Dreaming about traveling here's what it means, according to experts.

Sarah Regan

When it comes to dream interpretation, so much of it depends on the context and finer details of the dream. To dream about traveling is no exception, with a myriad of variations that can change the meaning of the dream . So, we asked experts about a few of their top interpretations for travel dreams—here's what they had to say.

Dream interpretation.

Before diving in, it's worth noting that any scientific validity to dream interpretation is sparse. Generally, dreams are thought of as a means of memory consolidation and potentially even "predicting" the future (i.e., our brains running through potential scenarios that could happen).

Nevertheless, we've all had dreams that seemed a bit too relevant to our waking lives, raising the question, What was that dream trying to tell me? Only you can truly understand what the symbols in your dreams mean to you, but there are still some common tropes in dreams that interpreters take to have specific meanings.

7 reasons you're dreaming about traveling:

You're craving freedom..

According to dream expert  Leslie Ellis, Ph.D., dreaming about travel can indicate that you're on a quest for freedom. "In this pandemic era where travel has been so restricted, travel dreams could be some form of vicarious way of gaining freedom of movement," she says, adding, "Freud was not entirely wrong about dreams being a form of wish fulfillment, at least some of the time."

You're experiencing some kind of movement in your life.

Along with a craving for freedom, travel dreams can also suggest there's some sort of movement or momentum happening in your life. "Traveling usually represents forward movement—progress in some area," notes professional dream interpreter  Lauri Loewenberg . And as Ellis adds, this "movement" could be personal or professional, as well as actual geographical movement.

You feel in control.

If you're traveling in a vehicle in your dream and it's running smoothly, Loewenberg tells mbg that can mean you feel in control of some aspect of your life. "You want to be driving the car, for example, because that's letting you know that whatever issue this dream is commenting on, you're in control of it," she explains.

You feel out of control.

On the other hand, Loewenberg says, if the car is having some hiccups, such as malfunctioning brakes, "that's a good indication that you're having a hard time getting something started in your real life, or you don't have a good handle on whatever path of progression this is connected to."

She adds that if you're driving a car in your dream and get into an accident, this can mean you're experiencing a sort of emotional or energy crash in your life.

You're experiencing some sort of ending.

Crashes or accidents in travel dreams can also mean something is on the verge of coming to an end in your life (or already has), Loewenberg notes.

The theme of endings existing within travel dreams can also relate to life stages and death, Ellis explains. "They can, at the far end of the journey, indicate preparation for death. There are many accounts of dreams easing people into the final stages of their life , preparing them in ways that tend to be calming and spiritual," she notes.

You're advancing in your career (or thinking about it).

According to Loewenberg, dreams about traveling in a plane , more often than not, are related to your career path, "because the plane takes off and we want our careers to take off and reach new levels." Planes can also represent your spiritual or religious path , she adds.

You're searching for something.

And lastly, depending on your destination, travel dreams can mean you're looking for something in your life. "If your destination is a beach, for example, that means you're trying to reach a place in your life where you are having peace of mind," Loewenberg explains. Or maybe you're traveling to a hospital, which would indicate you're on a healing path, she adds.

Interpretations based on travel companions:

Family members..

With the previous interpretations in mind, it's also important to consider who's accompanying you in the dream. In the case of family members, Ellis says, this could relate to feeling of moving on, or moving forward, as it relates to the family members in the dream.

A romantic partner.

Loewenberg says dreaming about traveling with a partner can offer good insight into how the relationship is going and how you both are reacting within the relationship. "Pay attention to who's behind the wheel and how well the vehicle is moving forward," she suggests, for example.

If you're on a boat, she adds they often represent our relationships. (Relation-"ship," get it?) "A ship or a boat will be commenting on a relationship more than any other vehicle because it travels on water, and water tends to represent the emotional self," Loewenberg explains.

In that case, are you on an extravagant cruise liner that's sailing smoothly? Or are you in a broken-down boat that's sinking fast ? You can guess which one indicates a relationship is heading south.

Co-workers.

If you're dreaming about work colleagues, Ellis says this situates the dream story in the world of work. "Again, it can be telling to look at the mode of travel, ease of transport, and nature of the destination," she notes. Ask yourself if you're getting to where you want to go. "This can be a big life question. Are the people you are with helping or hindering your progress?" Ellis adds.

Traveling solo.

Of course, there's a chance you'll be traveling solo in your dream, as well. Loewenberg says a common vehicle in travel dreams is a bike or motorcycle, which are, of course, single-passenger vehicles. This would be a dream about a path you are on alone that doesn't affect anyone else, she explains.

"You also have to have good balance to operate a bicycle or a motorcycle, so take a good look at your emotional balance or anything you're trying to balance in your life," Ellis adds.

The bottom line.

Dreaming about travel isn't uncommon—and interpreting these dreams always comes down to their context. With these potential interpretations at the ready, you're all set to open your mind to the world of your travel dreams—and consider how they relate to your reality.

Dreaming is a deeply meaningful act that can allow you to develop insight into your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. [1] X Research source Dreams can help you sort through life's difficulties and challenges, especially if you take the time to reflect upon their significance. [2] X Research source While dream interpretation is not an exact science, it might allow you to consider your thoughts and experiences in a new light or even help you make a difficult decision. If your dream involves a journey, think about the journey of your own life and where you want it to lead.

Recording and Remembering Your Dreams

Step 1 Keep a dream journal.

  • Keep a journal, working pen, and soft lamp next to your bed to make it easier to write dreams down in the middle of the night.

Step 2 Write in your dream journal every morning.

  • It is best for you to write your dreams down immediately after waking up to make sure that your conscious mind does not rewrite or alter the plot of the dream. [5] X Research source

Step 3 Write down details of your journey dream.

  • People you met in the dream
  • How you felt at each stage in the dream
  • The setting of the dream
  • Your physical manifestation in the dream--what did you look like? What were you wearing?
  • The plot of the dream
  • Your mode of transportation in the dream
  • The origin and destination of your dream journey
  • The motivation for your dream journey

Step 4 Look for recurring patterns over the long term.

  • Pay attention to subtle changes in your dreams over time. They might tell you whether you are growing and changing in important ways. [9] X Research source

Interpreting Important Journey Dream Symbols

Step 1 Consider the mode of transportation.

  • The state of your vehicle might make a difference to the interpretation of the dream as well. A decrepit vehicle might indicate uncertainty or low self-esteem, for example. Think about whether your mode of transit reminds you of yourself or of anything important in your life. [12] X Research source

Step 2 Assess the pathway of your dream.

  • If your path involves a fork or a crossroads, that can mean that you have to face a decision that has several facets. Each probably has good and bad aspects and only you can weigh the consequences to see where the decision might lead you. [14] X Research source

Step 3 Note your feelings about the destination.

  • Some dreams end in dead-ends instead of arriving at your destination. This suggests that the path you chose is not leading you where you want to be. Consider whether any aspect of your life is unsatisfying.
  • Many dream journeys do not even have a destination, which indicates that you are more concerned with the process of the journey itself than your ultimate goals in life.

Step 4 Reflect on the scenery.

  • If you do not recall the scenery or landscape around you, that may indicate that you are more concerned with the end goal than you are with the journey to get there.

Step 5 Ask yourself whether you got lost or delayed in your dream.

Reflecting on Your Life

Step 1 Tell yourself that your dreams are unique.

  • For example, flying dreams generally indicate freedom. However, if you felt anxious or claustrophobic during your flying dream, then pay more attention to your feelings than an entry in a dream dictionary. [22] X Research source

Step 2 Identify symbols of personal importance.

  • For example, your dream journey might take you past the restaurant where you ate lunch yesterday. This is likely day residue and not an important symbol to interpret.

Step 6 Think about upcoming physical and metaphorical journeys.

  • One way to help determine these questions is to think about other parts of your life that inspire the same emotions you felt in your dream. If you felt free and relaxed during your dream journey, think about other parts of your life that make you feel free and relaxed. Use this as a key to unlock the deeper meaning of your dream. [29] X Research source

Step 8 Consider obstacles you face in your life journey.

Expert Q&A

Dreams About Travelling

dream of journey

Dreams about travelling often reveal a need to change the pace of your life, you fancy a break from your routine, or you want to explore somewhere completely different, and get out of your comfort zone. Travelling dreams often point to an impending transformation, a big change in your life, or from within.

There’s nothing quite like packing for a holiday. You’re nervous, excited, and worried about how everything will fit, how your journey will go, and what you will have forgotten when you get there. We rarely travel to places in dreams, our subconscious tends to throw us into the middle of a new journey without any preamble. So if you do dream of the journey to somewhere, this is a dream that you should pay attention to. Everything in your dream tends to be symbolic of something – it’s a projection of you, after all, and dreaming of travelling indicates an impending change, or a need for one.

There are many types of dreams where you travel, even if you only see your possessions that you take when you travel in waking life, or if you dream of the whole journey from start to finish. Your dream of travelling can reflect your waking life, if you feel lost in your dream, there’s part of your life that needs some attention, and if you feel excited about a new adventure, you’re ready for what life might throw at you in the near future.

Travelling in a dream relates to a spiritual or inner journey in waking life, where you have reconnected with yourself, an old connection with someone else, or you’ve discovered a new talent which will lead to a new chapter in your life. If you dream of carrying too many bags, or a bag is weighing you down, and you can’t move, this reflects how you’ve been overthinking or struggling to come to terms with something. You need to let some things go.

What does Travelling Mean in a Dream?

Dreams of travel essentially denote your current state of mind when it comes to where you are in life. You may be excited to move forward, and you’re looking for every new opportunity, or you’re more apprehensive, you might not want to know what the future holds, and you feel lost. A journey in a dream represents the beginning of change, a shift in ideas, mentality, or your approach to life. If you dream of travelling somewhere specific, this reflects your state in waking life and the path you’re currently on, and how these might influence your decisions in the future. Dreaming of losing your way mirrors your feelings in waking life, a sense of lost purpose, or wanting to escape your responsibilities and routine. Dreaming of travelling in a car (see also Driving Dream Symbolism ) represents your life journey.

Dreaming of carrying too many bags indicates you’re focusing on the past and the negative things that happened to you. If you have no luggage in this dream, you want to shed your ties, and you’ll change your outlook of life and your approach. If you dream of buying travel tickets , this suggests the future will allow you to open up a little more, you’ll feel free enough to try new things and really explore what gives you meaning or speaks to your soul.

What does Travelling Abroad in a Dream Signify?

Dreaming of going on a journey outside the country you live in reflects your desire to escape. Your responsibilities are too much right now, other people’s expectations are overshadowing what you think you’re capable of, and you want to drop everything and start somewhere else, where no one knows you. This dream is calling you to change something in your life – you’re already at the end of your tether, so why not try something new? Reconnect with nature, with who you are, who you want to be, and broaden your horizons. Be open to new adventures. Dreaming of travelling abroad signifies your desire to connect with people, your curious nature, and your desire to experience other ways of life and cultures.

What does it Mean to Dream of Travelling Somewhere Specific?

Dreaming of travelling somewhere specific – either somewhere you recognize or not – is always an interesting dream, and it indicates you need to change your life in order to get what you want. There may be nothing “wrong” with the life you’re living at the moment, but it doesn’t match your life goals, or measure up to the picture you have in your head. Where you end up in this dream is also significant. If you dream of being in a hot country, you need to work on your motivation in order to achieve what you want out of life. If you dream of travelling somewhere freezing or inhospitable, this suggests something is holding you back in waking life. Dreaming of a European country points to future happiness. Dreaming of being in Africa indicates a desire to revisit your roots, a desire to spiritually connect with others, and reconnect with yourself. Dreaming of a jungle or a rainforest indicates you have a lot of questions, and you don’t know where to turn for answers, but everything will become clear soon. You feel there’s something missing from your life.

What Does it Mean to Dream of Revisiting a Place You’ve Been Before?

Dreaming of being in or travelling to somewhere you’ve been before in waking life represents your wish to return. It was a relaxing or fun time in your life, and it can indicate you long for something similar now. Alternatively, something in waking life is bringing up similar feelings, so your subconscious has let the memory resurface, so you can experience it again. Dreaming of somewhere you have been before can signify you need to be more honest or more open with the people in your life. You long for connection, but not the vulnerability that it sometimes requires.

What does it Mean to Dream of Travelling to an Unfamiliar Place?

dream of journey

Dreaming of travelling to somewhere you’ve never been suggests you need a change from your routine. It’s become too rigid, and you’re starting to feel a bit suffocated. It can reflect frustration in your waking life. You’ve finally achieved something you’ve always wanted, but now that you’re there, it isn’t everything you dreamed of. Now, you don’t know where to turn, or what to do next, and this unfamiliar territory in your dream reflects this. It would be easy to overthink things in this position, to cling to what’s familiar because the chance you took didn’t work out the way you hoped it would. Work toward something else, and keep moving forward. Not reaching this particular goal or not being fulfilled by it will give a chance for other things to happen.

If you dreamed of climbing a mountain, you want a period of calm and peace to be able to reflect, or to do some introspection away from your current problems. Your subconscious is telling you to take some time for yourself, to recharge. Dreaming of being in a country you don’t recognize – or one that doesn’t exist in waking life – reflects a desire to find your feet quickly in problems you didn’t see coming. You want to be ready for anything, or feel that you can handle any problem that comes your way. This dream also indicates that you’ll encounter a lot of issues soon, and while you won’t be grateful for them at the time, they will outline exactly what you’re capable of, and how far you can go when you push yourself. If you dream of crossing border security in a country you don’t know or have never visited, you’ll discover a lot of unused potential in yourself soon, and you’ll soon have cause to use it.

What does it Signify to Dream of Local People in a Foreign Country?

Dreaming of seeing local people while you were in a foreign land represents the desire to fit in somewhere new, or how you desire change, but you don’t want the potential isolation or the awkwardness of finding new people that can come with it. You want to be able to trust people more than you do in waking life, and this dream points to a need to be more open with others. If you spoke the language you heard in this dream, you’ll need to rely on the people close to you in order to move forward. If you dream of being scammed or even mugged in an unfamiliar place, you feel vulnerable in waking life, or you fear someone will take advantage of you. If you dreamed of going on a generic tour, and you went on to meet locals and had adventures with them, this reflects the desire for something that feels authentic or real in waking life, not something that feels forced.

What does it Mean to Dream of Losing Money or Possessions in a Foreign Country?

This is a nightmare in waking life, let alone a dream. Losing something in an unfamiliar place, whether that’s your sense of direction, your passport, your money, or even a person, is beyond stressful. This dream is trying to draw your attention to your ability to adapt when your resources or your sense of security is threatened. Losing possessions in a dream can point to the importance of planning, and checking each part is still valid on every step of a journey. If this dream was particularly anxiety-inducing, and you woke up nervous, you feel something in waking life is going terribly wrong, something that’s entirely out of your control. If your passport, papers, or cash were stolen or missing in this dream, you will suffer a blow to your identity soon. You may question what exactly makes you who you are, or you’ll want to change what you believe.

What does a Dream of Carrying Too Much Luggage Suggest?

In dream symbolism, luggage represents “emotional baggage”, or those issues that you carry with you wherever you go. Dreaming of carrying too many bags indicates that you’re overthinking the present, and making connections to the past that simply aren’t there. Something is challenging you, or you’re facing a lot of issues and the anxiety is too much. If you have too many belongings in this dream, in waking life you’re trying to surround yourself with as much familiarity and “safe” things as possible, though this won’t help you grow. You need to stop holding onto your worries or negative thoughts so much. Put them down for a minute, and focus on your breathing. See if you can feel any freer. Now imagine how you would feel if that was how the rest of your life felt. Better?

What does it Mean to Lose Your Passport in a Dream?

This is a common dream, especially if you’re expecting to travel soon. Dreaming of losing your passport signifies a period in your life when you’ll question who you are, and maybe that’s changed since you last looked. Passports or driver’s licenses in dreams relate to your identity, and how much a situation can change it, such as the end of a relationship or the start of a new hobby, a job, or a new chapter in your life. Losing your passport in a dream (see also Search Dream Symbolism ) can also suggest you’re ready for a new adventure, so long as you let go of the past and anything negative you’re carrying around with you. This dream also suggests you’re about to let go of something that’s been limiting your potential, which could be another person, a fear of change, or trying to hold onto the present as it is.

What does a Dream of Obstacles Stopping You from Travelling Mean?

Dreaming of something stopping you from travelling, such as a delay, an incident at a border, or missing your connection signifies your wish for a clearer direction in life. You want things to be simpler, to know exactly where you’re headed. This dream is also your subconscious drawing your attention to your overall approach to life. If you think positively, you’re more likely to come to a solution quicker, when you believe you can get through the tough times. You’re reminding yourself that there is good in the future, and you’re capable of solving anything you put your mind to.

What does it Mean to Dream of Travelling by Car?

Dreaming of driving along an open road that stretches beyond where your eye can see indicates a wish to move forward, or to get away from your current situation. If you dream of a car with its roof down, you’re enjoying a stronger sense of who you are. Driving along the coast in your dream indicates a need to focus on where you’ve come from, and exactly how far you’ve gotten. Dreaming of travelling in a car essentially suggests self-reliance (see also What Do Cars Represent In Dreams? ), strength, and a better sense of your own identity in the future.

The dream symbol of a car (see also Motorbike Dream Meaning ) relates to your own identity, capability, and spirituality. In this dream, you’re not fighting change, but you’re adapting to the situation as it unfolds, and you’re not thinking too much – as is the nature of a dream, and maybe you need to practice this more in waking life. If you dream of being a passenger in the car, this can point to being too trusting, or letting someone else take control of your life. Undertaking a road trip in a dream where you don’t drive indicates that you are letting someone else “take the driver’s seat” in your life. You’ve handed over your control, whether you realize it or not, and it might be time to take that back. Alternatively, you cannot be sure of someone’s intentions, what they are saying, or how they’re saying it doesn’t ring true. If you dream of a holiday in a camper van or in a converted van, this indicates that you’ll better yourself through your own hard work.

What does a Dream of Travelling Through a Lavish Neighborhood Mean?

Dreaming of travelling through a lavish or affluent neighborhood represents your material desires, how you want to appear successful – whatever that means to you – but not letting these desires rule your personality or your life. This dream also embodies your clever gaze and how one look can inform you well enough to make a decision. Dreaming of travelling through a well-off area indicates future success in your professional life, and an uptick in your finances. If you dream of a large mansion or a house, this represents your ideals, and moving toward starting a big commitment.

What does it Mean to Dream of Other People Travelling?

Dreaming of other people travelling suggests you’ve overlooked something, or you need to be more perceptive about other people’s behavior. Dreaming of seeing people travel through a liminal space, such as an airport or a station, suggests that you need to look at the small details, as there may be something important within. You might need to switch tactics when it comes to trying to solve a problem.

What does a Dream of Travelling by Bus or Train Mean?

Travelling on a bus in a dream (see also What Does A City Bus Mean In Dreams? ) indicates what leads you to the decisions you make, the ideals behind them. Do you make certain decisions in order to fit in, or to project a certain image of yourself? Are you doing things because you want to, or because you have to? How much of a balance is there between the two, and can you adjust it? Dreaming of travelling by bus could just be a reflection of waking life, if you use public transport regularly.

If you dream of travelling by train (see also Train Dream Meaning ), this is symbolic of your life’s path. It’s a sign you’re headed the right way, and you soon get to where you need to be in order to push forward. Dreaming of travelling by train can also indicate that you’re worrying too much. It might never happen.

What does a Dream of Preparing to Go Abroad Suggest?

Dreaming of packing your bags for a trip or otherwise getting ready to travel to another country indicates being halfway through a spiritual transformation. You’re getting ready for a big change in your life, and you’re taking the time now to rest in order to adapt to new situations or changes in your outlook. Dreaming of planning to go abroad signifies now is the time (see also: What Does Time Travel Mean In A Dream? ) to make changes, and to better yourself. You have the energy and the motivation to transform your life, so what more are you waiting for?

What does a Dream of a Road Mean?

Seeing a road in a dream reflects your path in life. Picture it in your mind. Was the road in your dream winding, or straight? Smooth? Rough? Was it busy or deserted? You’re reflecting on where you are in life, and where you think life might take you next. A rough road in a dream indicates the uncertainty that a fresh start brings, and a windy path suggests unpredictability.

What does a Dream of Travelling By Plane Mean?

dream of journey

Dreaming of travelling by air reflects big aspirations or lofty goals, which you’ve set your sights on regardless of the difficulty you might face, as you have a good idea of how to handle these. If you dream of flying in a plane, this indicates how you’re trying to improve your life, and you’ll move towards a more positive chapter. Flying in a dream without any equipment indicates that you’ll soon enjoy a new beginning, where there will be a lot of novelty.

What does it Mean to Dream of Being a Tourist?

Dreaming of being a tourist indicates you’re doing some soul-searching right now, or you’re being guided along the right path. Keep going as you are, and you’re sure to discover something great.

What does it Mean to Dream of Travelling by UFO?

This is an interesting one! Dreaming of travelling by UFO signifies that you want something to happen without your involvement, but that will be impossible. You need to face the risk of something going wrong, in order to get what you want. You need to do some reflecting and work out exactly what it is you want, and why, and if it’s worth the journey. This dream can also suggest there are issues in your life that you’re trying to fix, but you can’t fix everything.

What does Dreaming of a US Visa Denote?

Dreaming of a USA visa or an official document represents your identity and your ideals, and how you need to plan in order to reach these goals.

What does Missing a Connection in a Dream Mean?

Dreaming of missing a connection while travelling suggests a fear of change. You like things as they are, but you won’t grow as a person if you cling to the familiar all the time.

What does Getting on the Wrong Train, Bus, or Plane Suggest in a Dream?

Dreaming of finding yourself on the wrong transport indicates that you’re anxious about the future, and you’re not entirely sure what you want. Take a minute to reconnect with the present moment. You can figure out the rest in time.

What does a Disaster in a Dream of Travelling Mean?

Dreaming of being swept up in a disaster (see also disaster dream meaning ) while traveling suggests you’ll suffer failure soon, but now you know about it, you’ll be able to watch for it. This dream can also indicate that you have a chronic fear of failure, but it’s a big part of how we learn.

What does Travelling by Ship Mean in a Dream?

Dreaming of travelling by ship indicates that you have a long journey ahead, but you know you can accomplish your goals. It takes the right planning, mindset, and determination, but you’ll get there.

Dreams about traveling – what do they mean? (Dream interpretation travel)

dream of journey

To be traveling in a dream is something a lot of people dream about. And no wonder, because “travel dreams” are often about our own journey of life – our movement forwards (or backwards) in life, that is . The following describes various aspects of what it means to travel in dreams.

To be traveling in a dream as a symbol of movement in life/journey of life. When seeing yourself traveling in a dream, either by car, by train, by ferry, etc., well, then it is usually about your own journey in life – the inner (and outer) development you are going through. Which mode of transport you use can also be of significance – see for example the blog posts about driving a car and riding a bus . The interesting thing, then, is what you experience on these night-time travels; is there something which prevents you from getting there? Are you struggling to make it in time (see the blog post about being late )? And where are you actually going?

A classic theme in travel dreams is that you are carrying a lot or too much (heavy) luggage, making it difficult or maybe even impossible for you to catch the bus, train, ferry, plane or whatever it may be in your dream. The main question for the dreamer could then be; is something we are carrying with us in our life story somehow pinning us down in our current situation, and making it difficult for us to move on before we let it go? (See the post about luggage in dreams )

Dreams about being scared of losing your passport (your identity papers) are also common when you are at a point in your life when you are about to move into the unknown, for example in your career. In real life, the fear of losing your identity (status etc.) can of course prevent you from taking the plunge into the unsafe and unknown. You can also encounter various barriers on your (dream) journey. These often symbolize your own mental barriers, but they can of course also be barriers that someone else puts in front of you (for example your partner or your parents trying to talk you out of doing something). However, always look inwards before you look for outside reasons. – When trying to understand your dreams it is important to know that your dreams are… your dreams. As such, you are the best person to figure out the true meaning of your dreams.

However, it is important to learn how to generally approach your dreams. Dream dictionaries like this one are only a supplement, and if you want to fully utilize the potential of your dreams, you should start at a different place.

My online course “ Unlock your DREAMlife ” gives you a great foundation for understanding (and recalling) your dreams. – As mentioned, the mode of transportation in your dream is often important. If you’re driving a car, it seems that you are well on your way in life – in a car, you decide where you go – but if you are a passenger in a car someone else is driving, it may mean the exact opposite. In this case it might be this other person (in the outside world) or what this person represents within you that have taken control.

The car is often also a symbol of your body (the body that brings you around). If you drive a bus (public transportation), it may mean that you live your life in keeping with what others are doing and what they might expect from you – you are not following your own path. Traveling by ship represents a somewhat larger perspective on your life’s journey than traveling by car and bus – you can dream about shipwrecks, giant storms, etc. And you can also experience taking the ship to sea – this may symbolize a break from the family or the life you have lived until now.

The road you travel – if by land – can curve and bend and suddenly split in two, and you may be unsure about which way to choose. This will then usually equal a similar dilemma you face in your life right now – which way should I go? There are very many aspects of dreaming about being on the road, and only you – the dreamer – would know which of these is right for you in your life right now.

As a last point, I want to highlight the importance of your destination in the dream . Are you heading to unfamiliar countries? In this case, this will often be a picture of you in your waking or conscious life (including home life) where you might be exploring uncharted territories. Or it may be new aspects of yourself, a new leisure activity you wish to start, etc. You might be experimenting with new sides of yourself. If, in your dream, you are sure that you are heading towards your “final destination”, then it may be a warning about your own death – your final destination in life.

Dream dictionaries are a very helpful tool when interpreting dreams. However, generally learning how to approach your dreams, will give you a better foundation for understanding them. My online course “ Unlock your DREAMlife ” teaches you how to much better utilize – recall and understand – your dreams.

NOTE:  Dreams are 100% individual, and when you dream about traveling, it’s almost certainly about something else for you than it is for your friend, who has also dreamed about traveling. Dream interpretation / dream analysis is sometimes a difficult art, and a particular interpretation of a dream is only correct if you feel “affected” by it. Therefore, it is not certain that the above mentioned interpretations are relevant to you.

I tried to hols the sterring so I can try to control the car. I think the other drivers noticed that there might be a problem because I saw them coming but none of those passed us, not sure if they stopped or were moving slow. At last the car managed to stop crossing the road. As I went out of the car, other driver did the same but they never reach our car. I took my friend to passenger’s seat so that I can drive her to the nearest doctor. When going to driver’s side, other drivers went back to their cars. As I start the car, my colleague started the conversation by saying look they are also going to their cars and driving off. I was like are you OK but never got the answer for that. As I drove off too, I woke… Really!!! Was this a dream? Please help with the meaning.

In my dream I woke up on a plane…I was cleaning the area out and then the plane started moving… I told the ticket guy I wasn’t supposed to be on ther and he tried to stop the plane fore me but I told him its okay its a free flight to Tokyo…. but I didn’t have anything with me … I had to work the next day and my friend and family had no idea that in 3 hours I’d be I n Tokyo and … I was really worried about my job and everything but just let it go because I was excited to be going somewhere even if it was by accident…even thought about just quiting my job… my dream felt so real even though the way it transition wasn’t

An interpretation of journey dreams

This interpretation is from " "The Dream Interpretation Dictionary: Symbols, Signs, and Meanings " and is provided by J.M. DeBord aka "RadOwl". He is the author of several acclaimed books about dreaming , the host of The Dreams That Shape Us podcast, and is a moderator of r/Dreams , one of the largest dream sharing communities on the internet. As with other symbolism, when considering what a journey in a dream can mean, think about how it’s used to compare with situations in life, and explain it in simplest terms. A journey is an act of traveling from one place to another. In our lives we “go places.” We have destinations to reach and landmarks to mark our progress. We journey from one point to the next—from high school to college and job training, from college to career, from marriage to children. A close friendship is comparable to a journey because you share major events and landmarks of your lives together. A major project can be like a journey. A career can be a journey. You can dream about a journey when your life goes off in a new direction. Oftentimes it marks the beginning of something new and exciting, but also consider that changes in your life can slow you down. For example, you reach an age when you can’t get around as you used to, you retire, or your children leave home. These situations are the beginning of new journeys in life. See: Embarking Life itself is a journey, and the pace shows in how you travel: jet, boat, car, train. See below. The journey of life can be summarized as developing your ego, your unique identity, then reintegrating it with the unconscious mind. See: Egos , Unconscious minds See also: Planes , Airports , Boats , Cars , Discovering , Egos , Embarking , Forests , Highways , Hotels , Jets , Lost , Maps , Psyches , Rivers , Trains , Unconscious minds , Vacations , Wilderness

Travelling in dreams: translate the meaning to your waking life

Travelling in dreams: translate the meaning to your waking life

Travelling in dreams could be as big as the “life journey” itself, but may more specifically relate to a spiritual journey, the development of a relationship, a career path, the gaining of education or inner wisdom and so on. Travelling in dreams can explore your current goals and the efforts you are making to achieve them. To understand your dream involving a journey, it can help to look at the means by which you travel, the landscape you travel through, any obstacles you encounter, signs you see along the way or special characters you meet.

Often travelling in dreams reveals much through the journey itself, though sometimes the destination seems particularly meaninful. This may relate to a very important goal to you or the significant closure of a certain part of your life. Reaching the destination in your dream may mean that the goal or closure are recent or imminent. Dreams such as this may bring up feelings of satisfaction, release and even triumph. Other times they may arise to allow you to explore ambiguous feelings around endings and new beginnings and the concept of “what next?”

You can understand more about what your journey dream could be symbolic of by considering the feelings this dream raises for you. If you move easily in the dream, this may symbolise an ease with life and an ability to achieve what you set out to. Feelings of excitement over and enjoyment of your journey are likely indications you are making good progress towards your goals in waking life, or you are perhaps enjoying a new sense of freedom. If you feel lost or confused in the journey, it can reflect a difficult choice you need to make, or starting something with which you have no experience. If you are the first person in your family to attend university or get divorced, for example, this dream may come up for you.

Feeling lost in a dream can also arise when you are denying a certain truth or struggling to accept it. Learning of betrayal and personal disappointment can give rise to this dream. If you have always relied on a certain way of doing things that no longer serves you, this dream symbol may also come up. It could be a negative behaviour that is no longer getting results, such as dominating a person that is now standing up to you. Or it could represent a positive behaviour, such as giving up a bad habit, but perhaps you’re not yet sure about what to replace it with. Feelings of frustration and anxiety may relate to obstacles you may encounter on the way to achieving your goals. Just as these dreams may reveal your inner emotions, they can also provide clues as to how to address these concerns and help you to move forward positively.

Travelling in dreams can also be about understanding balance, compromise and the process of letting go of one thing in order to move on to the next. A dream journey explores transitions, stages and ideas around personal evolution. You may dream of a long journey as a relationship ends, as grown-up children move out of home or as you retire. Changes in your external world are usually mirrored by some kind of change within your inner world as well. Dreams of travelling often explore the many layers of meaning around what it means to change and progress, both in behaviour as well as your beliefs and identity. Not only are you moving on in life, but the person who is moving will also be fundamentally changed by the experience.

When vehicles appear in travel dreams, they can help you to understand how your goals relate to other people and to issues of control and influence. If you are travelling on public transport, such as trains or buses, the current stage of your life’s journey may involve the cooperation of others, or you may be feeling swept along by societal expectations and wishing to chart your own path. If you want to get off a train or bus in your dream, you may be preparing to make changes in your life that go against what others expect of you. Alternatively, you may feel responsible for how your choices will impact on others.

Trains have a further layer of meaning associated with a predetermined outcome. Trains may arise in your travel dreams if you have laid out careful plans or if you feel you are travelling along a path someone else has laid out for you. If you are suddenly forced to become a driver or pilot of a vehicle in your dream, this could symbolise sudden authority or responsibility that has been thrust upon you or an opportunity to lead that you have seized. Controlling where a vehicle goes in a dream can symbolise leadership and self-determination. Travelling in a car, bike or sailing solo in your dreams is more likely related to personal choices you are making in life.

Your dream journey may also be impacted by how well the vehicle works. Mechanical problems can relate to waking issues of a practical nature in achieving your goals, such as operations and planning, and can explore your understanding of “how things work” in your waking life. Issues with vehicles can also have a symbolic meaning that relates to your own mind and body. Running out of fuel can symbolise that a project needs more financial investment to carry on. It may also indicate that you are running out of energy and need to take better care of yourself. Problems getting a vehicle started can represent your frustration at wanting to move forward with an idea or plan but are unable to do so. Electrical issues can relate to concerns you have about connecting with the right people and resources in waking life.

Landscapes in dreams can help provide context to the real-life situation this dream is about. Sometimes the landscape will seem like a mere backdrop against which the story of the dream takes place, at others times the landscape is so prominent it becomes almost like a figure of the dream itself. Either way, paying attention to the surroundings in your dreams can reveal important insights into what the story of your dream is telling you. Just as other people in your dreams can represent parts of yourself, so too can the landscape be a symbolic representation of a part of you. If you dream of ice, for example, you could be frozen with fear, unable to take action, or you could feel your emotions are frozen from a past hurt and you are behaving “as cold as ice”. Dreaming of a desert could indicate you literally feel deserted in some way. Or maybe you feel barren, dried out and unable to be creative and nurturing at this time. Perhaps deserts are sacred places of birth and renewal for you. Dreaming of travelling to a mountain could represent a huge challenge ahead of you or a major success in waking life, as if you have “conquered a mountain”. In more general terms, travelling across water is most likely related to your emotions and your deeper self, through the air to ideas, imagination and intellect, and across the ground with more physical, practical or material issues.

Familiar landscapes are more likely to be about issues or concerns you have dealt with in some way before and already have some degree of understanding of. Strange landscapes may be helping you grapple with new issues in your life or aspects of your personality you had not previously been aware of. In a similar way, built-up, urban or city environments are more likely to be about the life you have constructed, the rules you live by, the societal beliefs you hold and issues relating to friends, family and jobs. Natural environments are more likely to relate to your feelings, your hopes and fears, your sense of self and how you define who you are in your own mind.

Getting stuck, slowed down or hindered in some way is very common in travel dreams. This may be expressed through vivid imagery, such as not being able to move your legs when you run, being stuck in quicksand or having a great big wall or pile of rubbish to overcome. These obstacles can symbolise where in life you are feeling stuck. If you find yourself bogged down or stuck in mud, you could be weighed down by old habits, especially regarding your health, emotions or relationships. If the obstacle is a constructed object such as a wall or fence, this may relate to your own internal boundaries. Your dream could be exploring ideas around boundaries you may not wish to cross in order to maintain your personal integrity. It could also be exploring whether these inner walls are limiting beliefs that prevent you from growing and seeing the world in a more open way.

If you successfully negotiate an obstacle or start moving again, your dream might be encouraging you to persist with your approach. Sometimes a good outcome just requires that you don’t give up. However, if your dream ends without you getting out of your predicament, perhaps it is time for a new approach. While sometimes persistence pays, doing the same things over and over again and not getting results means it’s time for a new strategy. Instead of trying to get over the wall, try going around it. For example, if the wall in your life seems to be an increasing workload requiring longer hours to finish, maybe it’s time to say no to some of those extra tasks, or to start delegating. The obstacles in your dream journey can provide hints as to whether you are “on the right track” in waking life and how to adjust your path if you are not.

Sometimes the travel in your dreams doesn’t happen at all. You may dream of frantically packing and not being able to find the items you need, only to realise that you have missed the boat, plane, train etc. These dreams can symbolise being distracted by small details regarding something that is deeply important to you. Getting caught up in day-to-day distractions, procrastinating, obsessing over details or failing to plan can all lead to this kind of dream.

You may dream of having too much luggage that prevents you from getting where you need to be. This symbol often relates to old, outdated beliefs and behaviours that are no longer helpful to you. When you are starting a new relationship and have not healed from previous ones, we refer to this as having a lot of “baggage”, which can also be a true metaphor in dreams. Sometimes the reason you miss your trip in the dream is because you can’t find a ticket or vital documents. This may symbolise a sense that authority figures are an impediment to your goals. It can also relate to your own inner authority figure. Your dream may be encouraging you to step into your power and take responsibility for the direction of your life. Whatever the reason for missing or fearing that you will miss your planned travel, these dreams often illicit a sense of heightened frustration and panic. When such feelings come up in dreams, this can reflect a sense of anxiety you feel about potentially missed opportunities in your life. At its simplest level, this could be about missed deadlines or planning for a special occasion.

Travel dreams can also arise when you feel that your life choices do not reflect your inner values. This is especially likely if you feel you have grown emotionally or spiritually and your current work, social group or habits are no longer a reflection of your deeper self. This may be a dream urging you to stop for a moment, take stock and make sure that you are directing your energy and attention towards the things truly most important to you; those things that bring you a sense of profound satisfaction and meaning in life.

Travelling in dreams often contain clues on how to reach your goals, overcome obstacles and manage challenges in waking life. You may dream of something as literal as a sign, so pay attention if your dream is advising you to “slow down”, “go back” or “do not enter”. This can be advice for a project you are working on or goals you have set. As well as road signs, look out for traffic lights indicating whether you should go onwards, stop or proceed with caution.

You may also dream of a special guide who appears to help you along the way. This could be a wise older person, who could symbolise your archetypal Inner Elder, the voice of wisdom and experience, or may relate to insight you could gain from others close to you who have had this experience before. Your guide could also be a child, symbolising your own archetypal Inner Child encouraging you to proceed with openness and trust. Or it may relate to experiences from your own childhood that are relevant to your journey now. Other helpful guides include symbolic animals or people with specialised roles, such as the captain of a ship. It can be useful to consider how these characters have personal and symbolic reference to your current goals to help understand their advice better. Sometimes these dream characters may provide actual directions, others may provide a map or shine a light to show the way. These symbols all reflect a deep knowing within yourself as to how to proceed along your chosen path.

At other times, the advice provided by guides can be cryptic or obscure. It is usually a good idea to note down this advice, if you remember it, and the meaning may become clearer over time. In the meantime, reflecting on the nature of the guide and other elements of the dream may prove insightful.

Travelling in dreams often explores what it means to move on, to metaphorically leave somewhere, experience new things and arrive at a different destination. The journey itself is often the most valuable part of the experience and can express the gaining of wisdom and growth. While not all travel runs smoothly in dreams, the lessons of the process can provide great insight into traversing the challenges of waking life and integrating our inner and outer worlds into a harmonious whole.

dream of journey

By Jennifer Krauss

I DREAM OF A JOURNEY

Written and illustrated by Akiko Miyakoshi.

A plaque, next to rows of glimmering keys, reads “Solitude Hotel.” It is late in the grainy black-and-white night, and the eyes of the anthropomorphic innkeeper, who stands still behind the desk, are soulful. Later, as he closes them, he yearns to go “far, far away.” The pages turn to muted color. We see him with a “big suitcase,” riding a bicycle, crossing a bridge. Scenes that hover between fantasy and reality resemble saturated negatives. When he wakes, back in his “little town,” the postcards tacked to his wall radiate vibrant hues, and Miyakoshi’s poetic ending offers young minds ample space to wonder and wander on their own.

32 pp. Kids Can. $16.99. (Ages 4 and up.)

WHEN YOU LOOK UP

Written and illustrated by Decur.

Children will pore over this moody watercolor-soaked story of an introvert’s creative awakening, which contains within it a bright collage of weirdly wonderful dreams and nightmares, while adults will covet it as a work of art that speaks to their inner child. A picture book-graphic novel hybrid by the self-taught Argentine artist Guillermo Decurgez (known as Decur), translated by Chloe Garcia Roberts and also available in a Spanish-language edition, it begins on “moving day,” as a boy who believes the world exists only inside his cellphone finds a mysterious notebook in the secret compartment of a desk in his new room.

184 pp. Enchanted Lion. $29.95. (Ages 7 and up.)

Written by Minh Lê. Illustrated by Dan Santat.

A girl who loves to push buttons loses it when her baby brother finally succeeds in reaching one inside their apartment building’s elevator. After the elevator’s repair, she secretly snatches the old “up” button from the lobby trash, tapes it outside her closet door and embarks on nightly “out of this world” all-on-her-own adventures. Until she hears a call from her brother’s crib: “Up?” This second collaboration by the award-winning team of Lê and Santat touches that sweet spot between children’s “anywhere but here” longings and the everyday joys and heartaches of sibling rivalry.

56 pp. Little, Brown. $17.99. (Ages 4 to 8.)

A STORY ABOUT AFIYA

Written by James Berry. Illustrated by Anna Cunha.

This joyous celebration of childhood, culture and place by the late Jamaican poet follows a young girl named Afiya (“health” in Swahili) whose summer frock “collects” what she sees as she dances across an island in motion: One day butterflies adhere to it, imprinting their vivid patterns, another day flocks of birds or fish in the waves. For its Brazilian illustrator each airy panoramic spread is a fresh canvas, like Afiya’s newly washed dress each morning. Cunha’s color palette, mixing earth tones and pastels, is the perfect complement to Berry’s wondrous words.

32 pp. Lantana. $17.99. (Ages 5 and up.)

LALI’S FEATHER

Written by Farhana Zia. Illustrated by Stephanie Fizer Coleman.

When local birds disown the “lost” feather Lali finds, she scoffs, imagining it can do “100 things!” — tickle, twirl, whirl — until a gust of wind lifts it high above the tamarind trees and it becomes everyone’s prize. Then she finds a button, and the pattern repeats. This circular story has the ring of an Indian folk tale. Its art strikingly contrasts the warm bright colors of silks and spices with the lush turquoise of peacock feathers.

32 pp. Peach Tree. $17.99. (Ages 4 to 8.)

IF I COULDN’T BE ANNE

Written by Kallie George. Illustrated by Geneviève Godbout.

That’s “Anne with an e,” as you know if you grew up reading L.M. Montgomery’s beloved “Anne of Green Gables,” which inspired this and three other books by Kallie George (two early-readers and a bedtime picture book for which Godbout also did the illustrations). Anne’s strong sense of self, attachment to the close friends and found family whom she calls “kindred spirits” and love of nature ground these lively musings about alternative identities, which include a dryad, a wood elf, an echo and the wind “tickling the lake to make it laugh.”

40 pp. Tundra. $17.99. (Ages 3 to 7.)

A WAVE OF STARS

Written by Dolores Brown. Illustrated by Sonja Wimmer. Also available in Spanish.

Two sea creature friends accidentally look at a moonbow and become human in this book that reads like a Scandinavian fairy tale. Mimbi the seal, clutching a mer-king doll, becomes a girl and Kipo the turtle, bereft of his shell, a boy. Though a kind fisherman sees them crying and helps them swim under a restorative wave of stars, they retain fond memories of “the day they were children.” Likewise, Wimmer’s drenched-blue art trails into wispy black-and-white pencil sketches.

44 pp. NubeOcho. $16.95. (Ages 4 to 7.)

Written and illustrated by Einat Tsarfati.

The fun of this treasure trove begins with its tactile cover: a sandpapery castle against the glossy blue-sky antics of the girl who built it. Inside, the things royal guests love about it (“It’s 100 percent sand”; “You can hear the ocean!”) presage its cathartic end. Along the way, Tsarfati sneaks in sublimely ridiculous details: Look, there’s an igloo on the beach, wisely in partial shade. She even hides a tiny swimsuit-wearing mouse throughout, à la Richard Scarry’s gold bug.

48 pp. Candlewick. $17.99. (Ages 4 and up.)

Paul Simon Gets Back in the Studio and Addresses 'Good Friendship' with Former Partner Art Garfunkel in Docu Trailer

The two-part docuseries 'In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon' is set to premiere on MGM+ on March 17, with the second part coming March 24

dream of journey

A documentary is coming soon about one of the greatest songwriters in history.

In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon is an all-new, two-part docuseries about the legendary folk artist, 82, that’s set to premiere on MGM+ on March 17, with the second half arriving on March 24. In anticipation of the forthcoming release, the trailer dropped on Wednesday.

Based on the trailer, the project helmed by Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney appears to be a candid look at Simon’s career, spanning over six decades and his journey to create his most recent album, Seven Psalms .

The teaser features both archival footage of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer on stage and rehearsing, as well as contemporary shots that illustrate his fervor to get back in the studio today.

Michael Putland/Getty

“People used to say, ‘Oh, you have your finger on the pulse.’ Now I don’t have my finger on the pulse. I just have my finger out and the pulse is running under,” the Grammy winner says at one point, reflecting on his long-running career.

It appears as though the documentary will explore his friendship with Art Garfunkel , their time in Simon & Garfunkel and how their legendary songwriting partnership eventually dissolved and became contentious. As old footage of the two plays, the Graceland artist’s voiceover says, “Artie, that was a good friendship. We thought we should express what our generation felt.”

Although the two disbanded after the release of 1970’s Bridge over Troubled Water , which has been hailed as one of the best albums of all time, Simon also seems to address why he continued to make music and pursue a solo career after Simon & Garfunkel was through.

“What I’ve learned is that when you find a thing that produces a feeling of peace or joy, try to hold onto it. It’s like bliss. That’s music for me,” he says in the trailer.

Stephen Lovekin/Getty

The docuseries captures how that enthusiasm continues to the present day, as the musician describes how the idea for 2023’s Seven Psalms came to him in a dream.

In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon is directed by Gibney, 70, who has helmed acclaimed, award-winning documentaries like The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley , Going Clear: Scientology & the Prison of Belief and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room , among others. He’s also previously covered musicians, such as James Brown ( Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown ) and Frank Sinatra ( Sinatra: All or Nothing at All ).

Gibney’s portrait of Ol' Blue Eyes is ultimately what led him to making a film about Simon, which he explained to Deadline following the premiere of In Restless Dreams at Toronto Film Festival last year.

Kevin Mazur/Getty

“[Paul] had reached out to me, he had seen the Sinatra film and wondered if I might be interested in doing a film about his overall career. And of course, I was interested in that,” the filmmaker shared.

“But the gift was when he called me up and said, ‘I’m making this new album. Would you like to come watch me make it?’ And that was a gift because it was him in the present working on something,” he continued. “I could see him working on it. And also because it’s a meditation on belief and life and death, it seemed appropriate to move back and forth in time to earlier moments in his career.”

The “Mrs. Robinson” singer released his 15th solo studio album in May of last year. While he released In the Blue Light , an album featuring re-recordings of some of his deep cut tracks, in 2018, Seven Psalms marked his first record of new material since 2016’s Stranger to Stranger .

Upon the project’s release, Simon revealed that he lost most of his hearing out of his left ear during the recording process.

25 Train Dream Meaning and Interpretation Symbolism Meanings

You’ve been dreaming about trains and you’re wondering what the train dream meaning is. It’s not coincidental, and we’re here to help decode those dreams.

Here we will delve into the train dream meanings and interpretations.

A red and white train on the tracks with mountains in the background.

We’ll explore what it means to be a passenger, miss a train, or even experience a derailment in your dreams.

Get ready to hop on board and journey through the symbolism of your subconscious.

You’re not alone, and understanding these dreams can lead to personal growth and safety.

Being a Passenger in the Train

In your dreams, when you’re a passenger on a train, it often indicates your life’s journey and the role you play in it.

This train dream meaning can be a powerful symbol; it’s not just about traveling on a train.

The passenger train in your dream represents your current position in life and your awareness of the path you’re on.

In dream interpretation , the train symbolizes your momentum and direction.

This dream symbol may suggest that you’re following a set course, but it’s essential to recognize that you aren’t the driver.

It’s about understanding your journey in life, acknowledging the phases you’re going through, and adapting to changes.

Remember, the train journey in this train dream interpretation is your life’s voyage, so cherish it.

Dreaming of Missing a Train

When you’re dreaming about missing a train, it’s often a sign of your fears and anxieties about not being able to keep up with the pace of your life.

This dream indicates that you might be feeling overwhelmed by the speed of events unfolding in your waking life.

Waiting for a train that never arrives or witnessing it depart as you reach the train station symbolizes missed opportunities.

It’s a vivid representation of your dread about missing out on something important.

Therefore, if you dream about a train and miss it, your subconscious is likely trying to alert you to an issue that needs attention.

This dream may be a call to reassess your priorities and make necessary changes to avoid potential regrets.

The Freight Train Dream

Dreaming about a freight train can bring up feelings tied to burdens, heavy responsibilities, or the desire for steady progress in life.

The freight train in your dream symbolizes these aspects and can carry different meanings.

If the train is moving smoothly, it may suggest that you are handling your load well and making steady advancement towards your goals.

On the other hand, a stalled freight train may indicate feelings of being overwhelmed or stuck.

If you dream about trains often, it’s important to pay attention to the details. A dream of traveling on a freight train or a train entering a tunnel can offer deeper insights.

Symbolism of Train Derailment

Moving onto the symbolism of train derailment, you might feel a sense of chaos or loss of control in your life if you’re seeing this in your dreams .

This dream signifies a warning; the train crash suggests you’re on the wrong track in some aspect of your life.

A train derailment in your dream can signify a need for a drastic change in direction or a call for you to stop and reassess your current path.

When a train indicates a journey, a derailment could mean you’re missing vital signs or signals.

If you’re dreaming of train tracks, it might mean your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

Remember, the symbolism of train derailment isn’t about fear, it’s about awareness and taking control before a potential train accident occurs.

Dreaming About Train Stations

A train on the tracks.

In your dreams, a vast number of train stations can symbolize various aspects of your life’s journey, serving as significant points of departure or arrival.

Dreaming of a train station often represents an important decision you’re facing.

If you see a train entering the station, it suggests an opportunity is heading your way. A train leaving might signify missed chances.

Getting on a train indicates you’re ready to move forward, while boarding the wrong train can signify you’re off course.

The train driver embodies control of your life. Waiting for the next train on the railroad tracks might reflect patience or anticipation.

Ultimately, your dream suggests that train stations aren’t just places of transit, but pivotal moments of self-discovery and transition.

Interpretation of Boarding a Train

When you’re boarding a train in your dreams, it’s often a reflection of your readiness to embark on a new life journey or phase.

This interpretation of boarding a train in a dream suggests you’re prepared to face challenges and make progress.

If the train is going smoothly, you’re likely on the right track.

The dream also could indicate a desire for safety and predictability, as traveling by train is often associated with routine and stability.

If the train enters a tunnel, it might symbolize a transitional period in your life.

Late for the Train Dream

If you’ve dreamt of being late for a train, it’s often a symbol of missed opportunities or feeling as though you’re not keeping pace with the changes in your life.

This particular dream frequently suggests you’re struggling to reach your goals.

It may indicate you’re not on the right path to achieve your goals or are missing out on significant opportunities in your life.

However, dreams often have another meaning. A late for the train dream might also imply a desire for safety or stability amidst rapid change in your life.

It’s not just about the missing train, but also about what that symbolizes for you. It’s an invitation to reflect on your current life situation and consider potential adjustments.

Trains Colliding: Dream Symbolism

Dreaming about trains colliding can leave you feeling rattled, often symbolizing conflicting ideas or goals in your life. The types of trains in your dream could provide further insight.

If you’re dreaming of trains that are out of control, it’s a sign that you may feel like you’re losing control over your life.

The collision of the train shows a clash between your current track in life and a new phase you’re entering.

If you see a train coming at you, it could indicate an impending conflict you’re not prepared for.

However, remember that these dreams aren’t predictions, but reflections of your subconscious mind.

They can offer a unique perspective on your internal struggles, guiding you towards regaining control and navigating your life’s journey.

Watching a Train Pass By

In your dreams, if you’re just watching a train pass by, it often carries a distinct symbolism .

The train passing could represent events that happen in your life, out of your control, like watching life unfold from a safe distance.

It’s a spiritual meaning that resonates with acceptance and observation.

The train can represent the journey of life, with the rail tracks symbolizing the path you’re set on.

Watching a train enter a tunnel might also mean you’re experiencing a transition or change.

It’s also a sign of introspection, as you see a train disappearing into darkness and reemerging, symbolizing hope.

Hence, watching a train pass by could also mean you’re expecting significant changes to occur, while you remain an observer.

Dreaming of Empty Trains

A blue train is traveling down the tracks.

When you find yourself aboard an empty train in your dreams, it’s typically a powerful symbol of loneliness and isolation.

This could be a reflection of your desire to get off the train and reconnect with others.

Perhaps you’re driving a train in your dream, moving from one place to another, yet feeling alone. This can indicate a need to control things in your life.

A steam train, being old-fashioned, might suggest a longing for simpler times, while dreaming of getting hit by a train can signify sudden changes that seem overwhelming.

If you see another train, it may symbolize a parallel path or a goal you want to achieve.

Riding a Luxury Train Dream

Now, if you’re cruising in a high-end train in your dreams, it’s a whole different ball game.

This dream can also symbolize a journey of luxury and comfort which you’re currently experiencing or desire in your waking life.

Riding in such a train might also indicate a smooth and safe journey towards your goals. You’re on the right track, moving with grace and ease towards your ambitions.

It’s a positive sign, foreshadowing success and abundance.

However, if you feel uneasy or out of place in the dream, you may be on the wrong track. It suggests a fear of not fitting in or not meeting expectations.

So, pay close attention to your emotions, as they can provide further insight into your dream’s meaning.

Being the Train Conductor

If you’re dreaming about being the train conductor, it’s likely that you’re longing for control and leadership in your life.

This can be a powerful indication of your desire to assert authority or to guide others along their path.

As a train conductor, you’re in charge of the journey’s safety and direction; this parallels with your need for stability and control over your own life’s course.

Perhaps you’re feeling lost or unsure of your current direction in life and this dream is your subconscious attempting to regain composure.

Travelling in a Fast Train

In your dream journey, you might find yourself traveling in a fast train, a symbol that typically represents rapid changes or transitions in your life.

It’s not a cause for alarm. It’s a sign that you’re moving quickly towards your goals or that a significant shift is on the horizon.

You’re likely adapting well to these changes, keeping a steady pace with the fast-moving train in your dream.

However, a fast train can also indicate feelings of losing control, especially if the speed is uncomfortable or frightening. The key is to embrace the journey.

Old Steam Train in Dreams

Transitioning from fast-paced locomotives, let’s delve into the symbolism of old steam trains in your dreams.

These antique engines can signify a longing for a simpler time.

They might represent an aspect of your life that’s moving at a slower, more manageable pace, offering a sense of security and stability.

Alternatively, they could symbolize an outdated, inefficient approach that’s hindering your progress.

If the train is broken or abandoned, it may be a sign that you’re neglecting an essential part of your past.

Conversely, a well-maintained old steam train could be a comforting reminder of your roots and traditions. Remember, dreams are deeply personal.

Your interpretation of an old steam train will uniquely resonate with your life experiences.

Waiting for a Train: Interpretation

A train is parked at a station.

When you’re dreaming about waiting for a train, it’s often a reflection of anticipation or anxiety in your life.

This symbol might suggest you’re expecting a change, awaiting outcomes, or feeling uncertain about the future.

Waiting is a state of in-between, a sort of limbo. This could mean you’re stuck at a crossroad, unsure about the next step.

The length of wait, your emotional state, and the atmosphere at the station can also be significant.

A long, frustrating wait might indicate feeling trapped or stalled in your circumstances.

On the other hand, a calm and peaceful wait could suggest you’re confidently preparing for a transition.

Always remember, dreams are unique and your personal experiences and feelings play a crucial role in their interpretation.

Dream of Being Trapped in a Train

Continuing from the anticipation or anxiety you may experience while waiting for a train, being trapped in one in your dream amplifies those feelings significantly.

This dream scenario might symbolize feeling stuck in a situation or relationship in your waking life.

It’s like you’re on a path that’s moving, but you’re unable to change direction or pace. You might feel powerless, uncertain, or even panicked, just like you’d in a real confined space.

These dreams are a clear signal that change is needed. It’s crucial to identify what’s holding you back and figure out ways to break free.

Remember, dreams aren’t a prediction of the future but a reflection of current feelings or situations.

You’re not alone, and it’s okay to seek help.

Dreaming of a Train Journey

Moving on from feeling trapped, if you’re dreaming of a train journey, it’s often a sign of progression in your life.

This dream could represent the forward motion you’re making towards your goals, symbolizing personal growth and advancement.

You’re on a path, and like a train, you’re steadily moving in a set direction. It’s an encouraging sign, signaling that you’re on the right track.

However, the nature of the journey also matters.

A smooth ride indicates you’re comfortably traversing through life’s challenges, whereas a rocky journey might suggest the need for adjustments.

Remember, dreaming of a train journey isn’t alarming; it’s reassuring and insightful, a gentle nudge from your subconscious to stay patient and continue moving forward.

Train Dreams and Life Direction

In examining your train dreams, you’re likely to uncover potent insights about your life’s direction.

They might symbolize the path you’re currently on and the decisions you’re making.

If the train in your dream is moving smoothly on its tracks, it could indicate that you’re progressing nicely towards your goals.

On the flip side, a derailed or stalled train might suggest you’re feeling off track or stuck.

Keep in mind, these interpretations aren’t hard and fast rules, but rather gentle nudges from your subconscious.

It’s crucial to consider the context of your life when interpreting your dreams.

Ultimately, they’re a safe space for self-exploration, providing valuable clues about your life’s direction and personal journey.

Dreaming of Train Tracks

When you dream about train tracks, it’s often a reflection of your personal journey, just as the trains themselves.

The tracks symbolize a predetermined path, echoing the idea that you’re on a specific trajectory in life.

If the tracks are clear and straight, it may suggest that you’re confident about your direction and feel secure in your decisions.

However, if the tracks are broken or twisted, it could indicate feelings of uncertainty or anxiety about your path.

Similarly, a train veering off its tracks might symbolize a fear of losing control or deviating from your plan.

It’s important to remember that these dreams aren’t predictions, but reflections of your inner thoughts and feelings. They serve as a tool for self-awareness and introspection.

Childhood Train Ride Dreams

A train traveling along the tracks near the ocean.

Despite the path your dreams have taken you on, you might find yourself revisiting memories of childhood train rides, serving as symbolic journeys into your past.

This isn’t mere nostalgia. Instead, it’s your subconscious providing insight into your current situation.

Childhood train ride dreams often symbolize transition, growth, and life’s journey. They might suggest you’re yearning for a simpler time or longing for guidance.

If the ride was smooth, you’re likely on the right track in waking life. But if it was rough or frightening, you may be feeling lost or uncertain.

It’s essential to pay attention to these dreams. They’re not just echoes of the past but signposts, guiding you through the complexities of your current life journey.

Dream Symbolism of Train Tunnels

Why do you often dream of train tunnels?

These dark, mysterious paths have important meanings in dream interpretation. They symbolize transitions, uncertainty, and the unknown.

Like a train’s journey, you’re moving from one phase of your life to another.

The tunnel represents the anxiety and anticipation you feel during this transition. It’s a path you must travel alone, underscored by the solitary nature of tunnels.

But don’t fear! It’s also a symbol of personal growth, an opportunity to confront your fears head-on.

You’re stronger and braver than you think. So, the next time you dream of a train tunnel, don’t be afraid!

Embrace it as a sign of change and personal development. It’s your subconscious telling you it’s time to move forward.

Interpretation of Broken Train Tracks

Just as train tunnels in your dreams symbolize transitions, encountering broken train tracks represents obstacles or disruptions in your life’s journey that you’re currently facing or about to face.

This symbolic image alerts you to possible difficulties ahead. It’s not a cause for alarm, but a sign of preparedness.

Your subconscious is helping you to anticipate and tackle the hurdles head on.

It’s like a personal safety alarm, urging you to slow down, reassess your journey and make necessary adjustments.

The broken tracks don’t mean you’re destined for failure. They signify a need for caution, redirection, and perhaps a bit of repair work.

Embrace these disruptions as opportunities for growth and resilience. After all, it’s the challenges that truly test and strengthen our resolve.

Dreaming of Missing Train Stops

Ever missed your train stop in a dream? This dream scenario can symbolize feelings of aimlessness or lack of control in your waking life.

You’re on a journey, but you’re not directing it. You may feel like external forces or circumstances are determining your path without your input.

This can lead to a sense of anxiety, especially if you’re someone who values safety and predictability.

It’s crucial to remember that dreams are reflections of your subconscious. They’re not predictions of future events but signals from your inner self.

If you’re having recurring dreams of missing train stops, consider seeking ways to regain control and direction in your life. Remember, you’re the driver of your life train.

Subterranean Train Dream Meaning

Diving deeper into your subconscious, dreaming of a subterranean train could represent hidden aspects of yourself that you’re journeying towards.

This dream could symbolize your exploration of your unconscious mind where suppressed emotions, fears, or desires reside.

Traveling on a subterranean train may be a sign that you’re ready to confront these hidden facets, to better understand your true self.

It’s a safe, internal journey that often leads to self-discovery, growth, and healing.

However, if the train ride is discomforting, it could suggest that you’re struggling with accepting some truths about yourself.

Remember, it’s okay to feel uncertain. The journey towards self-awareness, though challenging, is a necessary path.

Keep going, and you’ll soon reach your destination.

Train Wreck Dreams and Their Meaning

In your train wreck dreams, it’s often a representation of your fear of losing control or experiencing a significant disruption in your life’s journey.

This dream can symbolize feelings of anxiety about a situation in your life where you feel that things are spiraling out of control.

It’s a wake-up call, indicating that it’s time to address these fears and regain control of your life’s path.

Your subconscious is urging you to confront these feelings and find a way to restore balance and stability in your life.

It’s possible that you’re feeling overwhelmed by certain events or circumstances.

Remember, this dream isn’t predicting a catastrophe, but rather encouraging you to face your fears, regain control, and ensure your safety.

In grainy black and white, a hotelier stands behind the front desk, an aged key rack hung on the wallpapered wall behind him, and greets a guest while exuding happiness and contentment—“This is my hotel. Small but cozy, it’s my pride and joy.” Yet as the long day ends and the hotelier lies down to rest, he shares a secret: “As I close my eyes to go to sleep, I feel a great yearning to go far, far away.” In his dream, enlivened with muted colors, he sees a rainbow, feels the ocean breeze, and, most importantly, visits friends who have stayed at his hotel over the years. In the morning he is dutifully back to work preparing for more guests to arrive, but as light streams in the window by the front desk on the final page, he is nowhere in sight—has he merely stepped away, or has he finally set off on his journey? Miyakoshi’s reflective story is conveyed powerfully by minimal narration and nostalgic illustrations that together masterfully capture the innate human conflict between contentment and desire for adventure, duty and spontaneity, and the heart’s desire for travel, new experiences, friendship and journey. Miyakoshi’s impressionistic style shines on multiple pages, but especially so as the hotelier stands on the beach with black and white serving as base tones while yellow and purple shine through, and her use of lighting and shadow is magnificent throughout.

Where does this book stand out.

The “Illustration” badge is awarded to books with exceptional illustrations.

The illustrations are remarkable, muted and grainy yet full of emotion. It's a bittersweet story of dreaming of new experiences while being grateful for and taking pride in the ones you've had and the friendships you've made along the way.

The illustrations on this feel like a classic (almost like Chris Van Allsburg, but with a very unique color palette in the dream images as well), and it's a lovely, peaceful, wistful story about being content and also being adventurous.

Dreams About Trains

What does a train mean in your dream.

Train

To dream of a train indicates that you feel events in life are out of control.

The train of life captures our imagination, especially in our dream state. The whiff of coal smoke, the crowded platform, and the whistle in the distance this is a dream of anticipation of your journey ahead. It is an exciting time for you from a spiritual perspective. Life is like a big long train journey you can get whatever stop you want, sometimes it's not what you have anticipated and sometimes it is. Trains themselves are deep emotions to our own souls. The attractions of fire, steam, and the fascination of technology that encapsulates the dream meaning can inspire us to move forward in our life and open up to possibilities. There are many different types of train dreams that you may experience, it could simply be that you see yourself boarding a train in your dream or perhaps you travel along riding one. The type of train "dream scene" is also arguably important. The building of railways across the world has opened up whole countries and continents that create nations allowing us all to interconnect and form a spiritual symbolism of union.

Quick meaning of a train dream

  • Trains in dreams are connected to our own life journey.
  • trains focused on our own movement patterns in our world.
  • Seeing yourself moving on the train can suggest that you are moving forward in life in regards to getting what you want.
  • Driving a train in a dream represents being in control and new opportunities will present themselves.
  • Train crash in a dream indicates that there will be challenges ahead.
  • We think about the train as a mechanical mode of transport,  it is heavy and powerful. The weight itself of a train produces a connection to our life.
  • Trains are often restricted to a timetable, a certain time will mean that the train arrives and departs. This is quite important from a spiritual perspective because it means that you need to look for spending time bt yourself. What are you missing? What is it that you need out of life?
  • What kind of train appeared in your dream?

Trains in dreams can appear either as those that transport passengers or freight. Seeing railroads in a dream can indicate that you are trying to control the conditions around you, in life it is hard to have some measure of control about how we feel for others. In essence, we are conditional observers of life and we do not want you to let our own observation produce successful results. The waiting time in your dream for a train is a reflection of vicious traction responding to your focus on your own satisfaction, as the dream unfolds and you indeed catch a train and go on a journey this dream can indicate your own appreciation of the idea of re-evaluating aspects in your life.

  • What does the symbol of a train mean in a dream?

The train symbolizes your power in life, much like your control over others and this dream can be an indication of how you approach situations. It is important to actually try to remember the details in the dream. If you can see passengers on the train then the dream was focused on your own power in a financial sense. It means you feel that you are being pulled and pushed in different directions.

Your train dream is a reflection of your life and the people on your journey. There is a famous analogy I want to share with you right now by John Passaro. Passaro basically states that our life is like a train, that everyone seems to be heading in the same direction, and that people can get off the train when they wish, but their belief keeps them heading for their own destiny and they will get off at the right stop during the journey. When people do get off your train, this is a reflection on them and you should not look back. In essence, you cannot force people to be with you. You cannot raise the dead. It means that when important people depart your train don't hold onto anger or a grudge, heed the passengers that were traveling with you.

Forgive them as your journey will keep on going and people will get on and off your train. In dreams, the train is your journey, your own destination. We are all onboard people's trains and may choose to depart. This dream is extremely good when we need to re-evaluate coming together for the purpose of completing our tasks in life. In life we call for no desire to excel at times, maybe right now you are enjoying the natural extension of your own being. Dreaming of a negative train dream can indicate that you are clarifying the design in your life, and you realize that you are in fact the creator of your own life. Maybe you imagine what life can be like when you achieve what you really want, and this is invigorating to realize that you create your own destiny. A train crash in a dream can mean that you blame someone else for things that go wrong in life, try to observe things.

  • What is the meaning of seeing a train in a dream?

A dream of seeing an out-of-control train indicates that your power is being controlled. Trains generally mean that life problems are to be solved easily. The speed of the train can indicate possible problems in one’s life. To keep missing fast trains indicates that you are trying to achieve something in life. It points to trying to reach the impossible. If the train is old-fashioned, such as a steam train then people will likely ask you a number of favors. The fact that the steam train is speeding is connected to the haste of these people. To miss a train that is parked at the station and leaves before you are able to get on it indicates that a person will mention a great opportunity that may pass you by.

To be the driver on a train suggests that you will need to be more in control going forward in matters related to the heart. To travel on a train which is going too fast suggests that you may have to lower yourself to make sure you finally get what you want to achieve. This can mean trying to find the time to do well on an important project or forgiving someone else. If the train is traveling without a track at the bottom and going fast this can suggest that people will be seeing you differently than you actually are. To see a train going into a tunnel can signify a false positive. Something in life may look great but in fact, it is not as good as you first thought.

To dream of a train that has sleeping compartments indicates that you are going to have a long power struggle with someone in authority. To dream of being on a foreign train suggests that you need to try to curb your spending. Losing a train ticket in a dream suggests that you are worried about a problem that will go away with time.

Being in charge of the train means that you wish to control other people’s lives too much. If you see a station or pass one on the train then this can mean that you will soon have an important trip to take. A freight train is a symbol of business. To dream of the freight train announces that things in life will get better and success will be yours. If the freight train crosses water (such as the channel) then international business affairs will be prosperous. To dream of the channel tunnel or a train that crosses countries or water suggests that someone will tell you something in confidence. It is important to keep a secret. If the train goes the wrong way in one’s dream this means that there will be a problem that will have nothing to do with you but may impact others.

What do dreams about train stations mean?

Dreaming of a train station has many aspects from a spiritual dream perspective. This is about the creation of your life, your road, goals, patience, and influences in life. The train station is about delivering people cheaply from A to B, in spiritual terms it is about delivering your goals in life. Train stations in dreams should capture your imagination of how you structure your life. Let's think about it, train stations in dreams are about waiting for something important to happen in life, just like waiting for a train. The context in the dream of a train station plays an important role in dream interpretation. A busy, bustling, stimulating train environment (that is in constant movement) indicates spiritually that you are feeling overwhelmed at the moment. The more stimulating, colorful, and warmer the dream appears the busier your life will become.

Train stations always include platforms. Perhaps you saw the entire platform during the dream, or even the platform was lit or certain parts of the station. If you dream the train was already waiting at the platform concerned at its time of departure this dream means that you may feel that your desire in the process of becoming who you wish is manifesting. Dreaming of other passengers waiting with you at a train station can mean that you need to develop the habit of being happy to get what you want from life. Are you always yearning for something? But have not yet achieved what you want due to doubts?

What do dreams about train tracks mean?

Train tracks in a dream or railroad tracks can indicate the track of your life and the goals that you have. This can be associated with how you can patiently wait for something that you need in life. We all want to be joyously full of force and have clear goals towards the things we really "want" because the components of the universe are working in the background. Each track in your dream is a phase in life, of how you must focus on your own mapped out goals to achieve in life.

Crossing a railroad or track in a dream can suggest that things are going to work in your favor. To see broken rail tracks in dreams is a message from your spirit guides that it is a good idea to take ownership of what is happening to you. Remember we are in charge of our own problems. Life can appear to be a constant struggle to balance between positive and negative programming in our own desires. This happens in all situations. Acceptance and the removal of judgment will help you to be proactive in your response to situations.

Two people may think they are right, and they might be, but they only have their own perspectives. This dream is telling you to stay away from judgment, which will help you to see problems from your own perspective. There is always something to learn in life. Our inner voice can assist us in identifying the root cause and help us move on.

A train crash in one’s dream is a rather disturbing experience and can even turn into a nightmare. The dream is connected to distant friends and it can suggest that others will give you problems in life. If you could see dead people as a result of the train crash then this can suggest that a friend that is close to you will ask for help.

In America, there are many different types of blue trains especially those that formed part of the US government. If you see one in your dream the blue train can represent your own emotions. If you are having problems with another person at the moment then try to embrace the part within you that can transcend always needing to be correct. The blue train is often associated with the messenger of the great mystery of life. It can often indicate that you need to communicate more and meditate in regard to the blue energy found in the throat chakra.

What does it mean to dream of a red train?

Red trains in dreams are often connected to how we navigate our anger on the journey of life, perhaps you need to take some time out from controlling people. When you do so allow all the answers to reveal themselves to you on your journey in life. Red trains are often representations of love in all its forms. You may find that you will be communicating more with lovers, family, friends, and also yourself. A red train reminds us that we can be who we want to be and that we also have choices in life.

What does it mean to dream of a white train?

A white train in a dream indicates you need to be able to open your heart completely to other people around you. White in spiritual terms also indicates peace and tranquillity. Are you able to place yourself in the right areas of your life at the moment? On occasions maybe try to limit yourself to five minutes on your phone in the morning, for example, we all spend so long on our digital phones, and white trains in dreams mean you need peace right now. How can you ensure peace?

What is a dream of a toy train or miniature train mean?

Spoken at length about real trains but to dream of a toy train is an interesting dream. It can mean that you are having difficulty truly loving yourself. Is this act the case? If you're able to open your heart and be completely honest about what you really want in life and how you feel then you'll be able to be much happier. Think about how we accept one another and strive for inner peace. Dreaming of playing with toy trains can represent the different aspects of you that must be brought into harmony. To see toy trains or miniature trains represents your state of harmony at the moment. It can mean that in time things are going to be much better and that you will feel more secure in your life.

What does it mean to dream of a ghost train?

Riding on a ghost train during the dream, perhaps often in a single carriage can indicate that you are feeling removed from other people in life. The ghost train as a dream symbolism suggests that you need to socialize more. As traditionally ghost trains are one carriage I have often an upbeat and often scary experience it could mean that you are not connecting with others and have hidden away in order to work out relationships.

  • What does it mean to dream of buying a ticket for a train ride?

Tickets in dreams represent that you are going to have a chance at something different in life. To buy a ticket at a ticket office for a train illustrates that it is time to restore harmony in your relationships. These could be either professional, romantic or family relations. You will also feel that you will free your mind from suffering and restore balance to your life.

  • What does it mean to dream of the train workers/crew?

To see a conductor in a dream, perhaps helping passengers or helping yourself can suggest that somebody is going to offer you an important opportunity in the future. To speak to or see the train driver, alternatively, engineers who are running the train can symbolize that there is somebody else who is in control of your life right now. Crew members featured on a train during the dream are a representation of how you are socially interacting with others at the moment. Are you giving people a chance for example?

  • What is it mean to dream of railway signal systems?

If you dream of a rail crossing, signal, or the actual mechanisms of a train are connected to you as a person. Think about how a train is run. This dream is about how complex you are finding your life right now. Spirit is telling you to avoid stress, giving to others reduces anxiety and this will naturally make you happy is the message.

  • What does it mean if a train is about to or runs you over?

Ask yourself why you have a dream about the train (journey of your life) running yourself or someone else over. The symbolism in your dreams will reflect on you and your life. Remember that dreams are not meant to draw attention to something unless it is essential. If it is part of the story, it will mean something. Who is being run over? Why? There must be something in your waking life that needs attention (a relationship) if you dream of the train either trying to or running over you or someone else then focusing on your current relationships is the key spiritual message of this dream.

  • What does a rail crossing mean in a dream?

The dream of a rail crossing can simplify you're at the crossroads in life. Perhaps you were traveling in the car you had to stop due to a rail crossing. Alternatively, it can mean that you were trapped in a rail crossing and the train was coming - which would naturally induce panic. Often these dreams are connected to how we are feeling inside, maybe you are feeling up and down, and things like a rollercoaster in your life at the moment.

  • What does it mean to dream of an underground train?

Underground trains in dreams are a very interesting symbolism The underground train indicates that there is something that is not at the surface. It could be that you are hiding an area of your personality, goal, or problem, this dream also implies that you are driving yourself crazy about something in waking life. This could highlight the imbalance or the disconnect that you are feeling about people around you.

  • What does it mean to dream a train is hijacked?

If you are on a train that is hijacked (or simply out of control) then this means that disharmony will most likely surface in your current relationships. Perhaps it is simply to think that other people always have the problem, the dream is trying to force you to ask yourself is a problem with you or them. Try to reflect on your own part in the dramas of life that may unfold over the coming year. This isn't necessarily a negative dream, if you saw terrorists or people hijacking the train this is about somebody hijacking your own emotions in life.

  • What does it mean if a train is unable to break and is running away out of control?

If we think about the train it is a very powerful piece of machinery. Early trains often used hand brakes as opposed to them being automatic. If the brakes have an issue in the train dream then this could suggest the need to put a break on something in your life. This could be a relationship or goal. I'm not necessarily saying that you need to remove people from your life you just need a break. You need to be on your own, a bit like the hermit on the tarot card. It's time to retreat in order for you to find peace.

Summary - dream about trains

In Buddhism there are many important spiritual messages, such as that we should not be too attached to things in life and that we need to appreciate what happens in our life right now. People pass, we get old, we move on and these are all part of our train journey. If we look at Dahmmaphada it states that we need to desire the right things in life. The train in dreams is positive, this is how you navigate life. How one desires and moves forward on the journey of life. We all desire a certain amount of love and it is important to make sure that we need to train our minds and open ourselves up to other people's actions. In summary, think about how you can make things in life.

In this dream meaning below, I have covered the following dreams?

  • What do dreams about train stations mean?
  • What do dreams about train tracks mean?
  • What do dreams about being on a train mean?
  • What do dreams about being hit by a train mean?
  • What do dreams about missing a train mean?
  • What do dreams about getting on the wrong train mean?
  • What do red, white, green, blue, black, gold, or silver trains mean in a dream?
  • What is a dream of a toy train or miniature train mean? What does it mean to dream of a ghost train?

In your dream, you may have

  • Been traveling on a train that is out of control.
  • Rushed to the train to then get on and be frightened.
  • Traveled through the air in a train.
  • Experienced problems with the train.
  • Fast train may go the wrong way.
  • A fast train in a tunnel.
  • Been the driver of the train.
  • Missed the train.
  • Had a relaxing journey.

Positive changes are afoot if

  • The train was out of control but ended up being a rather pleasant experience.
  • The dream resulted in peace and happy times.

Dr. Khan's journey to start a free clinic fueled by faith: February Jefferson Award winner

by Tessa Spencer

Dr. Khan's journey to start a free clinic fueled by faith: February Jefferson Award winner (WCIV)

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Dr. Reshma Khan is not only a doctor, but a woman of faith.

"I try to keep up my promise to the Lord, and I try my best to be the best version of myself, and each day I'm improving," she said.

Her dream to start a free clinic was a journey wrought with patience.

SHIFA Free Clinic provides primary care, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, and ophthalmology to uninsured populations.

Khan's calm demeanor and soft voice betray the strength she has shown along her journey.

As a private practice OB-GYN, she served "very elite and very entitled people," she said.

The people that she envisioned herself serving were those she came to work with at a VA Hospital.

"But this population that I started serving was homeless with social issues, military, sexual trauma, a lot of issues that women were facing that made me feel like these are my people," she said.

Khan was certain that her calling was to serve those who sometimes don't have a voice when it comes to healthcare.

It was when she and her family moved to Charleston that her faith began to blossom.

She could not find any options for her children to learn Islam.

"I just felt like I can not let my kids grow without a direction," she said, "I'm responsible, I'm accountable. Like they need to find some sort of spirituality."

Read more: "Equine therapy brings humans & horses together to heal."

She began studying the Quran, feeding the desire to understand why we are here.

The doctor felt something familiar.

"The lessons of the Quran were very practical to what I was seeing in the VA," she said. "I had never seen such closeness of those people."

Khan would go on to attend a religious conference where she was sure she received a sign – literally.

Read more: "Darlene Gaffney is more than a breast cancer 'survivor'."

"I saw a small sign that said, we start free clinics," she said.

Was this the confirmation that Khan desperately wanted?

Testing fate, she reached out to the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA).

"It took me ten months with them persistently, calling back, following up, and they said, 'send us this proposal. Meet this person, and attend this committee.'"

Read more: "Joy Campbell serves the community with 'joy'."

She laughed while adding that ICNA really "tested her patience."

Finally connecting, leaders at the organization asked her three questions during a phone interview.

The first, "Why are you so persistent?" Khan recalled.

Second, "Do you have any money to support this program?"

And the third, "Would you be willing to start it in a mosque?"

Read more: " Louis Yuhasz tackles obesity one family at a time."

With passion settling in her voice, she said, "My only reason is my pleasure of Almighty."

Khan had zero dollars to support her program.

She said she "couldn't promise any dollars."

But most importantly, she wanted her program to be "independent of religion."

"Yes, it is my faith, but it doesn't have to be others," she said.

Read more: " A lifelong 'giver' through YMCA."

Despite not having what she believed were the right answers, ICNA moved forward in supporting Reshma.

During a trip for Hajj in 2011, Khan asked God what she should do next.

After all, she had ICNA funding, but now what?

She prayed, "I only want this place to be a portal of mercy and blessing to all, she said. "If you don't feel I'm the right person or even my intention is slightly wrong or anything, you know me better than I know myself."

Her prayers were answered both definitively and exponentially.

Read more: "'Not about the party, it's we the people'."

By January 2012, a location was secured, and "our patients were already started with the full schedule," she said.

For eight years, Khan ran the SHIFA Free Clinic without any compensation.

"I was convinced it was not even like a doubt in my mind that when I need the money, God will provide," said Khan. "He will never leave me like this."

A suggestion from her CEO to become ICNA's Director for Health Services for seven clinics would bring in an income for her family.

It was a huge undertaking for Khan, but "I still take only twenty hours a week," she said.

A compromise to her not wanting any compensation at all.

"My everyday prayer is my God, please, Lord, accept my work, accept my work, and put it in my good days," she said. "That's my only thing, please accept this work."

How Is Bradley Cooper Relationship With His and Irina Shayk’s Daughter Lea de Seine? How Did His Father Affect the Complicated Journey?

E very Hollywood dream adjusts at least once to imbibe the cinematic tropes from screen to reality. For actors, the lives of reel and reality play mutually in building fascinating career summaries. Some find it hard to keep the success of professional life in tandem with their private sphere, and Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper is one such star. Despite his stellar acting resume, Cooper has not been as lucky in family matters. Especially his initial bumpy roads in forming a bond with his daughter, bear testament to it. Yet, those are now relics of the past, as Cooper finds echoes of his father in his daughter.

Therefore, to fathom this transformative journey, there remains a need to first understand the nature of Cooper and his dad’s relationship.

Bradley Cooper’s father’s death: A catalyst for his transition

Bradley Cooper’s love for his kin is above and beyond the ordinary. And if anyone has to find a fitting adage for the actor, it is none other than the one reading “like father like son”. Hence, it is, after all, not that surprising that when it came to his daughter, the actor found his father. But it all began after Cooper had to bid his farewell to his father, Charles J. Cooper, following the latter’s long battle with lung cancer.

For Cooper, it was a turning point in life. It was in 2011 when Cooper set out on the last day of Hangover II ’s filming to be by the side of his ailing father. Little did he know back then that within two weeks, they would be separated forever. Talking to The New York Times in 2018 about that dreadful day, the actor recalled how it was the genesis of a “new reality”  and to him, it was a “whole new world”.

While that moment was instantly upheaval for the star, it also paved the path for his coming to terms with co-parenting and fatherhood.

Bradley Cooper’s daughter, Lea de Seine

It is not news to the world that Bradley Cooper shares a beautiful daughter with his ex, Irina Shayk, and their initial roads were not as smooth as now. From 2015 to 2019, Cooper dated the Russian model, Irina Shayk, and the pair gave birth to Lea de Seine in 2017, March 17th. Despite their separation, the duo co-parents their daughter and has often been spotted together . Although the actor prefers to keep his daughter Lea de Seine away from the public eye, he managed to arrest their gaze with a surprising confession recently at Dax Shepherd’s Armchair podcast.

Recalling the days after Seine was born, the Oscar nominee expressed his mixed feelings about his daughter. However, he was quick to add that despite having taken some months to come to terms with the news, he has realized that “it’s no question” that he would “ die ” for her if she were at the edge of the gun. His admission alone vouches for how big of a transformation this daughter-father duo has undergone after their rocky onset and it is all thanks to Cooper’s father.

Bradley Cooper’s journey from fumbles to fatherhood

A year ago while talking to Bear Grylls for an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge , the actor opened up about his father’s death and the resultant turning point of his life. For Cooper, his father’s death was a “blessing” as when he died in Cooper’s arms, it made him witness the “factual example of mortality” . He confessed how it initially pushed him to nihilism, but then “evened out” when he learned to embrace his reality.

Pressing on the subject of fatherhood, Cooper focused on how his learnings from his father have grounded him to accept that mistakes are only humane. Hence, for him to navigate through those mistakes led to his road to becoming a better father to Seine. After this entire blow of reality checks after his father’s death, this is how he slipped into the bliss of parenting.

Bradley Cooper’s parenting gene: A gateway to a better life

Back in 2011, in an interview with NPR, the Oscar-nominee let slip how big a miracle it is for his dream of “having a child and a family” to turn into reality. In that same interview, Cooper mentioned how his father “works his way” into his life now and then. And it is due to this constant presence, his blessings, and his family’s utmost support that has led him to look out for his daughter as well. He said how he just wants his daughter to “feel loved” like his parents made him feel.

In an interview with Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square in 2019, Cooper further mentioned having felt a spiritual connection between his father and his daughter. He emphasized how finding his family “changed everything” while adding how he sees his father’s reflection in his daughter’s eyes. He shared that on some occasions, the presence of his father becomes so transparent that she bears an uncanny resemblance to him.

Following these confessions, the actor also admitted on multiple occasions about his favorite pastime; to watch cartoons with his daughter. And post the award ceremonies, it is probably going to be his favorite pick for his previous teasers of laid-back plans. While it is truly surreal how life comes in a complete circle, for Cooper at least, the circle of reality was nothing less than a cinema and it shows.

Daring to DREAM, Dr. Cheavar Blair reflects on his UK journey

February 22, 2024.

Cheavar Blair, PhD, completed his doctorate in physiology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2017. In 2022, he was recruited back to the department as an assistant professor in the research title series.

Dr. Blair is also one of four College of Medicine faculty selected as a 2024 Disparities Researchers Equalizing Access for Minorities (DREAM) Scholar. The DREAM Scholars Program supports the training of exceptional under-represented minority pre-docs, post-docs, and assistant professors committed to health equity research. During the two-year program, participants engage in seminars to strengthen their career development and core human subjects research, with emphasis on health equity research methods.

When asked about the importance of Black History Month, Dr. Blair noted the significance of representation in medicine and science. "I mean, if you look around, there are not many African American professors. When I was going through school, I never had an African American professor at any level.”

Reflecting on his personal journey to academia, he shared “as one of the first Black men to get a PhD in Physiology at UK, and as the only black professor in the department, it’s encouraging to know that I'm moving things forward on the diversity front and serving as a trailblazer for those that will come after me.”

According to the National Science Foundation , only 4.7% of individuals with doctorate degrees identify as Black males. Among the medical sciences, research suggests that percentage is even lower.

Dr. Blair’s path to a career in research was not a straightforward one. He recalls meeting with mentor Ken Campbell, PhD, professor of cardiovascular medicine and physiology, early into his graduate school tenure to discuss his then-goal of teaching at community college. Dr. Campbell challenged him to do more.

During the third year of his PhD program, Dr. Blair got a sense of what teaching at a community college would entail. He spent weekends lecturing as an adjunct faculty member at Bluegrass Community and Technical College, further developing his teaching and mentoring skills. This experience also reinforced to Dr. Blair that he would be selling himself short if he did not pursue the passion he was developing for research and the impact of his work with human heart samples.

He realized that while he would be a good educator at a community college, he may have a greater impact by conducting research. Focusing on research would also allow him to build on his newfound curiosity for finding ways to treat individuals suffering from heart failure. Dr. Blair also began learning more about academic medicine and the combined teaching, mentoring, and research efforts that professors engage in at large academic medical systems like UK, ultimately leading him to his current role.

As an assistant professor in the department of physiology, Dr. Blair’s research focuses on two of Kentucky’s most urgent healthcare needs – cardiovascular disease and cancer.

“Unfortunately, a lot of chemotherapies have off-target effects that can damage the heart,” Dr. Blair said. He hopes this research will lead to a better understanding of how cancer drugs degrade heart cells, as well as help develop therapeutic interventions that enhance the heart cell’s ability to regenerate and restore mechanical function.

Additionally, his lab is beginning to investigate genetic mutations and circadian rhythms, utilizing stem cell models to understand how 1) genetic mutations change the size and function of the heart and 2) how disruption to our sleep cycles leads to abnormal heart function.

Outside of work, Dr. Blair continues to engage with and mentor the next generation. He has been a longtime volunteer with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and shared that he has even kept in touch with his first “little”, even though he’s all grown up now.

His advice for those interested in pursuing a research career? “Make sure you’re genuinely passionate about it.” Sharing that he spent multiple 12-hour days working on a grant recently, he emphasized finding joy in the work to make the long hours worth it. For learners from underrepresented backgrounds, he further stressed the importance of trusting your gut, noting “trust your instincts— if it feels like it’s a good fit, then lean into it— but always stay flexible and adaptable.”

“Knowing that I will be able to help create a more comfortable environment for young researchers from underrepresented groups is a big deal,” Dr. Blair said in a 2022 interview. “I want to be someone who is thought of not only as a minority professor, but as someone who is genuinely passionate about developing the next generation of scientists, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to make sure we have a more inclusive and diverse University as a whole.”
