I recently stayed at The Voyage Hotel with my wife to celebrate my birthday on June 1, 2023, and I must say it was a truly disappointing experience. We made the mistake of booking the cheapest rate available at the time, and we paid the price for it. From the moment we entered Room 311, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority for the hotel. The walls were filthy and had noticeable patches where the painting had started and abruptly stopped. It was as if the painter had given up halfway through the job. The lack of attention to detail was astounding. But the worst part was the state of the mirrors and windows. It seemed like they had been wiped with a dirty rag, leaving behind streaks and smudges. It was incredibly off-putting to see our own reflections marred by the lack of cleanliness. It made us question the overall hygiene standards of the hotel. As someone who appreciates a clean and comfortable stay, I was deeply disappointed by the condition of the room. It's disheartening to pay for accommodation only to be greeted by such subpar conditions. I understand that we booked the cheapest rate, but cleanliness should not be compromised regardless of the price. I strongly urge potential guests to reconsider staying at The Voyage Hotel. While the price may be tempting, the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail make it an unpleasant experience. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their standards, as no guest deserves this service.

I only stay in a pinch. I've stayed on three separate occasions never for more than two days. It is as the other reviews states. I honestly think this used to be a pay by the hour place. PROS It's cheap, ton of eateries and supermarkets close by. 20 minute ride into Manhattan. Theres an atm and vending machine onsite. The hallways and lobby are clean and bright. Fridge in the room. AC/Heaters in the room work well. The shower pressure and temperature is great. The wifi works well and they have some cable channels. CONS There are a lot of them. They take deposits in cash and the price fluctuates depending on whose behind the counter. You get it refunded but that's very weird to me. It's anywhere from $50-$100. The furniture is outdated, broken or missing. The sheets are stained and sometimes have holes. The beds only have two pillows that are usually flat. They don't provide washcloths. Yes you read that correctly. They only have bath towels and hand towels. There's one communal microwave for the entire hotel, downstairs in the lobby. No ice buckets but they have an ice machine. The rooms have drawings or marks on the wall. Peeling or chipped paint. Paper thin walls. I've often heard my neighbors having sex, talking etc. It's NYC so you can hear sirens, cars etc. at anytime of night. No parking lot however I've been able to find parking without too much hassle. The don't offer housekeeping services at all during your stay. They're still blaming it on COVID. Which is BS. They don't want to spend the money. The room is only cleaned once you checkout. If you need additional things you can get it from the front desk. If your trash is full you have to put it outside your door etc. the tvs are outdated and they don't offer casting so you can watch your own accounts. Minimal toiletries in the room. You'll get a small bar of soap and maybe a shampoo. Not that's it's of quality so you wouldn't want to use it anyway. A lot of of tourist stay here. I feel bad because they probably get suckered in because it's cheap. But I couldn't imagine staying here for a week pe while on vacation.

This hotel is disgusting. A friend booked this place as she was visiting from out of town. We brought take out and noticed the room was disgusting. The bed sheets were stained and there were holes from cigarette butts on the sheets. There were also a bunch of tiny stains on the sheets. I also called before arrival to make sure that the hotel accepted credit card as we don't really carry cash and they said they do. Upon arrival, they said they only take cash as the machine is broken even though less than half an hour ago, they said they accepted card. After not being able to use the ATM, the machine Absolutely disgusting and service was terrible; would not recommend coming here again.

This is place is a slum. I checked into this hotel for 3 nights. I've been in three different rooms and all rooms were never cleaned the beds and floors are all dirty. They have hair all over the sheets along with the bathrooms were just a total mess. I'm so disgusted.

Terrible. TLDR; rooms are disgusting, not cleanly, sometimes even missing amenities. Hard to get in contact with staff. You had to leave your room to call them in spite your schedule. But if you move to slow they try to take your deposit. Bring a $60 cash deposit, if not you'll use their ATM and then they'll charge you a fee on their ATM. AND IT REEKS OF CIGARETTES I came here assuming that this was a lowkey place was surrounded by bigger hotels and was not given a shot. Boy did I think wrong. I asked cleaning staff to come to room and look at what is was staying in. No one came. Called the front desk and for help and it rang. After seeing this, I was only here because the room was non refundable. Upon checking out, there was bit of delay on my end. The delay on my end with significant because I have to pack up the cleaning supplies, they then threatened to take my deposit for it. I am more than aware that everyone who works here has a job that they are doing, and I try to be respectful of it. But then seen the quality of this place, seeing that floors were cleaned once in the three days I was here unfortunately to then finding the gall to threaten to take my deposit because I didn't move fast enough for them is despicable. Even with things like these I don't say anything, I try to be understanding. I am aware that the staff at the desk are not regularly in the rooms to see the condition of the rooms, sometimes they are just not aware. But then to find the gall to threaten to take my deposit after I opened door to show them all that I had to pack is insane. I'm currently standing in their lobby by their guest elevator and there is a wire hanging out of the ceiling. Do not come here if you can avoid it. If you have a little bit extra money book hotel Nirvana or some other place that is in less than a mile just one.

Hi everyone... would've give higher score but there's couple things that they either need to fix and or post for the customers. For starters there's construction going on 2 building down and its really crazy and very very loud‍Then there's no parking in or around the place, but I can understand it is New York‍ Then there rooms are nice but you can tell they don't do a good cleaning. I have posted 2 photos for to see. Beside this the young gentleman was very nice and courteous.

Do not stay here , the photos you see was when the place was established. It is unsanitary, unsafe, unclean and uncomfortable. Do not stay here.

Worst hotel/motel ever. Lacks in everything. Worst customer service ever. When you request room service, they will never do it. Your money won't be worth here. Find another hotel/motel room. This is my worst vacation ever. Staff aren't so friendly.

This is the most disgusting hotel if you can call it that I have ever been!!!!! Checked in and checked right out! Smelt like sweat!! Dirty dirty. Dirty!!!! Sheets dirty floor dirty lobby dirty. Dirty!!

The room was the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in. Everything from the sheets to the hallway to the toilet was completely disgusting. Do not book here.

You have to make a bit of an effort to reach the small, Cycladic island of Paros.

But it’s worth it if you’re keen on fine beaches, blue-domed churches and ports where waterfront tavernas serve charcoal-grilled fish and spanakopita (spinach pie).

My Greek friend Theo and I arrived after a three-hour voyage by high-speed ferry from Piraeus.

You can also get there flying via Athens or go to big sister Mykonos and take a 45-minute ferry ride.

While that larger island is well-known for its hedonism, sunsets and cruise ship hordes, Paros is just 13 miles long and a favourite with Greek holidaymakers.

We stayed in Naoussa, once a quiet fishermen’s village but now the island’s tourist hub.

Our room at the reasonably priced Iris Boutique Hotel came with a balcony overlooking the whitewashed town.

Jewellery shops and clothes boutiques line the winding streets while the ruins of a 15th-century Venetian castle stretch into the bewitching Aegean.

In the 1970s, Paros was a party destination — until officials briefly closed the island to foreign tourists.

Now it is trending again after being a location in the  Netflix mini-series One Day. Airbnb  saw a 32 per cent spike in searches by UK travellers.

New villas are ‘popping up like mushrooms’, as one islander put it, along with smartly designed luxury hotels such as the 38-room Avant Mar on Piperi Beach.

With its private plunge pools, thermal baths-themed spa and a restaurant overseen by star chef Nobu Matsuhisa, it’s unashamedly aimed at wealthy sun-seekers.

So, is Paros the new Mykonos? Not yet, but with an international airport due to open next year, it clearly will be.

We rented a car to explore. In Parikia, the small but satisfying Archaeology Museum offered enchanting artworks created over 2,000 years ago.

We learned how in classical times Parian marble was prized for its translucence, being used in sculptures such as the Venus de Milo. It also adorns Napoleon Bonaparte’s tomb in Paris.

Another engaging stop was the Valley Of Butterflies, a forested nature reserve where in summer thousands of Jersey tiger moths flock with vivid red underwings that are only revealed when in flight.

One morning, we took the seven-minute, €1.50 (£1.30 / $1.60) ferry west to Antiparos, which is smaller and more traditional than its go-ahead neighbour.

Paying a visit to its Historical And Folklore Museum, we were offered olives and a glass of local Tsipouro, a potent ouzo-like spirit. 

Yet even here, there was a feeling that things were on the move. 

'You know Tom Hanks has a house on Antiparos?’ said a waiter.

Then, a little later, a shop owner couldn’t help boasting how ‘the Obamas were here last week’.

Back on Paros, Theo and I drove up into the mountains to Lefkes.

As the sun set, we sat in the Taverna Agnadio savouring its panoramic view of white churches and windmills as luscious plates of tzatziki and honey-coated fried feta landed on the table.

It’s fair to say that Paros is making its presence felt. It’s been conquered by the Byzantines and Ottomans — and may just be a new target for the TikTok brigade. All the more reason to go now.

Notre équipe éditoriale est partie à la rencontre de cet incroyable hôtel qui a élu domicile dans une petite bourgade de Provence d’environ 150 âmes. Cap sur Assignan, au sud-ouest de l’Hérault, à quelques kilomètres de Béziers (Occitanie).

Le château & village castigno vient d’être récompensé d’une clef michelin..

Il n’existe sûrement pas d’invention plus exquise pour un hôtel de charme que l' albergo diffuso . Cette expression italienne signifie littéralement "hôtel diffus » : un concept qui subdivise les services hôteliers en plusieurs bâtiments, créant un sentiment d'immersion incomparable. Bonne nouvelle : il n'y a pas qu'en Italie que l'on trouve ce type d'hôtel. A Assignan, pittoresque hameau entouré de vignes centenaires, un tiers des bâtiments – de magnifiques structures traditionnelles en pierre – arborent une teinte rose, violette ou rouge. Tous appartiennent au Château & Village Castigno . C'est à la fois romantique, insolite et amusant. Comme si Willy Wonka, le magicien confiseur imaginé par Roald Dahl dans son roman Charlie et la Chocolaterie, s'était installé ici pour entamer une carrière de sommelier.

L’histoire commence avec Tine Claeys et Marc Verstraete, un couple passionné de vin, à la recherche d'un lieu unique où développer leur propre cru. Le projet prend de l’ampleur à mesure qu’ils rénovent les vieilles bâtisses du village. Aujourd'hui, 24 chambres sont réparties dans le minuscule bourg. Situées dans d’anciennes maisons ou écuries (dont cette demeure de vignerons abritant cuves et pressoirs), toutes possèdent un charme unique.

Joyeusement décorées avec des œuvres d'art originales et antiquités locales, elles ont été rénovées par Claeys, ancienne costumière sur de nombreux films et émissions télévisées belges. Leurs camaïeux de couleurs rend hommage aux diverses robes du vin. Ancrée au sud-est de la ville, la Villa Rouge, chef-d'œuvre de ce complexe oenotouristique, dispose même de sa propre piscine et d’un jardin.

L’architecte belge Lionel Jadot a revêtu d’écorce de liège les murs de la nouvelle cave. Mais le plus spectaculaire reste sa forme de bouteille géante. Les visiteurs peuvent y déguster neuf millésimes du domaine de Castigno, et poursuivre leur voyage gustatif au restaurant étoilé La Table de Castigno. L'hôtel compte également un bistrot-grill sur la place du village (la Petite Table), un restaurant thaïlandais et une micro-brasserie avec planches à partager et bières maison (les propriétaires de l’hôtel sont Belges, n’oublions pas !). Sans oublier un spa de qualité, une piscine extérieure et un centre de fitness.

A Castigno, tout est pensé selon l'idéal épicurien : c’est un endroit où l'on peut manger, boire et prendre du recul... Littéralement. Les propriétaires nous expliquent que le village se trouve « au milieu de nulle part ». Ici, Wi-fi et télévision sont bannis au profit de ce que les anglophones nomment slow living : l’art de ralentir.

L'hôtel séduit des couples pour de courts séjours l’hiver, et des séjours plus longs l’été, lorsqu’on peut profiter de la piscine, ou des vélos mis gracieusement à disposition. Il est aussi possible de louer une Vespa pour vous aventurer hors du site, découvrir les plages de la Méditerranée ou les marchés alentours.

Toutes les boutiques du village sont signées Castigno. Cours de cuisine, balades à cheval, yoga et excursions en hélicoptère sont proposés. "Il faut surtout aimer le vin pour venir ici », s’amuse le concierge. Dégustations de cuvées, cours de vinification, pique-niques dans le vignoble (avec bouteille de vin bio incluse), « safari viticole » (une promenade en 4×4 à travers les vignes)… Un paradis pour les amateurs !

Comme tout hôtel bien dans son époque, Castigno (et son petit frère Sextantio, en Italie) valorise une expérience locale immersive, et aide les clients à mieux comprendre la destination qu'ils visitent.

Tine Claeys et Marc Verstraete sont tombés amoureux du village de Castigno et ont à cœur de contribuer à sa sauvegarde. En témoigne le slogan de l’hôtel : « la renaissance d'un rêve ». Le couple a trouvé un soutien précieux auprès de la mairie et des habitants, heureux d'assister au renouveau de leur hameau.

Aujourd'hui, d’après les porte-parole de l'hôtel, 90 % des habitants d'Assignan travaillent dans le vin, que ce soit pour Castigno ou pour d’autres vignobles de la région. Près de 35 % des bâtiments de la ville arborent les couleurs de Castigno.
