Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour breaks record as highest-grossing music tour ever

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is officially the highest-grossing music tour ever, becoming the first to surpass $1 billion dollars in revenue.

The tour, which began in March 2023 and is set to conclude in December 2024 after a total of 151 shows worldwide, has earned $1.04 billion (£840 million) to date, according to Pollstar.

This breaks the record set by Elton John’s five-year farewell tour which ended earlier this year, bringing in $939 million (£749 million) over 328 shows.

Swift’s sixth concert tour is in fact so popular that it has earned more than this year’s next two highest-grossing tours (Beyoncé’s and Bruce Springsteen’s) combined.

Beyoncé’s 56-date Renaissance World Tour broke Madonna’s 14-year-old record for the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist , earning $579 million (£468 million) between May and October, before The Eras Tour subsequently took the title.

Described by Swift as a journey through all her musical “eras”, each show is over 3.5 hours long with a set list of 44 songs divided into 10 acts.

It has received immensely positive reviews from critics, who have heaped praise on the production’s concept and quality, as well as Swift’s performances.

Her devoted fanbase, the Swifties, have turned out in full force to see their idol, crashing ticketing sites, selling out hotels, and even causing earthquake-like seismic activity at certain shows, as happened in Seattle in July.

With roughly 72,000 people in attendance at each concert, and tickets averaging around $238, the tour is grossing over $17 million per show.

According to Pollstar, 4.3 million tickets have been sold to date, and at this trajectory, the tour could realistically rake in over $2 billion dollars if all the remaining scheduled shows are played.

Merchandise has also proven to be a lucrative source of revenue, with estimates that it has brought in around $200 million so far.

The Eras Tour is just one of Swift’s many successes in 2023. In addition to recently being named Time ’s Person of the Year, and the re-recording of her decade-old 1989 being the best-selling album of the year, she has broken multiple world records.

In June, she was awarded the record for the most simultaneous albums on the US Billboard 200 for a living artist, with 10 of her albums charting at the same time.

She then broke several more records in July :

  • Most US No.1 albums by a female artist – 12
  • Most US singles chart entries (female) – 212
  • Most Top 10 debuts on the US Hot 100 (female) – 31
  • Most simultaneous new entries on the Hot 100 (female) – 26
  • Most cumulative weeks at No.1 on US albums charts (solo female) – 63

And in August, she made history with the most monthly listeners on Spotify (female) , becoming the first female artist to amass 100 million.

With plans to release more music and continue on her record-breaking tour, we’ve no doubt that Taylor Swift will achieve many more Guinness World Records titles in 2024!

How Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Conquered the World

The pop star’s record-breaking, career-spanning show has dominated the summer, commanding attention and whipping up demand at a level thought unachievable in a fragmented age.

Reporting from Kansas City, Mo., and New York

As Taylor Swift rolled into Los Angeles this week, the frenzy surrounding her record-breaking Eras Tour was already in high gear.

Headlines gushed that she had given $100,000 bonuses to her crew. Politicians asked her to postpone her concerts in solidarity with striking hotel workers. Scalped tickets were going for $3,000 and up. And there were way, way too many friendship bracelets to count.

These days, the center of an otherwise splintered music world can only be Taylor Swift.

The pop superstar’s tour, which is now finishing its initial North American leg with six nights at SoFi Stadium outside Los Angeles, has been both a business and a cultural juggernaut. Swift’s catalog of generation-defining hits and canny marketing sense have helped her achieve a level of white-hot demand and media saturation not seen since the 1980s heyday of Michael Jackson and Madonna — a dominance that the entertainment business had largely accepted as impossible to replicate in the fragmented 21st century.

“The only thing I can compare it to is the phenomenon of Beatlemania,” said Billy Joel, who attended Swift’s show in Tampa, Fla., with his wife and young daughters.

In a summer of tours by stars like Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Morgan Wallen and Drake, Swift’s stands apart, in numbers and in media noise. Although Swift, 33, and her promoters do not publicly report box-office figures, the trade publication Pollstar estimated that she has been selling about $14 million in tickets each night. By the end of the full world tour, which is booked with 146 stadium dates well into 2024, Swift’s sales could reach $1.4 billion or more — exceeding Elton John’s $939 million for his multiyear farewell tour, the current record-holder.

Swift has now had more No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 over the course of her career than any other woman, surpassing Barbra Streisand. With the tour lifting Swift’s entire body of work, she has placed 10 albums on that chart this year and is the first living artist since the trumpeter and bandleader Herb Alpert in 1966 to have four titles in the Top 10 at the same time.

“It’s a pretty amazing feat,” Alpert, 88, said in a phone interview. “With the way radio is these days, and the way music is distributed, with streaming, I didn’t think anyone in this era could do it.”

But how did a concert tour become so much more: fodder for gossip columns, the subject of weather reports , a boon for friendship-bracelet beads — the unofficial currency of Swiftie fandom — and the reason nobody could get a hotel room in Cincinnati at the end of June?

“She is the best C.E.O., and best chief marketing officer, in the history of music,” said Nathan Hubbard, a longtime music and ticketing executive who co-hosts a Swift podcast . “She is following people like Bono, Jay-Z and Madonna, who were acutely aware of their brands. But of all of them, Taylor is the first one to be natively online.”

Swifties have chronicled the stream of celebrity fans who have turned up each night: Julia Roberts, the New York Jets’ new quarterback Aaron Rodgers, even Flavor Flav of Public Enemy. But Swift has also made each show a news event by adding two “surprise songs,” often with headline-grabbing guests. On the July day that she put out a music video featuring Taylor Lautner, an ex-boyfriend, the actor backflipped across the stage in Kansas City, Mo., and paid Swift effusive tribute — “not just for the singer you are,” Lautner said, “but for the human you are.” The crowd registered its approval with an earsplitting roar.

The Taylorpalooza extends to every level of the news media, which began the coverage cycle by chronicling Swift’s ticketing fiasco last November, when fans — and scalpers’ bots — crushed Ticketmaster’s systems, leading to a heated Senate Judiciary hearing . Since then, seemingly no nugget of Swift news has escaped coverage, from the stars in the stands to oddities like a Seattle concert that, according to one researcher, shook the ground with an intensity equivalent to a 2.3-magnitude earthquake .

Music critics have portrayed the Eras Tour as showing Swift at the top of her game as a media-savvy, big-tent talent, a pop star with a knack for grand spectacle as well as the polished artistry of a classic songwriter.

Shania Twain, the country-pop star whose career in some ways prefigured Swift’s, caught the Las Vegas stop of the Eras Tour, a 44-plus song production that goes as long as three and a half hours. She praised Swift’s “beautiful balance” of high-tech stagecraft and intimate performance segments. “I have to applaud her,” Twain said in a telephone interview. “As a performer, I know that work that goes into it.”

The power of Swift’s fan army — and fear of crossing the star, or even appearing to — has kept nearly all of the press about the tour sunny. Though some fans (and parents) balked at the ticket prices and challenges of securing seats, most frustration was directed squarely at Ticketmaster, not Swift. After a few weeks of headlines romantically linking Swift with a frontman some fans considered to be problematic, reports spread in the celebrity pages that they had split. (Swift’s representatives declined to comment for this article.)

For fans, the shows are a pilgrimage, and a rediscovery of the joys of mass gatherings. Flights are packed with Swifties, and travelers trade stories and compare outfits — drawn from looks associated with Swift “eras” — in stadium corridors and parking lots. In Kansas City, the comedian Nikki Glaser was attending her eighth show, a commitment that she estimated has cost her $25,000.

“This year I decided not to freeze my eggs,” Glaser said. “I’m going to put that money toward the thing I love most in the world, which is Taylor Swift.”

Before Eras, Swift hadn’t been on tour since 2018. And her catalog has grown by seven No. 1 albums since then, fueled in part by three rerecorded “Taylor’s Versions” of her first LPs — a project hailed by Swift’s fans as a crusade to regain control of her music, though it is also an act of revenge after the sale of Swift’s former record label, a move that, she said , “stripped me of my life’s work.”

“Folklore” and “Evermore” expanded her palate into fantastical indie-folk and brought new collaborators into the fold: Aaron Dessner from the band the National and Justin Vernon, a.k.a. Bon Iver, rock-world figures who helped attract new listeners.

The other major tour this year that is enticing fans to book transcontinental flights, and to show up costumed and in rapture, is also by a woman: Beyoncé, 41, whose Renaissance tour is a fantasia of disco and retrofuturism. Like Swift, she is also a trailblazing artist-entrepreneur, maintaining tight control over her career and fostering a rich connection with fans online. Together with Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” a critique of the patriarchy told in hot pink, they are signs of powerful women ruling the discourse of pop culture.

But in music, at least, the scale and success of Swift’s tour is without equal. Later this month, after completing 53 shows in the United States, she will kick off an international itinerary of at least 78 more before returning to North America next fall. Beyoncé’s full tour has 56 dates; Springsteen’s, 90. (Recently, Harry Styles wrapped a 173-date tour in arenas and stadiums, grossing about $590 million.)

Outside Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, fans posed for selfies and shared their ticketing ordeals. Esmeralda Tinoco and Sami Cytron, 24-year-old former sorority sisters, said they had paid $645 for two seats. A stone’s throw away, Karlee Patrick and Emily DeGruson, both 18 and dressed as a pair in angel/devil costumes after a line in Swift’s “Cruel Summer,” sat “Taylorgating” at the edge of the parking lot; they said they had paid $100 for parking but couldn’t afford tickets.

As Swift’s opening acts finished, the crowd rushed in. Glaser, the comedian, later said that of the eight shows she had been to, her favorites were the ones where she had brought her mother — and converted her to Swiftie fandom.

“Everyone is in love with her,” Glaser said her mom told her after one show in Texas. “Now I get it.”

As Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Hits One Year, Let’s Take a Look at Its Staggering Numbers

O n March 17, it will officially have been one year since Taylor Swift's Eras Tour kicked off in Glendale, Ariz. In the 12 months since that fateful first show, Swift has broken untold records , made history as TIME's 2023 Person of the Year , cultivated a new legion of NFL fans , and announced her forthcoming 11th studio album— The Tortured Poets Department , out April 19—among a litany of other accomplishments.

By the end of 2023—less than halfway through its scheduled 152-show run—the Eras Tour had earned over $1 billion to become the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. During that period, every city where Swift played got a substantial economic boost from the so-called "Taylor Swift effect," a term that refers to the singer's unprecedented ability to influence consumer behavior. Following the inaugural U.S. leg of Eras, the U.S. Travel Association estimated that the tour's total economic impact likely exceeded $10 billion.

In the new year, Swift's staggering popularity seems to somehow still be on the rise. Less than a week after watching her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, win the Super Bowl, Swift played to the biggest concert crowd of her career while performing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia during the first run of 2024 Eras dates, following four shows in Tokyo.

In honor of the first anniversary of the start of the Eras Tour, we're taking a numerical look back at the biggest year of Swift's career to date.

Read More: 2023 Person of the Year: Taylor Swift

Number of Eras shows and cities

Swift will have played 83 shows across 30 cities as of March 17. Of those shows, 53 took place in the U.S. in 20 different cities stateside. The remaining 30 were part of the Latin America and Asia-Pacific legs of the tour. By the end of 2024, Swift is set to play a grand total of 152 Eras shows across 54 cities worldwide.

Number of surprise songs

In addition to her 40-plus-song set list, Swift has played at least two "surprise songs" per Eras show. Taking repeats into account, she has performed 145 different tracks (counting mashups of repeat songs as unique entries) as her 167 surprise offerings.

Number of special guests

From MUNA to Sabrina Carpenter to Haim, Swift's Eras stops have featured 10 different opening acts. She has also brought out eight other special guests, from Maren Morris to frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, to join her on stage at various shows.

Number of people in attendance at her biggest show to date

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Melbourne, Australia

Swift played three back-to-back shows at MCG on Feb. 16, 17, and 18 that were each attended by a record 96,000 people for a three-day total of 288,000 concertgoers. Ed Sheeran, who drew a crowd of around 109,500 each of the two nights he played at MCG in 2023, still holds the venue's single-night attendance record. But that's largely due to the fact that Swift's stage setup took up more room in the arena, cutting down on the number of available seats.

Number of Eras tickets sold

Swift sold an estimated 4.35 million tickets across 60 tour dates within concert trade publication Pollstar's chart year of Nov. 17, 2022 to Nov. 15, 2023. That's an average of 72,500 tickets per show, with each ticket costing an average of $238.95. Using those numbers to extrapolate across shows played since then, Swift has likely now sold around 6.02 million tickets.

Total Eras Tour gross

Based on the approximately $17.32 million in ticket revenue Pollstar estimates Swift earned for each of the first 60 Eras dates, her total tour gross currently sits somewhere around $1.44 billion. By the end of 2024, the tour is expected to have brought in an astronomical $2.165 billion. For comparison, the second-highest grossing tour of all time, Elton John’s multi-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, sold six million tickets over the course of 328 shows to earn $939 million.

Total Eras merch revenue

Taylor Swift Fans Descend On Melbourne Cricket Ground

According to reports from different venues, Pollstar estimates Eras attendees were spending an average of $40 per person on merch at the first 60 Eras shows. That puts Swift's tour merch revenue at an estimated $240.8 million—not including non-concert day purchases—following her first run of 2024 Eras dates.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour box-office earnings

Since its Oct. 13 release in theaters, Swift's record-breaking three-and-a-half-hour concert film has grossed $180,756,269 in North America and $261,656,269 globally at the box office. An extended edition of the movie became available to rent via video on demand services on Swift's birthday, Dec. 13, followed by the longest and most complete version of the film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) , arriving on streaming on Disney+ March 14.

Number of new songs

Since the Eras Tour began, Swift has released two re-recorded albums, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and 1989 (Taylor's Version) , and one new single, "You're Losing Me (From the Vault)," for a total of 45 new songs (including re-recorded songs and vault tracks). In their first week of sales, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) , which featured one Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit, and 1989 (Taylor's Version) , which featured seven Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits, sold 716,000 equivalent album units and 1.653 million equivalent album units, respectively. "You're Losing Me (From the Vault)" tallied 8.7 million official streams and sold 19,000 downloads in the U.S. in the first two days after its Nov. 29 debut, according to Luminate .

How Many Golfers Are On The PGA Tour?

Regular watchers of PGA golf tournaments will know that there seems to be a large number of players who rotate in and out of tournaments.

Some of the more successful players only partake in a few high-profile tournaments, allowing for more professionals to participate on the PGA Tour.

Earning your way onto the PGA Tour is extremely taxing and competitive. Out of an approximate 80 million golfers globally, only the elite 175 plus exemptions qualify for the PGA Tour.

This begs the question of how many golfers are on the PGA Tour.

If you finish the article and are curious what’s in Tiger Woods’ bag , then read the full article next.

Requirements for a Tour Card

Benefits of a tour card, pga tour history, do professional players pay fees to play on the pga tour, final thoughts, related articles.

To start with we need to look at what is required to qualify for a PGA card.

You can earn a PGA Tour card through a few channels as put out below.

  • Win three Korn Ferry Tour tournaments in a season.
  • Winning a PGA Tour event provides a tour card for a minimum of two years. Each additional win adds another year to the card up to a maximum of five years.
  • Ranking in the top 125 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings at the end of the season wins you a PGA Tour Card
  • Finishing in the top 50 players of the Korn Ferry Tour playoffs entitles you to a PGA Tour Card
  • Up to 2013, you could qualify for a PGA Tour Card through the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament but this was changed and you can now only qualify for the Korn Ferry tour through the qualifying tournament.

Now that you have qualified for the PGA Tour card, what benefits will you receive?

Your PGA Tour Card will enable you to enter into PGA Tour events. It does not automatically provide entry as the field is limited depending on the tournament.

Your ranking determines which PGA Tour you qualify for. Most PGA Tour events have a qualifying tournament preceding the official start of the tournament thus enabling fringe players to earn their way into more tournaments.

In addition to the abovementioned conditions, sponsors can select players that they want to add to the tournament offering them sponsor’s exemption.

Furthermore, this opens up your path to sign up with sponsors for endorsements and advertising contracts.

Entering into PGA Tour events puts you in line to win life-changing purses and accumulate enough points to retain your card.

Top-ranked golfers that qualify directly for a tournament only pay for their locker room fees of approximately $50 locker per tournament.

Entry fees for qualifying events are around $400 per tournament.

Determining the exact number of golfers exempt from playing in PGA Tour events is difficult to pin down.

We know that the top 125 golfers in the previous season’s FedEx Cup standings, the top 50 in the Korn Ferry Tour playoffs, winners in previous seasons, and sponsor invitees qualify to play in tournaments sanctioned by the PGA.

Gofers ending in positions 126 to 200 in the FedEx Cup standings qualify to play on the Korn Ferry Tour and earn their way back into the main PGA Tour.

Taylor Swift Adds 17 More Stadium Shows to ‘Eras Tour,’ Which Will Include a Five-Night Stand in L.A., Making It Her Biggest U.S. Tour to Date

u.s. american stadium tour 2023

Taylor Swift announced Friday morning that she has added 17 additional dates to her ‘ Eras Tour ‘ of U.S. stadiums, bringing the total number of gigs to 52. That amended number makes it her biggest tour to date, and one that could easily break her own record for a gross in North America.

Below is an amended graphic that shows all the dates for the tour with the added appearances marked in blue. All of the newly announced gigs are in cities that were previously part of the tour, but with second or third nights added — and in one case, a fifth night. The tour’s concluding stop at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium is now a five -night stand.

Popular on Variety

Swift made Friday morning’s announcement relatively quietly, by putting the amended graphic up on her Instagram Stories, although obviously it won’t stay quiet for long.

The opening night of the tour has now shifted, with the addition of a second date in Glendale, Arizona on March 17, 2023, just before the previously announced March 18 opener.

What’s remarkable is how Swift has accumulated a record number of dates for a stadium tour without expanding the original numbers of cities in the routing, and keeping the appearances more or less to one weekend at a time. The exception is her climactic stand in L.A. Aug. 3-9, where she takes a two-day break after the initial three nights before coming back for the final two shows at SoFi.

Among the many opening acts Swift is employing, Gracie Abrams is the opener on 11 of the just-added dates, pushing Abrams’ tally of shows with Swift to 30.

Swift still has not announced any overseas dates for 2023. Setting a record gross for international touring may be tougher, as Ed Sheeran holds that record with a 255-show tour that stretched across three years.

By doing five shows at SoFi Stadium, Swift will likely have the best numbers in the U.S. in a single venue in more than a decade, and possibly all-time record. Late last year, BTS headlined three shows at SoFi Stadium and grossed $33.3 million with 214,000 tickets sold, which was described at the time as the biggest gross in a stadium since 2012. With two more shows that that in the same L.A. venue, Swift is likely to easily surpass that mark. The all-time record holder for a single U.S. venue is Bruce Springsteen’s 10-night stand at Giants Stadium back in 2003 — but that was at a time when ticket prices were much lower, and the 10 nights brought in $38.7 million. Swift stands poised to possibly break that U.S. single-engagement record, too, even with fewer shows.

Presales for all of the concerts begin Nov. 15.

How Many Tours Does The PGA Tour Run?

Four different logos and flags from tours run by the PGA Tour in a montage

The PGA Tour is one of the most famous sports leagues in the world and the dominant tour in men's professional golf, but did you know that it also runs a number of other tours?

The main PGA Tour is home to the majority of the elite players playing men's professional golf as they aim to win the biggest prize funds and claim the biggest honors in the game, however, its other tours support up-and-coming players, golfers from Canada, Latin America, over 50s and basically anyone who is looking to make it to the big leagues.

Here's a look at the other tours the main PGA Tour operates...

Korn Ferry Tour

This is a US developmental tour in which golfers try and work their way to the PGA Tour. The top 30 players on the season-long standings at the conclusion of the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Championship will earn a PGA Tour membership for the 2024 season. Events aren’t just exclusive to the United States, with tournaments held in Brazil, Mexico, and Canada amongst other countries.

The Korn Ferry Tour has had a few different names, starting out as the Ben Hogan Tour in 1990, changing names (and sponsors) to the Nike Tour, Buy.com Tour, Nationwide Tour and Web.com Tour.

A number of Major winners have come through the Korn Ferry Tour as money list winners, including Tom Lehman, Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson, Jimmy Walker and, most recently, Scottie Scheffler .

Player Rankings and Categories

The world of professional golf is filled with talented players who compete at the highest level. To determine the standing of these players, various ranking systems and categories are in place. In this section, we will explore two key aspects of player evaluation: the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and the FedExCup Points System.

product image

Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR)

The Official World Golf Ranking, commonly known as the OWGR, is a system that ranks professional golfers based on their performance in tournaments worldwide. It provides a comprehensive and objective measure of a player’s standing in the global golfing community.

The OWGR takes into account the results of players in selected events over a rolling two-year period. The ranking points awarded to each player are based on the strength of the field, the player’s finishing position, and the level of competition. The system rewards consistent performance, placing greater emphasis on recent results.

This ranking system is used to determine eligibility and seeding for prestigious tournaments, such as major championships and international team events like the Ryder Cup. It also serves as a benchmark for players aspiring to earn their place among the world’s best.

The OWGR is updated weekly, reflecting the ever-evolving landscape of professional golf. It offers fans and players alike a snapshot of the current hierarchy, allowing for exciting debates and discussions. Furthermore, it provides a sense of direction for players aiming to climb the ranks and make their mark on the sport.

FedExCup Points System

In addition to the OWGR, the PGA Tour employs the FedExCup Points System to determine player rankings and qualifications for the season-ending FedExCup Playoffs. This system introduces a unique element of competition and adds an extra layer of excitement to the tour.

Throughout the PGA Tour season, players earn FedExCup points based on their performance in each tournament. The amount of points awarded depends on a variety of factors, including the strength of the field and the player’s finishing position. The higher a player finishes in a tournament, the more points they earn.

The accumulation of FedExCup points throughout the season determines a player’s position in the standings. The top 125 players at the end of the regular season qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs, a series of tournaments that culminate in the crowning of the FedExCup champion.

The FedExCup Points System adds a level of volatility and unpredictability to the PGA Tour. It rewards players who consistently perform well throughout the season while allowing for dramatic shifts in the standings as each tournament unfolds. This format ensures that every shot counts and keeps fans engaged from start to finish.

In summary, the Official World Golf Ranking and the FedExCup Points System are integral components of the professional golfing landscape. They provide a framework for evaluating player performance, determining eligibility for prestigious events, and adding excitement to the tour. Whether it’s the global perspective offered by the OWGR or the season-long battle for FedExCup points, these systems contribute to the captivating nature of the sport.

Player Turnover and Membership

The PGA Tour is constantly evolving, with players joining and leaving the tour each year. This section will explore the process of new players joining the tour, players retiring or leaving, and the different membership categories and status within the PGA Tour.

New Players Joining the Tour

Every year, a new batch of talented golfers aspires to make their mark on the PGA Tour. The process of joining the tour is not an easy one, as it requires players to meet certain criteria and go through a rigorous qualification process.

To be eligible to join the PGA Tour, players must meet the tour’s eligibility criteria. These criteria include age requirements, amateur status, and golf skill level. Players must also have a certain level of playing experience and a proven track record of success in professional or amateur golf tournaments.

One pathway for new players to join the PGA Tour is through the Qualifying School (Q-School) and the Web.com Tour. Q-School is a series of tournaments where players compete for a limited number of spots on the Web.com Tour, which serves as a stepping stone to the PGA Tour. Players who perform well on the Web.com Tour have the opportunity to earn their PGA Tour card and become full members of the tour.

Another way for new players to gain entry to the PGA Tour is through sponsor exemptions. Sponsors have the ability to invite players to compete in certain tournaments, regardless of their official ranking or tour status. Sponsor exemptions are often given to up-and-coming players or those who have shown potential but may not have met all the eligibility criteria.

Players Leaving or Retiring

Just as new players join the PGA Tour, there are also players who decide to retire or leave the tour for various reasons. Retirement from professional golf can be a personal decision made by players who feel they have achieved their goals or want to pursue other interests outside of the sport.

In some cases, players may leave the tour due to injury or loss of form. Golf is a demanding sport that requires physical fitness and consistent performance. If a player is unable to maintain a certain level of play or is hindered by injuries, they may choose to step away from the tour.

Membership Categories and Status

The PGA Tour has different membership categories and statuses that determine a player’s standing within the tour. These categories and statuses are based on a player’s performance and accomplishments on the tour.

The highest membership status on the PGA Tour is full membership, which is granted to players who have earned their PGA Tour card through the qualification process. Full members have the ability to compete in all PGA Tour events and have the opportunity to earn Official World Golf Ranking points and FedExCup points.

There are also different categories of membership within the PGA Tour. These categories include past champions, major champions, and players who have secured their tour card through the Web.com Tour or other qualifying events. Each category comes with its own privileges and opportunities to compete in specific tournaments.

In addition to full membership and different categories, the PGA Tour also has conditional status. Players with conditional status have limited playing opportunities and must rely on sponsor exemptions or their performance in limited events to secure more playing opportunities.

Overall, the PGA Tour experiences a constant turnover of players, with new talent joining the tour each year and established players deciding to retire or leave. The process of new players joining the tour involves meeting eligibility criteria, going through the Qualifying School or earning sponsor exemptions. Membership categories and status determine a player’s standing within the tour and the opportunities they have to compete in various tournaments.

Impact of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the PGA Tour, causing disruptions to the schedule and leading to changes in player participation. Let’s take a closer look at the schedule changes and cancellations, as well as the effects on player participation.

Schedule Changes and Cancellations

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about unprecedented challenges to the PGA Tour, resulting in numerous schedule changes and cancellations. In an effort to prioritize the health and safety of players, officials, and spectators, the PGA Tour made the difficult decision to suspend tournaments temporarily.

Initially, the tour announced a suspension of events for several weeks, hoping to resume play as soon as it was safe to do so. However, as the severity of the pandemic became increasingly apparent, the suspension was extended, and several tournaments were subsequently canceled.

The Masters, one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments, was postponed from its usual April date and rescheduled for November. Major championships like the U.S. Open and the Open Championship were also affected, with the former being postponed and the latter being canceled altogether.

Additionally, regular PGA Tour events were either postponed or canceled, causing a significant reshuffling of the tour calendar. The FedExCup Playoffs, which typically serve as the culmination of the season, were also altered, with the number of events reduced and the schedule condensed.

Effects on Player Participation

The schedule changes and cancellations resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact on player participation. With tournaments being postponed or canceled, players faced uncertainty regarding their competitive opportunities and the ability to earn FedExCup points.

The disruptions to the schedule meant that players had to adapt and adjust their training and preparation routines. Many players were unable to compete for an extended period, leading to concerns about maintaining their form and rhythm when play eventually resumed.

Furthermore, travel restrictions and health protocols introduced by various countries and regions made it challenging for international players to participate in tournaments. The need to quarantine upon arrival in certain locations and the risks associated with traveling during a pandemic created additional hurdles for players.

The limited number of tournaments and condensed schedule also meant that players had to carefully select the events they would play in. This required strategic planning to ensure they were maximizing their opportunities to earn FedExCup points and secure their positions in the rankings.

The pandemic also affected player morale and mental well-being. The uncertainties surrounding the virus and its impact on the tour created a sense of anxiety and stress among players. The absence of spectators further added to the unique and somewhat eerie atmosphere of the events.

Despite these challenges, the PGA Tour implemented strict health and safety protocols to mitigate the risks associated with the pandemic. Regular testing, social distancing measures, and the absence of spectators were among the measures put in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

College golf and amateur competitions.

College golf and amateur competitions play a crucial role in the development of young golfers, providing them with opportunities to showcase their skills and compete at a high level. These platforms serve as important stepping stones for aspiring players on their journey to the professional ranks.

One of the main avenues for player development in golf is through college golf programs. Many talented young golfers choose to pursue their education while honing their skills on the golf course. College golf offers a unique blend of competitive play and academic pursuits, allowing players to grow both as athletes and as individuals.

In the United States, college golf is governed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and is divided into different divisions based on the size and resources of the schools. Division I programs are generally considered the most competitive, with top-tier golfers from around the country vying for scholarships and opportunities to represent their respective universities.

Golf scholarships are highly sought after, and college coaches actively recruit promising young players . These scholarships not only provide financial assistance but also offer a platform for players to compete against top-level competition. College golf tournaments are held regularly throughout the season, allowing players to gain valuable experience and exposure.

Amateur competitions also play a significant role in player development. These tournaments are open to non-professional golfers and provide a pathway for talented individuals to showcase their skills. Amateur golfers often compete in local, regional, and national events, with the ultimate goal of earning recognition and potentially turning professional.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) organizes several prestigious amateur events, including the U.S. Amateur Championship and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. These tournaments attract the best amateur golfers from around the world and serve as a platform for players to test their skills against elite competition.

Amateur golfers also have the opportunity to represent their countries in international competitions such as the Walker Cup and the World Amateur Team Championship. These events not only provide players with international exposure but also give them a chance to compete alongside and against some of the best amateur golfers in the world.

In addition to college golf and amateur competitions, another pathway for aspiring professional golfers is the Korn Ferry Tour. Many successful PGA Tour players, including major champions, have come through the Korn Ferry Tour, highlighting its importance in player development.

The number of guests on tour with you can vary depending on where your tour is going: Europe trips: An average of 40 to 45 guests United States and Canada trips: A maximum of 52 guests Australia and New Zealand trips: A maximum of 50 guests Asia trips: A maximum of 28 guests Africa trips: A maximum of 20 guests Latin America trips: A maximum of 40 to 45 guests The beauty of taking a guided tour is that you'll get to know people from all over the globe as part of your group.

Where do I find which meals are included?

This information is included in the day-by-day itinerary for your trip.

What if I have any special dietary requirements?

We can accommodate vegetarian guests and can assist with diabetic, gluten-free and other medically-recommended diets. Please advise us at the time of booking. Unfortunately, we’re unable to supply meals in accordance with strict religious requirements. We can’t provide salt-free, Kosher, Halal, requests for specific dietary supplements such as soya milk, and high protein or low-carb meals. You can inform us of any dietary requirements by logging into MyTrafalgar and selecting 'view trip details' for your trip. On the right-hand side, you will then have the option to 'personalize your trip'.

Will I have free time?

Yes. We want to ensure you get all you want out of your trip. Each itinerary offers the perfect balance of downtime and discoveries. We also give you the opportunity to tailor your trip with Optional Experiences. Some of our trips offer a more relaxed pace, with later starts and longer stays in each place. If you would like to exclude yourself from an included experience please ensure you speak with your Travel Director, so they are aware of your plans. They will make sure you are aware of any necessary times or meeting points. Please note we cannot provide any compensation or refunds, if you decide to not take part in an included activity or meal.

How much walking is involved in your trips?

Our itineraries are a well-balanced mix of walking and enjoying sites from the comfort of your coach. The activity level and amount of walking can vary, so it is important that you bring adequate footwear to ensure your comfort and safety. When walking there can be some uneven terrain, or times when more walking is required than others.

Coach travel

How long will we spend on the coach.

How much coach travel there is depends on the itinerary but we rarely spend longer than a couple of hours  on the coach without a photo stop or visit. Some journeys are much shorter.

In addition to your suitcase, which gets stored separately on the coach, you can bring one piece of carry-on luggage onto the coach with you. This must be small enough to either fit under your seat or in a small overhead compartment. The specific dimensions vary by where your trip is: Europe trips:  12"x11"x6" (30x28x14 cm) North & South America, Australia & New Zealand trips:  One small piece of hand luggage that does not have telescopic handles Africa trips:  Please note that East Africa safari vehicles cannot accommodate regular luggage dimensions and weights. We kindly ask our guests to travel with a soft-sided bag or medium-sized suitcase. Please note that for safety reasons, small rolling suitcases are not permitted inside the coach. There are a number of things you may wish to bring on the coach with you, including a travel pillow, something to read, sunglasses, your phone, headphones if you'd like to listen to music, etc.

Do coaches operate seat rotation?

To ensure fairness and to enhance your coach experience Trafalgar practices a daily seat rotation system, which your Travel Director will facilitate. This enables guests to enjoy the panoramic views from a different seat and provides opportunities to get to know your fellow travelers and make new friends each day.

What can I expect from a Trafalgar hotel?

Trafalgar hotels are handpicked to ensure they meet our high standards. Many trips also include our Stays with Stories; properties with character that speak to the heritage of a destination.

What is the check-in procedure at my hotel?

Checking in to your arrival hotel Official check-in times vary from hotel to hotel. Should your flight arrive in the early morning into the city where your trip begins, you may find yourself arriving at the hotel before noon, and it could be early afternoon before your room is ready (2pm/3pm). Hotels try to prevent this from happening, but check-in times cannot be guaranteed. The hotel will be able to suggest how any spare time could be used to sightsee, relax or enjoy local restaurants while your room is being prepared. When arriving at your first hotel, check in at the main reception desk. The reception staff will need to know your name and that you are traveling with Trafalgar. When your trip begins, check-in will be managed by the Travel Director, who will advise you on procedures and hotel features before arrival. They will secure keys and oversee the delivery of your luggage to your room. Photocopies of documents Some hotels are required to keep your passport at reception throughout your stay owing to government, country or local laws. You are therefore recommended to bring a photocopy of your passport and any visas with you when you travel. A useful tip is to photocopy your airline tickets, credit cards and your driver’s license etc. as this can speed up replacements on those rare occasions that the originals are lost. Even easier is to scan your documents and send them to yourself as attachments to your email so that you have access to them if needed. Keys Many hotels use magnetic key cards. These may be required to use the elevator. In many hotels, key cards also operate the lighting and air-conditioning. The card is usually inserted into a slot or box located just inside the room in order for the electricity to function and it is a great way to save energy. Checking out of your hotel Always make a last-minute check of safe deposit boxes, drawers, wardrobe and bathroom before departing each hotel. If you've consumed any items from the mini bar or accessed pay-TV, etc., then you are responsible for paying incidental expenses before departure. We recommend settling any bills in the evening to ensure a smooth departure the following morning.

Are the hotels air conditioned?

We select our hotels for their quality, impeccable service and comfort, and the majority of them have air-conditioning. A few hotels in the northern Alps of Europe do not have air conditioning due to the colder climate.

Will I be able to get laundry done?

Most hotels offer a laundry service; in some cities, laundromats are also available. However, it’s sensible to try and pack enough clothing to avoid having to do laundry, as it can sometimes be costly or inconvenient.

Will my hotel have WiFi?

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in most hotel guestrooms and/or communal areas. On some occasions, the Wi-Fi may need an access code from hotel staff. Your Travel Director will provide you with details when checking in to each hotel.

Do the hotels listed on the itinerary ever change?

Yes, hotels can change from those listed on the website or in your travel documents. This might be due to a variety of reasons and is often out of Trafalgar's control. If this does happen, we will ensure the new hotel is in a similar location and meets our high standards.

Food and drink

What do I need to know about meals and beverages on my trip?

Food and drink is at the heart of every destination. Your trip itinerary contains information on included meals and your Travel Director will provide recommendations for places to eat in each new place. Specific Dietary Requirements We encourage guests to advise us of any specific dietary requirements during registration on the MyTrafalgar portal. Please also advise your Travel Director of your needs. Hotels and restaurants will be told in advance and suppliers will do their utmost to provide alternative options, although this cannot be guaranteed. Drinking Water We care about the planet. With that in mind, we recommend you pack a reusable water bottle for your trip to reduce your plastic waste. The majority of countries in Europe have safe drinking water. In Eastern Europe, you may find alternative water options are recommended in some areas. Your Travel Director will advise when the use of bottled water is recommended. There will be multiple rest stops throughout the day where you can refill your bottle with water or purchase a drink. We recommend the app Tap - Find Water Anywhere on your phone, which shows you the nearest refill station. Find out more about how we MAKE TRAVEL MATTER®

What time should I arrive on Day 1 on my trip?

All the information you need to join your trip, such as your first hotel and what time to get there, will be provided in your trip documents. You can access this by logging into the MyTrafalgar portal. These will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to your departure.

What if I arrive late and miss part of the trip?

We regret that no refunds can be made for absences from a trip, including experiences such as missed meals or sightseeing.

What different kinds of experiences are available on my trip?

Trafalgar trips feature a range of experiences to get you closer to the heart of your destinations. Iconic experiences are the must-see experiences included in your trip itinerary. From touring the ruined city of Pompeii in Italy, to wine tasting in Stellenbosch, South Africa, the icons are unmissable travel moments. Trafalgar gets you closer to the authentic heart of a place by connecting you with local people. Our Be My Guest experiences do just that by inviting you to dine with locals. Feast on a home-cooked lunch at a stud farm in Portugal, or visit a local market with a chef in Lima, Peru. We're on a mission to MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® . Our MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences are included in your itinerary. They benefit the environment and local communities as well as providing guests with a memorable and unique experience. As well as our included experiences, you can also add Optional Experiences to tailor your trip to your interests. These experiences are available for an additional cost and can be booked and paid for during your trip.

Trip experience

Who will support me on my trip?

All our guests will have access to the personal service of a dedicated and knowledgeable Travel Director. They will be on hand to help guide & support you throughout your trip and are able to offer a true insider’s perspective of each destination.

What is a Travel Director?

Our Travel Directors come from a variety of backgrounds but they all share a passion for travel and their home countries. These experienced professionals show you what the guidebooks can’t – a true insider’s perspective of each destination. Each Travel Director has been through a bespoke training program and many have at least five years’ experience under their belt.

Can I pre-pay gratuities?

On most trips, you have the option to pre-pay gratuities for your Travel Director and Driver at the time of booking. Alternatively, if you would like to show your appreciation to the team, gratuities may also be paid during your trip. There is no option to pre-pay gratuities on our Asia and Africa trips. If you would like to thank your Trafalgar destination expert, this can be done on tour.

What else do I need to know about tipping and gratuities?

Tipping etiquette varies by country, culture and the situation and it is a gesture that shows appreciation for the quality of service that you received. When traveling with Trafalgar we have pre-paid certain tips and gratuities for you. Baggage handling at hotels, service charges and tips for hotel wait staff (for included meals) will be taken care of by your Travel Director. There are however a few instances where individual tipping is welcome. In general, if you’re unsure on tipping, don’t go any higher than 10% (unless of course that the service was so fantastic you feel you want to do so). Servers may not receive tips when left on a credit card, so always try to tip in cash whenever possible. Hotel Services It is customary to tip hotel staff for room service delivery if the charge has not already been added to the bill. Where ice machines are not available and you receive ice from the bar, a small tip to the bartender is always appreciated. Local Specialists It is customary to show appreciation for the insights, stories and know-how shared with you by the Local Specialists. Eating and Drinking Tips and gratuities will be taken care of by your Travel Director for all meals included in your itinerary. When you are exploring on your own, it's helpful to know regional norms around tipping. In  North America , it is customary to tip for a variety of services. A restaurant is usually tipped 15-20% of the total bill before tax. Other services, from taxi drivers to hairdressers, normally receive 10%. Your Travel Director can also answer any questions you may have regarding when and how much to tip. In  Europe , there is no obligation to leave a tip, but between 5% and 10% is normal in most European restaurants. Make sure to check that a service charge hasn’t already been added on as this is becoming more common. Also, bear in mind that tipping is only necessary at a table service restaurant. When eating out at a pub or fast food outlet where you order your food from a counter, tipping isn’t necessary or expected.

What do I need to know about daily sightseeing, departure times and the words or phrases I will hear while traveling with Trafalgar?

At Trafalgar, we plan to show you a great deal and always endeavor to make the most of every day of your holiday. In order to make that possible, we thank you in advance for your punctuality, which affords all our guests the opportunity to enjoy their time with us to the fullest. Departure time is the time when everyone is seated comfortably and the coach is pulling away from the hotel or rest stop. The savvy traveler will always allow themselves enough time for bathroom visits, settling bills and slow elevators. Your Travel Director will choreograph the day to enhance the itinerary and go out of their way to ensure that those all-important timings are clearly explained. They will also provide you with a contact number should you be in need of assistance. Sightseeing is included in your itinerary and will generally involve a fair amount of walking and standing (as well as sitting). There are a number of terms used to describe sightseeing activities in the itinerary and there are slight differences in their meaning: A day to relax – No planned activities; time for Optional Experiences or other independent activities. Your Travel Director will be able to assist you with providing ideas and suggestions to match your interests and get the most out of the day. Orientation tour – Places of interest are pointed out, allowing you to go and explore them on your own. See – Observe sights while passing by on your coach, cruise or train. Sightseeing trip - A Local Specialist will accompany you on a trip of a city or site. Time to relax and discover – Free time on your own. View – A brief stop to enjoy the sights and take some photos. Visit – A stop with time to enjoy a specific site. “ Why not see ” or “ perhaps enjoy ” – These phrases refer to Optional Experiences not included in the trip package but which are available for an additional fee. Your Travel Director will be happy to provide you with information regarding these, or other ways in which to spend your free time.

What happens on day 1 of my trip?

All the information you need to join your tour will be provided in your trip documents, which you can find on the MyTrafalgar portal. These will be available approximately 3 weeks prior to your departure. Your Travel Director will also be in touch a few days before your trip to introduce themselves and re-confirm your meeting point.

Is porterage included in a Trafalgar trip?

Yes, for your ease and comfort porterage is included throughout your trip (one item per guest). So you will only have to bring your hand luggage on and off the coach each day. On arrival at each hotel, your case will be delivered to your room by a hotel porter. Your Travel Director will provide you with a red luggage tag, which helps with identification and security. We recommend keeping any items you wish to access immediately in your hand baggage.

How can I stay connected on my trip?

Sharing your experiences with friends and family back home is an important part of your trip. If you choose to bring a smart phone with you, ensure you contact your service provider to find out how much it will cost to use your phone internationally. You might consider disabling data roaming or purchasing a prepaid service or SIM to keep control of costs. Be mindful of other guests if you take a cell phone call on the coach. Making telephone calls from your hotel room can be very expensive. A pre-paid calling card is an easy way to save money when making telephone calls. Calling cards are readily available for purchase in most stores - please ask your Travel Director for further information. Complimentary WiFi is usually available on our coaches and your hotel will also provide complimentary WiFi access.

Optional Experiences

What are Optional Experiences?

Trafalgar itineraries include plenty of free time for you to explore destinations in your own way. Optional Experiences are a great way to make the most of your time and tailor your trip to your interests. Available Optional Experiences are listed on the trip itinerary. No need to book or prepay, you can do this with your Travel Director on trip and payment can be made by credit card or cash.

Can I prebook Optional Experiences?

To enable you to personalize your Trafalgar experience, you will find a number of Optional Experiences designed to complement the itinerary. These are designed to offer a deeper insight into the culture and character of the areas to be visited and provide some wonderful highlights to your travels. The optional program is designed to let you experience more of what interests you and to get the most from your holiday without replacing or overlapping with anything included in an itinerary. The majority of Optional Experiences will be offered to you by your Travel Director at the beginning of your trip. Our optional experiences cannot be pre-booked. Some may be subject to change, depending on the time you are traveling or local circumstances including weather and days of the week. Further information will be provided by your Travel Director. If you would like to see what is available, along with pricing for our optionals please look at the day-to-day itinerary of your trip on our website.

Our itineraries are a well-balanced mix of walking and enjoying sites from the comfort of your coach. The activity level and amount of walking can vary, so it is important that you bring adequate footwear to ensure your comfort and safety. When walking there can be some uneven terrain or times when more walking is required than others.

Can I get a motorized scooter delivered on trip and then transport it on the coach for daily use?

For all specific requirements, including requests such as this, we will ask you to provide us with certain details at the time of booking. Please note that not all itineraries can accommodate a motorized scooter. We also have limited space within the coach to transport items. We will carefully evaluate if this is possible for your trip. If you've already booked your trip, you can let us know about special requirements by logging into MyTrafalgar . Once logged in, you can select to 'personalize your trip'.

Wellbeing and safety

What if i become ill on my trip and am unable to continue.

Your Travel Director will assist you with a doctor’s visit or hospitalisation should you require. Trafalgar has a dedicated Guest Support Department in Europe, or our Operations Department in the relevant country will contact you to offer assistance and advice, coordinate with your travel insurance company and keep in touch until you are able to re-join the trip or return home. This service is included in the cost of your trip; however it is not a replacement for travel insurance, which is required to travel with Trafalgar.

How can I stay safe on my trip?

Relaxing and switching off from everyday concerns is all part of the holiday experience. Your Travel Director will ensure that things run seamlessly on your trip, however it is a good idea to be aware of issues that might affect your enjoyment and to take precautions to avoid undesirable situations. Personal Belongings Many of us carry expensive equipment such as mobile phones and cameras to capture our travel memories and keep in touch with loved ones. Be wary of showing them off in crowded places and never leave them on the table in restaurants, bars, hotel lobbies and public places (breakfast rooms). Bags Keep your bag with you at all times. Wear it across your chest and ensure the bag is on the front of the body when you walk through crowded places. Passport and Documents Make sure your passport is always safe. Keep it on your person on travel days. A money belt worn under your clothing is the safest place to carry your passport, as well as other important documents, a spare credit or debit card, larger cash amounts and any emergency contact lists for any credit/ bank cards that you use.. Many hotels provide safety deposit boxes for your use on longer stays, but be sure to reclaim them before checking out. Make a photocopy of your passport and important documents and keep them separately from the originals. Cash Only carry as much cash as you need at any time and avoid displaying large numbers of notes when paying for anything. Hotels When leaving your room, securely shut all windows and close the door to your room as you exit, with enough force to ensure it properly locks. Remember to keep your room key safely on you. On arrival at a new hotel, familiarize yourself with escape routes and locate the nearest fire exit to your room. Always know how to raise the alarm. Situational Awareness Avoid confrontational situations and large gatherings and if at any time a situation doesn’t feel right, walk away. Hostile Situations In the very unlikely situation you find yourself in the vicinity of a hostile incident, leave immediately and contact the police. If you are unable to leave, find somewhere to hide, lock the door and keep as quiet as possible. Remember to turn your phone to silent and contact the police.

Can I drink the tap water in the countries I visit?

We care about the planet. Find out more about how we MAKE TRAVEL MATTER®.

24 Famous Golfers Who Were Photographed in the Nude

It's me, hi! Nashville is home to the most Taylor Swift fans in the country

tour number of

Swifties have a lot to celebrate these days — the release of Taylor Swift's highly anticipated eleventh studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department ," upcoming tour dates in Europe and enjoying the Eras Tour from the comfort of their homes thanks to streaming .

Swifties in Nashville however may have earned yet another reason to bedazzle the hats and swap the friendship bracelets. Music City ranks high when it comes to the amount of Taylor Swift fans per capita.

You're not completely on your own, kid.

According to Casino.Org , an online source for casino guidance, Nashville is the eighth city in the United States with the most Taylor Swift fans per capita. The number of fans were determined by examining attendance at each Eras Tour city, also taking into consideration TikTok videos, Google search volumes, Taylor Swift-themed events and the number of Facebook Taylor Swift group members.

Nashville came behind Minneapolis, Minnesota, Los Angeles, California and Arlington, Texas. Rounding out the top ten was Cincinnati.

Back in May of 2023, Swift performed a three-night run to record setting crowds at Nissan Stadium including a rain-soaked show that delayed the start time past 10 p.m. Fans sheltered-in-place for nearly four hours due to severe weather, a true testament of fandom loyalty. During her stop in Nashville, Swift announced the release of "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)."

The Eras Tour in Nashville brought in an estimated $2.2 million in hotel taxes alone.

Top 10 cities with the most Taylor Swift fans per capita

  • Santa Clara, Calif. (100/100)
  • Tampa, Florida (98.7/100)
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (66.5)
  • Kansas City, Missouri (65)
  • Arlington, Texas (63.5)
  • Los Angeles, Calif. (63.4/100)
  • Minneapolis, Minn. (58.1)
  • Nashville (57/100)
  • Glendale, Arizona (50.8/100)
  • Cincinnati, Ohio (32.3/100)

Methodology

In April, Casino.org examined the cities included in the 2023 Eras tour then create an index analyzing and weighing multiple factor including:

  • Eras Tour attendance (30%)
  • Number of Eras Tour shows within each city (15%)
  • Google search volumes (10%)
  • Number of TikTok posts (20%)
  • Number of Facebook group members in dedicated Taylor Swift groups (20%)
  • Number of Taylor Swift themed events (5%)

Each city was then scored on a scale of 0-100 to discover which cities have the most Swifties per capita. 2024 US Eras Tour dates were not included.

Break my soul, break these records: Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour by the numbers

Meanwhile, it's been 15 months since Renaissance dropped and we're still listening to it. No skips.

Lester Fabian Brathwaite is a staff writer at Entertainment Weekly , where he covers breaking news, all things Real Housewives , and a rich cornucopia of popular culture. Formerly a senior editor at Out magazine, his work has appeared on NewNowNext , Queerty , Rolling Stone , and The New Yorker . He was also the first author signed to Phoebe Robinson's Tiny Reparations imprint. He met Oprah once.

tour number of

The Renaissance World Tour has come to a close, leaving a trail of snatched wigs, discarded silver lamé, and depleted checkbooks in its wake.

All in all, Beyoncé 's ninth concert tour pulled in $579 million, making it the highest-grossing tour by a female artist in history, and the seventh-highest-grossing tour overall.

But if you look at it based on number of shows, Queen Bey maintains her crown. The Renaissance Tour had 56 shows that ran the course of the summer versus, say, the No. 6 highest-grossing tour, Guns N' Roses three-year, 158-show Never In This Lifetime... Tour.

And then there's the average gross per show: Bey made $10.3 million per show, compared to the highest-grossing tour of all-time, Elton John 's Farewell Yellow Brick Road, which averaged $2.8 million per show (it ran for five years and 330 shows, grossing $939.1 million).

The Renaissance Tour also broke Billboard's record for biggest one-month gross with $127.6 million.

All that money helped boost the American economy, with The New York Times estimating that the Bey bump generated about $4.5 billion, comparable to what the 2008 Olympics did for Beijing.

Across 10 countries and 39 cities, the Renaissance Tour machine employed 304 people, as Beyoncé gagged 2.7 million fans in 148 different looks from over 35 fashion houses, while singing 34 songs per night.

And for those who missed out on the live o-p-u-l-e-n-c-e, there's a Renaissance concert film coming to theaters Dec. 1, fulfilling the promise of those long-awaited visuals.

And we only had to wait 490 days. But who's counting?

Was happy to find out they opened! Went yesterday after my procedure I was anticipating great food. I ordered the Teriyaki Burger and garlic fries which I found to be so tasty I definitely will order that again!! My husband wanted to try the grilled cheese and tomato soup, I had to taste the soup too, wow so flavorful. I can see us going back time and time again, the staff was very friendly and helpful what an amazing dining experience .

We went to Planted for lunch today in Kakaako, just opened last week... I had the Mushroom Dip Sandwich and she had the Burger, both were good. The service was very friendly and fast, we each got a complementary Canele' as well, Mochi and Black Sesame, which was cool. It is a small place, a couple tables if you wanted to eat there, but we did take out. I would recommend if you are looking for some tasty meatless lunch in Ward Village!

Soft opening now (the store is clean and nice): I got teriyaki smash burger and croissants. You can't believe the smash burger is vegan: tasty with lettuce, onions, tomato, and cheese. This made me full yet not greasy, so great! One thing you need to know is a waiting time: needed to wait for 10 minutes but just give them Aloha. A male employee was friendly. They gave me a mochi canele for tasting (limited time?). I chose matcha and it was good (enjoyed while waiting). The following morning, I had their croissant: it's not flaky, so it doesn't mess the dining room and it was good with fruit jam. I will sure to go back and try other menus.

Delicious vegan food and perfect for my niece who is allergic to eggs and dairy. I especially enjoyed the maple flavored mochi bites! Very excited to have Planted in the neighborhood. Welcome!

Super yummy smash burgers. Love having this vegan option in Kakaako. Staff was really friendly and despite it being a soft opening, service was really efficient and food came quickly. Can't wait to go back and try more.

First of all parking is at the Ward parking garage across Whole Foods. At least that's where i parked. I tried several items, tamago toast, teri burger, garlic fries, grill cheese, mushroom dip, iced coffee, and got complimentary dessert mochi bites. Tamago toast taste just like an egg salad sandwich! Good use of the black salt! Teri burger small kine salty, wish had more greens in the burger itself cause the patty was pretty big and the sauce was a bit too salty to me. But yes, I'd mop that burger again. Grill cheese or should I say soggy cheese could've had more effort put into it since they were out of the regular bread and i chose poi sourdough instead. Fries at regular La Tours are usually crispy and flavorful, the ones i got here were soggy and taste wasn't as garlicky- are these vegan which is why they were soggy? Ice coffee good, and they have the good ice that's great for munching! The mochi bites was so good cause had so many edges. I wonder if those were vegan too tho . I'll be back to try the artichoke sando and maybe something else.

Rachel Rohrabacher (L) and Anna Bright celebrate a dominant Women's Pro Doubles performance in ... [+] Houston.

The second stop in a four-straight weekend stretch for the Professional Pickleball Association saw the tour head west from last weekend’s rainy North Carolina event to sunny Houston for the 2024 Veolia Houston Open. The tour continues its partnership with Life Time Fitness, which hosts a slew of PPA PPA events across the nation, and is holding this event at the Kingwood location in the upper northeast suburbs of Houston.

The Houston event is a 1000-level PPA event, and because of the packed schedule this month, the draw was a little thinned from normal. The tour’s two top females (#1 Anna Leigh Waters & #2 Catherine Parenteau) both bowed out here, leaving the Women’s and Mixed draws wide open.

Click here for the PickleballBrackets.com home page for the event, where you can get tournament details, draw sheets, and results.

Let’s Recap the action.

Men’s Pro Singles Recap

Federico Staksrud made the gold medal final for the seventh event on the trot in Houston, and will ... [+] soon be #1 on tour.

Google Suddenly Reveals Better Than iPhone Update For Pixel Users

Trump s first criminal trial starts today here s who could show up and what to watch for, apple’s game-changing iphone updates are here—but there’s a catch.

The Men’s Singles draw was as stacked as always, with nearly the entire top ten playing and more than 60 trying to qualify in. The newly signed Johnson twins (Hunter and Yates) continue to make waves despite being mired with seeds in the 30s: #31 Yates crushed #7 Pablo Tellez in the round of 32 2,4 before falling to the youngster #10 Quong Duong a round later. #34 Hunter played into #3 Connor Garnett and took a game off of the frequent PPA medalist before falling. Two other 20-something seeds advanced into the 16s: Florida teenage sensation #21 Cason Campbell took out #12 Julian Arnold in two, while #23 Roscoe Bellamy scored the mini-upset over #16 Anton Gutz to get a shot at #1 Johns.

For the second time in 2024, Quang Duong topped #1 Ben Johns, this time in the quarter finals. In the season’s first event at the Hyundai Masters, the two met in a progression draw round of 16, meaning that Duong had already played several matches while Johns was just starting up, and the narrative was that Ben is a notorious slow starter and got caught flat footed in the tour’s first event. That wasn’t the story here: in a 1000-level event both players had already played two rounds of singles matches, and Duong took it to Johns to win rather easily 5,9. Duong then crushed #6 Jaume Martinez Vich 3,4 to make the final, ensuing his first ever PPA medal.

The story of this draw though has to be the performance of #35 Donald Young, one of the former big-name tennis pros signed by the PPA during last August’s tour wars. He’s had little impact so far in his pickleball career, but he went off in Houston. First he topped singles specialist #29 Frank Anthony Davis in the 64s, then he got a stunning come-from-behind victory over the surging #8 Jay Devilliers in the 32s. Normally we’d expect to see a let-down from a surprise winner like this, but Young kept going, topping #21 Cason Campbell in the 16s. Facing his biggest challenge yet in the quarters, Young got his best ever win, topping #3 Connor Garnett 12-10 in the third. His run was ended by the singles machine that is #2 Federico Staksrud.

In the final, Staksrud showed that there’s still a bit of a gap for Duong to cover, trouncing the young Californian 6,2 to claim his third gold medal of the season.

A quick note on the tour rankings race in Singles: in seven Men’s Singles events so far this year, Johns has three golds and three head-to-head wins over Staksrud, but he also now has three early upsets. Meanwhile, Staksrud has now made the singles final all seven times (X golds, X silvers) and has taken a commanding lead in the season-to-date points race. Johns still holds the overall lead, but one more superior result and Staksrud will supplant Johns at the top.

Gold : Federico Staksrud. Silver : Quang Duong. Bronze : Jaume Martinez Vich.

Women’s Pro Singles Recap

Lea Jansen wins for the first time in more than a year, in dominant fashion.

With both #1 and #2 out, as well as most of the rest of the current top 10 ranked singles players, the seeds in Houston looked a little different. Mary Brascia and Lea Jansen secured the two top seeds (they’re #3 and #4 on tour right now), but the rest of the players securing top eight seeds are mostly outside the top ten. This means there was a huge opportunity for not only some new matches in the back end of the event, but an opportunity for first time gold medalists. And boy did we get some fresh faces in the back half of this draw.

Half the top 8 seeds didn’t even get to the quarters, led by #19 Samantha Parker topping #1 Brascia in the round of 16 in three-games. #33 Alix Truong dominated #7 Kaitlyn Christian in the round of 32, then continued over #11 Jamie Haas to make the quarters. Newly MLP drafted player #21 Martina Frantova took out the #12 and #8 seeds to make the quarters. Lastly, #14 Christine Maddox took out #3 Lina Padegimaite in the 16s.

Parker, who likely would have exited at the hands of #1 Waters two rounds earlier, took full advantage of the situation, beating Frantova in the quarters and then topping #4 Lacy Schneemann in a tight (10),9,9 match in the semis to push through to the Sunday final from the top-half of the draw. She guarantees herself her first pro medal in any discipline, on any pro tour. The bottom half went a little more to seeds, with #2 Lea Jansen surviving a scare from #5 Dominique Schaefer in the quarters, then easing past #6 Parris Todd in the semis to secure the Sunday final. Todd, who was seeded #37 in the first PPA event of the year, continues to push up the singles rankings.

In the final, Jansen had a chance to win her first PPA singles gold since August 2021, and didn’t take long to do so, crushing Parker 3,2 to take the gold. Schneemann got a walkover for the Bronze.

Gold : Lea Jansen. Silver : Samantha Parker. Bronze : Lacy Schneemann

Mixed Pro Doubles Recap

With Waters missing, Ben Johns picked up an old friend in Etta Wright but fell to the #2 seed in the draw, giving the #1 seed to Anna Bright & James Ignatowich. However, James aggravated the shoulder injury he’s been nursing for a few weeks, so the pair withdrew. This left a gaping hole at the top of the bracket, one which #14 Parris Todd & Zane Navratil pounced upon to slide into the quarters. There, they met #11 Tina Pisnik & Dekel Bar, surprise finalists last week. Pisnik & Bar showed they are not a one-and-done fluke, topping Todd & Navratil in three, then out-lasted #4 Jesse Irvine & Pablo Tellez with a tactical masterpiece in the semis to return to the final for a second week in a row.

From the bottom-half, Ben had a rare face-off against his brother Collin (playing with Regina Goldberg) in the round of 16, advancing with ease. The #2 seeds then downed a tough #10 Callie Smith & Jay Devilliers (now teammates in MLP) in the quarters to move into the semis. There, they faced the ever-improving #12 seed of Christian Alshon & Jackie Kawamoto, who surprised the #6 team of Dylan Frazier & Hurricane Tyra Black in the round of 16, then got a great win over #3 Thomas Wilson & Vivienne David in the quarters to book their semis spot. Alshon and Kawamoto fought, but fell 4,9 to give Ben & Wright a spot in the finals.

In the final, Ben had a chance to win a Mixed Pro gold with someone not named Anna Leigh for the first time since late 2021, and did not miss out on the opportunity. Pisnik & Bar were kept under control for most of the match, and fell 4,5,5 to Johns & Wright. Despite the loss, Bar finishes off a two-medal weekend.

Gold : Wright & Johns. Silver : Pisnik & Bar. Bronze : Kawamoto & Alshon.

Men’s Pro Doubles Recap

Collin Johns helped remind everyone why he and his brother are #1 on tour.

The Men’s doubles draw was missing a few top 10 ranked players, but certainly did not suffer for depth as the first couple of rounds mostly went to seed. Only a couple of non-withdrawal based upsets occurred in the round of 64, and just one upset-by-seed occurred in the round of 32 (#18 CJ Klinger & Jaume Martinez Vich taking out #12 Spencer Smith & Todd Fought). The improving Klinger & Vich continued their run, getting a great win over #8 Jay Devilliers & Pat Smith before falling in the quarters to the #1 seeds Ben & Collin Johns 8,8. Dylan Frazier swapped one Johnson (JW) for another (Yates) but fell in the quarters to #5 Thomas Wilson & Dekel Bar. The Johns brothers were not seriously challenged on Saturday, cruising through the upper half of the draw to make the final without dropping a game.

The bottom half of the draw featured a big upset early: #2 Matt Wright & James Ignatowich were taken out early by #13 Rafa Hewett & Will Howells in three games. Ignatowich withdrew from mixed a day earlier, but tried to compete as the left-side dominant player in Men’s on his still-ailing shoulder and failed. The lefty-righty pair of Hewett & Howells fell in the quarters to another lefty-righty pair in #7 Tyler Loong & Christian Alshon. The loss of the #2 seed cleared the way for yet another lefty-righty team of Federiko Staksrud & Pablo Tellez to get to the final from the bottom half, though they had to survive a 13-11 third game scare in the quarters against #6 Connor Garnett & DJ Young.

In the final, the Johns brothers absolutely dominated the #3 seeds Staksrud & Tellez, winning 0,2,2 in a match that might not have been that close.

Gold : Johns & Johns. Silver : Staksrud & Tellez. Bronze : Wilson & Barr.

Women’s Pro Doubles Recap

In the absence of the regular #1 ranked team, Anna Bright & Rachel Rohrabacher ascended to the top spot, looking to avenge a very-early loss last week. Avenge the performance they did, cruising through the top half of the draw, winning 8 games/4 matches and giving up just 23 points along the way to secure the final. #5 Lacy Schneemann & Jesse Irvine came the closest to them, losing 5,6. #8 Lea Jansen & Tina Pisnik fell in the semis from the top-half, but salvaged the bronze for the event.

From the bottom half, long time partners #2 Lucy Kovalova & Callie Smith survived a quarter final challenge from #9 Parris Todd & Hurricane Tyra Black, but fell in the semis to the solid team of #4 Vivienne David & Jackie Kawamoto.

In the final, Bright & Rohrabacher were pressed by the excellent play from David & Kawamoto, but ultimately finished the task of the weekend and won 8,4,9. It is their third gold medal in the last two months and tightens the gap for #1 on tour. Despite the loss, Kawamoto finishes off a two-medal weekend.

Gold : Bright & Rohrabacher. Silver : David & Kawamoto. Bronze : Jansen & Pisnik.

Senior Competition Quick Recap

There was not a single “Senior Open” event competed at the Houston event, likely due to all the Seniors who would generally play such events being in Naples for the US Open.

Jordan Spieth made a 9 at the par-5 15th in the first round of the Masters Tournament, matching his highest single-hole score on TOUR, en route to missing the cut by three strokes.

That was a harbinger of the cut-line chaos that unfolded Friday afternoon at Augusta National Golf Club, where 60 players made the cut at 6-over 148 or better. Players to miss the cut also included the last two major champions in Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman, in addition to world No. 6 Viktor Hovland, who carded a second-round 81 that included a three-putt double bogey from 5 feet at the par-5 15th hole, finishing two outside the number at 8-over 152.

Perhaps no player missed the cut in more heartbreaking fashion than Justin Thomas, who played his last four holes in 7-over for a back-nine 42 to miss by one stroke. Thomas was even-par for the tournament as he arrived at the 15th hole late Friday afternoon, but his second shot found the pond fronting the green, leading to a double bogey, which he followed with a double bogey at No. 16, bogey at No. 17 and double bogey at No. 18. It marked Thomas’ fourth missed cut in his last five major starts, and it bore similarities to his missed cut at last year’s Masters, where he also carded a back-nine 42 to miss the cut by one.

As the winds gusted Friday afternoon and the course continually dried out, scoring conditions grew more perilous by the minute. For most of Friday, the cut line looked most likely to settle at 4-over 146. Then it moved to 5-over 147 for a brief period. Then in the waning daylight, the cut line settled at 6-over 148, with 60 players advancing to the weekend at the Masters.

After 36 holes, the Masters field is cut to the low 50 players and ties. The second round finished with 11 players tied for 50th place at 6-over; if any one of these players finished a stroke better, the cut line would have been 5-over. Perilous margins on a perilous afternoon amidst Augusta’s famed loblolly pines, where three players share the lead at 6-under 138: Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa and Bryson DeChambeau.

Playing in Friday’s final grouping, reigning U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark had a chance to become the 61st player onward to the weekend. Following a three-putt bogey at the 17th hole, Clark bombed a drive on the finishing hole and feathered a short iron to 13 feet for a birdie try that would move him to 6-over. The putt tracked toward the hole but turned right at the end, and he joined reigning U.S. Amateur champion Nick Dunlap (who had a 38-foot birdie try at the finishing hole) as 2023 USGA winners to miss the cut by one. Dunlap’s afternoon was not without heroics, as the 20-year-old made birdie at Nos. 13, 15 and 17 (against a bogey at No. 16) in a valiant effort that fell one stroke shy.

Joining Clark, Dunlap and Thomas at 7-over 149, missing the cut by one stroke, were Justin Rose, Sungjae Im, Austin Eckroat, Zach Johnson, Mike Weir, Lee Hodges and Sergio Garcia.

Players to advance on the number (6-over 148) included Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama, Grayson Murray, Si Woo Kim, Adam Scott, Tom Kim, Jake Knapp, Luke List, Thorbjørn Olesen, Russell Henley and two-time Masters winner Jose Maria Olazábal – who at age 58 overcame a triple bogey at the par-3 12th with a birdie at No. 16 to advance to the weekend.

Vijay Singh (4-over 146) was the oldest player to make the cut, carding rounds of 75-73 at age 61. The 2000 Masters champion will play the weekend at Augusta National for the first time since 2018.

Ohio State’s Neal Shipley, last year’s U.S. Amateur runner-up, advanced to the weekend at 3-over 145, securing low amateur honors as the only of five amateurs in the field to make the cut.

In all, 29 players failed to advance to the weekend, perhaps no name more startling than Spieth, whose game through the years has shown to fit Augusta National’s demands more than most. His missed cut stems back to the mercurial 15th in the opening round. After safely laying up to 77 yards, Spieth missed the green long on his third shot, and his pitch rolled across the green and into the pond fronting the green. He walked all the way back around the pond to play his sixth shot, which again sailed over the green. He chipped on and two-putted for 9, tying the highest single-hole score of his PGA TOUR career.

Spieth began the 15th hole at 2-over, and he ended it at 6-over. He followed the quadruple bogey with a par-bogey-par finish to his first round, and he wouldn’t get any closer to the cut line for the rest of his Masters.

Spieth, 30, reported wrist trouble that affected his preparation for last week’s Valero Texas Open, but he finished T10 anyway in his final start before the Masters. The week began with buzz regarding whether the Texan could recapture the form that produced a win and a pair of runners-up in his first three Masters appearances (2014-16). It wasn’t meant to be, but the good news for Spieth lies within his lifetime Masters invitation per his 2015 victory. He’ll have more chances to earn a second green jacket.

Burns stood well outside the cut line after an opening-round 80, but he moved to the precipice with birdies on Nos. 10, 12 and 13 in the second round, which put him at 5-over total. The LSU alum made bogey on No. 15, double bogey on No. 16 and bogey on No. 17 to finish outside the line for the second time in three Masters starts.

Harman will lament a back-nine 47 in his opening round, which included a triple bogey on No. 16 followed by back-to-back double bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18. That followed an encouraging 2-under 34 to start the Masters, and he carded a respectable even-par 72 in a blustery second round. Although he was 2-under across three of his four nines, that 47 means the reigning Open champion will sit this weekend out.

Couples has struggled with back issues throughout his career, and this week was no different as he gingerly navigated hilly Augusta National with rounds of 80-76. Couples vowed afterward, though, that he would return again to compete at the Masters. “I'm planning on being healthy and making the cut and telling Fred (Ridley, chairman of Augusta National) I'm coming back the next year, too,” he said afterward.

As a Masters champion, after all, Couples has earned the right to do so.

Emma Roberts, Let Ryan Murphy Film a Horror Movie in Your Home

Portrait of Jason P. Frank

Sometimes the scariest movies are the ones you least expect. The 1999 film Audition , for example, begins as a romance and devolves into a terrifying horror film filled with torture porn. Similarly, the Emma Roberts Architectural Digest house tour begins pleasantly enough before devolving into a frightening example of a type of madness likely to render you an insomniac for the rest of the week. The video begins auspiciously enough: Roberts is talking about her living room. There is a terrifying, doll-faced pillow on one chair, but that’s fine, there are also flowers. But then she says something ominous: “It’s a grown-up doll house.” What could that mean? Well … meet Emma Roberts’s dolls, a collection of plastic and ceramic freaks.

“These are the dollykins,” Roberts says, after shoving a desk aside to get an “optimal looks at the dolls.” She then introduces the audience to her crew of misfits, who have clearly scrambled her brain with their dark toy magic because she claims multiple are her favorite and multiple were her first. There’s Leggy Jill (ah! Why so long?) and drunk-cowgirl Barbie (scary eyes!), and, most terrifyingly, Blythe, a Wednesday Addams–like doll who has an eery emptiness behind her eyes. Roberts has two of these. The rest of the tour features doll faces popping up with no comment. They are wine corks, cups in the bathroom, they’re on bookcases, on mugs, they’re wall art, and dear God, all of their eyes follow you even though this is a video and that can’t possibly be true. It’s high time that Roberts invites Ryan Murphy into her home to film a horror movie or perhaps a season of American Horror Story: Dolls . We just think that would be— Ah! What was that? Was that one of the dolls?

2024 Volvo China Open Green Drive initiative

In cooperation with the European Tour Group’s ‘Green Drive’ initiative, the 2024 Volvo China Open will implement a number of activities to emphasize sustainability throughout the event. The key areas of focus of this campaign include green transportation, waste reduction, environmentally friendly catering, inclusivity and accessibility, and community legacy. Together these activities will help the tournament continue to push the boundaries of sustainability for golf events.

Picture1

Low Emission Transportation

Eco friendly transportation has consistently been a cornerstone of sustainability efforts at the Volvo China Open. Last year upon the resumption of the tournament, the organizing committee facilitated shuttle bus services for fans, staff, and media using clean energy buses. This year, additional shuttle services will exclusively feature thethe Volvo EM90, the company's first ever fully electric premium MPV, further reducing carbon emissions throughout the event.

Plastic Waste Reduction

The 2023 Volvo China Open marked the inaugural year of a successful collaboration with Bluewater, Sweden’s leader in water purification technology. In a concerted effort to reduce plastic waste, the tournament prohibited the sale of single-use plastics on-site. Instead, Bluewater installed 17 water purification stations throughout the venue, providing complimentary water to tens of thousands of fans, athletes, and staff. This initiative resulted in an estimated distribution of 130,000 liters of water and prevented 260,000 half-liter plastic water bottles from contributing to environmental pollution. As the tournament eagerly returns to the DP World Tour this year, the number of water stations will be increased to 21, complemented by the addition of a new water wall feature. Furthermore, only eco-friendly cups will be available to spectators, further enhancing our commitment to sustainability.

Green Catering

Adhering to the principles of the 'Green Drive' initiative, all food and beverages served at this year's Volvo China Open will be sourced exclusively from local seasonal ingredients. Our menu selection will prioritize sustainability, offering vegetarian and halal options to cater to diverse dietary preferences. In our commitment to minimizing waste, any food surplus generated during the event will be composted, while all containers utilized will be made from recyclable and biodegradable materials.

Inclusivity and Accessibility

One of the central pillars of the 'Green Drive' initiative is to foster inclusivity within the game of golf, ensuring access for all individuals regardless of gender, age, or disabilities. This year's Volvo China Open, hosted at the Hidden Grace Golf Club in Shenzhen, remains committed to this ethos, striving to make the tournament open and accessible to everyone. Efforts are underway to enhance the venue's accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Moreover, the tournament is expanding its social outreach initiatives, including local school programs and collaborations with the Shenzhen Metro Volunteer Federation. These concerted efforts aim to ensure that this year's tournament is even more inclusive and welcoming to all.

Community Legacy

The Volvo China Open is dedicated to contributing to the local community through various means. As the largest golf tournament in China, it attracts numerous spectators, generating significant economic benefits for the city of Shenzhen and particularly the Longgang district. The organizing committee prioritizes local sourcing of raw materials, further bolstering the region's economy. Additionally, the tournament provides employment opportunities for many local residents, fostering the acquisition of new skills and professional development. Importantly, the event's impact extends beyond the duration of a single week, contributing to long-term sustainable development goals in the community.

The European Tour Group’s ‘Green Drive’ initiative is a robust commitment to addressing priority issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, air and ocean pollution, and sustainable and ethical procurement. Launched on World Environment Day, June 5, 2021, as part of the overarching Corporate Social Responsibility program “Golf for Good”, the Green Drive aligns with the United Nations’ “The Decade of Action” and aims to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2040. The initiative is supported by the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf (GEO), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainability in golf. The Green Drive’s approach to climate action aligns directly with The Paris Agreement and the UN Sport for Climate Framework. The initiative focuses on key areas such as fostering nature, conserving resources, social responsibility and value, and climate action.

In line with the 'Green Drive' initiative, the Volvo China Open remains committed to enhancing its established sustainability endeavors throughout the event. By implementing a diverse array of initiatives, the tournament aims to fulfill and potentially surpass the ambitious standards set by the European Tour Group.

"Since 2021, we've really embedded green and sustainable development principles into every aspect of our event planning, both during and after the event. We've seen some tangible progress towards making the event more sustainable," shared Michel Zhao, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Volvo China Open. "Now, as we move forward, we're at a crucial stage. How we build on our successes and push things further really tests our entire team, especially in areas like providing eco-friendly catering, ensuring fairness and inclusivity, and boosting local prosperity. It's not just about what we do internally, but also about garnering support from the wider community. However, I'm confident that with the guidance of the European Tour Group's 'Green Drive’ initiative, we can overcome any challenges and deliver outcomes that we can all be proud of."
