NEXT ARTICLE Pick LFC Legends team for Bayern clash - and raise LFC Foundation funds
Lfc world kicks off in jakarta in style.
The latest LFC World event kicked off in Indonesia on Thursday to much fanfare as Liverpool supporters and over 100 local journalists attended the launch event, presented by Standard Chartered.
Fans descended upon the Taman Anggrek Mall in Jakarta, where they were welcomed by Reds legends Patrik Berger, Roy Evans, Gary McAllister and Jason McAteer – as well as Mighty Red.
The quartet staged an entertaining Q&A session before local Kopites had the opportunity to sample some of the exhibitions on offer at the roadshow.
LFCTV GO: Roy Evans on the legends' welcome in Jakarta
“It’s like a mini-Anfield a long way from Anfield,” Evans said. “It was a really nice event and I really enjoyed it.
“I was amazed to hear about the number of fans we have out here in Indonesia and we’re all looking forward to meeting them over the next few days.”
Those in attendance over the new three days have the chance to win prizes and receive giveaways at booths hosted by presenting partner Standard Chartered and other event partners including Western Union, Joie, Konami and Malaysia Airlines, and buy LFC items from our pop-up retail store.
Fans are invited to a free-to-attend viewing party on Saturday at Taman Anggrek Mall to watch Liverpool’s mouth-watering clash with Manchester United – an event that will include on-stage activity with the legends before kick-off.

After five years, Liverpool are heading back to Asia for a pre-season tour, with two dates now confirmed for the club’s 2022-23 pre-season including a match against Manchester United in Bangkok on Tuesday, July 12th, and a match against Crystal Palace in Singapore on the 15th.
At least another date or two in the region is likely to be announced, and if the club’s pre-season plans follow the pattern of other years there will likely be a few dates in Europe both before and after their tour.
There also seems the possibility that there could be more than one game played in Singapore given the game against Palace is being billed as part of a Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022. Alternately it could simply be a one-off match with a sponsor attached to it.
“Pre-season is a vital time of year for our players,” read a statement from commercial director Ben Latty. “It’s hugely important preparation for the season ahead and it’s also a perfect opportunity to meet with our fans around the world.
“We can’t wait to get back to Singapore once again, we’ve received a tremendous welcome there in the past, and are excited to be taking part in the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022.”
A return to Singapore for the Reds will indeed be exciting news for the many fans of the club there. Whether there’s any particular excitement in it also being a chance for the Reds to lift the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022 we’ll leave up to readers.

Liverpool defeat Indonesia XI to start pre-season tour on positive note
Liverpool got their pre-season tour off to a good start as goals from Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling handed them a comfortable 2-0 win over an Indonesia XI in Jakarta, as Steven Gerrard made his return after a shoulder operation.
Coutinho got the Reds going with a 10th-minute opener and Sterling sealed the win two minutes from time as Brendan Rodgers' men prepared to go to Australia to face Melbourne Victory on Wednesday.
They will then round off their tour with a game in Thailand on 28 July before beginning their Barclays Premier League campaign against Stoke on 17 August.
Coutinho opened the scoring as he attempted to find new signing Luis Alberto but the ball ended up back at his feet, allowing the Brazilian to slot home underneath goalkeeper Kurnia Meiga.
Stewart Downing then brought a save out of the stopper before Alberto hit the post.
And he was not to be the only newcomer to trouble the woodwork as Iago Aspas hit the bar before the break.
Simon Mignolet did well to save a long-range effort from Sergio Van Dijk but the Reds should have gone two up as Coutinho put a great chance over the bar.
Multiple substitutions came in the last half-hour and Sterling hit the bar twice soon after being introduced.
But he was not to be denied in the 88th minute as he side-footed into an empty net after some good work from Oussama Assaidi and Jordon Ibe.
Gerrard told the club's website: "My shoulder felt fantastic, so it was nice to get the first 45 minutes under my belt and hopefully I'll get slightly more time in Australia.
"It's been feeling fine now for a few weeks in training, there have been absolutely no problems. The surgeon gave me the go-ahead to play tonight and the manager was sensible in giving me 45 minutes. I'm really happy with how I feel.
"It was a difficult game. There's no air out there to breathe and recover after long runs and the training has been very tough, so the legs are heavy. But we won the game and we got the fitness in.
"At the moment, it's all about the fitness and getting the physical condition back. The results are not really too important, but we're happy with the win and we move on to the next game. Hopefully we'll feel better physically."

Liverpool pre-season 2024 plan outlined as two USA friendly dates and locations confirmed
Liverpool will be returning to the US this summer. The Reds will do so without Jürgen Klopp, of course, but are heading back to America for the first time since 2019.

Liverpool has confirmed that it will be returning to the US this summer as part of its pre-season plans. The Reds, who will have a new head coach at the end of the season after Jürgen Klopp's departure, will be playing matches against Manchester United and Arsenal.
The last time that Liverpool headed Stateside was the summer of 2019, just after the Reds had become European champions for the sixth time. Since then, a combination of the Covid pandemic and then commercial opportunities in Asia have meant that they have not gone back until now.
In 2019, Liverpool played against Borussia Dortmund , Sevilla and Sporting CP in New York, Boston and Indiana. The Reds played on the west coast of the US during Klopp's first summer in charge back in 2016 with friendly fixtures against Chelsea , AC Milan and AS Roma.

This time, Liverpool will play Arsenal on July 31 in Philadelphia and then Manchester United in South Carolina on August 3, meaning the Reds are staying on the east coast of the US. The new manager will also be able to use the time to continue preparations for the new season on the training field.
"We are proud to announce our highly anticipated return to the USA providing a great environment for the squad to prepare for the season ahead," Ben Latty, the club's commercial director, said via the club's official website . "Pre-season tours always present exceptional opportunities for our supporters, the team and our official partners to engage in memorable experiences within a key focus market for the club."
The 2024/25 season in the Premier League will kick off on the weekend of August 17 and 18. The fixture list is usually published a few weeks after the prior campaign has come to a close. Liverpool will hope to begin life under a new head coach as league champion, with the Reds currently top of the pile with another 12 fixtures left to play.
Liverpool.com says: A return to the US will be big news for fans in America after so long without the chance to see the Reds on home soil. It will be a very different summer for Liverpool, of course, without Klopp in charge. There is also the impact of the European Championship in Germany to consider.
That tournament takes place from mid-June to mid-July so there is a good chance that a number of players involved in that will not be traveling to the US. They might need an extended break in what looks set to be another packed close season in which the majority of stars get very little in the way of a proper rest.
