Most important, there are dozens of great RV parks amidst the turquoise waters and the white-sand beaches. If you don't own an RV, no sweat … Cruise America has affordable Miami RV rentals available that will fit the needs of you and your traveling party as you explore the Sunshine State. There are a lot of things you can do in the beautiful city of Miami. You can party all night at South Beach, the quintessential hotspot, or you may decide to venture out to the Everglades for a gator-infested nature ride on an airboat. Perhaps you'd like to take an architectural tour of the Art Deco buildings of the area, or maybe just veg out on the beach and unwind. For an unforgettable venture, try a visit to the Everglades National Park in Homestead, Florida, where you will find over a million and a half acres of swamps, subtropical jungles and saw grass marshes. The park is located on the southern tip of Florida, and serves as home to 14 endangered species. Some of these critters are the American Crocodile, the West Indian Manatee and the Florida Panther. You will also find a great number of mangrove forests and a few of the northernmost Florida Keys. The park measures 300 square miles and can be easily explored in a canoe, or you may opt for the glass bottom boat tour. Aside from Hawaii, this (and Key largo) may be the best snorkeling area in the U.S. to get here from the Everglades National Park, just take State Hwy 9336 to Florida City, then follow SW 328th St to the park. It should take no longer than an hour to arrive. A trip to Florida is not complete without a trip to the Space Coast. Kennedy Space Center is one of the largest and most visited attractions in the state of Florida, encompassing more than 140,000 acres, with over a million and a half visitors annually. Not only can you and your family take an amazing tour of the actual space center and learn more about our space program in action, you can also see some of Florida's richest federally protected undeveloped areas, which are set aside as a wildlife preserve. Here you can spot alligators catching some sun, bald eagles soaring overhead and wild pigs rooting for food. To arrive at Kennedy Space Center from Miami, simply travel south on the Florida Turnpike (I-95 N) to North Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island. Take Courtenay Parkway and Kennedy Parkway and follow the signs. The whole trip should take you about 3 hours, but well worth it. Art Deco Historic District

The Art Deco Historic District is part of Miami Beach and is located along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, and Washington Avenue. There are over 800 buildings and structures in the district that were constructed between 1923 and 1943. The buildings are colorful and feature interesting design elements popularized in that era.

If you want to learn more about the history of the area, visit the Art Deco Museum, which provides daily walking tours as well as self-guided audio tours. Some of the district's highlights include the Colony Hotel, Winterhaven Hotel, The Seymour, Jerry's Famous Deli, the Sterling Building, the Colony Theater, and the Bass Museum of Art.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is located in the Coconut Grove neighborhood. The estate, which was constructed in the early 20th century, is surrounded by Italian Renaissance gardens and historic outbuildings. 

The mansion was designed in the Mediterranean Revival architecture style and includes Baroque elements. It has 70 rooms, several of which have artifacts from as far back as the 15th century.

The museum hosts several activities throughout the year for visitors, such as moonlight meditations, yoga, house tours, panel discussions, waterfront luncheons, scavenger hunts, and art-making after dark. It's also a popular place for student school trips.

Events and Entertainment in Miami

The Miami International Boat Show is one of the largest boat shows on earth, and over 1,000 vendors and 100,000 visitors attend each year. It attracts both high-end yacht buyers as well as those who are new to boating. The marina features a wide range of boats for sale, including powerboats, sailboats, catamarans, and fishing vessels.

Visitors learn about the latest boating technology and can take boating lessons as well as test drives. The event includes sailing seminars and information from charter companies and others in the industry. And after spending all day in the sun perusing all the goods, attendees like sampling the food provided by several food trucks, food courts, and the VIP lounge.

Miami Art Deco Weekend

Art Deco Weekend is Miami Beach's longest-running free community cultural festival (it's been going on for nearly 45 years). The Miami Design Preservation League puts on the festival, which takes place over three days and features over 85 events on the schedule. No matter what your interests are, you're bound to find something to do at the festival, which is held in mid-January on Ocean Drive.

Festival-goers can listen to live music, participate in guided walking tours, and visit the marketplace. There's an antique promenade, classic car show, lecture series, and free dance and sketch classes. Other activities include a film festival, special exhibitions, children's activities, and a dog walk.

Homestead-Miami Speedway

If you enjoy car racing, then you may want to plan a trip to the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, less than 45 minutes from the city. The track opened in 1995 and held its NASCAR debut to a sold-out crowd. It has also hosted events such as the IndyCar Series, WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series, and the Championship Cup Series.

What makes the track unique is it features the only true oval that’s 1.5 miles long. Current races include the Dixie Vodka 400, the 2020Census.gov 300, and the Ford EcoBoost 200.

Miami is home to five major professional sports teams, which makes it a sports fan's paradise. You can watch the Florida Marlins baseball team or the Miami Dolphins football team at the Dolphin Stadium. If you like basketball, check out the Miami Heat at the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Ice hockey fans watch the Florida Panthers at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, while the Tropical Park Stadium is home to the Miami FC soccer team. No matter which type of sport you like, there's something for everyone in Miami, which also hosts the Sony Ericsson Open, has several greyhound racing tracks, and has venues for jai alai and golfing.

Campgrounds and Parks in Miami

One of Miami's top campgrounds, Miami Everglades Resort is situated on 34 acres featuring tropical flora and a variety of mango, avocado, and palm trees. It's located 30 miles south of Miami and Key Largo and is just 10 miles away from the Everglades National Park.

Amenities include a clubhouse, shuffleboard, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, a swimming pool, hot tub, mini golf, restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi/high-speed internet, cable TV, and a dog park. 

The campground also hosts weekly events, including movie nights on the big screen, water aerobics, 5 o' Clock Somewhere Happy Hour, quilting and hand crafting, and jam sessions.

Paradise Island RV Resort

The Paradise Island RV Resort is located in Ft. Lauderdale, which is about 40 minutes from Miami. Golf courses, casinos, restaurants, and live entertainment are all located within 10 minutes of the campground. 

Ft. Lauderdale has 23 miles of beaches as well as the Los Olas Riverfront shopping and dining district. You can visit the nearby Sawgrass Mills Mall or Seminole Hardrock Casino, swing a club at one of the local golf courses, or take an Everglades airboat tour.

If you prefer some downtime, the RV park has a heated swimming pool and a clubhouse with a billiard room, lending library, complimentary ice machine, and a laundry facility. Other amenities include Wi-Fi, a BBQ area, a fitness center, and shuffleboard. 

Everglades National Park

On the southern tip of the state is the 1.5-million acre Everglades National Park. Hundreds of species live in its coastal mangroves, marshes, and pine flatwoods, including manatees, panthers, and turtles. It's a great place to go biking, bird watching, boating, kayaking, and canoeing.

Other popular activities include fishing, geocaching, hiking, and slough slogging (off-trail hiking). The park also provides ranger-led activities as well as guided tours.

There are three campgrounds in the park, including one in the backcountry. The Long Pine Key and Flamingo campgrounds accommodate trailers and have restrooms, picnic tables, grills, and drinking water. The Flamingo campground also has showers and electric hook-ups.
