Do I need a Jeep for Arikok National Park?

You need a 4x4 to get around Arikok National Park . The easiest way to get to Conchi Natural Pool in Arikok National Park is by ATV. Many time, jeeps lifted high enough will do as well as an ATV. A car will not make it through the park or to the natural pool.

Arikok National Park covers 20% of the island and is a must-see for any nature lover. The park is home to Arikok's Natural Pool, a collection of rocky pools that are perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

What to Bring on Your Aruba ATV Tour

✅ Reef Safe Sunscreen! I suggest All Good Sunscreen , suggested by Save the Reef as a truly reef-safe sunscreen. Many "reef safe" sunscreens are not actually reef safe, so be mindful when searching for your reef safe sunscreen.

✅ Bathing suit! Most tours include snorkeling gear , but often they don't fit right or leak. I prefer to bring my own! A friend turned me on to Cressi's snorkeling gear a while ago. They have been my go-to gear ever since.

✅ Bathing suit! These ATV tours in Aruba have you jumping into the natural pools and caves! Bring your favorite bathing suit that you don't mind getting a little dusty!

✅ Breathable Sports Gator to keep the winds and dirt dust out of your face. This brand keeps my face warm during ski season and cool during hiking season! Whether you're riding ATVs in Punta Cana and Aruba or ziplining in Belize , this will come in handy.

✅ GoPro . Phones have great built-in cameras these days, but GoPro will change the game for adventurous activities like ATV riding. I recently invested in a GoPro 10 and it is so worth it!

✅ Water. Check to see if the tour you choose includes water, or if you need to bring it. Aruba is HOT. It's important to stay hydrated while you're in the sun all day.

When is the Best Time to Go on an Aruba ATV Tour?

The best time to head to Aruba is December through June. This is a normal Caribbean on-season. However, Aruba sits outside of the hurricane belt and on average, gets very little rainfall. You can even visit this Caribbean island in August , which is typically the rainiest season on many islands.

This is one of the reasons many people opt to live in Aruba vs other Caribbean islands. So, even in the off-season, you're likely to have great weather for an Aruba ATV tour!

What is rainy season in Aruba , though? Rainy season in the ABC islands - Aruba , Bonaire , and Curacao , runs from September to December . It's still the worst time for rain, but on average, these months still see less than 3 inches of rain.

Can you drive an ATV around Aruba?

Yes, you can drive an ATV around Aruba. These tours include guided and self-guided trips through the off-roading parks and popular spots around the island.

How much are ATV tours in Aruba?

Depending on what's included, these Aruba ATV tours average about $150 per person. Some include food and beverages, some are full day vs half day, and some include entry fees to certain parks.

Why Book an Aruba ATV Tour?

Aruba is an island that has something for everyone, and one of the best ways to see everything it has to offer is by booking an Aruba ATV tour. Not only will you get to explore the island in a unique way, but you'll also get to see some of its hidden gems that are off the beaten path, and you can only get to with a 4x4!

While Aruba is best known for its pristine beaches, there's so much more to see. The island is home to both a desert and a rainforest, and an ATV tour is the perfect way to see both.

You'll also get to experience the rugged beauty of Aruba's coastline and its many natural wonders. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to stop at some of the island's best lookout points and take in the stunning views.

So whether you're looking for an adventure, a fun day on your honeymoon , or just want to explore Aruba in a different way, an Aruba ATV

is the perfect way to do it.

Where to Stay in Aruba

How to Get Around Aruba

Aruba doesn't offer Uber services, but you have plenty of options to get around - other than by ATV, of course! - I'd suggest renting a car before you arrive, since it's often the easiest and most convenient way to get around, and gives you the ability to see everything the island has to offer on your own time.

Planning your trip: Should you rent a car in Aruba?

Many of these tours include hotel pickup to many of the major resorts in Oranjestad, so you may be able to get by relying on taxis. The taxi rates in Aruba are set per car, not per person, by the government, so it's easy to plan to budget for taxi expenses if you know your pickup and drop-off destination.

What should you avoid in Aruba?

From avoiding common tourist mistakes to safety tips that can make or break your trip, there are several things to avoid in Aruba .

  • Overpacking, packing nice clothes and accessories
  • Wandering around at night (especially alone)
  • Visiting Arikok National Park without an off-road vehicle
  • Seasickness

  • Includes: Bandana, bottles of water, snacks, certified tour guide

This tour is an absolute blast, and one that’s perfect for adrenaline junkies. The UTV Adventure Morning Tour includes everything you need for a fun morning.

You’ll also get to see some of the biggest landmarks in the country, which is fun for those who love history and architecture. Thanks to the included hotel pickup and drop-off, you don’t have to worry about organizing transportation or leaving ahead of time.

Simply be ready in your hotel lobby (or cruise port) at 8 am, and your transportation will be waiting for you! After receiving a safety briefing and donning safety equipment, you’re all ready to go!

You’ll first see the Ayo Rock Formations, which were used by the earliest settles on the island (Arawak) to hear incoming thunderstorms. There are also plenty of petroglyphs which were used during religious performances.

Next, see the Aruba Natural Bridge, named as much because it’s naturally formed out coral limestone. It collapsed in 2006 due to Hurricane Katrina, though the remains are still interesting to see.

The Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins started in 1825 and operated for 10 years in order to dig gold form the nearby Ceru Plat Hills.

Your guide will tell you all about this place’s interesting history, before heading to the Alto Vista Chapel. Completed in 1952, it’s not that old, but is definitely interesting.

UTV & ATV Aruba's Secret Beach & Cave Pool Adventure

  • Departure: RockaBeach Tours, Bushiri 25, Oranjestad
  • Departure Time: Variety Available
  • Includes:  Water, hotel/port pickup and drop-off, snacks

Next, we have the UTV & ATV Aruba’s Secret Beach & Cave Pool Adventure Tour ! On this tour, you will be able to see many hidden gems that are only accessible with these types of vehicles! Lasting 4 hours long, it’s a great way to spend the afternoon before heading out to dinner!

With convenient hotel pickup and drop-off, you don’t have to deal with booking separate transportation. Meet with your guide, where you’ll get a safety brief, instructions on how to use the vehicles, and have time to practice before heading off on your tour.

Located at Bushiri Karting Speedway, this is the only Go-Kart track on all of Aruba and you’ll get to hone your skills here.

First, head to Blackstone Beach, which is known for its elegant black sand and rounded blackstone – quite a bit different from the rest of the white sand beaches on the island! Right next to it sits the 3 Sister Bridges – 3 arches creating bridges all connected in a triangle shape.

See the ruins of the Aruba Natural Bridge as you head to the Cave Pool and Bushiribana Goldmill Ruins, which are just 200 meters away from one another. The Pool has crystal-clear blue water, and you can see all the way to the white sand bottom! You’ll all take a ladder down, and have some time to swim around.

Listen to the history behind the Goldmill Ruins, as well as the processes they used to uncover the ore and gold found here. Next, you’ll see the California Lighthouse which is about 100 years old. From the top, you’ll be able to see incredible views of both ends of the island.

Then, stop at the Arashi Beach, which is known to be one of the most beautiful, pristine beaches in the world. Soft white sand coupled with calm blue waters make for an excellent place to relax and take some photos.

3. ATV Off-Road Tour and Cave Pool Snorkeling

ATV Off-Road Tour and Cave Pool Snorkeling

  • Departure:  Aruba Go Cherry ATV Tours & More, Sero Preto 22J, Oranjestad
  • Departure Time: 9 am
  • Includes:  Hotel pickup and drop-off, fuel surcharge, bottled water, professional guide, helmet

This next tour is a wonderful way to zoom around and explore in the sun, then take a refresher by doing some snorkeling! The ATV Off-Road Tour and Cave Pool Snorkeling is a great budget-friendly option that is wonderful for those who love a bit of adventure!

Explore the “wild” side of Aruba and all of its natural beauty on this 4-hour excursion! With a hotel pickup and drop-off included in the package, it couldn’t get any more convenient.

Starting off at 9 am, this is the perfect way to spend a morning and will ensure you avoid the majority of crowds while avoiding the hottest part of the day.

After a safety briefing and receiving your safety equipment (helmet), you’ll choose either a single or double Yamaha Grizzly 3500CC all-terrain vehicle.

The doubles are great if you’d like to go with a significant other or buddy, or if you simply don’t want to drive. A driver’s license is required, so the option of the double ATVs means that more people can join in.

The guide will lead you on your tour, and your first stop is the Natural Bridge. This bridge was unfortunately damaged in 2005, but the ruins are very interesting. The guide will fill you in on the history of it, and how it came to the current state it’s in.

Next up, is Andicur Beach, which is one of the most beautiful in the world. You’ll have some time here to take a dip in the water, or simply relax on the shore. However, we highly recommend using the snorkel rentals that come with the tour, as there’s so much beauty to explore beneath the surface!

4. Aruba ATV Tour with Off Road Adventure in Single and Double Seater

Aruba ATV Tour with Off Road Adventure in Single and Double Seater

  • Departure:  Around Aruba Tours, Alto Vista 116, Noord, Aruba
  • Includes:  Bandana, bottled water, tour guide, non-alcoholic beverages, free pickup and drop-off from and to your accommodation, helmet

We bring you yet another 4-hour Aruba ATV tour that’s been consistently high-rated among travelers and locals. The Aruba ATV Tour with Off Road Adventure in Single and Double Seater is great for couples and adventurers of all ages. If you’re into animals and off-the-beaten-path locations, then you’re in for a real treat with this one!

You do get free pickup and drop-off from your hotel or other accommodations, which only adds to the convenience of this tour. With an included bandana and bottled water, they try to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible while staying hydrated.

After getting a safety briefing, donning safety equipment, and figuring out who is driving and who is going along for the ride, you’ll set out to Philip’s Animal Garden. One of the biggest wildlife sanctuaries and rehab centers in the world, it holds more than 60 species.

These animals are abandoned but then rescued, making sure they’re very well taken care of. Once you enter the animal garden, the staff will provide you with a complimentary feeding bag for them great for bonding.

Next up, head over to the Alto Vista Chapel, commonly known as “the Pilgrim’s Church”. This Catholic chapel is beautiful and was constructed by a Spanish missionary in the mid-1700’s. As the first chapel ever built on the island, it has quite the history!

Check out the Natural Aruba Bridge on the way to seeing the stunning beaches of Wariruri Beach. The pristine beach is contrasted by the rocky coastline surrounding it, and is one of the top spots for surfers and fishermen. It’s not the best for swimming, however, as the currents can be quite aggressive at times.

Next up are the Bushiribana Ruins, which give insight into the gold mining that happened in the early 1800s here. This brought on quite the amount of tourists and immigration at the time. Next, see the Cave Natural Pool, where you can go cliff jumping, swimming, or just hang out and enjoy the surroundings.

Shark Bay is another lovely place, which is a perfect example of a Caribbean paradise. Andicuri Beach, Tripod Beach/Three Bridges, Blackstone Beach, and Ayo Rock Formations are also on the agenda!

5. Aruba ATV Tour Adventure with Kini Kini

Aruba ATV Tour Adventure with Kini Kini

  • Departure:  Kini Kini Transfer & Tours, Flacciusstraat 33, Oranjestad

First off, you’ll be picked up at your hotel or cruise port, so you don’t have to spend any time or money getting there. Once you meet up with your guide, you’ll receive a safety briefing as well as use any of their safety equipment. Your safety is always at the forefront of their operation, and they pay good attention to that.

You’ll be riding a Honda Ranchers 420cc ATV and follow your guide in a caravan. Your first destination is the 1700-era Alto Vista Chapel, known for its iconic yellow color and interesting history.

First built by Indians and Spanish Pioneers in the 1750’s, it’s designed to help bring peace to those who enter.

Get some relaxation time at Wariruri Beach, where you’ll also see the Baby Natural Bridge. This bridge is basically the successor to the Natural Bridge which unfortunately collapsed in 2005.

Then, you’ll see the interesting Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins, dating back to hundreds of years ago when Aruba had holes all around it due to the abundance of gold prospectors and people hoping to get rich.

After all that adventuring, take a refreshing dip in the clear blue waters of the Cave Pool Aruba! Named after its cave-like formation, it’s secluded enough to avoid crowds.

Best ATV Tours in Aruba

Getting There

You won’t likely have any trouble finding a good flight to Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba from most major US cities. In fact, you’ll probably be able to find some good nonstop options! If for some reason, you cannot find a nonstop flight from your home airport, connecting through Miami is a great alternative.

American, Canadian, Caribbean, European, and the majority of South American citizens don’t even need a visa to get in! However, you do need a valid passport.

Getting Around

Getting Around –

Getting around Aruba is quite easy, as there are so many viable transportation options.

Buses – Public buses are great! They tend to be very clean, air-conditioned, reliable/on-time, and accept US dollars and Aruban Florins. Unlimited day passes are probably the best option if you’ll be riding it around more than a couple of times throughout the day.

Taxis – Taxis are also very convenient, and you can take one by ordering ahead or hailing one from the street. If you’re staying in Palm Beach, Eagle Beach, or downtown Oranjestad, you’ll find them everywhere.

Bike – One of the best ways to see Aruba is by bike! Due to how flat the island is overall, you don’t have to be in great shape to pedal around. Not only that, but you’ll find various paved bike paths all around the most popular areas. There are plenty of Green Bike stations around, or if you don’t mind spending more for an app-based rental, try Bixi Bike.

Trolley – The trolleys are charming and offer that “authentic” experience. What makes them even more appealing is the fact that they are free and eco-friendly! They move around the backstreets, so you can get on or off as you wish. Starting at the Cruise Ship terminal, it has 6 different stops throughout downtown, and loops back to the terminal.

Car – Cars are probably unnecessary and a really expensive option if you’re just going to stay within the city. However, if you’d like to check out national parks or San Nicolas, you may want to rent one for a day or so.

Where to Stay

Just 20 miles long and 5 miles wide, it goes without saying that Aruba is quite a small island! Oranjestad is the capital and biggest city on the island, known for Dutch-like colonial houses. You’ll likely stay here, unless you prefer to stay on one of the beaches on the west side, like Palm Beach and Eagle Beach.

Oranjestad is a great location, and full of different cultural influences (aside from Dutch). You’ll be able to find many beautiful pieces of architecture, delicious restaurants, the cruise port, and lots of great shopping. Here, is where most tours start as well.

Renaissance Wind Creek is a great option for mid-to-upper budget range, located on a beautiful waterfront in the center of the city. With acres of private beaches, you can even see stunning pink flamingos contrasted against the clear blue water.

Wonders Boutique Hotel is an adult-only option that features an outdoor pool provided by a natural spring. This hotel is a wonderful place to start out the day, with tropical foliage that makes for a cozy reading spot. Not to mention, their breakfasts use only local ingredients.

Eagle Beach is another great option if you want to be on the beach or really like water sports. It’s actually ranked as one of the top 10 beaches on the planet! It is known for generally being very laidback and calm, though it’s not quite as walkable and you’ll likely need to use a taxi or bus to get around.

Pearl Aruba Condos – This is a great mid-range option located just 4 minutes from the beach. These are condos, so you’ll have your own kitchen, individual bedrooms, and a living room with a TV and sofa. Not only that, but they have a stunning outdoor pool!

Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort is a nice option for the entire family, and comes with rooms ranging from studio suites to 1-bedroom suites which all have an ocean view and jacuzzi tubs!

Palm Beach is a bit more touristy and has the vast majority of all-inclusive resorts and chain hotels. You will find mostly tourists here, and it can get a bit crowded. However, it’s really easy to walk everywhere. It has great bars, nightclubs, casinos, restaurants, and shopping, too.

Hyatt Regency Resort and Casino is a nice high-end option, located literally a minute walking from the beach. As you can imagine, the ocean views are incredible here. Not only that, but you have a full-service spa, casino, and 2 pools. The outdoor pool complex is massive, and even features a 2-story water slide!

Karibu Aruba – This boutique hotel is a nice budget option, yet still just 5 minutes walking to the beach, lots of restaurants, and shopping centers.

Restaurants and Eating Out

Aruba is known for having amazing Caribbean food, but also has a very obvious European influence. With that being said, you’ll find many restaurants that offer something from the two, but there’s just about every kind of food here.

2 Fools and A Bull – This Palm Beach restaurant is located in the country’s restored Old Cunucu House, and the name refers to the two chefs, Roger and Roy. Their circular bar seats 17, where they serve a 5.5-course meal with optional wine pairings. It almost feels like you’re at a dinner party with good friends.

Asi Es Mi Peru – As you can probably tell from the name, this is authentic Peruvian food complete with Peruvian landscapes and gorgeous hand-woven fabrics on the walls. The ceviche is one of the best we’ve ever tried, though beef, pork, and chicken dishes also have a lot to offer.

Atardi – If you’re looking for the perfect date night spot, this is it. This romantic place boasts tables on the beach, with big palm trees on one side, and the turquoise waters on the other. This place is great for seafood lovers, serving lobster tail, seabass, Macadamia grouper, salmon, but also short ribs and filet mignon.

Barefoot Restaurant – Located in Oranjestad, this is yet another great option for delicious seafood. We recommend the Two Tuna appetizer: Tuna carpaccio and tuna tartar with a delicious Asian twist of teriyaki and sesame seeds.

Elements – This beautiful location features floor-to-ceiling windows with a breezy deck that overlooks the ocean. This adults-only spot is perfect for dates or celebrations, offering natural, organic dishes for healthier living. Located in Oranjestad, their 6-course meal with a bottle of wine in one of their private palapas are the most romantic option!

Gostoso – The Portuguese name offers insight into the cuisine which is Portuguese and Aruban. Located in Oranjestad’s maze-like roads, it’s not the easiest to find but well worth the hnt. Beef carpaccio, bacalao, conch, and creole sushi is absolutely delicious!

Nightlife and Entertainment

Aruba has quite a varied nightlife, from packed clubs to laidback drinks with a gorgeous view.

  • The Beach Bar – This Palm Beach spot is absolutely beautiful! Surrounded by clear turquoise waters, it’s a great place to sip on some cocktails.
  • Saloon Bar – This is actually one of the most well-known bars in the country, located near some of the biggest high-rises. Come here if you’re looking to have some fun, chat with locals, and dance to some good music.
  • Bugaloe – This cozy place is great for having a conversation or enjoying a beautiful sunset with your special someone.
  • Café Chaos – The name speaks for itself! Good beers and excellent live music, it creates a perfectly tropical atmosphere that always offers good vibes.
  • Carlito’s Sports Beach Bar – If you are on the hunt for the best happy hour in Aruba, look no further. Their 2-for-1 drink special runs until 9pm which is practically unheard of!
  • La Ronda Café – With an open-air patio and great environment, you’ll have everything from DJs and dancefloors to karaoke nights.
  • Fireson Brewing – Everyone loves a good brew, especially when on vacation in a tropical paradise. As the first microbrewers on the island, they offer excellent service and even better beer.
  • Gusto Night Club – This L-shaped bar is always a lively place full of varied music, from hip-hop to salsa.
  • 809 Nightclub – This club is pretty big, with a dancefloor sized to match! International and local DJs play here, along with world-class sound and light engineers to ensure an all-around great experience.
  • South Beach Aruba – Yeah, the name may not be very ingenious but it’s a hotspot for those looking to enjoy some drinks and dancing with top-notch VIP service.
  • Sand Aruba by Brickell Bay – You’ll often find locals here on the weekends, and it’s hard not to join in! This is the place to be if you’re looking to dance until you can’t anymore. They not only offer great music, drinks, and dancing, but hookah and food, too!

Aruba’s weather doesn’t change much throughout the year, which makes it quite easy for planning your trip. You can expect temperatures in the low 80s all year long, with it getting just a bit hotter between May and October. It does rain a bit from October to December, but it’s not usually so much that it puts a damper on outside plans.

`Attractions

  • Arikok National Park – Deserted beaches and rocky coves scattered with cacti and limestone caves dating back hundreds (if not thousands) of years, contrasts quite a bit with the soft sand beaches on the island. Covering almost a whopping quarter of Aruba, the park is great for venturing around.
  • Aruba Aloe Factory and Museum – Native to Aruba, the aloe plant is treasured due to its medicinal properties. This factory and museum will show you all about how to cut, test, and package the products but also the history behind this magical plant.
  • Antilla Shipwreck – Aruba’s waters are covered in shipwrecks due to the treacherous rocks in the Caribbean. This actually makes for quite interesting diving and snorkeling spots, as the wrecks are inhabited by rich and varied marine life. This one in particular is what’s left of an 80-year-old cargo ship.
  • Ayo and Casibiri Rock Formations – You’ll see these on many of the tours we covered. These smooth rock formations are fun to climb on, but just as impressive to watch from afar.
  • Philip’s Animal Garden – This nonprofit provides a sanctuary for over 50 types of critters, and you’ll get to see and interact with many of them! Tropical birds, leopards, pigs, and much more are waiting!
  • Lourdes Grotto – This grotto is an intricate shrine carved into a limestone hill, built in 1958. The star of the show is the 1,500-pound statue of the Virgin Mary adorned with candles, flowers, and more.
  • If you have long hair, you seriously need to bring ponytails and/or head coverings. Aruba is windy , and it’s like this year-round. It’s not just a little breeze either! If you want to keep your hair out of your face during your trip, these are necessities.
  • Bring casual outfits. One or two nicer outfits are okay for a romantic dinner, but overall everyone is super casual.
  • Go into the water. There are so many beautiful beaches and clear waters, that you have to try getting out there! IF you don’t want to go snorkeling or swimming, at least try getting on a boat.
  • If you’re a beer lover, be prepared for the prices. Just a case of Coors Light will set you back about 60 bucks.
  • Bring a payment method that isn’t American Express. They get denied a good amount of time in Aruba. Even better, have some cash handy!

Off-road Aruba: UTV Tours & ATV Tours

Off road in Aruba

With so much to see and do in Aruba, one of the most popular ways to explore is via an off-road tour or rental. In fact, you can choose from a wide range of ATV tours, UTV tours, ATV rentals, and UTV rentals. Aruba has many amazing options for those looking for adventure on land and in the water!

With such a good road network in Aruba, you might be wondering why off-road vehicles are so popular? Well, they allow you to get off-road to discover the island’s natural beauty and go beyond just the traditional tourist attractions.

With an ATV or UTV in Aruba, you’ll gain access to scenic spots, natural landmarks, and off-the-beaten-path locations that can be challenging to access with conventional vehicles. This includes places like Arikok National Park, which covers about 20% of the island, featuring desert-like terrain, caves, and coastline.

Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about tours and ATV and UTV rentals in Aruba.

Why Off-Road in Aruba

Off-roading in Aruba is one of the best things to do on the island . It offers an adventurous way to explore, giving you the opportunity to visit natural wonders and less accessible areas. Not sure if off-roading in Aruba is for you? Here are some reasons why you won’t want to miss it.

  • Explore Arikok National Park: Aruba’s Arikok National Park covers almost 20% of the island. It offers a variety of landscapes, including rugged terrain, rocky coasts, and desert-like areas. Off-road vehicles are one of the best ways to explore this national park’s tough terrain.
  • Swim at Natural Pool: Off-road tours in Aruba often include a visit to the Natural Pool, a picturesque and secluded swimming spot formed by volcanic rock along the coastline. This hidden gem is surrounded by rough terrain which makes ATVs and UTVs the perfect mode of transportation to reach it.
  • Discover Hidden Gems: Get off-the-beaten-path to locations that can not be easily reached by conventional vehicles. This makes it one of the only ways to enjoy panoramic views, unique rock formations, and other scenic attractions that showcase the natural beauty of Aruba.
  • Get Your Adrenaline Pumping: Aruba UTV tours add an element of excitement and adventure to the exploring the island. Navigating through bumpy and challenging terrains can be thrilling for those seeking a more adrenaline-fueled experience.
  • Visit Cultural and Historical Stops: ATV rentals in Aruba allow you to visit cultural and historical sites that you may not visit otherwise. This may include stops to old gold mines, caves with indigenous art, or other points of interest around the island.

It’s important to note that while off-road island tours in Aruba can be an exciting way to experience the island, it’s essential to choose a reputable tour operator that prioritizes safety and adheres to environmental conservation practices to minimize the impact on the island’s delicate ecosystems.

ATV vs. UTV in Aruba

While often used interchangeably, ATVs (All-Terrain Vehicles) and UTVs (Utility Task Vehicles) are actually two different types of off-road vehicles used for outdoor activities. To help you decide what type of Aruba off-road tour or rental you want, let’s learn a bit more about each of them and how they differ.

ATV: All-Terrain Vehicle

  • Design: ATVs typically have a straddle-style seat and handlebars for steering, much like a motorcycle. They are designed for a single rider or, in some cases, may have a tandem seat for a passenger.
  • Use: ATVs are generally more agile and maneuverable. This makes them suitable for activities such as trail riding, racing, and navigating through narrow or rough terrain.
  • Stability: Due to their single-rider design, ATVs may be more prone to tipping over, especially during sharp turns or on uneven terrain. Proper rider technique and safety precautions are crucial when operating an ATV.
  • Power: ATVs are generally smaller and have a lighter build. They come with a variety of engine sizes, ranging from smaller engines for recreational use to larger, more powerful engines for racing.
  • Terrain: ATVs are well-suited for tackling a variety of terrains, including wooded trails, sand dunes, and rocky landscapes.

UTV: Utility Task Vehicle

  • Design: UTVs are designed with a side-by-side seating arrangement, allowing for a driver and one or more passengers to sit next to each other, like in a car. They also can have a backseat to allow for additional passengers.
  • Use: UTVs are often larger and built for utility tasks. They are commonly used for hauling cargo, carrying equipment, and performing work on farms, construction sites, or other industrial applications.
  • Stability: UTVs typically have a lower center of gravity and a wider wheelbase, providing increased stability. This makes them a safer option for tasks that involve carrying heavy loads or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Power: UTVs are larger and have a more robust structure to accommodate additional passengers and cargo. They often come equipped with more powerful engines suitable for heavy-duty tasks.
  • Terrain: UTVs are designed to handle rough terrain as well, but their larger size and utility focus make them better equipped for hauling, towing, and working in challenging environments.

Around Aruba, you’ll find both ATVs and UTVs are common. This means it is really up to you whether you want to drive or ride an ATV or UTV. Similarly, you can choose from joining a guided tour, where you will follow a guide around the island in your own ATV or UTV, or renting an ATV or UTV to explore Aruba at your own pace with your own itinerary.

Important note: The only thing you need to sign up for a tour or rent an ATV or UTV in Aruba is a valid driver’s license!

How to Select an Off-Road Tour Provider in Aruba

With so many options available, selecting the right off-road tour provider in Aruba is crucial for ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience. While we have vetted the ones above, there are many more out there.

Here are some tips to help you choose the best off-road provider.

  • Safety Measures: Prioritize safety. Ensure that the tour provider adheres to safety regulations, provides well-maintained vehicles, and employs experienced and certified guides.
  • Reviews and Testimonials: Read customer reviews and testimonials to get an idea of the experiences of previous participants. Pay attention to feedback on safety, the condition of vehicles, the quality of guides, and the overall satisfaction of customers.
  • Tour Options and Itineraries: Different companies may have unique routes, destinations, and attractions included in their off-road tours. Choose one that aligns with your interests and preferences.
  • Group Size and Atmosphere: Consider the group size on each tour. Some people prefer smaller, more intimate groups for a personalized experience, while others may enjoy the energy of larger groups. Check if the provider offers private tours if you prefer a more exclusive experience.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Choose a tour provider that practices responsible tourism and environmental conservation. Off-road tours can have an impact on delicate ecosystems, so it’s important to support operators committed to minimizing their footprint and preserving the natural beauty of Aruba.
  • Cost and Inclusions: Compare the costs of off-road tours among different providers. Be sure to understand what is included in the price, such as equipment rental, guides, entrance fees to attractions, and any additional amenities. Look for transparent pricing.
  • Cancellation and Refund Policies: Review the cancellation and refund policies of each provider. It’s important to be aware of the terms in case your plans change, and you need to cancel or reschedule your off-road tour.
  • Local Knowledge: Choose a tour provider with guides who have in-depth local knowledge. Guides who can provide insights into Aruba’s history, culture, and natural features enhance the overall experience.
  • Booking Process: Assess the ease of the booking process. A user-friendly and efficient booking system can contribute to a smooth experience from the initial reservation to the actual tour.

And there you have it. You’re ready for UTV tours, Aruba ATV rentals, and beyond!

The 10 Best Things To Do in Aruba for the Perfect Getaway

Chances are, you know someone who has been to Aruba and is excited to go back. When I told friends and family I was going, there were a lot of responses like, “UGH, you’ll love it. I want to visit again.” Once I saw the beach, I understood. There’s something about Aruba (AKA the “one happy island”) that is different from other islands I’ve visited. Maybe it’s the fact that it has more sunny days per year than any other island, or perhaps the steady easterly trade winds (which peak in June, but keep you cool under the hot sun).

It could be the sweet locals who love to share their cultural melting pot of languages and traditions, born of the island’s dreamy amalgamation of tropic and desert. The island is a blend of some of life’s best offerings, sparing no details. Even the tap water is Water Sommelier-approved .

While lying on the gorgeous beach (with a cocktail and chips) at Bucuti & Tara , I overheard some visitors chatting at the bar. Many were saying how this was their fifth or sixth time coming to the hotel and how each time, they make lifelong friends and have a great time. It made me smile even though I wasn’t a part of the group chatting. I was alone, but also a part of something communal and joyful. Soon, I heard loud cheering as the newfound friends and the rest of the bar congratulated a couple on securing a front-row beach chair reservation for the next morning. Yeah, it’s a pretty friendly place.

Alright, I’ve enticed you with a lovely beach day but what else is there to do on Aruba? From animal encounters, to nightlife, to family-friendly adventures, no matter what you want out of your trip, you will find it on this small joyous island. Here are ten things you should definitely do in Aruba.

10 Best Things To Do in Aruba

1. visit one (or many) of their stunning beaches that are open to the public.

Yes, I know I already mentioned it, but I have to say it again: If you ever wanted to be on the most picture-perfect beach, you’d have a hard time finding a better one than those in Aruba. The powdery white sand is not only gorgeous and soft, but doesn’t get too hot even when the sun is at its most intense due to its unique composition of coral and shells. The water is so crystal clear and blue that I felt like I had a hard time processing its beauty (especially as I had just flown out of freezing rain at home). The weather is gorgeous year-round in Aruba.

No matter where I went on the island, her beaches were stunning. And thankfully, no matter where you go on the island, the shoreline is open to all. While some resorts do have beach property, it doesn't extend to the shoreline.

Even if you don't spring for a hotel right on the beach, Aruba has public beaches that are easy to get to. Many hotels also share access with properties directly on the beach and even have chairs you can reserve. (Maybe you’ll have your own bar cheering experience!)

2. Enjoy a range of cuisine choices from fine dining to comfort food

For those who worry they may miss the comforts of home, driving around the island you will see some of your favorite restaurants from the States like Domino's, Benihana and KFC. I particularly fell in love with a giant Pizza Hut that had one of the biggest play areas I’ve ever seen. I failed to convince my travel group to go there, but that was fine by me as we got to experience a wide variety of local restaurants which were exquisite.

We ate at Caya House , where traditional comfort food gets a modern twist, Papillon , French Caribbean food, and Wilhelmina , which had creative plates not seen elsewhere on the island. You could not go wrong at any of those places. Some hotels have great dining as well, like Boardwalk Boutique Hotel , which features a three-course sea-inspired lunch to honor Aruba’s Paradise on Tap campaign.

I also got to experience fine dining with Chef Urvin at Infini where each course is made in front of you through a story-guided menu. While the experience is costly ($300 a person with wine pairing), the meal is worth it.

Even though there is fine dining on the island, the dress code is a rather relaxed “island chic.'' So, skip that extra checked bag. I don’t think I saw a single suit jacket during my stay. Stick to button-ups and fun flowy dresses you would wear to a casual beach wedding—especially if you get a chance to dine on a sailboat.

3. Sail all your worries away

When you’re by an ocean that’s as gorgeous as Aruba’s, you’re going to want to be on a boat. There are plenty of options depending on what you want to experience. If you don’t like being on top of the water, you can go under with a submarine tour instead.

On my trip, we booked a sailing yacht through Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort . I got to see “Aruba's marine beauty through a once-in-a-lifetime private snorkel sail with breathtaking views.”

Seeing the island from the ocean was an incredible way to see the contrasting lush tropical plants and desert flora. The snorkeling experience is one I won't soon forget as I got to swim just above a coral reef filled with colorful fish. Afterward, we ate one of the best meals I had on the trip—all freshly prepared on the boat. The experience is available now through August 2024 .

4. Get moving on water and land

Before I even got off the plane in Aruba, I heard not one, but two people talking about their excitement about the ATV tour they booked. One bragged that they did it last time and it was the best part of the trip.

There are plenty of options for you to choose from—everything from the beloved ATV/UTVs or bikes to something less landlocked like wave-runners or windsurfing.

We chose kayaking with Vela Aruba , which was perfect for a beginner like me. The beach was calm, yet provided some fish sightings even with other tourists nearby. I was pretty jealous of the tube riders who were screaming with laughter—though a relaxing activity that technically counts as exercise followed by a beverage was pretty delightful.

5. Tours and sightseeing for every interest

If something a little less extreme is more your speed, then try a tour. Again, there’s something for everyone with artistic mural tours , rich history tours and hikes that will show you even more of the island’s beauty.

We were lucky to get to be some of the first to tour Aruba’s first craft distillery, Pepe Margo . They are a young rum and gin distillery located in a scenic fully restored traditional Aruban home with a garden that grows some of the ingredients they use to make the spirits. At $25 a person, which includes a tasting, it's a great way for spirit enthusiasts to spend an afternoon. I learned so much from the passionate staff, which had me walking away with a new appreciation for the craft.

6. Animal encounters

Animal lovers will adore Aruba as well. The island is filled with interesting wildlife and gorgeous marine life in its waters and reefs. If you're fond of lizards, you don’t have to go far as the island has plenty of them scampering around. I saw both small Aruban whiptails and medium-sized iguanas—although they were happy to keep their distance unless I “dropped” some of my breakfast near my table.

As I said above, I was able to see a lot of fish while snorkeling, and some people on the same tour have seen turtles.

If you are lucky enough to stay at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort or go past it on a tour, you’ll see flocks of flamingos. Another feathered friend is the burrowing Shoco owl who you might see out and about while exploring the island.

As far as any native critters that you might not want to see, I am happy to report I didn’t see any large bugs. While I’m happy to entertain some scaly friends, I don’t love insects. Snakes are also rare to spot on the island. And while several types of sharks live in Aruba’s waters, most are not aggressive toward humans, and there hasn’t been a shark attack since 2015.

OK, back to the critters we want to check out. Aruba has some great experiences for animal lovers, like the Ostrich Farm , Butterfly Farm , Donkey Sanctuary  and  Philip's Animal Garden , and several ranches that have horseback riding tours.

7. Have a night on the town

If lying on the beach all day has you more energized at night, then check out the nightlife. From dance clubs to cocktail lounges to casinos, the happy island has plenty of ways to keep the night owls happy as well.

I didn’t get a chance to experience much of Aruba’s nightlife on this trip (though the Sopranos Piano Bar was tempting). But I noticed there were a lot of “girls trip” groups of all ages having a blast together.

With Aruba being safe, friendly and easy to navigate, I could see why so many had chosen this Island for their girls' getaway. Aruba is also very welcoming to LGBTQ+ travelers and has entertainment geared toward the community, like the CAGE Nightclub.

8. Spend time with the family

A trip to Aruba can truly be what you want it to be—a girls' trip, romantic getaway or even a family trip.

There are plenty of family-friendly resorts where I saw toddlers and kids enjoying time with their parents on the beaches. The easy-going pace of the island and calm waters make for a great destination for young parents who want something easy but still a little adventurous.

For the preteens and older crowd, there’s De Palm Island , where you can get an all-inclusive experience for $129 a person that includes water slides, food, a water park and rides. Plus, many of the above options are great for families.

While, yes, Aruba has a party scene, it's not in your face like some other tropical destinations, so you can easily avoid it.

Dining is casual and filled with options for picky eaters. The kids will enjoy themselves while parents might be able to get a page or two read before being asked to help with a sand castle.

9. Recharge and renew with plenty of spa options

While we’ve given you plenty to fill your itinerary already, you have to make sure you leave time to simply relax. The locals on the island believe that the water there is healing. No, I wouldn't book a trip to Aruba to heal that weird rash you have, but if you want to feel emotionally (OK, maybe even physically) recharged, you should take a dip in the ocean and just let your body float. Many resorts have spa treatments that expand on this feeling and connect you to the water even more.

Boardwalk Boutique Hotel has a specialty ocean-wave massage that was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It was unique with movements that felt like waves crashing over my body. We did a water meditation which helped us not only connect to water, but to our loved ones as well, with a flower ceremony. I really recommend it for those who are missing someone and want a moment to connect.

Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort has Yoga by the Sea, sound healing sessions, restorative spa treatments and more. I experienced my first sound bath session while staying there. Look, I thought the concept was a little silly, but I'll try almost anything once. If you are a person who listens to ASMR videos or gets goosebumps at a sound that tickles the brain just right, I’m telling you to try a sound bath. Experiencing one on the beach next to crashing waves was pure peace. I’ll be chasing that calmness for a while.

10. Enjoy events like Carnival

Aruba is home to many events from festivals to athletic tournaments, but the one I hear the most about (mainly from locals telling me to return for it) is Carnival.

From Aruba’s site: “This vibrant festival, steeped in Caribbean history, brings together locals and visitors to celebrate Aruban culture and traditions. With its lively parades, colorful costumes, and infectious music, these festivities truly are a feast for your senses.” Pictures show dazzling bright costumes, dancing and parades. What’s not to like?

The season officially starts in November with the best carnival dates in January and February (the perfect time to leave anywhere cold) every year. Check Aruba’s calendar to see what fun occasions are happening during your stay or plan your trip around one!
