Aloy smiling in Horizon Forbidden West as she stands atop a Carja signal tower, in front of a signal device, which holds the lens of dawn signal lens.

Horizon Forbidden West has six signal towers , each with a signal lens in every signal device , scattered across The Daunt, the first open-world area that you can explore. In this Horizon Forbidden West guide, we’ll show you the location of every signal tower and signal lens — the Lens of Afternoon , Lens of Dawn , Lens of Evening , Lens of Midday , Lens of Morning , and the Lens of Twilight .

These Carja signal towers are part of the “Signals of the Sun” Errand Quest, which we learned, oh, probably five hours and three towers after we discovered our first. You don’t need to activate the quest to find the signal towers, but you do need to activate it to earn rewards.

Signals of the Sun Errand Quest signal tower locations

A Horizon Forbidden West map showing a ? and labeled Unknown, which is location of the “Signals of the Sun” Errand Quest, north of Barren Light

You’ll first meet Maleev , a real jerk of a soldier, who’s dragging a body almost directly north of Barren Light . Speak to him, and then climb the nearby mountain — passing an Anomalous Growth along the way, which shows up as Blocked Path (Missing Tool Needed) on your map — in search of the dragged man’s companion. After a confrontation with some machines, you’ll meet Raynah . And after that conversation, the signal tower locations appear on your map.

There are six signal towers in Horizon Forbidden West. You can figure out which one(s) you’re missing in the Notebook > Collectibles > Signal Lenses menu.

All Signal Tower Locations in Horizon Forbidden West

Image of CJ Kuzdal

Horizon Forbidden West's massive open-world provides players with plenty of activities to do aside from the main story. One of the most rewarding aspects of the game is the many collectibles that players can find scattered around the world. Signal Towers are the first collectible type that players will encounter in Horizon Forbidden West.

Signal Tower Locations

tour de signal horizon

There are six Signal Towers in total and all of them can be found relatively close to each other. They are all located in the first area of Horizon's open world, the Daunt . The Signal Towers are tied to an early-game side quest where Aloy is tasked with retrieving the Lenses from each Signal Tower.

The Signal Towers can be completed in any order and are not story locked. They can be finished after players have completed the game's main story. Since the Signal Towers can be difficult to find and traverse, it may be worth waiting until Aloy has access to the end-game flying mount to tackle the bulk of them.

There are six Signal Towers located throughout the Daunt in Horizon: Forbidden West. To reach each Tower, you will need to climb up the mountain cliffs and around the towers to get to the top. Once you reach the top, you can loot the Signal Lens.

These Signal Lenses can be turned in to Raynah, an Oseram you meet during the Errand 'Signals of the Sun.' After your initial meeting, you can find her in Barren Light by the tents near the entrance.

Signal Towers will only appear as a Signal Tower icon once you've discovered it. It will just be a white question mark on the map until then.

Signals of the Sun Errand Quest: Who to give the Signal Lenses to in Horizon Forbidden West

As you traverse the Daunt to collect these lenses in Horizon: Forbidden West, there is one Errand that you will need to pick up in order to turn in the Signal Lenses.

Signals of the Sun, a Level 5 Errand, is given by a Barren Light guard named Maleev. You will find him dragging a dead body out along a path to the northwest of Barren Light. While you're talking to him, you'll hear a scream from up in the mountains.

When you reach the source of the scream, you will see a woman named Raynah trying to fight off machines. After you come to her aid, speak to her and she will tell you about the old Carja Watchtowers and the Signal Lenses. She will ask you to collect the lenses from the various Signal Towers located throughout the Daunt and she will reward you for the lenses.

tour de signal horizon

This Errand will not become available until you have completed the Main Quest, 'Into the Brink.' You also do not need to collect all six lenses to finish the actual Signals of the Sun Errand, but you won't receive the full reward until you do.

Aloy has returned in Horizon: Forbidden West! To help you get started in her new quest, visit our pages on how levelling and skill points work , along with how to upgrade your inventory pouches . We’ve also looked at how to climb the Tallneck in Cinnabar Sands , cauldron locations and the door code for Death’s Door mission .

Signal Lens of Morning location in Horizon Forbidden West

The Signal Tower for the Lens of Morning is located northeast of Chainscrape in Horizon: Forbidden West.

The path to this tower will be near the lift that you take to get down into the Daunt. Follow the path north from the first Campfire you see. Climb up the wood platform and up the cliff. When you get to the base of the Tower keep climbing around it, using the yellow handholds as your guide.

When you get to the top of the Tower, take the Lens of Morning.

Signal Lens of Midday location in Horizon Forbidden West

The Signal Tower for the Lens of Midday is located to the east of Chainscrape in the mountains.

You will need to climb the cliff to get to it. There is an area to the left of the tower at the base of the mountain that is a good starting point for the climb up. Once you get to where the tower is, start working your way around the tower. Use the yellow handholds to get you to the top.

At the top of the tower, you can loot the Lens of Midday.

Signal Lens of Evening location in Horizon Forbidden West

Located north of Barren Light, the Signal Tower for the Lens of Evening is the Tower in the 'Signals of the Sun' Errand in Horizon: Forbidden West.

After you speak to Raynah, go to the Tower. To get into the Tower, you will need to use your Pullcaster on the blue metal clamp. Pull the wall open and go inside. From there you can start your climb up the Tower. When you get to the top, you will find the Lens of Evening.

This is the only lens you need to complete the 'Signals of the Sun' Errand.

Signal Lens of Dawn location in Horizon Forbidden West

The Signal Tower for the Lens of Dawn is located in the northeast end of the Daunt, in the mountains across from the Crimson Narrows Quarry, which you will see if you complete the 'Deep Trouble' Side Quest in Horizon: Forbidden West.

Starting from a wooden platform, make your way up the cliff, then keep going up the tower. At the top of the tower, you can collect the Lens of Dawn.

Signal Lens of Afternoon location in Horizon Forbidden West

To reach the Signal Tower containing the Lens of Afternoon, you will need to have completed the Main Quest 'Into the Brink' and received the Side Quest 'The Twilight Path' from Petra in Chainscrape. By receiving this side quest, you will have access to this Signal Tower which is located south of Chainscrape. This also means that you will need to actively complete the side quest in Horizon: Forbidden West.

During 'The Twilight Path,' you will encounter a Twilight Carja refugee camp. Their leader Savohar has gone up the mountain to meditate in the presence of a downed Stormbird. You will need to find Savohar and in turn, and once you do you will be able to climb the Signal Tower. At the top of the Tower, search the rubble for the Lens of Afternoon.

Signal Lens of Twilight location in Horizon Forbidden West

The Signal Tower for the Lens of Twilight is located in the mountain far east of Barren Light in Horizon: Forbidden West. There is a path that leads all the way to the tower. Once you get there, start climbing up around the tower. At the top, you can loot the Lens of Twilight.

tour de signal horizon

Now that you have collected all the Lens in Horizon: Forbidden West, return to Raynah in Barren Light. She will be in among the tents near the entrance. Talk to her and give her the lenses. She will thank you for your help in collecting them and give you a reward.

You will receive 90 Metal Shards, Dune Shadow dye, and a random reward combination of Greenshine and Bronze ingots.

Signal lenses.

Signal Lenses are a Collectible only found in The Daunt , all of which are located at the top of the Carja watch towers. They're related to the Signals of the Sun Errand Quest, although you do not need to start it to begin collecting the Lenses. This section of IGN's Horizon Forbidden West guide covers everything you need to know about them, including where the Signal Towers are located, how to climb them to the lenses, and what rewards you get for handing them in.

Use the links below to jump to a specific section of the page:

What are Signal Lenses and How to Find Them

  • Lens of Dawn
  • Lens of Morning
  • Lens of Midday
  • Lens of Afternoon
  • Lens of Twilight
  • Lens of Evening

Signal Lens Banner.png

Signal Lenses are a collectible only found in The Daunt , the area just before you cross over into the Forbidden West.

Aloy is at first unsure what she should do with them, but if you find and start the “Signals of the Sun” Errand Quest, you’ll meet Raynah, the daughter of the man who designed the towers, who wants to recover the Lenses before the Carja pull the old towers down. If you complete it by retrieving the Evening Lens for her, the other five towers will be marked on your map.

If you therefore trade the Lenses you’ve found with Raynah, you’ll get 15 Metal Shards for each one, as well as various other Resources like Greenshine and Ingots. While your first trade with Raynah will be at the base of the “Evening” Signal Tower, all subsequent ones require meeting up with her in Barren Light, South of the Evening Tower.

Aside from that, the Lens of Afternoon on the tower with the Stormbird on top will be locked until you start " The Twilight Path " Side Quest, which unlocks by completing the " To the Brink " Main Quest and then talking to Petra in the downstairs area of the Chainscrape tavern.

Every Signal Lens Location

Click the links below to find full written walkthroughs for every Signal Len in Horizon Forbidden West.

Signal Lens - 01 Lens of Dawn 1080.png

Location : The Daunt

At the top of the Signal Tower in the Northern end of The Daunt, directly North of a Charger Mount site.

Signal Lens - 02 Lens of Morning 1080.png

On top of the Signal Tower in the cliffs North-East of Chainscrape.

Signal Lens - 03 Lens of Midday 1080.png

Found at the top of the Signal Tower on the cliffs directly East of Chainscrape itself.

Signal Lens - 04 Lens of Afternoon.png

Prerequisite : " The Twilight Path " Side Quest Location : The Daunt

Found at the top of the Signal Tower South-West of Chainscrape, and has a rusty Stormbird crashed atop it. However the road up to this tower is part of “The Twilight Path” Side Quest, and thus is blocked until you start it. The Twilight Path becomes available after you complete the “To the Brink” Main Quest.

The Lens of Afternoon can be found atop the Signal Tower, however because the Stormbird crashed into it, it won’t be sitting on a copper dish like they normally are, and instead will be sitting in some rubble next to the Stormbird.

Signal Lens - 05 Lens of Twilight 1080.png

Located at the top of the Signal Tower directly East of Barren Light and the nearby Hunting Grounds. It’ll be at the end of a long winding mountain road that ends with an abandoned camp at the foot of the tower.

Signal Lens - 06 Lens of Evening 1080.png

This Signal Tower is located directly North of Barren Light. The road to get up here is where you can find and start “Signals of the Sun”, which will help unlock a way for you to trade these in for rewards. Completing it will also mark the location of all remaining Signal Lenses on the map.

How to get free WiFi in Moscow

Moscow is the largest city of Russia and holds a prominent place in the country as the main economic, cultural, political andresearch centre.

There couldn’t be a better spot to spend your vacations than the artful city of Moscow; the reasons being many but the major one for being among one of the cities where free WiFi connections are blessed. The city being vastly connected to the World through various international airports and railways has an amazingly extensive internet connection around the city for the tourists who might want an access to the media zone as well as to their social network, but would appreciate to cut back on those awful internet charges, while delighting in the beauties of this city like Moscow Kremlin orIntourist Hotel Volgograd.

Moscow had been ranked as one an alpha global city streaming with countless tourists all-round the year, hencefinding free WiFi is not as difficult as it might sound. The capital of Russia has been conveniently blessed with 1178 free WiFi hotspots including various restaurants, coffeehouses, pubs, hotels; and quite surprisingly yet delightfully enough, these free WiFi connections are in access to public transportation, parklands, Moscow metro buses and many such open places where tourists and locals alike, pass through frequently and would want to enjoy their meals or coffees while posting check ins and photos for their Facebook circle!

Mosscow wifi train

The main internet service provider within the entire city is Beeline, Megafon and MTS. If curious about the connection’s security with respect to your personal details, for that is quite natural, have a look at the related websites and find out the best tariffs.

However, in the historical Moscow city, free wireless connections is operative only through the Beeline which is readily spread in many areas of the city. The only effort you need to put in is connect to the internet by the name of “Beeline WiFi” or “Beeline WiFi WPA “and experiment around a bit like putting up your laptop on the window-sill for a few minutes, orswinging around the mobile phone in blank airuntil you start getting a stable reception; and you’re all good to go. Beeline WiFi is the only service provider if you are travelling a bus or a trolleybus, which is quite common in Russia. Moreover, 300 routers providing free internet access have been allocated on public transportation. Another free WiFi arrangement could be leisurely enjoyed while moving in and out of the city through Moscow’s underground Metro system. As of now, MTS has taken the initiative to equip four out of fourteen  Moscow metro stations in the city, erasing off all that weariness of a subway, and what’s more; the data transfer is estimated to be more than 100Mb/s per train!

Fortunately, there are various places in Moscow covered soundly with commercial WiFi network, where you could freely relax, sipping on those savory Mors with your laptop connecting you to the social webs or checking up on your mails and letting you keep track of this fast-paced modern world that would definitely help in easily recording and creating a memorable travelogue.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
