Live reviews
I have seen Katherine Ryan live a lot of times I have even seen her show glam role model 3 times so for me to give her any less than 5 stars would be a lie! During this show Katherine sent me a message to come back stage for wine and grapes (oh how the other half live) and she was nothing but lovely! Truly made us feel like we was one of the gang! She always seems to get me involved with the show from pretending to do the N-Dubz sex tape or show off my kathbum shirt (which I made my self) her jokes are always on point with her strong but sweet acid mouth! I had worked in theatre for 6 years meaning I have met some of the best stand ups around! But Katherine Ryan always has time for fans she always has a great MC and is only to happy to take photos with! Katherine Ryan always owns the stage and that's why she is the queen of comedy! Making Kathbum a must see show!

The Duchess is going back on tour, and this time it's bigger than ever.
Katherine Ryan made her way from Canada to London in 2007 and quickly gained a name for herself in the comedy circuit, performing at open mic nights while still working full-time as a corporate trainer for the restaurant chain Hooters.
It wasn't long before she left Hooters behind and became a familiar face on both stage and screen. From her early days performing in bars to now regularly appearing on 8 out of 10 Cats as a team captain, as well as writing and starring in her own Netflix series The Duchess, Katherine Ryan is a force to be reckoned with in the UK comedy scene.
She's even featured as a lead act on BBC's Live at the Apollo, as well as having two of her own Netflix stand-up specials.
Katherine Ryan been compared to the likes of Joan Rivers thanks to her caustic humour, sharp wit and willingness to tackle any tough subject, from Botox to celebrity culture to motherhood.

Katherine Ryan: Missus at the London Palladium review: she’s living her best life and we love it
The Evening Standard's journalism is supported by our readers. When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.
Last time I saw Katherine Ryan onstage in 2018 she was singing the praises of singledom. “Men are like dolphins, best enjoyed on holiday,” she said. A lot has happened since then. A virus has swept across the planet and Ryan has embraced marriage, as she explains in her new show, Missus.
Things did not always pan out as planned during the pandemic for the sassy, sardonic stand-up. Missus charts the bullet points of the recent years in the life of Ryan. Not just nuptials, but also giving birth to a second child and vanquishing a burglar. Each story is jam-packed with punchlines and slickly delivered.
Fans may be familiar with some anecdotes. Her husband is Bobby, her childhood sweetheart who she reconnected with when visiting her Canadian hometown for Who Do You Think You Are?, or “Please Don’t Let Me Be A Nazi”, as she wickedly calls it. Love bloomed despite a language barrier – Bobby speaks English but with such a strong accent people think his name is Barbie.
The romance material is chat show-honed but with bonus pay-offs here. The same goes for Ryan’s recollections of being burgled. The incident was widely reported but in the flesh the tale is garnished with new detail. Ryan ensured that throughout the ordeal, as is the case onstage too, she never spilt a drop of her ever present wine.
This is very much a personal show. There is a brief digression about politics in which she suggests the government needs a spokesperson who does not tell lies and a passing defence of non-woke comedy, but the emphasis is very much on Ryan and her lawnmower-loving hubby.
Between routines Ryan engaged brilliantly with the audience. Fans revealed they had come from as far afield as Atlanta, Macedonia and, erm, Chiswick and she had a wisecrack for every occasion. Ryan is smart enough to combine the acid tongue of Joan Rivers with gentle charm. There were withering put downs yet she also paused to autograph a book mid-set.
The scripted material closed with the freshest anecdote, about Ryan’s pregnancy last year. She wanted a home birth, but her doctor scotched that notion, deeming her “geriatric” as she was over 35. Instead she opted for a no expense spared private hospital delivery, complete with afternoon tea. Except that nature had other ideas.
This account neatly tied up the theme that you never know what is round the corner, from long lost love to random break-ins, so just live your best life. It is a corny philosophy but it works for Ryan and helps to make this such a winning show. Missus is an absolute hit.

News: katherine ryan announces new tour.
Star of Netflix hit The Duchess (along with two global Netflix comedy specials: In Trouble and Glitter Room), comedian and TV’s Katherine Ryan makes a hugely welcome return to the stage with her brand-new live show Missus. The tour starts in Crawley on September 2, 2021. Details here .
Having previously denounced partnerships, Katherine has since married her first love… accidentally.
A lot has changed for everyone, and we can look forward to hearing Katherine Ryan’s new perspectives on life, love, and what it means to be Missus.
Katherine Ryan is currently dominating the television and live comedy scenes, both in the UK and abroad. Her debut Netflix sitcom The Duchess was released in September 2020. Katherine not only stars in the lead role, but also wrote and executive-produced all episodes. The series has amassed a legion of fans and some fantastic reviews. The Times remarked: “Every other line is a perfect stand-alone haiku of comic brilliance”, Camilla Long of The Sunday Times wrote: “It's a savagely rude and whip-smart sitcom based on Ryan's experiences as a single mother, and I devoured it in one sitting”.
The Duchess follows two acclaimed stand-up specials for Netflix – the second of which, Glitter Room, was released globally on 1 July 2019, following 2017’s In Trouble. Katherine was only the second UK-based comedian to get a Netflix Global 60’ special released in all territories after Jimmy Carr – and is still the only woman.
Katherine will soon be seen hosting the primetime BBC Two talent competition series All That Glitters, which features eight talented jewellers going head to head (a Bake Off for jewellery making).
She will also soon grace our screens as Joan Rivers in When Joan Kissed Barbra, opposite The End of the F***ing World’s Jessica Barden as Barbra Streisand, for Sky Arts’ Urban Myths series. It will be available in October on Now TV as well as Sky Arts.
Katherine also has an acclaimed, hugely popular podcast entitled Telling Everybody Everything, which began life at the start of lockdown and hasn’t yet been out of the UK Comedy Podcast Top Ten. It is hosted by Acast.
She has co-hosted six series of Comedy Central’s smash hit show Your Face or Mine, with Jimmy Carr, and has judged four series of Comedy Central’s hit show Roast Battle. Earlier this year, Katherine was a team captain on E4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats series 22, along with fellow team captain Rob Beckett (who is on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, November 7, on ITV1) and host Jimmy Carr. She hosted the marquee all-female 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Special (C4) in 2018, and has been a regular contributor on Cats Does Countdown for many series. She also co-hosted Channel Four’s tentpole Alternative Election Special with Krishnan Guru Murthy in December 2019.
Having been a treasured stalwart on British panel shows for many years, Katherine was a team captain on Netflix’s first ever global comedy panel show The Fix – alongside host Jimmy Carr.
