Mega Millions jackpot rises to estimated $1.1 billion for Tuesday's drawing

Mega Millions announced its upcoming jackpot on Tuesday will be an estimated $1.1 billion after no one won the big prize Friday night.

The winning numbers for Friday night's jackpot , which had a jackpot of $977 million, were 3, 8, 31, 35, 44 and a MegaBall of 16. The Megaplier is 3x.

Tuesday's upcoming jackpot will be the eighth-highest lottery jackpot ever, surpassing the $1.08 billion Powerball jackpot won in Los Angeles in July of last year.

The $1.1 billion represents three months of no one winning the Mega Millions grand prize. The jackpot also comes with a lump-sum cash option estimated to be at $525.8 million.

Mega Millions offers jackpot winners the option of accepting a one-time cash payment, or the full $1.1 billion to paid out with 30 payments over 29 years. Most people choose the cash option.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever,  worth $1.602 billion , was sold on Aug. 8, 2023, in  Florida .

Lottery jackpots grow so large because the odds of winning are so small. For Mega Millions, players have a 1 in 302.6 million chance of taking home the top prize. 

This is just the sixth time in the nearly 22-year history of the Mega Millions game that the jackpot has ever exceeded $1 billion.

And, lottery winnings do not come without taxes.

There's a mandatory 24% federal withholding for winnings above $5,000 that goes straight to the IRS. Some states tax lottery winnings as well, but states like California, Florida and Texas do not, at least initially as income.

Topdeck creates trip itineraries designed exclusively for younger travellers. They have a strict age limit of 18-39. They are geared towards active, budget-minded young travellers who want to meet other people from all over the world, and tend to be very popular with university students and backpackers. If you are looking for a tour better suited to your age range, get in contact with us and our customer support team will work on pairing you with the perfect adventure.

TourRadar specializes in giving you the best tours from around the world, however the tours we offer do not include airfare and we do not book or advise on airfare. You will be responsible for booking your flights to meet with the group at the starting city. We do not recommend booking airfare before confirming your tour. Unfortunately you cannot modify the itinerary or prolong your stay in any of the destinations. I have attached trip notes packed with useful information to give you a good idea of what is already covered in the program.

Thanks for your enquiry and apologies for our delay! Biking is definitely optional, and you can definitely see Amsterdam on foot - no problem! Spending money is difficult to outline as everyone is different. I always recommend that more is better - you don't want to go home with regrets! But you could get by spending moderately on €30 - €40 per day. That doesn't include shopping or optional excursions.

Due to different peoples spending habits and budgets we can not really advise on how much to budget. We recommend that more is better - you don't want to go home with regrets.

Based on experience, we recommend at least €50 – €60 per day. This is to cover daily expenses including sightseeing, small souvenir shopping and non-included meals. Remember, this is a rough figure only and spending habits vary greatly between individuals according to their budget and habits!

You most certainly can finish in Amsterdam if you would like to. You would just need to inform your guide know while you are on the tour.

Unfortunately Topdeck only caters for passengers aged 18-39 years old, so it will not be possible to join this tour, however we do have a few more options that may be suitable for you both which I am sure you will love and have a great time.

• Typhoid - Recommended for Albania. Ideally 2 weeks before travel.

Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.

• For any tour departing before 24th May 2024 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after 24th May 2024, a minimum payment of €75 is required to confirm your booking with Topdeck. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
