Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour moved back inside on Friday night (June 9), playing the first of two concerts at Detroit’s Ford Field, which has been hosting Swift in the Motor City since 2011.

A crowd of nearly 59,300 — including a significant number of travelers to the show — gave Swift a thunderous welcome that left her wide-eyed and grinning by the end of the second song “Cruel Summer.”

“You’re making me feel phenomenal right now,” the pop superstar told the Swifties, a cross-generational, mostly female throng (though a few “Proud Swiftie Dad” T-shirts were spotted in the crowd). “I’m already starting to feel, like, powerful, you know what I mean?”

Playing under a roof, of course, meant Swift and company didn’t have to deal with weather issues like they did in Nashville, although it was a pleasant late spring day in Detroit. It also limited the chance she’d swallow any flying insects , like she did in Chicago. The domed setting did, however, provide different circumstances for the Taylor-gaters outside, who could not hear the music like they could at the open-air venues. That kept the numbers down but there was still a concentration of fans on the east side of the stadium, opposite of the stage, who were able to peer through the windows and were filming the production on their cell phones.

The covering also added another dimension to Swift’s opulent light show, particularly during “Don’t Blame Me,” when the rows of floodlights that shot towards the sky made shapes on the roof. It also reflected the pyrotechnic moments in a different way, lighting up the venue even more intensely than others.

Twelve weeks in, Swift’s Eras Tour is looking and feeling dialed-in — a 44-song, three-hour and 20-minute treat for Swifties who haven’t seen her on stage in five years. That made for a smooth night for all concerned on Friday, with some moments that still stood out from the evening.

Motor City Surprise Songs

Swift, per usual, explained to the Detroit crowd her idea of playing surprise solo songs each night — and not repeating them throughout the tour. A challenging task, she noted, but was clearly proud that she’s been able to keep it up so far. On June 9, she welcomed two more new arrivals to the Eras Tour roster, starting with “Haunted” from 2010’s Speak Now , played on acoustic guitar and preceded with a plug for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , arriving on July 7. She followed on piano with “I Almost Do” from Red , its first time in the set since 2013.

Memory Lane

Before performing “Lover” during the show’s opening segment, Swift reminded fans that the first time she sang in Ford Field was during the fall of 2006, as a 16-year-old singing the national anthem before a Detroit Lions game in conjunction with the release of her self-titled debut album. “It was, like, the biggest place I’ve ever seen in my life,” Swift recalled, “and now we’re back with the Eras Tour.” It was actually her fifth appearance at the stadium, having played there on the 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour, the 1989 World Tour in 2015, The Red Tour in 2013 and the Speak Now World Tour in 2011.

VIP Flavors

A number of Detroit Lions were in the crowd on June 9, or planning to come to Swift’s second show on Saturday, including head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff. But the most visible celebrity in attendance on night one was Public Enemy ’s Flavor Flav , who was also seen at the Detroit Grand Prix the previous weekend. Flav was conspicuous in one of the main floor VIP boxes, pressing the flesh with fans who spotted him throughout the evening.

Cold Comfort

As she introduced Evermore ’s “Champagne Problems” while seated at a “moss-covered piano,” Swift apologetically made “a very annoying request that somebody maybe bring me a tissue.” She explained that “I’m kind of at the end of a cold. I’m just getting to a point where it’s gonna get messy for me on the piano.” A stagehand brought one up in short order, and Swift ducked down in order to blow her nose. “OK,” she said, “that may not be the last time that happens tonight. Just a warning.” It didn’t affect her performance of the song, however, which earned one of the night’s longest and loudest ovations.

It’s Janet… Miss Jackson

Astute Swifties noted that Janet Jackson ’s “All For You” was added to pre-show mix piped over the PA, ushering in the usual — Lesley Gore ’s “You Don’t Own Me” just before the lights went down and Swift hit the stage.

Loving the Love

Before rendering the nearly 10-minute “All Too Well” from Red (Taylor’s Version) , Swift spoke to the crowd about her mission to re-record her first six albums — and her appreciation for the Swifties’ support for the project.

“Ever since I was a teenager it’s just been really important for me to on my own music one day,” she explained. The Taylor’s Versions , she added, “is sort of the definition of a passion project, right? A passion project is something an artist wants to do for personal reasons, and they would it regardless of whether it was a big, massive failure or it went well … and because it was so personal to me I didn’t go in with any demands or expectations that you guys had to like my versions more or you had to support my versions more, right? But the coolest thing happened; I put out my very first re-record, which was Fearless , my version. You guys, like, rolled up your sleeves and dove in head first and you were like, ‘Nope, these are the versions we support. We want you to own your work.’ Honestly, I’m gonna be thanking you for that for the rest of my life because it just, it was so generous of you to care about the same thing that I care about.”

Time Out for Cuteness

At the end of “22” during the Red section, Swift took a moment with a young girl at the far end of the stage. Swift gave the smiling Swiftie a wink and the hat off her head before she skipped away to charge into “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

Girl In Distress

While Swift didn’t experience any obvious technical issues like she did the previous weekend in Chicago, when her microphone malfunctioned during the third show there, it was opening act Girl In Red ’s turn for a snafu. Like Swift, the Norwegian rocker (aka Marie Ringheim) pounded on the mic with her palm, then told the crowd, “I’m not sure if you saw the TikTok where Taylor lost her vocal mic. That’s exactly what I was going for.” After a quick mic hand-off she was able to finish the rest of her 35-minute set without incident.

DETROIT - Tens of thousands of people are descending upon downtown Detroit from all over the country to see Taylor Swift this weekend as she performs two concerts at the home of the Detroit Lions, Ford Field.

Friday night’s concert will be the first time Swift has performed in Michigan since she brought her “ Reputation Tour” to Ford Field in August 2018 and it’s the most sought-after ticket of the year. Here’s everything to know if you’re headed to Ford Field for either night one on Friday or night two on Saturday.

Tickets sold out a long time ago and continue to be in such high-demand, they are still going for thousands of dollars each on reputable secondhand ticket sites. Here are two options where you should check back frequently as ticket prices fluctuate and could go down as the concert approaches.

Friday: Vivid Seats , StubHub

Saturday: Vivid Seats , StubHub

Doors open to Ford Field at 4:30 p.m. allowing plenty of time for fans to get through security, wait in the souvenir lines and get to their seats. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

  • Friday: Gracie Abrams and Girl in Red
  • Saturday: Owenn and Girl in Red

Swift has been taking the stage around 7:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at previous shows on her tour, so you’ll want to be in your seats by then. At one of her shows in Chicago last weekend, she started precisely 7:56 p.m.

I-75 south, I-96 east and M-10 south will all potentially be backed up with traffic, especially the closer you get to the event. And Swift’s concert isn’t the only event happening downtown this weekend.

  • Friday: The Detroit Tigers play next door at Comerica Park at 6:40. There are also concerts at The Fillmore and St. Andrews Hall. The musical “Six” is also playing nearby at the Fisher Theatre.
  • Saturday: The Tigers play at 1:10 p.m., Hart Plaza will be packed with people all day at Motor City Pride and “Six” is at the Fisher.

You can park at the Ford Field lots for $50 First come, first serve. Here is a map of the Ford Field lots . You can also pre-purchase parking at one of dozens of downtown Detroit parking lots by clicking here .

If you don’t pre-purchase, your best option is to look for lots further away from the stadium. You’ll walk a little further to and from the show, but have less traffic getting out. You’ll find parking lots all over the place which again, you can pre-purchase or look at the parking lot options at this guide here .

If you park and hop on the  Detroit People Mover , get off at the Broadway station. If you park in the New Center Area, you can take the QLINE  down to the stadium. Get off at Foxtown or Grand Circus.

Taylor Swift’s Ford Field “Eras” show excites fans and evokes nostalgia

Taylor Swift at her Detroit concert.

It’s no secret that I’m a Swiftie.

I’ve written about Taylor countless times, and I’ll probably continue to do so for the rest of my time with The Michigan Daily (for instance, keep an eye out for my Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) review after the album drops on July 7).

I’ve listened to her songs, written about her music, stayed up late for her new releases, gone to her shows, driven myself crazy trying to figure out her Easter eggs and much, much more.

But I feel like I didn’t really understand what it meant to be a Swiftie until I attended the first Detroit show of her Eras Tour.

Even before the show started, the mood was set. We saw people decked out in elaborate, over-the-top eras-themed outfits the second we walked out of our car and into the parking garage. Throughout our 10-minute walk to Ford Field, we were joined by even more concertgoers, each in more extravagant outfits than the last. Tons of “ Bejeweled ” looks, more cowboy hats and boots than I could count, pink flouncy dresses, a lot of black leather and so much Eras Tour merch.

From the literal second I stepped out of the car until the moment I started driving away post-concert, I felt like part of this massive, sprawling community — a community I sometimes forget the sheer size of. All of these people were here for one purpose: to experience this concert. And sharing the Eras Tour (this once-in-a-lifetime concert) with all these Swifties was a truly unique and special experience.

Before I get to the actual concert (which, by the way, was easily the best concert I’ve ever gone to and probably will ever go to), I want to highlight another really unique aspect of this tour: the friendship bracelets. For those of you who may not know, in her song “You’re On Your Own, Kid,” Taylor has a line about “ mak(ing) the friendship bracelets ,” and as a result, fans attending her shows have been prepping for their concerts by making beaded friendship bracelets to trade with their fellow fans. I was one of those devoted, prepared fans, arriving at Ford Field with an armful of bracelets (only slightly cutting off my circulation). One of the most special, magical moments of the entire night was when I was able to give bracelets to little girls, shining with excitement about their first Taylor show. That really sums up what Taylor does for her fans — she nurtures this aura of togetherness and camaraderie that sees no age, gender, race or other factor. We’re all there; we’re all Swifties. And it’s kind of beautiful.

Now, for what you’ve all been waiting for — the concert itself. Gracie Abrams and girl in red opened the show, doing an amazing job of getting the crowd excited. It’s a daunting task to open for someone as huge as Taylor Swift, but both acts did the job impeccably and with no visible fear. The crowd was ready for Taylor, and a huge part of that was due to the performances that Gracie Abrams and girl in red gave.

So what about Taylor? I know for a fact it’s been discussed already, but it warrants further discussion. This woman sang 44 songs over the span of three hours with minimal breaks, just so her fans could experience the last 17 years of her music. My feet were hurting from standing, dancing and Instagram takeover-ing only one hour in, so I truly don’t know how she did it.

But she did.

Starting with the Lover era, she took to the stage with pastel colors and the line “It’s been a long time coming but / it’s me and you, that’s my whole world,” signifying the role that her fans play in her career and her life. Followed by “Cruel Summer” (and with it, the bridge to end all bridges), she really started out strong.

After a few more Lover songs, we entered the Fearless era. She may have asked us to go back to high school with her as she sang “You Belong With Me,” but I was transported back to elementary school and the feeling of dancing in my bedroom and singing into my hairbrush as I jammed out to this song (Which, by the way, I still do, and you’re lying to yourself if you claim you don’t).

She switched gears with evermore , and while most would highlight “champagne problems” as the best part of that era, I think “marjorie” stole the show. A song written about her maternal grandma, the sheer emotion she felt while singing was palpable. When the audience took out their phones to light up the stadium, she seemed as mesmerized by us as we were by her. And when her grandmother’s voice joined in the song, it felt like that moment was suspended in time for a second, where we all just breathed and took in what we were experiencing, Taylor included.

After a quick outfit change (and a huge shift in aesthetic), we all entered our reputation eras. I attended the reputation stadium tour back in 2018, but this felt even more gripping than that, even though we only heard four songs off the album this time around. From the second we saw the snake on the screen, the audience was on their feet, energy renewed by the anticipation of what was to come.

And then we got another genre shift when Taylor went from her snakeskin getup to her literal princess ball gown, as she sang “Enchanted,” my favorite song ever. I got weepy (and I’m sure others did too) as she called back to her Speak Now album. Screaming “please don’t be in love with someone else / please don’t have somebody waiting on you” in a stadium full of Swifties is incredibly cathartic, and I highly recommend everyone do it at least once in their lives.

Then we came skipping and bounding into the Red era with “22.” She primarily sang singles from the RED era, which felt criminal considering the amount of underrated songs on that album (“Holy Ground”? “State of Grace”? “Message in a Bottle”?), but she made up for it with “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).” It’s funny because the song truly didn’t feel 10 minutes long — when everyone around you is as wholly into the moment as you are, the song speeds by and lasts forever. It’s a paradox, a dichotomy, but when you’re at the Eras Tour, that’s all to be expected.

She followed Red with folklore , decked out in the most beautiful, pixie-like green dress, singing hit after hit. Taylor may not admit if she had a favorite album, but my money’s on folklore , considering that she performed more songs off that album than any other. From the three teenage love triangle songs to a stunning rock-esque version of “illicit affairs” to a haunting rendition of “my tears ricochet,” she put her whole heart and soul into embodying everything folklore is.

And then she shifted gears again. This woman reinvents herself so often — has so many eras — that she can go from folklorian to 1989 pop princess in seconds. And pop princess she was. Reentering the stage to her hit “Style,” the 1989 era was bright colors and catchy ear worms and everything she wanted it to be (and we wanted it to be).

And then, the best part of the night — the best part of every night of the Eras Tour: the surprise songs. Every single show, Taylor performs two surprise songs, typically ones she hasn’t played before on tour, so every crowd gets something special, something that’s their own. And, no offense to any other city, but Detroit Night One won the surprise songs. “Haunted,” a track off her third album, was perfect on the acoustic guitar, with the crowd lit up in purple. Considering that there’s only one Speak Now song permanently on the setlist, getting a surprise song from that era felt like a particularly glorious moment. She followed this with the highly underrated song “I Almost Do” from the Red album. As mentioned earlier, many Red songs on the permanent set lists are singles, so getting to hear a song that usually flies under the radar as our second surprise felt like she was giving us a hidden gem.

After diving away from the surprising songs, we were thrust into Midnights . As her latest album, Midnights got its own moment in the tour, spanning seven songs and tons of iconic moments. With an entrance to the line “meet me at midnight,” Taylor ushered in the final era of the night with a bang. And when she ended the show with “Karma,” it felt like no time at all had passed, even though we’d been at the venue for hours by then. As she said her goodbyes, I was left wondering how that time could have passed as quickly as it had. Forty-four songs, three hours … gone, just like that.

I’ve heard people talking about this post-concert amnesia they’re experiencing, where the sheer joy they felt actually eclipses the ability to form or maintain memories of the night, but I don’t think that will happen to me. Whether it’s giving a friendship bracelet to the little girl dressed in a folklore costume or seeing Taylor sing “Enchanted” or experiencing a Taylor Nation notice live during the show (yes, that happened), I feel like all these memories are imprinted on me. Maybe it’s cheesy or dramatic to say that, but it also feels true. Taylor made this show, planned it carefully (like a “Mastermind,” if you will), with the intention that we would all go down memory lane with her as she reexperienced her highly expansive discography, and I’m so thrilled and privileged to have been a part of that. So, yes, I will be “ hold(ing) on to the memories ,” because I can’t imagine letting a single moment from this night slip away.

u.s. american stadium tour 2023

Taylor Swift announced Tuesday morning her long-rumored return to the road, with an outing dubbed the “ Eras Tour ” scheduled to hit U.S. stadiums beginning in March 2023 and running into August, with international dates set to be revealed later.

The support acts are very much all about the sisterhood, with a host of acts Swift has championed in the past. Opening acts for the U.S. leg of the tour are Paramore , Haim , Phoebe Bridgers , Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Muna, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn.

The tour starts March 18, 2023 in what is apparently a sweet spot for Swift, Glendale, Ariz., the same place her last outing, the pre-pandemic “Reputation” tour, began in 2018.

As for which album we can consider the tour to be supporting, since she has released four original studios albums since her last tour? All of them. Swift described the tour as “a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!),” with a graphic showing her look from different phases of her career.

See the full itinerary, with color-coded graphics indicating which of the nine opening acts got the gigs in which cities:

The public on-sale happens at 10 a.m. local time on Nov. 18. As with all major tours nowadays, there will be an earlier rollout of tickets for credit card members, in this case holders of Capital One cards, beginning Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. through Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. local times.

As with her previous tour, there will be a Ticketmaster Verified Fan program “to ensure tickets get into the hands of fans.” Aspiring ticket buyers can register for the setup now through Nov. 9 here .

Unusually in the modern era of variably priced “platinum tickets” where fans get little information about set ticket prices, Swift has announced the cost of her tickets in advance. They run from $49 up to $449, with VIP packages that start at $199 and go up to $899.

Swift’s announcement promised that international dates are to follow.

There was an attention to detail in the tour announcement even in the graphics signifying the opening acts at different spots in the tour routing, with Bridgers, for instance, being represented by a tiny ghost, in honor of the skeleton costume she’s used on her own headlining tours.

Not accidental, probably, is how that same graphic breaks the tour itinerary down into two columns of 13 dates each. There will be 27 shows in 20 cities. The venues getting a two-night stand are in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Chicago, as well as Arlington, Texas; Foxborough, Mass.; and East Rutherford, N.J.

The reception for “Midnights” upon its October release left no doubt just how strong the appetite for Swift tickets will be. It had the biggest week since Adele’s “25” album, per Luminate this week, with 1,578,000 album-equivalent units. Additionally, it was announced Monday that for the first time in history, all 10 top slots of the Billboard Hot 100 were filled by a single artist’s songs, with “Anti-Hero” leading the way at No. 1. Fans very much wanted the full album, anyway — of the nearly 1.6 million album units registered for “Midnights,” 1,140,000 were copies purchased in the form of the full album. It became Swift’s fifth album, out of her 10 original studio releases overall, to sell a million-plus copies in the first week out. The figure also represented the best first-week sales for an album by any performer since “Reputation” came out of the gate with 1,216,000.

The “Eras Tour” is being produced in-house by Taylor Swift Touring and promoted by the Messina Touring Group.

The tour’s opening acts expressed their enthusiasm in their own ways, such as the tweet from Muna that declared the group “gay for Tay” and pictured the trio in miniature, resting atop Swift’s lighter on the “Midnights” album cover.

DETROIT — Calling all Swifties, Taylor Swift's highly-anticipated "Eras Tour" comes through Michigan on Friday and Saturday!

She will perform two sold-out shows, bringing thousands to Ford Field in downtown Detroit.

To call Swift's tour a series of concerts is a little inaccurate because it's a three-hour long setlist spanning her 10-album catalogue across her 17 years in the spotlight.

Fans are expected to flood into Detroit in droves this weekend.

Ford Field released a list for permitted items after inspection and prohibited items for Swift's concerts.

With so many people expected to be at this venue there is some concern about parking.

Taylor Swift's two concerts brought 118,661 fans to Ford Field

And each of them screamed their lungs out..

ford field stadium eras tour

Taylor Swift's two Eras Tour concerts at Ford Field brought 118,661 fans through the downtown stadium.

Ford Field reps said Tuesday that Friday night's concert boasted an attendance of 59,269, while 59,392 fans attended Saturday's concert .

In terms of attendance, that puts Swift's shows near the top of the list for concerts in the building's 21-year history .

Garth Brooks is the record holder, with 70,000 fans attending his Feb. 2020 show, although that concert was staged in the round, which allowed tickets to be sold all over the stadium and on the floor. Next up is Swift, as her two shows are now Nos. 2 and 3 on the venue's list, and first and second for concerts with an end stage configuration.

In April, Luke Combs set a Ford Field record for concerts with end stage setups, with 52,783 attending his concert. He toasted his accomplishment on stage during the concert, and it's a good thing he did, because the record didn't last long.

The outlier among the venue's top shows was Kid Rock's 40th birthday party in 2011, which at the time had an announced attendance of 60,000, although a Ford Field rep said according to venue files, Combs' crowd bested Rock's.

Ford Field still has a number of shows on the docket for 2023: country superstar Morgan Wallen plays June 29 and 30, Ed Sheeran performs July 15, Beyoncé is due on July 26 and Metallica will do two nights on Nov. 10 and Nov. 12.

Swift posted about the Detroit concerts on social media on Sunday.

"Ahhhhh Detroit that was so much fun!!" the superstar wrote on Twitter and Instagram. "Thanks to those crowds this weekend for your endless energy and extremely loud scream-singing, you made us feel right at home."

Taylor Swift At Ford Field: Unforgettable Moments From The ‘Eras Tour’

Brooke Elizabeth

Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated “Eras Tour” has been taking the U.S. by storm, captivating fans across the country with her mesmerizing performances. As a dedicated Swiftie, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the second show of the tour in Detroit, held at the iconic Ford Field on June 10th.

This tour marked Taylor Swift’s 33rd stop on her sold-out 50-day trek across the country, following the kickoff in Glendale, Arizona, back in March. The tour had already made its mark in cities like Houston, Nashville, and Chicago, building anticipation and excitement for each new performance.

The “Eras Tour” has undeniably become one of the most in-demand and highly anticipated tours in recent years. Following her electrifying “Reputation Tour” in 2018, which feels like a lifetime ago in the pre-pandemic days, fans eagerly awaited Swift’s return to the stage.

The “Eras Tour” became the embodiment of that anticipation, with Swift’s dedicated followers longing for the experience of witnessing her mesmerizing performances, the visual spectacles, and the emotional connection she effortlessly forges with her audience.

This tour has been a rekindling of the Swiftie spirit. Taylors fanbase is known for its fervor and unwavering support, and the tour became a rallying point for Swifties to come together, celebrate their shared love for Taylor Swift, and create lasting memories. It became a moment to showcase their creativity through homemade signs, themed outfits, and countless social media posts, generating an overwhelming sense of community and excitement.

The tour is aptly named, as it showcased the different eras of her illustrious career. From her country roots to the fearless pop transformation and the introspective storytelling of her recent albums, Swift flawlessly navigated through her musical evolution.

The experience of attending the show extended far beyond the boundaries of the concert venue. From the moment fans gathered outside the stadium, the anticipation in the air was palpable. As legions of fans came together outside Ford Field, the atmosphere became electric with excitement and a sense of camaraderie.

ford field stadium eras tour

Swift’s incredible fan base, reminiscent of iconic acts like Elvis or The Beatles, transcends boundaries and unites fans from across the country and the world. The “Eras Tour” not only brought fans together but also fostered unexpected connections, like the heartwarming exchange of friendship bracelets between the Michigan State Police and concert attendees.

This has not been any ordinary concert series; it’s been a monumental undertaking spanning 50 days of pure dedication to her craft and her adoring fans. With each stop on the tour, Swift has showcased her versatility as an artist, immersing the audience in a whirlwind of captivating visuals, impeccable stage design, and a carefully curated setlist that spanned her illustrious career. From intimate ballads to high-energy anthems, Taylor Swift’s ability to connect with her audience on a profound level is palpable throughout every performance.

The Motor City was just one of those places that was brimming with anticipation as Taylor Swift’s tour made its way to Ford Field. The stadium was buzzing with excitement as folks eagerly gathered to witness the superstar’s extraordinary talent and theatrical production. With a seating capacity of over 60,000, the sold-out venue provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening of music, spectacle, and pure Swift magic.

And as I mentioned, this is the 33rd stop on her journey. The fact that every show on this momentous trek was sold out is a testament to her enduring popularity and the undeniable connection she has with her fans. It’s a celebration of music, friendship, and unity, as people from all walks of life came together to experience the magic of her music.

Throughout her career, Swift has consistently pushed boundaries, reinventing herself with each album and era. The tour allowed her to showcase the evolution of her music and persona, weaving together a tapestry of emotions, experiences, and stories that resonate deeply with people across generations.

The “Eras Tour” established new standards for her live performances, combining stunning visuals, intricate stage designs, and yes, that amazing stage dive and swim, with some flawless musical execution. Her attention to detail and commitment to delivering an unforgettable experience was evident in every aspect of the production. From the carefully curated setlist to the seamless transitions between eras

The show was a breathtaking three-and-a-half-hour non-stop production that left me in awe. From the moment the show began until the final curtain call, Swift and her talented team delivered an unforgettable experience.

Featuring an astonishing 44-song setlist that showcased the breadth and depth of her discography. From chart-topping hits to beloved fan favorites and deep cuts, Swift took her audience on a musical rollercoaster that left no stone unturned. The meticulously crafted setlist, spanning multiple eras and emotions, demonstrated Swift’s versatility as a songwriter and performer, captivating the audience from start to finish.

Swift opened up about her ambitious project of rerecording all her songs from her previous six albums, now known as “Taylors Versions.” With a deep sense of passion and personal investment, Swift embarked on this endeavor to regain control over her music and ensure that her artistic vision remains intact. In her heartfelt speech to us, she expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from her fans.

As she stated at the show, the decision to rerecord her entire discography was not driven by commercial considerations, but by Swift’s unwavering dedication to her craft and the desire to reclaim ownership of her music.

She viewed it as a passion project, allowing her to revisit her earlier works and reinterpret them with a newfound sense of creative freedom. This bold undertaking exemplifies Swift’s commitment to her artistry and her unwavering determination to protect her legacy.

She spoke about how when she released the first “Taylor’s Version” of her album “Fearless,” she was pleasantly surprised by the tremendous response and unwavering support from her fans. She expressed her gratitude for the love and enthusiasm fans showed for the reimagined versions of her songs. This

overwhelming support reaffirmed the deep connection between Swift and her dedicated fan base, emphasizing the shared appreciation for her artistic endeavors.

One of the joys she said in rerecording her songs is the opportunity to revisit the source material and delve into aspects that were not explored fully in the original releases. She shared her excitement about exploring songs that didn’t make the final cut, as well as expanding on original compositions that were initially shorter or altered for various reasons.

Swift’s announcement of the upcoming release of “Speak Now” as a rerecorded album generated further excitement among fans at Ford Field. Her enthusiasm for the project was evident as she expressed her eagerness to bring her vision for the album to life once again.

The opening numbers of the “Eras Tour” set the stage for an exhilarating and empowering experience. Songs like “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” and “Cruel Summer” showcased Swift’s and fierce spirit, igniting the crowd with their infectious energy. The powerful and anthemic tracks set the tone for a night of musical brilliance.

ford field stadium eras tour

As the concert progressed, Swift delved into her vast catalog of hits, treating fans to beloved classics such as “You Belong with Me,” “Love Story,” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” These nostalgic moments elicited sing-alongs and a collective surge of emotion, as fans reminisced about the songs that have accompanied them throughout the years. The familiarity of these fan favorites created an electric atmosphere, connecting generations of Swifties in a shared celebration of her music.

As part of her tour, she has delighted her fans with surprise performances of various songs. That night, she broke out tracks such as “All You Had to Do Was Stay” and “Breathe.” These unexpected renditions added an extra layer of excitement, and she mentioned that she wanted to hear the crowd hit that ultra-high note on ‘All You Had to Do Was Stay.” The track became a fan favorite and a standout song from the “1989” era, and we loved hearing it live.

It was not only a musical extravaganza but also a fashion spectacle. Throughout the show, Swift showcased numerous outfit changes that were not only visually stunning but also reflected the different eras and themes of her music. From elaborate costumes to glamorous ensembles, each outfit change added an element of excitement and enhanced the overall aesthetic of the performance.

The outfits were meticulously designed and intricately detailed, showcasing the work of talented costume designers. Each costume was carefully tailored to suit the themes and aesthetics of the songs being performed, enhancing the storytelling aspect of the show. Be it a sparkling ensemble for an upbeat pop anthem or a flowing gown for an emotional ballad, the outfits seamlessly aligned with the mood and atmosphere of each performance, elevating the overall impact of the concert.

One of the remarkable aspects of the night was Swift’s heartfelt compliments to her fans, affectionately known as Swifties. She took the time to acknowledge their unwavering support, showering them with words of gratitude and admiration. It was evident that Swift recognized the importance of her fans in her success and wanted to express her genuine appreciation for their unwavering loyalty.

This experience holds an incredibly special place in my heart. Despite having photographed and reviewed countless bands throughout my career, this particular show holds a significance that surpasses them all. What made the night truly extraordinary was the presence of my daughter by my side.

Witnessing her typically shy demeanor fade away as she became fully engaged and filled with happiness was a priceless moment.

Seeing her immerse herself in the spirit of the concert, I was amazed to see her embody the same compassion and generosity that Swift exemplified. Throughout the night, my daughter took it upon herself to uplift fellow Swifties by offering heartfelt compliments.

She recognized the shared love and passion for Taylor Swift’s music and wanted to spread positivity within the fan community. It was heartwarming to witness her genuine appreciation for others, building connections and fostering a sense of unity among fellow concertgoers.

In witnessing my daughter’s actions, I was reminded of the profound influence that Taylor Swift’s music and message have on her fans. The concert became a platform not only for entertainment but also for fostering genuine connections, spreading kindness, and creating a supportive community.

She fully immersed herself in the magic of the music, creating unforgettable moments of joy and excitement. As her favorite songs filled the stadium, her enthusiasm reached new heights. With every beat, she sang her heart out, embracing the lyrics and melodies that resonated so deeply with her.

Watching her sing, dance, and have an absolute blast was a sight to behold. The pure joy radiating from her was infectious, spreading to those around us. In those moments, the music became a catalyst for uninhibited expression, allowing my daughter to let go of any inhibitions and fully embrace the experience.

However, the pinnacle of her excitement came when Taylor Swift made her way to the end of the stage, just a few feet away from us. The sheer thrill in my daughter’s eyes was a testament to the connection she felt with her favorite artist. In that instance, time seemed to stand still as she basked in the presence of someone who had touched her life through their music.

The proximity to Taylor Swift created an electrifying energy that coursed through the crowd. It was a tangible reminder of the power of music to unite people and transcend barriers. In that brief encounter, my daughter’s admiration for Taylor Swift deepened, leaving an indelible impression on her young heart.

The joy and wonder that filled my her eyes during those moments will forever be etched in my memory.

According to her, it was undeniably the most amazing night of her young life. From the moment we entered the venue, she was captivated by the spectacle that unfolded before her.

As we reflect on the night, we cannot help but feel a deep appreciation for the impact of the “show. It was a night that transcended mere entertainment, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts and memories. The show was a testament to the power of music to bring people together, evoke emotions, and create a shared experience of pure joy and connection.

When the final notes faded away, and we joined the thousands of happy people leaving the stadium, we couldn’t help but feel immense gratitude for being a part of such a remarkable event. This concert will forever hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of the power of music, the magic of live performances, and the incredible talents of Taylor Swift. It was a night that will be cherished and remembered for a lifetime. I am filled with immense gratitude for the transformative power of music and the opportunity to share it with my daughter.

TikTok artist replicates 21 Eras Tour stadiums where Taylor Swift has performed

ford field stadium eras tour

SAVANNAH, Georgia — Dana Theobald sings Taylor Swift music while meticulously placing hundreds of lavender and purple rhinestones on a wooden frame engraved with “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour.”

The TikTok sensation created a model version of Singapore's National Stadium, which Swift sold out for six nights.

Lyrics from “Long Live” shine in cursive letters along the rim. One of the lines, “Remember this feeling,” is in the center. It's a sentiment Theobald reminds herself of frequently.

“I’m learning how to be present in the moment and not stress over being perfect,” the 30-year-old says. “I’m just trying to have fun. The concerts are an escape for a lot of people. For some of us, it’s one of the best nights of our lives.”

The paint and glue will take hours to dry. Theobald will set up her camera, remove the masking tape and unveil her 21st finished wooden replica of an Eras Tour stadium to the TikTok world she’s taken by storm.

“Before I was making the Eras pieces, I was making sports stadiums,” she says. Her smile shines between each sentence, and she giggles when talking about two of her passions. “I love sports, and I’m also a very big Taylor Swift fan.”

The artist grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts, and went to Boston University to play basketball before transferring to Savannah College of Art and Design. She fell in love with building models, woodworking and studying interior design and architecture. During the pandemic, she invested in herself and bought a laser printer.

“I started building wooden maps of cities,” she says.

Her work table is replete with dents, paint splatters and polish drippings. Organized along the back wall are jars of rhinestones, cans holding paint brushes and shelves holding 100 paint bottles.

“In 2020, my best friend asked me if I could make a Kansas City stadium for her husband and I said I would try,” she says. "It kind of just took off from there.”

Although she has completed many wooden replicas of college and professional stadiums, rugby fields and soccer pitches, she brought her craft into a whole new era — by happenstance — in 2023.

“With the Eras Tour coming to Gillette Stadium this weekend, I decided to make an art piece to pay off my pricey ticket,” she posted on TikTok . The video showed her constructing a replica of the Foxborough, Massachusetts, venue to Swift’s opening number. More than 6 million have seen it.

Mission accomplished. A fan in Boston bought the piece, and yes, it paid for her seat. Theobald and her mom watched Swift in the pouring rain.

Commenters asked her to do the tour’s next stop: MetLife Stadium … and then Soldier Field … and then Ford Field .

Twenty-one stadiums later, she is determined to replicate every sold-out venue and has the process down to a science. She starts with images from Google Earth and traces rows of seats over the complex images. The drawings take a couple of days. From there, she cuts the pieces on her laser printer and stains each panel before grabbing the wood glue and constructing a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

The videos are mesmerizing, and viewers can see how incredibly patient — like insanely patient — Theobald is with her creations.

“The planning takes the most mental power,” she says. “The building part is less time consuming, although I have to wait for everything to dry.”

Each frame is painted in the era or aesthetic that the crafter thinks best represents the country or city. She customized Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City Chiefs colors and added the engraving, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me,” as a shoutout to Swift’s lyric change for boyfriend and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“I like following the tour and seeing how different cultures come together and celebrate their love for Taylor Swift,” Theobald says. She only creates one piece per stop. Interested buyers can email her for prices. There are two still available: Estadio Mâs Monumental in Argentina and Soldier Field in Chicago.

Swift heads to Paris on May 9 and will perform her record-shattering tour in 23 stadiums. But the number of stadiums left doesn’t stress Theobald out.

“I try not to get overwhelmed with how much there is because at the end of the day, this is supposed to be fun and it brings me so much joy,” she says.
