Tour Jerusalem & Israel
Jerusalem is the most popular tourist destination in Israel, attracting millions of tourists and pilgrims from all over the world each year, exploring a vast array of archaeological sites, holy sites, churches, modern museums and of course, Jerusalem’s Old City. Jerusalem holds a special significance for the world’s main three monotheistic religions. For over 3000 years, Jerusalem has remained at the center of Jewish life and prayer. As the holiest city in Judaism, observant Jews world-wide pray three times each day in its direction, towards the site where the Temple once stood. For Christians, the Holy City is sacred as well, as according to Christian tradition, Jerusalem is where Jesus preached, was persecuted, crucified and ultimately resurrected. Jerusalem also remains holy to Muslims, as it is the home to the Dome of the Rock, where, according to Muslim belief, Muhammad ascended to heaven. Beyond the holy offerings here, Jerusalem remains the vibrant, metropolitan capital of the contemporary State of Israel, with plenty going on in terms of arts, academia, world-class dining, architecture, business opportunities, nightlife, culture, tech and staggering urban development projects. So no matter what your beliefs and interests, a tour of Jerusalem and setting foot on the land where both Judaism and Christianity were born can be an eye-opening and informative experience. With four vast quarters surrounded by eight massive gates, the Old City of Jerusalem is a highly popular destination for Jerusalem walking tours. Most Jerusalem tours encompass journeys around the Old City’s four quarters: the Jewish Quarter, the Armenian Quarter, the Muslim Quarter and the Christian Quarter. Because each of these offers different religious, historical and cultural landscapes, each offers a unique experience. For more than 2,000 years, the Western Wall has been standing intact and sturdy, being the primary remnant of the retaining wall that supported the Second Temple in the days of King Herod. The Western Wall is considered to be Jerusalem’s holiest site, attracting millions of visitors every year. Traditionally, visitors insert small pieces of paper with written prayers into the crevices of the wall. Starting at St. Stephen's Gate and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Christian Quarter is the Via Dolorosa, a path that follows the last footsteps of Jesus as he journeyed from his conviction at Antonia to his crucifixion on Golgotha, now contained within the walls of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The Via Dolorosa remains one of the most popular Jerusalem tours among Christian pilgrims. Who says you need to walk everywhere? New on the Jerusalem touring scene are Segway tours. You can take a tour through the neighborhood of Armon HaNatziv and see beautiful views of the Old City, Dead Sea and more. There’s also an option of a Segway tour of Jerusalem’s green spaces

➨Masada and the Dead Sea Day Trip from Jerusalem: BOOK NOW !
It’s not a secret that spectacular Masada is one of my favorite spots in Israel . Hiking Masada at sunrise belongs to the most magical moments of my trip to Israel . Masada fortress on Mount Masada in the Judean desert is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most fascinating places in Israel. Ancient Masada was the headquarter of Jewish rebels during the Great Jewish Revolt against the Romans. Hundreds of Jews escaped from Jerusalem to Masada during the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD. However, 8.000 Roman troops attacked Masada. When the conquer of the fortress was about to happen, Jews decided to kill themselves instead of getting into the hands of the conqueror. 960 people at Masada have chosen death instead of slavery. Today Masada is a symbol of Jewish pride and hope and a universal symbol of the human fight against oppression. If you would like to visit Masada, you will most likely enjoy this Masada and the Dead Sea Day Trip from Jerusalem tour . This tour includes floating in the healing waters of the cobalt-blue Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Visiting Masada and swimming in the Dead Sea in one day is one of the best Jerusalem day trips. Masada and the Dead Sea Day Trip from Jerusalem tour is the best for those who enjoy scenic views, surreal nature, history, and unique experiences.

➨ Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee Day Trip from Jerusalem BOOK NOW !
There is no need to explain the significance of Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee if you are a Christian. Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee hold some of the most popular holy sites in Israel . Nazareth is the hometown of Jesus Christ. Virgin Mary and St Joseph lived in Nazareth before the birth of Jesus. Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary in Nazareth to announce her giving birth to Jesus. The Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, and Jesus) lived in Nazareth after returning from Egypt. Today the Basilica of the Annunciation (the largest Christian church in the Middle East) stands over the cave where the angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary to announce her giving birth to Jesus. The Sea of Galilee is the place of many Biblical miracles and the place where Jesus got his first disciples. Jesus calmed the water and walked on the water of the Sea of Galilee. This tour is perfect for all of those who want to visit Biblical sites in Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee. On this tour, you can visit Nazareth, the baptism site of Jesus on the Jordan River, and the Church of Transfiguration on Mount Tabor. The tour includes:

Jerusalem Day Tours
Jerusalem is undoubtedly the jewel in Israel’s crown! Built in the Judean Mountains it is known as “Jerusalem of Gold” because of the golden-hued stone used to build all structures in the city. Jerusalem has a rich and colorful history dating back thousands of years; sacred to Christians, Muslims, and Jews it is a melting pot of diverse cultures. Jerusalem day tours are designed to cover the highlights plus focus on a specific aspect of the city – whether it’s religious landmarks, historic and archaeological gems, or following in the footsteps of Jesus. On Jerusalem day tours you can discover iconic sites like the Mount of Olives; the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock and even walk along the Via Dolorosa as Jesus did 2,000 years ago. Most Jerusalem day tours include time in the Old City, enclosed by ancient fortified walls. Within the Old City are a network of narrow stone-paved lanes lined by quaint stone houses plus bustling markets, synagogues, churches, and mosques. Here you’ll find the Church of the Holy Sepulchre that encompasses Calvary and the Tomb of Christ plus the Western Wall, the holiest Jewish site in the world. Jerusalem day tours often include a stop at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum; a panoramic view across the city and visits to places like the Room of the Last Supper and King David’s Tomb on Mt Zion. For a truly unique view of the city take a Jerusalem day tour that includes going beneath the city to the excavated 3,000-year-old City of David. On a Jerusalem Day Tour you’ll be treated to a pick-up and drop-off service; have air-conditioned transportation and be accompanied by a knowledgeable certified tour guide.

Tour of Jerusalem’s Old City
If you do just one tour in Israel, make sure it’s this one! On the Old City of Jerusalem tour, you will see some of the world’s most interesting and important places.
Old City of Jerusalem tour – Main sites
The western wall, the temple mount, the church of the holy sepulchre.
- The four quarters

Old City tour trailer
I’ve also added lots of my own personal recommendations regarding places to eat, change money and go shopping. You can also get my tours as booklets.
Old City tour – Warnings
The Old City is a safe place.
Your chances of being pickpocketed or robbed are extremely low, and certainly much lower than in any big city in Europe or the US. However, there are some issues you need to be aware of.
Travelers often complain about pushy and aggressive sellers. Check out this post if you want to visit interesting and honest shops. (All of the good places are featured in my Jerusalem app ).
Don’t use the services of random guides who approach you. They will take you to their shops and pressure you to buy. If you need to withdraw money, use the bank ATM in the Jewish quarter.
Jaffa Gate (and other options for starting your Old City tour)
A video from my app
I start my tours at Jaffa Gate, but you can also enter the city from the New Gate, which is particularly handy if you want to visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. If visiting the church is a priority for you, do yourself a favor and head there early. From 9 am, the church quickly fills up with groups.
Another option is to start the day with a visit to the Temple Mount. The Temple Mount is only open to non-Muslims from one gate, which is located next to the Western Wall, and only from 7:30 to 10:30 am and then for another hour at midday (12:30 to 1:30 pm).
One last option is to start the day from the Mount of Olives. After seeing the sites there (Chapel of Ascension, Pater Noster), you can walk down to Gethsemane and continue to the Lion’s Gate. This is the itinerary I suggest in my booklet.
When it comes to the Old City, don’t worry about missing out on any of the sites. The Old City is small, and all the sites are located close to one another.
The four quarters of the Old City
Two thousand years ago, Jerusalem was a Jewish city. 1,100 years ago, Jerusalem was a Muslim city and 900 years ago Jerusalem was a Christian city.
It’s only in the last 500 years that Jerusalem has been the way it is today, divided into four quarters: the Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Armenian quarters. Each quarter is laid out around or close to its most important site. The Jewish quarter is next to the Western Wall and the Temple Mount; the Muslim quarter is next to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Christian quarter is located around the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Armenian quarter is laid out around Saint James Cathedral.
I have made so many videos about this church. Many people fail to understand that there are actually two sites inside the church: Golgotha, where Jesus was crucified, and the tomb of Jesus.
The Western Wall has become a symbol of what connects the Jews to Jerusalem. It is such a well-known symbol that many people don’t realize that other parts of the Western Wall can be seen and that it is not a part of the Jewish Temple itself. All the details are in this video, taken from my app.
The Temple Mount is huge – it takes up one-fifth of the Old City. This is the holiest site for Jews, as this is where the two temples once stood. Today it is also the third holiest site for Muslims, and the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are located where the Jewish temple once stood. There are ten gates leading into the Temple Mount, but non-Muslims can only enter from one entrance, which is located next to the Western Wall and only open for limited hours: Sunday to Thursday, 7:30 – 10:30 am and for one hour at noon (12:30 – 1:30 pm). Visitors must dress modestly, and no Jewish and Christian symbols are allowed (this includes bibles).
Mount Zion is located outside the Old City, but historically it is part of it. It is a tiny mountain, much smaller than the Mount of Olives, and you get there by exiting the Old City from the Zion Gate. The main sites here are the Room of the Last Supper, the Tomb of King David, the Dormition Abbey, and smaller sites like the Chamber of the Holocaust, which was Israel’s first Holocaust museum, and the grave of Oskar Schindler in the Catholic cemetery.

Walking is a great way to get to know and see the most exciting places in Jerusalem. In the company of professional guides, travelers will look into the most secluded corners of the city and learn more about its history and architecture. Jerusalem is one of the main places of attraction for believers of three religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. However, due to its history, it will be no less interesting for agnostics and atheists who can see the most iconic places as part of the Jerusalem free walking tour.
Walking Tours in Jerusalem
Jerusalem is divided into the Old and New City. It so happened that the Old City is divided into four zones - the Jewish quarter, Christian, Muslim, and Armenian. This fact imposes features on the sights of Jerusalem - do not be surprised when you see mosques next to temples and synagogues in the list below. Let's find out what sights you can see as part of a free walking tour in Jerusalem.
Via Dolorosa
A narrow street half a kilometer long, along which Jesus walked the last path from the place where he was sentenced to Golgotha, where Christ was crucified (lat. Via Dolorosa - “sorrowful path”). an obligatory place in the list of sightseeing when you book walking tours in Jerusalem. Fourteen areas are marked along the street where the Son of God stopped. Modern tourists can walk the road in an hour. The endpoint of your walking Jerusalem tour will be the Church of the Holy Sepulcher - it is on its territory where the last five stops of Christ are located.
Church of the Holy Sepulcher
This is one of the main holy places in Israel that must be included in your free tour of Jerusalem itinerary. The temple was built on the mountain where Jesus was buried and resurrected. In the temple, there is a stone of Anointing, on which the body of Jesus was washed. You can touch it and consecrate objects in this way. However, the actual shrine is hidden under an artificial slab.
Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque
Also on the Temple Mount are two important mosques for Muslims that should not be missed during the Jerusalem tours - the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa. According to legend, Muhammad ascended to heaven from the location of the Dome of the Rock. The Jews believe that it was there that the emergence of the world began.
Wall of Tears
Not only Muslims but also Jews aspires to the Dome of the Rock. This happens because of the Wailing Wall - Judaism's most important religious monument. The wall is the surviving part of the Second Temple. Initially, there was a Temple on the Temple Mount - the only place Jews were allowed to hold services. After the destruction, it was reconstructed and called the Second Temple. Later, only one wall remained from the structure, which is now called the Wailing Wall. You can visit this holy place as part of one of the walking tours in Jerusalem.

17 Top Things to Do in Jerusalem
One of the most fiercely contested places on Earth, Jerusalem is home to many of Christianity’s, Islam’s and Judaism’s most important holy sites; the wealth of historic, religious and cultural landmarks is astonishing. Now part of Israel, Jerusalem has been fought over for millennia. At one time or another, the Mamluks, Ottomans, Christians, and Muslims have all ruled, with each of them leaving their mark.
Despite its diminutive size, the Old City probably contains more incredible tourist attractions than many countries do. The Dome of the Rock, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Western Wall are just three of the astonishing sites you can expect to delight in.
Walking through its ancient streets is a mesmerizing experience and the pilgrims of all faiths clogging the passages only add to the intoxicating atmosphere. A special place like no other, Jerusalem offers an endless list of things to do and tourist attractions, such is the wealth of history on show.
17. Church of All Nations
Located on the Mount of Olives that looks out over Jerusalem, the Church of all Nations is an important historical site. It contains a bedrock upon which Jesus is said to have prayed prior to being arrested.
While the current church was consecrated in 1652, it actually lies on the foundations of two older churches, with the earliest dating to the 4th century AD.
The church is named for the many different countries that donated various mosaics and apses to it; each of their coat-of-arms can now be found amidst the designs and religious motifs on show.
16. Jaffa Gate
This delightful stone portal is set in Jerusalem’s imposing walls and is one of the main entrances to the Old City.
Its distinctive L shape helped defenders protect the gate and the sand-colored blocks certainly do look impenetrable.
Dating to 1538, Jaffa Gate opens out onto the Christian Quarter on one side and the Armenian Quarter on the other, and you’ll find a constant stream of pedestrians pouring beneath its ancient arch.
15. Jewish Quarter
Although part of the Jewish Quarter was bombed and destroyed during the 1948 Arab – Israeli War, much of it has been rebuilt, giving it a newer feel than many other parts of the city.
That’s not to say that there aren’t lots of historic and religious sites – the Western Wall and Hurva Synagogue are located here, among other important sights.
Wandering around the Jewish Quarter is one of the most interesting things to do in Jerusalem and visitors should definitely make sure to head to the atmospheric Cardo shopping street that was built back in Roman times.
14. Damascus Gate
Located in the northwest walls of the city, Damascus Gate is one of the main entrances to Jerusalem’s Old City. It certainly is impressive to behold with its wonderful crenulations and the two towers that flank it.
Built in 1537, the current gate has weathered numerous wars and invasions. Excavations indicate that a gate stood here as early as 130 CE.
Passing through it is an amazing experience as you follow in the footsteps of so many people who came before you, and walking along the ramparts offers a great view from above.
13. Mount of Olives
Lying just outside the Old City, the Mount of Olives looks out over Jerusalem. From its hillside, there are incredible views of Temple Mount and the glimmering Dome of the Rock.
As well as a scenic spot, it is also a historic and religious site; it is home to a large Jewish cemetery and numerous churches can also be seen here and there, such as the beautiful Russian Orthodox Church.
The oldest continually used cemetery in the world, the Mount of Olives is definitely worth checking out if you have time.
12. Tower of David
Known by some as the Jerusalem Citadel, the Tower of David offers up some of the best views of the Old City and is a fascinating place to visit. Some of the archaeological finds date back more than 2000 years.
Remarkably well preserved, the current citadel dates to Mamluk and Ottoman times and was built upon much older fortifications.
Located on site is the Tower of David Museum, offering an interesting look at over 4000 years of Jerusalem’s history through interactive exhibitions, holograms, and maps.
11. Via Dolorosa
Believed to have been the street along which Jesus walked during his crucifixion, the aptly named ‘Way of Sorrow’ is a historic street which runs through Jerusalem’s Old City.
Starting off from the Lion’s Gate, pilgrims and tourists alike can retrace Christ’s steps, ending up at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre where Jesus is believed to have been crucified.
Via Dolorosa is marked with nine stations depicting various parts of his journey; there are five more in the church itself. Every Friday, there is a procession along the route. Taking part in it will really make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
10. Dome of the Rock
Lying atop of Temple Mount, the Dome of the Rock sparkles in the sun and is recognized around the world. It is one of Jerusalem’s most famous landmarks.
Built between 688 and 691, the temple is home to a slab of stone from which Muslims believe the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven.
While only Muslims are allowed inside, the Dome’s outside is spectacular to behold. Bright blue mosaics coat the walls and the iconic gold plated dome sits atop, looking out over Jerusalem.
9. Western Wall Tunnels
Jerusalem’s long, tumultuous history has seen the city destroyed and rebuilt numerous times, which means that much of it is built on and out of the rubble and ruins of buildings that came before them.
As such, numerous tunnels snake their way beneath the Old City. A guided tour of the Western Wall tunnels offer visitors the chance to go back to the time of the second temple and explore a stretch of this fascinating underground world.
Running adjacent to the Western Wall, the tunnels are narrow and a bit claustrophobic but well worth checking out for the wealth of history on display.
8. Mahane Yehuda Market
This bustling market that has been around since Ottoman times is loads of fun to visit. The myriad colorful stalls are laden with everything from fruit and vegetables to pastries and fresh juice.
Offering an authentic look at life in the Holy City, Mahane Yehuda Market has numerous sections to it; some alleys are home to butchers while others host clothes and coffee sellers.
At night, the market transforms and many people come here for its great restaurants and bars.
7. City of David
Another attraction that is mired in controversy because it is now in an illegal Israeli settlement, the City of David is one of Jerusalem’s most important archaeological sites.
Located just outside of the Old City, it is here that King David first built the city of Jerusalem. Amidst the rubble and rocks, there are two ancient stone tunnels for you to walk along.
Adventurous travelers will love Hezekial’s Tunnel, which was once an aquifer. Water sometimes comes up to your knees as you wade along in the dark with a torch in hand.
6. The Garden Tomb
This marvelous rock-cut tomb dates back to the 8th-7th centuries BC and some Christians believe that it is where Jesus was buried and later rose from the dead.
Consequently, many pilgrims and tourists come to visit the peaceful gardens in which it is located, although it still remains a nice quiet spot away from the crowds that clog the Old City’s ancient streets.
Located next to the ominously named Skull Hill, there is much debate as to whether Jesus really was buried here, but is worth visiting in any case.
5. Temple Mount
Venerated throughout the centuries by all three of the Abrahamic religions, Temple Mount lies at the heart of the Old City and is one of the most fiercely contested pieces of land in the world.
Containing the Al Aqsa Mosque, it is the third most important site in Island and the holiest site in Judaism. It is here that the First and Second Temples were erected.
Wandering across the ancient limestone pavings of the huge cypress tree-fringed complex is a peaceful affair, despite the millennia of conflict that have plagued it. The highlight is seeing the Dome of the Rock with its iconic golden dome glistening in the sun.
4. Yad Vashem
A moving and emotional place, visiting Yad Vashem is a must when in Jerusalem. It is Israel’s official memorial to those who were brutally murdered during the Holocaust.
Lying on the slopes of Mount Herzl, the commemorative site contains the Holocaust Memorial Museum, which takes you through the horrific atrocities that the Nazis committed. Seeing all the photos of those who died in ‘the Hall of Names’ is something you’ll never forget.
While many of the audio, video, and items on display are shocking, just as many symbolize rebirth and ‘The Eternal Flame’ exhibit is a perfect example of this.
3. Church of the Holy Sepulchre
Believed to be the site where Jesus was crucified and later rose from the dead, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre contains two of Christendom’s most sacred sites. Its gloomy, atmospheric interior definitely warrants a visit when in Jerusalem.
Packed with pilgrims and tourists, the church is run by several Christian denominations, who reluctantly share responsibility amongst themselves. Consecrated in 335 AD, the church has been damaged, destroyed and rebuilt numerous times over the centuries
Entering the church after having wandered through the ancient stone courtyard is a memorable experience. Despite the crowds, it is a strangely peaceful place to visit. Seeing the Edicule shrine in which Jesus’s empty tomb lies will surely send shivers down your spine.
2. Israel Museum
Opened in 1965, the Israel Museum’s fantastic collection covers over 5000 years of history and its main focus is on art and archaeology.
Wandering through the archaeological galleries, you’ll find a wealth of artifacts discovered in the region, and items from the Islamic world, Near East, Italy, and Greece are all represented. The renowned Dead Sea Scrolls are just one of the highlights; gazing at the ancient biblical manuscripts is an awe-inspiring experience.
The Jewish Art and Life Wing of the museum is just as interesting to visit. Here, you can learn a lot about Jewish culture and traditions such as bridal and funerary practices.
1. Western Wall
The holiest site in Judaism is fascinating to visit and there is an electric atmosphere, as Orthodox Jews rock back and forth, praying at the Western Wall.
Supporting one side of Temple Mount, the area now acts as a de-facto synagogue. It is often known as the Wailing Wall, as Jews throughout the ages have come here to mourn the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE.
A must-see when in Jerusalem, visitors can stop by the segregated worship areas and experience the intoxicating ambiance themselves. You can even write a prayer and slip it into the cracks between the stones of the huge, white, rock wall.

Jerusalem and Dead Sea 4-Day Journey
The driver and guide were both excellent and very patient and professional. It was a bit difficult for me to have to get up so early every day. I understand we had a lot to do but on the Petra day we got to the camp so late and then had to eat, shower, etc so we could not sleep more than 6 or 7 hours before we had to get up. I think we could have had a bit shorter guided tour in Petra so we could start a bit later, as we hung around in the hot sun a lot and took things very slow. Everything else on the tour was great, although it would have been nice to have possibility to charge our phones on the Jordan bus.

8 Day Ultimate Israel and Jordan Tour Package
Our 8 Day Tour of Israel & Jordan was full and packed with history and amazing locations. The guides were knowledgeable and effective shepherds of the groups, Fadi - Wadi Rum/Petra, Mani - Nazareth & Sea of Galilee, Allan - Jerusalem, and Aviad - Caesaria/Akko, were especially personable and informative - Thank You All!! Daily email notification of next events from the office were helpful though could have included more information such as the name of the guide and any out of pocket expenses expected. Response to questions were received in a reasonable manner. Water should be provided on the bus. Logistics with luggage was a challenge. Late night from Petra and very early morning the next day may have been organized differently. Great value received for a fabulous (though exhausting) tour!!
Holyland Pilgrimage Trip Experience - 8 Days
I was shocked to find so many people ke (40) on the tour. Boaz the guide was very knowledgeable - please can we have a copy of the team photo he took of us all. The Tiberias hotel was awful, drain smelly, dirty carpet, brusque male receptionists. No buffet for first evening meal. The Jerusalem hotel was magnificent.

Police revive plan to build complex on beloved Jerusalem hill, angering residents
S outh Jerusalem residents are gearing up to renew their campaign against the building of a large police complex on a hill renowned for its seasonal flora and stunning views after the Israel Police announced that an examination of alternative sites had come to nothing and that the hill was the only option left.
The location, known as Mitzpe-Tel (a portmanteau of the Hebrew words for lookout and hill, which, when put together, also means “raspberry juice”), stretches between the Jewish neighborhood of Armon Hanatziv and the Palestinian neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber in southeastern Jerusalem.
It affords panoramic views toward the Temple Mount, Herod’s tomb at Herodium, the Judean Desert, the Dead Sea, and the Mountains of Moab in Jordan.
It serves as an outdoor community center most of the year round. But it is the spring carpets of blue lupines that bring in the crowds.
A year ago, the Jerusalem District Planning Committee approved the building of a 5,000-square-meter (54,000-square-foot) police station on the lower part of the hill.
This would replace a roughly 2,000-square meter (21,000-square-foot) temporary facility at the entrance to Jabel Mukaber that was built in 2014 at the request of Armon Hanatziv residents following the 2014 Gaza war.
The current site of the police station belongs to the supermarket magnate Rami Levy, who wants to build a hotel on it as part of a new neighborhood called Nof Zahav (View of Gold).
In August, following a long campaign by residents from both neighborhoods against building on the hill, and a petition to the Jerusalem District Court, the state announced it would freeze the plan and examine integrating the new police complex into the hotel.
A protocol from a meeting of the Jerusalem District Planning Committee that same month quotes the architect of the hotel, Yoel Feigin of Feigin Architects, welcoming the integration idea and presenting initial drawings.
The municipality said in a statement that the attempt to integrate the station into the hotel compound had not succeeded. It insisted that building on Mitzpe-Tel would affect neither the blossoms nor the view.
Armon Hanatziv activists rejected these claims.
Activist Gadi Dahan, a tour guide who lives in Armon Hanatziv, said the campaign, which has raised more than half of its NIS 180,000 ($48,000) target, was forced to resort to the courts.
“The police’s approach from the start has been ‘This is where we’re building the station, and that’s it,'” he claimed.
He said events aimed at raising awareness about the importance of the hill would resume.
“Our approach has always been to find a proper solution because the residents deserve both nature and security,” he said. “I met with the police in November, as part of a small group with our community managers, and their view hadn’t changed. But they only submitted their response to the Jerusalem District Court on February 28, the day after the municipal elections, which is bizarre timing.”
The district court will discuss the issue on April 30.
A statement from the Israel Police said that it had “checked a number of alternatives and in the end, the appropriate location was chosen which meets all the planning and operational aspects.”
The force chose not to provide any details about those alternative sites.
The new police station will serve both regular police and the Border Police, which focuses on fighting terrorism.
Reaching a maximum height of 791 meters above sea level, it is to include offices, living quarters, a parade ground, detention cells, a 30-meter (98-foot) high antenna, high voltage electric lines, weapons storage, and perimeter fencing with lighting and security cameras.
Before the plans were temporarily frozen, the district committee rejected most of the arguments against it and insisted that the building’s dimensions were related to “security needs in the area,” which is located over the Green Line.

'184th day in hell:' Hostage families express their anger at Netanyahu in Jerusalem
Six months after the Hamas attack on Israel, relatives of those detained in Gaza and opponents of the prime minister's policies are urging the government to change its strategy.

The families of the hostages held in Gaza never expected to confront this symbolic marker: "half a year," "six months" or, as it was referred to on Sunday, April 7, "184 days." This duration marks the number of days that have elapsed since the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, with its atrocities, the 1,200 dead and the more than 200 hostages taken to Gaza. According to a series of releases in November, 129 people are still being held in the enclave, with 34 considered dead.
For this date, the Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons arranged to meet in front of the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, on the western outskirts of Jerusalem. They aimed to signal their intention to change strategy to push the government to reach an agreement with Hamas and obtain the release of their loved ones. Six months ago, a " hostage square " was created in Tel Aviv, in front of the Museum of Art near the Kiryat headquarters building which houses the country's top military authorities. Now, the movement intends to intensify its action in Jerusalem, particularly in the area near Parliament.
'We don't know what to do'
On Sunday evening, the demonstrators came as families. Many parked their cars in the parking lot of the nearest shopping mall, Cinema City, with its kitsch decorations and fast-food outlets. They unfolded their Israeli flags, which had been neatly stored since the last protest, and held up signs featuring photos of their smiling, living relatives. Then, they assembled at dusk, close to the vacant Knesset building.
On the previous Tuesday, when the group of families decided to organize a four-day demonstration in front of the Knesset, protesters forced their way into the building, reaching the public gallery, where they smeared the protective glass with yellow paint. The yellow ribbons, a symbol calling for the release of the hostages visible throughout Israel since October 8, 2023, are starting to disappear.
In Jerusalem, on this "184 th day in hell," as many were calling it, there were many demonstrators. In addition to relatives and families of hostages, there were sympathizers: people angry with the government or anxious to show their feelings. This is not a mass movement, but a slow evolutionary process that is pushing the demonstrators more and more toward challenging the power of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Organizers claimed that 50,000 people gathered around parliament. That figure was definitely exaggerated, but the crowd was certainly present, full of questions, doubt and anger. Tony Braun is a member of one of the families who have been protesting for six months to demand the release of one of their own, in this case, the father of his daughter-in-law, 64-year-old Keith Siegel. "After six months, we've reached such a level of exhaustion that we don't know what to do. Tonight, we have come here, in front of the Knesset, to bring our request to parliament," explained Braun.
