Birth & Death Registration

India's first and world's fourth- Night Safari project to be developed on 250 acres of land located adjoining to Gautam Budh university (GBU) campus right along the Yamuna Expressway.

Ernst & Young has been selected as the Financial Transaction Advisor and will shortly finalize the Business Plan for the Night Safari. EOI for the project was issued on 26th September 2014 and a workshop for interested applicants was held on 7th November 2014.

Night Safari

In August 2013, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet has given the go ahead for the proposal to build the Night Safari on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The Greater Noida Authority is on the way to select an international standard consultant, who will supervise and monitor the country's only Night Safari project's construction. This selection process is expected to be completed in December 2013 and work on the site is expected to begin by April 2014.

The Night Safari is expected to be opened to public by 2017-18.

The project will create environment awareness and offer recreation to residents, besides boosting tourism in Greater Noida. It will be developed on the lines of open zoological gardens in China and Singapore. Unlike traditional nocturnal houses, which reverse the day-night cycle of animals so they will be active by day, the Night Safari will be an entire open-air zoo set in a humid tropical forest that is only open at night. The naturalistic enclosures simulate the animals’ native habitat. Animals would be separated from visitors with natural barriers, rather than caged, similar to the Singapore Zoo’s open concept. A train would course through the project site to take visitors to watch animals housed in the open wilderness in habitats recreated to match their original habitats. Proper arrangement will be made to observe the animals in the night with animal-watching hours proposed to be from 7pm to midnight.

The nocturnal park will be home to a total of 71 species of local and exotic animals.

Greater Noida authority scraps night safari project, offers land for film city

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath (Photo | PTI)

LUCKNOW: The Greater Noida Authority (GNA) has proposed to develop the ambitious ‎film city project announced by the CM Yogi Adityanath on the land which was earlier touted to be developed as India’s first Night Safari.

The Night Safari project was scrapped by the Greater Noida Authority on Sunday.

According to Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Home, Awanish Awasthi, CM Yogi would be discussing the ‘Film City’ project with a number of well-known actors, directors, singers, and others virtually on Tuesday evening.

The Greater Noida Authority is set to appraise the UP government about the availability of 550 acres land for this purpose. The authority is likely to urge the state authorities to give necessary approvals so that work on the could be initiated at the earliest.

On scrapping of the Night Safari project, the senior officials of the Greater Noida Authority claimed that it was not viable due to a number of environmental issues involved.

The Night Safari project, conceptualised in the previous regime, had to be developed by 2017. Between 2012 and 2017, the UP government completed only the paperwork for it, but could not start work on the ground.

“We have now decided to develop a Film City on 550 acres of land earlier earmarked for the Night Safari. We have prepared a proposal to be sent to the government for necessary approvals,” said Narendra Bhooshan, chief executive officer of the Greater Noida Authority. Moreover, there seems to be a race among various development authorities in the NCR to lap the ambitious project.

If the sources are to be believed, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) chief executive officer Arun Vir Singh has also written to the UP government about 500 acres land which is ready and earmarked for a Film City in Sector 21 located along the 165-km Yamuna Expressway.

The UP CM had announced on Friday to set up “country’s biggest and most impressive film city” either in Noida, Greater Noida, or Yamuna Expressway to create opportunities in the state. The CM had directed the respective authorities to hunt a land for the project at the earliest.

As per the sources in the Greater Noida Authority, the officials were prompted to offer ready land for the Film City because neighbouring Noida hardly had land left to be allotted for a huge project and Yamuna Expressway was not yet developed enough to house such a facility.

However, YEIDA has been making efforts to set up a Film City for quite some time but its efforts had not yielded any results so far.

Night safari at G. Noida

The sc cleared the decks for india’s first night safari tourism project. a bench headed by chief justice k g balakrishnan permitted the greater noida authority to go ahead with the project, reports bhadra sinha..

The Supreme Court on Friday cleared the decks for India’s first night safari tourism project. A bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan permitted the Greater Noida Authority to go ahead with the project in accordance with the conditions prescribed by the Central Zoo Authority (CZA).

HT Image

Zoological gardens like the night safari have already been established in Asian nations like Singapore and China and are attractive tourist spots.

Advocate Ravindra Kumar for the Greater Noida Authority apprised the bench about CZA’s clearance, which was given in principle on August 9, 2008. CZA’s approval after came after it surveyed the 100-hectare land in Greater Noida. It, however, said the approval was subject to the SC’s nod.

The Greater Noida Authority approached SC in compliance of an eight-year-old order in which it had banned setting up of zoos without the SC and CZA’s permission.

The night safari in Greater Noida would be developed on the lines of the Singapore night safari. The project will cost over $21 million.

India To Get Its First Night Safari in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh And It Is Indeed An Elaborate Affair!

Photo of Sinchita Sinha

Isn’t it exciting that you would no longer have to visit other countries to enjoy a night safari and will just have to concentrate on planning the trip within India!!!

Recently on 16th August 2022 (Tuesday), in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) cabinet meeting, presided by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the proposal to set up the night safari and shift the current Lucknow Zoo, was approved.

Necessary permissions pertaining to the rules and guidelines of the International Advisory and Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi would soon be procured along with preparation of the master plan, master layout and selection of the agency that is going to execute the plan.

Photo of India To Get Its First Night Safari in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh And It Is Indeed An Elaborate Affair! by Sinchita Sinha

The proposal was initially put forth in 2012 and finally passed by the UP cabinet in August 2013 for the night safari project to be developed in Greater Noida area, near Gautam Budh University (GBU) campus. Unfortunately, although the project was conceptualized in 2012, it was supposed to be developed by 2017, but the UP government was only successful in getting the paperwork completed between 2012 and 2017. As a result, the Night Safari Project was scrapped by Greater Noida Authority to accommodate a “Film City” project on 550 acres of land that was earmarked for Night Safari Project.

Current Update

The Night Safari Project would be developed on the lines of how Singapore had set up its Night Safari. A bio-diversity park and world-class night safari would be established in the Kukrail Forest Area in Lucknow district. Under this scheme, a zoological park would be arranged in around 150 acres of open accessible unused forest land and the designated night safari in 350 acres without causing any disturbance to the eastern and western forest blocks of 2,027 hectares. And the good news is that the new zoological garden would be replacing the existing one in Lucknow – confirmed by Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh.

About The Safari And Zoological Park

With 13 day-safaris present across the country, this will be the First Night Safari in India that will be developed on the tunes of world’s first night safari at Singapore. At present the century-old Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden in Lucknow which is popularly known as Lucknow Zoo, is situated in a densely populated area called Narhi that is 12kms away from Kukrail Forest area which will eventually be shifted to Kukrail forest area. The intention behind moving the zoo from Narhi to Kukrail forest is to decongest the overcrowding of Narhi area because of the presence of a zoo.

75 acres in Kukrail would be dedicated to leopard and tiger each and 60 acres for wild bear and the wild animals would be kept in cattle grid under the starry sky, instead of cages with!! An open-air nocturnal zoo that would be accessible only in the night! But no need to get disappointed for tourists visiting during daytime – there would a theme park that would keep you entertained and occupied.

For the night safari and the zoo project, the open and unused area of Kukrail range is going to be utilized to ensure no impact on the existing flora and fauna. There are talks of channelizing the Kukrail river flowing through the forest and developing it into an attractive river front.

Activities That Will Be Offered At The Safari

Besides the availability of both train and jeep with local guides that will be provided for night safari, lots of activities would be offered to the tourist visiting the zoological garden. Construction of four-lane roads are on the agenda to make it convenient for the visitors to reach Kukrail Night safari.

Few of the adventure activities that are going to be offered at the forest area are listed below:

• Mountain bike track

• Wall climbing

• Canopy walk

• Mountaineering

• Tree-top restaurant

• Nature trail

• Food court

Reason For Setting Up The Night Safari and Shifting The Zoo

The development of the night safari project is primarily to boost eco-tourism in this area and also to create job opportunities for the local community. And as mentioned above the goal behind moving the zoo is to declutter the area of Narhi.

The prospect of the First Night Safari in India is thrilling!! With travel industry finally opening up after a lull of two years, its time to bring in state government's A-game to attract more tourists offering them unique experiences that were otherwise provided outside India. Now, it’s no more flying abroad but a matter of time until the Night Safari opens in Lucknow.

I can’t keep calm, can you?

Russia Maps Show 25% of Moscow Without Power Amid Winter Freeze 'Emergency'

R ussian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the nationalization of an ammunition plant in Moscow after a mechanical failure caused tens of thousands of Muscovites to lose heat and water amid freezing temperatures beginning last week.

On January 4, a heating main burst at the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant in the town of Podolsk, which is around 30 miles south of central Moscow. Since then, tens of thousands of Russians are reported to have no heating in their homes in the Moscow region amid subzero temperatures.

Affected areas include the cities of Khimki, Balashikha, Lobnya, Lyubertsy, Podolsk, Chekhov, Naro-Fominsk, and Podolsk, a map published by a Russian Telegram channel and shared on other social media sites shows.

Other Russian media outlets reported that in Moscow, residents of Balashikha, Elektrostal, Solnechnogorsk, Dmitrov, Domodedovo, Troitsk, Taldom, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Krasnogorsk, Pushkino, Ramenskoye, Voskresensk, Losino-Petrovsky, and Selyatino are also without power.

That means that in total, more than a quarter of Moscow's cities have been hit with power outages and a lack of heating.

Newsweek has contacted Russia's Foreign Ministry for comment via email.

Many residents have taken to publishing video appeals on social media to complain about their freezing conditions. In one clip, people living in Moscow say that they are left with no choice but to warm their homes with gas stoves, heaters, and "whatever else we can find." Others said they are lighting fires in the streets to keep warm.

Andrei Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow region, announced on Tuesday that Putin ordered the ammunition plant to be nationalized because two of its owners have been "located abroad." He didn't name the individuals.

"We received the right to take control of this boiler house within the framework of an emergency," Vorobiev said, adding that the plant's boiler room was managed "very poorly" and there was "virtually no qualified competent personnel."

Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant not meeting safety requirements.

On Tuesday, the committee said that because of the incident, the deputy head of Podolsk's administration, the head of the plant's boiler house, and the general director of the ammunition plant had been detained.
