La Tour Montparnasse infernale (sometimes translated as Don't Die Too Hard , literally The Infernal Montparnasse Tower ) is a 2001 French comedy film directed by Charles Nemes and starring Éric Judor, Ramzy Bedia and Marina Foïs.

Éric and Ramzy are window washers who work at the Tour Montparnasse in Paris . Eric is in love with Stéphanie, an executive who he has never talked to, but who he sees every day because she works in the skyscrapper. Shortly after the close of business, a group of gangsters enters the building and takes hostage several executives, including Stéphanie. Éric and Ramzy, who have stayed late in the skyscrapper, will try to free her.

A prequel , La Tour de contrôle infernale , was released in 2016 .

La Tour Montparnasse infernale (2001) provides examples of:

• Air-Vent Passageway : Éric and Ramzy use an air-vent passageway when they are chased by Ming.
• Are You Sure You Can Drive This Thing? : Éric and Ramzy try to fly a helicopter. It ends in a crash landing.
• Asshole Victim : The CEO is a horrible person (he slapped his niece in the face because he thought that the colour of the paper she used for a document was ugly; he does not care if his niece is shot down by gangsters...), so the audience does not care if he is taken hostage.
• Bad Boss : "Machin" abuses his minions: he hits one of them in the face with a gun because he shot in a window. He also shoots Chang down .
• Borrowed Biometric Bypass : A gangster cut the hand of the CEO's wife, because her hand is necessary to open the second door of the safe. Then the CEO is forced to look into a retinal scanner to open a third door.
• Brandishment Bluff : When Ming fights Ramzy, Éric shows up and pretends that he has a gun under his coat of mail. Obviously, it is just a Finger Gun .
• Bruce Lee Clone : Ming, a martial art fighter with a bowl-cut, a yellow jumpsuits and a nunchaku. (His fight scene with Ramzy is a parody of a scene from Game of Death .)
• Bullet Time : Parodied when Éric manage to dodge the bullets shot at him.
• The Cameo : The famous rapper JoeyStarr (of Suprême NTM fame) appears briefly as a policeman.
• Casting Gag : JoeyStarr playing the role of a policeman is quite funny given the fact that he has had many problems with the police (including being sentenced for insulting the police during his concerts).
• Closet Gay : At one point, when he thinks they're going to be blown up by a bomb, Ramzy admits to Éric that he's attracted to the (fictional) bodybuilder Peter MacCalloway . Éric spends the rest of the movie mocking him for this, while Ramzy tries in vain to downplay the statement.
• Coming in Hot : In the end, the helicopter has to crash land into the front of Montparnasse train station.
• Damsel in Distress : Stéphanie is taken hostage by a group of gangsters. Éric and Ramzy decide to help her. Subverted because she is actually the brains of the operation.
• Did Not Get the Girl : Éric does not get together with Stéphanie in the end.
• "Die Hard" on an X : A skyscrapper is taken over by gangsters and Éric and Ramzy accidentally use guerrilla tactics to stop them.
• Disney Death : Machin shoots Stéphanie at point-blank range. She collapses and there is a big bloodstain on her belly. It turns out that this scene was staged by Stéphanie herself.
• Disney Villain Death : Machin dies when he falls from the helicopter.
• The Ditz : Éric and Ramzy. Ramzy is slightly more clever than Eric, but he is still a complete doofus.
• Dressing as the Enemy : Éric and Ramzy wear the uniform of the helicopter pilots and their face-concealing helmets to pose as them.
• Elevator Failure : Chang is in the elevator. Suddenly it stops because a bomb explodes. Chang has to get out through the ceiling of the cabin.
• Equal-Opportunity Evil : The group of gangsters is lead by a white Frenchman (Michel Vignault or "Machin"). It includes, besides several white Frenchmen, two Asians (Ming and Chang), a German (Hans), and an African American (Chris).
• Extremely Short Timespan : The story takes place between the end of the afternoon and the next morning.
• The Fool : Éric and Ramzi are two stupid window washers. They do not understand what really happens. They do not realize that Stéphanie is the Big Bad . Highly-trained gangsters are after them to kill them, but they manage to survive and to ruin the gangsters' plan by sheer luck.
• Hellish Copter : The helicopter used by the gangsters to escape ends up in the front of Montparnasse train station.
• Hoist by His Own Petard : Chris, a gangster, is killed by a bullet that he shoots at Éric, because the bullet ricochets off Éric's armor.
• Hostage Situation : The gangsters take hostage the members of the board of a company, who are the CEO's sons. This is to force the CEO to disclose the code that opens the first door of the safe. This is also to prevent to police from storming the building.
• Love-Interest Traitor : It is revealed early that Stéphanie, Éric's love interest, is the mastermind of the taking of hostages, but the protagonists take a very long time to realize it.
• Malaproper : Éric and Ramzy get many words wrong. For example, Éric says "pour ta gouvernante" ("for your housekeeper") instead of "pour ta gouverne" ("for your information") and "Hasta la vista, bye bye" instead of "Hasta la vista, baby".
• Manchild : Éric and Ramzy act like young children. The police officer who intercepts their call on the radio comes to the conclusion that they are children playing with a radio.
• Mean Boss : The CEO slapped Stéphanie in the face because he thought that the colour of the paper she used for a document was ugly. He is also rude with the security guard at the entrance of the building.
• Mistaken for Badass : "Machin" thinks that Éric and Ramzy are "professionals", whereas they are just very lucky idiots.
• Muscle Angst : Ramzy's arms are skinny and everybody notices it. Yet, he follows a special programme of body-building and should become very muscular.
• No Name Given : Éric and Ramzy's characters are never named. When he talks to the police, Ramzy pretends that Éric is Michel, a philosopher. When Éric and Ramzy meet Stéphanie, Ramzy introduces himself as Peter Mac Calloway and Éric as François, then as Francis (Éric adds "Francis Huster", which is the name of a French actor). In both cases, it seems to be made up identities.
• The film as a whole (including the poster) is a parody of Die Hard .
• The bullet dodge scene is a parody of The Matrix .
• The fight between Ming and Ramzy is a parody of the fight between Billy Lo ( Bruce Lee ) and Hakim ( Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ) in Game of Death (the costumes, including the yellow tracksuit, are the same).
• In the end, Stéphanie tells Éric and Ramzy that she has booby-trapped their shoes. She pretends that their shoes will explode if they run slower than 30 km/h. This is a reference to Speed .
• Pinball Projectile : A bullet shot by a gangster, Chris, at Éric ricochets off Éric's armor and kills the gangster.
• Reading Lips : Éric thinks that he can read lips. Actually, he gets some words right, but he always misunderstands the full meaning of the sentence.
• The title is a reference to The Towering Inferno (in French La Tour infernale ).
• Éric tells Ramzy "Hasta la vista, bye bye", a malapropism for "Hasta la vista, baby", a catchphrase from Terminator 2: Judgment Day .
• Stéphanie ironically tells Machin that he is as perceptive as Shaggy from Scooby-Doo .
• Ramzy calls Ming "San Ku Kaï", which is the French title of Message from Space: Galactic Wars , a spin-off series of the Japanese film Message from Space .
• Spanner in the Works : Eric and Ramzy, two very stupid window washers, ruin the elaborate plan of Stéphanie to steal the money of her uncle.
• Unwanted Rescue : Éric and Ramzy want to free Stéphanie, whereas she does not need rescue, since she is the mastermind of the taking of hostages.
• Uptown Girl : Éric, a poor window washer, falls in love with Stéphanie, a rich executive.
• You Have Failed Me : "Machin" shoots Chang down when he finds him unconscious, because he has lost the hand of the CEO's wife.

La Tour de contrôle infernale (2016) provides examples of:

• Bad Boss : Janouniou shoots down his mooks on any pretext, for example because they correct his language mistakes.
• Banana Peel : Exaggerated . According to Éric and Ramzy, bananas caused a truck to crash.
• Bloody Hilarious : Bachir Bouzouk's very bloody wounds are played for laughs.
• Empty Quiver : The "Moustachious" steal communications satellites and a nuclear weapon from a plane. They plan to explode the nuclear device above Paris.
• Generation Xerox : Like their sons, Ernest Krakenkrick and Bachir Bouzouk are the Spanner in the Works in a "Die Hard" on an X scenario.
• High-Pressure Blood : Happens to Bachir Bouzouk when his hands and his feet are wounded. He loses liters of blood.
• Identical Grandson : Éric and Ramzy play the roles of the fathers of their characters in the first film. Marina Foïs plays the mother of Stéphanie, her character in the first film.
• Malevolent Masked Men : The "Moustachious" wear masks.
• Offscreen Moment of Awesome : During a job interview, Éric and Ramzy tell the climax of the story, which is not showed on screen: Zavier dropped his bananas; the truck drove on it and skidded. This prevented the explosion.
• Parody : The film as a whole is a parody of Die Hard 2 .
• Pocket Protector : Parodied . Krakenkrick, Bouzouk, Jean-Peter McCallaway , "Le Méchant", and Zavier are successively revealed to have survived a close-range shot, because they were protected by objects hidden under their clothes, like dog tags, a weight plate, and bananas.
• Prequel : The story is set in 1981, 20 years before the events of the first film.

2001 Directed by Charles Nemes

Eric and Ramzy are working as window washers at the Montparnasse skyscraper in Paris. Thinking that he has a date set up with beautiful executive Marie-Joelle (who in reality hates his guts), Ramzy stays at work late while Eric hangs around with him. As a result, the pair witness a gang of terrorists seize the tower and take its late-night occupants (including Marie- Joelle) hostage. Knowing that only they can save the day, Eric and Ramzy swing into action.

C’est pas une compétition mais moi une fois je me suis couché à 1h15 et j’étais même pas fatigué je jour d’après. Après c’était un vendredi soir donc je me suis réveillé un peu plus tard le jour d’après (vers 10h00) étant donné que c’était un samedi. Finalement j’ai quand même eu mes 8 heures de sommeil, presque 9 donc c’est plutôt normal que je n’était pas fatigué. Une autre fois aussi je me suis couché vers minuit mais cette fois-ci je te raconte pas comment j’étais fatigué, bonjour le décalage horaire.

An amazing, deeply connected to trans-ratial communities. I really liked the part when Eric, one of the main character talk to the asian boy in his language to explain him what's going on, and also to tell him that it's not racist. Trully a beautiful scene. Thank you for this masterpiece, and I hope to see this duo in another serie in a hospital (I'm talking qbout Eric and Ramzi). It would also be nice to see them with Jamel Debouze, a great actor from this period. Again, Thank you.

L e titre annonce une parodie du cinéma d’action américain, et un sens du gag à cheval sur le burlesque et l’Almanach Vermot. Côté pastiche, c’est le service minimal. Cambriolage, prise d’otages et dynamitage au cinquantième étage : une collection de clichés à peine revus et corrigés, et très platement filmés. Le décor « hollywoodien » est à la fois mal conçu et mal exploité visuellement, ni vrai ni faux, ni bande dessinée, ni grand spectacle.

L’esprit foufou d’Éric et de Ramzy vient heureusement pirater ce film mou. C’est d’ailleurs leur rôle dans l’histoire : deux laveurs de carreaux de la tour Montparnasse, gaffeurs et toujours à côté de la plaque, court-circuitent un braquage. Les deux compères finissent par retourner à leur profit la nullité des situations et la faiblesse de la mise en scène, emportées par une loufoquerie qui fait feu de tout bois. C’est souvent plaisant et assez sympathique : au lieu de chercher à devenir de grands acteurs comiques qu’on prendra au sérieux, Éric et Ramzy s’amusent avec leur film comme des gamins qui cassent leur jouet.

Eric et Ramzy lavent les vitres de la Tour Montparnasse. La journée s'achève et seule Marie-Joëlle se trouve encore dans les bureaux désertés ; elle attend son oncle, un patron despotique. Eric tente en vain de séduire la jeune femme avec de nombreuses mimiques. L'oncle arrive enfin, entouré de ses fidèles. Soudain, des malfaiteurs surgissent dans le but de dérober le contenu d'un coffre-fort. Alertés par les coups de feu, les laveurs de carreaux n'écoutent que leur lâcheté et prennent la fuite. Mais Eric fait bientôt demi-tour, Ramzy sur ses talons, pour les beaux yeux de Marie-Joëlle. Les deux complices surmontent leur couardise pour mettre les affreux hors d'état de nuire...

Le grand maigre et le petit chauve sont de retour ! 14 ans après La Tour Montparnasse Infernale , le célèbre duo formé par Ramzy Bedia  et Eric Judor  revient avec le prequel de leur film culte, La Tour 2 Contrôle Infernale , anciennement L'Aréoport (avec une faute d'orthographe volontaire). Côté casting, on pourra compter sur la présence de  Marina Foïs .

Ce second volet raconte la genèse des aventures des deux laveurs de carreaux.

Juin 1981 Ernest Krakenfield (Eric) et Bachir Bouzouk (Ramzy) sont deux brillants pilotes de l’armée française. Suite à une malencontreuse erreur au cours d’un test de centrifugeuse, ils perdent une partie de leur potentiel intellectuel. L’armée voulant les garder dans l’aviation, on leur trouve un poste de bagagistes à Orly Ouest. Et là...

Mis en scène par Eric Judor, qui était déjà derrière la caméra pour Seuls Two , L a Tour 2 Contrôle Infernale sortira sur nos écrans le 10 février 2016.

Elle marque la première apparition d' Éric et Ramzy au cinéma en tant que personnages principaux, après leurs succès à la télévision et sur scène.

Parodiant notamment les films Piège de cristal , La Tour infernale , Matrix et Le Jeu de la mort , il met en scène Éric et Ramzy en laveurs de carreaux de la tour Montparnasse , confrontés à une prise d'otage . À sa sortie, le film réunit plus de deux millions d'entrées, devenant ainsi le 11 e   film français le plus vu en salles en 2001 .

En 2016 , Éric et Ramzy reviennent dans une préquelle , La Tour de contrôle infernale , réalisée par Éric Judor lui-même, qui ne rencontre pas le succès du premier volet, entre-temps devenu un «   film culte   » [1] .

Accrochés à leur nacelle à l'extérieur du 52 e   étage de la tour Montparnasse , deux laveurs de carreaux ont comme d'habitude pris du retard sur leur travail. Éric regarde à travers la vitre la belle Marie-Joëlle (qui s’appelle en réalité Stéphanie), dont il est éperdument amoureux, tandis que Ramzy s'explique sur son entraînement de musculation en «   force pure   » destiné à lui donner la constitution athlétique dont il rêve depuis toujours. À l'intérieur, Stéphanie attend son oncle, le puissant PDG du groupe Lanceval, et ses fils, les actionnaires principaux, pour un conseil d'administration nocturne.

La tour est vide de ses occupants lorsqu'un commando, sous les ordres de Michel Vignault, investit l'immeuble, contrôlant tous les accès et prenant la famille Lanceval en otage dans le but de lui faire ouvrir son coffre-fort pour s'emparer des millions de francs qu'il contient. On apprend bientôt que Stéphanie est l'organisatrice du hold-up et qu'elle convoite la fortune de son oncle qu'elle hait et qui la méprise depuis toujours.

Témoins de cette folle entreprise, Ramzy est d'abord terrorisé et bien décidé à fuir mais Éric, qui n'a rien compris à toute la situation, veut à tout prix sauver Stéphanie, son amour éternel, qu'il croit en danger.

Par amitié et curieux de mettre à l'épreuve ses forces nouvelles mais surtout par un concours de circonstances, Ramzy va rester avec Éric pour l'aider à sauver Stéphanie contre son gré.

Après avoir neutralisé (involontairement) un des sbires chinois de Vignault, Eric découvre une main dans son sac et prend cette dernière pour un porte-bonheur chinois sans se douter que les terroristes en ont besoin pour ouvrir le coffre.

Protégés par une chance à toute épreuve et malgré gaffe sur gaffe, Éric et Ramzy finissent par détourner l'hélicoptère des malfaiteurs et déjouer le funeste complot de Stéphanie, les laissant hébétés mais bien vivants. Stéphanie partira seule avec l'argent qu'elle ne pourra pas utiliser à cause d'une ineptie des deux héros   : ils ont rajouté au marqueur un 1 devant chaque "500" sur tous les billets de 500 francs du hold-up, les rendant inutilisables.

• Le titre anglais du film pour sa sortie au Canada était   : Don't Die Too Hard!   ; clin d'œil au titre original du film Piège de cristal ( Die Hard ).
• Ce film est la première collaboration d'Éric et Ramzy dans des rôles principaux [17] .
• Dans le film, les héros ne sont pas nommés. À un moment donné, Ramzy, en faisant référence à Éric, l'appelle «   l'autre   ». Par la suite, ils prennent chacun un pseudonyme   : Éric devient Peter MacCallaway, l’idole culturiste de Ramzy. Quant à lui, après quelques atermoiements (François, Francis), il finit par se présenter comme Francis Huster [18] .
• Il s’agit du dernier rôle au cinéma pour Michel Puterflam .

En 2016 , Éric et Ramzy reviennent dans une préquelle , La Tour de contrôle infernale , réalisée par Éric Judor lui-même, qui ne rencontre pas le succès du premier volet, entretemps devenu un «   film culte   ».

Deux laveurs de carreaux de la tour Montparnasse assistent à une prise d’otage. Dans un élan de courage, le laveur joué par Éric Judor décide de partir à la rescousse de son amour Marie-Joëlle (Marina Foïs) avec l’aide de son ami laveur de carreaux joué par Ramzi. Dans leurs bêtises, les deux laveurs de carreaux vont malgré eux neutraliser les malfaiteurs.

Véritable parodie de Piège de cristal , La Tour Montparnasse infernale est le premier film du duo Éric et Ramzy dans des rôles principaux. Véritable succès à sa sortie en salles avec deux millions d’entrées, le financement du film ne fut pas simple comme l’explique Ramzy sur le plateau de BFMTV : “Quand on lit nos scénarios, ils sont très décevants et celui de La Tour Montparnasse infernale n’était pas forcément très drôle à lire. Il fallait voir l’esprit ! “

Même si l’action se déroule quasi exclusivement dans la tour Montparnasse, le tournage lui fut différent car il se déroula principalement en studio dans une reconstitution du toit et de trois étages. Le véritable édifice fut utilisé uniquement pour les plans extérieurs.

Les laveurs de carreaux joués par Éric et Ramzy se retrouvent bloqués au 52 e étage de la tour Montparnasse.

La tour Montparnasse est le plus haut gratte-ciel de Paris.

Avec sa hauteur de 209 mètres, la tour Montparnasse était la plus haute tour de France, jusqu’à l’achèvement en 2011 de la tour First dans le quartier de la Défense à Courbevoie.

L’idée de construire la tour commence à germer à la fin des années 1950. C’est en 1968 qu’André Malraux donne son feu vert et accorde un permis de construire. 4 ans seront nécessaires à sa construction. C’est en 1973 que la tour Montparnasse s’inaugure, permettant aux visiteurs de la tour de profiter d’une vue 360 degrés sur la ville de Paris et ses environs.

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

Moscow Metro 2019

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

. There are over 220 stations and 15 lines in the Moscow Metro. It is open from 6 am to 1 am. Trains come very frequently: during the rush hour you won't wait for more than 90 seconds! Distances between stations are quite long – 1,5 to 2 or even 3 kilometers. Metro runs inside the city borders only. To get to the airport you will need to take an onground train - Aeroexpress.

RATES AND TICKETS

Paper ticket A fee is fixed and does not depend on how far you go. There are tickets for a number of trips: 1, 2 or 60 trips; or for a number of days: 1, 3 days or a month. Your trips are recorded on a paper ticket. Ifyou buy a ticket for several trips you can share it with your traveling partner passing it from one to the other at the turnstile.

On every station there is cashier and machines (you can switch it to English). Cards and cash are accepted. 1 trip - 55 RUB 2 trips - 110 RUB

Tickets for 60 trips and day passes are available only at the cashier's.

60 rides - 1900 RUB

1 day - 230 RUB 3 days - 438 RUB 30 days - 2170 RUB.

The cheapest way to travel is buying Troyka card . It is a plastic card you can top up for any amount at the machine or at the ticket office. With it every trip costs 38 RUB in the metro and 21 RUB in a bus. You can get the card in any ticket office. Be prepared to leave a deposit of 50 RUB. You can get it back returning the card to the cashier.

SamsungPay, ApplePay and PayPass cards.

One turnstile at every station accept PayPass and payments with phones. It has a sticker with the logos and located next to the security's cabin.

GETTING ORIENTED

At the platfrom you will see one of these signs.

It indicates the line you are at now (line 6), shows the direction train run and the final stations. Numbers below there are of those lines you can change from this line.

In trains, stations are announced in Russian and English. In newer trains there are also visual indication of there you are on the line.

To change lines look for these signs. This one shows the way to line 2.

There are also signs on the platfrom. They will help you to havigate yourself. (To the lines 3 and 5 in this case).
