A poetic journey into a world of silence

MUMMENSCHANZ takes its “50 Years” anniversary production on tour through  The United States.

Since it was founded in 1972, MUMMENSCHANZ has delighted audiences and  electrified theaters all over the world. For its anniversary production – aptly titled “50  Years” – the Swiss multi-award-winning troupe will be taking audiences on a journey  of imagination and poetry, showcasing the most beloved sketches from the  foundation’s repertoire over the past half-century.

Since it was founded in Paris in 1972, MUMMENSCHANZ has been a global touchstone for  contemporary mask-based theater that transcends cultures and linguistic boundaries. The  theater company’s three founders, Floriana Frassetto, Andres Bossard and Bernie Schürch,  conquered the world without saying a single word, but using a purely visual language of  unsupported masks against a black background. As MUMMENSCHANZ, they carved out a  new niche in the performing arts.

With Andres Bossard’s passing in 1992 and Bernie Schürch’s retirement in 2012, Floriana  Frassetto remains as the main artistic driving force behind the multi-award-winning troupe.  The foundation has put on a host of full-length productions over the past 50 years. The  masks, performance techniques and repertoire have all evolved over the course of more than  100 productions, and MUMMENSCHANZ has used them to great effect on every continent.  A half-century after it was founded, the troupe continues to be one of the most popular  theater attractions worldwide, and is adored by critics and audiences alike.

To mark the foundation’s anniversary, Floriana Frassetto – the poet of silence – has devised  a production that will take the public on a 50-year journey through the fascinating world of  MUMMENSCHANZ. It will take a look at the most popular, successful productions of years  gone by, featuring legendary characters such as the Clay Masks and the Toilet Paper Faces.  “50 Years” will also see appearances by the delicate, air-filled Giants, the Pipe Creature and  plenty of other bizarre objects and shapes brought to life by the troupe’s five performers. The  production will also include sketches featuring surprising new forms and characters that  capture the signature MUMMENSCHANZ spirit.

This is an anniversary production without words or music. An imaginative, poetic journey that  needs no subtitles. “50 Years”: taking audiences on a magical, captivating two-hour journey  through the infinite – yet familiar — world of imagination conjured by MUMMENSCHANZ.

Fifty years on from its foundation, the “musicians of silence” are continuing to practice their  craft. As curious and ready for a challenge as ever, MUMMENSCHANZ takes everyday  objects and gives them a new lease of life. With its “50 Years” production,  MUMMENSCHANZ is taking a look back at its history – while writing the next chapter in its  story of inimitable, non-verbal language. “50 Years” is a playful, interactive experience and a  poetic production for all generations.

This fantastic journey through the world of MUMMENSCHANZ is lively, humorous, full of  affection and brimming with imagination. After completing a 25 city tour of Switzerland, with  over 100 shows, the U.S anniversary tour will begin on October 9th 2022 at the Dibden Center in Johnson, VT. It will travel across the United States finishing at the end of  November 2022 in Phoenix, AZ.

Floriana Frasetto, founder of Mummenschanz, will engage all with the history of Mummenschanz and the art behind the company. Props from the performance will be demonstrated. Q&A will follow.

Please learn about the company here prior to attending.

Floriana Frassetto (Swiss) is the daughter of Italian emigrants to the States (Norfolk, Virginia), she studied at Alessandro Fersen’s Theatre Academia in Rome from 1967 to 1969. She completed her training as actress attending a comprehensive course (mime, acrobatics, dance) at Roy Bosier’s Teatro Studio. Between 1969 and November 1970, she worked in Rome in several pantomime and theatre productions. The idea of founding MUMMENSCHANZ resulted from meeting, in 1972, Andres Bossard and Bernie Schürch … two young Swiss clowns called Before and Lost.

She has since then co-invented the repertoire of MUMMENSCHANZ and played in each performance. The creation of costumes, the choreography of Giancarlo Sbragia “Faust” played in the Roman amphitheatre of Taormina (Sicily), the staging of some MUMMENSCHANZ scenes for André Heller’s musical Body and Soul, the artistic collaboration with Isabelle Baudet for the children musical Oliver Twist in Lausanne (Switzerland) all rank among her best individual achievements.

ARTIST BIOS

FLORIANA FRASSETTO Floriana Frassetto (Swiss), studied at Academia Alessandro Fersen in Rome from 1967 to 1969. She completed her training as an actress while attending a school for mime and acrobatics at Roy Bosier‘s Teatro Studio. She then worked with the company of Roy Bosier in several school productions that toured Italy. The idea of founding MUMMENSCHANZ resulted from meeting, in late 1970, Andres Bossard and Bernie Schürch – two young Swiss clowns called “Before and Lost” that performed a partially spoken show. Floriana became the third member of the new company in 1972 and together they co-created the repertoire of MUMMENSCHANZ, converting the spoken numbers to masked visuals. Floriana has performed on tour worldwide for the last 47 years. She feels herself an artisan of fantasy and has always been motivated to construct new shapes along with Bernie. Since Bernie’s departure in 2012 she has been tormented by the challenge of creating a new show, which she has now done with plenty of new ideas. That has been possible thanks to the collaboration with Tina Kronis and Richard Alger. Other notable experiences include the choreography and the costumes for Giancarlo Sbragia’s Faust and André Heller‘s musical Body and Soul, and an artistic collaboration with Isabelle Baudet for the children musical Oliver Twist in Lausanne (Switzerland). She is the artistic director of MUMMENSCHANZ.

TESS BURLA Tess Burla was born in 1981 and grew up in Murten, Switzerland. After completing her studies in psychomotor therapy, she trained as a dancer in Barcelona and Berlin. In 2009, she completed a master’s in dance education at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). She has been a member of Cie Chapeau (and formerly Paula fliegt) since 2015. She gained experience working with Marcel Leemann, and as part of Brigitta Schrepferʼs Somafon, human kinetics movements arts, and Collectif de Marchepied. Burla works as a freelance dancer and is a founding member of cie deux plus. In addition to dance performances in collaboration with live musicians (Simone Abplanalp and Ursula Hofmann), she also made an appearance as part of the clown duo Nasva and Ravu in 2018. Her journey with MUMMENSCHANZ began in 2019.

SARAH LERCH Sarah Lerch was born in 1983 and grew up in Bern, Switzerland. She studied acting at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri before going on to create her own dance and theater productions. From 2009 to 2011, she toured throughout Europe with the Czech company Continuo Theatre. She then returned to Switzerland and completed a master’s degree in Physical Theatre at the ATD. She is a two-time winner of the Migros Kulturprozent competition and a member of the Swiss Study Foundation. In 2014, she co-founded the international company Wakouwa Teatro and gave birth to a baby boy. She is a versatile performer and choreographer working on a variety of major stage projects, with collaborators such as Volker Hesse, and regularly teaches acrobatics and aerial silks. From 2019 to 2020, she was co- director of the Theaterzirkus Wunderplunder with Kevin Blaser. Sarah joined MUMMENSCHANZ in 2021 for its 50th anniversary production. KEVIN BLASER Kevin Blaser (Swiss), born in 1990, is a young artist from Ticino. In his early age he showed a strong interest in movement and art. He stood out in gymnastics and in skateboarding in which he found a companion with whom he travels the world. Passionate for music, he perfected his skills in percussion and drums, with which he continues to play in various bands. Through theatre he discovered the means for full expression of himself and entered the school for physical theatre Accademia Teatro Dimitri, where he obtained his Bachelor in 2015. He played in different theatre and cinema productions as „Gilgamesh“ (from Patrizia Barbuiani), „Gotthard 2016“ (from Volker Hesse), „Tutti Giù“ (from Niccolò Castelli). In July 2016 he started his journey with the MUMMENSCHANZ company. MANUEL SCHUNTER Manuel Schunter was born in Munich (Germany) in 1985 and has lived primarily in Switzerland since 2007. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Physical Theatre at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri and a master’s degree in Expanded Theatre at the Bern University of the Arts. He has since given numerous performances and toured as a clown in the world of circus and vaudeville (with Circus Monti, Circus Roncalli, Das Zelt, Circus Sarrasani and at Circus Knie’s centenary celebrations, among others). He was a permanent ensemble member with the Theater Madame Bissegger and the Origen Festival. Manuel’s theater engagements have included performances with the Stadttheater Freiburg, LAC Lugano, and Espace Nuithonie. Besides his activities as a performer, he also directs various stage productions and lectures at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Manuel has been a member of MUMMENSCHANZ since the summer of 2022.

ERIC SAUGE Eric Sauge (Swiss) is the Technical Director of the company. With more than 10 years of experience in the entertainment business, he now specializes in lighting and machinery effects. Employment by large organizations provided him with world-wide travel. Through his experience and many trips abroad he acquired solid knowledge in technical and team management. Back in Switzerland he continued to train in the field of lighting for events such as theater and television, in which he mainly occupied the roles of console operator and project manager. In 2014 he met MUMMENSCHANZ in Lausanne, and wishing to return to the theatre scene, he joined them as their Technical Director.

Mummenschanz Tickets

Mummenschanz show tickets.

See a spellbinding and surreal performance with Mummenschanz tickets. Mummenschanz is a mask and prop-based theatre troupe from Switzerland known for their subtle choreography, intricate use of light and shadow and oftentimes bizarre masks. The troupe takes its name from the German word for “mummery,” a type of traditional folk play typically performed door-to-door on holidays. “Mummer” is also a 16th century English term for a mime.

Mummenschanz was formed in 1972 in Altstatten, Switzerland by Floriana Frassetto, Andres Bossard and Bernie Schurch. After extensive studies with choreographers Roy Bosier in Rome and Jacques Lecoq in Paris, Mummenschanz set off on their first series of US and European tours in 1973. The group’s novel approach to dance and theatre saw them begin a three-year run on Broadway in 1977. That same year they appeared on The Muppet Show and Sesame Street , then in 1980 won the prestigious Rose d’Or prize.

Mummenschanz has since appeared in a slew of further television programs and music videos, and in 1995 toured across the world in collaboration with actor John Charles Murphy. Make sure you buy Mummenschanz tickets here for your seat in the crowd to take in this hypnotizing and spectacular production live.

Mummenschanz Ticket Prices

Mummenschanz ticket prices vary for each production. Prices can vary depending on demand and depending on the city. A theatre ticket on Broadway will always be more expensive than a touring production. Seating arrangements also impact ticket prices. A premium orchestra seat close to the stage costs more than a standard balcony or upper-tier seat.

How much are Mummenschanz tickets?

Mummenschanz tickets for a premium orchestra seat have a price range of around $150-$350 per ticket depending on the venue. Stick to your budget with cheap seats in the back of the theater. A balcony seat will typically run $35-$55 each. Due to the size of the theatres on Broadway, ticket prices in New York can sometimes be 50-75% more than a touring performance.

Mummenschanz Tour Dates & Schedule

Check the Mummenschanz schedule above to find a tour date that is convenient for you. When the performance is running for a week or longer, it usually runs Tuesday through Sunday with Matinées typically available on Saturday and Sunday. Be sure to catch the show at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles , Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, Sarofim Hall at the Hobby Center in Houston or another theatre near you.

When do Mummenschanz tickets go on sale?

Mummenschanz tickets go on sale for a touring production once the new performance dates are announced. Typically, within 24-48 hours of the Mummenschanz tour dates being announced, seats will be available. TicketSmarter makes it easy to get Broadway musical tickets in your hands without waiting in line at the box office window or for a presale code.

Mummenschanz Seating Chart

Mummenschanz seating capacity will vary from venue to venue depending on the location. Most of the theatres on the tour stops will have less than 3,000 seats. For example, Barbara Mann Performing Arts Hall has a capacity of only 1,874 whereas Dreyfoos Concert Hall at the Kravis Center has a capacity of 2,195. The Musical Hall in Kansas City has a capacity of 2,363. If you are looking for cheap Mummenschanz tickets, explore the upper balcony in most cases. Sometimes there will be discount tickets available in the rear portion of the Orchestra.

Select your perfect premium seat in the orchestra or mezzanine or get a VIP box seat. You can hopefully catch Mummenschanz playing in your city as this award-winning show tours across the country. Use the Mummenschanz seating chart above to secure your seats when it stops at a city near you.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Santigold Announces New Shows After Canceling Entire Tour in 2022

Fans of Santigold will finally be able to catch the star in concert.

On Tuesday, the musician announced that she'll be hitting the road for several, sparsed-out shows through June, August, and October this year after she canceled her Holified Tour in 2022 , citing artist welfare and the mental-health and economic challenges plaguing those who make music for a living.

The new run of shows includes appearances at Redondo Beach's Beachlife Festival in May and Seattle Pride in June. She'll also stop at New York's Terminal 5 and Toronto's Rebel in August, before resuming her tour in October with shows in Portland and Vancouver.

Presale tickets go on sale on April 3 at 10 a.m. local time via password WITNESS24, while general tickets will go on sale on April 5 at 10 a.m. local time

The tour is her first since dropping her 10-track LP Spirituals , which features "My Horror," "Shake," and " High Priestess ." Several weeks after dropping the album and announcing a tour, the singer canceled her entire run of shows. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2022, she discussed how unsustainable it has been for musicians to make a living with the current music business model, where artists are burning out, and touring can cost them more than they can bring in.

"I don't know any other job that you have to pay to do your job and end up in debt," she said. "That's telling all these new generations of brilliant, amazing potential artists: Don't choose this job. And they won't, and we're going to lose out culturally from that."

HOUSTON – There’s a Scottie Scheffler story from the old WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, where after both the 2021 and 2022 events, Scheffler and his wife Meredith had a big dinner with friends in Austin, Texas, his college town.

The 2021 dinner followed a runner-up finish, as Scheffler lost to Billy Horschel in the final match. The next year, it was to celebrate a victory. From the joyful tone at dinner, though, the difference was indecipherable.

This anecdote, first shared on the “Golf. Life. Faith.” podcast, is instructive when evaluating Scheffler’s mentality, which will be a popular point of discussion into next week’s Masters Tournament, where the world’s No. 1 player will eye his second green jacket.

Scheffler finished runner-up to Stephan Jaeger on Sunday at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, missing a 5-footer on the final hole of regulation that would have forced a playoff at Memorial Park Golf Course – and extended his chances of a third consecutive TOUR title in as many starts. It wasn’t meant to be, as Scheffler’s birdie try burned the edge, but his performance in his adopted home state continued a multi-year run of form that has rivaled Tiger Woods at his statistical peak, with the accompanying results.

Behind the scenes with Scottie Scheffler after PLAYERS win

Scheffler earned his first TOUR title at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, and that was just the precipice. He has recorded 21 top-three finishes on TOUR since that win – no other TOUR player has recorded more than 10 in that span – and he has added seven more TOUR titles, including the 2022 Masters. He leads the TOUR this season in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green by a wide margin (he averages 2.798 strokes gained per round, nearly a stroke more than No. 2 Xander Schauffele at 1.817.) Last season, Scheffler gained 2.615 strokes per round, nearly seven-tenths of a stroke more than No. 2 Rory McIlroy.

Scheffler, 27, is blessed with incredible talent, only matched by a natural work ethic that allows him to find joy in the process. Practice sessions are fun for him and always have been, dating back to his childhood days when he’d beg his dad for a ride to the range on ice-cold winter days in Montvale, New Jersey, and then at Royal Oaks in Dallas after the Scheffler family moved to Texas.

These tales have been well-told through Scheffler’s rise from acclaimed junior player to college player to Korn Ferry Tour player to PGA TOUR player to PGA TOUR superstar. They’re also a clue as to his sustained form.

Scheffler isn’t driven by the results; he’s driven by the process, having said as recently as last week that his home life hasn’t been changed much by success in professional golf. He’s as fiery as ever inside the ropes – there was a club slam after his second shot found the water on the par-4 16th Friday at Memorial Park – but that demeanor shifts quickly once he exits the arena. After each round last week, he lit up when saying hi to Meredith and friends, offering a smile and his trademark exuberant wave upon recognition.

Following Sunday’s narrow runner-up finish, Scheffler met the media at an interview area adjacent to the player parking lot. It was a mentally taxing week on the course – the central narrative, whether could he become the first to win three straight TOUR starts since 2017, came oh-so-close to fruition – and he had a frictionless exit ramp if he chose to take it. But he returned to the front of the clubhouse, signing for fans and engaging in lighthearted banter with them. That wasn’t for show; it was because he wanted to, and the playful conversational tone suggested that he had already mentally detached from the tournament’s outcome.

“Winning is fun, but it only lasts a few seconds or a few minutes,” he said in Houston. “It's funny, it seems like you think my life would have changed a lot, but it really only has changed out here (on TOUR). At home, it hasn't changed that much. That will change significantly in the next month when our baby comes, that'll be the big change. But at home, no. We still have the same friends, still have a great support system.”

Not only does Scheffler love the game, he’s in love with the game – he appeared happy as a clam in the minutes before his final-round tee time in Houston, carrying a large-sized bucket of range balls and testing himself in different ways: bump-and-run pitch shots, bunker shots, short-sided pitches over the bunker. No entourage nearby, not even caddie Ted Scott (who was close at hand if needed), just Scheffler, a wedge and some practice balls.

That practice served him well as he hit a series of crafty pitches to stay in the mix Sunday – including one from short-right of the par-5 third green, starting on a line 20 feet right of the flag and bumping it off the slope; the ball rolled to 6 feet and he drained the birdie putt.

Scottie Scheffler chips it tight to set up birdie at Houston Open

These types of shots will come in handy at Augusta National, as Memorial Park was a worthy precursor – minimal rough, tightly mown areas around the green that allow for creative short-game decision-making. Scheffler ranked a pedestrian 26th for the week in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green – down comparatively from his No. 4 ranking this season – but his short game kept him in it down the stretch Sunday, making crafty up-and-downs for par on Nos. 10 and 12 before ultimately finishing one back of his playing partner Jaeger, who made nine consecutive closing pars.

Scheffler would have preferred a victory in the Lone Star State, of course – a stroke-play TOUR title in his adopted home state continues to elude him – but he’ll arrive at Augusta National as the oddsmakers’ clear favorite, and deservingly so. He’ll take this week off before heading to the land of the loblolly pines.

Scheffler’s form is as good as ever, and he knows the Masters will end the same regardless of the outcome – with a goofy wave to his family. Therein lies intangible power.
