macOS Ventura 13.4.1 (a)

Released July 10, 2023

Available for: macOS Ventura 13.4.1

Impact: Processing web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.

Description: The issue was addressed with improved checks.

CVE-2023-37450: an anonymous researcher

This update fixes a webkit issue. So I suspect it will be Facebook that has to make a change, not Apple. Most reports are about Facebook. In my personal experience it’s only Facebook, all other websites I visit regularly are fine.

And who knows what games Facebook plays with its website. Maybe Apple just closed a Facebook back door.

And Facebook was responsible for the previous bug where the news feed kept going and going and going all on its own. Took them about two weeks to fix it.

This just happend to me today 7/10/23. Yesterday Facebook was normal. Today I get the "Facebook not supported" message and Facebook shows up in a single column in the center of the display. Not very useable. What is going on here? Apple technical support had no idea, and said it's not their problem. I wonder if there is anybody at Facebook who can help with this, or even cares about this.

Jul 11, 2023 6:08 AM in response to medialp

I have no intention of removing the update because I value the security patch more than accessing Facebook and WhatsApp, and all of the routine websites I regularly visit are just fine. I’ll simply wait for the “patched patch” to be released.

The word on the street from the experts is that the (a) in the version number is the culprit causing some websites to become confused. That tells me the patch itself is good.

FWIW, if the security issue the RSR addressed was in any way critical, I seriously doubt Apple would have pulled it.

Instagram, WhatsApp and Zoom aren't sites I normally (or ever) use, but I visited each one just now and they all appear normal to me.

This based on opening all three sites in Safari, Firefox and Brave. They all display the same, as does Facebook.

Facebook doesn't support Safari 17.1 on Monterey 12.7.1, either. Facebook must have decided it doesn't need to run on MacOS Safari.

Other Web sites are also freezing on Safari 17.1.

I guess this means a switch to Chrome.

How to Use the Full Facebook Desktop Site on Mobile [Quick Guide]

facebook.com on safari

With the increasing use of mobile devices worldwide, mobile browsing has become more prevalent. According to a study conducted in 2020, about 60% of website visits are made on mobile devices.

As a result, companies and web developers are putting significant effort into ensuring their websites provide an excellent user experience on mobile devices.

There are several ways to enhance the mobile experience of users, including making the website responsive to the screen size and redirecting users to a mobile-specific version of the site. Facebook has opted for the latter option.

In this article, we will explore how to access the full Facebook desktop site on mobile devices.

How to use the full Facebook desktop site on mobile

To use the full Facebook desktop site on mobile, follow these steps:

  • Open your mobile browser and visit the Facebook website.
  • Once the mobile version of the site has loaded, tap on the three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and click on “Desktop Site”.
  • The page will refresh, and you should now be viewing the full desktop version of Facebook on your mobile device.

Note that not all features of the desktop version may be available on mobile, and some elements may be difficult to view or use on a smaller screen.

Facebook Desktop Site in Mobile Chrome

To use the Facebook desktop site on mobile Chrome, follow these steps:

  • Open Chrome on your mobile device and go to the Facebook website.
  • Tap on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen to open the Chrome menu.
  • Scroll down and select “Desktop site” from the menu.
  • The page will reload, and you will now see the Facebook desktop version on your mobile device.

You can now use Facebook on your mobile device as if you were on a desktop computer. Keep in mind that some features may not work as well on mobile, so it’s best to use this option only when necessary.

Facebook Desktop Site in Mobile Safari

To use the Facebook Desktop Site on Mobile Safari, you can follow these steps:

  • Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad and navigate to www.facebook.com .
  • Once the mobile version of Facebook loads, tap and hold the “Refresh” button located at the top-right corner of the screen.
  • A menu will appear, and you need to select “Request Desktop Site.”
  • The page will then reload, and you should see the desktop version of Facebook.

Alternatively, you can also try entering “ www.facebook.com/home.php” into Safari’s address bar, and this should redirect you to the desktop version of Facebook. Keep in mind that using the desktop version on a mobile device may not provide the best user experience due to the smaller screen size, so it’s recommended to use this option only if necessary.

Troubleshooting Tips: How to Log into Facebook on Safari

Are you having trouble logging into Facebook via Safari? If so, you’re not alone! Many people have encountered this issue when trying to use the world’s most popular social network. Don’t worry though; we’ve got some helpful tips that should hopefully help you get back on track with Facebook!

First things first, make sure you’re using a supported browser. Currently, Facebook only supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera. If you’re using any other browser (like Safari or Chrome), you could be running into compatibility issues.

If that doesn’t solve your issue, try closing your Facebook app and restarting it. To do this, double press your home button and swipe upwards on the Facebook thumbnail. Then reopen your Facebook app and try again.

If that doesn’t work either, try clearing your website and history data. This is especially important if you’ve been accessing Facebook through a browser like Safari or Chrome for a while; sometimes the cache can beome corrupted and cause issues with accessing sites. To clear your website and history data in Safari: open Safari Settings > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data > Confirm Removal of All Website Data.

Finally, if all else fails, consider switching browsers for accessing Facebook. Though this may seem like an extreme measure just to access one site, it could be worth it if all other options have been exhausted!

We hope these tips have helped get you back on track with logging into Facebook via Safari! If none of these solutions worked for you, don’t hesitate to reach out to the friendly team at Facebook for additional assistance!

The erratic behavior of Facebook on Safari can manifest in various ways, including sudden jumps to the top or bottom of the page, unexpected shifts in the layout, and difficulties in scrolling through the content. These unpredictable movements not only disrupt the user's browsing flow but also hinder their ability to engage with posts, comments, and other elements on the platform. Such erratic behavior can lead to a disjointed and disorienting browsing experience, detracting from the overall usability and enjoyment of the Facebook platform.

The issue has been a topic of concern among Safari users, sparking discussions and inquiries across online communities and support forums. The impact of this issue extends beyond mere inconvenience, as it can impede users' ability to engage with content, connect with others, and derive value from the platform. Consequently, there is a pressing need to delve into the root causes of this issue and explore viable solutions to restore stability and functionality to the Facebook browsing experience on Safari.

The next section will delve into the potential reasons behind Facebook's erratic behavior on Safari, shedding light on the factors contributing to this perplexing issue. By unraveling the complexities surrounding this phenomenon, we can gain valuable insights that pave the way for effective solutions and workarounds to mitigate its impact.

Possible Reasons for Facebook's Behavior

The erratic behavior exhibited by Facebook on the Safari browser may stem from a confluence of technical and compatibility challenges. One potential reason for this behavior could be attributed to the complex nature of modern web applications and the intricacies of rendering dynamic content within the Safari environment. As Facebook continually evolves its platform with new features, interactive elements, and real-time updates, the browser's ability to handle these dynamic components effectively becomes paramount.

Moreover, the utilization of advanced web technologies, such as JavaScript and asynchronous data fetching, to deliver a seamless and interactive user experience on Facebook may pose compatibility challenges when interfacing with the Safari browser. The intricate interplay between Facebook's codebase and Safari's rendering engine could lead to unexpected behaviors, including the observed erratic movements and layout shifts.

Furthermore, the optimization of Facebook's platform for a diverse range of browsers and devices introduces the potential for discrepancies in rendering and performance across different environments. Safari's unique rendering and layout engine, which distinguishes it from other popular browsers, may encounter compatibility issues when processing the complex web components and interactions present on the Facebook platform.

Additionally, the utilization of browser extensions and plugins by Safari users can introduce further variables into the equation. Certain extensions, designed to enhance browsing functionality or provide additional features, may inadvertently interfere with the rendering and execution of Facebook's code, leading to unexpected behaviors and disruptions in the user interface.

It's also worth considering the impact of browser updates and version disparities. As both Facebook and Safari undergo iterative updates to introduce new features, security enhancements, and performance optimizations, disparities in version compatibility may contribute to the observed erratic behavior. The dynamic nature of web technologies and browser standards necessitates ongoing adaptation and refinement to ensure seamless compatibility between platforms.

In essence, the potential reasons for Facebook's erratic behavior on Safari encompass a spectrum of technical intricacies, compatibility challenges, and the evolving landscape of web technologies. By acknowledging these factors, we can gain a deeper understanding of the complexities at play and pave the way for effective solutions and workarounds to address this perplexing issue.

Impact on User Experience

The erratic behavior of Facebook on the Safari browser exerts a profound impact on the overall user experience, significantly impeding the seamless interaction with the platform. Users navigating the Facebook interface via Safari encounter a myriad of challenges stemming from the platform's erratic behavior, ultimately diminishing the usability and enjoyment of their browsing experience.

The disruptive nature of Facebook's erratic movements and layout shifts on Safari introduces a sense of disorientation and frustration among users. As they attempt to scroll through their news feed, engage with posts, or interact with various elements on the platform, the unpredictable jumps and shifts hinder their ability to maintain a coherent browsing flow. This disjointed experience not only detracts from the platform's usability but also diminishes the overall satisfaction derived from engaging with Facebook's content and features.

Moreover, the erratic behavior of Facebook on Safari undermines the fundamental principles of user interface stability and predictability. Users rely on a consistent and intuitive browsing experience to navigate and engage with the platform seamlessly. However, the unexpected movements and layout disruptions introduced by Facebook's erratic behavior on Safari erode this sense of stability, leading to a sense of unease and dissatisfaction among users.

The impact of this issue extends beyond mere inconvenience, as it directly impedes users' ability to consume and interact with content effectively. Whether users are attempting to read posts, view images, or engage in discussions, the erratic behavior of Facebook on Safari introduces unnecessary hurdles, hindering their ability to derive value and utility from the platform.

Furthermore, the disruptive nature of Facebook's erratic behavior on Safari may erode users' confidence in the platform's reliability and performance. As users encounter persistent challenges in navigating and interacting with the interface, their trust in the platform's ability to deliver a consistent and seamless browsing experience may diminish, potentially leading to a decline in user engagement and satisfaction.

In essence, the impact of Facebook's erratic behavior on Safari transcends mere technical inconveniences, permeating the core of the user experience. By impeding users' ability to navigate, consume, and engage with content seamlessly, this issue undermines the fundamental principles of usability and user satisfaction, necessitating effective solutions and workarounds to restore stability and functionality to the browsing experience.

WILD ANIMAL SAFARI® PINE MOUNTAIN CELEBRATES REMARKABLE RECOVERY ONE YEAR AFTER DEVASTATING TORNADO

PINE MOUNTAIN, Georgia, March 26, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Parks! America (OTCPink: PRKA), commemorated today the one-year anniversary of the tornado that wreaked havoc on the grounds of its Wild Animal Safari Park in Pine Mountain, Georgia. Despite facing unprecedented challenges, the park has demonstrated resilience, undergoing extensive reconstruction efforts to restore and enhance animal habitats, park infrastructure, and the guest experience to continue providing an unforgettable wildlife adventure for visitors.

In the wake of the tornado on March 26th, 2023, Wild Animal Safari ® Pine Mountain encountered significant setbacks from immediate storm damage, including over 4,500 fallen trees, miles of damaged fencing, with nearly 20 structures and animal habitats sustaining significant damage. This led to a twenty-day park closure and a loss of over $1 million in revenue. Through unwavering determination and community support, the park immediately initiated recovery efforts, investing approximately $1 million in the considerable clean-up and rebuilding endeavors, including extensive tree removal, repairing nearly 3 miles of fencing and the construction of a new giraffe barn.

"The past year has been a testament to our team's resilience and the unwavering support of our community," remarked Lisa Brady, President, and CEO of Parks! America, Inc. "Despite the challenges we faced, we remained steadfast in our commitment to restoring Wild Animal Safari® Pine Mountain to its former glory, and I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made."

( For more tornado related images visit: https://animalsafari.com/pine-mountain-media-kit/ )

Katie Harrison, Zoo Director, expressed her gratitude for the collective efforts that enabled the park to overcome adversity. "The dedication of our team and the outpouring of support from our community have been instrumental in our recovery journey," said Harrison. "We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to continue providing a safe and enriching environment for our animal residents and visitors alike."

Despite the remarkable progress achieved over the past year, Wild Animal Safari ® Pine Mountain acknowledges that there is still work to be done. Reconstruction efforts have included repairing the majority of the dozen-plus enclosures that were damaged, including the construction of a new giraffe barn, and new wolf and bear habitats. Additionally, significant repairs have been made to sidewalks and fencing in the walkabout area, enhancing both safety and aesthetics.

Looking ahead, the park remains committed to its ongoing revitalization efforts, with a focus on key projects that will further elevate the visitor experience. Among these initiatives is the construction of a new restroom building, as the prior structure sustained irreparable damage in the tornado. This project will also feature an enhanced arrival experience and entry plaza, expected to be complete in late summer of 2024. Additionally, the first phase of a multi-phase rebuild of the park's big cat area is underway, with an all-new carnivore night house for the park's tigers and lions. Furthermore, new in 2024, visitors can experience our all-new South America encounter featuring capybara feeding, enriching the park's diverse array of attractions.

Ms. Brady adds, “Our 2024 projects are well underway, and while we look forward to the completion of new and improved restrooms and the arrival experience, we are all grateful to be welcoming guests for our 2024 spring break and continuing to deliver epic laughs, smiles, and memories for our visitors.”

The one-year anniversary of the tornado coincides with the start of Wild Animal Safari ® Pine Mountain's busy spring break and summer season. As the park welcomes visitors old and new, it stands as a symbol of resilience, strength, and the enduring power of community spirit.
