A recent study showed that the solo travel industry is projected to experience a significant influx in the upcoming years. Whether you want to experience a solo adventure, see the world at your own convenience, or hope to meet new people along the way, there’s always something worthwhile about traveling by yourself.

Luckily, there are plenty of travel companies that cater to solo travelers to make planning stress-free. Below, we’ve rounded up some of the best companies for every budget and travel preference to support your wanderlust—including our top picks for women-only and solo parent travel.

  • Best for Ages 35-50: El Camino Travel
  • Best Sustainable: G Adventures
  • Best for True Solo Travel: Black Tomato
  • Best for Ages 25-39: For The Love of Travel

Best Experience : Exodus Travels

Courtesy of Exodus Travels

Traveling solo on an Exodus Travels group trip means access to self-guided and guided excursions around the world for every type of traveler. Choose a walking wine holiday in Portugal or explore Egypt via cruise boat and sleeper train, for example. Additionally, its Exodus Edits collection offers shorter itineraries of up to five days and is geared towards travelers in their 30s and 40s—though they’re ideal for anyone looking for more vigorous activity such as ziplining and surfing in Costa Rica or sampling street eats and beach hopping in Sicily.

There is no single supplement fee when you room with a fellow traveler, and chances are you may end up with your own room anyway. Booking a travel itinerary with UK-based Exodus Travels includes a full refund should the company need to cancel your trip and a complimentary trip transfer to another tour or different person up to 21 days before the scheduled trip. Plus, travelers who book their third or more trips with Exodus receive a 5 percent discount on their next booking.

What’s more, the company works to curate trips that align with a number of United Nations sustainable development goals including goals for responsible consumption and production, empowering local communities, and climate action considerations. Exodus Travels (founded in 1974) was awarded Best Operator in National Geographic Traveller’s sixth annual Reader Awards in 2021.

Best for Ages 35-50 : El Camino Travel

Courtesy of Encounter Travel

According to El Camino Travel ’s founder, Katalina Mayorga, elder millennials are their strongest customer base. That means if you were born between 1980 and 1985 approximately, you’ll find yourself among curious, like-minded solo travelers looking to immerse themselves in destinations like Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, and the Eastern European nation of Georgia. Some trips even add a professional photographer to capture shareable shots so you can remain in the moment.

All of El Camino’s guided, small group trips max out at 12 participants. They’re also curated with an ethos of preserving and protecting local culture, the environment, and communities. For example, some of their partners include the Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville in Tobago and La Sierra Artist Residency in Santa Marta, Colombia.

Best Sustainable : G Adventures

Courtesy of Intrepid Travel

G Adventures is particularly known for its sustainable, responsible ethos. The company works with small, locally-owned hotels and operators to ensure your travel dollars benefit the community you’re visiting; outlines policies around child and animal welfare practices; aims to reduce single-use plastics, and works to ensure experiences taking place in Indigenous communities align with community goals.

Founded in 1990, G Adventures specializes in small group adventure tours to a host of destinations from Asia to South America and Africa to the Arctic. Nearly half of the travelers on every trip are flying solo, and there’s no single supplement if you choose to bunk with a same-sex roommate. Or, select your own room for a fee.

A Chief Experience Officer leads each group tour and itineraries are searchable by travel style. For example, find wellness-centric trips like nine days of daily yoga, visits to Hindu temples, and partake in traditional healing ceremonies in Bali. Or travel with their partner, National Geographic, for an exclusive guided tour of South Africa’s Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and a visit to Soweto township in Johannesburg, the home of Nelson Mandela.

G Adventures partnered with hostel booking service Hostelworld in 2021 to launch its Roamies itineraries. Its combination of backpacking and organized travel itineraries includes countries like Albania, Mexico, the Netherlands, and Vietnam. The trips are marketed to 18- to 35-year-olds, though like-minded individuals keen on budget travel and communal environments may enjoy these trips, too.

Best for True Solo Travel : Black Tomato

Courtesy of G Adventures

Black Tomato specializes in bespoke luxury travel experiences. For those interested in traversing around the world solo and willing to pay a premium for tailored itineraries, its adventurous or culturally immersive experiences may just be your ticket.

Your travels might look like hiking and biking in Patagonia, embarking on a spiritual pilgrimage through Bhutan and India, chasing glaciers and geysers in Iceland, or learning to cook Georgia and Armenia’s local dishes or Japan’s regional cuisine.

In 2017, Black Tomato launched its Get Lost adventure travel experience. With the support of a dedicated team, and without prior knowledge of where they're headed, Get Lost participants will find their way home from an undisclosed location. The location is selected based on a pre-travel questionnaire about which environment clients would like to immerse themselves in. Then, they show up at the airport and the adventure begins.

Best for Ages 25-39 : For The Love of Travel

Courtesy of Contiki

With 80 percent of individuals traveling with For The Love of Travel jet -setting solo, each trip is packed with opportunities to meet fellow Millennial and Gen Z travel enthusiasts. For example, within your small “crew” of up to 14 people, make new friends doing snow sports and unwinding in saunas in Lapland or devouring tacos and sipping mezcal in Mexico City. Trips range from four to nine days, including weekends in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain wilderness or an extended weekend in Costa Rica where you’ll hike through rainforests, relax in hammocks, and hike, bike, or surf.

According to company feedback, the average FTLOT traveler is 30 years old and interested in meeting new people while traveling . The company bills itself as a mid-range travel company, where “we might stay in a more basic hotel for a couple of nights so we can include a Michelin-worthy meal and a private catamaran ride.”

In 2022, FTLOT plans to offer at least 10 new itineraries including to Belize, Turkey, and Spain’s Basque Country. And for those with the flexibility, the company launched Sojrn in 2021 featuring month-long, themed stays in destinations like Cape Town—focused on biodiversity—and a fashion-oriented stay in Paris.

FTLOT requires an initial deposit and allows installment payments if not paid in full.

Best for 50+ : Overseas Adventure Travel Rates

Courtesy Flash Pack

Overseas Adventure Travel is primarily aimed at American travelers aged 50 and over. It offers guided itineraries to worldwide destinations, including Africa, Antarctica, Asia, and the South Pacific, with trips ranked by activity level and accompanied by a list of physical requirements to help select an itinerary that is best suited for you. For example, their Japan and South Korea itinerary advise that participants be able to carry their own luggage as the selected hotels do not have porter service.

Some of Overseas Adventure Travel’s most popular trips include 17 days of wending the Adriatic from Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina (think a walking tour in Dubrovnik, sampling traditional Bosnian food in Sarajevo, and exploring the countryside near Zagreb). On another popular trip, you spend 15 days traveling through Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, ending in Helsinki, Finland. All trips offer pre-and post-itinerary extensions, and either waive the single supplement entirely or offer a discount on a private room.

The company offers a free Roommate Matching Program which helps you find a like-minded, same-sex roommate. If they can’t find a match, your single supplement is deducted. Small group sizes typically average 13 travelers.

Overseas Adventure Travel won the Solo Travel Award for Best Tour in 2017 and 2018, thanks in large part to its policy of offering a limited number of single spaces for each itinerary.

Best Female : Wild Women Expeditions

Courtesy of Overseas Adventure Travel

It began as an all-women, Canada-based canoe tripping company in 1991, and Wild Women Expeditions is perfect for boundary-pushing women who want to travel independently and enjoy the safety and support of an organized tour. The company also prioritizes hiring female tour leaders and on-the-ground guides. It offers outdoor adventures for women of all ages and identities and with a range of physical abilities (“whether your greatest skill is tracking a storm or talking up a storm, summiting mountains or summoning courage, keeping your kayak in line or coloring outside the lines,” as the company describes).

The company travels to 31 destinations around the world like Egypt, Tanzania, and the Azores islands. Itineraries are typically adventure-based and are filtered on their website by activity, with options ranging from sailing to cycling and horse riding. Imagine yourself sea kayaking and snorkeling in the Galapagos or scaling glaciers in Alaska.

Most guests are solo travelers and there’s no single supplement to worry about as accommodation is typically in a shared room or cabin. Though if privacy is a priority, you can usually snag your own room for a nominal extra fee. Group sizes are kept small and social with between six and 14 women, depending on the itinerary you choose. The average group size is eight.

Wild Women Expeditions also takes care to curate trips that avoid or minimize the disturbance of wildlife; supports environmental education and advocacy projects; and partners with social justice and women’s rights organizations.

Best for Solo Parent Travel : Intrepid Travel

Courtesy of Wild Women Expeditions

Intrepid ’s family-themed holidays welcome adults traveling with children, including solo parents looking to travel with their kids without the stress of planning and coordinating a trip. Since each family’s travel needs and preferences are different, every itinerary includes an “essential trip information” section where Intrepid outlines whether the trip would be a good fit for you and your kids, as well as a physical rating from least to more strenuous activities.

For example, an itinerary through part of the Amazon Jungle in Peru advises the jungle can be very hot and humid, and that the weather can be unpredictable in the Andes. On the other hand, an 11-day trip to Borneo island in Southeast Asia lists a minimum age of 5 and outlines a range of accommodations from hotels to guesthouses and jungle camps; on a few occasions, travel times between destinations range between four to five hours. Trips to Costa Rica, Tanzania, China, and Morocco are also listed.

Individuals under 17 years typically receive a 10 percent discount, and the company requires that adults have at least one child under 18 years traveling with them. As part of Intrepid’s commitment to responsible travel, itineraries support initiatives surrounding sustainability and conservation, climate education, and preservation of Indigenous culture.

  • Holiday Types

If the thought of going on holiday by yourself is daunting or you are thinking about booking a singles holiday for the first time? Let us reassure you before you take the plunge and enter the world of solo travel.

For many, going on holiday by yourself is quite a big step to take but you're not alone as there are millions of like-minded individuals out there who every year opt for singles holidays. There are so many different reasons for deciding to choose a solo break so whether you are single or a couple who simply wish to encounter different experiences on holiday, you will find that solo travelling is the ideal solution.

There are a number of advantages to solo travel too because although the break is aimed at the single traveller, you will be touring in a group of like-minded individuals so you won't be on your own. Your group will also be accompanied by an experienced tour representative whose job it is to make sure that everything runs smoothly so you have an enjoyable holiday. Age isn't an issue either on singles holidays because a wide variety of people from all walks of life tend to join these tours whether they are young or old. Another advantage is that you will be allocated your own room and in some cases will avoid having to pay a single supplement fee.

Most tour operators organise mini breaks where first timers to the singles travel market can experience what this type of holiday is all about. You will get to spend a few days away in the UK at a comfortable hotel where you will get to meet new people via a Welcome Drinks Reception. The rest of the weekend will include excursions, entertainment and meals with plenty of time at leisure to make new friends. Once you have had a taste of a singles break, you can then make a start on planning where to go next!

The key ingredients for a successful singles break are as long as you enjoy meeting new people, exploring new places and experiencing things you wouldn't normally do – you are guaranteed to fit right in on a singles holiday – so where will you be going?

You are certainly not restricted to places you can visit and things you can do when choosing a singles holiday. Here is a snippet of the types of singles breaks available to you:

Touring Holidays If you've been on a 'Discovery Weekend' and like what you see? Your next step should be to book your first singles holidays where you will certainly embark on a journey of discovery. Not only will you get to see some magnificent sights, quaint towns and villages as well as stunning scenery – there will be plenty of exciting surprises along the way. Leave everything to your experienced tour representative and enjoy an experience of a lifetime!

Walking Tours Are you feeling active but travelling alone? Walking tours could prove to be the correct choice for your next holiday away. You could go walking in Turkey and discover amazing sites such as Ephesus during your travels or perhaps enjoy gentle strolls through the scenic countryside in Germany. It doesn't matter what your walking ability is, each tour will be graded differently so you'll know whether it's suitable or not.

River Cruise Holidays Nothing's stopping you if you're a single traveller and wish to take a river cruise. Admire the beautiful Portuguese landscape as you cruise along the Douro, uncover the ancient history of Egypt as you travel along The Nile or discover the wonders of the Mediterranean. With so many stunning rivers to choose from, deciding where to go will be the only decision you have to make.

Solo travel isn't just for single people, many couples decide to choose a break aimed at single travellers and holiday independently because they both have different interests!

Melanie, The Professional Traveller

  • 3 March 2024

There are several coach holidays for single travellers.

Here are the main 3 types of coach holidays available;

If you are not sure which option suits you best check out this guide and find the perfect coach holiday for you.

Check out this guide below to learn more about the options if you are a single traveller looking to go on a coach holiday, and find your perfect trip.

coach holidays for single travellers

1. Coach Holidays for Single Travellers – What Type of Holiday?

Table of Contents

How to go on a coach holiday if you are single?

As a single traveller you have three main options when it comes to coach holidays. There are dedicated single traveller coach holiday companies that just cater for single/solo travellers. There are regular coach holidays where a minority of the travellers with be single amongst the group. Some companies are now specific departure dates within their holiday program for single travellers i.e. everyone on board will be single/solo travellers.

When it comes to coach holidays for single travellers there are a couple of options to consider.

2 . Coach Holidays for Single Travellers

These holidays are geared solely towards single travellers. That means everyone else on the holiday is a single traveller too.

There are no single supplements to pay and all the rooms are single.

Just You has coach holidays for single travellers all over the world. They have chauffeur pick-ups, tour managers and everything else you would expect on a coach holiday. Their prices are competitive when compared to the single supplements that you would have to pay with some other coach holiday operators.

Go Singles is another single traveller operator. They specialise in holidays for those over 50. Again there are no single supplements. They have a different range of destinations available, including India, Bhutan and Nepal. Again prices are competitive.

Coach Holidays for Single Travellers

3. Single Travellers As Part of a Coach Holiday Group

Many coach holiday operators will have an allowance for each departure date for several single travellers. Sometimes there can be a single supplement to pay, sometimes not. This will depend on the contract the holiday operator has negotiated with each accommodation provider.

For example, a company I worked with had 6 single places available on each tour, supplement-free. Each group was around 45 travellers.

To give an example. Saga Holidays has a tour departing in May to the Italian Lakes. Travellers can book as two sharing a room for £1599 per person. Single travellers can book this tour for £1779 per person. This makes the single supplement for the whole trip £180. This means there is likely a limited number of places available for single travellers on this departure date.

They also have a tour of Southern Italy and Sicily. This is available for £1369 per person sharing a room and the price is the same for single travellers. That means there is no single supplement at all on most of their departure dates. This means that the group will be made up of a mix of single travellers and people travelling with partners, wives, husbands, friends etc.

4. Coach Holiday Companies Offering Single Only Departure Dates

As demographics change by having more single households, holidays are changing to reflect this. This means that many coach holiday operators are now offering the option of single traveller only departure dates on their tours. This means that for a particular departure, all travellers will be single travellers and all accommodation single rooms.

To take another example from SAGA. They offer a Southern Italy and Sicily tour purely for single travellers. This means that everyone going on the tour will be staying in their own single room. The price is £1689 per person. There is only 1 departure date available for 2022.

5. Tours with Couples and Singles

For over 25 years I have taken coach holidays all over the world as a Tour Manager.

I have never taken a group of single travellers away, and have never worked for a company that does purely single traveller holidays. My experience has always been of groups which comprise the majority of travellers sharing a room along with a smaller number of single travellers within the group.

Having asked single travellers about their experiences here is what they have said about these types of holidays;

Most of the single travellers I have met found the thought of travelling with a large group of other single travellers a bit overwhelming. For some, this was because they were independent and happy to be on their own during the day, and perhaps join in with people for meals. For others, it was because they felt they were less ‘exposed’ travelling within a mixed group. They liked the company of others for certain parts of the day but were equally happy on their own.

Some single travellers felt there was less pressure to join up with other singles in such a group.

Some of the travellers I met on these holidays met as single travellers on a group tour and then started travelling together. I also met some groups who had met on a tour in a similar way i.e. they hadn’t known each other before they travelled together the first time.

7. What to Expect as a Single Traveller on a Coach Holiday

The groups I travelled with always knew that a number of the travellers within their group would be on their own. The vast majority of these single travellers were invited along by other travellers at some point in the tour to join them. This could be for meals, for activities, or for free time.

Equally, people were happy if single travellers wanted to be on their own. In this way, they had the option to do whatever suited them with little pressure either way.

As a Tour Manager, I have also invited single travellers to join me at various times. For touring holidays this often involved hosting a table of single travellers and helping to introduce them to each other and the rest of the group. It felt great to see these people form their own connections and friendships during the tour.

That said, there shouldn’t be an expectation that a Tour Manager is there to accompany a single traveller. While any Tour Manager will do the best they can to help any traveller, they also have to balance the demands of the whole group.

8. The Odd Few Problems

In 25 years I can probably count on 1 hand the number of times there have been any problems with single travellers on group tours.

Here are two of those experiences on tour;

A single traveller that wanted to spend all their time with one particular couple. The couple tried being polite in requests for some time on their own and eventually had to ask me to step in. The problem was really due to a lack of awareness by the single traveller.

A single traveller is unable to manage the holiday on her own. This was because she wasn’t physically fit enough to manage the tour. Being single meant she had to rely on me as the Tour Manager, the driver and other passengers to help her with things like luggage, hand luggage, getting on and off the coach and the excursions.

These problems were dealt with and worked around so they didn’t impact anyone’s holiday.

Generally, single travellers are independent enough to enjoy doing their own thing and perhaps catching up with the rest of the group at meal times.

9. The Most Common Issue

The number one issue I have seen single travellers experience on coach holidays is that they have decided to share a room with another traveller, to save the single supplement.

This has meant people who don’t know each other that well have ended up travelling together.

Sometimes the people have known each other but being together all day and all night has just stretched their relationship to breaking point.

Some holiday companies allow single travellers to pay a lower rate if they agree to share a room with a fellow traveller of the same sex. This means they haven’t met until they arrive on the tour together.

Thankfully, given that single supplements have greatly reduced or in many cases disappeared these issues should be minimised.

If you are considering sharing a room with someone to save any sort of supplement then I would urge you to strongly consider whether the saving is worth it.

As a Tour Manager, I have had to arrange last-minute single rooms for guests during the tour. This can be costly to arrange with no guarantee so stressful for everyone involved.

I have also had to move customers to opposite parts of the coach when their relationship has deteriorated as a result of sharing a room. Sometimes they still had to share a room which must have made a very difficult end and start to each day.

Some travellers have felt pressured to do or not do certain activities based on what their roommate wants to do. This can make for a very stressful experience, especially if one person wants to avoid any sort of conflict.

As a Tour Manager, I have had to step in and try to help and calm these situations. It can be very difficult, with limited options to help in such situations.

10. 3 Things to Consider

If you are considering taking a coach holiday as a single traveller then think about the following;

  • Do you want to travel with a group made up of entirely other single travellers?
  • Would you prefer to travel with a mixed group of travellers i.e. couples, partners, friends and singles?
  • If you are considering sharing a room to save a single supplement what is the cost saving? Have you shared your personal space with someone in such a way before? If not how are you going to manage expectations, boundaries and sharing the space?

Taking a coach holiday as a single traveller can be a great way to get the best of both worlds. The freedom to explore on your own, support from being on an organised tour, and the option to join in with others if you choose to.

Unforgettable Vacations for Singles and Solo Travelers

Kimberly Miles Avatar

Kimberly Miles

Two feet perched in a hammock on a beach with blue waters.

There are many reasons why one may consider a solo vacation . Perhaps friends backed out at the last minute, or they had a recent breakup with their travel partner. Or maybe they’re ready to take that bucket list vacation that they’ve been dreaming of for years, but can’t quite get their friends or family on board to take the trip with them.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my years as a solo traveler , it’s that one should never wait for someone else to go after their travel dreams. And sometimes, the best trips are the ones that are taken alone. Thankfully, many popular travel destinations have also taken note that the popularity of single travel is increasing. There are now a multitude of opportunities for singles to have the time of their lives.

From all-inclusive vacations and beach getaways to cruises and cross-country train rides, the opportunities are limitless when the only decision-maker on your vacation is you! Here’s our list of some of the best vacations for singles to have an unforgettable “solocation”:

A woman in front of the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, one of the best vacations for singles.

1. Nassau , Bahamas

A trip to the Caribbean is always a great idea, and an even better idea for a singles vacation . With beautiful year-round weather, gorgeous white sand beaches , remarkable history and culture, water activities galore and a tropical vibe that can put any traveler at ease, Nassau , Bahamas is no doubt one of the best vacations for singles.

In addition to the beaches, there is plenty to do and see in the Bahamas to keep a solo traveler busy. During an all-girls trip back in 2010, I spent some time by myself exploring the beautiful Atlantis resort (which you can gain full access to as a guest of the Comfort Suites Paradise Island ), testing my luck at the nearby casinos and doing some shopping and exploring in the colorful downtown area.

All-inclusive resorts like Breezes Resort & Spa Bahamas  on Cable Beach make solo travel easy, affordable and stress-free. There are numerous land and water activities, live entertainment and spa packages to pamper yourself. S ingle travelers can sit and relax at the beach or one of three freshwater pools. Or, take part in activities such as rock wall climbing, beach volleyball, tennis, kayaking and surfing. With all there is to do to keep busy, you won’t feel like you’re alone at all!

And if you prefer to go by cruise, Norwegian Cruise Lines offers comfy Single Studios for one on their cruises to the Bahamas from New York . Not only will you get to explore the Bahamas , but also Orlando and Bermuda!

A woman taking a selfie on a beach in Costa Rica, one of the best vacations for singles.

2. Costa Rica

If your idea of the perfect vacation for singles is somewhere relaxing where you can bask in the natural beauty of your destination, Costa Rica is a top choice. Not only is Costa Rica  considered to be among the top destinations for solo female travelers, but it is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places to take a trip as a solo traveler in general. I traveled to Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica as a single mom with my then 3 year old son in 2017 and it was by far one of the best solo experiences that I’ve had!

Aside from the delicious food, beautiful beaches , lush green forest and admiring the sloths, birds and monkeys in the trees, the “Ticos” were the highlight of my solo trip with my son. A “Tico” is a term used to refer to the natives of Costa Rica . Out of all of the people I’ve met traveling, they were by far some of the friendliest. Between the Ticos and other travelers (both solo and group travelers), I never once felt alone.

The Retreat Costa Rica in Atenas is an all-inclusive wellness resort and spa well worth considering as a solo traveler . In addition to its breathtaking land and sea views, there are numerous ways to de-stress and pamper yourself. There are yoga classes, mediation classes, spa treatments and healing practices. There are also annual events such as the Yoga Fest Zumbathon, a great way to meet new friends with like-minded interests!

Jamaica is another top Caribbean destination that makes for the ultimate tropical getaway , whether you travel alone or with others. It is also home to some of the best adults-only resorts that make vacations for singles an experience they won’t forget!

If you’re not afraid to let your inhibitions loose, the legendary adults-only Hedonism II resort in Negril may be a place to consider. This all-inclusive top-clothing optional resort is considered an “adults playground” and is ideal for singles and couples. There you will have the opportunity to meet other like-minded (and open-minded) travelers while having access to stunning beaches, themed parties, numerous land and water sports , live entertainment and gourmet dining.

In Montego Bay, the all-inclusive and adults-only Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is more traditional vacation option for single travelers looking for a fun, yet relaxing escape to paradise. The recently remodeled Zen Spa provides a place to relax and be pampered with a spa treatment or soothing massage. There are also plenty of daily activities, live entertainment and weekly parties which provide the ideal atmosphere for meeting other singles and solo travelers . And with twelve restaurants, bars and lounges, it won’t be difficult to find that perfect spot to enjoy a meal!

A woman taking a selfie in front of the Chichen Itza ruins near Cancun, Mexico, one of the best vacations for singles.

4. Cancun, Mexico

When I first told my family members that I had booked a solo vacation to Cancun, Mexico , they thought that I was insane. To be honest, a small part of me thought the same! However, it turns out that Cancun was one of the best vacations for singles that I have ever taken!

Cancun’s numerous all-inclusive resorts , bustling nightlife and various excursions and activities make solo travel a breeze. Within minutes of venturing out to explore the warm waters and white-sand beaches , I had met friendly locals and other tourists who were willing to strike up a conversation and provide fun company. There were also plenty of day trips that made it easy to see popular sites while meeting other travelers. With the Chichen Itza Early Access Tour , I was able to get out and see the famous ruins before the heat really hit, and still make it back in time to enjoy the day lounging on the beach.

One of the most popular all-inclusive resorts for single travelers in Cancun is the Temptation Cancun Resort . This adults-only , topless-friendly resort is made especially for singles and couples, offering an uninhibited experience with water sports , land sports and nightly live entertainment. The staff-led activities are also led in a fun way to introduce single travelers to one another, taking away the stress and “awkward” feeling of trying to meet new people!

5. Lisbon, Portugal

Portugal in Southern Europe is considered to be one of the best vacations for singles since it is extremely easy and quick to get around and explore different areas. A train between the popular cities of Lisbon and the UNESCO -listed Porto takes less than three hours, ideal for a day trip to explore the vibrant sights and culture of both.

In Portugal you can indulge in delicious food and wine while snapping some postcard-worthy photos of its scenic landscapes and charming villages. Both Lisbon and Porto, Portugal are also popular places for American expats, making it even easier to meet new friends in addition to friendly locals during your travels.

Located 30km from Faro, Club Med ’s Da Balaia Resort makes solo travel to this beautiful country even easier, offering an all-inclusive package with 24 included activities and numerous excursions to keep you active and busy. Whether its a nature hike, sunset safari or sailing on a 50-foot yacht, you’ll have the time of your life!

If you’ve never considered exploring a country by train, now is the time to do so. The Rocky Mountaineer train company offers several train routes through the most beautiful places in Canada . It is one of the easiest vacations for singles. You won’t need to do a thing but sit back, relax and enjoy the sights around you!

The Journey through the Clouds Excursions are one of the most recommended tours. Its routes take you through Vancouver, Kamloops, Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff and Calgary. The route also includes Jasper National Park , which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site . At the end of each evening, you’ll get a good night’s rest in a comfortable hotel.

With Cuba not always being an option for travel in the past, it is now a highly-sought after destination with its 1950s cars and colonial architecture that looks like you’ve taken a trip back in time. Cuba is also considered to be among the top vacations for singles. There are gorgeous unspoiled beaches, live entertainment, delicious cuisine and plenty of salsa dancing!

The Blau Varadero Hotel is a popular adults-only all-inclusive resort for single travelers visiting the island. It is located right on the beach, making it a breeze to spend days in the sun, sand and warm Caribbean waters. There is also plenty to do at the resort to spend your solo vacation. There are  salsa lessons, water sports , sports facilities, a spa, outdoor swimming pool and daily live entertainment. Food and drinks are also available 24 hours a day.

SheBuysTravel Tip: At the time of publication, travel for tourist activities from the United States to Cuba remains prohibited. However, there are a number of workarounds, including traveling to Cuba for educational programs. Check the US Embassy site and consult with a travel professional specializing in Cuba.

Two females on an all-terrain vehicle in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, one of the best vacations for singles.

8. Punta Cana , Dominican Republic

Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is another Caribbean destination to land among our list of the best vacations for singles. Between the numerous adults-only all-inclusive resorts , pristine white-sand beaches and opportunities to take fun excursions to explore the island, a trip to Punta Cana is never boring.

I’ll never forget my first single girls trip that I took back in 2009 and thinking to myself how I’d no doubt return as a solo traveler . The ATV tour that I joined was one of the trip highlights, taking us through the country, into a cave and to a beautiful white sand beach . It was a great opportunity to meet people , both travelers and locals.

The Sanctuary Cap Cana Resort and Spa is one of the most popular places for single travelers to stay during a trip to Punta Cana . This Spanish castle-style adults-only all-inclusive resort sits cliffside, offering stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and sugary white-sand Juanillo Beach. The rooms are large and spacious, enough to make you feel like royalty. There are also plenty of activities and amenities to fill your day including a luxury spa, swimming pool with swim-up bar and water sports . If golf is your kind of sports, you’ll have access to one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean . It is certainly a place to enjoy a vacation for one!

A trip to Greece is a bucket list item for many travelers, and a solo vacation makes it even more special! The Greek Islands offer ancient cities, incredible architecture, beautiful beaches , exciting nightlife  and delicious food and wine, all of which makes it an unforgettable vacation for singles. It is also very likely you’ll meet other single travelers along the way!

One of the best ways to explore Greece is via cruise. Norwegian Cruise Lines offers a nine-day cruise of the Greek Isles which it considers to be amongst its best cruises for singles . These cruises offer single’s common areas as well as accommodations made especially for singles. During the cruise, you’ll can visit some of the major cities including Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. Some cruises even include stops in Spain , Italy , France, Croatia and Turkey , knocking off even more items in your bucket list !

10. Las Vegas

Sin City may not be the first place to come to mind when considering vacations for singles. However, it is by far one of the most fun places to be! I once took the opportunity to turn my work trip to Las Vegas into a weekend long vacation and let me tell you – I had the time of my life!

Vegas is known for its glitzy casinos which is no doubt a place to hang out if you’re into gambling. However, there is so much more to do and see. There is always a concert or show going on to keep you entertained. The thrilling Cirque du Soleil shows including O and KÀ are a must-see. A bonus of going solo: Since you’re traveling solo, you’ll probably have access to much better single seats! If you’re into the party scene, the pool parties during the day and the club scene at night won’t disappoint. I found being a solo traveler particularly beneficial at the most exclusive places, as the bouncers didn’t mind letting in one person versus a group of friends all trying to enter at once.

For something more low-key, stroll the Strip, do some high-end shopping or try one of the many buffets. There are also day trips to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam if you need a break from the action on the Strip.

A long stretch of beach with a cruise ship in the distance in Miami, Florida, one of the best vacations for singles.

If you’re into vibrant nightlife and people watching, don’t be afraid to head to Miami Beach, one of the best vacations for singles who like to see and be seen. The Latin and Caribbean vibe you feel the moment you land will most definitely draw you in – you may not want to go home!

In addition to the tropical weather and lovely beaches, Miami packs plenty of ways to enjoy a vacation for one. Water lovers will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy some of the country’s best snorkeling , scuba diving  and fishing. A day cruise to Star Island, bike tour of the Art Deco Historic District or even a walk along the strip is a wonderful way to explore the area and do some people-watching. Little Havana is the place to be if you want a taste of Cuba . If you’re into shopping, you’ll be in heaven with all of the high-end luxury brands at your fingertips. And once the sun sets, head to South Beach for some of the area’s best nightlife and live music , and where you’ll be sure to meet other travelers!

When you want a break from Miami to explore other nearby areas, just hop on one of the day trips to the Florida Keys and Key West .

A trip to Alaska is a bucket list item for many, and if you’re a single traveler you still have plenty of opportunities to make this dream come true! With millions of tourists visiting this massive state each year, you’ll surely run into other friendly travelers including other solo travelers !

Norwegian Cruise Lines offers seven-day Alaskan cruises with single studios especially for those who are traveling solo. These cruises take you through the Glacier Bay National Park and the cities of Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway, where you’ll have the opportunity to see incredible glaciers, hike through the Tongass National Forest and spot wildlife such as moose, set otters, bears and bald eagles. It is quite the experience, whether you travel solo or with a group!

13. Turks and Caicos

For the single traveler really looking to do it up in the Caribbean , look no further than the Turks and Caicos . Not only is it home to the number one beach in the world, but there is plenty to do for single travelers to enjoy a relaxing yet fun solo adventure.

Club Med , known for providing some of the best vacation packages for singles, offers an all-inclusive resort on Turks and Caicos that you won’t want to miss: Club Med Turkoise . Set along the #1-rated Grace Bay Beach, this adults-only beach resort is like a dream come true for solo travelers . You won’t mind spending the day alone when you have 12-miles of powdery white sands and turquoise waters at your fingertips, daily live entertainment and unlimited land and water sports such as scuba diving , snorkeling , sailing, flying trapeze lessons, yoga and golf. And if you’re anything like me, the wine cellar with VIP service and premium terrace is all you need!

Hawaii is yet another bucket list destination and a great place for a singles getaway . Whether you want to relax poolside at a fancy resort, immerse yourself in the culture, learn some history or learn to surf, there is something to do for everyone in Hawaii . For that reason it makes our list of the best vacations for singles!

No matter which island you choose, there are plenty of activities to enjoy as a single traveler . In Maui, you’ll find some of the most beautiful beaches as well as world-class surfing. The Haleakala National Park is a must visit, and a sunrise tour is one of the best ways to experience it while traveling alone. Honolulu on the island of Oahu is the place to be for nature-loving solo travelers , with opportunities to join a guided waterfall tour of Manoa Falls or a turtle snorkeling tour along Waikiki Beach. On the Big Island, the Volcanoes, Waterfalls and Coffee Farm day trip is a fun way to visit some of Hawaii ’s most diverse landscapes while meeting other travelers.

15. St. Lucia

Last, but certainly not least, the island of St. Lucia is another hot spot for a singles getaway . This relaxing island is one of the ideal vacations for singles who truly want to get away, relax, and rejuvenate.

The BodyHoliday all-inclusive resort is a top choice for single travelers headed to St. Lucia . At this luxury wellness resort, solo travelers can truly focus on relaxation with first-class accommodations, international cuisine, numerous land and water sports , and a world-renowned wellness center. Spend your day indulging in one of the many state-of-the-art spa treatments, taking a meditation or yoga class or sitting poolside with a refreshing cocktail in hand. As a single traveler , it is no one else’s decision but yours!

Fabulous holiday with lovely walks boat trips and visits to historic places. Also swam at a beautiful beach (with a wet suit). Our guide was knowledgeable and flexible and the group got on really well. Highly recommend this trip.

Scotland Tour

It was a good trip seeing a lot of Scotland and the tour guide was very good. However a few things to improve are: There were too many people in the group so didn't really interact with the rest of them and the language difference didn't help either as I didn't realise that most of them spoke Spanish so the guide had to say everything in 2 languages. There was confusion on the trip as in the main Itinerary, it only mentioned breakfast included but when you looked into individual days it said dinner included, so didn't match. I feel that at least 1 dinner would have been nice to help with interacting with the group. I was a bit disappointed that the distillery changed days instead of the 1st day as I would have liked a bit more time to see Edinburgh especially as it was nice that day. Also the day in Edinburgh shouldn't be on a Saturday as it was too busy. A few places I felt rushed like Fort William as we only had time to get out, see it a bit, have a hot drink and toilet and then go but to be honest there wasn't much there so could have gone anywhere really. It was nice to see the castles except it would have good if Edinburgh castle had been included, but also maybe see something else for a variety like a mine or cave, or we did pass a cable car and that would have been nice. But overall it was a nice trip seeing places around Scotland in the time.

This was my second G Adventures tour and it proved to be as enjoyable as the first one, which was the main reason my wife and I booked it. The small size of the tour group and the variety of people made it all the better. The tour offered a good balance between structured visits of major attractions and free time to explore on our own. I would not hesitate to recommend a G Adventures tour to anyone seeking a guided travel experience in the company of other like-minded travelers.

We had an amazing trip with our guide Andrew and driver Davie. Andrew shared the history of the places we visited and kept us entertained with his unique sense of humour. We enjoyed the beauty of the Scottish countryside dotted with sheep and the occasional “Hairy Coo”. Highlights were Culloden, Dunottar Castle, Palace of Scone and the evening of Scottish music and dance.

We had a fantastic and thorough tour experience of Country Roads of Scotland with our Tour Director Greg Colgin. He gave us a holiday to always look back on with very fond memories. In nine days on the road we saw more and did more than expected. The Optional Experiences amped up the energy required but thank good goodness we bought in. Greg has a strong knowledge of Scotland's history, other points of interest and proudly talked about the stunning countryside. We appreciated hearing about Scotland's music artists and movie and book titles we might find later. Greg has a nice manner, is very energized and engages easily with others. Les our coach driver was very responsible behind the wheel and the coach vehicle was extremely comfortable. Would do it again!

Mark was great, sorry I cannot provide a last name. An exceptional person really. Lots of commentary and we got the feeling that we were actually developing a friendship. He knows a lot about Scottish history and culture and it is clear that he is a big fan of it all. Great jokes too!

Taste of Scotland - 5 Days/4 Nights

Overall it was a lovely experience. Our guide Becky and driver Paul were both excellent and had a load of interesting historical facts at their finger tips. The hotels used were excellent in a lot of ways but there were some drawbacks. The group we were in and including ourselves were quite elderly and most of us found it very hard to use the bath in the bathroom because it was too high to get in and out. Another thing we were disappointed with was the fact that we were the only travelers outside the USA and were the only couple who did not receive the promised travel pack which included the important CIE luggage tags. Apart from that we really enjoyed Scotland especially the Military Tattoo which is an experience thaT shouldn’t be missed.

What people love about Scotland Solo Tours

This was our first overseas trip and we could not have asked for a better experience! The tour guide, Rob Carr, was excellent - so knowledgeable, humorous and so caring about all of our group. He added so much with his stories and when we had bad weather, he was adept at changing things on the fly and taking us to see the sights off the beaten path. The tour featured a great mix of Scottish history, beautiful scenery and good fellowship between the other folks on the trip.
Intrepid needs to tighten up this tour. Two free afternoons is too much when one has only three days on the island. Either make the tour two full days or two full days with one full day free to make plans to go to Hoy or Rousay. Give people guidance on what to do on the free day.

These cabins, at an average size of 100 square feet, are designed and priced with the solo traveler in mind. They have no single supplements – and studio rooms on board Norwegian Bliss even boast virtual windows.

MSC Cruises offers interior and balcony solo cabins for single cruisers on its Meraviglia-class ships: the MSC Meraviglia, Bellissima, Grandiosa, Virtuosa and the newest vessel in the fleet, MSC Euribia. The second-newest ship, MSC World Europa, has 28 cabins – 10 Studio Interior and 18 Studio Ocean View staterooms – designed specifically for solo travelers. MSC World America, set to debut in 2025, will also feature the solo studio staterooms.

During voyages with MSC Cruises , single cruisers are invited to a complimentary, hosted cocktail party to mix and mingle with other solo travelers. The daily program is also an excellent source to discover additional activities, entertainment and opportunities to meet other cruisers. You'll have onboard special events like the themed 70s-inspired Flower Party and the White Party, where the ship is decked out in festive white decor and guests don their best white attire. In addition, there are various sports tournaments, or you can show off your culinary expertise during a MasterChef competition.

MSC's Caribbean and Bahamas cruises departing from Miami and New York City feature an overnight visit to Ocean Cay, the line's private island and marine reserve. These ocean view staterooms range in size from 127 to 172 square feet and feature the same amenities as the double occupancy cabins but with a double bed. If you're a solo traveler and a member of AARP, Holland America is now the exclusive cruise benefit provider to AARP's members. Solo cruisers will have access to an AARP member-only onboard credit that ranges from $50 to $200, depending on the itinerary and stateroom category.

For itineraries, Holland America's Alaska cruises and cruisetours are perfect for solo travelers, offering many opportunities to connect with fellow cruisers. Another favorite for singles is the line's fall voyages sailing from Boston to Québec City or Montreal.

If you need more thrills to stay busy and to meet people, Royal Caribbean's ships feature world-class shows and entertainment alongside adrenaline-pumping rides and attractions. New Clemson coach Poppie adds former Alabama starting point guard McQueen to his program

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — New Clemson women’s basketball coach Shawn Poppie has added an experienced leader to his program in former Alabama starting point guard Loyal McQueen.

The school announced McQueen’s signing on Wednesday.

McQueen is a 5-foot-8 senior from Florence, South Carolina, who began her college career at Georgia Tech. After two years with the Yellow Jackets, McQueen transferred to Alabama, where she played the past two seasons.

McQueen started 34 games this past season, averaging 9.8 points a game as the Crimson Tide went 24-10 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Poppie had recruited McQueen out of high school when he was an assistant coach at Virginia Tech. He said the two reconnected after McQueen decided to leave Alabama.

Poppie is happy to add McQueen’s leadership and playmaking ability to his first-year program.

“I believe she is the perfect fit here at the perfect time,” Poppie said. “She has had a phenomenal college career up to this point, but I truly believe she has much more to accomplish.”

Former Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels Snags an Offer on His Lavish Vegas-Area Mansion

Josh McDaniels , who coached the Las Vegas Raiders for one-and-a-half desultory seasons and was subsequently fired, recently listed his massive Las Vegas -area mansion for $4,900,000. He’s already fielding an offer on the place after five days.

The five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom Henderson home features 6,700 square feet of living space and sits on a half-acre lot. Built in 2005, the property was recently renovated.

The property was last sold in 2022 for $4,950,000, according to public records. The current list price likely reflects McDaniels’ desire to put Sin City in his rearview mirror.

The Mediterranean-style build is located in a gated country club community that’s within a 30-minute drive of the Las Vegas Strip.

This single-level mansion features a dramatic front entrance with a wide arched doorway and a manicured lawn. Inside, the spacious foyer has bright white walls and light hardwood flooring.

Multiple sitting areas include a formal living room with a marble fireplace, a wall of windows, and a coffered ceiling. Another sitting area has a wet bar, carved wood walls, and arched windows.

The chef’s kitchen boasts a center island with seating, plenty of storage, and a wood-beamed ceiling. There’s also a sitting area with a stone-accented fireplace.

The layout includes a quaint dining nook as well as a formal dining room.

Four of the five bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. The fifth bedroom could be turned into a home office.

The primary suite comes with a white marble fireplace, a spa bathroom with an oversized soaking tub, and a private patio.

Additionally, this handsome home has a media room, a laundry room, and three parking spaces.

The backyard features a renovated pool with fire bowls and waterfalls, a built-in barbecue, and a fire pit.

The country club community offers a golf course, walking trails, tennis and pickleball courts, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and dining options. The monthly homeowners association fee is relatively low at $287.

McDaniels, 48, was the head coach of the Raiders for 25 games during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He was dismissed with a record of nine wins and 16 losses.

Previously, McDaniels was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the New England Patriots from 2012 to 2021. A short detour as head coach of the Denver Broncos in 2009 and 2010 also proved less than successful, and he was axed before he finished a second season.

Open seating no more? Southwest CEO says airline is weighing cabin changes

Travelers line up at a Southwest Airlines ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airpor

Southwest Airlines  is considering changes to its single-class, open-seating cabins to drive up revenue, CEO Bob Jordan told CNBC on Thursday, a shift that could be among the largest in the airline’s history.

“We’re looking into new initiatives, things like the way we seat and board our aircraft,” Jordan said in an interview after the carrier’s  disappointing first-quarter report.

Southwest’s all- Boeing  737 fleet has a single economy class cabin and no seating assignments, though it does offer earlier boarding for a fee so customers can snag their preferred seats. The airline has focused on keeping its product simple and user-friendly for years, aiming to keep its own costs and complexity to a minimum.

Meanwhile, rivals including  Delta  and  United  have touted high revenue growth for premium seating such as business class and  strong upsell rates .

Analysts have repeatedly asked Southwest about opportunities for premium seating or additional fees. (The airline doesn’t charge travelers for their first two checked bags.)

Most U.S. airlines charge travelers to choose many of its seats in advance, even those that don’t come with extra legroom. Eight U.S. carriers —  Alaska ,  Allegiant ,  American , Delta,  Frontier ,  JetBlue ,  Spirit  and United — together brought in $4.2 billion from seating fees in their domestic networks in 2022, according to Jay Sorensen, an airline ancillary revenue expert at IdeaWorksCompany.

Jordan said no decisions have been made on what kind of changes Southwest will ultimately make, but he said studies have yielded “interesting” results.

“Customer preferences do change over time,” Jordan said.

While details were scarce during Southwest’s earnings call, when asked whether Southwest would consider a separated cabin on its planes, Ryan Green, the carrier’s chief commercial officer said: “Curtains and things like that are a bit far afield from what Southwest Airlines is.”

Green added that the carrier is not considering charging for checked bags because “people choose Southwest Airlines because we don’t have bag fees.”
