Set your sights higher than the Museum of Flight or the redwoods for lush green forests, cascading waterfalls, and ice-smothered volcanoes – just the opening scenes of this west side story. From Seattle to Portland and all the way to the Golden Gate of San Francisco, the dramatic views of both city and seaside astound on this nine-day Pacific Coast vacation. While Oregon’s fabled lighthouses cast their beams to reveal the wonder of the West, your Tour Director will shed light on what makes this side of the country so uniquely spectacular – from its waterfalls to its fresh catches of the day. If the Seattle coffee scene doesn’t wake you up, a dune buggy ride along the Oregon coast, a jet boat ride across the wild Rogue River, and a journey down Redwood National Park’s Avenue of Giants certainly will.

" The Western United States' national parks have some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet, and provide experiences and memories that last a lifetime. Where else can you see wild animals roam free among natural wonders and stunning canyons? It's my great honor to introduce travelers to these beautiful places as I tell the little-known facts and stories that bring each destination to life. "

" The West has been my home since I was born, and its incredible diversity has kept me engaged since my earliest memories. It is a world of iconic places and undiscovered gems waiting to be explored. Experience the bustle of its cities and the serenity of its open spaces, hear the stories of its people, and embrace the wonder of its beauty. No matter who you are or where you come from, there is something about the West that will never leave you. "

Pacific Northwest Tours & Vacations
If you think the Pacific Northwest is all hiking, coffee and craft beer...
you'd be absolutely correct. But it's some of the best hiking, coffee and craft beer in North America . Encompassing Washington, Oregon and parts of Canada's British Columbia, the Pacific Northwest is known for its impressive glacier-laced mountain ranges, rugged coastlines, perpetually green forests and quirky cities. While the region does have a bit of a rainy reputation, you'll never be far from a hot cup of coffee; Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks, after all. PNW locals cherish their outdoor activities, so lace up your hiking boots and grab your reusable mug... it's time to explore the best of the "Upper Left."

Pacific Northwest travel FAQs
Do i need a covid-19 vaccine to join an intrepid trip.
Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards
From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travelers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises).
However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travelers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.
Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.
What to pack for a trip to the Pacific Northwest
What to pack for the Pacific Northwest depends on what time of year you're travelling and what you're planning on doing. Comfortable walking shoes are a must for all destinations, and layers are always a good idea (even in the summertime) as the weather can change quickly in all seasons.
Hiking trips require proper trekking gear: a mixture of lightweight, quick-drying clothing, properly fitting hiking boots and sun protection. To avoid buying plastic, a water bottle or bladder/hose system to refill along the way is a must.
Before travelling, it's a good idea to familiarise yourself with the ‘Packing’ section of the Essential Trip Information for the tour you’re interested in, especially if you're joining a walking, hiking or trekking trip .
Are Intrepid trips accessible for travelers with disabilities?
We are committed to making travel widely accessible , regardless of ability or disability. We do our best to help you see the world, regardless of physical or mental limitations.
We are always happy to talk to travelers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them toward the most suitable itinerary for their needs and, where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.

Why Travel with Globus?
Perfectly Planned. Seriously Stress Free.
After 90-plus years of sharing the world with travelers, Globus has set the gold standard for award-winning touring across virtually every continent. Our global network of premiere travel partners, operations experts, and hospitality pros share one goal in mind—an exceptional travel experience no matter where we travel together.
Beyond the Guidebooks.
While Italy is synonymous with spectacular food, it is the close family connection that brings generations of tradition to the table. Globus goes beyond typical tours to introduce you to local legends and local experiences not found on just any map. Meet the Bonajuto family at Antica Dolceria—the oldest confectionery in Sicily. More than 150 years after the dolceria was founded by Francesco Bonajuto, the family still serves its heavenly chocolates in the same spot, while also serving as international ambassadors of Sicilian cuisine. Che dolce!
Don’t Miss the Must Sees.
Why stand in line to catch a fleeting glimpse of ancient ruins and remarkable historic sites? Globus gives you VIP access with an expert Local Guide to go deeper, get closer, and soak it all in. From the Parthenon to the Vatican museums, you’ll explore Europe’s most beloved locations without getting lost in a crowd or waiting in line. Don’t just file past masterpieces like Michelangelo’s David or get only a hurried look at the Crown Jewels in Edinburgh Castle. Experience Europe’s extraordinary sights—and historic sites—with the VIP access you deserve.
Dreams Realized.
The Colosseum. The Prado. Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Each Globus tour always includes the legendary landmarks, the major attractions, and the must-see sites. Going beyond the iconic exteriors, we lead you to the front of the line, straight through the door, and inside the walls of Europe’s most awe-inspiring places for an exclusive look behind the scenes. With priority access, we ensure you behold the sights you’ve long dreamed of—without waiting any longer!
Do as the Locals Do.
When in Rome—or London, Paris, or Barcelona—we arrange for you to do as the locals do, not just what the tourists do. In every itinerary, we include hands-on, authentic experiences for a true taste of a day in the life. Board a private water taxi through the Grand Canal of Venice, bake scones in an Irish farmhouse, or sample Geysir Schnapps in Iceland. By striking a golf ball at St. Andrews or dancing the Sirtaki while sipping ouzo, you truly get to step into someone else’s shoes and experience the world from an insider’s perspective.
Adventure, a la Carte
While Globus vacations get you up close and personal to the world's must-see sights and unforgettable experiences, we also know the value of spending time on your own to explore as you please. After all, travel is meant to be filled with memorable moments of your own with serendipitous surprises that can’t be planned or scheduled. We build free time into every itinerary so you can leisurely explore the beckoning bookstore, tempting café table, or whimsical window shopping that's schedule free. Don’t wait a lifetime for that once-in-a-lifetime experience that’s waiting just around the corner!
Pick your Passion.
Maybe you’re an art lover, a foodie, or a history buff. Perhaps you’re moved by music, art, cuisine, or theater. Or maybe making tracks in the great outdoors is more your speed. We offer a wide array of optional excursions and activities—tailored to a variety of fitness levels and interests—so you can customize your adventure with your own personal passions and preferences. Each Globus excursion and activity has been personally tested by us and handpicked to allow you to really get to know each destination. You never have to choose between included and optional excursions, since optional activities fit seamlessly with your vacation schedule!
A Friend in Every City.
Join us and a few of our friends in your next dream destination. After all, we’ve spent over 90 years making friends in virtually every city and country in the world who let us in on local secrets, like where to find the best scone, stein, or spumoni; the best people-watching table; or the best view of wide-open spaces. Every Globus vacation includes local experts who share the stories behind the sights and Local Favorites you won’t find in the guidebooks. Globus Tour Directors and Local Guides hail from the region through which you’re traveling. No one is more familiar, passionate, or eager to share insider knowledge than our local pros!

7 Day Vancouver Island Camping Adventure
Our recently completed Fresh Adventures “Vancouver Island Adventure” was simply put, an incredible experience all around that we will treasure as one of our lifelong most memorable trips. Alex, the owner, delivered a unique connectivity with the awesome natural beauty and diversity of Vancouver Island for everyone irrespective of camping/hiking/paddling skills. Each day was jam packed with adventure and quality of food one might expect to get at a fine restaurant. From the first growth forests of Cathedral Grove to riding a pack freighter through Barkley Sound to sea kayaking out of protected islands near Torino and the expansive splendor and ruggedness of Strathcona Park as experienced by hiking to high mountain lakes, our 8 days flew by however our memories are indelibly etched in our souls. Were it possible, we’d give Alex and Fresh Adventures a 6 on a 1-5 scale. We enthusiastically recommend doing this trip !

USA – Best of WA – North Cascades Olympic Mount Rainier National Parks
The itinerary, hikes and activities were great. The best feature of the hotel in Seattle was location. The quality of the hotels went from bad to worst. On the one we stayed the last two nights there was not even soap, we had to go and ask for it and almost beg for shampoo, they also just gave us one key for a double room, There was always a sense of improvisation and lack of communication. The guide tried his best to save the day, every day. We would arrive tired and hungry and most places were closed already. The guide on the last day went out of his way to deliver participants to their destinations, not just the airport but the train station, etc. that was greatly appreciated, his energy, enthusiasm and driving skills made of this a Good trip. There is a lot of room for improvement.

What people love about Pacific Northwest Tours
This Vancouver Island tour was another great tour from Fresh Adventures. The trip was well run and organised. The 2 guides, Jafar and Carl were excellent and cooked some fantastic meals throughout the week. A good mix of exploring and relaxation at some great swimming areas throughout the island. Definitely recommend.
We loved the tour! Ian is a fantastic tour guide. He’s so knowledgable and makes things fun. It’s a long day but totally worth it. The Discover tour is the best. It’s a smaller group. Very personal. Just enough “tour” time as well as free time. Victoria is wonderful!

Reviews of this Operator
We have just returned from a cosmos….
We have just returned from a Cosmos tour- Gourmet Tuscany. We stayed in Montecatini Terme and traveled from there to many wonderful places, in towns and the fabulous Tuscan countryside. We visit Vineyards for wine tastings, farms for cooking lessons and lunches and dinners in authentic Italian restaurants. All assisted by a friendly, informative tour director. First class holiday
Excellent in every respect
I recently did a 2-week "best of Italy" tour with this company. Our guide, Daniella, was fantastic, the itinerary was excellent and they catered for my rather difficult dietary requirements really well. Really happy and will certainly book with them again
A wonderrful experience
WE saw so much. The tour director Mladin was very knowledgeable and made the experience so enjoyable. The bus driver Paul was so nice and helpful. A couple of the hotels had no refrigerators to keep the water cold. We had to carry our own luggage to and from the rooms. There should have been porters to help us. Over all we had a great time.
Old South &Florida tour
Great organisation, tour guide(Kris) and driver(Tony) who went extra mile and good group of people from all over world. The hotels were excellent in New Orleans and Nashville and very good in other cities. The itinerary was well thought out with visits to Gracelands and Grande ole Oprey topping the bill. We added 3extra nights in New Orleans (giving us 6nights) which was absolutely fab and would advise anyone doing this tour that they consider some extra nights to see and do as much as you can
The tour director expertise and…
The tour director expertise and personality made the trip all the more pleasant. No stress. The local guides as well added to the beauty of this trip. They were knowledgeable and personable. I also have to mention the travelers (the group of 21). The people were friendly an accommodating. This is my third trip with this tour company and I will continue to travel with this company due to excellent planning and customer service. Thank you

Pacific Northwest Tours to Book Right Now
Coming up with a list of Pacific Northwest tours was easy. Narrowing it down to include a little bit of everything and not be overwhelming was the hard part!
I love creating tours, mostly because I love going on tours. When you book a tour you get to skip all the tedious and frustrating aspects of travel, like planning, making reservations, and driving. Instead, you can kick back and let someone else take care of the boring stuff.
There’s so much to see when you visit the PNW that it can be hard to decide where to start. So, I curated a list of tours that will satisfy everyone in your group. So, whether you’re looking for wine tasting, hiking, waterfalls, or a weekend food tour, consider this list of the best PNW tours to book today.
This post has affiliate links, which means I’ll earn a small commission at no cost to you if you click on them and make a purchase. This is a small way I earn money to support this site. If links aren’t showing up for you , turn off your ad blocking software. Thank you for your support!
Pacific Northwest Tours
While I may not have personally been on all of these tours, I did select some of the highest-rated ones from Viator and made sure to include a wide variety of options. I’ll add more to the list as I find them, so save this to Pinterest for later!
Self-guided Seattle food tour
Love food? Then you’ll love my self-guided Seattle food tours . They’re a digital download with around 40 pages each that includes 8-9 stops and 12-14 honorable mentions so you can customize your own food crawl. I also give you a dose of history along the way, tips on when to go, and exactly what to order to eat like royalty.
Why self-guided you may ask? Well, it lets you mimic a tour without feeling a tourist. And because you’re not rolling in a big group, you can guarantee you’re getting the best recommendations instead of the second or third-string ones that are willing to host tours. Plus, there’s no middle man taking a cut so you pay the restaurants directly.
I have tours for three of my favorite off-the-beaten-path foodie neighborhoods. You can also buy the bundle for a discount and explore all of the areas during your trip!
Bon Vivant Woodinville Wine Tasting Tour
link to book | Seattle, WA | cost: ~$120 pp | best for: wine tasting
The Bon Vivant tour is on my list of the best wine tours in the Seattle area , and according to Viator, it’s super popular. The tour begins in Seattle, with numerous pickup points available all around Seattle, Bellevue, or Kirkland.
Once you load up, you’ll get to learn about the best Washington wine from a professional. The tour includes visits to a mixture of big and boutique wineries and can be curated depending on the group’s wine preferences.
Lunch is not included in the tour, though you do stop halfway at a local cafe before continuing on with the tour. In total, it lasts about 7 hours and includes 4-6 wineries depending on how fast the group moves. It’s one of the only wine tours I’ve seen with so many stops, so it’s a great way to maximize your day wine tasting without having to worry about a designated driver.
Half-day Columbia River Gorge and waterfall hiking tour
link to book | Portland, OR | cost: ~$69 pp | best for: light hiking and scenic overlooks
This tour begins in Portland and takes you directly to Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in the state and infamous for its picturesque view and scenery. After Multnomah, the tour continues to lesser-known, but still gorgeous, falls around the Columbia River Gorge. To get an idea of which ones, check out my Columbia Gorge waterfall map .
This is a great tour if you want to break free from Portland for a half-day trip since it only lasts 4 hours. Just keep in mind that while it’s not strenuous hiking for most, you will have to climb a fair bit of stairs to get up to the peak of Multnomah. However, the lower viewpoint and lodge are both wheelchair accessible.
Half-day White Salmon River rafting trip
link to book | Husum, WA | cost: ~$75 pp | best for: white water rafting
If your group is looking to embark on a dose of adventure, this is a fantastic way to do it. The White Salmon River includes class 3 and 4 rapids that are guaranteed to leave your heart pumping.
The tour lasts 4 hours, though almost all that time is spent on the water. While white water rafting isn’t for the faint of heart, it is a popular activity with adults and teenagers. The guides do an excellent job of guiding the raft, leaving you feeling safe as you pedal through the well-kept secret of the White Salmon River.
When you’re finished with the tour, you’ll be perfectly located for exploring the best Columbia Gorge wineries .
Vancouver BC scenic boat tour
link to book | Vancouver, BC | cost: ~$65 pp | best for: short-and-sweet scenic boat tour
This tour takes you through the English Bay from Granville Island, where you and fellow travelers can breathe the fresh ocean air and catch seals sunbathing on the coastal rocks.
This laidback tour is only 90 minutes, but it’s not short on experiences for the whole family. You guide will share tales about Vancouver’s history. Then, midway through, you’ll come across Lighthouse Park and be greeted by roughly 400 seals working on their tan. Be ready with your camera because pictures of these magnificent creatures make excellent keepsakes.
Portland breweries by e-bike
link to book | Portland, OR | cost: ~$66 pp | best for: moderate exercise and craft brews
If there are two things Portland is known for, it’s the craft beer scene and its bike-friendly roads. So, it only makes sense that you should combine the two!
This 2.5-hour tour begins at a bike shop and takes you to two craft breweries. Drinks are not included until the final stop back at the bike shop, where you’ll get a craft brew in a commemorative pint glass. Since there’s no pressure to “drink your money’s worth,” many travelers share a couple of tasting trays.
As for the bikes, travelers can choose between a pedal bike or an e-bike, making it accessible for all skill levels.
Beneath The Streets Underground History Tour
link to book | Seattle, WA | cost: ~$29 pp | best for: unique tour of Seattle
Did you know there’s an entire underground neighborhood in Seattle? The original Pioneer Square may no longer be in use, but you can still tour and learn its history. It’s one of my top recommendations if you want unique things to do in Seattle .
The tour is pretty touristy, but it’s a quintessential part of the Seattle experience. The guides are also great at giving imaginative, borderline spooky stories of the residents and the history of what used to be a bustling Seattle neighborhood. It’s also a great excuse to get down to Pioneer Square so you can explore the fun art galleries, restaurants, and Seattle urban wineries above ground afterwards.
Mt. Rainier National Park day tour
link to book | Seattle, WA | cost: ~$171 pp | best for: visiting Mt. Rainier
A trip to Mt. Rainier is one of the best Pacific Northwest tours. This full-day experience begins in Seattle with multiple pickup locations, then drives you to Mount Rainier while narrating the scenic viewpoints in between.
Once you arrive at Mt. Rainier, you’ll begin at the Longmire Visitor Center and check out Christine Falls, which features one of the infamous viewpoints for the mountain and a must-visit during any day trip to Mount Rainier from Seattle .
The showstopper of the trip is Paradise. Here, you’ll stop for lunch and have the chance to look for wildlife. If you arrive during the spring and summer months, you’ll also be greeted with wildflowers as far as the eye can see. You’ll have about an hour to explore, so check out my guide to the best Mt. Rainier hikes for ideas of how to pass the time.
Pro tip: This tour is best explored during the warmer months, as park closures due to weather are common and can result in a shortened or canceled tour.
Seattle’s only donut tour
link to book | Seattle, WA | cost: ~$54 pp | best for: exploring Seattle’s donut scene
This is another one of the Pacific Northwest tours that lets you spend a quirky afternoon in Seattle. It’s a 2-hour experience that takes you to some of Seattle’s most well-known doughnut shops and bakeries, including Tom Douglas’ Dahlia Bakery, Top Pot Doughnuts, and more.
Keep in mind the tour starts at Top Pot and ends at Daily Dozen, which is one of the best Pike Place eateries . While the tour is definitely doughnut-focused, the guides do a great job adding a touch of comedy and insight into Seattle’s history as you walk between the shops. Plus you can use my walking tour of Pike Place Market to explore more eats afterwards.
Whale watching from Friday Harbor
link to book | Friday Harbor, WA | cost: ~$135 pp | best for: whale watching
If you find yourself visiting the San Juan Islands from mid-April to October, you’re basically required to go whale watching as one of your Pacific Northwest tours. This is because the orca whales migrate to these waters for the salmon, which constitutes most of their diet.
While the guides will say that it isn’t a 100% guarantee that you’ll see orcas, it is guaranteed you’ll see some marine life. For example, gray and humpback whales are also common to view during this time of the year.
As for the tour, it’s about 4 hours long and includes access to the heated cabin in the event of chilly weather. Since it departs from San Juan Island, read my guide on how to take a day trip to San Juan Island to get there in time.
Vancouver Capilano Suspension Bridge & lookout tour
link to book | Vancouver, BC | cost: ~$120 pp | best for: amazing views
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of my top recommendations for planning a trip to Vancouver, British Columbia . Opting for a tour instead of driving makes it easy, so you don’t have to fuss about renting a car if you were planning on traveling by foot.
The tour begins at the Georgian Court Hotel, though other pickup spots can be arranged. Once you’re onboard, the tour stops at Granville Island. Here you can hop off and check out the local vendors before moving on to the bridge.
Plan on needing a full day to experience the tour, but know you’ll be able to cross multiple boxes off your travel checklist.
Olympic National Park tour
link to book | Seattle, WA | cost: ~$201 pp | best for: seeing the Olympia National Park in its entirety
No list of Pacific Northwest tours would be complete without a visit to Olympic National Park. This full-day tour begins in Seattle (or Port Angeles) and drives you through some of the most well-known parts of the park and its must-see Washington coast attractions .
When you take this tour, you’ll be driven around the blue lagoon that is Lake Crescent, along with the Dungeness Spit, Hurricane Ridge, and Sol Duc Falls, to name a few. Honestly, Seattle locals and tourists alike will equally get a kick out of this tour.

Moscow Metro
The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.
What is the kremlin in russia?
The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.
And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.
During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.
There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:
From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.
At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.
According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.
The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.
Coffee Ring
The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.
Zodiac Metro
According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.
Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.
Paleontological finds
Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!
- Every day each car in Moscow metro passes more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
- Moscow subway system is the 5th in the intensity of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
- The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is 90 seconds .
