Coco Beach  is located at the mouth of the Mandovi river. The beach is often regarded as an gateway between Candolim and Nerul. The view from the river will grant your a pretty line up of colourful fishing boats and Palm trees along the coast.

The beach though little dirty compared to other beaches is popular for water sports and boating. A boat trip along Coco Beach is highly recommended as the Mandovi River in these parts is home to plenty of  wild dolphins.

4. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Goa

Named after India’s best-known ornithologist, the  Salim Ali Bird sanctuary  on Chorao Island is home to some to some of beautiful migratory birds. It was created by the Goa government in 1988 to protect the birdlife and the mangroves. The palace was defended by 55 canons and a moat. Since the time of Goa’s liberation in 1961, the building served as the home of the Goan State Legislature or Assembly and was known as the Secretariat.

Originating from 30 springs in the Western Ghats, the river runs for 52 kilometers in Goa and 77 kilometers in the neighboring state of Karnataka and finally meets the Arabian Sea near Panjim. River cruises on the Mandovi start from the Panaji Jetty and the Santa Monica Boat Jetty. Apart from the scenery, you can also see the Adil Shah Palace from the river. This was the first palace built in Goa. It was later captured by the Portuguese.

• San Jacinto Island – Located in the estuary of the Zuary River. Most of the island is covered with forests. There are a few old houses, a beautiful old church and an abandoned lighthouse in the south-western coast. You can reach this green forested heaven in your private yacht. • Chorao Island – An hour’s journey in your private yacht from Panaji Jetty will take you to this island. It houses the beautiful Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. • Bat Island – Also called Pequeno Island, this is off the coast of Vasco da Gama. There is a small rocky beach and a stretch of green here. Bat Island is a good destination to reach by a speed boat or private yacht. The water around the island is good for snorkeling. You can see parrot fish, angel fish, squirrel fish, butterfly fish, groupers, snappers, trigger fish, lobsters, hawksbill turtle, sea cucumbers and sea urchins. There are also hundreds of colorful shoals.
• Grand Island – Far out into the Arabian Sea, this is a very scenic island. It’s at least a half-day trip on your private yacht. You can do fishing here. You can also do scuba diving and snorkeling. Sunset Cruise on Mandovi River

The river Mandovi flowing into the Arabian Sea is the pride of Goa. This fresh water body is a beautiful creation that adds much beauty to the capital city of Panjim and the areas of Betim and Verem on its other side. Originating from a cluster of 30 springs in the Western Ghats, River Mandovi flows for a total of 77 kilometres before meeting the Arabian Sea. This river is also known for the beautiful Mandovi Bridges connecting Panjim to Porvorim.

A spectacular view is the new third bridge known as Atal Sethu, which you will see well illuminated at night.  Panjim city looks incredibly amazing from the cruise. We were picked up on a large and crowded bus and stood for about an hour before boarding the boat. After waiting another hour to leave and wondering if we were in the right place as no one spoke English, we quickly went to another island (not grande island) and were on a boat of mostly scuba divers. While they scuba dived, we were told we had an hour in the water and were given snorkeling equipment. My snorkeling equipment was broken, and the area we were in had no visibility so we were unable to see anything for the few minutes we attempted to snorkel. After giving up and floating for an hour we hopped back on the boat to sit for another 2-3 hours while more and more scuba divers got dropped off. Rather than being served a BBQ lunch on a beach as indicated, we were given a plate of chicken (mostly bone) and rice and a beer. Not long after we set off hot samossa's were given out very nice and bottled water to during the journey we were shown where the rich diamond seller was living and then onto the only prison in Goa. Dropped of the BBQ food and supplies at an beach near the prison then off to snorkelling near the Grand Island. Snorkelling here was ok very limited visibility but there were some nice colourful fish near the shallows and rocks Then back to the boat for a spot of fishing few bites but no fish for me a few aboard caught fish . Then we made our way over to hansa beach for our BBQ enroute we managed to see a couple of dolphins. The BBQ was very nice also had a game of volley ball here and more swimming. Return journey was fun wind had picked up making the sea choppy and the boat rocked around and sea spray kept soaking people (funny) more beers were passed around and there were also soft drinks available. We had hired Grand I10- this was brand new car provided by them . though its a monsoon season due which water sports are closed in Goa, these guys had arranged for us Monsoon water sports in Malwan during during rainy season which includes. boat ride, Banana ride, Ringo ride, jetskii & Parasailing. the package had included transfer by coach and snack which was also good. Apart from this, there is another wildlife sanctuary named Bhagwan Mahavir near the Goa-Karnataka border. There is only one month in the whole year when you do not feel tired after visiting such places as you do not feel the heat and even nature is nailed to the sixteen arts because of the rain. In addition to these two sanctuaries there is a Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary which is very popular to visit in June and July. Not only tourists but also school children come to see. Near these areas you will find Deer Park, Mini Zoo and many beautiful natural trails which will give you the perfect experience of hiking. For adventurous individuals, safari in the dense tropical forests is one of the classic adventures.

Continuity of Celebrations and Festivals: The greatest feature of any place is its own culture. And the easiest and interesting way to learn about the culture of the place is the festivals there. So many festivals take place here during this period of time but the most popular one is Sao Joao which is celebrated at the end of June. So if you attend this festival during the monsoon season, you will see a wonderful view. In which you’ll see men jumping into a local flowing well to get some kind of Fanny alcohol. Locals celebrating this festival will be seen wearing crowns of leaves and fruits on their heads with drinks in their hands. This festival held a paramount importance in Christianity. Immediately after this celebration, the festival of St. Peter is celebrated on 29th June. A big feast is held after the church service is over. Apart from this there is another well known festival which is known as Bonderam Flag Festival. This is especially celebrated near Panjim. This festival includes a colorful parade with flags of various colors tagged with the city’s famous local band. Not only this, popular festival like Ganesh Chaturthi is also celebrated here in the month of August.

Spice Plantations: This is the precious jewel of Goa which you can chase when you are not across the beach. One of the most famous spice gardens in Goa is the Savoi Plantation which is located 40 km away from Calangute in Ponda. To reach there you can take a short drive through lush valleys and tropical forests which will also be a pleasant experience. There you will find a cashew distillery to visit. Soon after the tour is over you can enjoy the popular Goan Saraswat Bhojan which is a kind of traditional meal. It will be served at the Sadafuli Restaurant in the plantation itself. For all these reasons the spice plantation has become one of the most popular places to see in Goa in June.

The Dudhsagar Falls: Anyone who has a question in mind as to what can be worth seeing in Goa other than the beach gets the answer after seeing this waterfall. This eye-catching waterfall seems to come alive in the rainy season. This Dudhsagar water fall is located near Panaji and Madgaon.

Anjuna & Vagator: Both of these beaches, contrary to their basic nature, have a sense of hospitality even during the monsoons. While sitting on rocky Anjuna and having a look at sea water which is mixing along with the rain drops is a magnificent experience.
