Wide Gear Range, Large wheels and tires, upright seatting posision for comfort and price.

Upright seating causes more wind drag.

I have only recently started riding. The Navigator 2.0 I believe is the same model as the 200 just a year newer. I love this bike! It was recommended by the owner of Bikes and Moore in Hopkinsville Ky. It does every thing I want and more. In low gear you have to pedal almost vigorously to keep from falling over. In high gear on level surface I can easily pedal 16mph. On my rides of between 15 and 20 miles I avg around 13mph. The bike is strong when I started riding I weighted over 300lb “yes I am a pretty big guy” the bike is comfortable, easy to ride and when riding with friends who ride road bikes I can, with some effort keep up. The price is right for a starter bike and no problems yet.

Similar Products Used:

Sturdy, stable, good for casual and fitness riding, can go on- and limited off-road (flat packed dirt), upright riding position, good shock absorption

Limited speed performance.

I haven't been riding for over ten years and decided to get back into biking for fitness and weight loss. I was looking for an easy-riding bike that could get my heart rate up when I use a heart monitor. After looking, I picked this bike out at my local bike store because of the upright riding position, front and rear shock absorption and tires able to go on pavement as well as off-road. I have used the bike for 6 months, riding about 20 - 40 miles per week, and really love it. This bike is not a speedster by any means, maxes out for me at about 10 mph, but gets my heart rate up to 65-80% of max and I've lost 10 lbs. It is sturdy, stable on packed dirt trails and shifting is more than adequate. After putting a rear rack on with bag, I have taken my camera along and the upright riding position lets me scan to pick out places to take photos of the scenery. I really think that I have gotten my money's worth out of this one. Only problem I have had is that it needed a rear derailleur adjustment after the first month when I brought it in for the check up. Great way to get back into biking.

We Got New Trek Bikes

' src=

I’ve been wanting to buy a nice set of bikes for quite awhile.

For the past couple of months we would window shop in the bike stores around our neck of the woods and quietly move on. Silke knew I was getting ahead of myself when I came home with a t-shirt from Jake’s Bikes in Alexandria, MN (hint, hint). We were getting ready to invest a chunk of money in bicycles for the both of us. No more cheap Walmart bikes for us.

We were looking for hybrid bicycles that were easy to ride and didn’t make our butts hurt after sitting on for 2 minutes. The Trek Navigator 2.0 is the mid model in Trek’s line of bikes designed for the casual biker like us looking to hit the bike path with maximum comfort. Perfect!

Nicks new Trek Bike

We finally made the plunge this spring! We’ll be traveling in style on our brand spanking new Trek Bikes . We are both very excited!

The Navigator bike series is designed to give you the most upright and solid ride possible with features such as raised handlebar height for a more stable and comfortable sitting position.  Looking out the window at all the snow only makes it harder to wait for warmer weather to come. We can’t wait to takes our bikes on the trails around town.

6 month Update:

This particular model of bike, the Trek Navigator 2.0, is a hybrid between a street bike and a cross-country bike. We haven’t been doing much off-road riding, since we have had Nick’s 8 year old son living with us all summer, but it’s nice to not feel restricted to where we can ride, if we wanted to.

Trek Bike Review

The Trek Navigator 2.0 bikes ride very smooth on fairly fat tires and the larger than usual seats make them very comfortable for longer outings and bike tours. We are very lucky to have a beautiful bike trail close to home and have been taking advantage of it frequently. So far we have had no issues with our bikes at all.

We did take it back to Jake’s Bikes in Alexandria MN for a free maintenance check up. All was well, but Jake did adjust Nick’s seat a little bit. He has long legs and didn’t have it set for the proper height. Not a big deal.

2 Year Update:

We now had our Trek Navigator 2.0 bikes for about 2 1/2 years and we both still enjoy riding them. We have moved to a different state, but as luck has it, we are still living very close to a beautiful bike path. Nick and I try to take the bikes out at least once a week. We are casual riders at best and still really haven’t taken our Trek bikes on a true off road adventure, probably never will.

The threads on the tires are starting to get a little worn, but everything else is in tip top shape. We haven’t had to make any adjustments to the frame, brakes, seat or handle bars. Everything still feels very tight and secure.

Trek Bike Review

We both like the upright position and cushiness of the over-sized seat. Being in our mid forty’s, it’s important to get regular exercise and we enjoy the feeling of accomplishment you get after a lengthy bike ride. It’s nice not to feel any pain in your backside after you do so.

The Trek Navigator 2.0 bike is a little on the heavy side. If you are using it on bike paths, running errands or to get a some exercise while riding around the block, we find these bikes will meet your needs perfectly. They might not be the best choice for riding cross country unless you are in shape and have the strength to keep the bike upright.

We recently purchased an upright bike stand for our matching Trek bikes. This makes a great gift idea for any bike enthusiasts! Read our Stoneman Sports Sparehand Double Bike Rack review

2022 Trek Bike Update:

We don’t have the double bike rack any longer. It worked fine while we stored our bikes on the back porch. When we decided to move, we sold it on Craigslist for less than half of what we paid for. It was still in perfect condition.

11+ years later and we still love our Trek Navigator 2.0 bikes!

We try to go on a bike ride about once a week and I must say, our Trek bikes held up really well. Of course, we only ride our bikes on a tared trail and store them in the garage, but still, we have not had any issues with either one of them. After the initial 6 months check up we never brought them back to the bike shop.

The leather seats and handle bars look almost new, even after all this time. The gear switches are in very good condition and so is the chain and the tires. After we first purchased the bikes I had a little buyers remorse, it was a lot of money to spend on fitness equipment. Now I’m glad we did it. I will whole heartedly recommend Trek bikes as I am very impressed with our Trek Navigator 2.0 bicycles!

I also own a Trek bike, but I got mine from Morpheus Bikes. Regardless of where we got our bikes, I just think it’s funny that we use it in doing the same things – running errands and for exercising.

Nick, Glad to help. Thanks for the business. It’s all about the Experience here at Jake’s Bikes.

Product update. These bikes are still going strong. They have stood the test of time and they have had no major issues.

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3

National origin:- Soviet Union Role:- Fighter Interceptor Manufacturer:- Mikoyan-Gurevich Designer:- First flight:- 29th October 1940 Introduction:- 1941 Status:- Retired 1945 Produced:- 1940-1941 Number built:- 3,422 Primary users:- Soviet Air Forces (VVS); Soviet Air Defence Forces (PVO); Soviet Naval Aviation Developed from:- Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-1 Variants:- Mikoyan-Gurevich I-211 Operational history MiG-3s were delivered to frontline fighter regiments beginning in the spring of 1941 and were a handful for pilots accustomed to the lower-performance and docile Polikarpov I-152 and I-153 biplanes and the Polikarpov I-16 monoplane. It remained tricky and demanding to fly even after the extensive improvements made over the MiG-1. Many fighter regiments had not kept pace in training pilots to handle the MiG and the rapid pace of deliveries resulted in many units having more MiGs than trained pilots during the German invasion. By 1 June 1941, 1,029 MIG-3s were on strength, but there were only 494 trained pilots. In contrast to the untrained pilots of the 31st Fighter Regiment, those of the 4th Fighter Regiment were able to claim three German high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft shot down before war broke out in June 1941. However high-altitude combat of this sort was to prove to be uncommon on the Eastern Front where most air-to-air engagements were at altitudes well below 5,000 metres (16,000 ft). At these altitudes the MiG-3 was outclassed by the Bf 109 in all respects, and even by other new Soviet fighters such as the Yakovlev Yak-1. Furthermore, the shortage of ground-attack aircraft in 1941 forced it into that role as well, for which it was totally unsuited. Pilot Alexander E. Shvarev recalled: "The Mig was perfect at altitudes of 4,000 m and above. But at lower altitudes it was, as they say, 'a cow'. That was the first weakness. The second was its armament: weapons failure dogged this aircraft. The third weakness was its gunsights, which were inaccurate: that's why we closed in as much as we could and fired point blank." On 22 June 1941, most MiG-3s and MiG-1s were in the border military districts of the Soviet Union. The Leningrad Military District had 164, 135 were in the Baltic Military District, 233 in the Western Special Military District, 190 in the Kiev Military District and 195 in the Odessa Military District for a total of 917 on hand, of which only 81 were non-operational. An additional 64 MiGs were assigned to Naval Aviation, 38 in the Air Force of the Baltic Fleet and 26 in the Air Force of the Black Sea Fleet. The 4th and 55th Fighter Regiments had most of the MiG-3s assigned to the Odessa Military District and their experiences on the first day of the war may be taken as typical. The 4th, an experienced unit, shot down a Romanian Bristol Blenheim reconnaissance bomber, confirmed by postwar research, and lost one aircraft which crashed into an obstacle on takeoff. The 55th was much less experienced with the MiG-3 and claimed three aircraft shot down, although recent research confirms only one German Henschel Hs 126 was 40% damaged, and suffered three pilots killed and nine aircraft lost. The most unusual case was the pair of MiG-3s dispatched from the 55th on a reconnaissance mission to PloieÅŸti that failed to properly calculate their fuel consumption and both were forced to land when they ran out of fuel. Most of the MiG-3s assigned to the interior military districts were transferred to the PVO where their lack of performance at low altitudes was not so important. On 10 July 299 were assigned to the PVO, the bulk of them belonging to the 6th PVO Corps at Moscow, while only 293 remained with the VVS, and 60 with the Naval Air Forces, a total of only 652 despite deliveries of several hundred aircraft. By 1 October, on the eve of the German offensive towards Moscow codenamed Operation Typhoon, only 257 were assigned to VVS units, 209 to the PVO, and 46 to the Navy, a total of only 512, a decrease of 140 fighters since 10 July, despite deliveries of over a thousand aircraft in the intervening period. By 5 December, the start of the Soviet counter-offensive that drove the Germans back from the gates of Moscow, the Navy had 33 MiGs on hand, the VVS 210, and the PVO 309. This was a total of 552, an increase of only 40 aircraft from 1 October. Over the winter of 1941-42 the Soviets transferred all of the remaining MiG-3s to the Navy and PVO so that on 1 May 1942 none were left on strength with the VVS. By 1 May 1942, Naval Aviation had 37 MiGs on strength, while the PVO had 323 on hand on 10 May. By 1 June 1944, the Navy had transferred all its aircraft to the PVO, which reported only 17 on its own strength, and all of those were gone by 1 January 1945. Undoubtedly more remained in training units and the like, but none were assigned to combat units by then.

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

2 Comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Cities , Travel , Video

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.
