,” she says. “Older adults often live alone or face some levels of loneliness. Companionship makes a big difference.”
Where you should get your dog: If you’re ready to jump in and find your perfect companion, and you definitely want a particular purebred dog, check the breed’s national, or parent, breed club, suggests Klein.
“Within each of these parent club’s websites should be a list of dedicated, responsible breeders in various parts of the country,” he adds, noting that many of these clubs have organizations that rescue purebreds from shelters around the country.
Osborne says you shouldn’t overlook shelters and rescues, advising it might even be your first stop. They sometimes have purebred dogs that have been surrendered by families who can no longer care for them. They also are likely to have mixed-breed dogs, which Osborne says sometimes inherit the best traits of all their breed mixes.
Most shelters and rescues offer trial periods with the pet – where potential owners can see if a dog is a good fit for their family and lifestyle. If a shelter dog is a good fit, the adoption fees will certainly be lower than the price tag from a breeder.
Whatever route you take, it’s important to do your research and be very mindful about potential pet scams .
