emory university campus tour schedule

Are you planning to visit Emory University? Below are some frequently asked questions that may help you figure out the logistics of your visit:

Whether you plan to visit Emory College (in Atlanta), visit Oxford College (in Covington) or both (read our tips on how to visit both campuses while you are in town), we hope you enjoy your time here as you learn more about your college options.

When is the best time to visit Emory University?

emory university campus tour schedule

Campus tours are offered throughout the year, with some exceptions. All tours require reservations, and we recommend arranging your visit at least two weeks in advance to secure your spot.

Tours of Emory College are held most weekdays year-round, including summer. Saturday sessions are held at select times in the fall (late August to mid-December) and spring (late January to early May) semesters.

Tours of Oxford College are held most weekdays September through April. In the summer, weekday visits are available in the morning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Although summer classes are offered, most students either go home, have off-campus jobs or internships, or choose to study abroad during breaks. Since students are not on campus in the summer, tours are led by an Admission Advisor. Regardless of when you choose to visit, you will experience a wonderful campus tour from one of our amazing tour guides or staff. All tours offer an information session with an Admission Advisor.

What should I expect during a visit? (depending on the time of year when I come)

emory university campus tour schedule

On both campuses, visits consist of a campus tour and an information session with an Admission Advisor. This will typically last 2 hours and 15 minutes.

During the academic year, campus tours are led by a current student. However, during school breaks, your tour may be led by an Admission Advisor. Tours give you the opportunity to see a typical residence hall, the dining hall, and various academic buildings. Beginning May 2019, visitors will be able to tour the new Emory Student Center. You will also learn more about student life at Emory and have time to explore the campus on your own. Tours occur as scheduled, rain or shine. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.

During the information session, you will learn about Emory University’s history, what makes us different from other schools you may be considering, our academic offerings, and our admission requirements and process.

How can I make the most of my time on campus?

emory university campus tour schedule

Whether you are visiting Emory College or Oxford College, take the time to research academic programs and student organizations that you find interesting. During your visit, you will have time to ask your tour guide and Admission Advisor questions. This is your chance to find out more about what the school has to offer.

You can also eat lunch on campus, meander through the libraries and/or museums, hang out on the quad, and talk to current students on your own. We encourage all of our visitors to explore “off the beaten” path to discover how you feel about the campus environment.

Does visiting Emory University influence my admission decision?

emory university campus tour schedule

Emory University does not track demonstrated interest. We understand that not all students and families are able to visit campus for a variety of reasons—busy schedules, distance from Atlanta, and more—and we cannot expect all applicants to schedule a visit. A student’s lack of a campus visit will not negatively impact their admission decision. (Read more about why we don’t track demonstrated interest .)

If you are unable to visit campus, you can always explore our virtual visit options . We would be happy to help you with any questions you may have.

If you are able to come to campus, we appreciate you taking the time. We are happy to host you and show you all of the great things Emory University has to offer!

President Fenves giving remarks before the commencement assembly

Planning Your Visit

We are happy to announce the dates for the 2024 Commencement Ceremonies, May 9-13. Please check this website often as information will be updated as commencement nears.

We hope that the information presented below and on our schedule page will help you as you plan your visit to Emory's 2024 Commencement Ceremonies . The main Emory website also contains a helpful visitor's guide for general campus information.

All information presented below is subject to change. Visit this page frequently as you plan.

About the Event

Emory University’s Commencement experience comprises multiple ceremonies and events spanning five days.

University Ceremony on the Quadrangle: A university-wide celebration for 2024 graduates of all schools. Graduating students and their guests are invited and encouraged to enjoy the pomp and circumstance of Emory’s processional march featuring full academic regalia, the keynote address, honorary degree presentations, the president’s address to the graduating class, and the formal group conferral of all student degrees earned. Undergraduates are required to attend this event.

School Graduate Recognition Ceremony: Hosted by the school’s dean, this ceremony includes students being called forward by name to be individually recognized. More information about each ceremony can be found on the schedule page .

Do I Need To Register If I Am Not Planning To Attend?

Yes, all graduating students must provide a response via MarchingOrder even if not planning to attend the ceremony. This allows us to ensure that all graduates have had a chance to request tickets before any additional tickets are released.

  • Graduates who are attending the ceremony will be notified by email when/if more tickets are available to them.

The 2024 Commencement Speaker will be announced soon.

When Should I Arrive For The University Ceremony On The Quadrangle?

Entrances on the Quadrangle open for guest seating at 6:45 a.m. We recommend that guests plan their arrival to campus accordingly considering distance from campus, traffic, and parking. All guests will need a ticket to enter this event.

EPV shot of Class Day Crossover

Members of the Class of 2024 will celebrate their transition from Emory students to Emory alumni during the events of Class Day Crossover.

— Emory Photo/Video

Class of 2024, now is your time to live in the moment and enjoy the events leading up to Commencement.

Golden Globe award-winning actor Tyler James Williams has been named the keynote speaker for Emory’s 2024 Class Day Crossover, a program celebrating students receiving bachelor’s degrees from Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Goizueta Business School, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing and the Emory School of Medicine (Medical Imaging Program).

emory university campus tour schedule

Tyler James Williams will deliver the keynote speech for Class Day Crossover, happening May 9.

Following the Senior Reception, the Class Day Program begins in the ESC Multipurpose Room, kicking off Commencement Weekend. The program will feature senior awards, a final Coke Toast and student-selected Class Day speaker Tyler James Williams.

After the program, when the sun sets over Emory’s campus, students are invited to take part in a treasured tradition: the Candlelight Crossover. Students will receive candles and walk as a class from the ESC to McDonough Field while alumni, faculty and staff line the path and cheer, symbolizing the moment the Class of 2024 changes from students to alumni. Following the crossover, end the night with a glow party on McDonough Field featuring refreshments, including alcohol for those 21 and over, student DJs and senior class photo opportunities. Last year’s graduating class took more than 11,000 photos in the selfie-museum style photo environments.

Williams, the speaker for the Class Day program, is the 2023 Golden Globe winner for best supporting actor in a musical, comedy or drama for his role of Gregory Eddie in the award-winning series “Abbott Elementary.”

He frequently appears in both movies and television shows, from the critically acclaimed film “The United States vs. Billie Holiday” alongside Andra Day to a starring role in the Sundance-winning feature “Dear White People.” He has starred in CBS’ “Criminal Minds,” ABC’s “Whiskey Cavalier” and AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

Perhaps most notably, Williams was discovered at the age of five for the lead role in “Everybody Hates Chris,” which he starred in for four seasons.

“Tyler James Williams, whose career has been multifaceted to include acting, music and advocacy for education and youth empowerment, makes him an excellent choice for Class Day speaker,” says Zeaven Hoxie, a senior studying music with a concentration in vocal performance and neuroscience and a member of the student speaker selection committee for Class Day Crossover. “His advocacy for these causes makes him an approachable and motivating figure for students as they embark on their next chapter, be it academic or professional.

“We watched him as a young actor on programs like ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ and now see him in the award-winning show ‘Abbott Elementary,’” Hoxie continues. “His career not only serves as a source of inspiration, but also prompts introspective questions, like what challenges he faced along the way, or how we, as Emory seniors embarking on new phases, can apply insights given to us by an individual whose influence is not only well-established but also widely recognized across our generation.”

Class Day program speakers are selected by a group of graduating students. Previous speakers include Kal Penn, Scott Kelly, Chelsea Handler, Adam Richman, Kenneth Cole, Mia Farrow, Peyton Manning, Ben & Jerry, Bill Nye and Chipper Jones.

Recognition of outstanding graduating students

In conjunction with the food and festivities during the Class Day Program, which is open to all undergraduate seniors, several senior awards will be presented.

The Boisfeuillet Jones Medals honor students selected for their good citizenship, outstanding leadership, devoted service to Emory and the community, academic performance and potential to become a “change agent” in their chosen profession and society at large.

Presented to an administrator or staff member, the Brit Katz Senior Appreciation Award recipient is selected by seniors for service as a role model and friend to the Class of 2024, for participation in the Emory community beyond their professional duty and who is deemed worthy of special recognition.

The Knights of Emory Spirit Awards recognize two outstanding seniors who have made great contributions to the university and promote Emory spirit with passion and selflessness.

An invitation for Emory alumni, faculty, staff and community

Celebrating the Class of 2024 isn’t limited to graduating students. All members of the Emory community play an important role in helping students reach this milestone. Emory alumni, faculty, staff and community members are invited to light the path around the Student Center Plaza and Asbury Circle to cheer on graduates during the Candlelight Crossover.

Candles will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to sport their Emory gear, bring signs and cheer on the students. Before Crossover activities, alumni and community members are invited to enjoy a reception with Emory giveaways, wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres from 7-8:30pm in the Emory Student Center Commons, second floor.

Participation is essential to building on Emory’s tradition and culture of support, and thus is strongly encouraged for all who work with and/or support Emory students; please register to attend .

Commencement 2024

Emory University’s 179th Commencement events will take place May 9-13. Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, president and CEO of the Morehouse School of Medicine, will deliver the keynote address at Emory University’s 179th Commencement, scheduled for Monday, May 13, on the Emory Quadrangle.

The Commencement Ceremony is a ticketed event for all 2024 graduates and their guests. The ceremony will be livestreamed for the entire Emory community.

By exercising the Licensed Rights (defined below), You accept and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International Public License ("Public License"). To the extent this Public License may be interpreted as a contract, You are granted the Licensed Rights in consideration of Your acceptance of these terms and conditions, and the Licensor grants You such rights in consideration of benefits the Licensor receives from making the Licensed Material available under these terms and conditions.

Section 1 – Definitions.

  • Adapted Material   means material subject to Copyright and Similar Rights that is derived from or based upon the Licensed Material and in which the Licensed Material is translated, altered, arranged, transformed, or otherwise modified in a manner requiring permission under the Copyright and Similar Rights held by the Licensor. For purposes of this Public License, where the Licensed Material is a musical work, performance, or sound recording, Adapted Material is always produced where the Licensed Material is synched in timed relation with a moving image.
  • Copyright and Similar Rights   means copyright and/or similar rights closely related to copyright including, without limitation, performance, broadcast, sound recording, and Sui Generis Database Rights, without regard to how the rights are labeled or categorized. For purposes of this Public License, the rights specified in Section   2(b)(1)-(2)   are not Copyright and Similar Rights.
  • Effective Technological Measures   means those measures that, in the absence of proper authority, may not be circumvented under laws fulfilling obligations under Article 11 of the WIPO Copyright Treaty adopted on December 20, 1996, and/or similar international agreements.
  • Exceptions and Limitations   means fair use, fair dealing, and/or any other exception or limitation to Copyright and Similar Rights that applies to Your use of the Licensed Material.
  • Licensed Material   means the artistic or literary work, database, or other material to which the Licensor applied this Public License.
  • Licensed Rights   means the rights granted to You subject to the terms and conditions of this Public License, which are limited to all Copyright and Similar Rights that apply to Your use of the Licensed Material and that the Licensor has authority to license.
  • Licensor   means the individual(s) or entity(ies) granting rights under this Public License.
  • Share   means to provide material to the public by any means or process that requires permission under the Licensed Rights, such as reproduction, public display, public performance, distribution, dissemination, communication, or importation, and to make material available to the public including in ways that members of the public may access the material from a place and at a time individually chosen by them.
  • Sui Generis Database Rights   means rights other than copyright resulting from Directive 96/9/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 1996 on the legal protection of databases, as amended and/or succeeded, as well as other essentially equivalent rights anywhere in the world.
  • You   means the individual or entity exercising the Licensed Rights under this Public License.   Your   has a corresponding meaning.

Section 2 – Scope.

The Licensor waives and/or agrees not to assert any right or authority to forbid You from making technical modifications necessary to exercise the Licensed Rights, including technical modifications necessary to circumvent Effective Technological Measures. For purposes of this Public License, simply making modifications authorized by this Section   2(a)(4)   never produces Adapted Material.
  • Offer from the Licensor – Licensed Material . Every recipient of the Licensed Material automatically receives an offer from the Licensor to exercise the Licensed Rights under the terms and conditions of this Public License.
  • No downstream restrictions . You may not offer or impose any additional or different terms or conditions on, or apply any Effective Technological Measures to, the Licensed Material if doing so restricts exercise of the Licensed Rights by any recipient of the Licensed Material.

Where a limitation of liability is not allowed in full or in part, this limitation may not apply to You.
  • The disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability provided above shall be interpreted in a manner that, to the extent possible, most closely approximates an absolute disclaimer and waiver of all liability.

Section 6 – Term and Termination.

  • This Public License applies for the term of the Copyright and Similar Rights licensed here. However, if You fail to comply with this Public License, then Your rights under this Public License terminate automatically.

Where Your right to use the Licensed Material has terminated under Section   6(a) , it reinstates:

  • automatically as of the date the violation is cured, provided it is cured within 30 days of Your discovery of the violation; or
  • upon express reinstatement by the Licensor.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, the Licensor may also offer the Licensed Material under separate terms or conditions or stop distributing the Licensed Material at any time; however, doing so will not terminate this Public License.
  • Sections   1 ,   5 ,   6 ,   7 , and   8   survive termination of this Public License.

Section 7 – Other Terms and Conditions.

  • The Licensor shall not be bound by any additional or different terms or conditions communicated by You unless expressly agreed.
  • Any arrangements, understandings, or agreements regarding the Licensed Material not stated herein are separate from and independent of the terms and conditions of this Public License.

Section 8 – Interpretation.

  • For the avoidance of doubt, this Public License does not, and shall not be interpreted to, reduce, limit, restrict, or impose conditions on any use of the Licensed Material that could lawfully be made without permission under this Public License.
  • To the extent possible, if any provision of this Public License is deemed unenforceable, it shall be automatically reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable. If the provision cannot be reformed, it shall be severed from this Public License without affecting the enforceability of the remaining terms and conditions.
  • No term or condition of this Public License will be waived and no failure to comply consented to unless expressly agreed to by the Licensor.
  • Nothing in this Public License constitutes or may be interpreted as a limitation upon, or waiver of, any privileges and immunities that apply to the Licensor or You, including from the legal processes of any jurisdiction or authority.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Heritage College Class of 2024 Graduate Profile: Ashleigh Chiedo

HCOM Class of 2024 graduate Ashleigh Chiedo

Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Class of 2024 graduate Ashleigh Chiedo was born in Yonkers, New York but raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her bachelor's degree in exercise physiology at Florida State University and later completed her master's in biomedical and Health Sciences at the University Alabama, Birmingham. She will be doing a family medicine residency at Emory University in Atlanta.

What was your childhood like? Who were your inspirations? Was there anything critical that happened that brought you to this point in life?

My childhood was instrumental in creating the person I am today. Both my parents were born and raised in Nigeria and came to the U.S. in search of creating a life with limitless opportunities. My inspirations are my family members. Being the oldest of four children, I have been molded by those closest to me. However, [my inspirations] also include mentors I met along the way. Having parents working in health care, I was always more inclined to follow suit, but when my dad fell ill during my transition from grade school to high school that is when my fate was sealed. I knew from then on, serving others through the care I provide was going to be a part of who I am.

What led you to medical school?

I held a number of jobs in health care from medical scribe, surgical technician and medical assistant in between the degrees I completed. Through those experiences I witnessed gaps in care, I was an ally when health disparities were present, and I admired leadership that looked beyond and saw the bigger picture. I quickly realized I not only wanted to work in health care, but I also wanted to be a leader. Leaders are not merely born, they are created. I believe the hardships and challenges I faced has allowed me to be well suited to carry out leadership roles in the future, and I knew medical school was an essential part of that journey.

What was the most impactful experience you had while in medical school?

The most impactful experience I had in medical school was during my time as the student director of community outreach. I wanted to leave a legacy that would help propel our community forward. I drew up a blueprint for an OU-HCOM Public Day of Service and shared it with my counterparts on the Cleveland and Athens campuses as well as with school leadership. I then started coordinating how to create an opportunity where we would kick off National Osteopathic Medicine Week with students on all three campuses volunteering and giving back to their local communities. We were able to set up in-person engagements as well as canned food drives all in an effort to show gratitude to the areas we are training in. We successfully executed this wonderful act, and the next year its blueprint was used to make it a national initiative that now all osteopathic medical schools enact each year. This national tradition is two years strong and my contribution made that possible, and for that it is my most impactful experience!

What was the most important lesson you learned while in medical school?

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Medicine and leadership hinges on teamwork. It is important to learn how to best conduct yourself in team environments, because you can accomplish more with not only help but a diversity of ideas and backgrounds enriching your efforts. As medical students, we are all high achievers, but no one is above collaboration and teamwork.

Were you involved in research? If so, could you share more about what you worked on?

I have been heavily involved in research. I completed a Summer Research Fellowship at Mayo Clinic between my first and second year of medical school. During this time, I worked on a project with Astra Zeneca, a major pharmaceutical company, on learning the intricacies of pulmonary hypertension and its effects on human tissue so that we can better create a drug that can target the disease progression. I went on to submit a paper for a different project within the Mayo Clinic network that looked at how female hormones can impact bronchial smooth muscle cells in those with respiratory ailments. My most recent publication was with an infectious disease team at University of Alabama Birmingham. This project addressed the disproportionality in which HIV affects those of color in the South. The aim of this project was to create programs in the local high schools that will not only provide insight but also empower that same population to seek jobs in health care in an effort to change future outcomes.

What are you most excited about for your future?

I am most excited about becoming a family medicine physician and working in academics and leadership addressing the things I am most passionate about. Being able to complete my training at Emory University is going to set me up for success in many ways while allowing me to work with a population I am eager to serve. I am looking forward to being a mentor and being part of this rising generation of doctors who are dedicated to meeting the needs of their communities by being as broadly trained as possible. I am also, on a personal note, looking forward to getting married June 2024 and becoming a wife and future mother. Family is who made me who I am, and I can’t wait to build a strong one of my own!

Who has helped you along the way? Is there anyone you want to recognize?

Becoming a physician takes a village. I have a wonderful one which starts with my parents, Mark and Emilia Chiedo. I also have my wonderful siblings to thank: Brandon, Chelsea and Dylan Chiedo! My grandmother, Virginia, has also been very instrumental in my perseverance. Additionally, I would like to thank my fiancé, Thomas Eyre, for his unwavering support from the time we met in 2016. I am grateful for his parents, Bob and Sue Eyre, his siblings, Dan and Sammie, as well as their nurturing extended families who have supported me every step of the way.

How do you like to spend your free time?

In my free time I love to travel and see new parts of the world. I also love to cook, go to shows or concerts, play golf and spend time with loved ones!

What didn’t I ask that you’d like to share?

My parting words are that I urge you to “find your people” and “go where you are celebrated, not tolerated.” These two things were shared with me by mentors and has been constant reminders. The former refers to in your professional and personal life find those who make you better, who see the good you want to do and are doing similar, and whose values align with your own. The latter refers to never settling. In life you will be faced with many choices, but you should never have to choose between being yourself and being what others want you to be. Be steadfast in your pursuit of finding places that are overjoyed to have YOU and see your worth. Thank you OU-HCOM for seeing my worth and helping me grow as a rising physician. Go Bobcats!
