What to Wear in Las Vegas

Las Vegas holds a spot on the bucket lists of party-seekers from all over the world. On your trip to Sin City, you may find yourself relaxing at exclusive pool parties, watching thrilling circus shows, dining at world-class restaurants, and dancing at pulsing nightclubs.

For most ladies who come to Las Vegas for a weekend, the standard nighttime attire is a tight, short, possibly sequined dress. Bring one of these if you’d like to fit in with the crowd, or opt for a more adventure-friendly romper or jumpsuit. Everybody will be dressed in flashy, sometimes revealing clothing, so don’t worry too much about modesty. During the day, you are likely to end up at a brunch with bottomless mimosas, or at a fancy hotel pool (or pool party!). Bring casual but cute daytime outfits, like high-waisted shorts and a tank top or bodysuit. Make sure to bring a few swimsuits as well. Packing for the Seasons in Vegas

Winter – december & january:.

Believe it or not, Las Vegas can get fairly cold in the winter. If you are visiting during this time, make sure that you bring jeans and a jacket, and possibly an umbrella or rain jacket. Winter gets the most rainfall of any season during the year in Vegas!

SPRING – February, March & April:

SUMMER – May, June, July, August, September:

Summer in Las Vegas can get stiflingly hot. This calls for cut-off shorts and tank tops, sundresses, and swimsuits. Pack all of the above, plus airy scarves, sturdy sandals, breezy tops, and comfortable cotton shorts.

FALL – October & November:

Shows & Concerts – A night out in Las Vegas may mean heading to a concert or circus show! Going out to an event is a great excuse to dress glamorously and wear a killer outfit. You can go bold with a super sparkly dress or jumpsuit, or keep it classy with a little black dress. For men, chic slacks and button-downs are key.

Sightseeing – Maybe you’re headed to Belaggio Gallery of Fine Art, or the iconic Madame Tussauds wax museum, or possibly the Stratosphere Tower Observation Deck to catch a great view of the city. When you’re out sightseeing for the day, bring comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes. Shorts and tank tops are great, as well as comfortable sandals and a pair of sunglasses!

Clubs – The rule of thumb for dressing at Las Vegas clubs is to be stylish and sleek. Flashy and gaudy is okay, too. For women, wear a pair of comfortable heels, and whatever dress or sparkly outfit your heart desires. For men, wear dress shoes, nice pants, button-downs, and maybe even a jacket, depending on where you’re going.

Restaurants – Las Vegas is known around the world for its high-class and varied restaurant scene. Don’t be afraid to dress to the nines if you’re headed somewhere nice. If you’re going to a chilled-out brunch by the pool or patio of your hotel, jeans, a t-shirt, and a sunhat is perfectly fine.

Vegas is well known for its nightlife – casinos, clubs, bars, and shows – but it also offers a wide array of things to explore during the day. The city if in the middle of an incredibly beautiful desert, which is pretty foreign to many people.

Check out options for canyon tours and day hikes if you feel like being active! If not, look for great deals on spa visits or opt for a poolside lounge day at your hotel. Vegas also has some great restaurants to keep you well satisfied.

3. Is Las Vegas a safe place for women and men traveling solo?

Yes! Vegas may be Sin City, but it’s not as dangerous as it sounds. This is, primarily, because there are so many private security teams along the Strip. They protect hotels, casinos, clubs, and anyone else who can afford to hire them to keep theft and acts of crime or sleaze at bay. Pair this with an on-point police force, and Vegas is a fairly tight ship.

Now, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take precautions! There are still pickpockets and scammers to be aware of, not to mention the usual dangers posed to women in bars and when drinking. Women should guard their drinks closely and never leave them unattended – the same goes for purses. Everyone should keep their valuables secured on their person, and avoid flashing any expensive jewelry or large winnings (if they happen to score at a casino!).

4. How do I keep my face from breaking out when I travel?

Bring everything you normally use on your skin with you on your trip and try to stick to your usual routine of cleaning and treating blemishes if possible. Dry airplane air, an unfamiliar climate in Vegas – the desert – and all of the eating and drinking most people do while they’re in Sin City can take a toll on your skin if you’re not cautious. Be sure to bring a great  facial toning and hydrating spray , and maybe even a  face mask  or two!

5. How can I avoid overpacking for my Vegas trip?

Before you commit to bringing anything, make a list of what activities you’ll be doing throughout the whole trip. Plan out each day’s outfit, and try to stick to items that can be re-worn and repurposed.

For example, a simple black dress that you can wear during the day with sandals can also be dressed up for going out at night by adding some lipstick and cute jewelry. By bringing multipurpose clothing items (a sort of capsule wardrobe), you can pack much lighter.

6. How do I choose the right bag to bring with me to Vegas?

It’s all about personal preference! A  rolling suitcase  is always a good option if you want to save yourself shoulder or back pain. Another thing to think about is how much you’ll be needing to carry around with you during the day. If you’ll be doing active things like hiking, bring a travel daypack that’s lightweight and can be compacted down into a very small size when you don’t need it.

7. What is the rule for carrying on liquids on a plane?

According to the current  TSA regulations , you are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.

8. What counts as liquids?

Any liquid, aerosol, gel, cream, or paste. This includes contact solution, mascara, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, etc. Keeping your liquids in a separate zip lock bag will make the security process go so much more quickly.

Las Vegas Packing List Essentials: What to Bring and What NOT to Bring to Sin City + PRINTABLE

This Las Vegas packing list will ensure that you arrive with all of the essentials, from sun glasses to comfortable shoes. Whether you want to spend time walking the Strip, seeing the shows or playing in the pool, you and the kids will have everything you need!

I’ve been to Vegas on grownups-only trips and also to Vegas with kids . No matter who you’re going with or what you’re planning to do on your Vegas trip, you likely will only be there for a few days. You’re going to want to hit the ground running, which means you need to know what to wear in Vegas .

You won’t want to spend a lot of time on your Vegas vacation riffling through your luggage trying to figure out where you packed this or that. Replacing a forgotten item takes time away from shows, gambling or whatever adventures you have planned. And, of course, buying anything in Vegas is likely to cost more than it would at home.

1. Vegas Packing List – Clothing

My general rule for packing clothing for Vegas is to pack two outfits per day, one for daytime and one for evening for my husband and for me. Even if you’re not dressing up for your evening activity you’ll probably want to change clothes since what you wore during the day might be sweaty or smoky.

Also, do your homework about the dress code where you’re going to be staying and at any Vegas hotels you’re going to visit.

I pack the same amount and style of clothes for my kids as I pack for myself.

Going Out Clothes

If you’re going to one of the high-end shows, to a nightclub or out to a nice dinner, you’re going to want a dressier outfit or something that can be accessorized to be dressier.

Anything made out of black jersey is my go-to because it’s easy to dress up or down. I found this adorable jumpsuit and a cold shoulder dress on Amazon, both at very reasonable price points. Pair with rhinestone sandals or other dressy shoes and some red lipstick and you have the perfect outfit for an upscale dinner.

Casual Clothes

Dress for the weather. Vegas is hot much of the year but the winter months can bring colder temperatures. Watch the weather forecast before you go. Have at least one warmer outfit. Leggings and a cardigan or jeans and a hooded sweater or sweatshirt are stylish and comfortable. Also check out the section below on gear for adventure side trips for some great layering ideas.

Workout Clothes

If you’re meticulous about not skipping a workout while you’re in Vegas, pack your gym clothes. Not 100 percent sure you’ll actually find the gym? Leave your workout clothes at home.

If you do pack workout gear, a pair of black leggings can do double duty as travel clothes or an outfit on another day. These leggings from Gym People have pockets, which is always a plus.

Undergarments

At least one set per person for each day. I like wicking, hot weather undergarments because they’re more comfortable in the heat. They also dry quickly if you need to hand wash.

I recommend the Ex Officio brand of underwear for travelers – very quick drying. They’re on the pricier side but I think they’re worth it.

Light Jacket or Sweater

You’ll need something to put on inside the air-conditioned buildings. Here are some stylish, lightweight outwear options that will go with multiple outfits. We like:

• Women’s Wrangler jean jacket, various washes available. 
• Women’s open front boyfriend cardigan, various colors.

Bathing Suit

No Vegas packing list would be complete without swimwear. If you anticipate lounging around the pool a lot, pack two swimsuits so you’ll always have a dry one.

Amazon is my favorite place to buy swimsuits. I’ve had very good luck with fit and quality and you can’t beat the prices like this women’s high waisted two piece that comes in various colors and patterns. 

Amazon also carries the CupShe brand, which I’ve never been disappointed with. This color blocked one piece is in my Amazon cart right now.

Amazon is also a great place to go for children’s swimwear:

• Boys two-piece rash guard set . Comes in various colors.
• Girls three-piece rash guard set . Comes in various colors and patterns.

If you wear these consistently while you’re in the water, pack a spare so you’ll always have a dry one.

This cute ladies two-piece suit has a rash guard with a built-in bra for maximum sun protection.

These boys’ rash guards are great quality and the long sleeves work for surfing and other water sports. They’re listed as a boys item but they come in multiple colors and would work for any child.

Bathing Suit Coverup

Bring a nice coverup or extra sundress. The shortest route to the hotel pool might be through a casino and most casinos have dress codes. Plus, they usually are super air conditioned, so you and the kids will be freezing if you try to walk through the casinos in a wet swimsuit!

I have this sleeveless dress with pockets in multiple colors. It can also be accessorized to wear as a casual dress or even out to a casual dinner.

I pack a pair of flip flops (or other shoes that easily slip on, like Crocs) for the pool.

When my kids were younger they wore crocs as walking shoes for theme parks or city breaks. Now that they’re a little older, their Crocs are just for the pool or around the hotel room.

• I swear by Reefs flip flops – I’ve owned two pair and they last forever and can take a lot. They also make men’s sandals and flip flops.

Everyone will need a sun hat. The desert rays can be very intense. I usually pack a wide brim sun hat and a baseball cap so I can have options for different outfits.

I love this colorful beach hat from Amazon and it’s at a super price. If you take a hat like this, you probably want to wear or carry it on the plane versus putting it in your suitcase so it doesn’t get crushed.

Remember what I said about the intensity of the Las Vegas sunshine? Everyone, including the little ones, will need to protect their eyes from the harsh UV rays.

Here are a few stylish choices:

• Polygon frames with pink UV lenses.

You won’t find many clocks in Vegas. Nowadays, most people check their phones, but if you want watch recommendations, here are some great ones for traveling:

2. Comfortable Walking Shoes – a Vegas Packing List Essential

My hard-and-fast packing rule is not to pack too many shoes. Shoes take up the most space in your luggage. I recommend two pairs of walking shoes. You will be walking more than you think. Buildings on the Strip that look nearby are deceptively far away. You’ll be walking every day you’re there and your feet will be happy if you can switch out your shoes.

If you can make one pair of shoes do double duty — walking miles during the day and then pairing with a dressier outfit for the evening, you get a gold star. But that doesn’t work for me. I like my high heels if I’m going to get really dressed up.

This Vegas packing list outlines the different bag options you will need besides your personal luggage.

Yes, they’re back. If this makes you cringe, call it a belt bag.  They’re very practical, especially for parents who need to be hands-free, and they’re less tempting to pickpockets as you walk among the crowds on the Strip.

This pack from Patagonia looks sturdy and long-lasting, if not particularly exciting or stylish.

Looking for something more fashionable? Amazon and Target have more options, like this simple and stylish one from Wild Fable or this sparkly one from Amazon .

Cute Backpack or Day Bag

I like having a small backpack when I’m spending the day sightseeing. My day bag holds my water bottle, hand sanitizer and small purchases. Keep valuables on your person in a secure front pocket.

This lightweight backpack from Osprey is functional and perfect for moms. It might be bigger than what you’d want to carry all day but it can do double duty as a diaper bag if you need one.

I also really like this little foldup backpack . The pouch is so tiny and easy to pack. The backpack is small but functional.

Parents of grade school kids and tweens  – this poppit backpack is sure to be a hit.

I usually use my day bag for this, but you may want an additional/larger bag for the pool. If you want an extra beach/pool bag, we like this roomy one . It comes in several cute prints and can also work as a diaper bag or carry on.

I didn’t include pool toys/inflatables on this Vegas packing list. These are usually short trips and it is easy to get weighed down with extras like toys.

If you really want to pack pool toys, these fun dive sticks don’t take up much space.

Small Cooler

I always pack a small, soft insulated cooler for day trips and to carry drinks and snacks to the pool, if the hotel allows that. Some pools have rules against outside food and drink, but if you can get away with packing some drinks and snacks, this cooler is nice and roomy.

4. Electronics

This Vegas packing list doesn’t include a whole lot of electronics because you won’t need them. Here’s what you do need.

Charging cables and portable charger

For Vegas, I recommend purse size chargers/portable phone chargers. This handy two pack is available on Amazon. It easily fits into a pocket or small purse and bonus – it has a built-in flashlight.

I also recommend this compact charging station for the hotel room. It has four electrical outlets and three USB ports. It’s easy to pack two if you have a large family – or a lot of devices.

Make sure you have one charging cable per device, per person and one power supply per person. Pack an extra phone charging cable that can be shared, just in case. It seems like someone always forgets or loses theirs.

Tablet/Kindle

These are great for keeping the kids entertained during travel and downtime. For poolside reading, I love my Kindle Paperwhite .

Kindle Fire is a great tablet for kids. You’ll often see specials for these during peak shopping times, such as holiday sales or Prime Day.

5. Government Issued ID

Make sure you don’t leave home without your driver’s license, passport or other documentation that can prove who you are and how old you are. Your trip to Vegas is probably going to be a bust if you can’t get into the casinos because you don’t have an ID.

If you’re flying, you won’t get very far without this but if you’re road tripping it, double check to make sure all adults have ID.

6. Miscellaneous Items

Contact lens case and solution.

This handy travel case holds contact lens supplies and glasses. You might find your eyes extra irritated by the smoke in the casinos. Even if you wear contacts all the time, pack your glasses just in case.

Landry detergent

Powdered laundry detergent is easy to pack in a plastic bag or small plastic container. Even if you don’t plan to do laundry, pack it so you’ll have it in case you need to unexpectedly wash something in the sink.

These compact pens are great for spot treating small stains.

Refillable Water Bottle

One per person.

On our last Vegas trip, we used the Crazy Cap water bottle . The cap uses UV rays to clean and disinfect water, which you probably won’t need, but it also disinfects surfaces, which can be handy for planes or hotel rooms.

These collapsible water bottles are also nice if you’re working to minimize space.

Water Flavor Mix-Ins

Flavor mix ins are easy to carry and (usually) healthier than soda.

You may not plan on having a wild and noisy Vegas trip but your neighbors might! These reusable silicone earplugs come in a package of five with a handy carrying case.

Use this alone or in combination with the earplugs. This three pack of silk sleeping masks is great for travel.

White Noise Machine or App

There are dozens of free white noise apps available to download. Here’s a battery powered white noise machine that doesn’t take up a ton of room.

Large Ziploc Bags for Dirty Clothes

I hate the smell of smoke on my clothes but that’s inevitable in Vegas. I like putting dirty clothes into these gallon-sized Ziploc bags to keep any tobacco reek out of my suitcase.

Diapers or Pull-Ups

When I traveled with a baby, diapers and Pull-Ups were the one thing I looked into buying at my destination. They take up SO much room in a suitcase.

If your luggage space is limited, pack enough diapers to get you through the first day and scope out where to get diapers near your hotel ahead of time. You can also look into a Shipt or Instacart delivery for these essentials.

Wipes are for more than just babies – they’re great to do a quick hand and face wash or to wipe down surfaces.

Are you road tripping to Vegas with a baby? Here’s what you need to know. 

Easy snacks include granola bars, nuts, fruit leather, tuna (it’s too smelly to eat on the plane), jerky or sturdy fruit that doesn’t bruise easily or get mushy.

If you plan to make simple meals in your hotel room, instant oatmeal or single-serve containers of soup or pasta are easy to pack. Don’t forget plastic utensils if you pack food you can’t eat with your hands.

7. Toiletries

Your mileage will vary and you may use more products than I’ve listed here, but these are the basics for your toiletry bag. Whatever you use daily, make sure you don’t forget it. While you can probably buy a replacement at your hotel or at one of the drugstores on the Strip, you’re going to pay Vegas prices.

The sun is strong in Vegas. Wear your sunscreen! And bring along one of these sunscreens for kids and babies. Make sure you also pack something to treat sunburn, like aloe vera gel.

Hangover Remedies

Even if you think your party-it-up days are over now that you travel with kids, you’ll probably drink more alcohol than you usually do in Vegas. Popular hangover remedies include Alka Seltzer, Pedialyte power packs , Ibuprofen and Tums.

Prescription Medication

This includes birth control. What happens in Vegas might come home with you if you forget.

Blister Treatment

Band-Aids work great, but moleskin works better. These adhesives are precut so you won’t need to worry about packing scissors.

Mini First Aid Kit

Although the hangover remedies and blister treatments cover many potential ailments, I recommend throwing in some anti-bacterial ointment, such as Neosporin, along with a few other basic first aid supplies, and a handful of cough drops.

These pre-done first aid kits are handy, but I like to put my first aid/medical supplies in a larger makeup pouch so I have a little bit of everything.

Makeup Removal Wipes

You might be up late, but don’t forget to take your makeup off. Add these wipes to your Vegas packing list and it will be easy to clean your face at the end of the evening.

Skincare Regimen

This is the kit I have . It helps keep me on track with my regular skincare without taking up a ton of room in my bag.

Pare down your makeup to the essentials and things you know you’ll wear. You probably don’t need six different lipstick choices for a four-day trip.

I like this set of three bags – you can pick which one to use for your makeup based on how much you wear. The other bags can be used for medications or other toiletries.

Travel Size Hair Brush

Most hairstyles can handle a smaller size brush for a few days.

Ponytail Elastics and Bobby Pins

I am not very ambitious with my hair when I’m traveling with kids, especially if I’m going to a hot weather climate. Amazon has a lot of cute elastics and pins that you can use to create fun ponytails or updos that get your hair off your neck.

Hair Styling Products

If you don’t want to use the shampoo and conditioner provided by the hotel, get some small, refillable bottles and bring your own. The bottles from this kit work great, as do these collapsible bottles. 

Mini Flat Iron or Curling Iron

Heat styling tools take up room in your bags. Most hotels have a hairdryer so unless you’re totally in love with your Dyson, use what is already there.

This cordless mini flat iron is very handy for travel.

Choose one with SPF for max protection. Sun Bum has 30 SPF and even has tinted options .

Feminine Products

Even if you’re not expecting your period, put a small supply (or your menstrual cup ) on your Vegas packing list. Just in case.

8. Packing for an Adventure Beyond Las Vegas

There are lots of options for fun day trips from Las Vegas . Death Valley is about a two hour drive. Red Rock Canyon is less than half hour from the Strip. There are other options, such as the Grand Canyon, depending on how much time you have.

You’ll need sturdy shoes (good tennis shoes work) and outdoor clothing (layers). You’ll also need extra hydration and extra power supply for your devices.

What NOT to Pack for Las Vegas

Here are a few things that I recommend NOT be on your Vegas packing list.

Are you 100 percent positive you’ll be working in Vegas? If the answer is no, leave your computer at home.

DSLR Camera

Most newer smartphones have great cameras. Unless you’re a pro or a serious hobby photographer, you probably won’t use your camera equipment.

An iPad or tablet is plenty to keep your kids entertained during downtime.

Fine Jewelry

Leave your expensive jewelry at home. If you’re married, wear your wedding band. If you need to spice up your outfit, throw in a scarf and some costume jewelry — a statement necklace and a pair of simple earrings that go with everything.

You know how the old saying goes – what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. While Sin City is called Sin City for a reason, with a little planning, preparation and this Vegas packing list, it can be a solid choice for a family travel destination. Have fun!

The ultimate vegas packing list – a local’s guide.

Planning a trip to Sin City? Now that the flights are booked and itinerary is set, the panic is setting in… WHAT THE HECK DO I PACK FOR LAS VEGAS!?

Girl, you are not alone. There are so many mixed opinions on packing for Vegas, it’s hard to get a straight-forward answer! Lucky for you, I was born and raised in this amazing city and know exactly what is and is NOT appropriate to wear.

In this incredibly detailed, 3,000 word guide, I sectioned it by tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes, swim, accessories, and miscellaneous. I know this will seem like a lot of information, but I promise it is all useful with direct links to make your packing list for Vegas as easy as possible.

Okay, enough hyping it up… time for the Vegas Packing List!

Body Suit: A cute and casual outfit to where to the nightclubs is a cute bodysuit, black jeans and a pair of heels. This is what I normally where to the Las Vegas nightclubs if it is not a special occasion! Body suits are so easy to dress up or down and can be worn with jean shorts for daytime sightseeing, black jeans for the nightclub, or a skirt for a nice dinner! Depending on if you are traveling in the summer or winter, just get a short or long sleeve one! A bodysuit is my go-to travel outfit , THE HYPE IS REAL PEOPLE ! Casual, lightweight tops: When you are sightseeing, you may be going outside along the Las Vegas Strip. If you are traveling anytime but winter, it is fairly hot in Las Vegas! I would bring some lightweight and casual tops that you can easily dress up or down with accessories. An easy, cute and casual outfit is a pair of jeans, plain colored t-shirt and a hair/neck scarf! My favorite store for this type of outfit is Madewell ! They have the cutest hair scarves and t-shirts that are SO comfy!

Sweater and Jackets: If you are traveling to Las Vegas in the winter, I would definitely bring sweaters and jackets! Otherwise, you really don’t need anything but a light jacket for inside restaurants (they are cold AF) . Las Vegas is warm year-round, even our winters are beautiful! Jeans : Bring a pair (or two, depending on the length of your trip) of regular jeans and a pair of black jeans. Like I mentioned above, I wear black jeans to the club almost every time I go! Jeans are easy to dress up if you go to a last minute dinner, skinny jeans and a pair of wedges are SO cute! Regardless of the season, a pair of jeans is essential for your Vegas packing list. If you plan to go bar hopping in Downtown / Old Town Vegas (which, I highly recommend) , definitely pack a pair of black jeans and a cute top!

Shorts : It is acceptable to wear shorts to everywhere except nice restaurants. Most of the year in Vegas it will be extremely hot, so you will want to bring a few pairs of shorts. Jean shorts or fabric shorts, both will be adorable! Click here for cute short options .

Maxi Skirt : If you are traveling in the summer, a maxi skirt is your saving grace! It is airy, breathable, cute and SO comfortable! I get most of my maxi skirts from either Showpo or Princess Polly and just wear it with a plain colored t-shirt.

Dresses + Rompers

Sun Dress : Brunch is a big hit in Las Vegas because most people wake up late from partying and want some hangover food! A sun dress or maxi dress is the perfect attire for any brunch spot in Las Vegas. These are also good to wear sightseeing – a cute sundress with white sneakers is not only adorable for pictures but SO functional for lots of walking in the heat! Princess Polly is my go-to store for cute sundresses !

Club Dress: I go into more detail at the bottom of this guide on what to wear to the Las Vegas Nightclubs, but a tight dress is always a safe choice! The beauty of Las Vegas is that you can dress sexy, casual or dressy and still fit in perfectly. A lot of websites like Tobi and Showpo have a full section on their website for club attire. 

Rompers: Similar to a sundress, these are great for brunch, lunch or just sightseeing! If you want to wear a romper to the nightclubs, I would definitely wear a dressier romper/jumpsuit. Something of nicer material or lace would work perfectly fine!

Rothys : Girls. These are so underrated and if we are being honest, deserve a guide all to themselves! These are my number one travel shoe that I NEVER leave home without! They come in multiple colors and I have a pair of the all white sneaker. They look like a Van shoe, but you don’t have to break them in, made out of recycled plastic (so, you’re practically saving the environment by buying these) , feels like you are wearing socks, and the best part…. you just throw these babies in the washing machine and they come out BRAND. SPANKING. NEW. Please, just trust me on this one. Click here for the exact shoe I have !

I wore Rothy’s for the first time in Paris and walked 13 miles in them without a single blister. 

Heels: I would bring a neutral colored heel that can be worn with a few different outfits. Obviously you want your heels to be cute for your time in Las Vegas, but make sure comfort take a big priority! The casinos are large and you will be doing a lot of walking before you even get into the club. Then once you’re in, you’ll be dancing or standing on your feet for several hours. These heels are super comfortable !

TIP: Bring fold-able flats to stick in your purse for after you leave the nightclub! That feeling when you walk back to the hotel after your buzz has worn off, your tired, and your feet are throbbing… you will want to whip out a pair of flip flops to change into. Most hotels will not allow you to walk barefoot, so don’t even try!

Booties: During the winter months, heeled booties are a big hit! They don’t need to have a high heel and are SO comfortable. If you are traveling in the spring or summer, I would skip this one on the Vegas packing list!

Wedges: For the day clubs, wedges are very popular but not necessary. I go into more detail on what to wear to the day clubs at the bottom of this guide, but a cute pair of wedges are popular for brunch, day clubs or even the night clubs.

Sandals: You can wear sandals to pretty much anywhere except for nice dinners and the nightclubs. Yes, you CAN wear them to the day clubs and you will not be under-dressed, I promise you. To any summer destination I bring one pair of black sandals (not flip flops) and one pair of tan sandals. This way, I have something I can easily throw on with any outfit and looks adorable! Bathing Suits: If you are going to the regular hotel pool, you can wear a bathing suit with a cover-up dress, kimono, or just jean shorts. Heck, you can literally wear a big t-shirt over your bathing suit and no one will care! If you are going to the day clubs, I would definitely dress it up a bit by wearing a cute skirt, kimono, or jean shorts with some wedges. Click here for cute swimwear ! 

Kimono : I would bring a light kimono to bring with you regardless if you are going to the day club or the regular hotel pool. Reason is… if you want to grab a bite to eat after the pool, you may need to have some type of top on to get into the restaurants. Click here for a cute and lightweight kimono !

Bathing Suit Cover-up : I would bring a cute bathing suit cover-up or my personal favorite for the day club.. a sheer maxi skirt. It shows the perfect amount for a day club and is so cute! If you look on one of my favorite sites, Showpo , they have an entire section on beach attire. 

Accessories 

Hats : I would definitely bring a sun hat for a few reasons: Protect your beautiful face from the intense sun, cover your greasy / hungover hair, and dresses up a casual outfit for the day clubs! Click here for a super cute summer hat ! In the winter, a beanie is a little out of place for Las Vegas because it doesn’t get that cold here.

Sunglasses : I would bring a pair of cheap sunglasses, especially if you plan to party at the day clubs. A lot of drinking mixed with being tired / hungover from the nightclubs is a recipe for loosing your sunglasses! You can find endless cute and cheap pairs on Amazon. Purses/Bags : A small, cross-body purse is the most popular purse for Las Vegas. It holds your necessities, allows you to keep it on the front of your body to avoid pick-pockets, and is light to carry. I found this adorable rattan bag on Amazon for a fraction of the price of other stores. I have never received so many compliments in my life, click here for the purse !

Jewelry : My only tip is to avoid layered necklaces so they don’t get tangled. I always keep my jewelry very dainty and simple, this way it goes with multiple outfits. 

TIP: Lay out a piece of saran wrap, lay the necklace flat on the wrap, put another piece of saran wrap on top, and then fold it up. Once you’re ready to use it again on your vacation, it will be molded in the same spot and won’t tangle!

Miscellaneous 

Coming for a special event? It is very common to bring sashes, crows or matching t-shirts to Las Vegas! Bachelorette parties often wear matching bathing suits at the day clubs and have the bride-to-be wear a sash! If it is your birthday, bring a sash and you’ll be surprised by how many people buy you drinks 🙂 Click here for a birthday sash & bacherlorette sash! Wrinkle Spray:  There is nothing worse than an adorable outfit that is ruined by wrinkles from your suitcase! Bring this handy-dandy wrinkle spray in your toiletry bag to save yours + your friends outfits! I bring a small, travel sized one on every trip (no matter how long or short) and this thing lasts FOREVER. Click here for a travel-size wrinkle spray ! 

Sunblock Packets: SO important! I recommend these babies on every single “what to pack” recommendation. These sunblock packets are the size of a ketchup packet and will save your butt when you’re out sightseeing and forgot your sunblock! Click here for sunblock packets.

Fold up flats: I already mentioned these above, but I think I need to get my point across a little more. After you dance the night away at the nightclubs, you will have a LONG and PAINFUL walk back to your hotel room. And by that time, your buzz is probably warn off! These fold up flats can be kept in your purse until your walk back and I promise, you will not regret adding this to your packing list for Las Vegas. Click here for the fold up flats .

Vitamins for hangover & hangover preventive:  If you are traveling to Las Vegas for a 3 day weekend, you have to be able to power through your hangover! Or better yet, avoid the hangover all together! I recommend packing yourself a hangover prevention package to save you after a night full of drinking. 

• Pedialyte : drink it before you fall asleep!
• B Vitamins : Take these daily, especially if you wake up with a hangover. 
• Tylenol Extra Strength : Don’t take before you start drinking, but if you have a headache the next morning, make sure you take one with breakfast.  
• And when all else fails… hair of the dog! Go get yourself a mimosa 🙂

Fan that hooks up to phone: For the day clubs or just walking around outside, a fan will be life-changing! It is no secret that Las Vegas is hot AF in the summertime. This fan hooks up to your phone and runs off your battery! Click here for the fan that hooks up to your Iphone !

Portable Charger: In a lot of the clubs and hotels, you will have trouble getting service. Your phone battery may die quickly and you don’t want to get lost, at night, after a full night of drinking. I bring this battery charger on EVERY vacation! Click here for a portable charger . 

Government Issued ID: Las Vegas is extremely strict with expiration dates and fake ID’s. Don’t even try to get into the nightclubs or day clubs (or even most bars) with a fake ID. All bouncers have been thoroughly trained to catch fake ID’s and some will get the police involved if they catch you!

CASH: Las Vegas is a huge tipping city and you will want to have a lot of small bills on you for things like Valet, bellman, nightclubs, tour guides, etc. There are ATM’s all over the strip, but they will charge you a fee so I recommend planning to get cash from your bank before you visit. 

Tips on what to wear to the nightclubs

Ladies can wear almost anything to the nightclub and get away with it. As long as you look nice, sexy and presentable, they don’t care! My go-to outfits are a tight club dress or black skinny jeans with a body suit. With either of those outfits, I wear a pair of COMFY heels or booties in the winter time. 

You could also wear a jumpsuit, romper or a skirt with a top. I would not recommend wearing anything long, like a maxi dress, because there will be drinks spilled all over the floor and you don’t want to drag your dress in it! People where all types of outfits, as long as you look/feel nice, you will fit in just fine. 🙂

Tips on what to wear to the day clubs

Day clubs are far more casual than nightclubs and you don’t even need to wear heels! I normally wear a bathing suit with a sheer skirt, jean shorts, or a kimono. You don’t need to bring a cover-up if you don’t want to, a lot of people go in just a bathing suit. If you plan to go anywhere after (like food), you may need to have a cover-up to get into the restaurants.

For shoes, I normally wear a pair of sandals or platform wedges like these ones . You can wear heels to the day club, but the floor is wet and the floors can be uneven. Just be careful not to slip and fall!

Do restaurants have dress codes in Las Vegas?

This completely depends on the restaurant! Most high-end restaurants located on the Las Vegas Strip will have a dress code. They will likely have it listed on their website, or you can simply call before going and they will be able to tell you.

What is the dress code for the night clubs and day clubs in Las Vegas?

What is the weather like in the Spring in Las Vegas?

The weather is mostly beautiful, but can be unpredictable! It rains a lot during this season and the wind picks up quite a bit. It will be a gamble on the weather, but hey.. you are coming to Vegas right!? 

For the most part, it is in the 70-80’s and cool at night. I would bring summer clothes with a few jackets in case you get cold.

What is the weather like in the Summer in Las Vegas?

HOT. Temperatures scale to over 100 degrees with minimal clouds. You will definitely want to bring light, airy clothes and bathing suits for the pool. Luckily, we have VERY low humidity so it does not feel as hot as it sounds. 

Summer months also have very little rain and wind, making it very predictable weather. If you travel to Las Vegas in the summer, you should not have to worry about bad weather ruining your vacation.

What is the weather like in the Fall in Las Vegas?

October is our best month of the year (in my opinion). Temperatures are between 70-80 degrees, we have little wind or rain, prices drop a little bit and day clubs/pools are still open.

I would still bring summer clothes with a light jacket for nighttime. 

What is the weather like in the winter in Las Vegas?

Winter’s are not very cold in Las Vegas, with temperatures ranging from 50-60’s. In the nighttime, I would definitely wear winter clothes (scarves, jeans, sweaters, etc.) because it gets in the low 30’s. We rarely get snow in Las Vegas and when we do, the entire city comes to a screeching halt because it is so out of the norm!

Do I have to wear heels to the club in Las Vegas?

You do not HAVE to, but most people do wear something with a heel. As long as you have nice shoes on (no sandals or flip-flops), you should be okay. A lot of people will just wear boots in the winter time or platform sandals. 

What do I NOT have to bring?

Every hotel will have things like hair dryers, conditioner/shampoo, and body lotion. If you are staying at an Airbnb, I can not speak for those since they are all different.

Wandrd Packing Cubes

In case you have never used them, packing cubes are little compression cubes that allow you to neatly pack clothes in in order to help facilitate better packing. They allow you to pack more stuff, and to keep it all better organised.

For the longest time, I thought that packing cubes were a superfluous indulgence, but boy was I wrong. Now I never travel without a few. These ones from WANDRD are great quality and excellent value for money. Get them on your India packing list now!

HolaFly eSim

The good news about Vegas is that is has 3g to 5g Internet coverage offering ready access to taxi apps and food delivery apps. The bad news is that non North American SIM cards will most probably not work and so you will not be able to access any of this online goodness until you rectify that particular situation.

You can waste time hanging around phone shops queuing to get a plastic sim or you can simply install a eSim onto your phone before you leave home. You just access the HolaFly site, choose the relevant package, download it and off you go – you are online the moment you land at the airport. eSims are easier to set up and better than the environment than plastic sims. The downside is that not all phones are eSim ready.

Many people think of Vegas as a hedonistic city in a hot , dry desert where temperatures are always scorching. While this is true for a large chunk of the year, Vegas can actually be pretty cold when the seasons change, especially at night. In the winter, it is not unheard of for Sin City to receive a bit of snow. 

Point being, when you plan on going to Vegas will greatly determine what you need to pack. Below I break down what you will need to enjoy Vegas comfortably in both the warm and cold seasons as well as the must-have essentials for any time of year. 

You know what you like to wear so I am not going to suggest that you bring this sundress or that pair of underwear. This list is the must-bring essentials to pack to get the most out of your Las Vegas holiday.

Salomon X Ultra 3 Low Aero

Visitors to Vegas have a tendency to underestimate the amount of walking that is part of the day to day Vegas experience. Shuffling between casinos and bars, checking out the lengthy strip, and exploring the local mountains outside of the city all make the miles on your feet add up. 

I admit that most shoes that are also good for hiking are not the most attractive pieces of footwear. But they are some of the most comfortable and deliver good ankle support for a long day of walking about town. I mean, your body is already going to be suffering enough from all of those 2-for-1 shots and bottomless mimosas you will be drinking, so do yourself a favor and buy some good shoes. 

Plus, the mountains outside of Vegas offer excellent day hiking opportunities, so packing a pair of hiking shoes gives you the option (and eliminates excuses) to go head for the hills when the city becomes too much.

Patagonia Down Sweater Hoody

Granted if you visit Vegas in the summer you probably won’t need to bring this. Pack extra bikinis instead. But from October – April temperatures plummet in the desert and you’ll be happy to have this ultra-warm but light jacket with you. 

It weighs just under a pound and provides an excellent weight to warmth ratio. If you don’t go for one of the super bright colors, it is pretty stylish and city-worthy also.

Any time of the year there is a pool or jacuzzi waiting with your name on it in Vegas. You will be the disappointed guy or girl in the corner if you forget to pack swimwear while everyone else is in the water. Or you might get drunk, lose your inhibitions, and jump in naked with the risk of getting arrested. 

Don’t get arrested for being drunk and naked. Instead, just pack whatever it is that makes you feel comfortable in the pool and a pop a bathing suit in your pack!

Travel First Aid Kit

You don’t need to tote around half a pharmacy, but a well-stocked first aid kit should be in all our backpacks. Stuff happens on the road and it’s inconvenient and embarrassing when you can’t manage small situations like a cut finger or hangover migraine.

You can tuck this lifesaver away in a forgotten pocket – and it’ll be there when you need it.

Tip: Add a few bits and pieces to the first aid kit after you purchase it, like extra headache medicine, any personal meds you need (like allergy pills), whatever you take to calm your stomach and a few more plasters.

Travel Insurance From World Nomads

Planner/Travel Journal

Keep on track with your goals, travels and save those precious memories, especially the ones you do not want to share online. This one is bound in beautiful leather so it looks beautiful and will withstand life on the road.

Native Eyewear Wells Polarized Sunglasses

Have you ever been inside of a casino. There are no windows and thus there is no natural light. When you stumble out of a casino at midday the sunlight is blinding. You’ll be glad you packed a pair of sunglasses. 

As much as you will be inside bars, clubs, and casinos in Vegas, you will also spend a lot of time walking outside as previously mentioned. The desert sun is fierce so don’t forget to pack your polarized sunglasses.

Otherwise, you will be forced to buy $20 sunglasses with “I Heart Vegas” etched into the corner of the lens.

By now, all of us are as pasty as the driven snow from sheltering in place for the last six months. Am I right? This means we are even more vulnerable than usual to the sun’s fierce rays. Packing sunscreen for Vegas may seem like a no brainer, but you would be amazed how many sun-burned cocktail-toting people you see wandering around.

Hanging Toiletry Bag

Another backpacker/traveler favorite for staying organized is a hanging toiletry bag . It’s extremely helpful to have all of your accessories neatly gathered in one bag that you can hang for easy accessibility, especially when counter space isn’t plentiful or even available. A well-organized bag is worth having whether you’re tree whilst camping or a hook in the wall – it helps to have quick access to all your stuff.

Historically, I have been the guy who has my stuff all over the bathroom, so getting one of these things really changed the toiletry game for me. Plus they are not too expensive either. A no-brainer essential. 

Sandals: OluKai ‘Ohana Flip-Flops

Circling back to the footwear question, now we are going to talk about sandals. Whether you are traveling to Vegas during the warmer months or plan on spending time by the heated pool in winter, having a pair of flip flops is a good idea. 

Your feet will be tired and sweaty from those long days wearing shoes so do yourself a favor: pack sandals and give your feet some well-deserved cushion and fresh air. These Olukai flip flops are ultra-comfortable, well-made, and come in a variety of colors.

Security Belt: Pacsafe Money Belt

This is a very practical packing choice for Vegas. Stash the cash you won playing slots around your waist or keep a few extra bills on you for when you go out and keep your money hidden in the process. 

We prefer accessories like the Pacsafe Money Belt because it’s not obvious that it’s being used to carry around your money. It looks like a regular pant belt from the outside, but there’s a cool zipper pocket hidden on the inside for safely tucking away your valuables. It’s genius and does not cost much. 

Electrolytes and Headache Medicine

For some reason, people tend to drink a lot when visiting Vegas.

Having some form of hangover kit is strongly advised for your ‘what to pack for Las Vegas’ survival items. A combination of partying, hot desert weather, and lack of sleep is a recipe for feeling a bit out of sorts the next day. In addition to drinking plenty of water, you may need an extra rehydration boost with travel-friendly electrolyte tablets .

And if the headache is too much to bear, it’s a good idea to have some over-the-counter medicine to help nip it in the bud as soon as possible.

A Hat – Patagonia Fitz Roy Trucker

As you should know by now, the sun in Vegas is strong and you will undoubtedly be spending a lot of time outside. Having a hat on your Vegas packing list is a good way to ensure your face is protected from the sun throughout the day. 

Patagonia makes great hats. I have probably bought three or four of these over the last five years. Simple. Practical. Comfortable. That is what you are after. 

Waterbottle – Hydroflask Vacuum Bottle 32 oz. 

Packing a reusable water bottle is probably the best thing you can personally do to combat single-use plastic bottle use whilst traveling. There is simply zero need to buy plastic water bottles. Everywhere in Las Vegas from casino drinking fountains to the water coming out of your bathroom sink, the water is safe to drink. Fill up your bottle each time and carry it with you when you go out in order to avoid buying water throughout your day. 

We love the Hydroflask Vacum Bottle for its quality and because it keeps cold water cold for many hours and vice versa for hot beverages. This bottle is the ideal water bottle to get not just for your Vegas trip but for daily use. Please don’t be that person buying plastic water bottles. We are all judging you…especially mother earth. 

If you go with the Hydroflask, you’ll probably never need to buy another waterbottle again. 

On top of the essential items listed above, here is an additional suggested checklist of what to pack for a weekend in Vegas:

• 1-2 pairs of comfortable pants/jeans
• 1-2 pairs of shorts (summer/late spring)
• A few pairs of socks
• (Sexy) underwear x 2/3
• Ladies: a few dresses, pants, outfits, or desired lady apparel for a night on the town. Whatever makes you comfy! 
• Dudes: A few collard shirts or something half-way decent for a night on the town. Whatever makes you comfy! 
• Smartphone with a good camera for photos if you are not bringing an actual camera
• Portable power bank for charging your phone on the go
• Phone charger
• Amazon Kindle for reading by the pool
• Aeropress if your Vegas AIRBNB or Hotel has hot water making capabilities
• Copy of your passport just in case
• Cash (not too much, there are ATM machines everywhere
• Packable Towel

The fee’s at the ATM’s are CRAZY so I would retract the “not too much” on the cash. I always take extra just in case and put it in the safe in the room. The ATM’s charge way too much in Vegas.

Vegas is a place unlike any other city in the world. Where else can you go from Paris’ Eiffel Tower, to the canals of Venice, to downtown New York City in just a few blocks? With endless possibilities, knowing what to bring to Vegas isn’t always straightforward. But we’re here to help you prepare and be your checklist’s jump-start to think of the things you may not have thought of! Alright, let’s do this!

Your trip starts on the plane. If you want to arrive feeling your best, prepare to hit the town. Here are a few travel ideas to get you started on the right foot.

− Lip balm, earplugs, hand sanitizer, eye drops

The climate here (as well as on airplanes) is very dry, so be sure to keep your lips, hands and eyes moisturized.

− Leave space in your carry-on and suitcase for souvenirs.

Vegas is almost overwhelming with shopping opportunities, from small souvenir shops to high-end fashion retailers, so you’ll want some extra space.

− If you don’t have an eye mask, get one.

Trust us, you’ll want one for the trip home.

− Buy Wi-Fi on the plane and make reservations ahead.

As long as you’re sitting there buckled into an airplane seat, make use of your time by exploring your countless dining options. If you want to eat where you want to eat, and you don’t want to wait, reservations are a must.

− Bring an external phone battery.

People go through their phone batteries at high speed around here. The typical phone battery has trouble keeping up with a long, busy day in Vegas.

Sure, Vegas has its reputation, but sometimes the biggest mistake you can make is coming to town unprepared. This is a city where literally anything can happen if you want it to, so be prepared for everything, because it might just occur.

− Shoes for walking, shoes for show

We can’t emphasize this enough. Be prepared with the proper and appropriate footwear. Visitors can do a lot of walking around here, from strolling the Strip to hiking the surrounding areas, so you’ll need the right shoes. But then, there are nice restaurants and clubs where hiking gear won’t quite cut it. Pack smart and be prepared for both.

− Think neutral colors to go with your new stuff

You never know what’s going to catch your eye, so some neutral-colored clothing will help ensure that you can wear your new finds right away.

− Bathing suits

Yes, that’s a plural. Chances are good you’re going to want to hit the pool, and chances are even better that you’re going to want to go back again quickly.

− Bring a light sweater or blazer.

You read that right. You might just need a warm cover while you’re here. Oh, sure, it’s plenty warm outside, but the casinos are not stingy with the A/C, so be prepared.

− Your favorite little black dress, something sparkly, and/or the male equivalent

This may be the biggest no-brainer to pack besides your toothbrush. This is Vegas, baby! If you’re going to do it, do it right!

− Sun hat

It should be no surprise that the weather here tends to be warm and sunny. A good (and cute!) sun hat could be your most underrated trip-saver. Whether walking the Strip, sitting by the pool or out for a hike, keeping the sun off your head is key to keeping your energy level up so you can keep on going!

− Advil ®  and/or your favorite hangover cure

Just saying. You do what you want to do (and, of course, what happens here, stays here), but whatever you do, prepare accordingly.

Here’s my list of what to pack for Vegas, since traveling to this city is different from anywhere else.

Packing for vacation can be tough, and if you’re anything like me, I always seem to overpack, yet feel like I forgot something.

Visiting Las Vegas is unlike any other destination in the United States. Between the desert climate, all the walking you’ll be doing, and the need for a goodnight’s sleep, there are definitely some key things you want to pack for a Vegas trip.

You won’t find things like bathing suits, flip flops, types of outfits to wear, little black dress, a light jacket, or a refillable water bottle in this list – I’m giving you real tips about what to pack for Vegas to make your trip as comfortable as possible. 

After dozens of trips to this lively city, here’s my essential packing list for Las Vegas, beyond what you normally might not think of.

Lately this has been my go-to bag for walking the Strip. It’s closer to my body so it’s more secure.

And I love how I can have my hands free for taking photos or holding my drink!

Or when you’re sitting down at a slot machine or table, no need to set your purse down anywhere.

It also came in handy when I went on day trips off the Strip, like horseback riding in the desert and hiking at Red Rock Canyon.

But these fanny packs come in 18 different colors with a cute gold zipper (at about half the cost of my Lululemon bag). 

Chapstick with SPF

Not only is the desert air extremely dry, it’s very easy to get sunburn, even on your lips.

So many people don’t realize how easily it is to get cooked here. You can always buy Chapstick at the pharmacy, but by then it’s usually too late! 

And men, this goes for you too! Sun Bum or Salt & Stone are the highest quality chapsticks that both my husband and I use.

Smooth and buttery!

Nuun Electrolyte Tablets

These are a lifesaver in Vegas. The dry desert air actually dehydrates you much faster than anywhere else.

Combine this with all the walking and likely more extra alcohol consumption than normal, you’ll feel so much better getting some electrolytes in.

Add a tablet to water before bed or in the morning (or both) and you’ll be amazed how well they prevent your hangovers coming to full fruition.

There’s tons of flavors you can choose from (lemon-lime, tropical, tri-berry, strawberry lemonade, etc), or go with the variety pack.

Charcoal Pills

This is another underrated item to pack for Vegas. Activated charcoal can help remove toxins from your body more quickly and that includes liquor.

It can also help with digestion if you’ve been eating too much, especially rich foods.

I’ve always taken one before bed and another in the morning, and I’ve never had a slow morning in Vegas!

Please note that this is not intended to be medical advice, just anecdotal tips from a seasoned traveler. You should always speak to your healthcare professional before taking anything supplements.

Travel White Noise Machine

Another item I always pack for Vegas is my travel white noise machine .

It helps me sleep so much better, which is important on vacation!

Yes, there are apps you can download on your phone, but the noise quality just doesn’t compare to an actual machine.

This would be especially useful to bring with you if you’re traveling to Vegas with kids. 

Small Coffee Machine

If you need your morning coffee before you can function and you can fit it in your luggage, I highly recommend bringing a small coffee machine with you to Vegas.

None of the hotel rooms have coffee machines as they want you to buy coffee from the shops in the hotels. 

Not only is the hotel coffee expensive (even drip coffee is going to run at least $6), the lineups are always long. 

Bring your own coffee machine and pods, and avoid having to get dressed, go wait in line for 25 minutes and pay almost $20 for two cups of coffee.

Add this up over the few days you’re there – not only does it get expensive, it wastes valuable Vegas time!

This Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker is small enough to fit in your carry-on and is a fan favorite among Las Vegas regular visitors. 

Another option is bringing a collapsible kettle , which takes up even less space in your luggage (and works for tea drinkers).

Then you can either bring instant coffee (the Starbucks ones are pretty good in a pinch), or I like to bring single-serve pour over coffee packets .

Vicks VapoInhaler

A Vicks VapoInhaler for your nose is a must have product for Las Vegas!

The weather not only dries out your skin, but your nose too.

At the very least, I find it’s super handy for airplane travel, as my nose always gets dry and uncomfortable after a few hours in the air.

Or better yet, it masks the smells on the plane from other air passengers. 

Comfortable Walking Shoes

This is the number one tip given to people traveling to Las Vegas for the first time.

And while I’m sure you’ve heard this over and over again, I can’t leave a pair of comfy shoes off this list!

I walk upwards of 20,000 steps per day in Vegas, so shoes that don’t hurt my feet are the most important item to pack. 

I recommend the following shoes:

• Comfy daytime shoes/sneakers – these are the shoes I wore on my last trip picture in the photos. 
• Sandals you can walk in for hours
• A pair or two of shoes for evening & dinners
• Foldable flats – these are essential to carry along in your purse for when your heels inevitably fail you! You can also find vending machines that sell these flats.

I’ve seen them at Planet Hollywood and the Venetian. But I recommend packing them with you to avoid unnecessary walking when your feet are killing you. 

Reusable Tumbler

One of the best ways to save money in Vegas (click for all the tips) is to make your own drinks and carry them around in a reusable cup.

This tumbler is super insulated and stands up to the Las Vegas heat, even when the temps hit triple digits.

It comes with both a flip lid and a straw lid and comes in 41 colors!

I’m a YETI girl myself, and I bring this mug which doubles as a coffee mug in the morning, and then an insulated tumbler from my drinks down by the pool!

Bucket , Epsom Salt and Marbles

This might sound weird, but if you have the space, you’ll thank me later. At the end of the day when your feet are tired, try this remedy. 

Soak your feet in a bucket of warm water and epsom salt (while you enjoy a beverage).

Then, roll them over the marbles for a massage – your feet will feel so much better. 

Check out this collapsible bucket .

It’s soft-sided so you can easily store it in your luggage, and it folds flat to take up no space.

It’s so versatile you can use it to soak your feet, do laundry when you travel, wash you feet after the beach, wash dishes and more. 

Collapsible Cooler Bag

One of the best ways to save money here is to buy your own drinks at CVS or Walgreens instead of paying high prices at the casino shops or at the bar.

Most hotel rooms in Las Vegas don’t have a fridge, so bringing a foldable cooler and filling it full of ice is the best way to keep your drinks cold.

And it’s not just for drinks either – you can store your leftover food from the large portion sizes too!

This is a highly rated collapsible cooler .

If you search ‘Vegas’ in the reviews, you’ll see that tons of people have used this one. 

Anti-Chafe Products

There will be so much walking on this trip which also means so much rubbing!

Prevent chafing before it happens and you will be so much more comfortable. 

The Gold Bond Friction Stick is the most used product out there. It’s non-greasy, not chalky and barely noticeable. 

Some people prefer a rub-on balm , others prefer a powder. 

I like powder if you tend to sweat a lot, and this Anti Monkey Butt has added calamine in it to help soothe.

Use it for the thighs, under the bra, undersides of the arms, down below in the special areas and on your heels. 

And men, this product is for you!

After a long day of walking the strip, I like taking my shoes off in the hotel room.

But there’s so much turnover in Las Vegas hotel rooms, I never trust how clean the carpets are.

So I always pack slippers to wear!

These slippers have memory foam , so they’re ultra comfy when you put them on if your feet are sore from walking.

And they come in 10 colors!

Looking for things to add to your Las Vegas Bucket List?

You’ve come to the right place as I’m a full-time traveller and I’ve spent a week in Las Vegas where I had so many bucket-list-worthy experiences.

Visiting Las Vegas is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most people who go to the city.

But even though there are endless things to do, it can be hard to decide what to prioritise.

To help you, I’ve created a list of what I consider the “must-dos” after visiting Vegas for myself.

In other words, I’ve created the perfect Las Vegas Bucket List.

So let’s get straight into it.

Las Vegas Bucket List

All of these experiences are worthy of a spot on anyone’s Las Vegas bucket list. You might not be interested in all of them, but trust me, all of these are incredible experiences.

Whether you do one of them or all 25, you’ll leave Vegas with memories to last a lifetime…depending on how much you have had to drink 😂.

1. Explore the Las Vegas Strip

It wouldn’t be a true Las Vegas bucket list without the most simple, but also the most essential thing to do in Vegas: check out the Strip.

The Strip in Las Vegas has so much to offer. So many infamous hotels, casinos, attractions and other buildings to see.

If you’ve watched a lot of movies, you will likely recognise lots of the Strip. Buildings like the Venetian and the Stratosphere Tower are in hundreds of movies.

It would be a sin (no pun intended) to visit Vegas without exploring the Strip. You never know what you’re going to see either- Vegas is one of my favourite places to people-watch.

But I can’t share any stories, as what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas 😉.

2. Watch the Fountains of Bellagio

It would also be impossible to visit Las Vegas without seeing the spectacular performance of the Fountains of Bellagio.

The fountains go off every 30 minutes between 3 pm and 7 pm. Between 7 pm and midnight, they go off every 15 minutes.

Vegas truly does come alive at night , and the fountains are the perfect example.

They’re also completely free to watch, which is definitely welcomed since Vegas can get expensive at times.

3. Take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon

When visiting Las Vegas, there’s no debating that heading to the Grand Canyon is a “must”.

But did you know you can take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon from Vegas ? Well, you can!

And it should be on everyone’s Las Vegas bucket list.

It’s an incredible and unforgettable experience . The never-ending panoramic views, the thrill of riding in a helicopter, and even flying beneath the rim, and true pinch-yourself moments.

4. Gamble at a Casino

Considering most people head to Vegas to gamble , I think it would be impossible not to include gambling in a casino on this bucket list for Las Vegas.

Even if you don’t want to gamble much, it’s definitely worth spending $10 just for the experience and to say you’ve done it.

Just make sure you gamble responsibly , and as the saying goes, “When the fun stops, stop”.

The Nevada Council actually have a gambling helpline , so make sure to use it if you feel yourself slipping into the rabbit hole.

5. Visit Fremont Street

Fremont Street is the most famous street in Vegas excluding the Strip, thanks to the Fremont Street Experience.

The Fremont Street Experience consists of a mall where you can find pretty much anything, and all sorts of entertainment are taking place.

It’s quite hard to describe. It’s very full-on and if I’m being honest, it’s a bit crazy . There’s so much going on but it’s fascinating to see.

There are even free concerts, free light shows, and more. If you’re looking for a bit of fun, then head straight to Fremont Street.

You can even take a walking tour of Fremont Street if you want to understand a bit more of what is actually going on.

6. Go to a Cirque de Soleil Show

There are hundreds of different Cirque de Soleil shows all around the world, but there’s no better place to see one than in the home of Cirque de Soleil , Las Vegas.

If you aren’t familiar, they are basically circus-like shows which tell a story through music, dance and acrobatics.

Watching a show is on most people’s Las Vegas bucket lists since there are so many different options to choose from.

Whether you want to see a Michael Jackson tribute or a Beatles tribute, you can. Want to learn the story of footballer Lionel Messi? You can. You can even see Disney movies as performances. Cirque de Soleil shows are amazing.

Make sure to have a look at all of the shows and spend some time considering which one to see.

7. Ride the High Roller

The High Roller in Las Vegas is one of the most famous and also one of the tallest observation wheels in the world .

It offers the best panoramic views over the Strip and beyond…it’s breathtaking. Especially at night when the Strip is all lit up.

If you want to book tickets for the High Roller , then I would recommend booking in advance as it’s one of the most popular things to do in Sin City- hence why it’s on this bucket list. These tickets also allow you to skip the entire queue!

It’s so worth it, you’ll get some unreal views and the chance to take some great pictures too.

8. Visit the Neon Museum Las Vegas

The Neon Museum in Las Vegas is an absolute must for your Vegas itinerary. This outdoor haven is a treasure trove of vintage neon signs that once adorned the famous Strip.

Think old-school Vegas charm meets dazzling lights, that’s what you’ll find here.

You’ll wander among iconic signs like the Stardust and Binion’s Horseshoe, each with its own fascinating history.

Like all of Vegas, there’s no better time to visit than at night , so make sure to keep an evening free to visit the Neon Museum .

9. Have a meal at Hell’s Kitchen

Did you know that Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen is more than just a TV show ?

Admittedly, a very good TV show, but it’s still more than just a show.

It’s an actual restaurant which you can have a meal in while in the city, and if you ask me, it definitely deserves a spot on this Las Vegas bucket list.

Eating somewhere you’ve seen on TV is always pretty cool, especially when the food is as good as this!

10. Take a limo tour of Las Vegas

Taking a limo tour of Las Vegas is one of the most VIP things you can do on a trip to the city.

It’s such a luxurious and exclusive experience, it’s the epitome of a Las Vegas bucket list.

But even though it is expensive, I would encourage anyone visiting Vegas to spend the money. It’s worth it.

You get treated like royalty and get to see the Strip in style, with a personal photographer along the way. What more can you ask for?

11. Head to the Hoover Dam

Seeing the Hoover Dam is on many people’s travel bucket lists , let alone one just for Vegas.

And for good reason too- it’s a really cool place to visit with a lot of historical significance .

Aside from that, the Hoover Dam is also just beautiful . The views are endless and it’s a really quiet and tranquil spot to visit. Quite the contrast from the Strip!

Yet again, I consider it a must-do. And there are actually lots of trips to the Hoover Dam from Vegas , so it’s really easy to get there.

12. Visit the Mob Museum

The Mob Museum isn’t your typical museum – it’s a wild ride through the grit and glam of Vegas’ past.

Imagine rubbing shoulders with the real stories of mobsters, bootleggers, and lawmen who shaped the city. From interactive exhibits to legit artefacts , you’ll be walking the gritty streets of vintage Vegas in no time.

Picture yourself trying your hand at FBI surveillance or getting a taste of prohibition-era speakeasies – it’s history that’s seriously hands-on.

The Mob Museum is very immersive and makes you feel like you are actually there. But I loved it, and I’d recommend buying Mob Museum tickets to anyone!

13. Horseride through the Red Rock Canyon

One of my favourite things I did while in Vegas was go horseback riding through the Red Rock Canyon .

I loved it so much and even as someone who had never ridden a horse before, I felt like a true cowboy and really enjoyed it.

Most tours include a meal too, and some even include entertainment. Both are great, but for me, the views are the best bit.

It’s so picturesque and seeing the landscapes with my own eyes rather than looking at photos online was phenomenal.

14. Walk through the Bellagio Botanical Gardens

Even though it’s still quite popular, I would consider the Bellagio Botanical Gardens a hidden gem of Las Vegas.

Imagine stepping into a world where flowers, plants, and art come together in a jaw-dropping display that changes with the seasons. That’s exactly what the gardens have to offer.

It’s like Mother Nature decided to show off her painting skills. From vibrant spring blooms to enchanting winter wonderlands, every visit offers a new experience.

I’ve visited botanical gardens all around the world, but I’ve never visited botanical gardens like the ones at Bellagio. It’s next level!

15. Take a photo with the Fabulous Las Vegas Sign

Let’s be honest, would it really be a Las Vegas bucket list without including the infamous Fabulous Las Vegas sign ?

It’s a staple of the city , and when someone says Vegas, it’s what everyone thinks of (unless you think of gambling…).

The sign perfectly sums up the meaning of Las Vegas , and it would be genuinely impossible to visit without seeing it for yourself, and of course, taking a picture with it.

16. Take a helicopter tour over the Strip

Taking a helicopter tour of the Las Vegas Strip is another exclusive and VIP-style tour to take while in Vegas.

After all, a bucket list is usually filled with things that are once-in-a-lifetime , and taking a helicopter flight like this one definitely is.

Flying over the Strip is indescribable, it’s special, magical and for me, it was a dreamy experience.

The views are even better than the High Roller, and to be honest, just flying in a helicopter is very fun in itself.

But all in all, I can’t not include it on my Las Vegas bucket list.

17. Attend a magic show

If you’ve ever watched America’s Got Talent, Britain’s Got Talent or any other talent shows, you’ll know what magicians always answer to this question:

“What’s your dream?”

Every single time, the answer is “To perform in Vegas”.

Vegas is the best place in the world for magic and illusion shows , and if you’re visiting Las Vegas, you simply need to go to a show.

There are so many famous magicians who perform in Vegas, and the Strip is home to lots of different venues to choose from. You definitely aren’t short of a choice!

18. Take a Gondola Ride

When someone mentions a gondola ride, you probably think of Venice, right?

But did you know you can actually take a gondola ride in Vegas?

Well, you can! Vegas’s canals are a unique way to see the city , but a very cool one to experience. Few people know you can even take a ride.

The Venetian offers gondola rides indoors and outdoors. It’s something a bit different , that most people who visit Vegas won’t do, but for me, that only pushes it higher up my Vegas bucket list.

Who wants to only do the same old cliche things? While they’re great to do and you do need to do them, sometimes it’s a good idea to do something more unique.

19. Have fun at a pool party

Vegas is known for a lot of different reasons, but one of the most fun reasons is pool parties!

There are lots of daytime nightclubs where you can party like never before, enjoying the Nevada sun while dancing away and splashing about in the pool.

The best way to describe the atmosphere at one of these parties is it’s like a festival vibe mixed with poolside relaxation.

A great combo, if you ask me.

20. Visit the Eiffel Tower Experience

Although the actual Eiffel Tower is obviously in Paris, the next best thing is in Vegas!

Vegas’ very own Eiffel Tower offers a really cool experience, the Eiffel Tower Experience transports you from Vegas right into the heart of Paris.

The elevator ride to the top and the view at the top will offer some of the best panoramic views you will ever see.

But it’s not just about the view – it’s the sensation of being in two places at once , all while savouring the thrill of Vegas. You’ll feel like you’ve hopped continents without leaving the Strip.

21. Take a trip to the Valley of Fire

Continuing the theme of natural beauty throughout this article, another really nice spot just outside Las Vegas is the Valley of Fire.

It takes about 45 minutes to reach the National Park from Las Vegas, but again, my best suggestion is to take a tour from Las Vegas .

The tour gives you a complete overview of the stunning national park and allows you to get a full experience of it before returning to Vegas.

It’s like visiting another planet. From fiery reds to deep purples, the Valley of Fire is like a canvas painted by the elements themselves.

And it’s a painting you want to see for yourself, so be sure to add it to your Las Vegas bucket list.

22. Kayak through Emerald Cave

One of the most popular excursions from Las Vegas is to go kayaking through Emerald Cave .

Emerald Cave is a beautiful attraction along the Colorado River, and it’s exactly what the name suggests.

It’s absolutely gorgeous and being fully surrounded by the glistening emerald walls as you kayak through is a magical moment.

Taking this excursion is so popular, that it’s actually one of Viator’s top things to do in Las Vegas .

23. Go offroading in an ATV

Would it really be a Las Vegas bucket list without exploring the natural sand dunes in and around the city?

And there’s no better way than by going offroading in an ATV ( all-terrain vehicle ).

They’re like a quad and allow you to go full-speed over the sand and honestly, it’s really really fun and I had the time of my life. I can’t believe so many people skip the opportunity to drive an ATV while visiting Vegas.

If you were planning to check out the natural dunes, I’d really encourage you to take an ATV tour instead.

24. Spend a night in the Venetian

Las Vegas is home to a ton of Vegas hotels, but one of the most famous is the Venetian Hotel which is known around the globe for being one of the best hotels in the world.

Well, if you’re taking a trip to Vegas, you may as well spend at least one night in the hotel.

A life of luxury and VIP treatment is hard to say no to, and even if you don’t spend the full duration of your trip at the hotel, I’d recommend spending at least one night.

And besides, booking the Venetian is actually cheaper than most people think. People expect thousands, but it can work out much cheaper if you are clever.

25. Enjoy the view from the STRAT Tower

Last but by no means least on this Las Vegas bucket list is to enjoy the view from the STRAT Tower .

The view from the tower is once again, one of the best panoramic views you will ever see. Vegas is home to a lot of things, but I bet you didn’t expect panoramic views to be one of them.

Each view is slightly different, and what I love about the view from STRAT Tower in particular is that it’s the second tallest freestanding observation deck in the Western hemisphere- so there are not many places better than this!

If you want to take it a step further, you could even do the sky jump , which deserves a place on a really extreme bucket list. Put simply, you jump off the observation tower in a harness.

WHAT NOT TO PACK FOR LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas is in the Mojave Desert , so while it can get chilly in the winter (especially at night), it’s a safe bet to leave your heavy-hitting snow gear at home—though you may want to bring a coat, or even a pair of gloves, in December and January. And you probably don’t need to pack an umbrella or raincoat either—the city only gets four inches a year. Las Vegas doesn’t have a big insect issue, so it’s safe to leave the bug spray at home. Finally, since resort pools provide towels, you don’t have to waste precious luggage space on these, unless you’re very picky about your pile.

LAS VEGAS’ WEATHER AND SEASONS

Las Vegas summers are long, hot, and dry. If you’re looking to basically live it up at the Wet Republic Ultra Pool party or wander the Las Vegas Strip in a T-shirt and shorts, May through September are ideal months. The hottest months are June, July, and August—where you can expect at least 90-degree heat every day. This means packing the standard summer apparel for checking out the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign, along with plenty of sunscreen, water, a swimsuit, and a cover-up. For the evenings in particular, women should consider a wrap or cardigan for cooler venues, like casinos, which are known for cranking up the AC. No matter the season, men should bring a pair of dressier pants for the evening, especially if you hope to satisfy nightclub dress codes. As for the winter, the day-to-night temperature differences can feel particularly vast in the colder months (think: 60 by day, 40 by night), so packing layers is a good bet to accommodate chilly evenings and mornings. While it’s unlikely to feel like the Arctic, we recommend that you bring a wrap, cardigan, blazer, or the like.

Should I pack sunscreen or buy it there?

Since you’re definitely going to need sunscreen, we recommend packing it with you. While you’ll be able to find sunscreen for sale on the Las Vegas Strip, plenty of venues jack up the price. Pack a TSA-approved travel size if you’ve only got a carry-on bag, but if you have space in your checked luggage, opt to bring a whole bottle. And, while you’ll probably be more covered up in colder weather, Vegas still gets plenty of sun year-round, so a face-stick, bare minimum, is in the cards for winter trips, too.

I’m going to Vegas in the winter—should I pack a swimsuit?

It’s a requirement to pack a swimsuit  in May through October, when the thermometer hits the 80s, but after that it might not be necessary. Most Vegas hotels don’t have indoor pools (though there are some in spas) and while some hotels have heated outdoor pools or whirlpools, many of them have either limited hours or limited service. As for the famed pool parties , they’re a warm-weather-only event.

What should I wear to dinner and a show in Vegas?

Sure, you can wear your go-to little black dress to dinner at Jean-Georges Steakhouse and Mystere Cirque du Soleil, but why not have some fun with it? A black jumpsuit offers a fun and fashionable take on the LBD. Add metallic heels or a clutch combo to bring in some Vegas razzle-dazzle. The last thing you want to do when you’re in Las Vegas is spend your time hunting down a replacement for something you forgot at home! Finding what you need on the Strip can be difficult and expensive, and you’d rather spend your time around the poker tables or lounging by the pool, right?

If you’ve never visited Las Vegas before (or even if you have!), it can be difficult to predict what clothes, toiletries, and other supplies you’ll need while you’re in Sin City. We’ll leave your outfit choices up to you, but to help you decide what to bring and what to leave at home, we’ve created a supplementary packing list to help round out your wardrobe.

Here’s what you should bring:

1. Good walking shoes

You’ll be doing lots of walking, either down the Strip or inside your resort. Megan and Mike from Mapping Megan and Waking Up Wild share why good walking shoes are an essential item in Las Vegas:

2. Bathing suit and bathing suit cover

Pack your suit into your carry-on bag in case your checked suitcase gets lost. Don’t bother bringing a towel—your hotel may offer complimentary towels, or you may be able to rent one and save the space in your suitcase.

3. Flip flops

Flip flops or slip-on sandals are essential pool attire. Not only do they give you a better grip on wet surfaces, but they also protect your feet from bacteria that hide out in the damp, warm crevices around pool decks.

4. One or two nice outfits

A couple of dressier outfits are essential, especially if you’re planning to go to a club or enjoy some of the fine dining Las Vegas has to offer. Check out our dress code tips for ideas on what to wear . Don’t forget to pack a pair of dress shoes, too!

6. A light jacket or sweater

  It may be sweltering outside, but it’s cool as a cucumber inside the casinos and restaurants. It can also get chilly after sundown. Deb from Aroundusty Roads recommends having a sweater or light jacket on hand:

As for a must-have item, I’d say a sweater or light jacket. Comfortable shoes too because you’ll do a lot of walking unless you stay on a stool in the casino! Everyone thinks Vegas is hot but once the sun goes down it can get quite cool. If you are riding on an open air tour bus the wind can make it very chilly. Las Vegas gets more than 300 days of sun every year, so it’s important to protect your skin and eyes.

Figure Out How You’re Going to Get Around Las Vegas

One of my favorite things about Las Vegas is how much fun and excitement is packed into just a couple main areas of town (The Strip and Downtown Las Vegas), making everything relatively close by. Having said that, you’re still going to need to know how to get from place to place. Figuring out how you’re going to get around Las Vegas should be something you consider well before arriving.

Fortunately there are several ways to get around Las Vegas, including:

• Taxi/Uber – There are plentiful taxi’s and Ubers available in the city. Something you should know, however, is that you cannot hail a taxi or request an Uber on Las Vegas Blvd. (the Strip) itself. You will need to go up to a hotel entrance or shopping center. There you will find marked Uber and taxi pickup areas.
• Las Vegas Monorail – The Las Vegas Monorail is a fun way to get up and down the Strip. Unfortunately, however, it only covers part of the east side of the Strip. It will still save you a bunch of walking.
• Rental Car – If you’re planning to have some adventures outside of town ( Red Rock Canyon , Hoover Dam , etc.), you may want to consider renting a car in Vegas for at least part of your stay.
• Free Trams – Several of the hotels on the west side of the Strip have free trams that run between their hotel and their sister properties nearby. The three free trams include routes from the Mirage to Treasure Island, ARIA to Bellagio & Park MGM, and Mandalay Bay to Luxor & Excalibur).
• Hop-on-Hop-off Bus – Also known as the Big Bus Tour , this big, red, double-decker bus runs a route along the Las Vegas Strip all the way to Fremont Street, with plenty of stops for you to hop-on or off along the way.
• The Deuce – The Deuce is the city bus, and you can use it to get all over town, including up and down the Strip. It runs regularly and is inexpensive, however, it will take a lot of extra time.

Book Ahead For Vegas Shows & Attractions

Las Vegas is famous for our shows and attractions! If there are specific shows or attractions you absolutely know you want to experience while you’re here, you should plan on booking tickets before you arrive.

Not only will buying tickets beforehand ensure that these shows and attractions aren’t sold out on the day you want to attend but booking ahead will save you a TON of time spent standing in line.

Be Prepared To Walk….A Lot! (Las Vegas)

If it’s your first time visiting Las Vegas, it’s hard to picture just how long the Strip is, and how spread out it can be in some areas, not to mention the size of the major casinos themselves. When visiting Vegas, you must be prepared to walk…a lot!

If you’re looking at a map of the Strip, know that the perceived distances can be deceiving. Things can be much further apart than they look on a map. Even hotels that are located next to each other can prove to be a long walk (especially if it’s summer).

Even if you take full advantage of the trams, monorail, ubers, etc. you should plan to walk several miles each day.

The casinos themselves are huge, and often you will need to walk the full length of the property to grab a ride, find a restaurant, etc, so wear comfortable shoes.

One thing that always gives me a laugh when we’re hanging out down on the Strip are the women visitors attempting to walk up and down Las Vegas Boulevard in stiletto heels! Save the high heels for the nightclubs, and grab some comfy walking shoes for sightseeing!

Pack Right (Clothing For Vegas)

In addition to bringing the right shoes for walking, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve packed the right clothing for Vegas. Las Vegas is a pretty casual place during the day, but a lot of visitors like to get dressed up for a night out on the town.

The clothes you’ll want to pack will also be dependent on the weather. While Las Vegas gets blisteringly hot during the summer, it can also get quite cold in the winter. Also, being in a high desert environment, a nice warm day can turn pretty chilly in the evening once the sun goes down.

Even in the crazy hot summer months you’ll want to pack a light jacket as the air conditioning in many places can be a bit extreme. Here are a few packing suggestions for your Las Vegas trip:

• Casual wear: T-shirts, shorts, flip-flops, jeans & walking shoes are a must.
• Jacket: Bring at least a light sweater or jacket, no matter the time of year.
• Hat, Sunglasses & Sunscreen: The sun here is strong and bright year-round.
• Backpack: A lightweight day bag or backpack will keep your hands free while you’re exploring the city.
• Bathing suit: Make sure to pack one, or better yet several.
• Evening wear: Fancy outfits, dresses, suits, heels, dress sandals or dress shoes.

Determine Your Daily Spending Budget (Las Vegas)

If you’ve already booked your hotel and paid for your flight, the next step is to figure out your daily Vegas spending budget. The average daily budget for visitors to Las Vegas is $243 per day, per person.

Of course this is just an average, you can spend less or a whole lot more depending on your personal preferences and interests.

Most people can figure out a basic budget for spending money in Las Vegas when it comes to food, attractions, and shows, but the one wildcard is when it comes to playing in the casinos. Without a daily spending budget, things can get out of hand real quick in a casino!

Sign Up For Vegas Player’s Clubs

Every casino property in Las Vegas has its own version of a player’s club, and you’ll want to be sure to sign up for them if you’re spending any money in the casino. The players club cards are free to sign up for and will accrue points when gaming at any of the properties slot or video machines.

The player’s card will give you discounts at various shows, restaurants, and attractions found on the company’s properties. Even if you’re not gaming in the casino, just having a player’s loyalty card will often get you discounts at the hotel’s restaurants and buffets .

Signing up for a player’s club card usually just takes a few minutes, and is well worth it. Just look for the player’s club desk inside the casino. Also, be aware that the day you sign up for the card, you generally receive perks such as earning double points or something similar.

Tweak Your Schedule to Avoid Las Vegas Crowds

I’ve learned from my travels that people are creatures of habit, particularly when it comes to mealtimes, and if you can shift your schedule just a bit, you’ll be rewarded with some great opportunities!

For instance, between 6-8pm is when the crowds in Las Vegas head to dinner, and if you move with the crowd you’ll find yourself waiting in long lines at buffets and restaurants.

If you can plan to eat your meal a little earlier, or a little later, you can put the traditional dinner hours to good use by sightseeing, and visiting attractions with far smaller crowds (because everyone else is waiting in line to eat)!

Expect The Unexpected, and Be Open To It!

While having a plan of the things you want to do, see, and experience in Vegas will help you make the most of your trip, it’s a good idea to not be too rigidly fixed to your planned schedule. Las Vegas is full of surprises, and you’ll want to remain flexible enough to take advantage of serendipity.

Maybe there is a big convention or event happening in town when you’re here that you didn’t know about beforehand. Or maybe a brand-new attraction has just opened up that you hadn’t heard about before.

Having a plan for your vacation is great, but staying open to going with the flow is key to experiencing everything that Las Vegas has to offer.

More than 40 big-name chefs are located right in the heart of Las Vegas. This gives tourists who visit Sin City amazing varieties of top-notch dining to choose from. Whether you’re looking for casual eats, or some of the best fine dining there is, you’ll find it here in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is truly a magnificent destination when it comes to worldwide cuisines. Food tastes run the gamut from American, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Cuban, Mexican, Japanese, Brazilian, Nigerian, and more. You name it, Vegas has it!

You will be able to find restaurants and food available throughout the city, even if you have allergies or are on a diet.

Like I said above, there are some big-name chefs here. Gordon Ramsey opened up his Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in Vegas in 2012. Other famous chefs in Vegas include:

When planning to dine at a restaurant with a celebrity chef, it is always a good idea to make a reservation in advance.

Know the Vegas Nightclub Dress Codes

Most nightclubs in Vegas have a dress code, and clubs want their patrons to be dressed to impress. If you’re not dressed appropriately, you won’t get in. Here are some articles of clothing not allowed by most Las Vegas nightclubs:

• Sandals or any casual shoe
• Athletic wear/shoes
• Loose-fitting or baggy jeans
• Any clothing that is ripped or torn
• Beanies or hats in general (unless they are considered stylish)

Avoid Las Vegas Casino ATM’s

Unfortunately, the casinos charge exorbitant fees for the use of their ATMs. I recommend that you instead bring cash with you ahead of time or plan to use a credit card .

But if you need to use an ATM, you should know that the average “convenience” cost for an ATM on a casino floor can be anywhere from $5-$10, and this is in addition to what your bank might charge you. The ATM fees can really add up over time if you are constantly using a casino’s ATM machine.

Instead, I suggest you look into using the ATMs found at any convenience store, as their charge will usually only amount to $3 on average. It’s unlikely that you will find any actual bank ATMs on the Strip, so take advantage of the convenience stores like Walgreens, CVS, or Target.

Don’t Buy Drinks at Vegas Casinos

If you’re playing in a casino, the last thing you’ll want to do is approach the bar for a drink. You’ll find that drinking from the bar will be an expensive proposition.

If you’d like to dodge the high alcohol prices, know that if you continue playing, a cocktail waitress will approach those who are actively participating in the games and offer them a free drink.

Watch Out For Additional Fees

Casinos, bars, and restaurants in Vegas will sometimes charge or tack on additional fees that may take you by surprise. Some of the more detrimental fees include parking fees, drink surcharges, and resort fees.

Resort fees are the worst of the lot and amount to charging you an extra amount daily on top of your nightly room rate. These resort fees are for access to hotel amenities including pools, fitness centers, wifi, and business centers, and will be charged whether you use these amenities or not.

Almost every major resort in Las Vegas applies a resort fee, and these fees aren’t always obvious when you’re booking your room. There are, however, some hotels that don’t charge resort fees . Unfortunately, these hotels are usually found off the Strip.

Be Prepared to Tip in Las Vegas

It’s customary in Las Vegas to tip for various services such as baggage handling, concierge service, and room service, as well as dealers, cocktail waitresses, etc. Workers in Las Vegas rely on these tips, so if someone has provided you with excellent service, don’t hesitate to say thank you with a tip.

Your Las Vegas Vacay Checklist

If you want to get the most out of your next Las Vegas vacation, it’s time to step up your packing game. Having the essential items you need for a good time can make or break your vacay, so it’s important to gear up the right way. For those wondering what to bring to Vegas , here’s the ultimate Vegas packing list and must-do experiences for Vegas newbies.

1. Comfortable Shoes

When you pack for Las Vegas , keep in mind that you’ll have some opportunities to explore Vegas in between your planned Sin City shenanigans. There’s a lot of walking involved when going from casino to casino in downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip, so comfortable shoes are a must. 2. Casual Clothes

Wondering what to wear in Vegas daytime ? Casual clothing that keeps you cool and comfortable is a great option for lounging by the pool, grabbing a bite at one of the Vegas restaurants , or trying your luck on the casino floor. Also, depending on the time of year you’re visiting, you may need a jacket.

3. Upscale Outfit

Be sure to consider the places and venues you plan to visit when considering what to wear in Vegas . Some of the trendy nightclubs and upscale restaurants or bars have a strict dress code, and you don’t want to be turned away for failing to look your best. Take this opportunity to go all out with your hottest Vegas outfit ideas .

4. Heels or Dress Shoes

Of course, you’ll need to bring your heels or dress shoes to go along with your upscale Vegas outfits. Just keep comfort in mind and remember that you’ll likely be on your feet more than you know. Your dress shoes and heels should definitely be ready for the dance floor!

5. Flip-Flops

Flip-flops are perfect for Las Vegas for several reasons. First, you need a good set of flip-flops to take to the pool for easy in-and-out access to the water. However, flip-flops are also a welcome relief at the end of the night when those heels are starting to pinch and slide in all the wrong places.

6. Gym Clothes

If you want to keep up with your workout routine in Las Vegas, many hotels have fitness centers with cardio equipment and weights to help you stay on track. There are also several running and hiking trails around Las Vegas if you’d rather get outside of your hotel room and take in the beautiful desert landscape.

7. Government-Issued Identification

While this one might seem like a no-brainer, it’s worth putting on your list of what to pack for Vegas . If you plan to go out to have drinks, place bets at the sports book, or gamble in the casino, you’ll need to have a government-issued ID to prove your age. Even if you don’t gamble or drink, you have to be a certain age to have access to the area.

8. Phone Charger

We’re very concerned about our phones and making sure we have them before we head out the door, but we usually don’t think about our phone chargers. This is why a good charger is one of the items people tend to forget. If you have an extra charger, pack it right away with your other essential items.

9. Bathing Suit

If you’re heading to Vegas, you’ll likely be spending some time by the pool. Whether you choose to check out one of the awesome pools in downtown Las Vegas or The Strip, you’ll need a bathing suit to take full advantage. 10. Pool Bag

Off to the pool? You may find your hands full if you forgot to pack a small bag or backpack. While you won’t need a towel because those are typically available by the pool, you might want to bring your sunblock, phone, headphones, tanning lotion, water, a book, or anything else you need to relax. Having a pool tote ready to go will make your life much easier.

11. Sunblock

The Vegas sun can be intense — especially in the summertime. It’s a good idea to put sunblock on before you head out for the day. You should also take it with you when you spend time at the pool or anytime you plan to be outside for a while. You may need to reapply it throughout the day.

12. Water Bottle

Another essential item for Las Vegas is a refillable water bottle. To feel your best and make the most of your vacation, it’s important to stay hydrated while in the Vegas heat. Also, if you’re partaking in alcoholic beverages, it’s easier to become dehydrated and end up being down for the count by the time the sun sets. You’ll find many water stations throughout the city to keep your water bottle filled.

13. Sunglasses

Did we mention that it gets hot in Las Vegas? It’s definitely worth saying again. Las Vegas summers can be brutal, and sunglasses are always a good idea if you plan to be outside. Protecting your eyes while relaxing by the pool or taking a stroll around downtown Las Vegas is one way to stay cool and comfortable.

14. Hangover Hacks

If you didn’t already know, Las Vegas is a 24-hour city with drinks available around the clock. While this can lead to good times and unforgettable experiences, it can take a toll the next morning! We recommend coming prepared with the hangover hacks that work best for you. Consider having ibuprofen or acetaminophen available and hydrating drinks on hand to nip that hangover in the bud.

15. Chapstick

The desert air in Las Vegas can get very dry. Add some classic Vegas wind to that scenario, and you’re in for some chapped lips. Make sure to pack some chapstick or hydrating lip gloss to keep your lips moisturized and protected.

16. Moisturizer

What applies to your lips also goes for your skin. The dry air, heat, and wind typically found in Vegas can quickly dehydrate and irritate your skin. A thick moisturizing lotion will help keep your skin hydrated and happy. Also, you may need it more than you think after a few hours by the pool.

17. Makeup Remover Wipes

While a good skincare routine is important, it’s very likely that all that will go out the window after a long night of debauchery in Las Vegas. Makeup remover wipes can be a godsend when you want to quickly remove your makeup or clean off your face before you go to bed.

18. Hand Sanitizer

We all know how important it is to keep your hands clean if you want to avoid getting sick. You’ll find many hand sanitizing stations and restrooms throughout Las Vegas, but it’s smart to keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your purse or pocket — just in case.

19. First Aid Travel Kit

A mini first aid kit may come in handy while you’re traveling. They often contain bandaids, pain relievers, antibacterial wipes, hydrocortisone cream for rashes, aloe gel for burns, and more. With all that partying ahead of you, it’s quite possible you’ll need some of these things during your trip.

Las Vegas Bucket List: 47 Best Things to Do in Las Vegas

This Las Vegas bucket list will introduce you to all the best things to do in Sin City!

Las Vegas is filled with everything from incredibly tasty food to brilliant shows that will leave you in awe. No matter what types of things you like to do while traveling, there truly is something fun for you to do in Vegas.

After moving to Sin City in 2023, I took it upon myself to try to find all of the best things to add to a Las Vegas bucket list because, let’s be honest, there’s so much to do here that it’s impossible to do it all.

Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas

Who needs Paris when you can eat classic French cuisine in an imitation of the Eiffel Tower? Okay, we might still need Paris , but the Las Vegas version is a pretty good second.

Reserve brunch, dinner, or a private party for a lavish experience in one of Las Vegas’s finest restaurants, the  Eiffel Tower Restaurant .

Hell’s Kitchen

We’ve all heard, uh, I mean seen , Gordon Ramsey when he’s in the kitchen. His passion is pretty much palpable. 

Las Vegas houses  Hell’s Kitchen , Gordon Ramsey’s high-end restaurant experience. Tasting the products of Ramsey’s endless knowledge and enthusiasm in his trade is something you don’t want to miss, so add it to your Las Vegas bucket list.

When I moved to Vegas, I knew that the #1 celebrity chef restaurant I wanted to try was Hell’s Kitchen. In fact, Jessie and I made an entire day out of it and even saw Adele at the Colosseum after!

Be sure to try the traditional Beef Wellington (yes, it really is worth trying). For dessert, you really can’t miss with the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It’s Gordon’s mom’s recipe, and I still dream about how good it is.

El Burro Borracho

Another big name in the chef world, Guy Fieri, established  El Burro Borracho , or The Drunk Donkey, here in Vegas. 

A restaurant native only to Nevada, El Burro Borracho offers hefty, California-style portions of your favorite Mexican food. And, of course, a full drink menu. It isn’t called the Drunk Donkey for nothing!

The Crack Shack

The Crack Shack  has an unorthodox take on classic chicken dishes, and we are loving it in Las Vegas. 

They have a large menu so you can experience their chicken in your preferred form, fried, in a sandwich, or in a bowl with other delicious ingredients. Be sure to grab some of their specialty sauces and pair your meal with a milkshake!

And all top of all that, they purchase their ingredients entirely from local farms and bakeries, putting their revenue right back into the city we all love so much.

Bobby’s Burgers

Now, if Burger Bar wasn’t really your speed and you’re looking for the classic diner feel,  Bobby’s Burgers  is the right restaurant for you. Savor the classic American meal this restaurant offers while enjoying the familiar diner demeanor.

Bobby’s Burgers is a family-friendly option with no alcohol on the menu. Jessie and I have personally tried the BBQ Smokehouse Burger at the location in the Paris Hotel and absolutely loved it!

Rollin Smoke BBQ

Get a taste of authentic Southern barbeque at the  Rollin Smoke BBQ  in Vegas. With every barbeque plate you could ask for on the menu, Rollin Smoke serves the locals and tourists in the city with that warm Southern charm.

Wynn Buffet

The  Wynn Buffet  has a gourmet spread for almost any time of the day. Serving breakfast, brunch, and dinner, this restaurant cultivates never-ending alluring dishes for their guests. Perfect for a large group of people.

There’s always a huge argument among locals and tourists alike about which hotel/casino has the top buffet, but ever since about 2021, everyone’s in agreement that it’s the Wynn Buffet!

Have you been looking for the ultimate brunch spot to go with the girls? Try out  Cafe Lola . A candidly Instagram-worthy cafe. They offer a variety of delicate and aesthetic dishes for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dessert. 

They also have an entire drink menu to go along with their whimsical dishes. Coffee, tea, cold drinks, and wine are all available for purchase. This cafe also has kids’ options for both food and drinks.

Every time we go, we always order the same drinks: I always get a cupcake latte, and Jessie orders the 24k gold creme brulee latte. We’ve been for both breakfast and lunch and their prosciutto grilled cheese and tomato soup is some of the best we’ve had here in Vegas!

Cut by Wolfgang Puck

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck brings Vegas an epicurean steak house in the Palazzo Resort. The menu at  Cut by Wolfgang Puck  offers every cut of steak you can imagine, cooked to perfection with the finest ingredients.

A luxuriant ambiance accompanies the meal, making for the perfect ‘fancy dinner date’. It’s a great place to take your partner!

Bungalow Coffee Co.

There are so many great cafes in Las Vegas, but none really live up to the amazingness that is Bungalow Coffee Co . This cafe is a remote worker’s dream, with a lot of tables conveniently located next to plugs throughout.

Situated in the Arts District of Vegas, Bungalow offers a variety of tasty coffees and food that pair well with it. We love going here to get some work done when we feel like getting out of the house. For a real treat, try their oat milk apple pie chai latte.

Located in the Venetian, the  Black Tap  is another restaurant with a vast menu with choices of burgers, wings, salads, and more. 

But the real reason you want to visit this establishment is for their coined term, Crazyshakes. I would suggest just going to see these for yourself because, honestly, you might not believe me if I told you all that these entailed. But I can tell you one thing: they are worth the trip.

3 Little Chicks

The founders of Cafe Lola ventured into starting an all-new chicken restaurant in 2023, 3 Little Chicks , and it should 100% be on your Las Vegas bucket list. The food here is top-notch, and even though the menu isn’t super large, what they make, they make well .

My personal favorite item on the menu is the sweet potato fries. They’re so tasty and have honey and cinnamon on top! No matter what you order here, you can’t go wrong, and it’s well worth the drive, no matter where in Vegas you are.

Las Vegas Sign

We’ve all seen pictures of the Las Vegas sign. But why should you visit it? Photo ops, of course!

I’m kidding, sort of, but this sign actually has a remarkable history. This infamous landmark was designed in 1959 by one of the first women artists in the neon sign industry, Betty Willis. She then donated her $4,000 payment to her hometown.

The fabulousness of the sign doesn’t stop there; the neon lights are powered by solar power, making the Fabulous Las Vegas Sign an environmentally friendly icon.

Just know that no matter when you go, you’ll most likely have to wait in line to get your photo. If you want the photo, it’s worth it!

The Big Apple Coaster

Another destination that should be on your Las Vegas bucket list is the  Big Apple Roller Coaster  in the New York New York.

This ride made history by being the world’s first coaster to build in a 180-degree “heartline” twist. This is the perfect attraction for thrill-seekers visiting Vegas and is one of the more unique things to do in Vegas on the southern side of the Strip.

Bellagio Fountain Show

Bellagio offers visitors more than just a place to stay and a run-of-the-mill casino. You can stop and see the iconic fountain show any weekday from 3 pm to midnight and any weekend from 12 pm to 12 am.

The illuminated water provides a mesmorizing display for viewers. And the best part is, it’s completely free!

Red Rock Canyon

I know, I know, you probably came to Vegas for the nightlife, but if you’re looking to switch it up, just outside the city is an enchanting hidden gem. In fact, it’s very large and very red. It’s  Red Rock Canyon !

Trekking through these red-lined canyons will show you the beauty you never knew the desert could offer. Look for wildlife while enjoying the vibrant hues of the plant life within the flaming canyon walls.

The Venetian gondola ride

If you’ve dined at the Eiffel Tower and ridden the Big Apple Coaster around the New York New York, then the obvious next step would be to get a little taste of Italy while taking a gondola ride around the Venetian.

Enjoy a romantic ride under bridges and around cafes on the Grand Canal. If you’re lucky, your gondolier may even serenade you!

Helicopter tour above Vegas

You know everything looks better from above, so a  helicopter ride over Las Vegas  is a must. Go at night to see the city all lit up, or go during the day and have your pilot take you down to the Grand Canyon.

High Roller at the LINQ

Riding the High Roller is a one-of-a-kind experience that kicks the traditional Ferris wheel ride up a few notches. This 550-foot wheel is the second-tallest Ferris wheel in the world, and it takes 30 minutes to complete a singular rotation. 

Bring your family for an educational ride to learn about the architecture of the High Roller, or bring your friends for a Happy Half Hour ride with an open bar and bartender.

Seven Magic Mountains

The Seven Magic Mountains is a landmark about 25 miles away from Las Vegas, as quirky as the city itself. Where else are you going to find seven towering rainbow-colored stacks of rocks?

Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone created this larger-than-life piece to symbolize human presence in the middle of the desert. The electrifying colors puncture the browns and reds of the Nevada desert for an unparalleled sight.

This place is another spot that’s usually always busy, but trust me when I say you have to see this place for yourself at least once. It really stands out against the desert landscape!

An Engineering Wonder of America, Hoover Dam was the largest dam built during its time. A product of the Depression, the Hoover Dam was made with enough concrete to build a road from San Francisco to New York City. 

You can visit the dam, take a tour, learn some fascinating history, and make some good ‘dam’ jokes. I’ve personally taken the tour and it is really cool to take an elevator 100 floors deep to see everything behind the scenes!

Valley of Fire State Park

Similar to the geography in Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire is another striking natural wonder full of red rock formations. Located a little further away from Las Vegas, this sandstone park is less crowded than Red Rock Canyon.

The red sandstone spans a greater area than Red Rock Canyon, illuminating the valley, especially during sunset. That golden hour gives the park its name. In the setting sun, the entire valley appears as if it was set on fire.

Parts of Valley of Fire do close in the summer because of how hot it gets in Vegas, but if you’re lucky enough to visit during winter, you can easily do most of the hikes in one day.

Zipline at the LINQ

Another attraction for thrill seekers is the Fly LINQ , which ends at the High Roller. Get a group of friends, and you can all ride down next to each other. Plummet (safely) off of a 12-story building and zip down over the Strip.

Entertainment & Shopping

Area 15  is an up-and-coming entertainment district in Las Vegas. Containing a plethora of attractions, events, restaurants, and more, Area 15 can transport its visitors to other worlds.

Visit places like Omega Mart and the Beast restaurant and so many more for a bizarre adventure into the “What’s Next?” district. I’m on a personal mission to visit all of the Meow Wolf locations, and the Omega Mart one was truly spectacular.

The top of the Stratosphere offers a few different rides, but by far, the most exhilarating is the  Big Shot . This ride adds 160 feet to the top of the already sky-high tower. 

Once you’re strapped in, you await being shot up at 45 miles per hour. If you can keep your eyes open, you will see an incomparable view of the Entertainment Capital of the World. 

Fremont Street

Advertised as one of the most exciting streets in America, the Fremont Street experience lives up to its name. With live music, events, casinos, and more happening all throughout the five-block-long street, there is something to see everywhere you turn. 

Your Las Vegas bucket list is not complete without Fremont Street. Be sure to also stop by Container Park; this is one of my favorite hidden gems and there are so many quirky shops to explore.

Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

Every season, Bellagio’s highly accomplished engineering and horticulture team creates a new display for visitors to enjoy at the  Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens .

The 14,000-foot garden is transformed into something different for every occasion. This whimsical attraction definitely deserves a visit.

Shark Reef Aquarium

Aquariums are magical places for children and adults alike. The cool blue hues that bounce off the glass tanks make you feel like you’ve been transported to another underwater world.

The Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay Casino is no exception. It houses more than 2,000 animals, and yes, as the name suggests, that includes sharks. You can even feed them! 

So don’t forget to stop by and see these rare creatures swimming around in the third-largest tank in North America next time you’re in Vegas.

The Coca-Cola Store

If you’re a fan of Coca-Cola products, be sure to stop by the Coca-Cola store when you’re exploring the Strip. This store has endless merchandise, products, and sights any fan would love. And it can’t hurt to get a little caffeine for the rest of your night on the Strip.

Should you be feeling adventurous, be sure to order their flight from around the world, where you can try worldwide Coke flavors. This is super fun to do with a group of friends! Be sure not to look up the flavors ahead of time, as it’s fun just finding out if you like them when you get there.

Walk through the casinos

As the gambling capital of the United States, Las Vegas has numerous casinos with their own unique personalities. Walk around and find the one that best fits your ideal Vegas experience!

Some stand out ones that I love include:

• New York New York (styled after 1940s NYC)
• The Venetian (feels like you’re in Venice!)
• Resorts World (there’s so many good restaurants here)
• The Strat (This one is so underrated and has the best views in Vegas)

STRAT Observation Deck

If you’re not comfortable hanging off the edge of the Stratosphere on the rides, then the observation deck is the place for you. Day or night it’s a noteworthy sight!

FlyOver Vegas

Vegas’s newest addition gives another way to experience places all over the world. Strap in and a 52.5-foot spherical screen will take you through the natural wonders of Iceland or ride with the cowboys in the wild west. 

FlyOver Vegas  should definitely be added to any thrill seeker’s Las Vegas bucket list.

Blue Man Group

Blue Man Group is a concert like you’ve never experienced before. Las Vegas is the only place you’re going to find a group of men painted blue playing music on colorfully illuminated pvc pipes. You’re in for a night of unique music and comedy.

See a Vegas residency

Many artists from all around the world come to host a Las Vegas residency, usually for a few months. These over-the-top shows are truly legendary.

See one of your favorite artists in style by attending a residency!

I’ve had the joy of seeing Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Adele for their residencies. You really can’t go wrong with any residency show here.

Grand Canal Shoppes

Check out this extravagant mall for exclusive finds and a first-rate shopping experience. Styled after Venice, there’s so many fun things to look at throughout the Grand Canal Shoppes.

Eiffel Tower light show

Fashioned after the original lighting in France, Las Vegas’s Eiffel Tower provides a free light show every 30 minutes from sundown to midnight. It’s impossible to miss if you find yourself in the central part of the Strip.

Cirque du Soleil

A modern take on the classic circus gig we know so well,  Cirque du Soleil  provides Vegas with a number of fantastical shows. Watch riveting performances full of fight scenes, props, and romance. This is a theatrical masterpiece worth seeing.

I’ve personally gone to see both “O” and “Mad Apple,” and they are both iconic. Mad Apple is hilarious and is NYNY, while O is a great water show right at the Bellagio.

Dream Racing

Pretending to be a racecar driver has been everyone’s dream at one point in time. At the  Las Vegas Motor Speedway , you can make that dream reality.

Get behind the wheel of your favorite supercar and live out your childhood dream; why would this not be on your Las Vegas bucket list?

The Neon Museum

The  Neon Museum  takes you right back in time to the classic Las Vegas age. Here, you’ll see iconic signs from famous casinos and restaurants in an eccentric, unforgettable fashion.

The Mob Museum

Discover the fascinating connections to organized crime and American history at Las Vegas’s  Mob Museum . 

Everybody’s seen men in pinstripe suits and hats but what role did they play in the America we live in today? What were some of the biggest crimes committed, and how did our country’s law enforcement put an end to them?

Uncover answers to these questions and more in this captivating museum.

Nostalgia Street Rods Museum

If you’re a classic car junkie, the  Nostalgia Street Rods Museum  should be on your Vegas bucket list. Book a tour and access a private car collection dating from 1910 to 1984. 

There are also many other items to see as well, such as signed memorabilia from Kobe Bryant, items signed by musicians like Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Presley, and more.

Pinball Hall of Fame

To add to Las Vegas’s offbeat attractions, the  Pinball Hall of Fame  was opened in 2021. This is the world’s largest Pinball collection. 

Machines can be found from the 1950s up to the 1990s. And every single one is able to be played on with just a couple of quarters.

Nevada State Museum

Now you may think, what is there to know about Nevada besides Las Vegas and the desert? But the state actually has a rich anthropological and natural history. 

The  Nevada State Museum  provides visitors an interactive experience to learn all about Silver State history.

The Movie Prop Experience

Come see props from your favorite movies at the  Movie Prop Experience  on Fremont Street. You’ll find props from movies like Harry Potter, the Marvel Universe, and so many from the classics.

Super fun for the whole family, and kids get in free.

Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art

Bellagio presents its fine art gallery for art lovers from all over to enjoy in the  Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art . You can always check their website to see the current exhibition.

Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds  presents an all too real wax figure museum where you can walk around and find your favorite celebrities. Come appreciate the eerie ability of artists to capture these faces in wax.

Titanic Artifact Exhibit

Admit it; we’ve all wished we could walk down those elegant stairs as Rose does in the ‘Titanic.’ 

Las Vegas’s  Titanic Artifact Exhibit  in the Luxor gives you the opportunity to feel like you’re right there on the ship. Walk through the recreated rooms and check out over 250 artifacts found in the wreckage. This should be at the top of your Las Vegas bucket list.

What to Pack For Vegas | Outfit Inspo and Must-Haves

Viva Las Vegas! That’s what the locals say, right? 😉 I just got back from a fabulous trip to Sin City for the Adele residency at Caesar’s Palace. And I’m already trying to plan my next trip back west! But before you pack your bags , it’s important to make sure you’ve got all the essentials for looking 10/10 on the Strip. I’ve been to Vegas more times than I can count at this point and each experience has been different. It’s loads of fun and what you make of it, but you’ve got to be prepared for what it can throw at you!

Planning out what to pack for vegas can be stress-inducing. Extreme weather, last-minute tickets to a jaw-dropping show, and what do you wear during the day?! From show-stopping outfits to comfortable shoes, I’ve got you covered for your next girl’s trip, couple’s getaway, or even solo adventure to Las Vegas, Nevada. But let me first go over the differences between the time of year you’re planning to travel.

What to Pack for Winter in Vegas

Shop My Vegas Packing List

Before this trip, I had only visited Vegas when it was warm and sunny. I (incorrectly) assumed it may be cold but it couldn’t be that bad. Whoops! We touched down at Harry Reid International Airport to a snowstorm in the desert. So always be prepared!

The great news is that most of your activities in the city are inside the sprawling hotel and resort properties. On night one, I was scared I’d be too cold to rock the multicolored dress. After heading to our restaurant at the Venetian, I was so mad at myself for going with a sweater. It was comfortably warm and toasty inside! If you plan on exploring other properties or attending a show, just make sure to pack a light coat! It’ll be easy to carry around the casinos and should be more than enough for the brief times outside.

If you’re planning on a few adventurous excursions to the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, or Red Rock, pack accordingly. Take it from me, desert weather can change on a dime. So go ahead and add that rain jacket, long-sleeve tee, and pair of athletic shoes to your suitcase.

What to Pack for Vegas: Style Inspo

The typical weather in Las Vegas is sunny, dry, and hot, hot, hot! Lighter clothing options are a MUST if you don’t want heat stroke or constant sweating. And of course, Vegas is known for getting a little GLAM, darling. Bring out the sparkles, feathers, and all the extra outfits you’ve been saving. Let’s break down what you’ll need for any time of year on the Vegas Strip.

Bar/Club/Dinner outfits:

You’ll probably be dining in at least one swanky restaurant. So this is your time to shine! Don’t worry if dresses aren’t your thing, too. This ASOS top was essential for Vegas nightlife. I love the cowl neck design, and sequins are a must-have. I styled this look with these hot magenta pants (similar linked here) and these clear strap heels from Nordstrom! Not a pink girl? The top comes in bronze, too!

I am absolutely obsessed with this jumpsuit from ASOS! The pearls are such a unique addition, and the velvet material gives it a luxurious feel. I styled this look with a pair of black platforms to let the jumpsuit speak for itself! Despite the slightly heavier material, I think it’d be fine year-round inside the hotels.

Walking Shoes to Pack For Vegas:

When it comes to packing for a trip to Las Vegas, don’t forget about your feet! With so much to see and do on the Strip, it’s essential to pack comfortable walking shoes. One of the biggest misconceptions for a first-time Vegas tourist is the idea that the hotels are “close together.” However, with some of the biggest resort properties in the world on the BLVD, be prepared to get those steps in. Plus, with so many stylish options available, you don’t have to sacrifice fashion for comfort. Opt for trendy sneakers or slip into some comfy sandals that will take you from day to night. From exploring lavish hotels to dancing the night away, your feet will thank you for choosing the right footwear.

Casual Daytime Looks:

Put away the feather boa. People keep it nice and casual for daytime activities. For starters, a solid pair of jeans will be your savior when you want something that’s still cute, but not super dressy for shopping on the strip. Pair with a distressed graphic tee, breezy tank, or slimming body suit to keep it simple. I packed sweaters since I went in February, but definitely add at least a light jacket for Vegas evenings! In the desert, the temperature can swing from hot to cold faster than you can say “Helloooo, it’s me.”

9 months out of the year, you’ll be able to enjoy the sprawling pools in Vegas. In fact, pool parties are a huge draw to some of these resorts! They’re stacked with famous DJs and celebs to keep the entertainment going no matter where you are. Even if you’re not up for partying, pack it along for spa days. With some of the best spa experiences in the world, it’s definitely worth booking a couple’s massage while visiting.

Bling-Bling Vegas Accessories:

I made sure to pack some adorable pieces that felt ‘Vegas’ to accessorize with because they will totally elevate any outfit! This super cute clear, pink bag is perfect for a night out on the town. You can rock this glitter clutch with a removable chain that will have you shining all night long. How perfect is that? And, let’s not forget about jewelry! You can make a statement with these gorgeous chandelier earrings or keep it classic with a simple gold hoop . Either way, these accessories are essential for turning heads and making unforgettable memories in Sin City.

Miscellaneous Items to Pack for Vegas:

Packing a portable fan is a must-have for staying cool during those scorching Vegas days. You’ll also want a pair of disposable earplugs   in case of noisy neighbors! Want to snap some pics of all the fun? Ditch the DSLR and go with a disposable camera. The photos will fit the *Vegas vibes* and it’s easier to carry around! In order to stay hands-free on the go, opt for a belt bag and stash a portable phone battery inside.

Health + Beauty Items Must-Haves for Vegas

Sunscreen is a definite must to protect that gorgeous skin of yours with all that sun. Plus, we all know that Vegas nights can lead to wild adventures and a little bit of dehydration. That’s why packing some travel-sized Liquid IV , Emergen-C , Advil, and a refillable water bottle is a total game-changer. And finally, a trip to Vegas can get expensive quickly. I recommend packing your fave snacks for the time in between meals so you don’t have to spend more money!

THE ULTIMATE ITINERARY FOR A 4-DAY VEGAS TRIP

Cheers to my first travel blog post of 2024! We recently got back from a quick trip to kick off the new year, and I am feeling so refreshed and excited for the year ahead!

We decided to go big or go home this year and decided on a quick couples’ trip to Vegas! We’ve been a couple of times now and it’s always so much fun. In an ideal world, we would do this trip every single year, but it had been 3 years since we’ve gone to Vegas before this past trip, so hopefully, we can work up to that😅

We love Vegas because it’s so lively, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere of being in such a busy place is unlike anything we are used to in our daily life in Austin. There really is SO much to do, it can almost be a bit overwhelming, so I wanted to round up some of our favorite spots in Vegas into the ultimate 4-Day Vegas Trip Itinerary if you are planning a quick trip with your spouse or a girlfriend and want to make the most of it! Keep reading for my Vegas must-sees, must-dos, and must-wears 😂

1pm Aria Couples Massage — is there anything better than a couples’ massage to kick off the new year?! The one we get at Aria truly can’t be beat. The location is gorgeous and so relaxing – Nick and I both left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and ready to live it up for the rest of our trip!

5pm Dinner at Carbone — Also located in the Aria Hotel, this restaurant was our all-time favorite. If we had more time we may have tried to go more than once! It’s a MUST TRY if you love Italian food like we do! The restaurant also reminded us of New York, which was so special for us on our long weekend getaway.

*Secret tip: if you don’t have a reservation, show up at 4:30pm to be the first in line and then you can ask the bar if they have availability!

9:30pm See a show! —  If you’re feeling adventurous after dinner and aren’t ready for the night to be over yet, Vegas is known for some pretty amazing shows! We saw “O” by Cirque du Soleil at Bellagio – it was incredible!

10am Breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Hotel —  This authentic French bistro will make you feel like you’re sitting at a cafe in Paris (the real thing, not the hotel!) If you sit outside you’ll have a gorgeous view of the stunning Bellagio fountain! To be honest the food is just a 3 out of 5 starts, but it’s for the ambiance if you want a view – Bouchon is a better breakfast restaurant.

6pm Drinks at Vanderpump à Paris — Another great spot at Paris Hotel – my favorite was the Flora Bora Bora (my pink drink with a coconut rim!)

8pm Dinner at Mott 32 — This delicious Chinese restaurant is located in the Venetian Hotel. The ambience was beautiful and the food was amazing. If you go, you have to try the Crispy Duck!🤤

8am Breakfast at Bouchon at the Venetian  — Their brunch menu is to die for! Such a great start to another eventful day!

10am Scalp Massages at Soulo — It’s been over a week and Nick is still talking about this massage. I had been reading all about Japanese style scalp treatments and we decided to find out what all the hype was about! Trust me on this one. It’s life changing.

11:45am Nick Four Hand Massage at K Spa   — While it was my turn to get a glorious scalp massage, Nick had another massage appointment that he has been raving about! Might as well squeeze in all the self-care you can on a couples’ trip, right?! There are other spas you can go to for a 4 hand massage, but the fancy spas are $400 a massage and this place was closer to $150 ( What is a 4 hand massage? It means 2 people are massaging you at once! 2 people = 4 hands Which is so cool!)

8:00pm Dinner at Catch — This fun spot is located in the Aria hotel, and it was the perfect experience! They have a wide array of sushi, seafood and steak so there is something on the menu for everyone! We checked out this spot before heading to a fun nightcap location!

9:30pm Speakeasy Live Music Bar Reservation: The Barbershop at The Cosmopolitan — If you love a unique bar, this speakeasy is for you! We made a reservation here on our last night in Vegas, and we had so much fun! We made our way through a secret entrance to finish our night with some cocktails and great vibes!

11am Venetian or Palazzo Hotel Free Craps Lessons   — When in Rome, right?

12:30pm Gondola Boat ride at Venetian before shopping  — This is staple Vegas itinerary item! There is an indoor or outdoor boat ride option, both of which provide gorgeous views and a gondolier who will sing as you take in the beautiful scenery. Such a romantic, fun experience!

5:00pm Exotics Racing — Tap into your adventurous side with this adrenaline boost before dinner! No speed limit! 🏎️

6:15 Dinner at The Mayfair —  This restaurant is located at the Bellagio. We went for dinner for our last night in Vegas and it was delicious. The restaurant is also are open for late night drinks as well as a unique Jazz dinner on Sundays!

9:30 See a show: Kà by Cirque du Soleil —  If you want to get in one last amazing show before your time in Vegas is up, we saw this one at MGM Grand and it was so fun!

How to get to Las Vegas 

As one of the busiest cities in the Southwest and also one of the most desirable vacation destinations in the region, Las Vegas makes it easy for guests to quickly reach its vibrant and bustling streets. 

Whether you’re flying in internationally or plan on embarking on a bit of a road trip before your stay, there are several quick and hassle-free transportation options available to help get you to Las Vegas as soon as possible. 

Driving In 

There is one major roadway passing in and out of Las Vegas and it’s I-15. However, as it is the most often used by travelers heading to and from Los Angeles, this is one of the busiest roadways in the region. What should be only a four-hour trip between the two cities can often end up being twice that depending on the day of your travels, so making sure you either leave yourself enough extra travel time or find a way to leave during the week will be your best bet. 

However, if you’re looking to avoid serious traffic congestion, you may want to consider heading down to State Road 160. This two-lane road may add about 40 miles to your trip. However, with the number of hours you may otherwise be stuck sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the highway, it may just be worth it. Another benefit of this unexpected adventure will be the variety of beautiful sites seen along the route, including the picturesque Red Rock Canyon .  

Flying In 

For travelers flying in from a distance, you may be pleasantly surprised by Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). The seventh-largest domestic airport, LAS, has undergone significant renovations and improvements in the last few years. 

The airport itself caters to the numerous tourists coming into the area to take advantage of the city’s booming casino scene. With over 1,400 slot machines spread throughout the terminals, travelers can enter the Sin City spirit before leaving the airport. 

By Rail/Train 

Travelers looking for a scenic and nostalgic start to their holiday may love the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas by train. The city is accessible by train directly from 76 different cities, with 126 trips scheduled daily, making it a straightforward travel method for visitors coming in from around the country. 

Getting around Las Vegas 

Las Vegas is an urban destination like no other. Luckily, the city has spared no expense when it comes to transportation, making it one of the easiest cities to navigate in the entire region. Whether you prefer to explore the city on foot, in a private car or on mass transit, there is no shortage of options. Behind the Wheel 

Las Vegas is designed to be car-friendly. Several main highways lead directly through the city, which are laid out in a grid system, making it simple to traverse. Make the Most of Mass Transit 

If you stay on The Strip, you want to take advantage of the Las Vegas Monorail. Running from the SAHARA at the city’s North End to the MGM Grand in the south, this exceptional means of transportation can have you traversing the entire strip in just over ten minutes. 

Six of the city’s well-known resorts offer monorail stations and the Las Vegas Convention Center, home to several renowned events throughout the year. Travelers can pay $5 for a single-way or a $32 fare for a three-day unlimited pass. 

The city’s double-decker bus system is a fantastic option for visitors who want to go from The Strip to Downtown, with stops occurring every 15 to 20 minutes. Keep in mind that travelers can purchase a pass at any one of the self-service kiosks. However, it is much more convenient to simply download the Southern Nevada’s Regional Travel Commissions app, where you can buy and download a pass directly to your phone. 

Seeing the Sights on Foot 

The unbelievable number of attractions and entertainment opportunities spread throughout the city makes it an ideal place to head out on foot. However, if you plan on traveling around the city by walking, it’s incredibly important that you not only dress for the warmer temperatures but also use sunscreen and possibly even a hat to protect yourself from the intense sun.

What’s the weather like in Las Vegas?

The weather in Las Vegas, Nevada is warm and sunny most of the year (perhaps a little too warm in summer). It’s important to keep in mind that Las Vegas is in the desert so temperatures will always cool off quite a bit at night. Here’s more of what to expect weather-wise in Vegas depending on the month you’re visiting.

March-June and September-November are typically the best months to enjoy Las Vegas without scorching hot days or very chilly nights. Planning on enjoying the best of Vegas nightlife while you’re in Sin City? For those looking to spend nights dancing in Tao and days at beach clubs, there are a few things you should know when it comes to your Vegas packing list.

Men, you’re going to need the following in Vegas:

• Nice, fitted jeans (preferably darker denim or black) or dress pants
• Button-up, collared shirts
• Sport coat (optional)
• Dress shoes
• Swimsuit (required for day clubs and pool parties)
• Small, drawstring bag (day clubs and pool parties)
• Sunglasses (day clubs and pool parties)
• Hats (day clubs and pool parties)

Almost as important as the what-to-wear list is the what-NOT-to-wear list. Baggy jeans, tee shirts (with rare exceptions), sneakers, hats, sandals, shorts, and any kind of athletic wear/jerseys are big NOs in Vegas clubs.

Women, here’s what you’ll need to pack for clubbing in Vegas:

• Fashionable (but comfortable) heels
• Tight-fitting jeans
• Bathing suit (bikini, one-piece, whatever you feel good in)
• Nice bathing suit coverup
• Sandals (for day clubs/pool parties)
• Makeup remover

Ladies, be sure to bring a small cross-body purse or clutch to hold your belongings. Larger bags may be able to be checked but you may just be turned away.

While we’re all for women feeling confident in whatever they choose to wear, unfortunately in Vegas – if you want to gain entry to certain nightclubs – you have to play by their rules.

Vegas packing list for the family

Off to Vegas with the kids in tow? There are a few family-specific must-haves to add to your Vegas packing list.

• Comfortable shoes for the kids (for all the walking up and down The Strip!)
• Flip flops or Crocs for by the pool
• UV-protective clothing/swimsuits (safest option for that desert sun)

10 Things to Pack for Your Trip to Las Vegas

Your  room  and flight are booked, your show tickets are purchased, and you only have one thing left to do before you’re on your way to Las Vegas:

Obviously, you’ll need all the usuals: clothes, toiletries, and a credit card with no limit.

But this is Vegas!

This trip is special, and if this is your first trip to Sin City, there are a few essentials you might not realize you need.

What to Pack for Your Vegas Trip?

1: Comfortable Shoes

Looking at a map of the Las Vegas Strip, it looks like all the resorts and casinos are super close together.

They’re not that close.

In real life, those objects are larger than they appear, and that means you’re probably going to do a  lot  of walking.

One of the best things about Vegas is the glitz, glamour, and style, so it’s tempting to plan your outfits around dress shoes and high heels, but be warned – your feet will end up blistered and sore unless you plan accordingly.

Go ahead. Pack the stilettos and the Italian leather.

Just be practical about it.

Fun fact: much of Las Vegas is solar-powered.

That’s because there’s lots of sun.

Make sure your sunglasses make it into your suitcase because if they don’t, you’re probably going to end up buying a pair at gift shop prices.

3: Sunscreen

See the solar comments above if you’re not quite convinced.

Again, you can buy sunscreen in Las Vegas, but if you’re staying in a hotel, it’s going to be gift shop-priced sunscreen.

Check your local drug store for travel-sized bottles, and get whatever SPF you’ll need.

Vegas is full of pools, beach clubs, and promenades where you’re going to catch quite a few rays. Sunny pool parties are tons of fun, but sunburn isn’t.

4: A USB Charger

Casinos have been putting USB ports at their machines and tables so that players can charge their devices during play, and that’s kind of cool.

They also have charging stations where you can pay to charge your phone with their cords.

Odds are, you’re going to spend a lot of time out on the strip, walking around downtown, gaming, eating, and generally Vegasing, and that means you’re going to be away from your room and your wall charger.

You’re also going to run down your phone battery taking pictures and bragging – ahem, sharing – with your friends back home.

A simple USB cord in your pocket is a good idea.

5: Layers of Clothing

Contrary to popular belief, Las Vegas  does  get cold sometimes, especially at night.

During the summer, you’re probably going to have the opposite problem, but up until about May or June, cold evenings are still likely.

A light jacket or zip-up hoodie that you can tie around your waist or stuff in a bag will help protect you from the wind and occasional cold snap.

Check the forecast before you pack, and plan accordingly.

6: A Refillable Water Bottle

Here’s the thing about a city in the middle of a huge desert:

It’s really,  really  dry.

Your first time in Las Vegas, you’re likely to feel like the moisture is being sucked right out of your skin.

Plus, you’re going to sweat doing all that walking, especially with the aforementioned abundance of sunlight and oven-hot summers.

Bottled water is certainly available – for a price.

Save yourself some money and some dehydration headaches with a refillable water bottle, and make sure you keep it topped off whenever you get the chance.

7: A Camera That Works in Low Light

There’s nothing quite so beautiful as Las Vegas at night.

And there’s nothing quite so disappointing as low-quality cell phone pictures of Las Vegas at night.

You just can’t get photos like this with most phone cameras:

Some phones have great cameras, but if you’re looking for some good souvenir photos, it’s best to pack a camera.

Then again, you could just enjoy your trip without documenting everything on social media. Maybe.

8: A Crossbody Tote Bag

You’re going to want some way to comfortably carry that camera, water bottle, jacket, charger, sunscreen, and all your Vegas souvenirs.

Lugging around bags of stuff is kind of a pain when you’re walking from casino to casino, watching street performers, gaming, and shopping, so keep your hands free with a bag that has a comfortable crossbody strap.

Yes, even men.

You can totally pull off the man satchel look.

Using a crossbody bag instead of a backpack will get you less grief in casinos (some places have restrictions about carrying bags) and they’re easier to get into on the go – you don’t have to take it off to get inside.

They’re also a little safer since you can keep them in front of you, within your range of attention at all times.

9: Sleep Survival Kit

Your sleep survival kit consists of two items: earplugs and a sleep mask.

Some hotels will provide these on request, but it’s not always a complimentary option.

Plus, there are much nicer earplugs out there that are comfortable, effective, and can be made to fit your ears. For Vegas purposes, those are best.

It’s always a little harder to sleep in a hotel room away from home, and since Vegas is an international hub, you’re probably going to be sharing a hotel corridor with other people who are used to completely different time zones, and who also happen to be having the party of their lives.

Let’s face it:

Las Vegas isn’t the city you come to when you’re looking for peace and quiet.

Sleeping late is kind of a Vegas tradition, but the sleep mask and earplugs are an important part of that.

10: Hangover Survival Kit

Your hangover survival kit is pretty simple, too: an over-the-counter pain reliever that’s NOT acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Alka-Seltzer.

If you have any of your own favorite hangover remedies, pack them, too.

Hotels, being smart and enterprising companies, keep these things down at the front desk, and sell individual doses at hotel prices.

Come on, it’s Vegas.

You know you’re going to be drinking, so come prepared.

Bonus: Alka-Seltzer is also great when you overindulge at one of the great Las Vegas buffets .

My hangover kit consists of the black box of Pedialyte single serve packets. I mix one with a bottle of water before I go to bed, wake up the next morning feeling like I didn’t drink anything! Been doing it for years. It really works! I also stop by a CVS or the closest drug store to buy a case of water to keep in my hotel room.

Vegas Hangover Cocktail – My GO TO! A DoTerra Digest Zen capsule or oil drops for tummy upset, washed down with 2 ibuprofen for headache prevention and a Pedialyte single serve powder electrolyte pack mixed into 12-16 ounces of water before bed. Pound this cocktail and be thankful. Trust me, it’s been tested! I don’t hit Vegas without all 3. Cheers!
