Ramakkalmedu is a windy hill station with beautiful huge rocks and lots of greenery. The views are simply breathtaking, especially during sunrise or sunset. The place is perfect for trekking. If you can manage to trek up a rock, it can be a memorable experience. Since the hill station isn't very famous yet, there is less crowd and that becomes a major advantage. Just be careful when the wind is too strong. But the breeze generally makes the atmosphere wonderful.

Hence, the place is a proposed site for generating wind energy. Since the hill station enjoys an elevated location, it offers a magnificent panoramic view of the towns and villages in the surrounding region. About Ramakkalmedu
With over a lakh tourists visiting the lush site of Kerala is this magnificent hill station of Ramakkalmedu with innumerable attractions to offer to the world. Home to the ancient twin statue is this wonderful hill site which forms one of the representative sites and structures of the country. With its physical attributes and legends, the site definitely becomes among the best places to visit in Thekkady and a must-visit place in Idukki district.
Major Attractions
The legends believe that the renowned Hindu Lord Rama stepped on the hills of this site while looking for his beloved wife Goddess Sita when she was abducted by the evil Ravana. The hillside is believed to be named after the same legend as the "Land of the Stone of Rama" forming 'Rama-kal-medu'. Devotees come from all over the nation following this legend. This is one of the exciting Thekkady tourist places . and it just cannot be missed in any Thekkady tour package.
The Twin Statue
Connected together by the renowned Dam of Idukki are the two lovely little hills here namely the Kuravan and the Kurathi which are together home to the largest historical twin sculpture built here in 2005. It was constructed by the renowned C.B Jinan and is a masterpiece in itself. The sculpture reminds one of the Sangam period prevalent in the South of India, predominantly Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It is quite a popular site among art lovers.
Tourist Hub
With Turtle Rock, historical monuments and Frog rock present at the rare Wind energy producing site, this hillside has become one of the representatives and highest tourist attracting spots of the entire State. People from around the borders come to witness the lush beauty and ancient heritage of the site covered in a lush green carpet of thick vegetation of plantations and Bamboos. Travelers from across the nation come here to enjoy the panoramic view of the entire state here, especially when it is enlightened under the dark sky.
Wind Energy
Boasts of proudly being among the biggest areas of wind blowing in Asia is the wonderful hillside along with its nearby villages like Pushpakandam. Working under a private and government collaboration is the only Wind Mill producing a capacity of 14.25 MW.
