The 13-city, 14-date outing will also find the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer playing East Rutherford, New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium for the first time since 2016. “I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back!,” the indefatigable 79-year-old said in a statement.

The tour will mark some other firsts and landmarks for Macca, who will make his live debut in three cities — Hollywood (FL), Knoxville (TN) and Winston-Salem (NC) — as well as his first gigs in Fort Worth, Texas and Baltimore, Maryland since 1976 with Wings and 1964 with the Beatles, respectively; he’ll also play in Oakland for the first time in 20 years.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the general public beginning Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. local time, with American Express card members invited to get in early on Tuesday (Feb. 22) at 10 a.m. local time through Thursday (Feb. 24) at 10 p.m. local time. The Got Back dates are McCartney’s first run of live shows since his 39-date, 12-country Freshen Up tour wrapped up in July 2019.

Paul McCartney will return to the road this year, announcing his 13-show Got Back tour, which will launch this spring.

The run will kick off April 28 at the Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington, (his first-ever show in the city), and wrap June 16 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (his first time there since 2016). McCartney will also play Hollywood, Florida, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for the first time, while he’ll return to Fort Worth, Texas, and Baltimore for his first shows there since 1976 with Wings and 1964 with the Beatles, respectively.

The Got Back tour marks McCartney’s first full-fledged tour since his Freshen Up run, which wrapped in July 2019. While not on the road — understandably, because of the pandemic — McCartney has stayed busy with a variety of other projects, like releasing his latest solo album, McCartney III , in December 2020. Last year, he also starred alongside Rick Rubin in the Hulu docuseries McCartney 3, 2, 1 , and he was also involved as a producer on Peter Jackson’s Beatles doc, Get Back .

Paul McCartney announces first live shows since 2019 with the Got Back tour

The run of 13 US dates kicks take place between April 28 and June 13

Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has announced that he will play 13 dates across the US, naming his first live outing since 2019 the Got Back tour.

The shows will include dates in LA, Boston, Baltimore, Seattle, LA and Orlando, as well as spots that McCartney has not previously visited or has not played in decades, including Hollywood, FL, Knoxville, TN and Winston-Salem, NC.

“I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you,” says McCartney. “Well, I got back!”

As much as it is possible to say so of one of the world’s most enduringly popular songwriters, the former Beatle is enjoying something of a renaissance following the release of Peter Jackson’s 2021 documentary series Get Back , hence the nod in the tour’s branding.

The series has offered a more nuanced and surprising portrayal of the band’s fraught 1969 sessions, casting McCartney and the British icons’ approach to the Let It Be and Abbey Road recordings in a newly sympathetic and humorous light.

Tickets for the new McCartney dates will be on sale from next Friday (February 25), though American Express card holders get early access, with tickets available to them from February 22.

Paul McCartney Announces The 2022 ‘Got Back’ Tour Of The US

Danielle Chelosky

Paul McCartney is about to hit the road this spring and summer with a just-announced US run dubbed the Got Back tour, his first tour since before the pandemic.

The former Beatle released McCartney III Imagined last year after deciding to continue his classic solo series. It featured collaborations with musicians like Beck, Phoebe Bridgers, and Euphoria star Dominic Fike.

“I was living lockdown life on my farm with my family and I would go to my studio every day,” he said in 2020. “I had to do a little bit of work on some film music and that turned into the opening track, and then when it was done I thought, ‘What will I do next?’ I had some stuff I’d worked on over the years, but sometimes time would run out and it would be left half-finished, so I started thinking about what I had.”

Check out the tour dates below.

Paul McCartney Kicks Off 2022 North American Tour in Spokane: Recap, Photos + Setlist

McCartney's first US outing in three years featured a virtual duet with John Lennon

Paul McCartney Kicks Off 2022 North American Tour in Spokane: Recap, Photos + Setlist

Early into the opening night of the “Got Back Tour” on Thursday (April 28th), Paul McCartney pointed out an attendee’s sign held aloft. It displayed a message that this night in Spokane, Washington — McCartney’s first live show since July 2019 — marked the fan’s 124th McCartney concert.

“It’s beautiful, we love it,” the Beatle said as cameras flashed the sign to the 12,000-plus folks filling Spokane Arena. “But it’s slightly obsessive.”

McCartney’s deadpan humor didn’t disappear during his time off the road, nor did his ability to craft a stunning, nearly three-hour set that somehow manages to thrill the Beatlemaniacs, give proper due to his too-often-neglected Wings work, and slip in a few surprises and new songs as well.

Even so, with a catalog as stacked as McCartney’s, it’s impossible to include every “Jet,” “Back in the U.S.S.R.” and “A Hard Day’s Night” when you want to showcase tunes from your most recent albums. “Women and Wives” from 2020’s McCartney III made its live debut, and he played two songs from 2018’s Egypt Station (“Fuh You” and “Come On To Me”).

The kickoff of the “Got Back Tour” was an unusually intimate affair for a McCartney roadtrip. Spokane Arena, tucked in a small city in Eastern Washington, is by far the smallest venue he’ll play on his “Got Back Tour,” a jaunt that includes shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Fenway Park in Boston and Met Life Stadium in New Jersey (get tickets here ).

Sir Paul McCartney MBE is an English musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.

He was part of perhaps the most famous British band of the 20th century, The Beatles who are regarded as one of the most popular and influential acts in the history of rock music and his songwriting partnership with John Lennon is one of the greatest of all time. McCartney has been recognised as one of the most successful performers of all time collating 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles of his work with the Beatles and as a solo artist.

In 1999 he received the honour of being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist due to the fact that he has written, or co-written 32 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2014 he has sold more than 15.5 million RIAA-certified units in the United States. McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr received MBEs in 1965, and in 1997, McCartney was knighted for his services to music. He performed at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games and is seen as ambassador of British music.

McCartney first met Lennon at a church fete in 1967 where he was performing with his current band The Quarrymen, little did they know they would form such a close working relationship and would eventually become the most successful recording band in history. Cited as the driving force behind the first ever rock concept album, 'St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club', McCartney kept creativity at the forefront of everything he did.

He currently holds an honorary doctorate degree from Yale Music, a Brit Award for an Outstanding Contribution to Music, twenty-one Grammy Awards and a knighthood. The tireless musician is still touring to this day and shows no sign of slowing.

Live reviews

The Paul McCartney concert on October 30, 2014 in Greensboro, NC was far and away the best concert I have been to and I have been to many. To see this music legend alone is amazing but to see him and his band, not missing a beat the entire evening, goes beyond amazing. McCartney's voice gave just a little a couple of times but his enery and showmanship was spot on, and and other than those one or two times, his voice was as rich as ever. Make no mistake, the tickets were expensive but you get every penny's worth of your money back in the show you get. He started late, about 45 minutes or so, but then played for almost 3 straight hours and did 2 extended encores. Just amazing. I saw BB King not too long ago and he played about the length of one of McCartney's encores and just droned on and on for the rest of the hour long show, telling stories that I guess he found entertaining but no one else did, as evidenced by a few boo's. Sad and a waste of good money. Don't get me wrong-I still love BB King but it was a sad waste of time and money that night. You will not have any waste seeing Paul McCartney. His renditions of the old Beatles songs were a delightful step back in time, his Wings songs as tight as ever and it all just got better and better. The lighting and background effects on a large wall of lights produced beautiful effects that went from psychadelic to photo's of children, the Beatels, buildings and more. Standing alone and playing an acoustic guitar on a large block that rose about 20 feet above the stage was fantastic, with a full moon, leafless tree and midnight blue sky behind him. And then a large blue rose forming on the front of the block just set the mood for his excellent guitarwork and vocals. When the show ends with Live and Let Die, they pyrotechnics were amazing. The roar of about 16,000 fans combined with fireworks and blasts of flames in perfect unison was the way to hit a finale. And the 2 encores were a perfect end to a perfect night. If you get a chance to see Paul McCarney, go-just go! Worth the money and then some!

PAUL MCCARTNEY is Out There playing for 3 hours. Yes, that is right! Pauly rocked the sold out show for 3 hours. This is the third time I have had the pleasure of seeing him and have seen many other bands but this was the best show I have ever seen. Not only did he rock out with fab Beatle songs like "Helter Skelter" but he also slowed it down with songs like "The Long And Winding Road". He treated us to some great Wings surprises like "Hi Hi Hi" and "Listen To What The Man Said". He also played some great songs from his latest album "New". I have his concert DVD's and he added many different songs to the mix while still keeping in some of the hoped for favorites.

I don't want to give anything away but there are some awesome surprises music wise awaiting the lucky person who will attend one of his shows.

This is a must see show, the material spanned his entire career. He sounded fantastic and he looks great! To all the ladies out there, you will still swoon when you see him! I did! He was funny and charming. One of the most refreshing things was that you could tell he was having an awesome time and you felt like he wanted to stay and play longer as much as you wanted him to stay and play longer! He really shows his fans that he cares about us as much as we care about him.

A very cool and unexpected event: He brought a couple up onstage who had a sign stating that he was ordained and would he marry them. He did a short little ceremony for them stating that it really wasn't legal but it was awesome! I totally wanted to grab the guy next to me (who I didn't know) and yell "We're next!"

I really think this is a show for anyone who really loves music. Paul was changing his guitar's and bass's out even playing one of his original guitars that he used for Sgt.Peppers. Throwing in an awesome tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Go see him if you get the chance. I would go again tonight if I could!

Beatles legend and Wings mainman, Paul McCartney will remain indelibly etched into the annals of time. The humanitarian, bassist and vocalist has traversed six decades, performing in some of the world's biggest and best venues, at historic moments (Band Aid), and unique moments (who ever pegged Macca as a Nirvana member?!), McCartney is a one-of-a-kind performer, fully deserving his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 72-year-old Liverpudlian is entirely at ease on stage – he's essentially lived there for the best portion of his life – his catalogue is studded with megaton hits. Bond theme “Live And Let Die” (replete with flamethrowers when performed at festivals), Stevie Wonder duet “Ebony and Ivory”, “Coming Up” and “Jet” are non-Beatles bangers, but he frequently performs legendary cuts like “Let It Be”, “Back In The USSR” and “Hey Jude” at the end of his sets. How thoroughly immense is it watching a genuine Beatle lead a rousing chorus of “Naa naa naa nanananaaaaa?" Though arguably not as elastic as he once was – don't expect too many backflips – he's still a consummate entertainer. His voice has aged, but he still smashes every note, and his fretwork's not diminished a smidgen. It's rare you get to see a legend in the flesh, but grab any chance to witness McCartney, and you'll not regret it.

Paul McCartney. Just let the legend of that name sink in.

I can honestly, without a doubt say that this was the best concert/show I have ever been to (and I have been to numerous concerts).

Not only did he perform his New songs, but he performed all of his hits from The Beatles to The Wings as well. And I am sure he barely hit the top of the iceberg with what he performed considering his incredible library of number 1s and hundreds upon hundreds of songs.

This 72 year old man performed a 3 hour nonstop performance in clouding pyrotechnics, memoriams to his late and great Beatle counterparts, and 3 encores without breaking a sweat.

He may not be able to hold his notes as long as he did when he was younger but he still sounded amazing nonetheless. I was blown away and so happy that I can tell my kids when I am older that I saw one of The Beatles and it was perfect.

I don't think I have ever recommended a concert as highly as I am for Sir Paul. He is a living legend and am honored to have seen him rocking, running all over the place and putting on a great performance at the age of 72.

YOU MUST GO SEE HIM LIVE. It's an experience well worth the money and his tickets start at 25 for far seats but even so, WORTH IT.

BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE!! I can say Even one of the most incredible moments of my life. I know what it means being able to see the legend Sir Paul McCartney live and he fullfill all my expectations and way more! His band is absolutely amazing!

But let me tell you the highlight of my year:

I could only afford the cheapest level tickets but I was more than ok with that since i was going to see my idol, then on my way to our seats with my 2 girlfriends, an angel waiting at the top of the stairs ask us to see our tickets and then offer to change them, we were surprised and maybe thinking it was a scam but then she pulled her envelope with 3 FIRST ROW TICKETS!! Best seat in the arena, she identify herself as part of Sir Paul team, and after many thank yous and hugs we went to see the biggest concert.

Thats why he is the absolutely GREATEST rock star of this planet! Beacuse he truly cares about his audiences, i will never in my wildest dreams tought i was going to see able to be on the first row, besides the wonderful drama of the situation his performance was perfect, spotless, he is full of energy and will be forever grateful to him for such an amazing night.

Sir Paul McCartney concert in Munchen was fabulous (Fab four, Fab one :)). The Olympiastadion was full of happy delighted people who were lucky enough to get a ticket. There were Beatles fans along with Wings and Macca fans from many different countries, young and not so young people, all cheerfully singing the everlasting songs and dancing to our beloved music that defined the lives of many of us. The show went on for full 2 hours and 40 minutes, almost 40 songs from all periods, from late 50's to nowadays hits.

For me, it was a once in a lifetime event. I grew up with Beatles and Paul McCartney music, and I have been waiting for a long time for this. It's been a long time since I bought my first Beatles record, even long time since I bought my last one (not to mention I have all Beatles records plus many of their solo albums :)), and the possibility to see one of my heroes live in concert, it was just a dream come true.

It was worth every single penny spent on concert ticket, air ticket, airport transfers, accomodation for couple of days, and of course whole lotta german beer :)

Long live Sir Paul, long live Beatles, forever live their eternal music!

This is the second time I've seen Paul McCartney in the past few years, and yet again he did NOT disappoint. First of all, he played almost 3 hours both times, so you will get plenty of bang for your buck based on the duration of his show alone. Secondly, considering he is 72 years old, he still nails most of the hard notes and delivers a true, genuine performance while frequently interacting with the audience in between songs. Paul is a very personable character that makes the fans feel appreciated and loved as much as we love him. His show started with a few songs that would be recognizable to the casual fan, it delved off into some less "commonly" known songs and a couple cuts from his new album (which also sounded great), then he closed out the show with MANY huge hits and sing-alongs that definitely left the audience wanting more! The pyrotechnics that kicked in during Live and Let Die were unexpected and amazing! I think he also did three encores as well, and I would definitely return to watch any future shows he does in Kansas City!

I don't need to say how amazing this man is and how happy I am to have attended this show. On "Live and let die" there was even pyrotechnics and fireworks. Paul was telling us stories, singing and joking, I think he switched more than 5 guitars during the show and the evening was just overall beautiful.

The venue was terrible, though.. There was no warning about not bringing the bags and we had to pay 15 Euros to leave the bag before getting in - backpacks were not allowed at all (so they basically forced us to give this money as it was too late to go back to hotel and leave it there). Also the security check was useless.. We were drinking in line to warm up and forgot about empty bottle in the pocket.. Guess what? We were able to bring a GLASS BOTTLE through security check, cause we didn't remember and they never checked.. What if I was a psycho? It's glass after all.

As soon as the legend, Sir Paul McCartney himself took the stage, the magic began! He performed for three solid hours, entertaining the crowd with songs written with the Beatles, with Wings, and on his own. I got teary-eyed when he first came into view, as you don't expect to see a legend, at 72 years old, still performing at the top of his game! Paul McCartney still LOVES what he does! Financially, he doesn't need to perform. He does it because he loves to and because he still can, which is impressive! This concert shall be one of my favorites for a long time - and I've attend many concerts in my lifetime. He came out and did two encores, even running around the stage. He never sat down unless poised at the piano. A legend, a master, a must-see!

Concert Tour

Paul McCartney 2022 Tour Dates

While it’s not a huge concert tour, at least it’s something. One of the last two remaining members of band The Beatles is going back on tour this 2022 year and even I have to admit that I am psyched beyond belief. The mighty Sir Paul McCartney is going on tour and is calling it the Got Back Tour . Back in 2019 when McCartney last toured, he ended with the statement “I’ll see you next time.”. He just recently continued “I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back!” and he’s keeping his promise. The Paul McCartney Tour 2022 , aka, Got Back Tour , begins when Sir Paul takes to the stage on April 28th at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington. Other cities that will be graced with his presence include Seattle, Los Angeles, Oakland, Orlando, East Rutherford, Knoxville, Boston, Syracuse, Baltimore, Fort Worth and others. At the time of writing this, there’s only 14 Paul McCartney tour dates that make up this tour, but hopefully he’ll extend it by adding more (a lot more) venues. It’s not like there’s not a big demand, Paul McCartney could sell out any venue many times over if need be. As long time fans of Paul McCartney, we’re hoping he plays a lot of classics, but also include some of his newer music. He recently released his latest album called ‘McCartney III Imagined’ which hit the public back 2 years ago but will hopefully be part of the set list for this present trek.   Check down below for the latest official list of Paul McCartney tour dates . You’ll also find links to look for tickets , and a playlist of some of Paul McCartney’s more popular music videos.

Watch Paul McCartney, the Eagles Perform ‘Let It Be' at Jimmy Buffett Tribute Concert

Paul McCartney celebrated Jimmy Buffett during a tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl last night, sharing memories of the musician and performing the Beatles' "Let It Be" with the Eagles.

"I had the great pleasure of knowing Jimmy," McCartney told the audience. "And like everyone else on the bill tonight has said, this is one great man. He was generous, he was funny, he'd done just about everything in his life."

He added, "I was on holiday with him and I forgot to bring my guitar, so he had his own guitar strung left-handed for me. And then the next time I saw him he'd had one custom made left-handed for me."

He explained that he sang several songs for Buffett during the last week of his life and wanted to perform one of them for the concert. McCartney, who was introduced by Dave Grohl, showcased the 1970 song at a grand piano while backed by the Eagles.

The concert, "Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett," also featured Brandi Carlile, Kenny Chesney, Jon Bon Jovi, and Zac Brown. The musicians, including McCartney, came together at the end of the show to perform "Margaritaville" with Buffett's own Coral Reefer Band.

Elsewhere during the tribute concert, Coral Reefer Band, Brown, and Grohl teamed up for a cover of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl," while Sheryl Crow showcased "Fins."

Brown took the opportunity to debut a new song, "Pirates and Parrots," which will officially be released on April 19.

Snoop Dogg also appeared onstage, performing his song "Gin and Juice" for the audience.

Buffett died on Sept. 1, 2023, at the age of 76. At the time, McCartney wrote , "He had a most amazing lust for life and a beautiful sense of humour. When we swapped tales about the past his were so exotic and lush and involved sailing trips and surfing and so many exciting stories that it was hard for me to keep up with him. Right up to the last minute his eyes still twinkled with a humour that said, ‘I love this world and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it'.  So many of us will miss Jimmy and his tremendous personality. His love for us all, and for mankind as a whole."

Paul McCartney Reveals He Sang 'Let It Be' for Jimmy Buffett in the 'Last Week of His Life'

"He still had that twinkle in his eye," The Beatles singer said of Buffett at Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett at the Hollywood Bowl on April 11

Paul McCartney is sharing a touching insight into the final weeks of his friend Jimmy Buffett ’s life.

Speaking at a tribute concert to honor the late folk rock artist, who died at age 76 last September, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on April 11, McCartney, 81, recalled how he was invited to sing for Buffett at his home by his wife Jane Slagsvol .

“Just in the last week of his life, I was invited up to his house by Janie,” McCartney said on stage at Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett ahead of his performance. “And I was invited up there to sing a couple of songs for Jimmy, and he was in a pretty bad way, but he still had that twinkle in his eye. So I thought I'll sing one of those songs that I sang to him tonight.”

McCartney then took to the piano to perform “Let It Be” with little accompaniment for the iconic musician.

The Beatles bassist/singer also shared a sweet anecdote about Buffett, whom he called “one great man," and a vacation the two took together.

Tim Mosenfelder/WireImage

“He was generous. He was funny. He'd done just about everything in his life,” said McCartney. “And I say he was so generous. I was on holiday with him and I forgot to bring my guitar. So he had his own guitar strung left-handed for me … And then the next time I saw him, he'd had one custom made left-handed for me. So I love Jimmy.”

Along with McCartney, others honoring Buffett and celebrating his life and musical legacy at the one-night only show included the Eagles, Jon Bon Jovi , Sheryl Crow and Snoop Dogg .

Crow, 62, recalled how she was hired by Buffett as a backup singer before she got famous — and she made quite the arrival for their first performance together.

“I was hired by Jimmy Buffett …I was absolutely a nobody. And I got to sing backup on 'Off to See the Lizard' with Timothy B. Schmidt,” explained Crow. “But I have to preface the story by saying I came from St. Louis. I flew to Miami. I got on a small commuter jet. We had a bomb scare. They flew us in a hundred yards above the water. They foam landed us, and then the FBI showed up. And then forevermore, Jimmy would say, ‘This girl knows how to show up to a party.’ "

She concluded, "I will tell you, he is for me the most beautiful illustration of what it means to be alive and awake and absolutely present in every moment.”

Meanwhile, Dolly Parton appeared at the tribute concert in a pre-taped message as she shared her own words of kindness for the “Margaritaville” singer.

“Jimmy Buffet was a dear, dear friend of mine,” began Parton, 78. “I know he is looking down thinking, ‘What are you people doing? Did y'all have a margarita?’ And I'm sure we did. Most of us right? Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love Jimmy like all of you do. What a great human being he was. What a great talent he was. What a sweet, sweet soul.”

The late singer’s longtime touring band The Coral Reefer Band also played at the event and were introduced to the stage one by one by McCartney after his own performance.

Following Buffett’s death, McCartney — who played bass on “My Gummie Just Kicked In” on Buffett's final album, Equal Strain on All Parts — paid tribute to the Grammy-nominated star on social media.

“It seems that so many wonderful people are leaving this world, and now Jimmy Buffett is one of them. I’ve known Jimmy for some time and found him to be one of the kindest and most generous people,” wrote McCartney on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“He had a most amazing lust for life and a beautiful sense of humour. When we swapped tales about the past his were so exotic and lush and involved sailing trips and surfing and so many exciting stories that it was hard for me to keep up with him,” he continued, adding, “So many of us will miss Jimmy and his tremendous personality. His love for us all, and for mankind as a whole.”

McCartney concluded his post, which featured a photo of the duo laughing and holding hands, “So long, Jim. You are a very special man and friend and it was a great privilege to get to know you and love you. Bubbles up, my friend. Love, Paul.”

Buffett died from Merkel cell carcinoma a rare and aggressive skin cancer, just over eight months ago.

His death was announced in a statement posted on his social media and website .

“Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs," the statement — which was accompanied by a touching photograph of Buffett sitting on a boat — read. "He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many."

Dave Grohl introduced McCartney to the stage, and the Beatle spoke about his relationship with Buffett. “I had the great pleasure of knowing Jimmy, and like everyone else on the bill tonight has said, this is one great man,” he said.

“He was generous, he was funny, he’d done just about everything in his life. I was on holiday with him and I forgot to bring my guitar, so he had his own guitar strung left-handed for me. And then the next time I saw him he’d had one custom made left-handed for me.”

McCartney then took to a grand piano and performed ‘Let It Be’, backed by The Eagles. Watch the footage below, including Grohl’s introduction and McCartney’s speech to the crowd:

A posthumous album, ‘Equal Strain On All Parts’, that Buffett had been working on before his death was released in November , and featured the McCartney collaboration ‘My Gummie Just Kicked In’.

In  a social media tribute to Buffett  following his death, McCartney announced his involvement in the album, writing: “I was very happy to have played on one of his latest songs called ‘My Gummie Just Kicked In’. We had a real fun session and he played me some of his new songs.

“One [new track], in particular, I loved was the song ‘Bubbles Up’. And I told him that not only was the song great but the vocal was probably the best I’ve heard him sing ever. He turned a diving phrase that is used to train people underwater into a metaphor for life when you’re confused and don’t know where you are just follow the bubbles – they’ll take you up to the surface and straighten you out right away.”

In other McCartney news, he recently shared an embarrassing story from one of The Beatles’ earliest live performances .

“We had this gig and it was the first thing I ever played, and I was lead guitar player,” he explained. “John [Lennon] was rhythm. I had a solo and I totally froze. Could not move my fingers.”

“It was just so embarrassing. My lead guitar playing career melted at that moment and I said, ‘Well, I’m not doing this again. I’m not cut out for this. I’m no good.’”

Last week,  Macca commented on Beyoncé’s cover of his song ‘Blackbird’ , commending her for using it to “ease racial tension”.

Queen Bey included her version of the track on her new record ‘ Cowboy Carter ’, which was released on March 29. The song was originally released on The Beatles’ self-titled 1968 album, commonly referred to as ‘The White Album’.

“I am so happy with @beyonce’s version of my song ‘Blackbird’,” he wrote on social media. “I think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place.”

It was also confirmed that Beyoncé used The Beatles’ original ‘Blackbird’ backing track  in her cover of the song.

Last month, an artwork that was banned for being “too unflattering” in its depiction of him is heading to auction .
